September Prompts 🌻
4. Juke Box More Modern/College AU set in Toronto with a little sprinkle of Pokkopiku.
Somewhere on Dundas street is a tavern that melds a selection of hipster microbrews with a selection of vintage arcade games. Armin's not usually one for going out, as being perpetually overworked is any grad student's god-given right, but tonight is an exception.
So in a dimly lit corner of the place, he stands behind a contraption made decades before he was born. He sips on his lager and goes between watching Porco work at the buttons on pinball machine, and watching Pieck cheer for her boyfriend like it's the playoffs and there's thirty seconds left on the scoreboards. Even if he's not the one playing or even yelling as loud as Pieck, it's a moment like this that makes Armin wonder if he should go out more.
Upon finishing his lager, Armin leaves the Pinball Wizard and the Spectator to head back to the bar. Like a good patron, he waits patiently to be served, orders a refill from a tattooed barkeep, and makes sure to add some cash to the tip jar.
When he turns back around Armin scans the tavern behind browline glasses. The first thing he notices is Porco pumping his fist in triumph and Pieck cheering under the influence of an overpriced IPA, but the second thing he notices is alone in the corner.
With a fresh lager in hand, Armin steps over, weaving through a sea of patrons enjoying the vintage video games of their choice. He arrives to find Annie standing in front a machine that fits with the venue's overall theme, but will not allow the user a round of Pac-Man or Crazy Taxi.
Annie is browsing the music of a jukebox that time forgot, a machine that looks much older than the others but is still alive despite everything. When Armin stands beside her he gets a glimpse of the discs inside. Most of the songs are from the 60s or 70s, though one tune from '81 appears to have made the list against all odds.
Armin watches his girlfriend select a song by the Supremes that he's only ever heard from his grandmother's gramophone. The tune may contrast the indie rock playing through the venue's speakers, but Annie seems undeterred with her choice and pushes the play button.
When the vocals of Diana Ross don't start playing from the machine, Annie pushes the button harder and Armin chuckles.
"I think you're supposed to put in a quarter."
She turns and gives him a look that just screams 'do you think me stupid?' but stops short of actually saying it, much to Armin's amusement.
"I know," she tells him instead. "But sometimes these things are rigged for free."
Armin watches Annie fish around her pockets in search for some kind of coinage, because even in this economy she should have something lying around. He feels in his pockets as well and soon procures a handful of quarters and lint.
"Here, I got some change."

hello!! thaank you very much for that <3
rayssa m. kobayashi, she/her.
kento nanami (or nanamin), he him, s/o.
relationship: s/o.
— messages from your DR person.
i would like to know if he has something specific to tell me, or something special.
extra info: my dr is from jujutsu kaisen (manga/anime). just like me, he is a jujutsu sorcerer (but i'm also a veterinarian). lovers. (sorry for the little extra information... my head went blank 🥲)
Hello! Thank you for participating ♡
Shufflemancy: Greasy Spoon - Sam Fender, Constellations - The Oh Hellos, Morning Breeze - Juke Ross, Sober To Death - Car Seat Headrest.
Nanami is pulling your ear because you're not sleeping properly, not eating well, and not taking care of yourself like you should. Sometimes, you overwhelm yourself with your daily responsibilities (whether it’s work, school, etc.), and you forget to practice self-care, which ends up making you feel worse and more exhausted. Instead of fixing it, you just keep repeating the same routine, and that drives Nanami crazy because all he wants is for you to be okay, lol. It’s funny because he says that if you keep this up, he’s not going to have sex with you anymore, LMAO, and don’t even try lying to him about it. He knows that things around you might feel like they’re falling apart right now, but he assures you that you’re going to be fine. You’re not alone— Nanami is right there by your side, and whenever you need him, all you have to do is reach out to him.

Because you have great music recs, I'll go with D for your game!
D: Is there a song or a playlist to associate with [insert fic]?
Aw thank you 😊❤️
I won't share my playlists for my fics, because they're so eclectic and some only make the lists because a line or two of a song resonates with a character/scene/story while the rest has nothing to do with it lol. But I am always ready to discuss songs and fanfic pairings! 🙌
But if I had to pick a couple of songs for each it'd be these...
Gold Rush
Strings
Drip
Chiffon
Sweet Janes Series
Maverick Series

