we fly together | kageyama tobio x reader
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/e8fddb9499bbec856bdf7a7fbd6b75d4/0ea4fef1e3555684-d4/s500x750/b3ca9d645a1bc60501a2f559b4c0565b26180a8a.jpg)
in which kageyama tobio is born for several things: the court, his team, and you. and he really, really wants to marry you.
wc: 766 | gn reader | little glimpses of your relationship with tobio over the years
There are several givens in Kageyama Tobio’s life.
There’s volleyball. It’s in his blood. Volleyball is shoes squeaking on floors, the shrill of a whistle, Nikuman after practice, and that sweet, sweet feeling of connection– fingers brushing yellow and blue leather and palms aching after a serve. Kageyama Tobio was born for the court and born to fly.
His team is one of them. There’s Sugawara, who still treats him to yakitori and an Asahi Dry (or three) whenever he’s back in Miyagi. Daichi sends him assorted nuts from Sendai every once in a while and Nishinoya mass e-mails him slightly blurry pictures of his life abroad on New Years. Ushijima buys electrolytes for him and Kourai. Shouyou is, well, Shouyou, and Kageyama counts him as two givens.
There’s the small things too: he takes a little too long to read Kanji, he buys a new face wash every month, he will always avoid rush hour.
And then, he thinks, there’s you.
It hits him in full force in the middle of the street on a Tuesday evening as he holds a plastic bag of groceries. It also, consequently, renders him immobile for ten minutes, because Tobio had never been one to dwell on the givens. But as he stands on the pavement and his bag carries the burden of hashi for two, yogurt for two, two packs of sandwiches and four bags of gummies,
( because you really like those gummies: and Tobio had thought, if you like the grape flavor, then you should also try the strawberry. And if you wanted to try something new, you might crave the fizzy Cola ones. And if you liked the Cola ones, then he had to buy the Ramune flavored ones, too )
Tobio gets the urge to buy a ring. And an urge, no, a craving to marry you.
Tobio remembers study sessions in high school and desperate makeouts in Karasuno’s dusty storage closet. He remembers the firsts: first conversation, first fight, first kiss, first date. Sprinting on beaches before the sun kissed the horizon and laying underneath the stars. He remembers graduation under cherry blossoms and pressing his second button into your palm with red cheeks and shaking hands.
There were tears, too. Anger as he realized he couldn’t, for once, be selfish and have both you and professional volleyball. Anger as you had cried and cried and cried in his arms because you were getting your degree in Miyagi and he was moving to Tokyo. Anger as you had suggested breaking things off because you knew that Kageyama was born for the court. To fly.
And you had said, between tears, that Tokyo was his potential. Because you knew him, and you knew that he didn’t like texting and that he wasn’t good at communicating, but you somehow underestimated how much you meant to him. Then: you had stopped crying because Kageyama was crying. And you had never seen Kageyama cry.
You were there when Kageyama started on the National Team, standing in the bleachers with the biggest smile he had ever seen, jumping as you turned to show him the Kageyama embroidered on the back of your jersey. You were there when he accepted his position on the Adlers, and watched their broadcasted games behind textbooks and journals and pencils from your dorm in Sendai.
Kageyama was there when you called him sobbing because the pipes in your dorm leaked. He was there when you got fired from your part time job for slapping a customer. Begrudgingly, he was there when you asked him to have Oikawa Tooru sign twelve jerseys for your friends at university. And then, he was there when you graduated college, diploma in hand and a blush on your cheeks as you pressed your button into his palm even though you really weren’t supposed to do that.
Now you’re in Tokyo, having accepted his slightly bashful request for you to move in with him– in a nice apartment on the fourteenth floor overlooking the city; because even though he didn’t really like heights, he knew you loved city lights and people-watching. And if he had to cover his face when he saw the nameplate next to your shared apartment that read Kageyama, well. You didn’t have to know that.
He’s still on the street, and he’s still holding his grocery bag, but his eyes are firm because he really wants to make your last name Kageyama.
So he makes a phone call.
