Erectile Dysfunction
Jesse rolled over and slid her hand inside my boxers. She played with my soft dick. I leaned towards her and kissed her good morning. We both knew chances have it I wouldn't get hard. I had been to the doctors. Run the test, even tried the little blue pills but nothing worked. The pills actually caused other issues. But Jesse was I. The mood. I started to kiss hee breasts. Then worked my way down. Soon I was sucking on her clit as she gasped and pulled my hair. I made her cum but still remanded soft. I wanted to I was horny as shit. Just couldn't get hard. The Doctors kept saying it was stress. But it had been 2 months now.
"It's okay Paul" Jesse told me. Then got up and made breakfast. The kids where still asleep. Damn kids would sleep all day if I let them.
"I have errands to run today. So they are your problem." Jesse smiled.
"I will get them to help with the yard" I told her. She laughed "good luck"
Jesse looked amazing all dolled up to run errands as I rounded up are three kids. 15, 13 and 12 to come help me in the yard.
"You look amazing" I told her with a kiss.
"Meeting Julie for lunch" she told me and headed out..
My boys helped in the yard. ( the 15 and 12 year old). My daughter always the negotiator convinced me she would do the dishes and catch up the laundry. We had a good day. Jesse called about 3 and said she was going out with the girls for dinner and if we could manage without her. Of course. We made homemade pizza and watched a movie mom might of deemed to scary. It was after 9 when Jesse came home. She headed straight to the bedroom. By the time I came in to ask about her night she was in the shower.
When she got out of the shower I noticed a mark on her neck.
"What this did you hurt yourself?" I asked getting up to look closer.
"Paul. I well I didn't mean too" she babbled. She stopped and sat down holding my hands. "We where out and I was drinking maybe more then I should have. This guy asked me to dance, and I said yes. The music, wine, the fact that I haven't gotten any" she said I went to explain it wasn't my fault but she continued " I kissed him. And um well we made out alot" she stopped looking at my face.
"Is that it?" I asked relieved for a moment.
"No, I sucked his dick in his car?" She spit out. "I'm sorry I don't know what came over me" Jesse tried to explain.
"I understand, I mean" I looked down. I wanted to make love to my wife I just couldn't.
"I am so sorry I will do anything to make it up to you" Jesse continued she kissed me. I kissed her back we laid on the bed hands everywhere but I remained soft. I got between her thighs and pleased her with my tounge. Afterwards we laid there.
"Was he bigger then me?" I asked Jesse didn't answer. "Did you want to have sex with him?" I asked.
"I couldn't" she confessed.
"But he was bigger?" I asked again.
"It's been awhile since I saw yours" she teased reaching into my pants she played with my soft penis. Jerking me off fast. I got excited but not hard. Jesse kept going and I came even though I never got hard.
"How did that feel?" Jesse asked just as surprised as I was.
"Umm" I said kissing her again. I drifted off to sleep.
I woke in the morning to Jesse jerking off my soft little dick again. I came again.
"Jesse, I really do understand about" I started. "It's okay, if every once and awhile you, we'll you know" I told her.
"Know you need to say it" Jesse said sitting up.
"Find a man to please you" I said
"You are serious aren't you" she said stunned.
"We tried the toy, you don't like it" I tried to get her to understand where I was coming from.
"Your just crazy" Jesse jumped up and headed for the shower. I joined her. I watched her wash. Then picked up her pink razor.
"Your lovers may want this shaved I knelt and rubbed shaving lotion into her thick patch of pubic hair. She rubbed my head as I stripped away her hair. She always kept it trimmed but never shaved. I was glad we had endless hot water as I finished. Kissing her now smooth crotch. She lifted her leg and let me enjoy her. After I had made her cum.
"You are serious about another man aren't you?" She asked I just nodded. She took the razor and shaved my crotch as well. We had been in the shower over an hour. She smiled abit.
"What?" I asked
"Nothing, you look like a little boy" she teased.
"So you will stay home and watch the kids while I go on dates" she asked me,
"Sure" I told her. She had me take pics of her for a dating app, She stopped at one point.
"These won't be for dating" she stated then took off her shirt and bra. "These are for a hookup site" she stated I took the pics she was right.
We had spent hours in our room. When we came out only the youngest was up. I roused the troops and made breakfast. I thought it a good day to spend doing a family activity. After some complaining. The fun park near by was decided. They had paintball and go carts. And bunch more activities. Jesse kinda watched most activities preferring the carousel to being hit with balloons of paint. At one point I caught her smiling while swiping thru her phone. As the kids ran off to ride bumper cars. Jesse pulled me into the woman's bathroom. Her hand in my pants before I could even complain. She jerked off my soft dick again, as she whispered about all the guys who had already responded to her profile.
"I am so wet right now" she told me. Smacking my hand away as I went to feel. Cumming in my pants as she did.
"This one wants to know if you are a cuckold, if you want to watch. Or maybe get the details after" she teased. But a woman walked in we excused ourselves. I had never thought about it. I didn't mind when other men checked Jesse out. Made me feel proud I had found such a hot wife. Jesse leaned against me as we watched the kids. She showed me the pics of the men who she liked. I was a bit surprised seeing a few black men on the list.
"Would you like to know? Help me pick one? Or just have it be like I cheat on you?" Jesse asked. This was all very exciting I couldn't remember us being this close and excited about something in a long time.
"I don't want to watch" I said I knew that was not going to work for me.
"I think you would be embarrassed for them to see your little boy pee pee" Jesse teased. I frowned but secretly loved it.
"Baby I think you are going to love being a cuckold" Jesse told me pinching my nipple as the kids came running. We had a wonderful rest of the day. In the morning as I was headed off to work I noticed Jesse had sent me something. As I opened my phone it was a link to a cuckold site. Specifically to a online quiz. "Are you a cuckold" I didn't have time now so I closed it and headed to work.
Later that morning I sat at my desk and remembered the test. I opened it. It had alot of questions, some didn't seem to matter. But I tried my best to answer them. Did I like when other men complimented my wife? Did I like the feel of satin? Did I think my dick was small? Did woman make feel nervous? There where over a hundred questions. Some very personal. Had I ever sucked a cock? Did I ever eat my own cum, someone else's? What kind of porn did I like? Had I ever worn panties?
I was freaked out by some of these questions but also horny by the time I finished. I sent Jesse confirmation that I had completed the test. It didn't give me a result. Just said I would recieve the results via email. But it was linked to Jesse's email not mine.
Jesse replied she would be home late. Meeting someone is all it read. I left work early picked up the kids. Did homework, chores , and dinner. It was after 8 when Jesse called.
"Hey baby, you okay?" She asked. I nodded then realized she was on the phone.
"All good here, how is Maria doing? I Asked
"Maria?" She said then replied. "Good she is feeling much better now. I am on my way home, be there in about 30 minutes" she told me. When she got home she couldn't stop smiling. She kissed the kids and caught up with their day. Only after they headed off to bed did she turn her attention to me. Our oldest still up but playing video games inches room. Jesse unbuttoned my pants and boxers pulling them to my ankles in the middle of the kitchen. She jerked off my soft dick again. As she rubbed my ass.
"He was big. And fucked me so good" she whispered in my ear I was terrified the kids would come running in at any moment. I camagain. There was no force to cumming like this it more like dribbled out.
Jesse held up a finger covered in my cum.
"Want to try?" She asked I looked at her like she was crazy so she licked it off herself. But then kissed me. I quickly pulled up my pants and cleaned up my cum as Jesse went to shower. As I came in the bedroom I noticed sexy lacy black panties on the floor covered in dry cum. She had not used protection? I wanted to know about it who? What had happened? Where? Had she enjoyed it? I was still excited despite having just cum. Jesse emerged from the bathroom already dressed for bed in one of her oversized tee shirt she usually wore. I got in bed with her after quickly stripping down to my boxers. I cuddled up to her. My hand ran over her butt. She wore her comfortable cotton brief panties. After wearing those little lace ones for him.
"What are you thinking?" She rolled over and looked at me.
"I want" I started she kissed me.
"No you don't, I got your results from your test" she assured me. I just laid there spooning her after she rolled back over. Did I not want to know? I tried again to have her tell me anything the next morning she said nothing.
"Let me retake the test" I said desperately as she was about to walk out the door. She just nodded kissed me and left. I got the new link after I had already been home.
Going to be late again. Jesse texted me home about 6. So I made dinner again. Was she meeting him agsin. It would be quick I thought if she was only going to about 45 minutes late. I toke the quiz and dinner cooked and the kids played video games. I went and sat on our bed. I tried to figure out what questions I should change. But the questions weren't exactly the same. But close. They asked if I ever smelled my wife's dirty panties. I thought about her cum stained panties in the hamper and fished them out. I bought them to ,y nose and smelled them. Then stuck out my tounge and licked the dry cum. What was I doing. My hand playing with my soft dick as I did. I sucked on the panties as I filled out the questions. I sent the test back to Jesse.
"Wow, send me a pick of you smelling my panties" she responded about 15 minutes later. I rushed back to the bedroom and took a pic. With them in my mouth instead. I got no response.
Jesse came home this time she ignored the kids and pulled me into the other room. She handed me a little pink bag.
"Go put these on" she whispered in my ear. "And I will tell you every dirty little detail" I looked in to see a pair of pink satin panties. I made a face and looked at her.
"On you get every detail, off you get nothing" she told me. "By the way. Your daughter became a woman today. She smiled. That did explain why she was so moody. I went upstairs to our bathroom and tried on the panties they where so soft. I thought. Then put my pants back on. As I walked I loved the feeling of the panties. We sat down to eat. Jesse said nothing the rest of the night. Doing her normal make sure everything is in order mom things. She had spent over n hour with our daughter. I am sure about woman stuff. I waited to go to bed with her. She finally headed to bed. I was tired. She smiled when she saw I was wearing the panties. She spooned me.
"Tell me" I pleaded.
"In the morning, it's late" Jesse soothed me rubbing my soft panties.
In the morning Jesse told me. "I like you to wear panties whenever I meet with a man" she told me. She had still not told me anything. At work Jesse sent me articles.
"Your test profile says you might like this. Or this" she sent I read three articles. One was about being degraded privately. Having Jesse see me as less of a man, another was about being humiliated by wearing panties or eating cream pies from her lovers. The last was about the third was. About Jesse having control not asking for things or expectations but Jesse sharing only what she wished when she wished.
Jesse teased me the rest of the week but never shared any details. It was Friday morning when she told she had plans and would be home rather late. I watched as she put on new lingerie red lace, panties, bra even a gater and stockings. Before she got dressed for work. She handed me my pink satin panties.
"I can't wear them to work" I told her. She shrugged
"I am sure I won't remember what happened" she smiled as I slid them on.
At lunch I got a pic of a big black cock. From Jesse. With no explanation was she fucking this guy?
Took the kids out for pizza for dinner before heading home. The satin panties still drove me crazy even after wearing them all day. Everyone including myself was asleep when Jessse got home at 2 am. She pulled back the covers I was still wearing my panties. I woke a little but fell back to sleep. In the morning Jesse laid next me in her big cotton panties and over sized tee shirt. Sound asleep.
I let her sleep. As I went to do yard work. When I came in for lunch she was laying on the couch in sweats. There was laundry to do. Bathrooms to clean.
"Is this the plan for the day?" I asked mad at myself for having fallen asleep last night. Jesse got up walked over pulled me close.
"Yes, I am sure you won't mind doing some extra things around the house for me" she smiled and unzipped my fly she frowned.
"No pretties" she whispered.
"They are dirty" I tried to male an excuse.
"Right I better get you some more" she smacked my ass. I ate and finished outside to find Jesse had taken our daughter shopping. I charged the boys to clean up downstairs and headed up. To start laundry and the bathrooms.
Jesse sent me pics of panties. Asking if I liked them. I didn't respond. I got Jesse's chores done as well today before She got home she had bought dinner. We went to bed early the kids still up. Jesse showed me several new pairs of panties for me. I put on a pair with alot of ruffles and laid in bed, Jesse was naked as she played with my soft dick
"His name was John, he has a nice cock. I couldn't suck but half of it" she laughed. She
I me touch her wherever I Iliked As she continued. He fucked me doggie style made me cum twice before he shot his load all over my back. I came in her hand she bought it straight to my mouth. I looked at her she smiled I opened my mouth as she fed me my sperm.
"This is going tomworknout just fine" Jesse laughed. I knew it to, even if I did get hard again, I loved this.

Home Is Wherever You Are P1
Adrian Chase/Vigilante x Reader
With a very heavy emphasis on platonic!Christopher Smith/Peacemaker
Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7
Adrian Chase Masterlist
Prompt: You jump in front of an explosive device to protect Adrian from the blast and end up getting separated from him with no way back.
Warnings: mentions of trafficking, mentions of child abuse, panic, meltdown, crying, divorce, mentions of August Smith, cannon typical Peacemaker violence and language
A/N: In July I started cooking up a new idea with the help of my friend @countlambula and what was originally meant to be a 2 parter moved to a 4 parter and somehow I ended with 7 parts?! Not quite sure how that happened! I’m very excited to share what I spent a huge part of my summer working on. I hope you guys enjoy!! Also despite the main ship being Adrian x Reader there is A LOT of platonic!Chris content in this fic so I really do hope Chris fans can read and enjoy this! I loved getting into the thick of Chris’ backstory for this! All of the 11th Street Kids have their own importance in this series, but it is very Adrian and Chris centric. Please enjoy!!
“I love you.” You sighed in relaxation, smiling as you were gently woken up by your boyfriend.
“Well somebody has to.” Adrian joked.
“Shut up!” You lightly hit him on the chest, laughing.
“Never.” He smiles, kissing you. You could look at his beautiful, infectious smile for hours. Your phones both buzz at the same time, an indication that it’s probably a text in the 11th Street Kids chat because you both got it.
“Didn’t we just get home from a mission?” You groan.
“There’s no time to rest for super badass super cool heroes, babe.” Adrian kisses you on the cheek quickly before getting out of bed.
“Okay, but if we have to pair up there is no way in hell I’m going with Chris again. Last time he told me I looked like his sexy babysitter growing up. Like who the fuck says that? Our lives aren’t some shitty porno and it’s almost like he doesn’t even give a fuck that we’re dating.” You sigh.
“Yeah he constantly tells me that you’re way out of my league. I think his exact words were I’m in little league and you’re on major leagues, but I don’t know. I was never on the bowling team.”
“I think he meant baseball, honey.” You smile at him, finding his little knowledge of sports cute.
“That might actually make more sense with his home run and base metaphors! It took me way too long to figure out what that shit meant. Why can’t people just say what they mean?” He questions.
“Because they’re trying too hard to sound smart. I think sometimes not saying things they actually mean, but understanding that’s not exactly what they meant makes them feel smarter. They don’t know lots of facts like you do and they definitely can’t come up with intricate strategies either.” You smile at him, taking his hand in yours. You watch his smile grow, but there’s something more behind his eyes. He seems moved.
“How do you always do that?” He asks.
“What?”
“How do you always make me feel so smart and validated?” He clarifies.
“Because you are smart. You’re a hell of a lot smarter than Chris and if anyone gave you a second and actually listened to you, they’d realize that. You helped save the world last year. There’s no way they could have done that without you. If it weren’t for you, Chris’ dad probably would have killed him that day, honestly.” As you speak Adrian starts to realize.
“I tried to tell Peacemaker about the gaps in the armor, but he didn’t listen.” He reminds you.
“Well that’s because he’s too deep in his own bullshit to see past it. He should have listened to you, but this isn’t just about him being stubborn. I don’t think most people would have noticed such a small detail like that. Give yourself some credit.” You kiss him again.
“You know you’re like everything to me right? I’ve never felt this way about a person before. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had feelings for other people, but like…it’s like I just never fit in as a kid. I just kinda felt like an alien who crash landed here as a baby and I know Im not, but I just didn’t feel human. You make me feel human.” He’s giving you that look he gives people when he’s worried he’s said something a little too out of pocket or strange.
“I get what you mean. It’s almost like we were made for each other. We’re each other’s rocks…wait does that sound too cheesy?” You look at him, blushing.
“No! I love rocks! I had a rock collection when I was a little kid!” You giggle at how cute he is.
“Me too! My mom would find rocks in the machine every time she did laundry because I would stuff my pockets!” You tell him and you both laugh. Then your phones go off again, interrupting your good morning. You sigh. “Harcourt’s gonna kill us if we’re late.” You kiss him one more time before getting out of bed and heading to the shower.
“Let her kill us.” He laughs, smirking, following you to the shower.
Several hours later you found yourself sneaking through a warehouse. You didn’t quite know what to expect, you just knew a lot of people had gone missing at the hands of this guy. You figured maybe they were being killed off or trafficked. If you knew what you know now maybe you would have done things differently. Maybe you wouldn’t have even done them at all. You wished you were at home with Adrian. Adrian. You may never see him again…
You were running after the guy when he pulled a grenade on you. Adrian had survived a grenade once, but you didn’t think he would survive again. You on the other hand were testing out new armor from ARGUS that could probably withstand the blast, so you did what anyone would do for the person they love the most. You pushed him out of the way. Your ears were ringing and everything was so bright. You think you hear Adrian and maybe some of your other teammates screaming your name, but you’re not sure. Suddenly you’re on the ground, but the ground is different… you try to open your eyes, but they’re still strained from the bright light and now you feel lightheaded and nauseous. You black out.
You wake up to arms shaking you.
“Adrian?” You question in a whiney tone. You open your eyes to find a construction worker looking over you.
“I don’t know who that is. What even happened to you?“ You blinked a couple times, moving around slowly, getting your bearings. “You’re in my construction site for the new factory warehouse that’s going up. What happened? Did you slip down the dirt mound and hit your head?”
“I- I must have…” Your voice trails off as you try to make sense of everything.
“This is going to be so much paperwork.” The worker sighs.
“I’m sorry… what town am I in?” You ask.
“Evergreen, Washington.”
“I don’t remember there being any big construction sites like this recently.” You try to think of any signs indicating any recent work sites.
“We just broke ground yesterday. I’m surprised you didn’t see it on the news.” The worker helps you up.
“I don’t tend to watch the news. My boyfriend thinks it’s depressing. I usually get my news elsewhere, but I’ve been a little busy to read up on it in the past few days.” You smile at the worker, thinking of Adrian.
“Like the newspaper?” He asks.
“No, online.”
“On what? You wait in line?”
“No… like the internet…” You give him a confused smile.
“Oh, I don’t mess with that new stuff. I don’t want robots in my house, stealing my information. You young people always just want things faster, faster, faster.” You tried to refrain from giving the man an odd look. He’s probably from one of the more rural areas. You knew how radically conservative Evergreen could be at first hand, having met Chris’ dad and been told stories of how he grew up. You were just happy Chris’ dad was dead. As awful as that sounds you’d hate to run into him.
“Yeah…” You give a nervous laugh. “Well thank you, but I should probably head out before your supervisor notices.” You quickly excuse yourself, walking down the street. You pulled out your phone, but had no service, so you put it away. That’s odd. Usually there’s dead zones in town, but you didn’t think it was this bad. As you walk down the street you see a beautiful vintage car parked by the side of the road. It’s in pretty good condition.
“I love your vintage car! What year is it?” You ask the woman getting out of it.
“What this clunker? I got it from my parents. It’s only an 81, but I guess it’s getting old now. It’s got tons of miles on it. They just got a new car, so they gave me their old one.” She says, locking her door.
“They didn’t wanna keep it?” You ask in shock.
“Why would they? It’s old.” You look at her in confusion before she excuses herself to walk into the grocery store. Guess some people just don’t know the value of collectibles.
