Haven was certain that the walls of the hospital were going to close in on her if she didn’t get some fresh air soon. She was thankful that things weren’t worse than they could be, however, all the testing resulting in a lack of answers already had been more than she’d been able to handle, her nerves causing her stomach to turn as she was unable to keep still. This was the part of parenthood that sucked; the part where you wanted to take the pain away, do anything you could to change places with your child and was something Haven would do in a heartbeat. She was standing alone in the ER - she’d been told just moments before that Lake would probably be admitted for a few days for observation - and in true Haven fashion when she was nervous, she was unable to keep her feet in one position, the waiting game for the answers she wanted feeling like a weight on her chest. Her hand moved into her pocket, reaching for her phone in an attempt to keep them from shaking when she felt her phone, lifting it to check for messages when she saw Julian’s gaze searching for her coming from outside. Placing it in her back pocket she took a few steps towards him, letting her arms wrap around him in a hug as she felt her body melt into his, his comfort the only thing she needed. It didn’t take long for her to feel herself breaking and she buried her head into his chest, letting out all the tears she’d been holding back fall at the same time, the quiet hallway now full of the sound of Haven’s cries.

Glaring at Ken as he left, his words cryptic and stupid, and maybe even somewhat threatening when he said he'd be watching Julian, Mason, stuck their tongue out at Ken all the same and turned all attention Julian, but the words echoed still and concern grew when Julian's aura shifted from what he had initially clocked it to be. A swirling thing of grey, clouding the bright one he knew it normally would be. Things outside of the immaterial plane began to shift too, physical proof of something amiss came with Julian's tall form bending and a shaky voice that Mason had to strain to hear. "Sure, bud," he replied, holding out an arm to keep the man steady and on his feet, "Quiet and no music, you got it." Mason led them away from the floor, the people, picking up the pace a little as he heard the raggedy breaths of their friend. A spot off in a corner by the door seemed good enough, a plush couch and cool night breeze he hoped would provide some comfort, music a faint thing too, just like requested, "Is here okay for you? We can go somewhere else."

julian cortez was born on november 2nd, 1998.   as siphoner, it was very ironic that his birthday ended up being on dia de los muertos.   how ironic it was that he himself was a little dead inside knowing he had no powers of his own. he wasn't fully there.

julian was born in a powerful witch coven, one that was proud of their powers. and julian was excited for when he would show magical abilities of his own, but when nothing came, he felt like the odd one out amongst his coven.

the day he discovered his powers, he was terrified.   he had the ability to do everything witches do, but he had no actual magic of his own. when he siphoned his older brother, that was when everything changed. he was only thirteen.

that whole time, he stayed quiet about his powers. he knew what it meant to be a siphoner, and his older brother was so protective over julian, so he kept it quiet, telling julian to keep acting like he was just human and the magic had skipped him. that was better than their parents finding out the truth.

his older brother made sure that every morning julian can siphon a little bit of magic for julian to store for the day, so that he can use it for protection. and most times julian just practiced his magic here and there before the magic was gone for the day.

for the next few years, julian did stay low. but he was so curious about his power. so he practice with the little magic that his brother let him siphon.

for years, julian felt broken, getting frustrated when the magic was gone, feeling like he wasn't whole.   but when he did nursing school, it had become the one thing that had helped him, because he wanted to do good, and thought the only way he could help was to ease those that needed it, help them to go on their way to a healthier and better self.

in college, he met a fellow supernatural, who never judged him, who got close with. with their help, julian got to siphon a bit of magic from him so that he could at least learn a little more advance stuff.

he graduated nursing school, even if it took longer than most.  but he did that.  and when he got a job offer at alexandria, where he was eyeing, finding out there were people like him. he was rather excited, knowing that he wasn't alone.

OLDER BROTHER:  he was so happy he wasn't alone in this world. his brother was always so protective of him, even when he discovered he was a siphoner. he even moved out to alexandria with julian, and now they share a place together. ( TAKEN by @ )

HIS FIRST LOVE:  julian and his first love had dated all throughout high school.  but what he doesn’t know about his first love was that he was a supernatural.  ( either he was a vampire or a darklighter ).   julian didn’t know that the other would eventually fake his own death to protect julian. julian never felt so heartbroken, feeling the loss of someone he gave his whole hear to. so when he moved to alexandria, he couldn't believe that he was alive and living in the town too.