“Tanaka-san,” He says before his former upperclassman can react. “Where did you buy Shimizu’s ring?”

serenely remembering the moment when isabel fall published "helicopter story" aka "i sexually identify as an attack helicopter", which instantiated harassment from her clouty new-wave scifi friends that radiated outwards into transmisogynist scifi normies and became so severe she wound up in inpatient. people took up the cause of the story in the name of "free artistic expression" and "speaking difficult truths", which was not incorrect but which was kind of missing the forest for the trees in that specific situation: the age-old game of "kill the baby trans girl out of professional jealousy, farm clout off of doing it". the roles could have been completely reversed - the transmisogynist acquaintances could have been writing edgy outsider lit and could have been encouraging mass harassment against her for being a tenderqueer sellout (i swear to god i have seen this shit too). effect would have been the same.
when trans women in FSF talk about this shit, they usually talk about it from the angles of "censorious tenderqueers tried to kill someone over a story" or, in the most sympathetic voice i've seen out of someone in journalism, "public pressure functionally forced this exciting trans writer back into the closet". but they generally miss the degree to which it was intimate, personal transmisogynist violence, which bled into and intersected with the logics of mob justice, of "community safety" (remember, part of the substance of the accusations was that she was a stealth nazi, which frankly knowing a little about both the accusers and IF herself I can say confidently was not just vacuous but knowingly vacuous, them lying through their teeth), and again, professional jealousy.
i have seen people who crowed the loudest about what got done to IF do it to other people. it's the easiest thing in the world, and it happens all the time, and you can do it whenever you want - try and have some weird tranny rival or inconvenient tranny ex-friend killed - and it engenders no moral stain, no whispers, no reputation. i think they don't even have a conception that they're hypocrites. why would they? nothing that happens to anyone like that is real. human life is cheap if it's in the wrong body. everything they hold is stolen, everything they are is negotiable, for everything they do someone else surely deserves the credit. why not you? don't you deserve it more?

College Major Headcanons:
[Extra content for The Homo Economicus in Love - noritoshi kamo x reader, cute college au]
Yuuji Itadori - Media Studies, on a full sports scholarship even though he's not too interested in sports. He doesn't show up to practice that much but carries the team in tournaments. Not really very academically inclined but everyone he meets loves him so much that he's gotten a shit ton of internships and work experience just cuz he's nice to work with. Stays on campus dorms.
Nobara Kugisaki - Fashion Merchandising (yay legally blonde). Another one who's not very academically inclined but does great at the practical aspects of the job. Gets 40% off on tuition, but has some funds from her grandma. also gets money from her fashion blog, part-time jobs at fashion mags, and manages clothing for photoshoots on a freelance basis (if she commits she commits). Saves on residence by renting with Inumaki and Panda.
Megumi Fushiguro - Computer Science with a minor in Math. Full scholarship and bursary grant by the college due to his shitty financial conditions (orphaned and destitute at a young age). Prof Gojo is his legal guardian. grew up in and stays on campus dorms.
Maki Zenin - Star Athlete, literally training for the Olympics. Her degree is in Mass Communications but she doesn't actually have to attend classes cuz the Uni wants her to focus on sports. Disowned by her family. Full sports scholarship and occasionally gets sponsored by sportswear companies. Trying to go pro.
Yuuta Okkotsu - Sociology and Anthropolgy. He enjoys talking to and meeting people and works as a part-time Journalist for local news channels to bring attention to issues like poverty. Gets a bursary grant from the uni, gets paid for and is decently recognized for his journalism work. Both Geto and Gojo want to mentor him. He talks to himself when he's alone but that's a secret.
Toge Inumaki - Architectural Design, chose this degree just for the hell of it, is a solid B+ student. Has a YouTube gaming and ASMR channel with 200k followers but is struggling to monetize it profitably. Got in on legacy admissions but gets a sports scholarship of 30% (he's pretty good at athletics)
Panda - ???
Noritoshi Kamo - Economics and Finance, specializing in Private Equity and Investment Banking. he's the heir of the Kamo Conglomerate. Full legacy admission even though he graduated valedictorian of high school and is the captain of the Archery team.