List 5 things that make you happy, then put this in the askbox for the last 10 people who reblogged something from you. learn to know your mutuals and followers.(ू•‧̫•ू⑅)♡
5 things that make me happy. This is a very good question to answer because I've been struggling since 2020 with remembering the good things, the little things, the things I did or was exposed to every day that I slowly stopped doing or caring to notice because the world just felt more and more depressing. And here I am in 2023 struggling to get out of bed sometimes, and certainly struggling to find the meaning in all we do, why exactly it's even worth it to try and make the most of myself.
When I feel like that, I can familiarize myself with any of these things and while they don't cure it, they help. ❤️
1)baking for ppl and then sharing that food with them. It never feels as enjoyable to eat a batch of muffins or cookies or cake for myself when I could split it up and gift it to family or neighbors. I enjoy the actual act of giving someone a gift that will nourish them and make them happy. It makes me feel useful and just thrilled that someone liked something I made, and therefore by extension me.
2)my cats purring, my dog standing up and wrapping her arms around me, my horses tucking their head around my shoulders when I hug them. The affection they know they can safely give because they trust me. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.
3)the smell of clean laundry drying on the line, or the air after/during rain. When it's a candle or a car scent tree I love the smell of the ocean. Nothing heavily scented, things that feel fresh and open, and free.
4)music I can sing along to... Cheerful songs. love songs. Songs about life. I put a few examples here.
-Dont Worry Be Happy : Bobby McFarin
-Put Your Records On : Corrinne Bailey Rae
-Green Green Grass : George Ezra
-Morning Breeze : Juke Ross
-My Girl : The Temptations
-Smile : Nat King Cole
-You're My Best Friend : Queen
-Under the Boardwalk : The Drifters
-Im A Believer : The Monkees
-Brown Eyed Girl : Van Morrison
5)stories with happy endings. I didn't watch a ton of movies growing up but I've always always preferred movies with positive resolutions. Particularly romantic comedies as I grew up but romance in general. Adventure. People figuring themselves out and still getting to be happy in the end. Life sucks enough as it is, I don't mind stepping away from that and watching 1+ character(s) struggle and ultimately succeed.
-Anastasia
-Aladdin
-Clueless
-Ella Enchanted
-Nanny Diaries
-She's the Man
-Spirit
-The Princess Bride
-The Princess Diaries
-The Sound of Music
etc etc etc.

A woman who helped her boyfriend flee after he and a friend murdered a disabled man over a family's Facebook feud has been detained for more than two years.
Ross Connelly, 46, was beaten to death at his home in Wheatley Hill, County Durham, by Lewis Armstrong, 18, and Harvey Hughes, 20, in May 2023.
Armstrong's girlfriend, Millie Bradley, who was 18 at the time of the killing, initially denied assisting an offender but changed her plea several days into a trial, Newcastle Crown Court heard.
Judge Nathan Adams said it was "inconceivable" Bradley was unaware Mr Connelly, who was effectively housebound, had been seriously injured during the "merciless and cowardly attack".
Mr Connelly, who had a longstanding alcohol issue and slept in his living room, had been engaged in a heated argument on Facebook with his cousin, Armstrong's mother, during 30 April, the court heard.
Armstrong recruited Hughes and others to go to Mr Connelly's home in Alexandra Terrace in the early hours of 1 May to "force him to take down the posts and visit severe punishment on him," prosecutor Nicholas Lumley KC said.
The court heard it was not possible to say who inflicted which injuries, but audio recordings from a neighbour's security camera revealed there must have been at least 40 blows on Mr Connelly as he was attacked in his bed.
His attackers fled and he was left to die from impaired breathing and blood loss, having suffered multiple broken ribs, bones and injuries to his head, the court heard.
Bradley, who had started a relationship with Armstrong shortly before the attack, drove him to Mr Connelly's house in her Nissan Juke in convoy with Hughes' van from Peterlee, stopping on the way at Armstrong's father's yard where it is believed they collected weapons including a metal pole.
Mr Lumley said a woman's voice could be heard laughing on the recording while the attack took place and Bradley, now 20, must have been able to hear the beating.
She then drove Armstrong away at speed and stayed with him until about 14:00, after which she sent him the numbers of his relatives when he got a new mobile phone, the court heard.
Bradley, of Beech Grove, Trimdon Grange, continued to message him over the following days, expressing her love and offering to help him before she was arrested at her home on 3 May, the court heard.
Hughes was arrested in Leeds the same day and Armstrong handed himself in on 21 May after going on the run, the court heard.
Both denied murder but were found guilty following a trial at Newcastle Crown Court and jailed for life in November.
Hughes was given a minimum of 26 years and Armstrong 24 years.
Mr Lumley said Bradley "must have been aware" of the feud and that Mr Connelly had been seriously injured.
'Misguided loyalty'
In mitigation, Jane Foley said Bradley, who had been working in a beauty salon while attending college, had been "immature and totally naïve".
"One questions whether she had the confidence or strength of character to say no to [Armstrong] after he returned to her car," Ms Foley said, adding: "What was she to do, a young girl never before in that situation?"
She said Bradley was "horrified" by Mr Connelly's death and she had made the "worst decision of her life".
Judge Adams said he accepted Bradley may have felt "under pressure" from Armstrong and panicked, adding "misguided loyalty played a part".
But he said she must have known about the "simmering feud" and what had happened to Mr Connelly, adding it "must have been obvious something terrible had occurred" with the "relentless beating".
Bradley was sentenced to 27 months at a young offender institution.