Today has been fucking weird. How did you even end up in that construction site anyway? You must have gone for a walk this morning and fell in, but it’s a little alarming you don’t remember. You could walk home, but it’s just so far. You walk into a nearby corner store hopping they have wifi to connect to. You couldn’t call Adrian without service, but maybe if you could get wifi you could get him a message to come pick you up or you could order an Uber.
You walked into the building and made your way up to the counter. “Hi, do you have wifi here?” You ask.
“No, sorry we don’t sell that.” The teenage cashier dismisses you and goes back to the pad of paper they’re doodling on.
“Okay… do you know anywhere near here that has wifi?” You ask.
“I don’t even know what wifi is. I could call the hardware store and see if they have some.” They look at you like you’re the stupid one.
“What do you mean call the hardware store?”
“We have a phone behind the counter.”
“How do you not know what wifi is? Wireless internet?” You stare at them, losing your mind a bit.
“You think we have a computer here? This is Evergreen. Half the town is poor as shit. You’re not gonna find a computer in a gas station. Go to the library. They just got another one.” The teenager rolls their eyes at you.
“Can I at least use your phone?” You ask, trying to keep your patients with the idiot in front of you. How do they not know what wifi is?
“You have to use the pay phone next door. My boss said this is a business only phone.”
“The pay phone… What is this? 1985? I didn’t even know pay phones still existed.”
“Well some of us again can’t afford a cellphone. Not to mention, my mom says they fuck with your brain.” They roll their eyes again.
“It’s the 21st century who cares what their mother says? Practically everyone has a phone?” You give them a strange look.
“I don’t know what you smoked before you walked in here, but you’re still half a decade away from the 21st century.”
“What the fuck are you talking about?” You look at them dumbfounded before it all starts to register. The comments about the internet being new, no wifi, no cellphones, the vintage car. You feel your ears start to ring as your eyes begin to tear up. You feel like you’re underwater. You take off, booking it down several blocks. You’re out of breath and you have a cramp, but you don’t care. You keep running. You’re sweating, but you keep running. You can taste metal in your mouth, but you keep running. You keep going. You have to. Finally you reach it. You stand in front of the building, catching your breath as you watch people walk in and out of Henelotter Video. Your heart is in your throat.
“No…” You look at it and begin to cry in shock at what was once your headquarters… or you guess what will one day be… That day hasn’t come yet. You walk over to a newspaper box and grab a free local paper. You see the date says August 31st, 1994. Fuck. You drop the paper, rushing to the back of the building. You collapse on the ground against the back wall of a building that should feel more familiar to you than it is. You remember now. The grenade must have been some sort of weaponized time travel. The people weren’t being killed or trafficked. They were being displaced in time. You sob quietly, not trying to cause a scene. This wasn’t supposed to be this way.
You lean against the building staring out at the parking lot, the parking lot where you shared your first kiss with Adrian. You had just gotten back from a mission that he was a little too reckless on and you needed to tell him how you felt in case you never got the chance again. You look over at the dumpster, clean of the graffiti it will one day be littered with. That was the dumpster he was hiding behind when you first met him as Vigilante.
Adrian… You may never get to see your perfect boyfriend again. He was by no means actually perfect, but he was perfect to you. He was your personal version of perfect and you knew you’d never find anyone else like him again. Now you may never see him again…
You cry until it starts to grow dark. You wonder about what you’ll do. Anything you do could change the future. What if changing the future makes it so you never meet Adrian or what if you change something and it branches off into a different future and you get stuck away from him in a parallel universe? You’re not a time travel scientist. Anything could fucking happen! The only thing you do know is that you’re alone and it’s getting dark. If you’re getting your timeline right, Chris’ dad would be coming out soon with his awful fucking army and you knew if they tried to fight you, you wouldn’t be able to take all of them on your own. They rule the streets in these years. You pull out your wallet from your pocket to find you have enough money to at least go get dinner. Your debit card won’t work, but you have just enough cash. You head to Fennel Fields because you knew it would probably be the only consistent thing left in town. You just wanted something familiar.
As you’re seated, an overwhelmed waitress rushes past you saying “I’ll be right with you!”
“Take your time. I practically have all the time in the world… like 30 years of time…” You whisper the last part under your breath. The overworked waitress runs back to you and apologizes.
“Hi, my name is Diane. Can I get you something to drink?” You want to order a soda, but decide against it to save money.
“Uh… I guess water will have to be fine.”
“You don’t look so sure. It’s free refills.” She smiles at you.
“I- I’m okay…” You stutter, tired. You could really use the caffeine, but shouldn’t.
“Well if you could have any pop in the machine which one would you pick?” She asks.
“I’m really fine with water…” You laugh nervously.
“Just humor me.” She smiles at you.
“Uh…maybe a Diet Coke…” You smile shyly at her. She leaves and comes back with a Diet Coke.
“On the house.” She smiles at you again. Something about her is so comforting.
“Oh, no. I couldn’t possibly-“
“Take it. You look like you’ve had a long day. I know I have.” She smiles at you.
“You’re very kind.” You smile back, taking a sip, letting the cool bubbly liquid trickle down your throat, which is sore from crying.
“Now what are we doing for food?” She asks.
“Uh…I’m gonna be really honest with you. I know most restaurants won’t let you order a kids meal if you’re over 12, but I’m really tight on cash, so I was hoping to maybe get the chicken tenders and fries?” You try your luck and she gives you another comforting smile.
“Great choice. I’ll go have the kitchen whip it up.” She walks away without any other questions.
You stay and eat at the restaurant for a while. Even long after you’re done, you stay and enjoy more free refills just so you’re not out on the streets.
“You know we’re technically closed right?” Your waitress, Diane asks.
“Oh! I’m sorry. I’ll leave…” You start to collect your things as she begins to sit at your booth with a bin of silverware and some napkins.
“No, please stay. Mind if I join you?” She asks.
“Um…no.” You smile. “I don’t mind at all.” Truth be told you loved Diane. She had such a comfortable, familiar air around her. Even in all of this chaos, she felt like someone you could trust. She starts rolling silverware as you sip on your drink.
“So what’s your story? Are you running or were you kicked out?” She asks.
“What?” You look at her confused.
“You just look scared and tired and like you’re not quite sure what to do. It’s none of my business, but you just look like you need someone on your side is all.” She smiles again, hoping she didn’t overstep.
“Why were you so kind to me? I walked into this restaurant with thirteen dollars to my name and you didn’t even roll an eye at me.” You question her.
“Just doing what I think is right, I suppose. It’s been hard for me too lately. My husband just left, so I picked up this second job to make sure my kids will be alright.” You shoot her a sympathetic look.
“Um…kicked out…I guess….” You open up. Being exiled from your time period is sort of like being kicked out.
“Do you have anywhere to go?” She asks. You shake your head silently. She finishes rolling the last bit of silverware before standing up and putting the bin behind the counter nearby.
“Let’s go. I’m taking you home with me.” She smiles.
“Oh, no! I- I couldn’t possibly-“
“Yes, you can and you will. I’m a mother. I’m not going to let a young adult with nowhere to go and no money sleep on the streets.” She cuts you off. She couldn’t be too much older than you, but clearly motherhood had aged her.
“You don’t even know my name!” You protest.
“What’s your name?” She asks.
“Rey” You panicked. It was the first name to come to your head. You and Adrian had watched Star Wars yesterday.
“Well then, Rey, let’s go home.” She insists.
“I can’t just stay in your house. That’d be rude.” You continue to debate.
“Then work for me.” She says.
“What?” You question her.
“I’ve been wanting to hire a nanny, but haven’t been able to afford one. If you come stay at my place, while you’re there you could watch the boys when I’m at work and in return you would have a roof over your head and food to eat. It sounds like a win-win situation.” She proposes. It isn’t a bad idea. You worry doing just about anything else would have an insane impact on the timeline. How much could one family affect everything?
“Are you sure about this?” You ask.
“More than sure. There’s something about you. You just seem…right.” She tells you. You smile.
“Okay…let’s go home then I guess…” you say as you follow her out of the restaurant. On the drive home she tells you about her kids.
“I have two kids…officially…” She starts.
“What do you mean officially?” You ask as you watch the passing streetlights illuminate her face.
“Well my son’s friend is always over, so more often than not it’ll probably be three boys. I let him sleepover a lot even though he’s a handful because every time he sleeps at home he comes back the next day with bruises. I can’t do anything about it because…well…that’s just how the town is…I think if I said anything things would just get worse, so I keep my mouth shut and put out an extra table setting for supper.” Her hands tighten on the steering wheel as she speaks.
“That’s so awful. I’ll never be able to understand parents who do that to their kids.” You sigh.
“Me either. If anyone laid a finger on either of my boys I’d kill them.” Most moms would be exaggerating, but you saw fire behind her eyes. You knew she loved her kids and she wasn’t fucking around. When you get home and walk inside you see a toddler with tight brown curls running around the living room in nothing, but a diaper.
“Dorian?!” Diane yells through the house. She catches the giggling toddler who has food on his face.
“Dorian Gut Chase! I told you your brother had to be in bed by 8!” Diane starts to scold her son who could be heard from the other room playing video games. Oh fuck.
“I’m sorry. Can you please hold Adrian. I don’t want him getting into anything else before bed and it seems like Dorian and Chris are upstairs killing aliens on the Super Nintendo instead of watching him, which is why I need a nanny in the first place.” She shoves Adrian in your hands. Holy fuck.
“Hi.” You hold him stiffly in your hands.
“I’m Adrian! I’m three!” He tells you just about the only thing every toddler is trained to say upon meeting a new person, shoving 3 fingers in your face.
“I know.” You say back. That’s probably not what you’re supposed to tell a three year old when they introduce themselves, but it’s not like he’ll remember anyway. You’re too in shock to care.
“What’s- what’s- what is your name?” He asks, stuttering out the words, obviously new to keeping up conversations.
“Rey, could you bring Adrian upstairs to help get him ready for bed please?” Diane calls and you remember you told her your name was Rey. Fuck if only baby Adrian could catch the joke in all of this. This is so weird on so many levels.
“I’m Rey, I guess, and we’re going upstairs now.” You tell him.
“Is it bedtime?” He asks.
“Um yeah. You’re up a little late, bud.”
“It’s not late!” He protests in his squeaky voice.
“What makes you think it’s not late?” You ask, as you walk up the stairs.
“I’m not tired!” He says.
“What time do you think it is?” You ask.
“Um 2- 2- 27” He giggles.
“That’s not a time!” You laugh at him, pretending to almost drop him. He breaks out into a fit of giggles. You had almost forgotten who you were holding.
“You’re really good with him. It’s almost like you’re a natural. He’s usually not this happy with strangers. He loves you!” She says, pleasantly surprised. If only somebody else could see the irony in the situation. Freud would love to be a fly on the way during all of this.
“Oh…uh…thanks.” You smile, as Adrian situates himself in your arms, hugging you closely. You would do anything to have Adrian back. Well this is sort of Adrian, but… you wish you had the older version. You wanted your Adrian back.
“I’ll take him from here.” Diane offers. “Check out the guest room. It’s the one at the end of the hall.” She says, taking Adrian from you.
“Thank you. You’ve been really kind.” You smile at her.
“It’s no trouble. You’re doing me a favor.”
You bid your goodnights and head to the guest room. You sit on the bed and think for a moment. This is so fucked up on so many levels. Forget about how you could fuck up the timeline… How are you gonna fuck up your boyfriend?! Not to mention, what kind of fucking ethics are involved in nannying your future boyfriend? He’s fucking three! He’s impressionable! On one hand this is weird, but on the other hand it might be your smartest move. Free room, free food, and you know how Adrian, Gut, and Chris’ lives are supposed to play out, so maybe you can stick to the script of your own timeline a little easier. This might be the easiest way to change as little as possible. You sigh, flopping onto the bed. You pull out your phone. The battery is only half charged and you have no way of charging it, but you don’t care. You need him. You pull up a picture of him that you took this morning in the van on your way to the warehouse, as tears come to your eyes. You open your voicemails and play one he left for you the other day.
“Hey babe, it’s me. I’m just calling because I know you had a bad day today and I was thinking maybe I could bring takeout home from the restaurant and we could just have a movie night? I just wanted to know if you were feeling chicken parm or meatballs or if you wanted to just scratch dinners and have me bring home a pizza. Just call me back when you get this. I’m really proud of you- uh…not that I’m not always proud of you. I’m like totally proud of you all the time and I’m rambling again and this voicemail is about to be like 10 years long, so uh bye I love you.” As soon as the voicemail ended you played it again, letting your tears fall freely. After you’re sure everyone is asleep you sneak into toddler Adrian’s room to check on him. He’s fast asleep in his bed. You let your silent tears continue to fall. He starts to move in his sleep. He seems distraught like he could be having a nightmare.
“It’s okay. I’m gonna take really good care of you, just like how you always take really good care of me.” You put on a teary eyed smile, giving him a kiss on the top of his head and adjusting his fallen blanket to cover him better. He seems to look more comfortable now. He stays fast asleep as you sneak back to the guest room for the night.

Boy For All Seasons
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Ao3
Eddie's holiday planning hadn't been pushed back when finals came up so it was no surprise he wasn't graduating again this year. He thought maybe he should give it a rest, Steve wouldn't be walking the halls with him come fall anyway and he's sure Steve's parents found him a nice college to go away to.
He had decided to drown his sorrows in a new record from the new mall when all his wildest dreams were answered. Steve Harrington was still in Hawkins and he was dressed as a sailor! This was too good.
"Hello, Sailor."
"Munson! What're you doing here?" Steve's mood seemed to improve seeing the older boy, Eddie guessed anything was better than this.
"Was hot, wanted ice cream, what're you doing here I would've assumed your dad would be shipped you off to college already."
"I didn't get in anywhere." Steve looked sad at this which wouldn't do.
"Well I'm for one glad you're still around, Stevie."
A very faint blush graced Steve's cheeks, Eddie took this as a win. As he left he could've sworn someone said "That's another check on the you suck side."
Armed with the knowledge that Steve was sticking around, Eddie's plans were back in action.
He wanted to do something big for Fourth of July cause he knew he'd get away with it. Maybe fireworks in the carpark and an Uncle Sam costume.
Eddie was so excited when the day rolled around, he'd been visiting the mall when he could but wasn't always brave enough to say hello to Steve.
Eddie had loaded his totally legal fireworks into his van and was practically vibrating with glee as he drove to Starcourt. However, all the joy inside him quickly left him as he arrived. Starcourt was ablaze with police and ambulances crowding the parking lot.
Eddie could barely process his legs moving as he jumped out of the van, heart in his throat. He doesn't think he took a breath until his eyes landed on Steve hunched over at the back of one of the ambulances.
Steve was covered in blood, his uniform seeped in it and his face busted up.
"Steve, holy fuck are you ok?"
"Eddie? You can't be here...Russians.... Billy....Dustin?" Steve mumbled his eyes not totally focusing on Eddie.
Steve seemed like he could barely hold himself up, Eddie grabbed the cloth that was slipping from Steve's grip and held him up by his shoulder.
"What happened, sweetheart."
"Hurts..."
"I know, Stevie, I'm sorry, I'm sure a paramedic will be back any second."
"You look funny," Steve giggled.
Eddie cracked a smile through the worry, "Yeah well had a whole little suprise for you."
"Bet I would've loved it."
Before Eddie could reply again a girl, covered in a lot less blood came up to them.
"I've got him, Munson."
"Buckley?"
Robin ignored him in favour of taking care of Steve, who's eyes were starting to slip close.
"You gotta stay awake, dingus, that paramedic said you've got a concussion, they're gonna take you to hospital, ok?"
Steve hummed a reply as he lent against her.
"You should get out of here before the cops try to talk to you, Eddie."
Eddie spared one last glance at Steve before nodding, Steve was safe for now and that's what mattered.
As he lay in bed later that night his plans for flustering Steve was overuled for his worry for them, what had Steve gotten himself into, what was he talking about Russians for, fire definitely doesn't cause bruises like that.
That night he dreamt about Steve laying hurt in Starcourt, when he woke up all he wanted was to go and check on him, he promised himself he'd keep a closer eye on him from now on.

A Hard Day's Night
Alien
From this list of g/t prompts
Part 1 of 2. [Part 2]
AU: The Donna Trilogy side story; set during the interlude, 'If I Could Turn Back Time'
Note: Look, I only had Dan Lewis for a day and a half and he is best boy. I just wanted to keep him in my pocket forever! But that's not what we're doing today.
Obviously I'm playing this year's g/t July way more loosey-goosey. This prompt got long enough that I could split it into two parts, and I'm debating whether to post it to IICTBT once both parts are out since it doesn't quite fit there. Idk, let me know what you think. PLUS I have another idea for the Alien prompt that I'm very excited about.
Also I'm on the Epic the Musical hype train and I had to really stop myself from titling this 'Pride is a Damsel in Distress'... I'm fine
~~~
“Thanks again for the hand, Dan,” said Wilma as she set the last pallet of donated goods on top of the stack. “As always.”
Dan Lewis gave a small shrug and a smile. “Y'know me, happy to help.”
Wilma only just began removing cans of soup from the stack when her mobile's ringtone blared. With a grumble she shifted everything into one arm to fish the phone from her pocket. Her face immediately fell.
“Of all times…” she sighed, then sent an apologetic look Dan's way. “Mind if I…?”
“Take it,” Dan waved her off and took the cans from her. If it was who he thought it was on the other end of that call, he reckoned it might take her a while. “I'll get this sorted, no worries. Take your time.”
Letting him unburden her, Wilma hurried to step outside. “Glad to have you back,” she called over her shoulder as she lifted the phone to her ear and turned the corner.
Dan stood there for the briefest moment of reflection. It hadn't been long at all since, as far as most were concerned, he'd returned from his stint traveling. He couldn't exactly tell anyone where he'd been traveling, of course. Even after all the madness of the Flux, there weren't many people on Earth who would remotely understand life with the Doctor.
Now it was just a matter of adjusting to living life day to day back in the 21st century. Falling back into old habits like volunteering at the food bank gave Dan a sense of normalcy that didn't feel mind-numbingly mundane. He was still helping people, making a difference in their lives. So long as he could see them smile and know they wouldn't go to bed hungry, that was enough.
While he went about stocking the shelves, something skittered by in the corner of his eye.
Whatever he'd caught a glimpse of was small but fast, and probably would have gone overlooked by anyone else. Living a dangerous lifestyle throughout time and space even for a short time had heightened Dan's senses for these things, but as he glanced around the storeroom, he couldn't spot any further signs of movement.
Dan decided to leave it for now. It didn't exactly feel like a threatening presence just yet, and he could keep an eye on his back just in case.
He'd just started stocking donated pasta on a higher shelf when a clatter behind him made him jump. He whirled around to find a few cans of soup rolling across the floor after what seemed to be a spontaneous spill from a low shelf.
What got Dan's feet moving faster than usual was the other sound he could swear he heard in time with the crash– a faint but pained voice.
Dan hurried to kneel next to the mess, shaking his head when he noticed some volunteer before him thought it would be a bright idea to stack the cans on their side in a pyramid one shelf up from the floor. No wonder they'd gone rolling.
He was about to start reorienting them, but paused at the sight of something tucked slightly under one of the cans that remained on the shelf, near the base of the former pyramid. It seemed at first to be a tiny bundle of dark cloth, until Dan looked closer and saw part of it moving ever so slightly up and down. Like it was breathing, quite quickly.
Before he thought better of it, Dan reached out a hand to brush back some of the fabric.
The little bundle flinched, and Dan jerked his hand back with a choked, startled sound. Some of the cloth fell away as the thing twisted to face him, revealing it wasn't an it after all. Seemed to be a he.