Todo Aoi - Quantum Physics. he's literally the top student of every class he takes. he keeps taking random other classes from different majors based on his whims. his genius was recognised and personally mentored by Yuki Tsukumo, but is now undergoing formal college education for the certificate even though he already knows all this and more. he spends half the day in the gym and the other half streaming Takada-chan variety clips.
Mai Zenin - Economics and Finance, her family made her take it. good at academics even though she's not super into it. legacy admission.
Momo Nishimiya - Literature and Creative Writing. She posts regularly for a gender and sexuality magazine. loves nobara's blog.
Miwa Kasumi - Computer Science with a minor in Software Engineering. She just wanted a degree that would lead to a well-paying job. Cabinet Member of the Student Council. She vouched a lot for Mechamaru/Kokichi to get disability-friendly accommodation. she struggles a bit with academics but pulls through with A- all around. Kokichi/Mechamaru helps her if she finds something particularly difficult to understand. has her own campus residence but has practically moved in with Kokichi.
Arata Nitta - Health and Medicine, focusing on Emergency Care Medicine. he TAs for Prof Shoko's classes. his sister works in college admin office. has campus residence but mostly stays in the college affilitated hospital, bit of an over-worker.
Mechamaru/ Kokichi Muta - double major in Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering. Another top student of his classes. Found it a bit difficult to adjust to campus life at first (not enough disability accommodation) but with Miwa's help he got around. campus dorm with Miwa.
Professors!
Gojo Satoru - graduated from top Ivy colleges, has 5 PhDs, and wrote 1000 papers and books, and is the one of the most respected physicist in the world but insists on teaching Intro-level Physics and Math. drives a Bugatti to college. highly competitive relative grading. prescribes his own books for his class. expect a problem set every day after class. gives a lot of individual attention to students tho, n is very nice in general. he'll accept a late submission if u bring him sweets. his lockscreen is prof geto?
Geto Suguru - teaches one class named Ethics, Philosophy and Law every semester. doesn't answer questions over email, only during Office Hours. great at explaining difficult concepts, his course is the one students fight to get into and say "opened their eyes". has a devoted cult of worshipping students, voted student favorite every year. his adopted daughters took a gap year to travel abroad and he talks about them in class. he always has sweets in his pockets?
Utahime Iori - teaches modules on Economics, Politics and Philosophy courses. great teacher, very clear explanations, bumps up the grading slightly (absolute grading) and is very accommodating as a prof. hates getting emails at night tho.
Shoko Ieiri - Shitty ass prof tbh but everyone takes her class cuz she gives everyone an A. teaches Surgical Anatomy. focuses on practical experience rather than theory. she has a no attendance policy and takes few very exams or assignments.
Yuki Tsukomo - Visiting Faculty, takes one super high level class Quantum Physical Theory one semester and comes back after 4 years. Independent researcher funded by the uni.

🎸 meet CURSED TECHNIQUE !
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/68af77724521236b6a9e863f5f0b1e2a/c14f816ba6f0aafd-86/s540x810/09345b91365d3024250a4c7f921febb4f1f349b2.jpg)
four of the five members of cursed technique had been messing around playing small gigs together for years before nobara showed up. she was the last piece of the puzzle, exactly what they needed to lead their indie rock stage presence, and now they’re going into their first battle of the bands strong. they’ve also got a house off campus, just down the street from ino’s, which was intentional on nobara’s part because she’s good friends with yuji and megumi.
nobara kugisaki, LEAD VOCALS & GUITAR
she might be the youngest member of the band as a sophomore, but she commands the stage. she’s studying marketing and will probably use the degree to go into fashion or music communications. she’d really like a career where she gets to look hot and boss people around.
yuta okkotsu, GUITAR
a senior international relations major, yuta always knows what’s going on in the world—just like he always knows what’s going on in the house and in the band. unless he and toge are in the middle of some shenanigan, he and maki are usually the responsible ones.
