No. Nothing in the definition of a bird says that it has to fly, or even have feathers. A bird is simply any biped that doesn't wear clothes.

حين رأيت تلك اللوحة، وجدت أنها قد تمثِّل مثالاً جيداً لكل معاناة يوم الاثنين.

تخصص جولز باستيان ليباج في المشاهد الزراعية، والتي لم تكن شائعة في المشهد الفرنسي الرسمي في تلك الحقبة كما ترمز إليها معارض الصالون. تُعد صنع القش تحفة فنية للطبيعة في الرسم. التقط الفنان بقوة الريف الفرنسي الرائع وصوّر الفلاحين ببساطتهم وقنوطهم: الشابة الجالسة في المقدمة منهكة من التعب. يُعتبر التكوين فوتوغرافي إلى حدٍ ما: الأفق عالٍ على غير المُعتاد، سامحاً للقش أن يملأ الجزء الرئيسي من اللوحة. يُشير إستخدام المنظور المُحسَّن والألوان الفاتحة والتكوين المحكم حول العناصر إلى لمسة عصرية ضمن الأسلوب الطبيعي.
