1.06 Mombie Dearest
It’s giving Sky (TM).
Josie starts off the episode in this Ted Baker London sky-blue ribbed sweater. It has a sewn-in white scalloped collar and white cuffs, and hanging white fabric at the bottom that gives off the illusion of being a full undershirt. It’s reminiscent of the Modcloth sweater she wore in 1.01, though the psuedo-undershirt and the keyhole at the back of the neck are distinct details that make it feel less mature. I’m biased, not being a fan of either of those details in general. The illusion of an undershirt is a detail I generally do not love in blouses; I think it looks a lot 'cheaper', for lack of a better term, than simply wearing an individual undershirt or having an undershirt sewn it. I think it could work for a different character, but something about it feels a little off for Josie to me. BUT, also, she tucks her shirt into her skirt here, so it's not too bothersome to me. It's not really visible.
Another fun Saltzman Twins Style Note: Lizzie is either wearing a blue twist-tie crop top or bra/bralette under her white netted tee, and the shade is very reminiscent of Josie’s sweater.
One fun thing about this project is how much more I’m noticing these fun coordinating moments. I’m curious about whether they talk about coordinating like this, or if they have a siphon twin psychic sense that influences choices like these on occasion. I’d imagine a mix. Regardless, it’s fun to see common threads (🧵) between their relatively disparate styles—so far, Josie leans vintage/mod-influenced, and Lizzie trends modern but often more casual. It's noteworthy to me, too, that Josie is in her school uniform - we'll see a glimpse of that signature plaid skirt in just a minute, and the Salvatore S is pictured above, emblazoned onto her sweater - while Lizzie seems not to be dressed to be going to classes. Interesting to note, given Josie being presented as the one that's a little more 'studious' between the two of them.
No clear shot of her shoes, but Josie has a classic/adorable knee high socks thing going on, too.
She has also been experimenting stylistically a little the last few episodes, this color palette and generally studious look is (perhaps refreshingly?) a return to form.
Lots piercings, once again, but unfortunately hard to make out. That's an interesting styling choice to me, though, that even in some of her more traditional outfits, she tends to wear multiple earrings in one ear. It's a detail that somewhat contrasts the more studious persona she's often trying to present.
Later, we get a repeat of Josie’s pajamas from 1.02 as she’s helping Lizzie get ready for their sweet sixteen party, her hair pulled up in sensible ponytail. Not much new to say here, particularly because I still can't pin down the specific items for how generic they are. But it is interesting to note the contrast being made here - Lizzie complains that Josie's not even dressed for the night yet so that the narrative can highlight that Josie's been helping Lizzie get ready for their party at the expense of getting herself ready on time. It's also interesting that we don't know how this happened - is this a regular occurrence/something that they both just presume will happen? Did Josie start getting ready and pause when Lizzie needed help? (I actually feel pretty confident that she did - her makeup is done. Which, I mean, her makeup is always done, it's a CW show. But her hair is pulled back in a way that would be really efficient for doing her makeup, and she has different earrings than the ones from the day in.)
Obligatory talisman moment. I naively assumed that this necklace was custom-made for the show, but it's actually this necklace named "Adventure" from Pyrrah. According to the description, "The ship featured on this talisman represents adventure, while the anchors are symbolic of safety and security. Elephant trunks signify good luck. The caduceus is a symbol of Hermes, the patron saint of travelers." While not exactly what Hope describes (a charm to "make quiet things heard), it still seems appropriate for a character whose arc is so wrapped up in repression vs. expression, self-discovery, etc.) Particularly interested in the adventure/patron saint of travelers aspect, given when Josie makes her last appearance with it.
It costs a pretty penny, and there seem to be limited quantities left, as the item has been archived, but it's out there, for what it's worth out. (I'm on a grad student's stipend, sadly, otherwise I would be more seriously tempted. The details seem really intricate.)
She's also sporting what looks like a golden/bronze tie-on charm bracelet in this scene, but alas, I can't find it anywhere. Still, I find it interesting - I don't believe she wears it with her day outfit, but she is still wearing it when she approaches Jo in her dress. It's very pretty and feels a little more whimsical than her usual fare re: accessories.
What I love about Josie’s party dress—its timeless, classic, and elegant nature—also makes it hard to narrow down. I found a few options that it may be, but realistically, I’m not sure. (Am I mad at myself for being able to find so little this ep? Yes. Alas, if I keep letting that stop me, I will never finish this project.) If I had to guess, I would say I think they may have gotten this dress from a bridal shop and altered it somewhat.
I also usually try not to color correct quite so much, but this shot called for a little more, as Legacie's often skewed-green filtering was washing out the color, making it hard to tell the dress is pink.