toge inumaki, KEYS
toge is a junior communications major who loves three things: his keyboard, rice bowls, and causing mass chaos. he has a habit of coming into your room and just making himself at home on the rug, whether you’re home or not.
maki zenin, BASS
maki is a senior anthropology major who was thrilled to get away from her family for college. you’re pretty sure she’s never turned in an assignment late, and she’s even more dedicated to her friends than she is to her work, which is saying something.
you, DRUMS
you’re a junior who chose jujutsu university because of its journalism program (and because you wanted to go somewhere crazy for college, not somewhere a half-hour drive from your childhood home). you and your bandmates are ride or die. during one of your first jam sessions, pre-nobara, you asked who would be who if the band were the penguins of madagascar. maki was kowalski. toge was rico. yuta was private. you were skipper. most people don’t even remember how the nickname came about, just that it stuck.

Word count: 2k
It is a snowy Saturday in New York which is perfect for a coffee hangout with friends drinking overpriced hot chocolate or reading a clichè romance book by the fireplace at home but do you know where I am? I am situated in a hospital room, worrying my ass off for my dear uncle Paul.
"Uncle, I hope you get better soon" I was holding his hand. If something happens to him, I would completely lose it. He is the closest family I have after my mother.
He apparently got into an accident earlier and for everybody's surprise, that accident didn't happen in WWE - the place that can literally end you in the hospital especially for a talker like my uncle. But no, it wasn't there. He may have broken his leg in his very own house while he was trying to fix his lightbulb.
Yeah, I know this sounds very dumb but sometimes the dumbest things lead us to accidents.
"Don't worry, Sophia. I'm going to be fine." he assured me with a little nod.
"So Mr. Heyman" the doctor entered in the room. A medium tall man with very short grey-white hair and beard. He was holding an X-ray.
"You see this?" he showed it to me and uncle. I see an X-ray. My mom would be more familiar with this. "I don't know how you fell down but this a serious injury. You will need a lot of rest and time for recovery."
"Yeah, okay. I understand" uncle gave one of his light smiles.
"That means no work" the doctor specified.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Johnson" oh no. Here he goes. The ultimate talker himself, Paul Heyman. "I am the special council for your Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns and he has to prepare for a very important match for the Royal Rumble which is a fatal 4-way match by the way which in case you don't know, it means he has to fight three men at the same time, so he can defend his Undisputed WWE championship and then he has to prepare for Wrestlemania 40." I'm sure the doctor understood close to nothing from what was said. I know uncle gets crazy during Wrestlemania season and now he will get even crazier that he won't be able to work.
"Uncle" I sighed and rolled my eyes. He loves his job. He has always loved his job but he is way too dedicated and that's why he got so far, of course. He is amazing at what he does. I watch his stuff from time to time. I know all of his guys and I know that Roman Reigns is a big deal.
The doctor had the typical look of confusion, probably thinking my uncle is crazy which he is. He is a crazy man indeed but I still love him. He has helped me a lot throughout the years.
Especially after my father died from overdose almost 9 years ago. I was just 18 years old when this happened and uncle still hasn't forgiven his own brother for doing this to me, his only daughter, and my mother who is a very successful surgeon, by the way.
Uncle was the only one who supported me when I said I wanted to major in journalism in Julliard because I think I got that orator skills from him. My mother, of course, wasn't supportive since she wanted me to become a doctor. I mean are we surprised?
But I knew I ain't made for the hospital rooms. I am made for talking. I was born with a big mouth and have talked smack since forever.
After I finished my master's degree program in Mass Communication in Julliard I started an internship in Brooklyn Magazine where I write articles. The editor in chief likes them and she said she sees a high potential in me.
"If you want to recover sooner, Mr. Heyman, you have to stay at home and take a rest. Your wife can take care of you-
"I'm divorced" uncle interrupted him.
"I will take care of you, uncle. No problem." I said immediately.
"No." he just shook his head. Who is gonna take care of him then? My cousins are in college and I'm working a full time job.
"Look, I can ask my boss for less hours work" I tried to persuade him.
