not sure if ppl are actually weirded out by my user or not, which most certainly is not my intention, but i feel the need to rant abt my thoughts on madoc! i also don’t wanna deter anyone bc of my user 😭! btw i totally understand if u hate him w all your guts like truly i get it but don’t hate on me for not! my user is mostly a joke! (also i LOVE cardan and jude sm more than madoc obviously just the “madockisser” user is funnier and so few ppl talk abt madoc so i feel the need to 😭)

madoc raised 3 children that weren’t his, was willing to risk quite literally everything to become king so his poor mortal daughters will be treated like princesses in a world where they’re treated like garbage. madoc has his faults(like trying to make poor oakey pokey king), but a lot of them can be chalked up to his redcap nature, being bloodthirsty and power hungry and just not understanding jude and her morals since their morals and life experiences are just SO different

him and jude have the same goal, except madoc and his nature, his morals, make the execution of that goal and the endpoint a bit different. jude is trying to save oak from being king so he won’t have to grow up bloodthirsty and drenched in blood like she did, while madoc is trying to make oak king, which he thinks is obviously the best thing he can do for him since madoc is so power hungry.

in their own eyes, they each think what they have planned for oak is best, and obviously to madoc making his son king after slaughtering nearly the rest of the greenbriar bloodline which solidifies his succession to the throne is a great boon, and in his eyes, jude isn’t trying to keep him from doing that to protect oak, (since he doesn’t understand that jude grew up so miserably) he sees jude trying to take/keep oaks throne from him.

jude says in her inner monologue at some point that she’s sure that madoc would relinquish the throne to oak when he’s of age, since he’s a man of honor or wtv, and madoc obv thinks this is just the best course for oak. why wouldn’t madoc want his children powerful and bloodthirsty? he wants them to be like him, and more than that, he doesn’t want them to slave away for a greenbriar like madoc did to eldred and balekin and dain(which he reveals in the stolen heir duo)

another thing is his morals when it comes to dain. he was livid in a way oriana had never seen when he heard about what dain did to oak and liriope. which makes perfect sense for him because he has honor enough to not slaughter a woman for being pregnant and by extent taking the life of the child inside just to remain in power and in favor.

dain did something that madoc inherently disagreed w. so madocs decision was obviously to betray him and run him through after replanning. it’s just in his nature. he replans, betrays, and resorts to murder when it matters lol. he does the same (sorta) w balekin by using him as a ploy to get oaks throne. balekin who has human slaves treated terribly, while madoc had a human wife and human children. i’m shocked balekin didn’t see madocs betrayal coming.

and even tho jude did something he inherently disagreed w/ and didn’t try to understand (which frustrates me sm) he gives her so many chances to come back to his side, he gives her advice, he gives her chances, betraying his nature for his daughter until qon, when he finally resorts to murder. fucking devastating.

on a lighter note, i do think it’s funny tho that despite it all he was still a better father than eldred and dain, and better guardian than balekin. though i will say that i do NOT excuse so many of madocs actions (bc he causes my poor baby jude so much pain), and when i’m actively rereading esp during qon i do in fact hate that mf, …i just think he’s dilf-y.

unrelated but he’s like the lead of a monster romance. holly black actually has another green sweetheart-chemist murdery bf, in her book valiant, but he’s too niche like nobody knows abt him which is so sad bc he’s sooooo cute and sweet. “ravuskisser” would be my user

i love reading his and jude’s dynamic, i love reading abt him and eva and him and oriana. i love in tpt when he FINALLY says something abt eva, finally understanding why she left him, and him owning up to his mistakes, but then saying , “but if it were not for my mistakes, i would not have the family i have today.” 😭😭😭😭😭

ALSO, the exile. it was so necessary. madoc living amongst humans helps him realize so much about eva, jude and taryn. “since humans have a shorter lifespan, they would risk much for happiness.” he says (not word for word) in tpt when speaking of eva, but ofc it also applies to jude and taryn.

anyway i guess moral of the story i like madoc bc daddy issues ig and also his complexity, holly black is a genius at writing morally grey faeries w diff mindsets! also how jude describes him to be a “tall man” the second he’s on the page like damn i get it eva and ori! anyway even holly black supports madoc kissers like me so don’t judge me!

GOOD QUESTION purely because I cannot choose just one book 😭😭 my favourite series is of course TFOTA, that's what started everything for me when I read it on my Kindle back in the summer holidays of 2023.

I'll do a ranking of my favourite to least favourite series:

1. TFOTA (The Cruel Prince, The Lost Sisters, The Wicked King, The Queen Of Nothing, How The King Of Elfhame Learned To Hate Stories)

2. The Stolen Heir + The Prisoner's Throne (it's part of TFOTA but it's a seperate series so it gets a seperate ranking)

3. The Modern Faerie Tales (Tithe, Ironside, Valiant)

4. The Darkest Part Of The Forest (I haven't read it yet, so I'm just going to put it here on the ranking for now)

listen. i know we would've all loved to have seen him run through with a sword, but there really is something fiercely poetic about Locke, lover of stories, who played with other people's lives as if they were his own story to write, being killed off-page.

the most consequential moment of his life happening for the shock and entertainment of exactly zero people (okay, maybe Taryn was a bit entertained) is justice met, to me. knowing he would've hated his own death in a story makes it that much sweeter.