Anyway, Josie is sporting a pale pink, gauzy dress with a sweetheart neckline. It's one of the looks that stands out to me most from season one (though maybe I just like formal wear), making me a bit said that we never get a particularly great shot of it. The one above is probably the clearest shot, but I wish we could have closed in on it to see some more detail, and seen it in better lighting. Alas, alack. The bottom is also cascading and a bit purposefully-torn looking (I don't know a better word for this, unfortunately), giving it almost the air of a dress from a fairytale.
She's also taken her hair down (though she seems to have perhaps curled it?) very specifically so she can ask Jo to braid it. It's very wholesome.
More readily visible here is that rhinestone belt Josie accessorizes with. (I didn't color correct as heavily again with this one, so you can see how much the lighting/color grading affects the look of the dress lmao.) It adds a bit of modernity to any otherwise very classic look. I'm also inclined to think it's either sewn into the dress itself, or is a cuff of some kind, because it doesn't extend to the back.
Instead, there's a white, silky looking bow on the back! It's simultaneously very classic and traditional while also coming off a bit young/juvenile, perhaps emphasizing the vulnerable position Josie finds herself in this episode.
Not pictured because we never get a great shot of them, but I would bet my life the white wedges she's wearing in this look are Aldos.
I know this is a series on Josie’s style and I keep bringing up Lizzie’s too, but I often find the comparison adds something interesting to the conversation! It’s fascinating to me (especially in an episode so focused on the differences in and unspoken but real tension between Josie and Lizzie’s wants and needs) that their different style preferences are SO on display in their birthday outfits. Josie’s dress is classically feminine and princess-like with a sweetheart neckline, whereas Lizzie’s bright blue fringe dress and white faux-fur shrug is reminiscent of old Hollywood with a modern it-girl twist. The differences in their personalities couldn’t be more on display here and given the content of the episode, I imagine that’s intentional. I also find it interesting/notable that Lizzie stays in-color theme with what both of the twins were wearing earlier, while Josie shifts away from it.
After getting buried alive, I think I'd probably feel the need for a shower, too. There was a LOT of dirt involved.
Her white tie robe looks fairly basic/standard. I think we may later see her in one that has the Salvatare 'S' emblazoned on, but this one doesn't seem to.
Not easily seen here, but if you pay close attention in this scene, she's still wearing the talisman Hope gave her underneath. <3
As Josie and Lizzie and Alaric say goodbye to Jo before the twins siphon the magic keeping her 'alive', they've both changed into much more casual clothes - Josie wearing grey sweats and a (very dark) blue sweatshirt, Lizzie in a red hoodie. VERY fair, considering the day they're having. It's interesting that they've switched color schemes, with Lizzie's red a deeper, warmer variation on the pink from Josie's dress earlier, and Josie's navy sweatshirt a similar callback to Lizzie's blue. Very ebb and flow of them. Also noteworthy, Josie's put her hair back up after her shower, whereas Lizzie has let hers back down.
Once again, if you look closely, the chain of the talisman is still visible underneath Josie's sweatshirt. I keep on noticing it because it seems like the type of thing she would normally take off for a shower or getting ready for bed, leading me to wonder if it's helping her feel safe, given what Hope said earlier about it helping them find her.
That's a wrap! I'm a bit disappointed I could only really find one item with this episode, but ah, well. You win and you lose some. As always, if anyone has any info on them, feel free to reach out so I can edit/update this post, and I'll be happy to credit you.

Read Alexa_Shadow5’s double-update on It’s in the Bloodline (a no-humanity Hope/anti-vampire zealot Josie enemies-to-lovers story) last night, and the first chapter of the double-update was great, Hope and Josie going toe-to-toe during an interrogation, but the second chapter…wow 🤯 Really excellent emotional work and a great twist spanning the two chapters!
If the fic sounds like your cup of tea, you won’t regret checking it out (and be sure to leave kudos/comments if you enjoy it!).
(Experimenting with putting the fic summary in the link’s description field when I do one of these new-style fic rec posts with the link card… I think the full summary might appear on my site, with only an abbreviated part in the Dashboard.
Nope, it doesn’t, which is sad—the old editor’s link preview boxes did—but I “fixed” it with a tiny bit of custom CSS:
div.npf-link-block .bottom .description { max-height: 1000px !important; }
which basically just expands the point at which the card truncates.)

Just finished the second season of Legacies and everything about it is so different from TVD/Originals.
I would definitely say I’m overall enjoying it, and I like the characters (especially Hope, and the Saltzman twins), but it feels like it’s playing to an entirely different genre than the previous shows.