Dan and this tiny figure stared at one another with wide eyes for a moment, the latter with what seemed to the former like little pinpricks of cobalt blue. Now that he had the context of what he was looking at, the wee fellow looked human-like, only he was small enough to fit in Dan's hand.
The bloke had a darker complexion than Dan's fair one, and short copper-red hair that he'd kept hidden under a hood before. His chin had a bit of scruff in a similar color, though Dan noticed a patch or two that were turning white. Among all the questions flooding Dan's head, he briefly wondered if he and this little person were of similar age.
That all went away as he took in the rest of the teeny figure, and found that one of his legs was jammed under the can.
Dan’s hand moved in again the second he saw that, pausing only when he saw the little fella recoil and raise an arm in defense. He tried not to let his heart sink to realize just how frightening he was.
“S’okay,” Dan whispered in a way he hoped was reassuring. “Not gonna hurt ya. Let's just get you outta there.”
The tiny man frowned but didn't seem swayed. Dan went ahead anyway, moving slowly so as not to startle him again. With one hand he held the other cans in place to keep them from rolling about again, and with the other he lifted the one pinning the poor man's leg.
With the weight lifted, the man wasted no time rolling away and jumping to his feet, but he gave another pained grunt and stumbled away to lean on an upright-standing can. Dan put down the one in his hand and made sure it kept the rest in place before he removed his hands just as slowly.
“Alright?” Dan asked, watching with concern as the man slid himself down to sit. He got a sharp side-eye in reply before the man focused on examining his leg. Biting back a wince to watch him tenderly prod at his ankle and shin, he added, “I could fetch a first aid kit if you're hurt–”
“I'm fine!”
The little man seemed almost as surprised by his sharp response as Dan was, and they ended up in another short staredown. When Dan seemed to back down without further argument, the man huffed and mumbled, “I will be fine…”
Dan was quickly distracted from the observation that the little fella didn't sound Scouse and the curious thought of how far he'd come to get to Liverpool, when the man drew up his trouser leg for a proper look at the state of his ankle. Bruises dark enough for even Dan to plainly see mottled the lower half of his leg, and the deeper parts were a little swollen.
Then he blinked when he thought he saw the bruises were getting smaller. Sure enough, he watched the edges slowly turn purplish, then yellow, and then return to light brown much more quickly than Dan had ever seen a bruise heal.
“Are you one of them aliens, like?” Dan blurted before he could think twice about it.
He found himself once again locked in a wide cobalt-blue stare as the little head whipped around. Dan couldn't tell if he was defensive or simply surprised by the question.
“I…what?”
Dan gave a shrug. “Wouldn't be the first I met. Couple a’ my mates were aliens! And if ya want, I could put you in touch with someone who's worked with em a lot, if you're stuck here and need any help gettin’ home–”
“I'm not a bloody alien, man!” he snapped, shutting Dan right up. “And I don't need your help!”
“Alright, mate, easy now,” said Dan, putting up his hands in surrender. “Only a suggestion…”
He saw the man tense up to see his hands, so Dan put them down. Miniscule shoulders released the slightest bit of tension as he went back to tending to his ankle.
Dan noticed the swelling hadn't gone down much near the joint, nor had the bruises lightened yet. “How long does, er, that usually take?” he asked tentatively.
This time he was ignored. The man sharply shoved his trouser leg back down to cover his ankle, and he set about carefully laying it out in front of himself.
Julie on Delena: "One of the things I really like about LJ Smith's books is that it took a very long time for Elena and Damon to reach any kind of détente, any kind of true connection, with each other. I want to make sure that we take our own sweet time with that, as well, because you have to believe it."
Series Endgame Set: Plec revealed that she and executive producer Kevin Williamson set the series’ ending while writing the seventh episode of season two in an Atlanta mall. “We were tired and stressed and talked about the last character moments of the show and both started crying in the middle of the mall and just felt like that was right,” she recalled.
Julie specified Stelena were the true love right now but their fans use old quotes to mean in general: "The fans take the Damon, Elena and Stefan love triangle very seriously. It reminds me of when I worked on Dawson's Creek and we would honestly get into verbal brawls about whether Joey should be with Dawson or Pacey. We did that right up until the very end!" So where do things stand now on TVD? "We know that the show's true love right now is Stefan and Elena—but then you have Damon, and he is like the show's Pacey, so we can't count him out."
Kevin on 3x10: "You can’t just have Elena jump into bed with someone because that’s what the writer wants them to do. You have to earn it, and the character has to do it. It took us this long to earn it. From the second episode of this show, when she walked into the Salvatore mansion and she met Damon for the first time and he kissed her hand, that’s when it began. It just took us two and a half years to say, “I think they can kiss. We’ve earned it.”
SE fans' reaction to 3x10:
IGN TV: I respect the romantic aspects of The Vampire Diaries, even if it’s not the main draw for me. Of course, that being said, Elena and Damon’s kiss was something people had obviously been waiting a long time for.
Kevin Williamson: Yeah. And it also made a lot of people mad. [Executive Producer] Julie [Plec] and I, that night… I texted her and was like, “Did you get some death threats on your Twitter?” And she goes, “I got some death threats and some other unseemly things.” I go, “Yeah, I got a couple of ‘F*gs’ and a couple of death threats.” We were listing all the bad things they were saying.
Kevin before season 3: "And, she’s[Elena] going to be faced with what Katherine said at the end of the show, which is that it’s okay to love both of them, because it might not be. Not for her. That was Katherine’s choice, but it may not be Elena’s choice. That’s going to be the rest of our series. It’s that one line she uttered. She does love both of them, but it’s what she does about it. You can love a lot of people, but it’s the actions you take. It’s going to be her turn, which I’m so excited about."
Before season 4: Kevin Williamson says TVD season 4 is the season of change.
And Julie said in the second half of season 3 that Elena will be asking herself has she fallen for Damon or has she been falling for him all along but this question never got answered in season 3, but was indirectly addressed in 3x16.
SE fans claim Kevin respected the source material more than Julie and therefore the show would've been better with him despite this quote and multiple others: The books are called "The Vampire Diaries," so we knew we had to have a journalling element. Although, Kevin, to this day, he hates it so much -- even we first started he said "I can't wait until we can get rid of this diary stuff."
Them on Steroline during season 3: I know what you’re thinking. The two of them have barely shared any screen time since season 2, when Stefan helped Caroline adjust to being a vampire. But when they did, it was so good. Turns out, I’m not the only one who noticed. Williamson revealed he’s well aware of the chemistry between the two characters and he’d like to see their relationship evolve. ”We touched on that in the second season a little bit. We always know it’s there, and if anything, I yearn to see some more moments between them as friends,” says Williamson, who also points out that Caroline has chemistry with practically every guy in Mystic Falls. “There’s a lot of shipping to do for her.” Tell me about it. For Plec, Caroline’s relationship with Stefan is reminiscent of his friendship with Lexie (Arielle Kebbel), the vampire who helped him find his humanity throughout the years, until she was eventually killed by Damon. ”We’ve always said that Caroline — even if we don’t play it on the forefront, but in the life of the series — is Lexie,” explains Plec. “It’s only a matter of time before that friendship is allowed to grow and be fostered.”
"because you have to believe it."
That's one of the reasons I love Delena. They're more believable based on how they're written.
I fully agree on the Series Endgame Set.
"We know that the show's true love right now is Stefan and Elena"
The "right now" of that statement is everything.
Kevin's comment about 3x10 is insanely awesome to me because that's how I feel about a lot of things. Like I feel season 4 Elena earned the right to be with Damon because she died for everyone else. It was the right time for her to be selfish, to take what she wants and have fun. And whenever I talk about Delena, I talk about them earning what they have because they built it. They put in the work.
It's not consctructive, but insanely childish to send death threats to the writers. A mature person would tell the writers why they feel Damon and Elena shouldn't have kissed in 3x10. But most fans are about their feelings rather than the writing.
"It’s going to be her turn"
Yeah, that's basically what they're doing with Katherine and Elena. They've been repeating history since the moment Stefan entered Elena's life. That's why I tell my followers to pay mind to their flashbacks because they foreshadow a lot. And yes, it's Elena's turn to love both brothers and choose between them. What's insanely beautiful to me is how they wrote Elena opposite Katherine. For Katherine, she's drawn to Stefan's light. For Elena, she's drawn to Damon's darkness. It's a natural attraction based on how they're written.
"season 4 is the season of change."
Fully agree with this.
When I re-watch season 3, I'll gather every indirect admission for Elena because there are quite a few. Elena reciprocating Damon's kiss in 3x10 is an indirect admission. But that's what I mean about season 3. Elena is too afraid to admit it directly, so there are a lot of indirects. Vampirism helps Elena through her fear. This allows her direct admissions in season 4.
I actually like the diary stuff, but I do favor Damon's writing above Stefan's and Elena's.
“There’s a lot of shipping to do for her.” I feel this is true for both Caroline and Damon. They could pair them with anyone and it would sell... I just don't like Caroline's personality. tbh, I love her most when she flips her switch. There's not a paring of Damon's that I hate because he sells it, but I value specifics based on his character journey.
Newest episode thoughts incoming.
So I actually got to do the live listen this time, since I'm off for summer break. I'll get to do two or three more throughout July, which is exciting. But I kind of wish that I hadn't had all of the extra distractions. I usually crawl into bed at the end of my work day after dinner and listen without anything else going on.
On to the episode:
First of all, Willy controlling the other dads with the collars is still blowing my mind. It makes sense that he would mimic that from season 1, but it also feels a little bit out of nowhere. We haven't seen or heard from the kiddads since "The Staircase", so it feels a bit out of left field.
And boy do I want to hear that fight and know more about how that went down. Willy overpowered all four of them? I mean, sure, he's a powerful dude, but it still blows me away.
After the opening and understanding that Terry Jr is being controlled, there's mostly just a lot of planning of how they're going to get into this other building with the Papa John people (why are they back??? They weren't in the city before - what the heck is the anchor that's in there???) before we get to the crazy ending that has my brain reeling.
It's a bit of a crazy plan, and it doesn't go well. At the end of all of this, they still haven't gotten into the place they need to get, Grant has killed Terry, and the party is split. Taylor, normal, and Link are all on the ground, and Hermie and Terri are still on the roof. And the Black Parade, which had decided that Terry was their leader, is now leaderless again.
And what was Nick doing this whole time??? Hopefully some awesome subterfuge that helps them all out next time.
The last time somebody (Tony Pepperoni) died on the show, they did a time jump. We can't do that here. (Please don't do that here). That means these teens just don't get any time to process what they just witnessed. Heck, technically the boys on the ground didn't see anything. They just would have heard the gunshot.
While there is a big part of me that wants Normal to cast Revivify, one, he can't exactly do that from his position on the ground, and two, I do kind of want this death to matter narratively. It feels like if he were to cast it, the death would have no weight. I guess that's a problem with the rules of D&D in general.
I don't know where this is headed, and I don't know how they're going to get the next anchor. This one should be the last one, right? Does that mean we're in the end game? Numbers-wise, if they were planning for this season to be as long as the first, we'd only be about halfway there.
Is Willy going to see Terri as she is right now? He still didn't want Terry Jr (or the other dads, presumably) to hurt her. Huh. That's making me realize a couple of things: 1. Willy knows that she didn't actually kill the other teens. Otherwise, how would he know to tell the kiddads to shoot them? So, 2. That means he knows that Scary lied to him and still doesn't want to hurt her. He needs her for something. I've been assuming that he plans to sacrifice her (or some equivalent), so my guess is that explains why he wouldn't be upset by her betrayal.
This episode has truly blown my mind. So many twists and turns with this one. I am excited to see what happens next.
It’s Not That Bad
Julieta x p!reader Fanfic
And for those of you wondering, Agustín and Julieta are divorced in this story
:D
Julieta Madrigal, is the eldest of the Madrigal triplets, the healer, the caretaker, a mother, and just a loving person in general. You wouldn’t think that Julieta would ever get truly sick, as she could easily just heal herself with an arepa or two. However, this case was different, she had been burning herself out too much, over-working, and having little to no time for herself. It was basically starting to look like an undiagnosed mental illness.
You, being her best friend, decided to go check in on her and the family, see how they’ve been doing, and how you could be of any help. You were very close to the family, as you’d pass by them so often in town, dance and play under Pepa’s rain, helping Julieta cook, though you weren’t fond of the culinary arts, you still loved working with your best friend and her sister. Because of how close you bonded with the two, Alma, along with the rest, had already welcomed you into their casa without any need for an invitation, as if you were their family. Since you wanted to scare Julieta that day, you went in without a warning, and slowly crept into the kitchen. Seeing the older woman, knead the dough, creating yet another recipe, you stared for a moment. She turned her head, and you almost screamed at the sudden movement. You traced her every move, trying so hard not to get caught, “5..4..3..2..1”, you whisper like a child playing the seeker in hide-and-seek. After, you finally jump behind her.
“Boo!”, your laughter matching that of a child, successfully getting a scare out of her.
“Ahh! Y-Y/N!? What are you-“, you interrupted the woman before she could finish a mere sentence, and threw yourself onto her, almost giving her yet another heart attack. “Hola juliiiiii!!”, you squeal in excitement, hugging your best friend. “H-hola Y/N! *sighs* you really need to stop scaring me like that! I’m much more susceptible to heart attacks, you know?!”, the older woman exclaimed in frustration.
“Alright, alright, Lo siento…”, you apologize to the older woman, whose cheeks were now as red as apples, not just from the sweat you caused her to drip, but because of something else. You raise both of your hands and cup her cheeks. “Who’s my cute wittle Juli..hmm? Squish squish squish!”, you force a cute voice, annoying her even more. She can’t deny though, every time you did this, she felt something more, but she constantly tried to tell herself it was just friendly banter, or normal teasing. “Hey now! Stop it, Y/N!”, Julieta squirmed. You then took a firmer grip on her face, feeling all the heat and sweat at once.
“Juli!? Why are you burning up?! You need to rest!”, you take her hand off her mixing bowl, place it on the counter, and bring her up to her room, not even giving her a window to reply, as you know she’d make just another excuse to get back to work. “Y/N! I’m fine! Stop it!”, she shrugs your hand off hers, pulling it away. You grab it again, and gripped it more firmly this time. “Julieta, you need to rest! Seriously..you’ve been overdoing it, even though you tell everyone else not to. That’s just not right”, your eyebrows flex downward, creating your typical frown. “B-but I still have arepas to finish..”, she gives you this cute, pouting face. “Ay Juli..please don’t..please just rest! No buts!”
You finally got to put her to bed, and took care of her well. Kissing her all over her face, cuddling her, making her feel warm, and caressing her cheeks. You reminded her that she’s only human, and only one person. You constantly reassured her whenever she needed reassurance, and told her how much you loved her. You listed down all the things you loved about her in your mind the very first day you met her, so it wasn’t impromptu when it came out of your mouth, you just knew her all too well. She was shocked, as these were the things she does when someone special to her is sick, especially you, her best friend.
“You know, Y/N..you were right! It’s not that bad to take breaks every now and then. Thank you for taking care of me..”, Julieta says while ruffling your hair. “You bet! I’m always here for you, Juli”, you kiss her hand and sing her to sleep. You sang her the song “Edelweiss” from “The Sound of Music”, which she loved and knew all the lyrics to, by heart!
You grab out your guitar which you packed for your visit. She sees you tuning the guitar, and her eyes relaxed in the comfort of you in front of her eyes.
“Edelweiss, edelweiss…”,
Your voice rung through her ears
“Every morning you greet me..”
“Small and white”,
She began harmonizing with you, adding onto your voice, which made it sound better.
“Small and white”
“Clean and bright”
“Clean and bright~”
“Bless my homeland forever…”
You finish off with a soft strum, playing a G chord.
“I didn’t know you could play, Y/N!”, she claps softly as her drowsy eyes begin to close. “Gracias, mi amiga! Buenos noches, y te amo..”, you smiled at her once more, kissing her goodnight on the forehead.
Morning came, and you had already prepared breakfast for her family and children. And for Juli, you made her some huevos rotos con chorizo, one of her favorites.
“Buenos dias señora Julieta!”, you said with a teasing tone in your voice.
“Ay Y/N..Buenos dias to you as well! And thank you very much for the food! I’m delighted”, she said, putting her finger to her cheek, wanting you to give her kisses again. So you did, but this time, she felt a little something more than what she felt yesterday, and she was aware of it now, which scared her. The more you took care of her, the more she didn’t want to get better, so she did what she had to do to keep you closer. She did the one thing you’d never expect her to do…
Lie.
She’d ask you to sit beside her more often, sing to her, lull her to sleep, cuddle with her, soon enough you began to feel something for her. Neither of you wanted to show your true feelings or confess, as you were both afraid of losing your friendship. As days turned to a week, you were concerned why Julieta wasn’t getting any better, so you went upstairs, turned her doorknob, and saw her crying. She had felt bad for lying to you, which you hadn’t known, but were about to find out.
“Julieta?! What’s wrong?? Please tell me!! Did I do something wrong..?”, the worry in your voice grew.
“I’m so sorry for lying to you, Y/N…I-I just wanted you to be closer to me”, she sniffles and turns to the opposite side, away from you.
“Wait..you lied to me??”, the world went quiet for a moment, and suddenly you realized.
“Yes..but I-“, you interrupted her, and kissed her soft lips. “I-I love you too, Juli…I was just too afraid we would lose our friendship..”
She returns the kiss, presses a little more obviously, “mi vida, I love you more..I just don’t wanna lose you..”, a tear rolls down her cheek, and she smiles at you as you blush profusely. You both get up from the bed and hold hands. “I promise you, I’m not mad. So don’t look down, okay? I’m here now..”, you looked at the brunette staring at her feet. “Thank you, Y/N! Now..I must get back to cooking! Mi familia needs me!”, Julieta jumps up excitedly, to go back to what she was made to do. She was kind of sad to not have this intimacy for a while, but you assured her that from now on, you would never leave her again.
Story of Another Us
Pairing: Luke Patterson x fem!Reader
Description: After Julie finds a song Luke wrote about you, he reminisces on his moments with you
A/N: The song Luke wrote is Story of Another Us by 5 Seconds of Summer i highly recommend listening to it
Warnings: Cussing
Word count: 1.7k
Part 2
Julie is a curious person by nature, nobody can deny that. So when Luke gave her his journal and told her to look at all the dog eared songs, she couldn’t stop herself from reading them all. When she got to the last song in the journal she hesitated. It was not dog eared and looked to be the newest written. Most words were crossed out and corrections were written between the margins, she turned the page to find the final version of the song, written coherently. She raised her brows at the wet spots that stained some of the words. She read through it, her own eyes tearing up and threatening to smudge the beautiful lyrics composed by her lead guitarist.
The faint pop Julie has grown to recognize startles her. She meets Luke’s eyes and tries to flip the notebook back to another page but he catches sight of it before she can.
He stays quiet for a second and Julie bites her lip in anticipation.
“What is it that you always say Jules? Boundaries?” The look in his eyes is a mixture of anger, betrayal, and pure sadness, and it breaks Julie’s heart.
“I’m sorry,” she whispers. She doesn’t know what else to say and ultimately decides to risk asking the question that is on the forefront of her mind. “Luke, who is the song about?”
He sighs and takes a sit next to her on the bed, there’s no point in lying to her. “My girlfriend.”
“Girlfriend?” Julie asks, both confused and surprised.
“Yeah ex-girlfriend I guess. We uh dated back in the 90s,” a sad smile on his face as he spoke. “She was there the night of the concert but she hated hotdogs so she stayed back with Bobby at the Orpheum. I didn’t want to think about her when we first came back but last week I looked her up and I went to see her. She has a family, married, children everything that we talked about having together.” Tears were falling down his face and Julie wanted nothing more than to be able to hug him.