"No" he shook this head, saying with the exact same tone as earlier. I see the spark in his eyes. The same spark when he comes up with something.
"I can always hire a lady to take care of me but you, my dear niece, will take my spot temporarily in WWE as a special council for the Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns".
I furrowed my eyebrows so hard that I bet, an enormous wrinkle appeared on my forehead.
"What? Why?"
"This is going to be perfect for your resumè, Sophia. Trust me. Think about this." he seemed absolutely certain.
"Uncle, I want to be a JOURNALIST. To sit around in the studio for the morning shows, wearing my cute little costumes that I'm going to buy with my own money and interviewing politicians, celebrities and all the crazy, pretentious people that come to your mind. I don't wanna be stuck in a wrestling federation interviewing some big ass sweaty men and asking them things like 'So what are you gonna do to your opponent tonight?'. No. That's not my dream. See, the boss told me she sees a big potential in me because of my skills and face card. How am I supposed to leave?"
I just dropped my dramatic monologue about my dreams. And I didn't lie. This is how I've been imagining myself my whole life.
Uncle didn't seemed deeply fazed by this monologue. Indeed, he softened a bit but he still had the look in his eyes, the exact look that he knows he has something against me.
"Okay. Alright, Sophia. Whatever you say. I get your point. I'm not going to force you but didn't you say you want to take care of me?" I see where the things are going right now.
"Yes but that's-" he didn't even let me finish my point because he knows another monologue is coming. We rarely argue but boy, when we do, things get crazy.
"Taking my place temporarily in WWE is the best way you can help me and yourself as well. It's a win-win situation." he flashed one of his cute little innocent smiles but he knows very well he ended me with using my phrase and the "help" part.
I just pressed my lips, closed my eyes in defeat and took a deep sigh.
"Also don't make me mention the fact that you are always going to travel around the country and even the world and if you get your dream job in CNN or GMA or like you called them "morning shows", you aren't gonna travel much, for the record. You are going to be stuck in the same thing over and over again but in WWE you have the variety of experiences and you are going to see for yourself. Also WWE is the best place you can get recognition which will lead to big opportunities beyond your imagination."
And with this statement uncle just solidified himself even more as the righteous one. The part about opportunities may be no lie.
"Plus, in WWE you can wear your "cute little suits" as you referred. Allow me to send you some money and buy yourself something" he took out his phone and transferred me some money.
"Okay, uncle. I got your point already. Alright. I'm going to be your replacement...temporary." I specified.
"Temporary, of course. I would never let you take my job, Sophia. As much as I love you, you know the grip it has on me."
"I am fully aware" I chuckled and rolled my eyes.
"You will see how easy it is to work with Roman Reigns." Uncle seemed weirdly excited.
"That Aquaman ass guy? He ain't giving me those vibes but whatever you say, I guess. You know him better than me." I shrugged. Uncle always talks in superlatives when it comes to Roman Reigns. He ain't even talking about me and my cousins like that, so we get lowkey jealous.
"I want you to behave in front of him, okay? And Jey and Jimmy too. Save the smack talk for the rest of the roster." he knows how dangerous I can get when I start talking.
"Got it, uncle" I rolled my eyes for the millionth time today. We will see how these guys are going to treat me and I will decide how to behave. But from what uncle has told me they seem like great men but at the end of the day, I'm going to be the judge of that.
"Alright. Now I'm gonna make a few calls. I am going to call Roman, Hunter and even your boss if you want to. Then I'm going to tell you all about work.
"I'm gonna tell my boss, don't worry about that." I assured him.
...
"So tomorrow you have a meeting with Triple H aka Paul Levesque aka your temporary boss and after that Roman will show you around the building and everything. He may even add some stories for the business from his point of view. Agh." uncle sighed and had a big grin on his face. "He is an amazing man, Sophia. The biggest single star in the whole sports entertainment. If someday you bring me a nephew in law, I wish him to be as Roman - successful, strong, loyal and dedicated."
"Chill, uncle. You ain't at work right now." I couldn't help but laugh at him.