Where TVD was definitely playing to a teen vampire drama kind of audience, and The Originals thankfully went a bit more on drama and plot for an older audience, Legacies almost feels like it’s going for comedy vibes at times, and it’s REALLY jarring as a backdrop for how serious it seems like it thinks it’s being sometimes. It covers serious topics at times, but it just completely undercuts that with a lack of tonal sincerity compared to its predecessor.
Legacies plays out almost like a Buffyverse crackfic. It’s quite LITERALLY a monster of the week with season arcs, and plays to Buffyish archetypes (even calling the core cast the “super squad” as the stand in for “the scoobies”) but with such a GOOFY tone to much of it that it kind of undermines what made The Originals so good (and TVD at least a MEMORABLE hot mess).
One thing that actually bothers me is the HIDEOUSLY overused dramatic slow walk edits. It’s in every single episode, sometimes multiple times, and it just feels like they’re trying to EMPHASIZE drama to make up for the fact that, compared to the much better writing of The Originals, there really isn’t much.
A lot of the scenes where a lot of students are all in one place are really ham handed bullying allegories clearly written by adults who were never on the receiving end of it at that age. Just sloppy generic “every single teen will laugh at every mean thing said about someone else” scenes that feel horribly insincere and out of touch. The best example of teen bullying so far was probably the viciously catty relationship between Penelope and Lizzy, but then Penelope left at the end of season 1. Alyssa feels like she’s intended to fill that void, but Penelope’s history with and feelings for Josie made her a more compelling character with better connections to the story imo.
Also all of the hero talk is just way over the top. It’s like the characters KNOW they’re in a story, where TVD and TO just told a story instead. A lot of the decisions made in the scripting and editing of Legacies really feel like they undercut what made the previous shows (especially Originals) so good.
The stakes don’t necessarily feel high or low, they just feel weird. The stakes in TVD were pretty reliably “Katherine Piece is doing something that fucks up other people’s lives” or “ancient super-vampire Klaus Mikaelson is trying to undo the curse that stops him from also being a werewolf, and doesn’t care who he kills to get what he wants” and that fed into the vibe of “this story is about a girl who gets in over her head when she’s thrown into a world of vampires and supernatural bullshit.” The stakes in The Originals were almost always “Klaus made some enemies over his long life of impulsive anger and amoral backstabbing schemes, and now those enemies have the upperhand and threatened his family” and that fed into the vibe of TO being ABOUT the Mikaelson family and their long history of crimes and betrayals while ferociously protecting each other.
The stakes in Legacies so far are that there’s a pit of hell goo (like a shitty Hellmouth) that erases you from the world and everyone’s memory. There was literally an episode where Hope and Lizzy get sucked into an 80s video game themed magic prison with a minotaur who could have killed them. With actual 8-bit style editing effects as a stand-in for the usual generic aftereffects magic. The THREAT level is theoretically high, but it’s such an off the wall plot choice compared to the curses and backstabbing vampire/werewolf/witch drama in The Originals. And it just leaves Legacies feeling GOOFY in a way that doesn’t scratch the same itch. Which means the serious topics they TRY to cover in the show (grief, self harm, depression, self esteem, bullying) don’t FEEL serious because the tone can’t shift enough to match what they’re going for.
I’m still enjoying it, because I like the world and some of the characters (*COUGH* HOPEMIKAELSON), but it doesn’t have that same gut punching tear jerking drama that had me in tears every other episode like The Originals did. Of the three, The Originals was the one I was LEAST looking forward to, but halfway through Legacies, I’m already looking back on it as easily my favorite of the three. Originals knocked my heart on its ass dozens of times. That hard hitting season length drama was just so much more impactful from a storytelling perspective than dramatic slow mo shots of the super squad living in a world of CW’s Buffy fanfiction and acting like they know they’re in a story. Almost half the lines of dialogue feel like they were focused grouped to adults who were trying to guess what fanfic-writing tumblr teens wanted to hear. Some of the lines feel snappy, ish, but none of them feel sincere. They feel more like beating the audience over the head with their own performative checklist of allyship. Almost feels like they were trying to say “we agree Joss Whedon is a huge asshole, but we want nothing more than to write just like him.”
The end result is a show that can hit (maybe even exceed) the goofy levels of Buffy, but misses the mark on the serious notes that let Buffy get away with being such a powerhouse in the cultural memory. It rivals Buffy’s camp, but not Buffy’s depth or sincerity. You don’t get the Season 6 allegory for depression from a show that treats every other episode like the “everyone becomes their Halloween costume” plot.
It shouldn’t have tried to be Buffy. It should have tried to be The Originals aimed at the age bracket of The Vampire Diaries. It would have been a much better show if it had gone that route.