“I-“ she started but what was she supposed to say? Luke shook his head, not finished talking.
“Her youngest son, his name is-“ he pressed a fist against his mouth, biting back a sob. “She named him Luke.” It’s something that took him by surprise when he heard her call his name. For a second he thought she meant him, but then he saw the cute nine-year-old dashing into the room, smiling brightly at his mother.
“Oh.”
“And I am so happy for her but I just, I guess I finally realized just how much I lost that night.” He finally turned his head and made eye contact with Julie.
“Tell me about her,” she said. Luke’s eyes widened, not expecting that to be her response. He regained his composure and nodded his head, thinking back to the moments you shared together.
. . .
You’re sitting on the couch, waiting for the boys to get back to the studio after playing at the pier for change. You actually had school and therefore could not go and watch them but you have the rest of the day off and decided to spend it with your favorite people.
The loud, excited voice of your boyfriend breaks you from your thoughts. He pushes the door of the garage turned studio open and smiles when he spots you. He rushes to the couch and throws himself on top of you. You grunt and try to push him off, which only causes him to hold you tighter.
“Get off me you doofus. You’re sweaty and gross,” you exclaim. He looks at you in mock hurt and you use his surprise to your advantage and push him off the couch. You sit up and wave at the rest of the guys.
Bobby smiles and shakes his head walking forward to ruffle your hair. Alex and Reggie make it seem like they will throw themselves on top of you too and you scream, raising your arms over your head in defense, making everyone laugh. You stick your tongue out at them and look down at your boyfriend still laying on the floor.
“How was your physics test?” He asks, remembering last night’s mental breakdown about you not understanding anything. He always felt useless in those situations, never having taken physics himself after dropping out, so he couldn’t help you study. He normally just holds you close and hopes you stop crying, because regardless of what Alex says, he would never leave you to cry alone.
“Meh, pretty sure I passed but I never know.” You shrug your shoulders dismissing any thoughts of your grades.
Bobby laughs and points an accusatory finger at you, “You always say that and you always end up being the highest score. Don’t give us that ‘meh’ bullshit.”
You throw a pillow at him but he easily catches it and throws it at Reggie, who gets hit in the head. Reggie complains and both you and Bobby chuckle at his inconvenience.
Luke finally gets up from the floor and sits next to you on the couch, pulling your body to lean against his. You’re used to this proximity, realizing early in your relationship that Luke is a very touchy person and has to have physical contact with someone at all times.
You smile and look up to him, asking how the performance at the pier went. He excitedly goes on about how people complemented them and how he knows that they are on their way to becoming big and you can’t help but agree. If there is one thing you know is that Sunset Curve is on their way to greatness.
. . .
“She believed in me, in all of us. Every second of spare time she had, she spent helping us get gigs. She would even sit on that old coach while we practiced and do her homework.”
Julie smiled at the way his eyes lit up. “She sounds amazing. Though I am surprised she was able to concentrate with you guys playing.”
Luke laughs and shakes his head. “She was not. She would yell at us and blame us if she didn’t do well on a test, but we always convinced her to stay when she tried to leave.”
. . .
You tried to block out the loud playing of instruments as you read Lord of the Flies for your english class. You snap the book shut and let out a frustrated sigh standing up abruptly and making your way out the door.
Luke stops singing and slips his guitar off before rushing over to you.
“Hey where are you going?” Luke asks a little breathless, bouncing on the balls of his feet, his body still full of adrenaline.
“I can’t concentrate,” you reply. “I’m pretty sure I have a test on the first four chapters tomorrow.” You look up to find him pouting adorably at you. You roll your eyes and try to leave again but he grabs your arm.
“We’re almost done. Let us just finish this song and then we were all just going to write. Just don’t leave.” His eyes are pleading with you and you know that you won’t decline. You let him lead you back to the couch and you sit down, reopening your book and trying to finish the chapters assigned.
Five minutes later the guys were all milling on different areas of the studio with a pen and an instrument, working on melodies as Luke works on lyrics on the floor in front of you leaning back against your legs. You run your hand absentmindedly through his hair as the other holds up the book.
The pager clipped to your jeans beeps and you glance down at it, your eyes widening when you see the message. You stand up quickly, dropping your book on Luke’s head in the process. You ignore the calls of pain and protest from your boyfriend as you run out of the shed and into the house. You greet Bobby’s mom and walk to the living room where the landline is at. You dial the number quickly and mumble “pick up” repeatedly under your breath. The club owner picks up and you talk for about fifteen minutes. At the end confirming a gig for Sunset Curve every Saturday this month at one of the hottest clubs in LA.
You scream with joy and run back to the studio yelling for their attention.
“Guess who just booked you guys a gig!” You exclaim, a joyous smile on your lips. The boys all jump up from their places around the room and rush to hug you but you raise your hands stopping them in their tracks. “Sunset Curve will be performing every Saturday this March at The Reserve!”
They all freeze, mouths opening in shock before they tackle you in a hug and jumping around in excitement. Luke pulls you close against him and kisses you desperately, trying to convey every emotion he is feeling at the moment. The guys cheer like they always do whenever Luke kisses you in front of them.
They all give you their thanks and a hug before Luke pulls you back to the couch, picking up his lyric journal and placing your hand back in his hair. The room is still buzzing with excitement but your force yourself to concentrate as you pick your book back up and continued reading.
. . .
Luke looks down at his hands, “She was the love of my life, quite literally, and I guess that now in my death I have to learn to live without her.”
Julie let her hand hover over his and if she concentrated hard enough she swears she could feel the heat radiating off his skin. “It’s a beautiful song Luke and she sounds like she loved you very much. Just remember that getting over her doesn’t mean forgetting her.”
Luke smiles at his friend, thankful to have met her and have her be a part of his (after)life. He looks down at his journal, eyes skimming over the song. “Do you think,” he pauses. “Do you think it’s good enough to perform?”
Julie stares him like he’s insane. “Anything you write is good enough to perform, especially this song.” Luke turns away, a blush creeping up his cheeks.
“Thanks Jules.”
masterlist
Your parents burst through the door after you.
Your mother looked like she was going to claw your eyes out. She got closer to you, “how could you do this to me?” A slap went across your face stinging you.
“Do this to you? This is my life! Im an adult! And you can’t control me anymore!”
“That’s where you are wrong! You are going to marry Kyle whether you say yes or not!”
You run upstairs and your parents go back into the party announcing that you were overcome with emotion and said yes to Kyle’s proposal.
You flail yourself onto the bed. The only thing running through your mind was who was that Mr. J.
Your thoughts were interrupted by Ivy coming into your room popping a bottle of champagne and it foaming onto your floor.
“Congrats Y/N! How does it feel to almost be a kept woman?!” she says downing the alcohol.
“Feels great,” you say sarcastically.
“Awe honey, why so down?”
“I don't want to marry him! It makes me sick to my stomach just thinking that I might be Mrs. Y/N Mondragon. You remember what it was like when I was dating him, what I was like dating him!”
“Listen I understand but maybe tonight we have a little pre-bachelorette party?!” she said with a squeal.
You glare at her, “Okay hear me out. Me, you, and those girls who have their daddy’s black card go to this very cool new spot, Haly’s. And get totally wasted!”
You think out loud, “Well I do like the idea of getting wasted and probably embarrassing my mother and her reputation even more, oh what the hell I’m in.”
She jumps up in excitement, “Awesome! Let’s go!.”
She drags you by your arm and you grab the opened champagne bottle and down the alcohol and go downstairs to where the rich bitches are. You don't know why you agreed to go out if you knew that they were going to be there. They were some of the worst people on the planet. But you wanted to get wasted so maybe your drinking could cover up their worst qualities.
After Ivy told the girls that the bachelorette party was on, they squealed and you were sure that if they kept up with that, you would need a hearing aid.
You all walk out to the limo and pile in.
Still downing the champagne, the girls started to undress and you were confused. “Um, why are you all getting undressed?”
Ivy says, “Oh my god Y/N we were just at a fancy party. We can’t go to a club in our fancy dresses.”
“Okay, but where are you getting the non-fancy clothes from?”
“When you’re like me Y/N who goes from work to play all the time you need to be prepared.” she smiles and pulls from the side of her a suitcase full of small tight clothes.
The girls snatch whatever they could and you find strewn around the floor a dress. It was nice and you started to get undressed. And put the dress on and you let your hair down, hoping to just have a wild night.
You and the group walked up to the rope and were immediately let in. It looked like you walked on the set of Moulin Rouge. Music was thumping through your chest, the lights were dazzling.
You smile and you feel as if this is where you belonged.
You were actually having fun with the girls which is something you thought would never happen.
You were a little out of breath and made your way to the bar for a seat. You look across the dance floor and you see your group having a fun time.
You felt a tap on your shoulder, you swivel around and the bartender hands you a drink, “Um I didn’t order this.”
He motions his head to your right and there was a VIP booth but you couldn’t see due to the club being almost at full capacity.
You take a sip and it was the best thing you’ve ever tasted. You call back the bartender, “What is this?”
“It’s called the Laughing Gas.”
You thought the name was odd but you downed it and ordered another one and did the same.
You walk back to the group and they were all passing around some “candies” one of the girls just bought. It was a type of acid and without hesitation you let it dissolve on your tongue.
It didn’t take long for the drugs to hit your system because you were already pretty tipsy.
The lights were singing and the music was bright. You felt as though time slowed down. And as if you were in a movie the crowd parted and you saw him, Mr. J.
You felt your heart flutter at the sight of him, both of you started to walk towards each other.
You gazed up at him and met your eyes with his, a smile crept on his face and then one on yours.
He extended his hand, gesturing you to dance with him and you happily took it.
Even though the music was meant for grinding, he danced you into a waltz.
You felt as though there was no one in the room. He made you feel as if you were the only one in the world. His eyes never left your eyes and nor you his.
The song was coming to an end and he dipped you.
Then all came to and the music was thumping loudly. Neither of you said a word to each other. But you understood one another.
A man came up to him and whispered something in his ear. His face then became annoyed, he looked back at you and lightly kissed you on the cheek, and whispered against your ear sending chills down you, “Until we see each other again my queen.”
He slips in your hand a flower but not just any flower but one of those joke flowers you get at the magic shop.
With that, he left you in the middle of the dance floor. There was still flutter in your heart just thinking about him.
Your group found you and dragged you back to party with them. You did but you kept looking back at the door to see if he would walk back in for you.
The night raged on and the driver drove you all home.
You crawled into your bed knowing that you were going to regret everything in the morning.
You must have gotten only 4 hours of sleep when your mother walked into your room opening all the blinds.
The rays of light felt as if they burned your eyelids, “Mom what the hell?”
“We have so much to do before the wedding.”
With that comment, you wanted to cry. Last night you had forgotten all about you being engaged.
“Mom the wedding is months away.” you groaned into your pillow.
“No, it’s not dear it’s on Sunday.”
You shot right out of bed, “What do you mean it’s on Sunday?! You mean this Sunday?!”
“Honestly Y/N calm down it’s just marriage.”
You storm out of your room yelling, “You’re the fucking worst!”
You run downstairs, “Miss Y/N this was addressed to you,” the maid, Flora, handed you a card.
I’m sorry for running out on you last night. You have been on my mind all night. I hope these flowers make up for it. -J
Flora then hands you a bouquet of flowers, they were Belladonnas or as others may know them as Deadly Nightshade. They were your favorite flowers.
Again your heart flutters, you smell the flowers and Flora takes them into the kitchen for a vase and pruning.
You flip the small card over and he wrote his number. You wanted to call him but you didn’t want to seem desperate, but yet again why would he put his number on the card if he didn’t want you to call him.
Your mother came downstairs and told you to go get ready.
You rolled your eyes and did as you were told.
You were picking out your clothes in just your bra and underwear when your mother yet again came in unannounced.
“God mom can’t I have any privacy?”
“Hush down. Are you seriously going to be wearing that?” She said in disgust pointing at your choice of clothes.
She raided your closet and picked out something she wouldn’t be too embarrassed to be seen with you in.
“Luckily dear we are going out and we can get you a new wardrobe.”
She leaves and you put on her choice of clothes.
The car ride into town was anxiety-inducing. Your mother going over the list of things that need to be done for the wedding.
With your mom basically picking out everything for the wedding you were just there in the background. The last thing that your mother had to do was go to the florist and pick out the bouquet and the centerpieces.
You wander around the store and end up in the back and spot a familiar person.
Ivy’s eyes light up when she sees you walking towards her, “Y/N what are you doing here?”
“Mom is picking out the floral arrangement for the wedding,” you tense up when you said the word wedding.
“Oh, it’s not going well?”
“She’s such a dictator when it comes to this shit.”
“Wanna escape for a little bit?”
You look back at your mother that was on the phone yelling at someone.
“Yes,” you say quickly.
She leads you outside and you enter a greenhouse.
There were beautiful flowers and greenery everywhere.
“So did you have fun last night?”
You wander through the isles of the flowers, “It was one of the most amazing nights of my entire life.”
“So what did happen when you left our group?”
“I met someone,” you say sheepishly.
“Oh! Do tell!” she says honestly wanting to know more.
“Well, it was like magic when we met. Everything slowed down.”
“It sounds like you’re in love Y/N.”
“I think I might be Ivy,” you say staring off into space, not seeing that Ivy rolled you a joint.
You and her chat and smoke for a long time not noticing that hours have gone by.
You both walk back into the florist shop and your mom wasn’t there. You called her and she didn’t answer.
“Y/N I’m sorry but I have to bolt. Do you have a ride home?”
“I’ll figure it out.”
“Okay love you.”
“Love you too Ive.”
It was already dark out and no one in your house was answering the phone.
There was only one other person you could and your heart was fluttering again.
As if you weren’t in control of your body you dial his number.
His voice sounded like the one thing that you’ve been missing in your life, “I’ve been expecting your call beautiful.”
You couldn’t help but giggle like a schoolgirl, “I'm sorry for taking so long, had a busy day. Listen, I'm sorry for asking you this but is there any way you can pick me up?”
“Of course! I’ll be right there. Where are you?”
“I'm at the florist shop on 6th.”
“See you in a bit, my queen.”
Lovely Breeze
fic prompts week 1
prompt: lakeside picnic
song: strawberry blond - mitski
pairing: Sam Kiszka x Female OC (Vivi)
rating: fluff
warnings: none
summary: Vivi wants to do something nice for Sam for their 1st year anniversary so she decides to take him to his happy place
notes: I've been considering doing this for a while, it was just recently that i got into a mind to do it. i hope you enjoy this!
✧・゚: *✧・゚:*✧・゚: *✧・゚:*✧・゚: *✧・゚:*✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
There were always a lot of small lakes, ponds and rivers down by Frankenmuth. At least that's what Sam is always telling Vivian. She has personally never been so she can't say but he talks so fondly about his exciting memories of running down hills and falling into the water while his siblings laugh their asses off at his failure, or setting off fireworks for the 4th of July, or making his way passed them during the light hours of the morning on the few days he had to walk himself to school. It's not that there is a lack of bodies of water in Tennessee, it just isn't the same.
Their first 1 year anniversary is coming up and Vivi finds herself stressed, scrolling and typing on her laptop frantically searching for somewhere to take him. Despite Sam being a bit of a night owl, he retreated to bed hours ago. It's currently 2:00 A.M and Vivi is certain the lack of sleep isn't helping her brain process. She groans dramatically and flops back on the couch in defeat.
Almost on cue, she feels her phone start to buzz in her back pocket and she sits up with a start. She pulls it out quickly and sees that Jake is calling her. She takes a second to be confused, boggled at why he'd be calling her so late, and fairly quickly remembers that Jake's usual bedtime is like 4:00 A.M and gets over her confusion as she answers. "What's up, nerd" she says as she puts the phone to her ear. "Not to late in the night to insult me, huh?" Jake asks sarcastically.
Vivi chuckles a bit. "Okay but seriously, why are you calling me so late?" "Yours and Sam's anniversary is in a couple days, right?" he answers with a question. "Uh, yeah. Why? There's no reason you should be calling me for that, everything is completely under control" she says with as much wavering false confidence as she can muster. She hears Jake audibly sigh on the other end and giggle a bit. "i think i have an idea of what you could do" Vivi sits up straight at this and grabs her paper and pen to write down whatever information Jake is about to dump on her.
In a couple of days, her and Sam are on a bit of a road trip. Not an extremely long one, but long enough to need a bathroom break or 2. Vivi is very close to having a fist fight with the GPS on her phone as she drives towards the remote area and Sam is practically jumping with joy. Sadly, it's only early spring, so though it's warm, it's still not quite warm enough to go swimming in the lake Jake directed her too. They pull up to the dirt parking lot in front of a wall of trees with a paved nature trail leading into the thick forest.
Sam hops out of the car and Vivi grumpily follows, still aggravated by the 5 wrong turns she made because of her shitty GPS. She can't stay mad for long, however, when she sees Sam rummaging through the trunk to get their things. He hands her the picnic planet while he carries the cooler. He pops a pair of sunglasses on her face, pink and shaped like hearts and she makes the connection that they must be Sam's. He starts quickly walking ahead and it takes Vivi a second to fully realize he's even gone.
A bit down the path, Sam is picking flowers and picking up random rocks and trinkets he finds, setting them in his little bag. Vivi feels his hand reach up and place a dandelion behind her ear, tucking back her long black hair. "Thanks, doll" she says and he smiles, proud of himself for considering the small gesture. "ugh, it's been so long sense i've been to a pond. Like, an actual nice pond surrounded by trees" he rambles. "And hopefully we"ll have the place to ourselves, considering the state of the parking lot"
When they finally arrive, Sam has already taken his flip flops off, which Vivi had to basically fight him to wear because last time they when on a nature walk, Sam got a stick stuck in his foot for being an idiot and not wearing shoes like an adult. He still has a scar there. She fumbles her way down the wooden stairs reaching to the sandy part of the pond and tosses their stuff down. Sam is standing by the water and staring at the surroundings. Sam hears a soft clicking sound from behind him and turns quickly to see Vivi taking the Polaroid out of her small camera.
Sam pretends to look offended by gasping and dramatically placing his hand on his chest. Vivi giggles. "Sorry, you looked cute and i wanted to remember it. Is that such a crime?" she says as she puts her hair in a bun, being careful not to lose the flower. Sam makes his way back to her to help her set up. he fixes the blanket and she starts pulling food out of the cooler. Sam hands her a beer and she pushes it back to him. She points to herself. "designated driver, remember, doll?" Sam shrugs and he cracks it open for himself. Sam enjoys the warm and slightly chilly spring breeze. Vivi takes another picture of Sam eating and one of the pond. "Quite the photographer today, aren't we" Sam teases. "Well, it is an important occasion" she responds and leans down to kiss him.
He let's her. It's short and sweet, just enough for her to taste the bit of fruit he had just been eating, and his cheeks are rose pink. She'd want to take another picture nut knows a Polaroid won't fully capture the feeling of this moment. To be honest, it probably wouldn't even pick up the blush on his cheeks. She moves and sits behind him so he's in between her legs. She takes out an extra hair tie and puts his hair back, giving a couple small pecks on his neck. He blushes even more but she can't see it from where she's sitting. he reaches beside her and picks a small purple wild flower and places it behind his ear. "Matching" she says softly. "Yeah... matching" Sam mimics before turning to give her another kiss.
"Thank you for taking me out here" he says. "Eh, really it's Jake you should be thanking. He told me about this place" "Well that was nice of him but he's not here and it's our anniversary so i'll stick with thanking you" Sam rebuttals. "Well okay then. I'll take that" Vivi says as she wraps her arms around Sam's waist and the two spend the rest of their day in soft and warm peace.