Honestly right now, I don't want any man. Two months ago I ended my relationship with Robert Mayer. We graduated at the same university but he was from the Law Department. Does a laywer and journalist sound like a great match?
That's what I thought.
"Dad, how are you?" my cousins flashed in the room. They are a few years younger than me and they are so cute, honestly. We exchanged a hug.
"I am gonna be okay, kids" uncle couldn't help but smile at them. "As long as I have you three, I am always going to be okay."
"We told mom about this". Jason said.
"Why? What have I told you? You don't tell your mother anything about me". He scolded my cousins. Uncle can't really stand aunt.
"Don't worry, she is not coming". Amanda assured him. She looks exactly like aunt when she was young, though. Blonde hair and brown eyes. She looks nothing like uncle but his son does. He just has hair...still.
I got the blue eyes from my father and uncle and the blonde hair from mom since she is also a natural blondie but a very skilled surgeon.
Somebody entered in the room as well. That must be aunt. I haven't seen her in ages but I couldn't mistake her.
"What did you do, Paul?" she scolded him. They still have that "married couple attitude" although they have been divorced for so long and as much uncle claims that he cannot stand her, I know it's not completely true. She is the mother of his kids after all.
"Oh Lord, please save me" uncle started baptising and looking up at the ceiling.
"Chill your dramatic ass down and let me see what have you done" she went to him and smiled at me mouthing "Hi", I did as well.
I waved at my cousins and uncle goodbye because I intend to leave them alone.
"No, Sophia. Don't leave me" he begged.
"I have to prepare for tomorrow, remember? It's a big day" I replied while walking to the door. "I'm going to contact you tomorrow and make sure to keep me updated of your condition" these were my last words before I exited the room and dialed my boss' number.

3 female MRA's from India
I first saw their names on the men's right reddit page and searched up some info about them
Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj:
Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj is an Indian Journalist, Documentary Filmmaker & a Men's Rights Activist from Gurgaon, Haryana. In times when everyone's emphatically talking about women's rights, Deepika makes a strong case for protection of rights of men too whether it's false accusations or domestic violence or sexual crimes perpetrated upon them. Her documentary films focus on gender politics as it intersects with laws, justice, culture, society, and institutions and explores often ignored side of gender issues from a new perspective. Her films are particularly known for ground research, facts & statistics elaborated in depth. In 2010, she was selected as one of the ten journalists from around the world to attend "Future Media Leaders Course" By Thomson Foundation UK. She's a woman trying to create a world where there is no gender war and all genders empathize with each other's struggles & sufferings.
Arnaz Hathiram:
She is the founder of the website called Voice for Men India
Voice for Men is an earnest effort to appreciate men as one of the genders that are equally important to society. Your online mag will ensure its best to curate relevant articles, information, interviews as well as judicial verdicts that could be significant in the journey of 'His Story.' The platform also brings together the energies of several on-ground Men's Rights Activists in India who have been struggling for gender equilibrium in civilisation as a whole. About the founder: Arnaz Hathiram has been an active member of the Men's Rights Movement and has also represented the delegation that organised a seminar demanding a commission for men in India in September in 2018. She holds a Master's degree in Journalism and Mass Communications with a specialization in social media. With near two-decade long professional industry experience, our founder is an effective advocate of the cause and drives messages to the masses using creative communication. Having worked with several online media portals, she had rich experience in curating and cultivating relevant content from the web, designing newsletters and running campaigns
There's also info on how to reach her on social media as well as an email if you need to reach her for legal matters or content.
On the website, there's different categories from alimony to murder to in the law to suicide to success stories and more.
And finally, we have Monica Garkhel who is a lawyer
Together let’s build a system where all genders can co-exist peacefully!! Hi, I am Monica Garkhel, a gender equality crusader. In India, many laws exist for the protection of women, but no one cares about the pressure that a man handles and that is the reason why no laws are made in favour of men. Many women nowadays take support of modern legal India and file false cases against their male partners. Family laws exist in our country but women believe that those laws are only made for them. Men always have a fear of defamation in society and due to this fear, they are unable to put forward their part of the story. Women in India have got a tool, that is called feminism and they can play a feminist card very easily nowadays. Most of the women who torture a man mentally are the advocates of feminism only. With laws being made to protect women, our judiciary system has become biased. We all talk and hear a lot about women’s rights. Whereas in all this chaos men’s rights often go unnoticed and unheard. With laws like IPC 498A, PWDVA 2005 Domestic Violence, 125CrPC Maintenance, IPC 375 Gang Rape, IPC 376 False Rape, and many others because of which innocent men and their families are being suffered.