I’m still enjoying it, but coming right off the heels of The Originals, I’m largely disappointed by how much better it could have been if it kept that same writing style and tone.
But at least there’s gay stuff.
Hope should definitely kiss girls.

GOOD AND EVIL. A SAVIOR AND A LOST CAUSE. BUT I'VE LEARNED THE ONLY REAL DIFFERENCE IS JUST WHO'S TELLING THE STORY seems to fit them perfectly. whispers say they're from the FUTURE. can it all be believed? just keep an eye on them and see if their true colors shine through. / ghost, twenty nine, they/them, est

read here for powers, weaknesses, and lore about the tribrid.
notes.
hope has one tattoo on the back of her neck. it's rarely seen, as the tribrid doesn't often wear their hair up off their neck. it's two sets of initials: K.M. and H.M. for klaus and hayley. hope had gotten these shortly after their deaths, before returning to mystic falls.
hope’s VAMPIRE / HYBRID TEETH are a little different than the normal tvdu vampire. most of her front teeth (apart from the incisors) become longer and pointed, giving her a more deadly and lethal bite. this is also to help her consume as much blood as possible in one bite by opening more points in the flesh of who she drinks from.
hope is 5'1 FLAT FOOTED but she appears taller because of always wearing heels of some kind. this makes them seem taller than they really are, usually anywhere around 5'5 depending on the shoe.
with no god arc / spear, hope instead shipped the only existing red oak stake to josie.
current timeline / active plots.
anyone in the past (2012) would be introduced to hope as hope marshall; just to keep the issue of a new mikaelson in new orleans off the list of problems.
one of her first decisions when coming to the 2012 timeline, hope immediately went to the bayou and broke the curse on the crescent pack instead of the witch sabine laurent/celeste dubois being forced by hayley marshall.
there is a small sect within the resistance that hope has become a defacto leader for. this wasn't an intentional thing but when it became clear that chris halliwell wasn't willing to do the necessary things, sometimes the gruesome and horrible things, hope started to take on these tasks. a few people followed in her footsteps and began looking to her for guidance & support. these members of the resistance agree that peace won't be possible with just talking and negotiations, that there will be a war and it's best to be prepared.
when coming back to the past, hope refused to leave anyone behind and with the help of lizzie and josie, freed rafael & his parents from the prison world. in order to save rafael, as he was still dying from the necromancer's influence, she offers him blood to turn him into a hybrid.
sireline & sirebond status.
lizzie saltzman - sirebond unbroken
aria mikaelson - sirebond unbroken
rafael waithe - sirebond unbroken

This is the Part Where You Run, 1.01
Hello! This is my new sideblog/project/series where I go episode-by-episode in each episode of Legacies that Josie Saltzman appears in and talk about her style choices.
Though there are many blogs out there focused on character style, my initial inspiration was @bettycooperoutfitwatch so a huge shoutout and thank you to them!
ShopYourTV was also hugely helpful, as it’s where I found more info about the majority of the pieces that were able to be tracked down, so thanks to them! I’ll be sure to mention these shout-outs in a pinned post soon, but for now, this will have to do. I’m not super well-versed in fashion terminology and how to go about finding things, and learning is part of the fun of this series. I really appreciate having this resource!
Onto the analysis!
Being my favorite character, of course I tend to pay the most attention to Josie’s style, but I also think that’s somewhat intentional within the show! While the other characters are by no means without their own sense of style or interesting outfits, Josie, in my humble opinion, often gets the most to talk about! Her style goes through quite a few changes each season, but there are staples and common motifs throughout! She’s also one of the characters that represents the most common day-to-day trends. (Nevermind that technically, Legacies takes place a decade or so past our current timeline.)
Let’s get into it.
First Look
This is the most Buttoned Up (TM) we’ll see Josie in this episode, so I guess it’s apt it’s during her first appearance, when she’s trying to make a good impression while she and Lizzie give Rafael the school tour.
She and Lizzie aren’t exactly matching, but they’ve certainly coordinated their white undershirts, blue blazers, and preppy-yet-stylish ties that—ha—tie together their uniforms.
