Okay I’ve thought a lot about mynerva and I really think she should’ve been vycnents older sister. Something about the npc who takes him home being an elf he doesn’t even know felt so strange, and it really didn’t help that she came across as really cold and untrusting? Literally when they’re about to fight the lich at the END of the arc all three of them are like “…. Is mynerva the lich? Is she hiding something??” I don’t think that’s good when she’s supposed to be the helpful npc.

However I am aware of the “female character only important when she has a relation to a male character” problem and that’s probably a bias I probably have with this hc, like the idea that she can only be a sister and not just a woman with aspirations. But tbf in the campaign I don’t think she’s given a great personality, she wasn’t given a lot of lore or development, she’s not very complex (there’s always a chance bizly had a whole ton of stuff about her but the boys were doing too many bits to bother asking).

I think having her as vyncnets sister makes not only their initial confrontation more exciting, but also her goals and her journey more complex bc she’s a person with people in her life that she cares about, she can still be kinda grumpy and rude but she has aspirations and people she loves.

Also something about her being the eldest sibling but vyncents the one that got trained tons and she sort of had to sit by the side even though she clearly was more interested in fighting the lich than her brother was idk I think they should be siblings smile

Mynerva was described as having purple hair and tan skin. Since purple hair doesn’t actually seem to be the norm on Fauna, she probably had a distinctly and recognizably Virion look, especially from a distance. Especially to a guilt-wracked father in a chaotic situation where he sees a monster attacking someone who looks like his dead son and rushes in to sacrifice himself. Especially to a still-grieving mother late at night when she’s had a stressful day organizing the last survivors of her hometown and isn’t awake enough to remember that her entire family is dead when she goes to get a snack from the kitchen and someone with purple hair is already in there.

i thought at first they were gonna use mynvera too, with the way they were laughing about it!! i went 'oh no mynerva. or maybe henny? henny makes more sense, sadly.' and then it was henny and i was like 'yeah :('

he did not turn into a chicken, no 💀

the curse they transferred from vyncent's dad into henny was that of being the lich's phylactery. a phylactery is something that a lich stores their life force in so that destroying their body doesn't actually kill them. this means that in order to kill a lich, you have to destroy both their body and the life force inside their phylactery. a phylactery is typically an object, but it can also be a living thing.

this lich originally used a chest as his phylactery. the gang got concerned when they found that one chest in the library out in the open, opened up, and empty, because they knew that it was supposed to have his life force inside but didn't anymore.

before the fight, the lich revealed that he had made vyncent's dad his new phylactery. his plan was that whoever came to try to kill him from then on would have to kill vyncent's dad as well in order to destroy his life force, and they would struggle to go through with it. it almost didn't work out as planned, though, because the greats may well have just done it if they were there, and vyncent himself was ok with doing it. vyncent's dad got really lucky that william and dakota were there :')

unfortunately, the lich also got lucky that william and dakota were there, because thanks to their lack of knowledge about liches and their reluctance to kill henny (especially william's), the lich had time to regenerate after having had his body destroyed. letting henny continue to live for as long as they did meant letting the lich's life force remain intact, which gave him time to regenerate.

bro when you threw out the crack theory "vyncent's dad is the lich" i was like "CLOSE, ACTUALLY" 🤣

LMAAOO one of my main theories in my drafts was that his dad betrayed the greats to work with the lich and/or Become the lich for some kinda greater good or smth but of course i also thought mynerva was in on it somehow… i was So convinced she had a part in it you could not have convinced me otherwise until they were out of there ..sorry mynerva </3 but yeah i had a Feeling he might be alive and have smth to do with the lich because “yeah he died sadly here’s his grave right here to prove it 😔” is wayy too anticlimactic cmon

also when they were coming up with a plan to save vyncent’s dad by transferring the curse and they all got the same idea at the same time i 100% thought they were gonna put the curse in mynerva and that i was on the same page as them i never would’ve guessed the chicken 😭

messed up btw, the fact that the spell took 10 minutes and they were all so distraught was rlly sad actually. and charlie said something at the end like im taking henny thru the portal there has to be a way we have to bring this chicken back, which. idk if i should be concerned about or not. also is the lich just In Chicken Form now did i interpret that right when i watched this ep at 4 am bc i was so lost by the end. “the lich flies through the portal” like. in a scary way or a chicken way. lichicken is just In prime now .