If a woman lodges a complaint against her man, then the police will quickly issue an arrest warrant against the man and in some cases, they don’t even ask for evidence. If the same case is put-up in front of the police by a man, then they will not even take the case seriously in India. First of all, only a few men put up such cases in front of the police because most men don’t even show that they are being harassed due to the social stigma, i.e., “Men are meant to be stronger”. Here, we will provide you the knowledge about the rights of a man, from which Indian men are unaware until today. Our website will tell you about how women pressurize men by taking legal action against them and by trapping them in false cases. I am here to bring awareness about men’s rights, Counsel either gender, raise my voice against this unjust and inhuman system, and offer my Legal advice and support if you are fighting a legal battle.

Excerpt from this story from Smithsonian Magazine:
The Juneau Icefield, which extends for some 1,500 square miles from northwest British Columbia, Canada, into southeast Alaska, is composed of more than 1,000 glaciers, and it has been for millennia. But now, perhaps more than ever, the landscape’s longevity is in question.
A new study published Tuesday in the journal Nature Communications highlights the icefield’s unprecedented and accelerating melting. Its snow-covered area is shrinking 4.6 times faster than it was prior to the 1980s, researchers say—and between 2010 and 2020, it lost roughly 1.4 cubic miles of ice per year. Now, meltwater is flowing from the icefield at 50,000 gallons per second, reports Seth Borenstein of theAssociated Press(AP).
Amid human-caused climate change, driven largely by carbon dioxide emissions from burning fossil fuels, the Arctic is warming nearly four times faster than anywhere else in the world. Alaska itself has seen the average temperature increase 2.6 degrees Fahrenheit since 1980.
“If we reduce carbon, then we have more hope of retaining these wonderful ice masses,” Bethan Davies, a glaciologist at Newcastle University and lead author of the study, tells theNew York Times’Raymond Zhong. “The more carbon we put in, the more we risk irreversible, complete removal of them.”

want to preface that this is more of a journaling situation that me making a statement about anything at all so please don't take it that way if you read it
religious ocd & questioning rambling below the cut. Also, please donate to the Palestinian gofundmes I've reblogged, or reblog them yourself if you can't.
so like i have no idea how many of you know me from my last blog, quite a few of you i'm sure, but for those of you who don't, the Lore is that I had a very very traumatising bout of religious ocd when I was like 16/17 that got me diagnosed and made me Sort Of Want to Kill Myself because I forced myself to be a Perfect Catholic for like a year. Including the not being gay bit. anyway to get myself out of it I just did a DIY religious studies degree, learning about every religion I could think of to find a way out-- I was never totally happy being catholic tbc. the first time I can remember feeling awe for a religion was when my school taught us about Islam when I was 12, spent years wishing I'd been born Muslim. Anyhow I went through a long while considering paganism-- Norse and Hellenic-- and then Islam again, and then decided to try to learn about Judaism since I had never learned anything much about it, and I fell so deeply in love with it that I genuinely think it both saved my life and my religiosity. I wouldn't be religious now or healthy now if it weren't for Judaism. I've talked to rabbis briefly and gone back and forth and chosen Hebrew names and gone through cycles and cycles of deciding to convert and backing out etc etc. I'm still Catholic now, five years on, and I do think my personal religion, my personal worldview, whatever, is informed by my being Latine, and by paganism, and in some ways by Islam, but the framework, bedrock, etc-- it *is* Judaism. I've been, lately, growing far more attached to my Catholicism, but it will never be a perfect or full Catholicism. The Church has done unspeakable harm; to me, personally, to my ancestors, is doing harm now-- I am beyond glad that the Church has taken a staunch stance against genocide, but it is impossible to forget that they once committed many, some against my own people. It's hard to forget how easily my love for myself and my faith splinters under the pressure of the company of those I am meant to share this faith with. I have found beautiful community with other religious people of colour and religious lgbt people, but that is never what I have experienced in church irl. Irl, church almost ruined me. It doesn't even matter to me anymore, really. G-d is bigger than that; I don't need anything other than Them and the people I love, and a quiet church to go to when I can. I'd like to get to a place where I can go to Mass without wanting to dissociate but that isn't what is missing. Something will always be missing, because the truth of the matter is that I was born to be no singular thing. Various polytheistic deities have visited my dreams, I read tarot, my mother saw ghosts, I am gay, I would have preferred to have been born a man. I'd like to go to Mass, but I'm never going to fully belong there, or even fully want it as much as I've wanted to be Jewish, which itself feels impossible, but I'm glad to want it-- or have wanted it-- if that makes sense. Wanting that has made me better. Made the rest of it worth it, even if I'm not sure I want it anymore.
