another update: my coach has finally found an anime that is "just like Naruto". He's now watching My Hero Academia, and apparently, I have no choice but to watch it too bc he has nobody to discuss it with. (I'm watching season 2 now and it IS just like Naruto 😅 oh shonen..)

My other friend is watching the Ame orphans origin episodes, and her literal feedback was "i'm in the process of learning what Pain is" 🥲

so I've managed to make three 35+ year-olds watch Naruto, hoping they would join my obkk obsession. BUT, one turned into an Itachi fan and Kaguya supporter, the other is now into Boruto series, and my most recent recruit is falling for Shikamaru and Temari. (well, at least those friends who'd watched Nart in middle school think Kakashi's cool, so i guess it's something) Aaah, irl people just don't get it xD

🍓 What’s a fic you’ve written you feel is underrated?

Probably Lotus Eater! It's not a popular pairing so I'm not surprised over it, but I'm still proud of the way it turned out.

🍒 What’s your favorite character dynamic to write? (Can be romantic or platonic, specific or general!)

Oh, man, idk. I love a kind of enemies-to-lovers pipeline but also like... with ShiObi or Kkob or even kkita, younger guy simping for older guy they think they'll never have. And then one of them disappears for years and it makes the reunion sweeter in the end.

🍍 What kind of AUs do you like? Are there any AUs you hate or just generally have beef with?

Canon-divergent, my beloved.... I prefer reading fics set in the nart universe, for sure. However writing modern aus or just weird aus is so much fun?? I just dont read them often.

SHISUI, hands down!! I love the idea that, because his father was canonically disabled when Shisui was very young, Obito helped Shisui learn to fend/provide for himself (Because Obito was known to take care of elders, its not a stretch to say he tried to help the disabled, too). And, because Obito was the first to show Shisui some mercy, Shisui took to following him around like a lil duckling, looking up to him. I also repeatedly used the idea that Kushina was his Jounin instructor. It's fun to give him a base knowledge of how seals work!

On the subject of Nart and scaling, I honestly dislike it when the story throws out these huge inflated numbers just to make a character seem cooler because then you start to lose a sense of appropriate scale. I suppose it's why I dislike the 'Kakashi took out 50 jounins with a frying pan!!!' Because it makes it seem a little ridiculous? So he's SOOO much more powerful than 50 high ranked ninja and somehow they can't rub enough brain cells together to take him out? Sometimes less is more impactful is what I'm saying.

flashy weapons, flashy moves. has to be the best at everything, so you know he’s always training his taijutsu. saw rock lee fight ONCE and knew he couldn’t let his guard down just because he’s got a bloodline jutsu. SMART MAN.

11. How would you wear your headband?

r: I wanna say on my forehead like a proper ninja but I actually have very frequent headaches/migraines and having something on my head (sometimes even my hair) fucking kills me when I get like that so... I'm gonna go with either on my arm like Shika or my waist because fashion icon.

35. What ninja occupation would you choose?

r: To give a cool an edgy answer: ANBU. lol. I wouldn't like teaching/being responsible for clueless kids like Nart or edgy emo lords like Sauce so I think as soon as I made it to jounin I'd be like "yoo please let me innn". HOWEVER. To be quite honest if I was just magically teleported to the Naruto World, I'd probably work to be an iryo-nin because I have some chronic diseases/issues I'd like to get rid off lol Also, I did consider medicine for quite some time and am not entirely convinced I won't just decide to do it later on in life so... xD

Tenten training Himawari

I said this in the tags of a post BUT here's the full thing bc I have THOUGHTS

Tenten should train Himawari Uzumaki.

She is probably the one (non-Hyuuga) person in the village who has had the most experience dealing with the Hyuuga techniques. With Neji on her team, she's sparred against them, fought alongside them, and worked through its limitations. She knows better than anyone else how to make the gentle fist work to its highest potential.

The other contenders to train Hima would be Lee, Hanabi, and a random Hyuuga, but let's be real here. Lee seems content as he is, Hanabi hasn't shown interest in becoming a sensei (and I doubt the Hyuugas would let their heir take such a dangerous position), and it would be awkward to introduce a random character when we already have so many regular ones lying around. Besides, Tenten is the only one who could really help both Hima and her teammates learn how to use and avoid the gentle fist. She knows the best combos, the best tactics. She knows enough about the clan's politics to deal with them should it be necessary. She has the perfect mix of general and specific knowledge to help everyone on her squad, not just Hima.

Tenten was Neji's sparring partner, and one of his closest confidants. She was there to help him prepare for the first chunin exams, then pass the second. She was there with him through his curse mark reveal, his reconciliation (?) with Hiashi, his growth after being beat, Gai and Lee's antics, his promotion to jounin, his reconciliation with Hinata. She spent years by his side. All of it spent training and sparring and working relentlessly. She knows her stuff.

So how poetic, how beautiful would it be for Tenten to take in Himawari Hyuuga, the girl who literally jyuukened the shit out of good ole Nart with only basic training at the age of seven? Who, with one hit, drained him of chakra so intensely that even Kurama was impacted? A prodigy, just like Neji? How right would it be for Tenten to guide this young girl, the picture of what her best friend would've been with kinder circumstances, to become the best shinobi she can be?

Itachi and Naruto?