EX BOYFRIEND:  julian had one other boyfriend in his life, but the relationship wasn’t as loved filled as it was with his first love.  at least at first it was nice, but it ended up getting a bit too much,  maybe the fact that he had found the other cheating on him.

HOSPITAL BEST FRIEND:  seeing as julian was completely new, he had no friends in the city.  so he gets close to some of the people in the hospital.   eventually he makes a few good friends at the hospital, but one he is closest with. they often go get drinks after work.

ぅ( FILE FIVE ) ## FACTUAL INFORMATION

001 ▬▬ hwan does not enjoy talking much, which makes you question his place in a group with twelve other men but he prefers his own company. of course, he doesn't stray away from outings with the other members, they just always tire him quickly.

002 ▬▬ hwan is technically the reason meliora exists in a weird sort of way? he was originally meant to debut as a soloist but then his plans kept interfering with plans to debut a new boy group so the company scrapped their old boy group concept and chose hwan as their first member, which then corresponded in him picking the next members of the group.

003 ▬▬ he is the only member with recorded, written, and produced solo music that's hiding somewhere on his composter files. after his solo debut was canceled he uploaded the first few songs to soundcloud, and they're the only hint of original meliora solo music that isn't a cover or a dug up melody project. he occasional uploads more of his original songs to soundcloud when he has creative streaks.

004 ▬▬ his english name "julian" was given to him by his aunt when he moved to canada as a sort of placeholder name. he doesn't mind the name but it also isn't a legal name of any sort so he doesn't really care about it.

005 ▬▬ due to him being raised with a very specific and timed schedule, hwan still conditions himself to follow very specific schedules and traditions to this day. he feels like he can't exist without following a schedule and it really messes with his brain sometimes.

006 ▬▬ hwan is often jokingly called meliora's "second leader" because the members follow his older in a similar way to how they do yohan. he practically took over the position of leader when yohan was on hiatus in 2021.

007 ▬▬ because hwan doesn't talk much, he usually shows his love for his members through gestures like baking, handmade gifts, trinkets, sewing them specific fabrics, all that stuff.

008 ▬▬ hwan is an amazing listener, even if he's looking in another direction he will pick up on everything you're saying, and he will remember everything your saying. it goes hand in hand with his good memory, he will remember something someone said even if they themself don't remember. he often uses this against z, who notoriously forgets everything.

009 ▬▬ hwan made all of the members their own specific bracelets with charms that all represent character traits of theirs. the bracelets are a show of his appreciation, and since he usually doesn't show his appreciation verbally, he decided to make jewelry to display it. the charms are representative of each of them individually, and even include their initials.

010 ▬▬ he recently got a maltese puppy named vinh, who the members affectionately call "vinnie". the name vinh means glory in vietnamese, he got her as a birthday gift from haneul.

SHE’D  ALREADY  MEASURED  OUT  most  of  her  ingredients  ,  and  had  already  put  together  a  chunk  of  what  she  wanted  to  make  .  she  turns  around  ,  slipping  into  the  pantry  and  reaching  for  an other  container  ,  fingers  wrapping  around  it  and  barely  avoiding  dropping  anything  as  she  stumbles  back  into  the  doorway  ,  container  of  sugar  clutched  to  her  chest  as  she  does  .  the  dragon  looks  over  at  julian  sheepishly  ,  shrugging  .  “  in  my  defence  ,  i  was  born  with  wings  and  a  tail  .  ”  she  says  ,  as  if  she  doesn’t  spend  most  of  her  time  in  this  form  .  she  sets  the  container  on  the  counter  and  bumps  her  shoulder  against  julian’s  .  “  so  i  want  to  do  a  version  of  our  peach  tarts  ,  and  lemon  bars  ,  and  chocolate   ...  something  .  and  then  i  need  some  cake  options  to  be  available  for  orders  .  ”  she  says  .  “  but  ,  i  think  lemon  bars  are  a  good  starting  point  ...  right  ?  ”

“huh, the door was open.” he apologised for his interruption as he walked in the conference room where julian seemed to be working. he figured the legal department would be buzzing with the news of the plane crash but wyatt needed to hear something. anything. “you probably get this question a lot and i get that you’re busy but i, huh, i was wondering if you have any news. about the plane. the doctors, i mean. anything else at all.” he was nervous to say the least. he wasn’t sure if he wanted to know if it was bad news.