The leap chapter 2 Albert wesker x GN reader
❗⚠️Warnings: Toxic behavior, possessiveness, slightly decision of death/being killed. Please read with caution if any of these things are triggering to you. ⚠️❗
A/n: Hello bitches and bros and nonbinary hoes! Little A/N here so I had to rewrite chapter 2 because I was satisfied with the original one. I may publish it as a later chapter or publish it as a alternative chapter 2. But I don't think it would make much sense since the original chapter 2 is very fluffy best to say. It had a kiss scene and everything 😳
Summary: Instead of Jill jumping out of the window to save Chris you take her place. Unaware of the things that will take place in the future. One simple decision has now completely changed your life for the better or worse?
Word count: 1,906
Chapter 1:
___________________________________________
It's been two weeks since your last encounter with Albert, the only form of human contact you had was with your doctors and nurse and that wasn't enough. The doctors came in for an hour while the nurse was coming in to check vitals and give you food so it was for maybe a couple of minutes. Then you would be alone, being alone by yourself made you think about many things. Escaping was one of the things you thought of but you could barely walk and the door in your room was always locked but that didn't stop you from forming a plan. It was a decent plan at best.
You had slightly memorized the time when the nurse would come in. Today you wanted to make a slight attempt to escape or maybe get another object that would benefit you in this plan. Over the course of a week you managed to steal a bobby pin. It wasn't much but it was something.
But the constant fear of getting caught by Albert was what you feared the most, you could only walk with a cane and you couldn't run yet and you could barely stand for five minutes. So if you did escape and the people who worked in this facility found out, Albert catching you would most likely happen. The thought of him running up to you scared you so much. You were pulled back into reality when the sound of the door unlocking filled your ears. It was 12:45pm a bit early for the nurse to come in, you stared at the door. When it opened you saw Albert walk in, he was wearing his normal attire and trademark sunglasses. You stared at him not saying a word, when Albert closed the door the sound of the door clicking once again filled your ears.
"Why hello there Mr. Wesker." You wanted to get him on his good side so that if you did escape and he caught you maybe he wouldn't kill you. You decided to refer to him as Mr. Wesker to try to get on his good side. You almost cringed when you said Mr. Wesker.
"How nice of you to greet me." Albert responded he had a smirk on his face when he said that.
"How are you today?" You began to ask hoping everything is going accordingly.
He began to sit on the end of your bed, Albert opened his mouth to speak: "I would say it's going very accordingly."
"That's good." You nodded your head in response to him.
The two of you sat in silence, you looked down at the bed sheets while Albert was looking at you. You felt nervous, scared is the best thing to say. You didn't want him catching onto you, you ripped his thoughts when Albert cleared his throat.
"You've been here in this room and I'm surprised you haven't made a big fuss out of it, you know if you keep up this good behavior I'll maybe allow you to walk around the facility with supervision, of course." Albert said as he moved closer to you.
'This is going to be easier than I thought, huh?' You thought to yourself. You nodded your head and put on a smile for him: "Thank you."
Albert once again moved closer, his face now inches away from yours. He grabbed your face and pulled it closer to his. This made your heart race, Albert had let out a chuckle: "You know you are a very good specimen so why not take you out on a little walk. Wouldn't you like that, hm?"
You felt so embarrassed and slightly humiliated you could tell he was toying with you like how a predator toys with their prey. Instead of saying anything you decided to nod your head.
"Now what do we say?" Albert said in a mocking tone. At this point you knew he was toying with you, trying to get under your skin.
"Thank you."
Once again Albert started to speak but this time he had let go of your face and stood up: "That's a good specimen."
You couldn't help but almost cringe when he called you that, you are already running thin on patience so one more thing out of his mouth is going to be the end of you. Albert offered to hold your hand, without thinking you took his hand. Albert pulled you close to him, you almost fell down due the sudden movement but Albert caught you.
"May I grab my cane, to help me walk. Please?" You asked
Albert nodded, you reached for the cane that was near your nightstand. Once you grabbed your cane you followed Albert who was waiting by the door.
'This is my chance to escape. But what if it doesn't work? Fuck it if I die here it will be better than being here.' When you reached Albert you heard the sound of the door unlocking, you noticed he was holding a key in his hand. When he proceeded to open the door without thinking you jabbed your cane into Albert, this caused him to fall over and drop his key. You took this opportunity to take the key and leave the room. When you left the room you slammed the door behind you making sure you locked it. Because you couldn't run you ended up speed walking through the empty hallways. Entering some rooms here and there to find any weapon to help you defend yourself against Albert.
When you entered what you assumed was a supply closet, you heard footsteps running pass the door and a familiar voice saying "You can't hide forever!"
Your heart began to beat fast, you had to compose yourself. This wasn't the time to panic. Standing for such a long time puts a strain on your legs, walking becomes harder to do. So staying in the supply closet was a must do. You sat in there for what seemed like 30 minutes once the pain died down a bit you stood up and started to head back into the hallway. Once again you walked the seemingly endless hallways, and you almost got caught by Albert a couple of times. You managed to not be seen by the workers in this facility.
You reached an area where there were no workers, you explored through it and found a door that could possibly lead to the exit. You began to walk faster with your legs once again in agonizing pain. You almost reached the door when you saw a familiar figure near the door.
'Shit!' You thought to yourself you began backing away when Albert began to approach you. You ended up trying to back away, unable to hide your emotions anymore fear ended up controlling you at this point. When Albert was now in front of you he began to chuckle a bit.
"This was such an entertaining game, it was so fun seeing you run around the facility thinking you were going to get out. You should see the look on your face, y/n." Albert cupped his hands on your cheeks.
"Let me fucking go." You spotted him.
"Hold your tongue, if I could I could kill you right now. Once again you probably want that."
"Why are you doing this?" You asked your voice slightly cracking
Albert had paused to think about his answer. He ended up ignoring the question all together. Albert began to change the conversation back to this whole fiasco.
"I'm having so much fun that I'll allow you to continue this game we are having but y/n get a little more creative next time, dear heart."
You hadn't heard that name in a long time. Albert would call you dear heart when the two of you dated. You almost cringed when he said that name again, you tried to back away from him but he didn't let you.
"Remember when I would call you that? Or you begged for me to call you that."
You didn't want him to say another word, the Albert you fell in love with died back in July 1998 now that's left is a sick power hungry man who only wants to change the world to match his expectations. Albert noticed how this was seemingly getting under your skin now, reopening old wounds. A part of him wanted to stop but he ended up counting to 'tease' you.
"Remember on that day, when we went to the Spencer mansion? It was the day before our anniversary, you seemed so excited to give me your gift but th-."
Before Albert could finish his sentence you had shouted at him to shut up. Seeing how you reacted he felt bad. This was out of character for him, he was soon snapped out of his thoughts when you had pushed him away. You had ended up falling backwards.
"Why am I here? What do you want from me?" You asked, your voice slowly rising.
Albert walked next to you and squatted down next to you. "Y/n, you are here for many reasons. But one of the reasons is because I want you by my side once again. I want you to be mine again, after all these years I thought my feelings for you would've died off but my dear Y/n they haven't. It only got stronger after all these years. '' Albert's tone was now more gentle. He was regretting the things he did, he made sure you didn't catch on.
"But-."
Albert had shushed you before you could even say your sentence. "Allow me to finish. Why don't you join me, if you do we can be together once again or you don't. Nothing is stopping you from refusing my offer." Albert had ended up pulling you closer to him.
You thought about it for a moment but joining him would increase your chances of escaping and getting out of here. A part of you couldn't completely understand what he was saying to you, just a moment ago he was trying to play with your emotions so why did he suddenly have a change of heart. It was a high possibility he was lying but you wanted to believe him because similar to him you still had feelings but at this point they were so 'dead'. You made your decision, you were going to join him.
"Fine, I'll join you."
Albert's face lit up and it was noticeable too. Albert said anything else he picked you up, grabbed your cane and started to walk to your room. On the way over there he began to speak.
"From now on I'll be coming into your room to come see you more often my dear."
That's all he said you nodded your head in response to him. Once the two of you reached your room Albert placed you down on your bed but before he left he asked for the key back, you gave it back to him. When Albert left the room he locked it behind him, after waiting a couple of minutes you couldn't help but slightly cry in what you assume is frustration. You wished you never jumped out of that window but if you didn't Chris would've been killed and who knows what would've happened to Jill.
'I'll make sure I get out of here, no matter the cost I will.'
Pairings: Reggie x Luke x Reader, Willex
Word Count: 2.4K
Warnings: swearing
a/n: ahhh here’s part 2 of The Mercer Legacy!! I have been super busy and also told myself I wouldn’t write more of this until Sunset Swerve was finished (which it’s technically not bc it’s still missing an epilogue but shhhh) but I’m really excited to share this with y’all!! As always, please let me know what you think and comment/send me an ask if you’d like to be added to my taglist!! Oh, let’s all pretend that Luke and Reggie are in their concert blacks backstage at the event from Part 1 in the second edit, thanks :)
Part 1 Masterlist TML Masterlist
___
You met at the place where your front lawns touched, both of you storming out of your houses at the same time to confront each other.
“I can’t believe you lied to me!”
“I can’t believe you tricked me!”
You both paused, having yelled at each other at the same time and needing a moment to comprehend what the other had said.
“Really?” You spoke first, quirking a brow and pursing your lips as you stared down your best friend. “You’re going to whine about a harmless prank when you’ve been living a freaking Hannah Montana double life?!”
“A Hannah Montana double life?” Alex repeated as if he couldn’t believe those were words that had just come out of your mouth.
“Yeah, asshole. You’ve got secret cute friends, you’re in a secret band-“
“Actually can we talk about this inside?” He cut you off, looking around frantically as if he just remembered that you were outside and anyone could hear you.
You glared at him for interrupting but turned to lead the way back towards your house.
“Now I understand how Lily felt,” you grumbled and you could practically hear Alex roll his eyes.
“You’re ridiculous.”
“Oh, fuck off!”
___
“So what I still don’t understand is why you didn’t just tell me all of this to begin with,” you finally spoke after Alex explained to you everything about meeting the guys and forming the band. You were sat across from each other on your bed, normally you’d sit side-by-side against the pillows or cuddle but this was serious. “Do you not trust me?”
Alex snapped his head up at that, looking you straight in the eyes as he spoke.
“No! Y/N, of course, that’s not it! You know you’re my best friend, I’d trust you with my life!” He rushed to reassure you.
“Then why not this?”
Alex sighed.
“I don’t know, it just...it all happened really fast and telling you slipped my mind and then it seemed too late to tell you and I just- I didn’t want you to be mad at me,” he rambled and you shook your head fondly.
“You’re an idiot, you know that right?”
“That’s why I need you, you have all the brains,” he was quick to respond, breaking out the innocent look he usually reserved for parents.
“Kiss ass,” you grumbled but gesture for him to join you against the pillows anyway.
“I’m glad you know now,” Alex said quietly as he settled next to you, slinging an arm around your shoulder and pulling you into him. “Don’t replace me with Luke and Reggie though.”
You laughed at that, quickly reassuring him that you could never before pulling out your phone.
“What’re you doing?” Alex asked curiously, trying to get a look at the screen.
“I’m changing your contact name to Hannah Montana,” you answered simply as you tapped away on your phone, doing just that.
“Oh my gosh, seriously? You’re never gonna let that go are you?” He groaned.
“Listen, I really don’t think you’re appreciating how clever that was. I’m a genius.”
“Of course, my genius best friend,” Alex teased, hugging you closer to him briefly.
You nuzzled your head into his shoulder, grateful for the show of affection. You knew Alex wasn’t a very physical person so the fact that he was comfortable enough with you to express his affection in this manner was huge. You always joked that he was the brother you’d never asked for and it was like he caught the cuddle bug when the two of you hung out. You’d spent many an afternoon or sleepover cuddled up just like this.
“Oh! I should probably text the guys and let them know you’re alive,” you spoke after a moment, reaching for your phone once more.
“The guys,” Alex repeated in disbelief at the casual reference to Luke and Reggie before the rest of your statement registered in his mind. “Wait, let them know what?!”
“Shhhh, it’s fine,” you waved him off as you sent a text in your group chat. “I just might’ve threatened your life for lying to me.”
“You threat- y’know what, I shouldn’t even be surprised anymore,” he sighed exasperatedly.
“You really shouldn’t,” you laughed. “Luke says you’re late for band practice.”
“Oh shit!” Alex exclaimed, sitting up suddenly, the movement forcing you to sit up as well. “I gotta go- wait, do you wanna come with? I’m sure the rest of the group won’t mind.”
“Do I want to come... y’know I was joking about me having all the brains in this friendship but now I’m starting to think it’s true,” you huffed as you followed your best friend out of the room.
___
“Hey guys, sorry I’m late!” Alex apologized as he rushed into the garage where the band apparently practiced.
Upon entry, you found the garage had been converted to a well-lit and nicely decorated studio, equipped with everything you assumed a band of high schoolers could need. As you followed Alex in he gestured over to a couple of armchairs and a couch clustered across from the band setup for you to sit in before he quickly made his way behind the drum set.
“No problem man, we know you were making up with- y/n!” Luke exclaimed, catching sight of you seated in one of the chairs in front of him.
“What’re you doing here?” Reggie blurted out, having spun around to face you when Luke had said your name and you felt your cheeks heat up in embarrassment.
“Um, Alex said I could come watch you practice?” You tried to explain but it came out as more of a question in your flustered state. “He didn’t think you guys would mind but if you do I can just head back home...”
You moved to stand up from your chair but the boys were quick to stop you.
“No!” They shouted simultaneously. Thank goodness for guitar straps because each boy nearly dropped their instrument in their haste to keep you from leaving.
“You just... caught us off guard. That’s all,” Luke explained, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly.
“You’ve got to be kidding me,” you heard Alex groan from the back, drawing your attention.
“What’s up?” You called back to him, settling back into your seat and sending Luke and Reggie a grateful smile before giving your best friend your undivided attention.
“Huh? Oh! I, uh, one of my sticks looks like it’s starting to crack,” he excused, sounding like he hadn’t meant to be heard. You narrowed your eyes suspiciously at him, knowing he was leaving something out but you wouldn’t push it. At least not in front of Luke and Reggie. “Anyways, where’s Jules?”
“She just ran inside to grab some water,” Reggie answered, and if on cue the studio doors opened and a smaller girl carrying an armful of water bottles who you assumed must be Julie stepped in.
“Y’know, one of you guys could’ve offered to help,” she huffed, walking over to each of the three boys to hand them a bottle.
Like Luke and Reggie, it took her a moment to notice your presence as she jumped slightly when she turned around and spotted you. You smiled sheepishly, feeling that embarrassed heat rise into your face once again.
“You must be Y/N!” She exclaimed, grinning at you. “I’m Julie. Do you want a water?”
You graciously accepted the offer from the curly-haired girl, thankful that she didn’t seem to mind that you were there. After making sure you felt welcome Julie was all business, getting the band started on their rehearsal. The same could not be said for the guys.
Luke was the first to start goofing off while Reggie had been pointedly averting his gaze whenever you looked at him. It was a complete tone shift from the confident boy who had winked at you at the debutante ball but Luke’s showing off seemed to empower him. The brunet, on the other hand, hadn’t wasted any time doing silly rockstar moves and adding in guitar riffs that you could tell weren’t typically apart of the songs by Alex and Julie’s fond but exasperated expressions. Not long after, Reggie joined in on the shenanigans, the two boys competing for your attention.
For his part, Alex did seem to be doing his best to maintain his professionalism but, well, once Luke and Reggie started acting out you weren’t surprised that he followed. You thought it was cute, your best friend was jealous. Whether it was because he thought you were stealing his friends or they were stealing you was yet to be seen, but you thought it was endearing despite knowing that he had nothing to worry about.
Well, maybe he had to worry about you stealing Luke and Reggie. Despite not knowing them for very long the two boys had quickly grown on you and you were grateful for opportunities like sitting in on band practice to get to spend more time with them, even if you weren’t talking or interacting with them directly. You got the feeling that music was a language of their own, especially for Luke. Even as he did everything in his power to gain and keep your attention you could tell that each song was important to him.
You were surprised and bummed when they finished rehearsing, your personal mini-concert over. However, you hadn’t realized practice being over didn’t mean you had to go home. Apparently, the guys often stayed late in Julie’s garage just hanging out.
“So, what exactly do your parents think you’re doing when you’re here?” You asked Alex much later, having just noticed the sun had long since set and wondering how the boy had escaped his parents’ curiosity and strictness for so long.
You had migrated to the couch at some point in the evening, your legs draped across Luke’s lap as you stretched out on the sofa. Reggie and Alex occupied the two closest armchairs.
“Usually I just say I’m at your house,” Alex shrugged and you sat up abruptly, staring at him as if he were insane (which, by the way, he was).
“And you never thought to tell me that I was your alibi?” You questioned in disbelief. “What if they had checked in?!”
“They wouldn’t have checked in.”
“They’re helicopter parents!”
“But they trust me,” Alex smirked and you huffed.
“Right. How could I forget you’re the Golden Boy. Every parent to ever exists trusts you immediately by default,” you groaned, flopping back onto the couch dramatically.
The guys all laughed at that and you smirked victoriously to yourself, proud that you were able to do that. The boys led the conversation after that with you jumping in occasionally, just content to be there. You weren’t sure how much time had passed before your eyelids grew heavy and you decided to close them, believing you could still listen and participate in the conversation with your eyes shut.
The boys didn’t realize you were asleep until Luke felt you shiver, your legs still laying across his lap. He looked over to find you with your eyes closed, a peaceful expression on your face, and goosebumps all over your arms. You were freezing.
Realizing that there were no blankets nearby, Luke began to slowly shrug off his flannel so as to not disturb you. The same flannel that Alex had made fun of him for wearing because “It’s June in LA and it’s a million degrees out.” Well, suck it, Alex, because now he was able to drape it across your torso.
A warm, fluttering feeling erupted in his chest when you unconsciously grasped onto the fabric, snuggling further into the material.
At this point, Alex and Reggie had caught on to the fact that you had fallen asleep and while the boys did resume their conversation, there was a noticeable shift in volume. Luke flinched the next time he felt you move, thinking their talking had woke you up. However, he looked to see that your eyes were still closed, no signs of consciousness to be found in your features and he let out a small sigh of relief.
“Hey, Reg can you go grab a blanket from the loft?” Luke asked, looking away from you to give his friend his signature puppy dog eyes.
It turned out he didn’t need to though as Reggie had already jumped up from his seat and started making his way quickly and quietly to the ladder. He made it up and down from the loft with no troubles but it didn’t last. Barely two steps away from the ladder Reggie tripped, falling into Alex’s drum set. Luke and Alex watched with wide eyes as at the last minute the boy attempted to launch himself in the opposite direction, not wanting to damage the drums and he nearly managed to save it, until he knocked the high-hat over with his foot.
The cymbals hit the ground with a loud crash and you startled awake, eyes flying open and heart racing at the sound.
“What the fuck was that?” You gasped, sitting up as you tried to make sense of your surroundings. “Was I asleep?”
“That was Reggie knocking over the cymbals and yeah, you were knocked out,” Luke chuckled, smiling lightly at you. Alex had already jumped up, rushing to the back to make sure his high-hat and friend were okay.
“Oh my gosh! Are you okay Reg?” You asked, your head snapping to the band set-up just in time to see the boy in question stand up, brushing off his pants before carefully making his way back to you.