It's winter now and G-d feels very close and the only name I have for what I am is Catholic because what else is there. That would be a lot to walk away from, I'm not sure there's anyone who would want to receive me were I to walk toward something else, so that's where I am now. All of this-- it kind of got away from me-- was really to say that the nativity is beautiful, but it feels empty, somehow. I'm glad it's happening, but something essential is rotting in the world, maybe? I don't know. I spent years and years and years refusing to do anything other than love the world, stubbornly, spitefully, and i do love the world but I do think I lost something somewhere over the last two years. Something splintered. The rot's always been there, I guess. I knew that; I'm a result of it. It stains me and my family and my homeland. I once saw someone say that we have always lived in the post-apocalypse which I think is what I have been feeling lately. All is aftermath. It could have been beautiful here, and sometimes it still is. Sometimes I could cry when the air is cold and I'm clean and everything is so quiet, I could cry or sing or just be so still and at peace with just how much I love life, and everyone, and everything. So like, I know it's worth it. I know the beauty will continue. I do think it's important, though, as the year comes to a close, to reckon with everything that's been lost, everything we've never had, everything that hurts.
Anyway, I don't know. None of this is about me. I'm listening to Visions of Gideon, it's December, G-d is rattling in the air with the wind. What else is there to do but think

bio under the cut
Han Young-Ji was born in Duluth, Georgia to James Han and Kim Da-Som. She was a very active girl since she was a child, and when she began to show interest in martial arts, her parents agreed to allow her to go to South Korea, where she would study under her aunt, Kim Da-Eun.
Under her aunt and great-grandfather’s tutelage, Young-Ji became an exceptional fighter. When she was seventeen, her dojo made it to the sekai taikai. Young-Ji herself made it all the way to the captain’s battle, but failed to snatch the victory after her opponent “accidentally” broke her arm on the mat.
Faced with shaming the family and their dojo, there were no complaints when Young-Ji returned to the states after the tournament, finishing high school and enrolling in college. That was where she opted to start going by her english name, Charlotte (or Charlie, rather), as a way to distance herself from her family’s dojo.
Karate and tang su do were always a big part of her life, however, and she found herself working as a sensei on the side, though her main career was as a column writer for a newspaper in new york.
Her freedom from her family, however, was short lived. Joining her aunt and her associate, john kreese, in their war against another dojo was the last thing she wanted, but her aunt and great grandfather knew exactly how to twist her arm.
And so, charlie joined in training the newly minted Cobra Kai dojo in preparation for the sekai taikai, which she accompanied the team for. Now back in the place where her career in karate derailed, she finds herself struggling to stay loyal to her family.
PERSONALITY
While her demeanor is generally bright, if not a little absentminded, her personality changes completely when she’s in a fight/match. When in a match, she becomes very stoic and every move is carefully calculated.
In general, charlie is empathetic to a fault. She has a tendency to be too trusting, and tends to always look for the good in people.