Bodies filled the Cotelle Gallery, bringing more warmth to the 17th century building than even the modern ventilation system the wedding planner assured them had been installed. Voices layered over voices to create a dull roar throughout the long hall, but only one voice mattered to Sophia: her husband’s. Even thinking those words filled her with a warmth and excitement she didn’t even know was possible and she was absolutely certain that feeling would never fade. Her eyes locked with Julian’s as he walked towards her, two glasses of champagne in his hands, and the roar faded away until no one was left except the two of them. Taking the offered glass, Sophia looked up at her husband with a smile spread across her lips. “Have I told you how handsome you look in that tux, Mr. Elingston?”

Day 006: Hangover

Julian stirred with groan. Her head felt like it was going to split in two, just from the amount of light that poured into the room. She took the pillow from underneath her and covered her face with a huff. A breathy laugh from the doorway made her squint from under the pillow. 

“Well, look who's finally awake,” Graeme entered the room, placing a glass of water on the bedside table.

“It’s too early,” Julian moaned and rolled into the middle of the bed, away from Graeme. She tucked herself tighter into a ball, wishing away the throbbing in her head. 

“Early?” Graeme laughed as he leaned over her curled up form and grabbed hold of the blind. He pulled it down to block out sunlight. He then pulled the pillow off her head, “It’s two in the afternoon, Jules.”

She blinked at him for a moment, readjusting her eyes to the new lighting. Realization sunk in and Julian sat up abruptly. Graeme quickly moved out of her path and landed, sitting across from her on the bed. She looked around for her phone and found it, the bright numbers on the screen confirmed it was well into the afternoon. She threw her head back and groaned again, “Why didn’t you wake me up?”

“Oh I tried,” Graeme scoffed, “Somebody just wouldn’t listen. Same as when I told that same someone, not to try and keep up with everyone when we were drinking last night.”

Julian winced at the idea of trying to keep up with the pack. A group of werewolves that still felt the effects of alcohol, but it took them a lot more. She grimaced and slowly asked, “So how drunk was I?”

          It  was  strange,  to  be  out  of  his  shadowhunter  gear  to  go  out. Not  too  long  ago  he’d  lived  in  black,  barely  sleeping  as  he  tried  to  keep  the  Los  Angeles  downworld  together. A  working  father  raising  five  children,  thinking  he’d  never  have  better  due  to  locking  away  his  heart  when  he  agreed  to  the  parabatai  ceremony  with  his  best  friend. Recently  his  world  had  slowed,  letting  him  enjoy  life  alongside  his  now  girlfriend,  feeling  full  and  like  he  could  be  himself  for  the  first  time.

          Dressed  nice  but  not  extremely  formal,  Julian  paced  their  room  as  Emma  took  her  turn  in  the  bathroom. He  couldn’t  help  but  stow  away  a  seraph  blade,  for  comfort  more  than  that  he  believed  they’d  run  in  to  any  trouble. His  feet  paused  when  he  heard  the  door  open,  a  smile  donning  his  face  when  he  saw  she’d  chosen  to  wear  the  dress  he’d  picked  out. Crossing  the  small  amount  of  distance  between  them,  he  held  his  hand  out  for  her  to  take,  spinning  her  ‘round  before  pulling  her  in  to  his  arms. A  gentle  sway  to  their  hips  as  if  dancing  in  place,  julian’s  face  softened  with  a  look  of  a  lifetime’s  worth  of  adoration  finally  set  free.

          “ You  look  beautiful,  Emma. ”          Decidedly,  their  meal  reservation  could  wait  a  few  moments  longer  so  he  could  lean  in  to  press  his  lips  to  hers.