“Yeah, I’m all good,” he replied cheerily before handing you the waded-up ball of fabric. “I was grabbing you a blanket, you were shivering in your sleep.” He explained softly and your heart warmed at the gesture.
“Aww babes, that’s so sweet,” you cooed accepting the blanket from the blushing boy even though you were no longer sleeping. As you set down the blanket you noticed Luke’s flannel already laying in your lap and you felt heat rise to your cheeks at the realization that he must have placed it over you in your sleep.
“Babes?” Alex repeated as he walked back, looking at you funny and you sent a puzzled look back.
“What? I used to call you babe all the time before you got permanently relegated to ‘asshole.’” Alex rolled his eyes at that while Luke and Reggie chuckled.
“Okay, it’s time to go,” Alex huffed, pulling you off the couch and you pouted.
“Well, bye I guess!” You whined, waving at the boys while Alex tried to forcibly remove you from the garage as quickly as possible. “Asshole.” You cursed him quietly under your breath.
5 star conversation (reggie peters x reader)
I SAW THIS REQUEST AND SCREAMED I WAS SO EXCITED!!
word count: 4.9k (i can’t believe i wrote that much omg)
5 star conversation masterlist
place one: a 1 star motel
“I can’t believe this!”
Julie and I gave each other warnings look as he leaned against each other. That was Flynn’s “Something is going wrong and it’s the other person's fault” yell, and with how stressful the bus ride was I could tell this was worse.
“What’s wrong?” Reggie leaned over in his chair, his hood covering his face as we hid from camera flashes in the corner of the fancy hotel.
Julie shrugged, looking back to her phone and the Instagram edits of the band she had been tagged in.
“Guys, guys,” Alex did a awkward jog as he came back from the bathroom, the iconic pink hoodie pulled over his head and the front of his baseball hat sticking out.
“What?”
“I don’t think we have rooms,” Alex fell back beside Luke, his anxiety radiating from one person to another.
“Huh?”
We’ve had the tour planned out for months, each state planned and perfectly laid out for the perfect amount of work and play. There wasn’t a chance that we didn’t have the room for tonight, impossible.
“Flynn is too smart for that,” I leaned back, ignoring the way Reggie still leaned forward while his elbows on his knees watching me. It was weird, I knew it was Reggie but the way he sat and the fact I couldn’t see his face made it feel like a different person.
“(Y/N) right, Flynn way to put together for that,” Julie brushed off, hitting my shoulder to show me the edit she had found. It was of Reggie and I from a few shows ago, Flynn had been taking videos to help keep the fan active on us and she caught a video of Reggie and I fake rocking out on the empty stage.
It moved from that to a picture of Reggie and me in the costume store for the Halloween show, little fairy-like hearts floating around us. I smiled at the thought, grabbing Julie’s phone and sending the edit to me.
“Well, we don’t have rooms,” Flynn walked back, not giving any warning as she collapsed on top of Julie and I.
“I told you!”
Alex stood up, pointing his finger between Julie and I, a little smirk forming before he realized the weight of the words.
“What happened?”
“They didn’t tell me that rooms held for over 2 months have to be reinstated two week before or they cancel it,” Flynn didn’t move, laying over Julie and I with a broken spirit.
“I was looking forward to sleeping in a room, those bed’s on the bus suck,” Luke crossed his arms and pouted, looking like a kicked puppy.
“I don’t mind them,” Reggie smiled, bouncing in his seat slightly.
“It’s because you’d never fallen off the top,” Alex bit back, still mad about the sharp turns that have sent him flying the last few nights.
Flynn finally moved off Julie and I, saying nothing as she typed away on her phone. She walked away without another word, looking us back in the corner with hoods up.
I played with the sleeves of my own hoodie that had the new Julie and the Pathoms merch sketch.
“Oh look at this one!”
Julie showed me her phone again, this time a thirst trap edit. Her excitement bought the boys attention to us, all moving to look over my shoulder at the edit.
It started with a few of Julie with her amazing stage gear and a few photos from her instagram, neon letters over her head read “The Singer''. Then jumped to the few videos and pictures of Flynn that Julie and I would post behind her back, this time the neon letters read “The Manager''. Next was my face, bright smiles and a few of me backstage with an old Sunset Curve tee and sweat rolling down my back, the words said “The Designer ''.
I read the caption, smiling at “They carry the band” and laughing as the guys talked about the story behind each photo.
“I took the one of you in my old shirt,” Reggie smiled, staying beside me with his arm around the back of my seat. I did my best to ignore the butterflies, which became easy when Flynn came back with a smile.
“I found a motel across the street that will take us,” she spoke with pride, rightfully so as she saved us from another night on that bus.
“Oh I love you,” Alex jumped up, his arms wrapping around Flynn in a heartbeat. Julie smiled, standing up and putting the phone in the pocket of her hoodie.
“Come on, up,” Reggie jumped up, holding a hand up from me as I had started to slip down in my seat. I smiled, taking his cold hands and standing completely up with a smile.
“Thank you Reginald,” I winked, following the others as we made our way to the front of the hotel. I could already hear the crowd waiting for us, their cameras probably at the ready to take some pictures of the uprising band.
“Hoods up soldiers,” Luke announced, keeping Julie close as they were already openly in a relationship so nothing too bad could be made out of them. Alex stood in front of me, Flynn close behind as Reggie was an inch behind me.
I said nothing when I felt a small hand on my back, too caught up in the loud voices and the calling of our names.
“(Y/N)! Is it true you are jealous of the band!”
“(Y/N), Did you sleep with lead singer Luke even with him dating Julie?”
“Are the rumors of Reggie and you true?”
I was thankful we had made it cross the sidewalk when a large bus cut them all off, giving up enough time to make it to the motel without a problem. I was thankful once we made it inside but not for long as I took the place in.
The plants in the corner were dead, the desk was dusty and the couches looked to be from the 1800′s, not the good kind.
“How many stars does this place have?”
“Uhm, 4?” Flynn voiced jumped up, saying nothing to us as she walked up and dinged the bell on the front desk. I rolled my eyes, pulling out my phone and opening it to Google.
“What are you goggling?”
“Google, and this motel,” I corrected Reggie, doing a quick search of my location and found the name of the rusty place. When I saw the rating I almost screamed.
“This place just barely has one star!”
“What,” Luke ran from the random statue he was messing with to my side, tugging the phone so he could read the reviews.
“Apparently they had a rat in a bed once,” I spoke, reading over the words in horror.
“Nope, I’ll stay on the bus,” Alex let his hands fall to his side, walking back to the door before he noticed that the camera flashes had almost doubled and no way he could make it out without a panic attack.
“Evening.”
When I heard the vile voice I jumped into Reggie's side without thinking, looking up at the older man who was looking Flynn up and down like meat.
“I need six room,” Flynn didn’t waste time, holding the credit card in between her fingers as she did her best not to be a coward.
“He looks like the witch from Hansel and Gretel,” I whispered into Reggie’s ear, ignoring the way his arm seemed to drift to my waist.
“I don’t know how that is but I agree.”
“We only have only three rooms, little lady,” the man spoke, reaching for the credit card before Flynn moved it out of reach.
“You told me on the found you had six,” Flynn bit back, I admired her confidence in this moment as everyone was slowly losing there the longer we stood in this lobby.
“The paparazzi will have fun with this,” Julie reached my side, looking over her shoulder and the few shots they could get through the windows of the dusty place.
“Got that right.”
“Fine, will bunk up,” Flynn gave up with the man, it wasn’t any use and we were all tired of setting up the stage and soundcheck today. I had spent hours hunched over the computer trying to get the mercy drop reaching tomorrow morning, my back sore and my head hurting.
The man passed Flynn the keys, after she watched him closely to make sure he didn’t charge us extra. She walked over to us, obviously annoyed but calming down the closer she got to us, she knew how to manage her anger until it was only Julie and I around.
“Julie and I will take one room, Alex and (Y/N) will take another-'' I smiled as Alex was my go-to room partner.
“-And Luke and Reggie got the last,” Flynn started handing out keys when Luke started to pout.
“Last time I slept in the same room as Reggie he talked the entire night,” Luke pointed at Reggie, causing the boy beside me to frown.
“You sleep talk? I’ve never heard it,” I shrugged and looked at Luke who was confident that “Reggie sleep talks”.
“Why can’t I take Alex and (Y/N) take Reggie?”
This felt so out of character for Luke, he never missed an opportunity to hang out with Reggie, they always bunked together. It was weird how everyone agreed, which felt even more out of character.
“Okay it’s settled,” I wanted to say something, as a night in a room alone with Reggie would be horrible for my crush, but I didn’t want Reggie to think nobody wanted to bunk with him.
Reggie shrugged, taking our key from Flynn and grabbing my go-bag I’d set on the ground of the dirty motel.
“I’ll get our bags, I know you’ll sit with Fylnn and Julie before you come up,” he didn’t sound mad or upset, he was smiling widely as he skipped to the elevator before stopping halfway through and going to the stairs instead.
“What a gentleman,” Luke winked at me, smirking between the group as if he had done something.
That’s when it hit me, he had done something.
“Oh, you liar,” I pointed my finger at Luke’s chest, my pout similar to his earlier as I looked up to someone I called a close friend, basically family.
“I did nothing of the sort, he did talk all night last time we bunked together but it was because we decided we wanted to pull an all-nighter,” Luke shrugged, looking at the other three in the loony, all smiling at me.
“You’re all vile people,” I spoke, looking to Alex who wanted to laugh so bad by the look on his face.
“And you, why would you do this to me?”
“Because I’m so tired of Reggie and you dancing around each other,” Alex gave me a stern look, making me deflate slightly but that didn’t stop me.
“We do not,” the group finally started to move again, since Reggie would already be in the room and we didn’t want him suspicious.
“Oh no, you’re the liar now,” Luke sang over my shoulder, grabbing his and Julie’s bag, Alex getting him and reaching for Flynn bag who insisted she had it.
“His hands were all over you this morning on the bus,” Julie jumped in, grabbing my shoulders and leading me through the stairway.
“He was teaching me how to play bass,” I crossed my arm, knowing this conversation wasn’t going anywhere.
“Reggie never lets anyone touch his bass!”
I rolled my eyes, they were all insane at this point.
“The reason there are so many ship edits of you guys is that you give them so much to work with,” Flynn said from the front of the group, a kick in her step about the entire idea.
“It’s because fans are crazy,” we had finally made it to the third floor, opening the door and all walking into the smelly hallways.
“It smells like a pack of cigarettes,” I almost coughed as I spoke, watching Reggie’s back open the door and slide into our room.
“You coming to sit with us?”
“No, I’m mad at you all,” I frown, but none of my friends worried as I’d forgive in the morning because they were impossible to stay mad at.
“Suit yourself, also he didn’t have any two bedrooms so have fun sharing a bed,” Flynn gave me a sweet kiss on the cheek and skipped to her and Julie’s room.
“I’ll kill you,” I yelled at Flynn as she walked into her room, Julie giving a sweet waver over her shoulder.
“I wonder if they have a mini-fridge,” Luke spoke, opening the door as the two boys gave me an exciting wave as if they weren’t making my life harder.
“(Y/N)? Why are you yelling?”
I looked down a door or two to see Reggie leaning against the doorframe of our room with a white tee and black and red plaid pajama pants.
He was going to be the death of me.
“Uhm, Fylnn told me they didn’t have a breakfast bar,” I did my best to lie, smiling as I made my way to the door Reggie leaned against, his little smile made me feel light and fluffy.
“I’ll get us one of the Ubers to take us to that little diner on the corner,” Reggie smiled, not moving from the doorframe once I reached it.
I didn’t want to slide past him but I did, doing my best not to come in contact with him as that may just make it worse but luckily he moved back so that didn’t happen.
“Thank god, I like the layout of it.”
I saw the single Queen bed in the center of my room and my heart broke as I thought about Fylnn’s words, she wasn’t just trying to get under my skin.
“Yeah, I know you love dinners that look like they are from the 50s.”
My heart shouldn’t have been on fire because of his words but it 100% was. He remembered those little quirks and it started to make me feel light-headed.
“Yeah they’re my favorite,” I smiled over my shoulder, reaching for my bag I had packed for the night in the motel, luckily bought my sleep stuff and asleep attire.
“There was one by my house back in the 90s, it was right out of that movie you had me watched,” Reggie fell back on the left side, leaving the right side open for me.
He knew what freaking side of the bed I slept on, I was going to combust.
“Grease,” I ignored the way his arms bulged as he laid them behind his hand, looking up at me as I looked through my bag for a few more things.
“Yeah that one, I think I should do my hair like David-“
“Danny,” I corrected as I made my way to the bathroom, leaving the door cracked so I could keep the conversation but still closed enough so I wasn’t worried about Reggie seeing me.
“Oh yeah, I should do my hair like him.” I smiled to myself, imagining Reggie dancing around as a Danny from Grease, the excitement he would have.
I tried not to think about how hot he’d look with his hair slick back.
“Do it for Halloween next year,” I spoke up, splashing water on my face to make me feel a little calmer.
“But I thought we would do a matching costume?”
I was going to scream and cry if he didn’t stop acting like the perfect boy. How do you lie because Reggie Freaking Peters and not fall in love with him?
“You could be Sandy!”
I felt myself smile again, looking down at the short and long shirt I had stolen from Alex that sat on top of the toilet.
“You can have red lipstick and those leather pants,” he sounded like a child that was just given candy, he was jumping just at the thought of the costume together.
“The fans would love it,” maybe it wasn’t the best idea to bring them up, but I couldn’t stop myself from saying it.
“They would! They’d probably talk about how cool you look for months,” I finally got the shirt over my head, looking at myself in the mirror, my nerves calming the longer the conversation went on.
Reggie wouldn’t make this awkward on purpose, I knew that.
“Yeah, but they’d like us matching. They wouldn’t let the dating rumor die though”, I stepped out from the bathroom, careful not to hit the creaking floorboard I found earlier.
“Oh, I didn’t think about that,” I watched his face fall and maybe my heart broke a little, but it was probably better. If it didn’t I would have possibly let this crush grow more and more and I didn’t need that.
“Eh, I don’t really care what the fans think.”
Heart please don’t explode, you have a merch drop tomorrow.
“Must be nice,” I fell back on the bed, laying the same way as Reggie as we looked at the ceiling that could probably fall in any second now.
“Why do you care?”
I watched him flip on his stomach out of the corner of my eye, him watching me but my eyes didn’t leave the ceiling.
“They just like making rumors with people that aren’t in the band sometimes more than the ones in the band. You four are more open than Flynn and I so they can only make so many rumors, but Flynn and I,” I trailed off, not knowing if he wanted this conversation to get too emotional.
“Yeah I noticed that, I mean you're cheating with Luke!”
I laughed at this tone, that definitely was a real crazy one that just started.
“I literally hit him in the head with the mic stand yesterday and kept walking and people think we’re dating”, I laugh at the afterthought, Luke's face when the mic stand went by his face. He was fine, but I didn’t have time to help him up and he understood that.
“That was great to watch, I haven’t seen Luke that confused since we landed here,” I spotted his show stopping smile in the corner of my eye.
“He’s a mess that’s why.”
“All three of us are a mess, without you, Julie, and Flynn we would be dead.”
“You’re already dead,” I tried to keep a straight face but as soon as I looked at Reggie my giggles filled the room, a hand on my stomach as I rolled over slightly.
“You’re horrible! You’re laughing at my death!”
I kept laughing, looking over at him a few times but it only caused me to laugh harder.
“I can’t believe I was excited to have a sleepover with you,” he had a goofy smile on his face as he watched me roll around.
“You 're excited,” I was finally calming down, trying to blame my racing heart on laughing.
“Yeah!”
He was so confident in his answer it felt like he meant it, like he wasn’t just being nice or just happy to be close with his friend.
Reggie liked being with people, he was a people person, and I was a person.
“I was excited too.”
Wow (Y/N) don’t you love your loud mouth.
He looked around my face, his eyes tracing my features with a smile painted across his face. I was shocked someone could be so happy like looked at me, but he did and it felt nice.
It was creepy or uncomfortable, nothing with Reggie ever was. He made everything feel easy, and maybe that’s why he has plagued my thoughts for so long.
“We should head to bed,” I could speak above a whisper with the way he was looking at me, the way his eyes traced my nose and my eyes.
“Yeah.”
We didn’t move, just watching each other as if it was supposed to be sleep for us. I wasn’t tired watching him like this, how could I be tired when he made me feel more alive than ever.
The loud knock on the door brought me out of my trace, my fear of what could be at the door had me moving closer to Reggie without thinking.
I felt the side of the move, Reggie slowly walking to the moldy wooden door with the small peep hole, or more like someone put a nail though and took it out.
He looked through it, reading to each for the candlestick before he rolled his eyes and swung open the door. Alex stood with an awkward smile, doing an odd dance before smiling at Reggie and I.
“Alex?”
“Can I use your bathroom?” I finally realized why he was dancing and smiled to himself.
“Sure but why?”
As soon as he heard my yes he pushed past Reggie, running into the thin wall bathroom without an answer until I heard him yell “Yes!”
“Our bathroom had some weird bug in the toilet and Julie and Flynn’s bathroom was connected to some weird old dude who fell asleep on the toilet,” Alex responded through the door, the excitement obviously in his voice.
“Looks like I got the good room,” Reggie smiled but I was hoping Alex would catch on to my comment and by the way he laughed I think he did.
“Shut up (Y/N)!”
Reggie knocked on the door jokingly as he passed, making his way back to the other side of the bed.
“How did Julie and Flynn get a conjoining room?”
“I don’t know and I don’t want to,” Alex yelled back, the sound of running water confirmed he was now washing his hands.
“You don’t have paper towels,” Alex opens the door, holding his hands in front of him as he looks like a kicked puppy.
“Use your shirt,” Reggie nodded at him, both him and I on our side as we watched Alex.
“It’s not mine! It’s Willie’s.”
“We won’t tell if you don’t,” I smiled back, giving Alex a wink.
“I accidentally told him,” Alex muttered as he started walking to the door, waving back at us and he left to go back to his own room.
As soon as the door shut I let myself laugh a little at my close friend, slowly reaching for the lamp and lifting the covers up. I could feel Reggie doing the same as the cold air hitting my skin when it moved and disappearing once it fell.
“Must I say, this motel isn’t that bad.”
I turned to look back at Reggie, the only reason I could see his face was because of the city lights from the window that danced across his face.
“What?”
“Don’t get me wrong, this place breaks every violation ever, but I think places like this bring out the best stories,” Reggie moved to look at me, his nose close to my own and he smiled at me.
I smiled, it was truly the Reggie-ish thing I had ever heard.
“I believe that,” I spoke softly, watching him again but this time the tension was thick, it felt so much calmer.
“Julie and Flynn will never forget the creepy guy, Alex and Luke will laugh about Alex blatter, and I’ll never forget the best sleepover ever,” each word brought a little larger smile on his face, my heart racing again at his words.
“I mean that much to you?” I said the words jokingly, placing a hand over my heart as I spoke but Reggie took it differently.
“Most definitely,” his words are soft, making my eyes grow tired as his breath fan across my face.
He was watching me again, this time he looked like an angel with the way the city light bounced off his cheeks and bought out his pink lips.
“Yeah?”
“Yep,” his face looked like it was moving closer to me but I knew better than to think that, but that didn’t crush that little hope in the back of my head.
“If you were there in the 90s, I’d probably still be alive,” eye contact was made and I thought I would jump him there.
“I wasn’t alive then.”
“I know, but you’re alive now and I feel alive,” Reggie shrugged as if his words didn’t mean everything to me.
Like he didn’t mean everything to me. I felt myself break eye contact, smiling like a fool as I looked to the tv that was barely hanging on the wall.