Like shipping them? I would but like 22 year old jounin sensei naruto and 27/28 year old leaf police chief itachi, with lots of police lieutenant sasuke glaring at both of them in the background bc “wtf stop flirting with my brother, wtf stop flirting with my best friend, I hate everyone”. In a world where the massacre never happened and everyone’s alive, I could totally see Nart having a puppy crush on itachi through his teenage years tho

          i, like most of the general fandom, am also upset and frustrated with how kishi treated the women of nart after it was all said and done. 

          but don’t misunderstand, there’s nothing wrong with aspiring to be a housewife. that’s a legit job and a good one, good moms are not a dime a dozen and if someone wanted to be the best mother they could be that’s awesome, more power to them. but sakura and hinata didn’t have that initial goal/dream? they never did. throughout the entire series they never proclaimed their nindo was ‘become a housewife’ it just felt so out of place? in nart culture it seems ‘traditional’ for the women to stay home and take care of the kids because ninja lives are dangerous and never guaranteed but still it’s??? not fair???? hinata has so much power and potential and she should have been a shining beacon of change in her clan and become the clan leader. sakura was (still is?) the best medical ninja to ever grace the world and could have made some pretty incredible strides in medical jutsus and i mean who’s to say the two couldn’t have become jounin team leaders themselves? ON TOP OF raising a family? its insulting to think they are only capable of one task and thats living at home and putting their own dreams aside. 

          ntm can we stop that stupid fucking trope of ‘scary wives who beat the crap out of their husbands and kids’ ??? please???? thanks for coming to my ted talk.

oh nooo i like both of these ideas....... i’m not sure if kiba would be a good sensei though tbh as much as i like him he’s pretty impulsive but at the same time if the world’s loudest, dumbest ninja (nart) can be ninja president, why can’t kiba be a jounin sensei??

Nart Watch S1 E6

- A Dangerous Mission! Journey to the Land of the Waves! Alright so they’ve been doing boring baby missions so far. Now they’re finaly getting their first serious mission. Escorting a guy to a bridge so he can fix it. But then it turns out more dangerous than it’s meant to. AKA the episode where Naruto as a series starts to get kinda serious

- Oh yeah they have walkie-talkies and everything. Microphones. They have TVs don’t they? And phones. I can’t recall any cell phones. 

- The wife of the land of fire’s daimyo/feudal lord Madame Shijimi and Tora the cat. So I guess the land has a feudal lord? More research needed

- Okay so according to the wiki, daimyo are in charge of the political doings of their hidden villages. They handle the budget and ultimately select the kage of their nation. If the hokage dies, the position temporarily goes to the daimyo. They send shinobi out but rarely dirty their own hands. 

- There are council members to, and a chief council. They even get a mission to baby sit the chief councilor’s kid. So these aren’t ninja, yeah? They’re civilians? Or does it not matter?

- Naruto is sick and tired of getting baby missions. So is Sasuke! I think Sakura sees it as proper training. Kakashi figured they were going to get like this soon. Iruka says everyone needs to gain experience from simple missions. 

- Missions range from babysitting to assassinations. They’re ranked D, C, B, and A, with D as the easiest and A as the toughest or most important. There are jounin, chunin, and genin beneath the hokage. Jounin get A, Chuunin get B and C, Genin get D and C. They go up in price depending on the ranking. The money from the client comes in, and the team gets a share from it. 

- Naruto says he’s matured, but he grumps and pouts on the floor like a kid

- “The smallest one with the idiot face” “Haha who’s the small one!” they all line up to show that yeah naruto is the shortest here.

- Tazuna, a bridge builder! A grumpy old man and a drunk

- This is Naruto’s first time outside the gate! Well that makes sense. 

- It’s cute that Kakashi keeps holding Naruto back by the collar or backpack 

- No ninja in the land of the waves. But there are ninja in other villages. The number and ability of shinobi shows off a country’s strength.  It’s how nations maintain relationships with neighboring nations. But the villages aren’t in control of them, they’re equal in rank. There’s no need for shinobi in the land of waves, an island region that’s hard to reach. 

- There’s fire, water, lightning, wind, and earth nations. The Five Great Nations. Konoha is in the fire nation, hidden mist village is in land of water, cloud village in lightning, sand in winds, and rocks in earth. Only these great nations have a kage. They reign over thousands of ninja in their nation. 

- Yeee Kakashi patting Sakura on the head. Super cute

- Sasuke notices that Tazuna is nervous. He always was most perceptive 

- Some foes appear! They apparently tear Kakashi apart. But of course they don’t. They target Naruto, and Saske takes them ot with shuriken and kunai to stop their chains. Kicks their butt easily. Even Naruto has to call him cool. Sakura stands with a kuunai and Sasuke has to block her. 

- Sasuke do your arms hurt from carrying this team? 

- Of course Kakashi is fine and takes them down. Sakura and Naruto are really happy at least. Sasuke is not surprised and calls him a show off. 

- How did Sakura do well? I guess she did stand her ground. Saske wasn’t scared at all of his first real battle. I mean he’s a bit of a death seeker so

- “Were you hurt, bibi-kun?” fuhahaha

- This is a B rank mission, not C! Whoda thunk. Which would have been expensive

- Naruto still stabs his hand to remove the poison like a hard bitch, A+ 

- It’s cute how hard he really is trying. He works out all the time and reads scrolls constantly and meditates. He does not want to be a loser, or lose to Sasuke especially! He’s not a cowardous person. Everyone’s at least a little impressed. And of course his hand is already healing, just like a jinchuuriki. 

- Chunin ninja from the mist village. Do we ever get their names? 

- We get a brief glimpse of Zabuza Momochi, demon of the hidden mist