As a Barca fan, thank you for the words on jude. Rivalry aside you gotta feel bad for him, hes being run to the ground at 21yrs. And no one wishes that on any player. We gotta remember, taking aside football, the players are humans and humans have their limitations and emotions. It’s hurtful seeing him like this. He’s young and there is a lot more he can do and he has basically his whole life ahead of him. Being an overachiever is tough (I am one too) but you gotta know when to stop, and idk if Jude know how to do that or ask for that, which isn’t good if that is the case. I just hope someone or something will make him slow down if he can’t do it himself. I don’t hope for injury for selfish reason eg. Him not playing, but I hope that for him so he could have some sort of break for himself and he could heal form his other injuries and get his energy back (cuz his energy seems really dense and disconnected…).

But ofc, what I said are speculations and my own intuitive opinion, I may be complete wrong (I hope so) but at least to me it would make sense and explain why he’s been underperforming in the past year. I don’t following him as much as many of his fans do, but what I’ve observed, it seems that the only time where he can fully spread his wings and preform is during the national matches. Idk if it’s to blame RM or something else eg. the rumors I’ve seen of him hooking up a lot with escorts? etc. …but there is always a reason and an answer behind everything…maybe they are totally different, who knows!? I hope he’ll be okay, he’s a nice lad, and even though he has played for clubs who are my rivals, I still care and respect him him as a player.

I fear that he blames himself a lot, which isn’t healthy because there are 11+ more players in his team, who imo are equally at fault.

I can never escape it. I shall never escape it, they're always hunting me down. Mentally, physically, it doesn't matter. Ahahaha thank you, this is awesome! I've been excited to answer this all day. I'm assuming you're referring to this list, which is the drivers' song choices for the Bristol Motor Speedway Night Race. This happens every year at Bristol specifically and has been happening since 2009! Not relevant to the question, just a fun fact I wanted to share!

I mean the obvious choice would be Hey Jude by the Beatles. But I haven't decided whether or not they'd be canon within the Judeverse yet.

Other unserious picks would be Rhinestone Cowboy by Glen Campbell, as I consider that to be "her song." Corona by Minutemen, Free Bird by Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Good Ol' Boys by Waylon Jennings also come to mind. (Theme song for "Jackass" the tv show, obvious, theme song for "Dukes of Hazzard" the tv show. Do you see the theme haha)

Two things that are true about Jude Wilson is that she loves all her genres of country music and she loves Oklahoma. So the songs that I actually think she might pick are Tulsa Time by Don Williams—🎵 livin' on tulsa tiiimee, livin' on tulsa tiimee. well you know i've been through when i set my watch back to it, livin on tulsa timee 🎵—or East Bound and Down by Jerry Reed—🎵 east bound and dooown, loaded up and truckin' a-we gon do what they say caint be done. we've got a long way to go and a short time to get there, east bound and down watch ol' bandit run 🎵. The last one especially if I actually name her car "Bandit" but I haven't decided it yet. Not necessarily, though if someone's portrayal of Stolas has him trans, then yes! My portrayal leans more towards being non-binary, so I suppose it falls under the umbrella! But I operate more on the basis of his being non-binary + a demon, so realistically. . . their forms don't have to be/aren't necessarily strict. If that makes any sense? This is also where I've decided to make my portrayal more uniquely my own, as I myself identify as non-binary. A small thread of connection between us while still maintaining much of what's already established [ I didn't change anything aside from that one detail; his canon sexuality remains, etc. ]. And it seemed perfectly fine/reasonable anyway.

Why do you ship Jude and Cardan?

Well, I love them mostly because of their individual character's growth as well as the shift/progress in their dynamic with each other.

I love that I didn't know going into the books that they were gonna be enemies or even why, and that when I did find out ‘why,’ how it all played out. I loved the tension between them in The Cruel Prince, I loved the undeniable attraction and care shown in The Wicked King, and I'm an absolute sucker for their communication (dialogue) and actions in the Queen of Nothing. It doesn't end there, of course. When I expected I couldn't love them any more than I already did, How The King of Elfhame Learned to Hate Stories gave me more, and I loved how Cardan's backstory added to his personality in the three main books, and how far him and Jude have come in their relationship (the trust and security). I love how they both initially worked for their interests (in tcp) and then achieved them (somewhat) together, as told in The Stolen Heir. I'm so excited for their scenes in The Prisoner's Throne now!

I was just wandering though... When you asked those questions, you meant in the present, all of them, right? For example, when you asked what type of partner he is, you meant in the present, not him actually in a relationship in the future. Because, as far as we know, he's single, so how he's behaving now with women is not how he may behave in the future in a relationship.

With The World + Knight of wands reversed: I also see this combination as in he wanting someone very successful (like someone he admires so much, even someone who may be more successful than him), a foreigner. But with the Knight of Wands reversed I see him longing for running after this person but at the same time feeling so intimidated by her! Haha Does it make sense?