“You’re cold,” I spoke softly, because what else was I supposed to say?
“You’re warm,” as he spoke he grew closer to me, resting his head near my collarbone as he waited for me to speak but it never came.
“Can I lay my head on your shoulder?”
“Most definitely,” I repeated his rooms from earlier, smiling when I felt his hair brush my cheek and he drew close to me.
“Goodnight (Y/N),” he spoke softly, his words causing shivers to run up and down my spine like a track race.
“Goodnight Reggie.”
A loud bang on the door woke me up, causing me to almost fall from the bed if the hand that grabbed my shirt wasn't a tiger. His arms weren’t around me, simply holding me closer by my shirt, his head still on my shoulder as my head laid on his.
“Flynn has coffee!” Julie’s voice was joyus, making a smile spread across my lips. My friends knew me so well, my hands gently pulling Reggie’s fist from my shirt. I carefully pulled myself from the bed, tip-toeing across the room to the door. I didn’t even need to look through the peephole to know who was on the other side.
“Did you get a cup for your neighbor?”
Flynn smiled, dropped, and the coffee she held out to me was brought closer to her chest.
“And to think I gave you a kiss yesterday,” I rolled my eyes, reaching out for the coffee that was easy to pull from her hands.
“Luke and Alex are stealing breakfast from the hotel we were supposed to be staying at,” Julie brushed past me, stopping in her tracks when she noticed Reggie's sleeping body, obviously splashing on both sides of the bed.
“How are they doing that?”
“I don't wanna know, but I do wanna know what happened here last night,” Julie spun around, pointing at Reggie over her shoulder.
“We talked and went to bed,” I shrugged, doing my best to keep my voice down but it wouldn’t change anything, Reggie was a heavy sleeper.
“I thought you would make a plate on the floor or something,” Flynn spoke as she joined us in the room, slowly walking to Reggie and inspecting him.
“That felt rude,” I sipped on the coffee, smiling when I realized Julie and Flynn got my order right.
“Or,” Julie turned around, poking my side with a goofy smile. I rolled my eyes, my excitement from last night and the presents of my friends was sending me through the roof and I don’t think I could handle it much longer.
“Guys!”
I looked down the hall, smiling when I saw Alex and Luke breathing heavily with large bags of hopeful food in their hands.
“Is that from the hotel?”
“Of course,” Luke smiled as he slipped into the room, handing me one of the bags so I could place it on the small table in the motel.
“We got chased out but we did it!”
I laughed at Alex's face, the anxiety was obvious but the smile told me he was fine and there wasn’t much to worry about.
“Well well well,” Luke walked around the bed, smiling at Reggie’s sleeping form.
“Don’t say a word,” I opened one of the bags and pulled a small piece of pancake off, and threw it in the air, catching it in my mouth easily. Perks of being friends with Luke, he teaches great party tricks.
“Aren’t you two the cutest,” Luke came over to my side, waving Julie over to show me something on her phone. I looked over my shoulder, watching a new edit that was posted maybe an hour ago.
“Reggie and (Y/N) were seen awfully close leaving their hotel last night,” the E! News reporter said, the edit jumping to a meme I had seen of a dude crying. Next thing I knew pictures from last night flash across the screen, Reggie’s hand on my lower back. The edit jumped to other pictures of us joking around followed.
I smiled, turning back to the bag and pulling another piece of pancake out.
“Awh look at that,” Flynn pitched my cheeks, smiling at my as I laughed it off. Butterflies were flying through my stomach but I didn my best to hide it.
“What?”
Everyone turned to Reggie once sleeping form, his eyes scanning the room before he fell back to the bed.
“Did anyone knock?”
“We did,” Julie smiled, flopping on the bed so her head laid on his legs.
“I wasn’t informed,” Reggie sat up, looking at me with a grumpy frown. I shrugged, taking another bite of pancake while smiling at him.
“What? You wanted me to wake you?”
“Most definitely,” Reggie smiled, the conversation from last night still floating around his brain.
I nodded, looking down at my hands and thought back to the late night we had with nothing but calming security.
He was right, crappy motels brought the best memories out in people.
Healed by the Music // Luke Patterson
Summary: After the fallout of reckless behaviour and forced to return back home the reader had rediscovered her love for music. Close with her family once more her band Graveyard Petals receives an offer that could turn around the band’s tarnished reputation. The only issue is not wanting to hurt those close by leaving.
Warnings: Swearing, talk of death, angst, and fluff
Words: 3.3k
A/N: The second and final part to a lovely little series I had grown to love, the first part is Drowning From the Past. I came up with the band name so if you want to use it send an ask and we talk about it. This is set after the first season and Ray can now see them after the whole Golden glow thing.
Part One - Drowning in the Past
Masterlist
In the months you retreated back to Los Feliz the band had grown exponentially bringing in more revenue with merch. The social media followers grew as well with the hope of a new photo posted of you and the band. The most recent teased new music coming.
Speaking of music, it seemed to pour out of your body into two notebooks unknown to both your sister and her band—the band of ghosts that become massive fans of Graveyard Petals when Julie played full-length debut album Dahlia. Luke had even collaborated on a song for your band; his name the first of writing credits.
Now, seven months after the shameful return the band had gotten the offer of a lifetime to open for 5 Seconds of Summer on a world tour. The issue came with talking with Julie, and the guys gave you had shown your father you had healed.
"Hey, what's been up with you lately?" Julie asked, seating herself in the swing right beside you. Her hair pulled away from her youthful face.
Whenever you looked at Julie, you saw Mom with the gorgeous hair and gleeful smile that brightened a room. Even on your mom's death bed, the room flared with that same smile in every picture in albums and on the walls. Sometimes you swore the piano in the studio bath in the warm light brought by the one person that taught you and Julie to play.
"I've been thinking." You simply spoke eyes focused on the park that had been a massive part of your life.
Every year Rose and Ray Molina had brought their three children to the very park the two had met years before. Rose would bring flowers to a specific bench, and every time you asked why she had the same answer.
Little Y/N was a precocious child inquisitive of the world around her held at an arms life by her parents. Skilled at singing and natural affinity for music it worried Rose, in her eldest child she recognized something. The intense passion and talent that a particular guitarist had once displayed on a stage that would have changed everything.
"It a place of absolute joy and acceptance. Four legends came together in front of that very bench."
Rose would never know about the place had Bobby not subconsciously led her there for the first time mere hours after the devastating loss. He had collapsed to his knees, pleading for his best friends, his brothers to return. In broken sobs, he had told Rose that this park, this bench was the first place Sunset Curve played. Band fresh and still unnamed they had gotten confident enough to set up near the bench to start building a following.
Now it was eight years after the first visit with Bobby who started going by Trevor a year after the loss. The fresh-faced boy that had flirted with Rose had changed, and at that time, Rose wasn't sure it was a good or bad thing.
"It was the guys Mom left the flowers for." Julie started following your eyesight to the bench that had a fresh bouquet. A single dahlia in the middle of the flowers for your mother.
"Yeah." You softly spoke, turning to focus on the girl that had healed through music. Seeing how grownup Julie had become hurt your heart. Julie wasn't a child anymore, and you wished she never went through what you did for months.
The two Molina girls sat in comfortable silence with minds thinking the most opposite things possible.
"5 Seconds of Summer is going on tour. We should try and score some tickets when they come to LA." Julie spoke, raising one leg to rest her arm on it. The high waisted light washed jeans with paintings on them.
Your heart clenched at her excitement for a band you both adored for years.
"I know. 5SOS gave Lucy an offer for Graveyard Petals to open for them worldwide. The others are down to join, but if I'm not ready, we won't." You avoided the brown eyes burning your cheek for a second.
Julie's warm hand clasped yours in hers to jog to your car you had bought with your first paycheque. Unable to figure out her state on the possible tour, you quietly drove back home with no sound other than breathing.
"Hey!" Luke beamed as his two favourite girls, came wandering into the studio with pensive expressions and stooped shoulders.
Alex picked up on their moods almost instantly, "Are you okay?"
Your mouth opened before the loud yell of Flynn cut off your opportunity to respond and a slap smack to the back of your head. The sharp cry of pain stumbled from your chapped lips and Flynn's frustration rolling off her form.
"Flynn!" You sharply called rubbing the stinging spot with a glare outmatched by Flynn's fire. The look unlike you had ever seen on the girl with a sharp sense of fashion and unapologetic personality.
"You got asked by 5 Seconds of Summer to tour the world as an opening act!" Flynn elaborated at your confused expression, "Jules texted me. You need to do this! The amount of questions of if GP will return is outrageous! In the last two days, the band's Instagram got five thousand new followers."
The ghostly trio stayed silent as Flynn reprimanded her best friend's older sister with crazy talent. Flynn was your self appointed biggest fan with buying the first album at the store to demanding to wear newly designed merch before the drop.
"I'm enjoying being at home. I'm on good terms with Julie and Carlos, Dad doesn't look like he's gonna drop dead in disappointment when he sees me." You shrugged focusing on the discoloured mark on the ground.
"It's okay to be scared." Alex supplied smiling as Flynn nodded her thanks as the tall drummer stepped in.
After escaping the Hollywood Ghost Club (HGC), a handful of people gained the ability to see them, including Flynn. It was rather refreshing for the girl to finally interact with the guys with Julie being the middle man.
"I'm not-"You cut yourself off at the disbelief on Julie's face with her arms crossed just as your mother had done, "I nearly lost myself in the bottom of a bottle. I fucked up my relationships and tarnished both mine and the band's reputation."
Luke's warm hand came down on your shoulder in the act of support, the touch a new factor to the ghost. Your hand came to rest on his with a smile of gratitude cast to the dead boy.
"You have healthy coping mechanisms to fall back on. You'll have us to visit with the poofing ability. If you stumble, we will be here for you." Reggie informed you with his toothy grin and kind eyes.
The last piece of the puzzle clicked into place, feeling the wound close up, leaving a scar that had blistered and reopened since last year. The cheers enveloped you like their arms as you texted Lucy and the band your decision.
Dublin, Ireland 2021
"Hello, Dublin!" Your voice amplified in the large stadium of fans cheering for your band—the thud of Iris on her drum kit.
James idly stroking the strings on his dark green teal guitar your band had pitched in as a gift to him. On the opposite side of the stage was Sawyer with their custom-made gorgeous marble green and white colour.
"I hope you are enjoying yourself so far! It is our last song before the real act comes out!" You exclaimed to the boisterous crowd.
Just barely in the wing of the stage waited the band that had quickly become older brothers to you. A band that had given you a chance after the madness of your downward spiral.
"This song came out in 2018 and quickly became one of my favourites. It wouldn't be right to sing it without some friends." You continued as the guys walked onto the stage, "Without further adieu, this is Lie to Me by 5 Seconds of Summer!"
Luke Hemmings along with Calum, Ashton, and Michael ran to join your band as Iris started a sick beat. Calum and Michael already joining Sawyer and James in absolute perfect sync leaving Ashton to rock out by Iris. Hemmings, to not confuse him with Luke Patterson, came to stand next to you with a guitar.
[Verse 1: Hemmings]
I saw you looking brand new overnight
And I caught you looking too, but you didn't look twice
You look happy, oh, mmm
You look happy, oh
Hemmings angled his body to face you but not cut off the fans behind him, creating the vivid story you had done each rehearsal. The blue clashing your own eye colour holding your personalized sparkly emerald green mic.
[Pre Chorus: Hemmings & Calum]
Flashing back to New York City
Change your flight so you stay with me
Remember thinking that I got this right
Only adding backing vocals as Hemmings retreated to jam out with Calum leaving you to jump around the stage. Landing next to Sawyer they beamed with the loud stadium heard even through the in-ear monitors.
[Chorus: Hemmings & Calum]
And now I wish we never met
'Cause you're too hard to forget
While I'm cleaning up your mess
I know he's taking off your dress
And I know that you don't, but if I ask you if you love me
I hope you lie, lie, lie, lie, lie to me
Raising the mic to your lips, you came into your cue returning to the middle of the stage with Hemmings.
"Give it up for Y/N!" Ashton yelled into Iris' personal microphone.
[Verse 2: You]
It's 3 AM and the moonlight's testing me (Ah)
I know that you've been holding on to someone else
And now I can't sleep (Ah)
I ain't happy, oh
I ain't too happy, oh
[Pre Chorus: You]
Flashing back to New York City
I was done, but you undid me
Classic me to run when it feels right
The stage was charged with the chemistry the two lead singers of their respective bands all sharing grins. The cheers growing as Hemmings came closer to share the green microphone, the tech guys skillfully turning Hemmings off; no feedback sounding.
[Chorus: Hemmings & You]
Now I wish we never met
'Cause you're too hard to forget
While he's taking off my dress
I know she's laying on your chest
I know that you don't, but if I ask you if you love me
I hope you lie, lie, lie, lie, lie to me
Singing, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie
Li-li-lie, lie, lie, lie, lie
Lie, lie, lie, lie, lie
Li-li-lie, lie, lie, lie, lie (Yeah yeah)
I know that you don't, but if I ask you if you love me
I hope you lie, lie, lie, lie, lie to me
The Australian singer stepped closer to hug you quickly before finding his way to your bandmates too. The crowd all having their phones out in which the hugs would be made into edits, and the shipping would intensify.
"Dublin! You have been incredible to play for. Enjoy the rest of the concert and rock out because I will be doing so backstage." Your voice echoed over the fans with a beaming grin feeling comfortable on stage again.
"This is Easier!" Hemmings shouted as the rest of his band commenced their part of the concert just as they had the last few months.
Watching the guys perform with your own band with you was incredibly bittersweet after touring worldwide for months. The media had eaten up the sudden reappearance of the band with positive publicity increasing the popularity.
"I love this song," Sawyer spoke with a twinkle in their eyes tapping their foot to the beat. James was just barely moving his head to beat while Iris was jumping around uncaring of the people around.
"You love it because we got to collaborate on the song!" James exclaimed, tapping his hip on her thigh. Iris' 5'11 form towered over James' 5'7 height but that never caused issues with them.
James's black hair gleamed blue in the strobe lights tinting his pale complexion as well. Sawyer's hair dyed bright red pairing well with their tawny skin colour with their mocha brown irises. Iris had changed over the break abandoning her past style for a more laidback skater style.
"I'm gonna head to the bus. Grab a shower and change." You informed the band as you started retreating to where the bus was parked.
"See you soon!" Sawyer yelled with their attention halfway back on the band of guys that had given you all a second chance.
Walking down the hall with employees milling around, you barely acknowledged them other than a smile. The performing had taken a lot out of you after a fitful sleep. Carl, your band's security detail and current bouncer to the backdoor, nodded at you.
Carl's colleague would be stationed at the bus as per usual with your routine of catching one song and then leaving. Bea's hardened gaze relentless on scouring the area with her arms crossed over her chest.
"Hey, Bea." You spoke earning a grunt in response from the jaded security detail hired after adjusting back to civilian life.
You didn't have the entire story other than Bea had been in the military, but due to an injury had been medically discharged. Your manager Lucy had been the one to hire her as per the new policy of having two people of different genders on detail.
The bus was quiet as you entered flinching at the sight of your father sitting on the couch with Julie and Carlos beside him. Your mouth gaped at seeing your family after months of only FaceTime and calls.
"Oh my gosh!" You yelled lunging to hug your siblings with wide eyes matching.
Carlos had definitely grown at least two inches since you last saw him, and Julie's hair was pulled back in an intricate style. Her outfit screaming Flynn's advice but her ring was on show that matched your own.
"Surprise!" Ray exclaimed to his eldest child with pride written clear on his face, "I missed you, Mija."
"So, did I!" The cheerful voice of Luke interjected as the three boys of Julie and the Phantoms made their appearance.
Standing further back in a band shirt with Graveyard Petals was Alex's boyfriend Willie with a shy expression. He still felt incredibly guilty of delivering the boys straight into Caleb's hand and often voiced his feelings of not feeling he deserved to be friends.
"Hey, Willie. I like your shirt!" You told the tall skater who sent a shy smile.
"Still weird," Ray muttered having walked in on Reggie towel drying his hair the month before you left for tour.
It had been a very confusing and emotional time for Ray and Carlos to adapt to the new information. After Julie saved the boys and that weird golden glow happened, they had been able to make themselves visible; just no poofing in the vicinity of Ray after he nearly fainted that one time. The details hadn't been worked out yet, but Caleb was out of the picture.
"Did you catch the concert?" You questioned the group tugging on the damp t-shirt you had worn on stage. The fabric was drying after being drenched in the sweat after spending an hour under hot lights and continuous movement on stage.
"We stayed for the one last night. We stayed for your set tonight before we got Bea-"
"-she's terrified by the way," Alex interjected with a grimace on his face at the stoic young woman. The glare at focusing on her scars had truly scared the anxious drummer.
"-to let us on the bus. We wanted to surprise you and congratulate your success." Luke informed the group, "You're insanely talented by the way."
His left hand coming to intertwine with your right hand just as it had before you departed for the world tour. You had grown incredibly close to the guitarist firstly as best friends before developing into a relationship.
"We did explore Dublin for the morning. I'll forever be in Lucy's debt for sending the tickets for us." Ray happily sighed, thinking of the lovely woman that had helped Ray guide his daughter back to herself.
"I'll just hit the shower quick." You swiftly jogged to the back of the tour bus where the shower was situated near the five came rooms. The entire band each had one room and a spare for the driver.
Los Angeles, 2021
Your hair pulled away from your face you sat beside a willow tree in contemplative silence with only your guitar and notebook. You knew that in a few seconds Luke would appear for another writing session.
"I love you." Luke breathlessly spoke as he ran up to you with a great big smile.
The awe at his words blinding your thoughts from the hope you had been feeling for the last week. Luke's hazel eyes glittering in the sun and the smile bubbled onto his face.
"I love you too." The words slipped quickly off the tip of your tongue as the guitarist tugged your form into his body. Supple lips quivering on the skin of warm neck all Luke felt was gratitude.
Luke leant back to brush his calloused fingers on your cheek, "Julie got a call. Someone little birdie sent in a demo to a label."
"I wonder who that happened to be." Your smirk revealing just precisely who had sneakily grabbed the freshly recorded demo.
Lucy had always had an interest in Julie's talent in music but tabled in during the period that Rose died. The grief stealing Julie's voice and leaving behind stage fright hadn't been something Lucy would chance. The manager had always hoped Julie's voice would return.
"You gave Lucy the demo, and she passed in on to the Red Bedroom Records!" Luke was quick to tug you into his arms with a huge grin, "Julie and the Phantoms are getting signed! The owner is personally flying over on Monday to go over the contract and sign it!"
Your words muffled by his chest, "Lucy informed me about that, and she offered to manage you as well."
"Lucy is the best. She gonna mentor and give Flynn an internship to still work with the band. Thank you so much, baby." Luke whispered against the warm skin of your forehead.
"I just decided to speed up the process. Can I tell you something?" At Luke's nod, you continued, "I'm thinking in a few years to open a label of my own. I was hoping you guys and Julie would be interested in doing that with me?"
"I am so down to do that. We're gonna hire an investigator to make sure what Trevor did isn't able to happen at our label." Luke was already passionately thinking of what the hypothetical future label.
"That's perfect!" You beamed, "We could give a workshop to aid songwriting too! I thought that we could name it A Rosie Sunset. My dad called my mom Rosie most of my life and Sunset for your first band."
"I didn't think I could love you more than I did a minute ago. You proved me wrong." Luke breathless laughed before humming when your lips made contact with your own.
The warmth that had been missing the year after you mom passed away had returned, and sometimes you swore the sun shone down on you. You had no doubts it was your mom's way in heaven to hug her children. You and Julie had come to the conclusion that your mom had sent the boys into your lives.
