The Bunny Children

Some Accurate History: The bunny children were featured for the first time in the cartoon Poor Papa on June 11th, 1928. By then, Universal had already taken the rights to Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, so they were the Studio to release the cartoon. But Poor Papa cartoon was originally made in 1927 - it was actually the first Oswald cartoon made. 

So in summary, the Bunny Children debuted in 1928, but have been around since 1927.

So the Bunny Children; what happens to them, after Oswald is taken away to Universal? What happens to Ortensia? What happens to Mickey’s nephews (all 421 of them), after their father is taken away?

Well, in the Toon Life Ain’t That Great AU, Mickey is their primary caretaker, and bOY is he unprepared. That’s because Walt, who is covering up Oswald’s existence, tries to hide them too. 

That doesn’t go well and Mickey finds them and these children, they’re his nephews and they��ve just lost their parents, so Mickey decides he’s going to take care of them; he’s going to protect all of them, aLL Of thEM, with his life. He’s doing this because he wants to, and because he doesn’t want to fail Oswald.

So yes, prepare for lots and lots and LOTS of Uncle and nephew/nieces fluff and angst and family moments: because Mickey and the Bunny Children and Donald and Webby, Huey, Dewey, and Louie; they’re the ultimate worried for their children-not-children uncles.

10.  What do you wish you hated, but actually like?

I kinda wish I hated broccoli, because I can’t get it with any meal around my parents.  I’m glad they didn’t push for making us eat “gross” stuff as kids, but now as an adult, I love broccoli and can only eat it in restaurants on rare occasions.

Kinda a cop-out of an answer, but really, if I enjoy something, I’m not going to beat myself up over liking it.  That’s what the internet is for.

only if whatever I’m doing has steps, like making a cake!! I’m actually a pretty quiet person, and I could probably go a whole day without saying a word ( i wouldn’t want to, tho. I may be quiet but i do like to crack jokes and talk to my parents and friends!)

Toon Life Ain’t That Great AU

As you can see, me and @jswatson-holmes enjoy emotionally compromising our favorite characters. In this case, it’s Oswald and Mickey.

Oswald knows surprises; he’s delt with them an awful lot. And most of them are all awful; Oswald’s dealing with the loss of his heart and Walt’s abandonment of him (and his family.) And he’s trying really hard to not think about how he feels about that because well.. it’s shitty. He feels shitty. And so he aggressively dodges the things that (try to) make him feel that way.

And it’s obvious after Walt left Oswald to Mintz that they’re definitely not on the greatest terms. Far from it. Walt took Oswald’s heart, in the deliberate attempt to have him ‘fade away’ (read melt away), and even though Ub Iwerks saved him from that fate.. well, it’s not really a topic Oswald (the brothers in general, cause of the issues of heart sharing) talks about. **internally screaming** is a thing. And Mickey hears every single second of it. And promptly joins in, cause he’s got grievances too.

Mickey. Mickey, Mickey, Mickey; as mentioned in the pics, Mickey deals with these things a lot differently. He (and Oswald is always like why, why would you DO that!!#@$!!!) tries to confront his feelings. The success with that system is varied. Especially with Walt. Mick is not as close to Walt as many believe him to be and it’s because 1) Oswald’s reservations against him feed through the bond a lot and 2) Walt does not make it easy. Walt made Mickey to be Oswald’s replacement, and he also tried to ‘program’ him to be radically different from the rabbit. Well that fails. Mickey and Oswald are similar and different ((and don’t you forget it. They are not the same)) but it seems Walt can only see the similarities. And Disney hates that, and so he avoids it; he doesn’t want to think about Oswald. (guilt. Did I mention guilt. Failure. Did I mention failure) And Mickey makes him think a lot about Oswald. So then there’s rejection. And Walt’s trying to avoid that so...

Oodles of rejection and keeping the distance. And Mickey is deeply hurt by this. It isn’t his fault; he’s not the one to blame. And neither is Oswald. It’s Walt’s guilt that’s causing all of this.

So Mickey isn’t always happy. He doesn’t always feel good. Coupled with Walt’s rejection, there’s guilt about replacing his brother. He didn’t want to do that. But it’s still happened.

Oswald’s existence is also being covered up by Walt Disney, and Mickey hates that. Terrible enough he’s replaced his brother, but it’s despicable that no one even remembers him...

Last straw.

So Oswald and Mickey’s relationship to Walt Disney isn’t all that great.

Favorite Band: I don’t really have one. I have lots of different favorite songs by lots of different artists! I tend to like a lot of Fall Out Boy, Maroon 5, Panic! At the Disco, and Coldplay as far as bands go.

Song in my head: I doubt anyone knows it, but The Howling. It’s part of my marching band music this year and I just came from marching band. It’s from some rock musical about werewolves or something and it’s super cool! Give it a listen! I can’t find the original song, but it sounds really cool!

Last movie I watched: Ummm I think it was The Meg. I saw it with some friends a couple weeks ago. It was okay. Action movies really aren’t my thing but it wasn’t bad.

When did I create my account: Back in march! It feels like a really long time ago!

What do I post: A lot of Ducktales since that’s my current obsession! I also do Miraculous Ladybug, Steven Universe, Tangled the Series, Bh6 the Series, Svtfoe, Gravity Falls, Camp Camp, and OK KO. I do theories/analysises, AUs, fanfics, and (shitty) art. I also reblog a crap ton of stuff.

Do I have any other blogs: Well, I’m part of the Huey Week team. I also created this blog @headcanonsoftheduckverse a while ago, but I haven’t had the time to work with it at all.

Do I get asks: Uhh, I get writing prompt requests from time to time, but not much more than that. I would love more though! :P

Why did I choose my url: I’m a very analytical person, I love making theories and analysises. Amethyst is my birthstone, my favorite color, and one of my favorite SU characters. Plus it sounds nice :P