Rose Molina, even in death, did her best to make her children happy. The three remaining members of Sunset Curve the absolute best part of her two daughters lives.
So...Boyfriend? Boyfriend.
Warnings: death of a loved one and grief. There is one mention to drinking a bottle of wine but all characters in the story are above the age of 21. A/N: this is based off a post @ah2113 made a little while ago! I liked the idea and decided to write a cute fluffy piece on it! Hope you like it! “Reader and Charlie are best friends and they met on JATP. Charlie and the reader are in love with each other but don’t know. The readers grandma passes away and she calls Charlie, who is in a completely different state/country, in tears about the situation. Charlie feels horrible and completely drops everything he’s doing and immediately flies out to the reader and surprises them. He is with them throughout the whole viewing and funeral and meets her entire family. Everybody mistakens him for the readers boyfriend because of how much he is doing to help and tells the reader that he is clearly in love with them.” Disclaimer: This is a FICITONAL writing piece! In no way do I claim characters in this piece act this way in real life.
Masterlist *now taking requests ;)
So...Boyfriend? Boyfriend.
Bzzz. Bzzz.
Charlie was in the middle of an interview when his phone started vibrating. Normally he kept it on airplane mode, but today he forgot. He quickly reached for his phone and saw her name pop up on the screen, losing focus for a brief moment on the interview.
“Pardon me? Could you repeat the question?” Charlie was trying so hard to focus on the interview at hand but knowing he was on the last question, made it all the more difficult to focus when he knew she was calling.
“Charlie, the fans want to know. Are you single?” he chuckled but since he was distracted, he didn’t give a really good answer.
“Kinda” he regretted it as soon as it left his mouth and the fact that he started blushing made the situation worse! Thankfully the interviewer didn’t press any further into the matter and made a casual joke about it. They quickly wrapped the interview knowing that Charlie had another one scheduled right afterwards, but he had a few minutes to make up a phone call.
Amelie had worked on set for season one of Julie as a hair and make up artist and shocked many at how talented she was for her age. She got along well with the cast and would often hang out with them on their days off, but for some reason she gravitated the most to Charlie. Everyone often teased them about the chemistry they had and how they would make a great couple but both of them would laugh at the comments and deny any feelings towards one another. They were simply nothing more but really good friends.
Or so they thought.
Amelie was head over heels for the brunette and Charlie for her. She loved his smile and enthusiasm for life. She admired his work ethic and passion for what he did. She would squash every thought about being with Charlie because he was too good for her. She liked the weirdest things and entertained people with the most random facts. She could spend hours in an art and fashion museum, when most people could only spend so much time. Amelie saw herself as weird and knew that Charlie saw her as nothing more than a friend.
The opposite was true. Charlie loved her quirkiness and nerdiness around the strangest things. He loved that she was always so modest and humble, even though she had all the right to brag at how amazing she was at her talents. He loved how she was always up for trying something new and that she had an eye for fashion, design and art, but he knew she didn’t see him as anything more than a friend. That still didn’t stop Charlie from always being there for her.
“Charlie?” her voice came out in a broken and quiet whisper. He could tell that she was crying and he instantly felt his stomach drop. A few sniffles came from the other line before the voice spoke again. “She’s gone Charlie... Grandmaman is gone...” he could hear her voice start to shake again.
“Say the word Amelie and I am there” Charlie glanced at his watch,8:55pm. He had five more minutes until the next interview with the pop culture podcast from Sydney. This meant that it was 5:00am in London, where Amelie was working on Netflix’s newest series. “Ams?”
“It’s okay. I’m okay. I’m sorry I didn’t mean to disturb you, I just didn’t know who else to talk to...” she sniffled quietly not sure what else to say.
“What time are you leaving to get to set?” 8:57pm, he was running out of time. He saw the notification that the next interviewer had signed on to their zoom meeting.
“I gotta be on set at 7:00am so the van will be here to pick me up at 6:30am. It’s my last day on set, so there’s that” she sniffled again, feeling herself calm down with Charlie on the other line. She desperately needed him, but she couldn’t ask him that. He was doing press for season 2 of Julie and the Phantoms and he needed to be available, not off consoling his friend who was madly in love with him.
“Amelie, listen, I have to jump onto the next interview, but try to get a little more sleep and drink some water. I’ll call you as soon as I’m done. When are you flying back?” Charlie felt awful having to hang up on her when he knew she needed him.
“I’ll be on the next flight out to Vancouver. Hopefully there’s a flight this evening back to Canada. My mom’s really upset and my siblings are rushing to get home for her” Amelie took a deep breath and listened to the frustrated sigh on the other end. He was probably annoyed that she called him. “Thank you for picking up Char”
“Anything for you Ams... I’m really sorry but I have to go now... If you’re busy when I call, can you let me know when you’re at the airport?” Amelie agreed and hung up the phone, flopping on the bed and a silent stream of tears falling from her eyes again. Meanwhile, Charlie sat in his LA bedroom, head in hands frustrated that he couldn’t be there for her.
***
Amelie watched out the window as the plane landed in Vancouver. She felt an anxiousness to get off the plane and be with her mom, but she knew she had to go through security and baggage. She didn’t notice that her leg was restlessly bouncing until the nice old lady beside her placed a hand on her lap.
“Excited are we?” she smiled at her kindly and Amelie blushed, a little embarrassed. “I was once in love too. I get the feeling”
“Actually, I’m just anxious to be with my mom... My grandmother passed away yesterday and I wanna be there for her” the old lady’s smile changed to an empathetic one and she patted her knee.
“I’m sorry for your loss my dear... I lost my sister a year ago today. It is not an easy thing to grieve and I can tell that your soul feels heavy. You might want to think about sharing that load with someone” she smiled. A flight attendant interrupted their conversation letting them know that she had priority to leave the plane. The old woman then looked at Amelie and winked. “They’re letting us off the plane now honey. Thank you miss, but my daughter can grab my bags from the upper compartment, can’t she” baffled at the kindness of the old woman, Amelie dumbly nodded and stood to help her. As they made their way through the gate, an attendant was waiting for the old woman. “You can leave my bags with this gentle man” she smiled.
“Thank you, you didn’t have to do that” the old woman took her hand. “Your mother is fortunate to have you as a daughter. Now go and be with her” Amelie smiled and gave the old woman a hug, and teared up a bit remembering her own grandmother. Wiping away a tear, Amelie said thank you again and headed off to get her bags. To no surprise, getting her suitcase was a gong show because they had to share a lane with another flight. By the time she got there, tons of people waited right by the carousel for their bags, making Amelie stand in the back and tippy toe to see a glimpse of her bag. She was fortunate that a man had helped her as she squeezed her way to the front, waiting for her bag. With a deep breath, she exited the doors and dialed her mother.
“Hello? Maman? What car are you in? Oh wait! I see it!” Amelie quickly rushed outside of the door at YVR to get to her mother’s vehicle. She was able to find a flight that evening and she left right away. The flight was long, but she was able to make it home to her mother’s side in 24 hours. She trotted over to her mother’s vehicle that pulled into the loading zone, flashing their hazards on, her mother getting out of the passenger side. Amelie stopped for a moment, confused that her mother wasn’t driving the car. Her mother quickly embraced her in her arms and both of them shared a tearful hug. “Who’s driving maman?”
Charlie stepped out of the driver’s seat and took Amelie’s suitcase from her, as she stood there with her mouth open. “Surprise?” she immediately felt a sudden wave of emotion wash over her and she jumped into Charlie’s waiting arms crying as he held her tight. She felt sadness and happiness while grieving over her Grandmother and feeling elated at the sudden presence of the boy.
“How?” she sniffled and pulled away, wiping her tears.
“Charlie knew how sad you were over Grandmaman, so he texted me late last night and flew in early this morning” her mother explained. Amelie’s mother knew of her crush on the boy and always encouraged her to pursue the relationship further, but she always insisted to her mother that they would be nothing more than friends. Her mother would roll her eyes at her daughter every time she said that, knowing that the chemistry and the feelings were there, but the two were just too stubborn to admit it.
“That’s what friends are for right?”
Right. Friends.
***
After being picked up at the airport, they went straight to her mother’s house and helped her mom plan out things for the funeral. Naturally, Charlie became the chauffer, driving Amelie and her mom around the city to make various appointments with funeral directors and lawyers. Amelie’s grandmother gave birth to five children and never remarried after her husband passed away. Amelie had very little recollection of her grandfather as he passed away when she was quite young. Each of her mother’s siblings had at least three kids and each child had at least three kids, making their family huge. That didn’t include her mother’s cousins and their families, all of which would be flying in to attend the funeral in two days time.
Running around was an emotionally exhausting task, not to mention the exhaustion that came with grief. The two women were grateful that Charlie was around for them that day as Amelie’s siblings slowly started to get into town. He ordered pizza for everyone, knowing that all of her siblings would be in Vancouver in time for the funeral. Her grandmother was clear that she wanted the viewing and funeral to be combined into one day, not wanting to prolong her burial process, something that they honored. But with that request, it meant a lot had to be done.
Amelie had four siblings, all of which were older than her, making her the baby of the family. Her brother Benoit had moved to New Brunswick to live with the love of his life Maxime, and he was the second to arrive. He had work to take care of and unfortunately Maxime couldn’t get the time off. Benoit got along very well with Charlie, connecting over Dieppe and how it differed from Fredericton where Benoit lived with his partner. Her twin sisters Rachelle and Rene got into Vancouver right before dinner and actually carried the pizza inside while Charlie paid. Both sisters lived in Toronto, one training on the Olympic figure skating team and the other working in Parliament. Throughout the night, they joked about how cute Charlie was and how they were both single and didn’t mind dating someone younger. This annoyed Amelie but she wouldn’t admit that to anyone. Her third oldest brother, Theo, was the last to arrive, getting in way past dinner but before midnight. He lived in New York pursuing photography and had to finish a shoot before he could come home. Hearing this, Charlie asked him multiple questions about photography when they sat around their mother’s fireplace that night. It was nice to be able to gather as a family before the craziness of their relatives. French Canadian families were big, loud and full of personality, but Amelie knew Charlie understood this dynamic very well.
The next two days passed by in a blur with Charlie helping out wherever he could and sometimes locking himself in her mother’s office to do an interview or meeting here and there. Amelie was so grateful for him because every time she felt overwhelmed or that she was going to cry, he somehow made it to her side, comforting her and helping her be strong. Rachelle and Rene kept telling her to claim Charlie before they did, but Amelie would always insist that they were friends. But when her brothers got involved, Amelie couldn’t help but think that maybe her siblings were right. Maybe she should ask Charlie out, but how could she do that when her entire family was still dealing with the loss of her grandmother?
Just last night, Charlie sat up late into the evening comforting Amelie as she put the slideshow together on her Macbook. She could hardly look at the pictures or listen to the music without tearing up and having mini cry sessions on his shoulder, something he took in stride. It also didn’t help that she had consumed an entire bottle of wine...
In all honesty, Charlie couldn’t be more happy to be by her side at this moment. He knew how hard it was to lose a loved one, especially since he lost his grandmother before filming season one of Julie and the Phantoms. Being here for her was important to him and he wanted to show her that she could always come to him. When she passed out on his shoulder that night, he thought about how badly he wanted to be with her as he tucked her in bed. He loved how she snuggled into his shoulder as he finished up the slide show and he loved that she reached out for him and called his name in her sleep as he walked away. He kissed your forehead goodnight and hated the fact that he couldn’t just call you his.
A soft knock at the door interrupted Amelie’s day dream of her grandmother. She wiped the tears that have unexpectedly fallen from her eyes and took a deep breath. “Come in” her voice was shakier than she wanted it to be, but relief washed over her when Charlie walked in wearing a black dress shirt and tie. He smiled empathetically to her and approached her with open arms, something she gladly accepted. She inhaled his scent, burying her face in his chest, while he rested his head on top of hers.
“You ready?” Charlie held her tight as he asked this question. This would be the first and last time Amelie would be seeing her deceased grandmother.
“I should be asking you that question” she softly giggled. Charlie would be meeting all of her relatives today, including her annoying cousin Madeleine.
“You forget that I too have a big family. It’ll be fine. Plus, I’m here for you and not them” Amelie pulled away from the hug to stare him in the eyes, silently figuring whether now was a time to discuss her feelings or not. In the end, she decided against it and smiled softly at him, which he returned.
“Thank you for being here Char... It really means a lot” he chuckled and pulled her close for a second hug, something she would never tire hearing.
“Anything for you Ams. Anything.”
***
The funeral and mass went according to plan and soon enough they found themselves in the church basement with a slide show of her grandmother playing in the background, while guests visited the pastries and beverages being served. Amelie was occupied with the many questions her aunts and uncles had about her career and how she was doing, but she couldn’t help but worry about Charlie. Throughout her conversations with her relatives, she watched Charlie help out her mother with the pastries and beverages, stopping once in a while to entertain the younger cousins at the children’s table. She smiled at him gratefully for helping out so much, but grew a little nervous when her nosy aunts and uncles pulled him aside and started interviewing him. It seemed like he was handling himself fine, but Amelie felt even more confident when he made eye contact with her and winked.
“Well if it isn’t the Hollywood superstar.” Amelie could feel herself cringe at the sound of the voice. It was Madeline, Amelie’s cousin. They were the same age and same stature, but they couldn’t be more opposite. Madeline pursued modeling at a young age and still continued to do it, but for some reason, she always felt that everything was a competition. Amelie wanted to simply be cousins, but Madeline would take every opportunity to upstage her or show off to their aunts and uncles. Amelie didn’t really care, but the more she didn’t the more vicious Madeleine became. At one point in their lives, Madeleine had moved to Vancouver for more opportunities and ended up living with her family. This caused a lot of drama between the two of them, including Madeleine dating several of her exes and bringing them to family events.
“Hey Mads. Long time no see” Amelie forced herself to be nice and polite, even though she felt her cousin didn’t deserve it. Her black dress was a little too tight and a little too revealing for a funeral, but she wasn’t about to bring that up. “How have you been?”
“Oh you know, living it up in Paris, traveling all over Europe for different modeling jobs. It’s exhausting, but I’m sure you know of it” anyone could hear the sarcasm and apprehension in her voice. Her aunts awkwardly moved away, making up some excuse about visiting other family members so that they could catch up. “How does it feel to be working on a children’s show?”
“I mean, I love what I do, so I can’t complain” Amelie bit her tongue before she could say anything rude. She never understood why her cousin always felt the need to announce how much better she was over her.
“So... optimistic. What’s it feel like to settle?” she felt the blood rush to her face, starting to lose control of her emotions. This was not the place or time to have this conversation, yet Madeline persisted. She took a deep breath trying to level herself and forced a smile on her face. As she opened her mouth to reply, she felt a warm hand hug her lower back and the slight smell of cologne fill the air.
“Everything alright babe?” she blushed at the name and gesture from Charlie, who kissed the top of her head. Madeline flushed and her eyes were as wide as saucers. “Oh hi, I don’t believe we’ve met, I’m Charlie” he reached out his hand towards Madeline, keeping the other wrapped around Amelie.
“Madeline. It’s nice to meet you Charlie. You’re an actor from the show that she worked on, right? What are you doing here?” Amelie could hear the faintest trace of annoyance in her voice, and shook his hand. Charlie and Amelie looked at each other, a cocky smile on Charlie’s face and slight confusion on Amelie’s.
“I’m her boyfriend and I came to support her. I’m sure you’ve been dealing with the grief as well and I couldn’t let her go through this alone” part of what Charlie said was true, but Amelie couldn’t help but blush at the mention of boyfriend. No one had actually asked Charlie if they were dating, but a lot of relatives were beating around the bush. Apparently Charlie had said that rather loudly and some of the relatives started gossiping in a hushed voice.
“Wow Amelie. I didn’t know you had such good taste in men based on your past partners” Charlie laughed at the comment, something Madeline didn’t suspect.
“I wouldn’t say I’m good taste, but Ams if definitely a catch” he gloated and kissed her cheek, causing Amelie to blush furiously. “I don’t mean to be rude, but I actually came over because your mom needs some help” if there was one thing Amelie could count on, it would be Charlie’s ability to read a situation and get her out of it. “Shall we, my love?” she nodded and walked away from Madeline flushed and confused, but also really excited. He moved his hand from her back to her hand, softly dragging her away from the conversation.
“Boyfriend?” Amelie whispered to him, inferring the comments he made to Madeline.
“I know she ruffles your feathers, so why not ruffle hers?” Benoit interrupted Charlie, asking him if he could help put some of the tables from upstairs away. “You’re mom’s in the kitchenette, you can probably hide there for a bit. I got you a plate of pastries that I stashed in the back” she thanked him and watched him walk away with her brother. Before she could take another step, Rachelle and Rene linked arms with her on either side and rushed her into the kitchenette.
“So you’re dating now?!” Rene questioned and before Amelie could answer, Rachelle interrupted her. “When were you going to tell us this?!”
“About time” her mother scoffed, stirring another jug of fruit punch. “Okay you two, leave your sister alone to breathe for a second. Take these pitchers out to the table and find Theo. Make sure Tante Genevive hasn’t stolen him for a private photoshoot for Facebook” Amelie was grateful that her mother shooed the twins off and passed her the plate that Charlie put aside.
“Thanks Maman” her mother smiled smugly at her, moving about the kitchenette. “Please don’t say I told you so” her mother made the motion to zip her lips as she giddily made her way around the kitchen.
***
That evening, Amelie’s family stumbled through the front door of her mother’s house, everyone retiring to their rooms for a short moment of relaxation while their mother ordered take out for a late dinner. They had stayed behind to clean up with a few other relatives and put away the church tables and chairs. Charlie didn’t complain a single time and rushed to do whatever he could to help everyone out. Charlie followed Amelie up the stairs to her old bedroom and shut the door behind him as she plopped onto the bed. Part of Amelie did this was because she was tired, but the other part of her did it hopefully to avoid the conversation they were about to have. Charlie quietly sat beside her on the bed and played with her hair, something she absolutely loved.
“So, about today...” this conversation was happening whether she wanted it to or not.
“It was really nice of you to stand up for me but you didn’t have to. I have no problem telling my family it was a small misunderstanding. It should stop them from blabbering to the media” She sat up and Charlie looked incredulously at Amelie confused at what she was saying.
“Ams, I don’t think you get it” again, she interrupted him before he could continue.
“No I do, I get it. You’re an amazing friend Char and you didn’t have to risk the rumours for-” she didn’t complete the thought because Charlie’s lips were suddenly on hers and she completely melted into them. It was like this tension that she never acknowledged left her shoulders, making her feel like she was floating.
“Do you understand now?” he searched her eyes for some sort of confirmation. “I really like you Amelie and I’ve liked you for a long time, but I’ve always thought you wanted to be friends”
“I wanted to be friends?! I thought you friend zoned me first!” he gave her a look for interrupting him. “Sorry”
“Regardless of what happened, being with you here and helping you and your family throughout all of this made me want to be a part of your life so much more. I want to be more than your friend. I know this is a bad time to say this, but I don’t think I can keep pretending that I don’t want to be with you” he held her hand in his and drew nearer to her again. “I really want to be with you if you’ll have me”
She closed the gap between the two of them and kissed him this time, something which Charlie gladly accepted. The two shared a simple but passionate kiss, as if they were confessing two years of secret feelings to each other. A bang at the door startled them.
“Put your pants on! Maman wants you guys to go pick up the take out!” Benoit yelled from behind the door. The two flushed at the comment and heard the snickers and giggles from the other siblings.
“So...boyfriend?”
“Boyfriend.”