I’m pretty certain that the blazer is this cotton Ralph Lauren number, marked at $195. I don’t plan to detail the cost of every item in this series, because that’s not often something being considered that heavily in the costuming departments of teen dramas (#suspend your disbelief), but I think it’s thematically relevant to mention here. Landon and Rafael are, of course, fairly shell-shocked by the news of a school for the Supernatural and one that’s for “troubled rich kids” to boot. Lizzie and Josie being in their preppiest get-ups here adds to that conflict, but we also see hints of Josie’s personality shining through as well. The ruffled collar of her shirt, for instance, will come back into play numerous times, as will various accessory components. While I can’t find the exact tie she swears here, based on her other accessories in season one, I feel confident it’s from ASOS. It’s striped between a dark and light shade of blue, easily mistaken as plain navy if not looking closely, and adds to her charmingly over-accessorized look here. Her pearl-hook Angara earrings (if I’m not mistaken, the original price is listed at $360) also add to the look. While I knew Kaylee Bryant had multiple piercings later on, I didn’t realize that was already true by 1.01! Along with her pearls, Josie also dons these yellow-gold bar earrings ($98), signifying an edge and sense of contemporary trends that might not be visible at first glance.
Her hair is also pulled back in a half-up, half-down look that is sure to show off her earrings. Josie’s being very purposeful in showing off what she perceives as the most sophisticated, polished version of herself.
Interestingly, though, whie it maintains a similar shape to the shape her outfit would have if she was wearing the Salvaotore School Skirt, she’s instead clad in what I’m pretty sure is this red zip-up J.Crew skirt. The bright red, while also a bolder choice than her school skirt, matches not only the S emblazoned on her jacket, but the tie Lizzie wears in the first shot, tying her to both the legacy (#pun intended) of the school and to her twin sister. (Note: I’m mostly going to focus on Josie for this series, but there are some relevant comparisons to be made. Lizzie opts for a pair of plaid pants during the day and while she doesn’t never wear skirts, she often seems to opt for pants and we see her in a fair few more jumpsuits than Josie as well. Skirts seem to be a little more Josie’s thing than her sister’s.)
It looks like it might be hemmed, but it’s also sitting fairly high on her. We’ll see high-waisted pieces that are a lot more visible on Josie later on.
I didn’t include a shot of them here because that way leads to blurriness, but she’s also wearing knee-high socks from ASOS (I can’t find the exact socks or the exact price, but I would guess anywhere from $6-17 based on current ASOS prices for similar products.)
While we don’t get a clear-enough shot of her shoes and I can’t seeem to find them anywhere, they’re very clearly black loafers. While I can’t be certain, I think it’s likely they’re from Aldo, as that brand seems to be a favorite for Josie’s shoes this season. Practical if a little stuffy, they go decently with the rest of her outfit, but don’t stick around as a staple of her wardrobe. I think the wardrobe department did really well showing us a lot about her character, but in the first few episodes, while everyone’s still getting a feel for the characters, there’s bound to be a few experimental picks that don’t get repeated. This was clearly one of them.
Look 1.5
It’s only when Josie approaches Alaric and Hope’s sparring session that we see the full blouse she wears underneath her blue blazer, a scoop-neck camisole visible underneath. Both her blouse and camisole are also tucked into her skirt, another common theme in Josie’s style. (Also: lots of layers for what I imagine is late summer/early fall. Did the school year just start? If so, she totally got hot and took her jacket off. Queen of being relatable. <3.) While I don’t think it’s the exact same top, it’s reminiscent of this high-neck ruffled Neiman Marcus blouse. The shape, sleeves, and translucent lace paneling are all spot-on. Not to mention that this brand totally goes in her preppy-girl wheelhouse. However, Josie’s ruffled sleeves seem to hang lower, the hem of her sleeve doesn’t go across her chest, and her neckline seems more ruffled. I couldn’t find the exact top she wears, but this was the best approximation. There’s a LOT going on with it.
(Note: I have a love-hate relationship with this whole outfit. It’s so meticulously put-together and also has WAY too much going on, imho, while striking for a classic look. We love that for her, though. The whole vibe is that she’s... put-together and clearly has a good sense of style, but she’s also trying a little too hard? Makes a lot of sense for her character at this moment in time.)
Look 2
The perfect fit for jail-breaking a new acquaintance from the local werewolf transition space!
The party at the Old Mill happens on the same school-day that Josie and Lizzie were giving Rafael his tour, but after dark. Which means she changed into this blue polo with a yellow collar and, of course, the matching yellow Salvatore S—but she also pairs it with her blue-black plaid school uniform skirt. For a party. What a dork. I love her. (It’s especially funny that she had to change out of her day-skirt and into the plaid to accomplish this. Makes me wonder if it was in the wash or something.)
It manages to still be preppy (it is a polo, after all), but there’s a light-heartedness and simplicity to it that isn’t there in her day-outfit. I wish I had the receipts, but I can’t find the polo anywhere (as every scene she wears it in is so dark), I’m pretty sure the uniform skirts were custom-made for the show, and there are no good shots of her shoes (though I imagine she’s still in the loafers from the day). Shame upon my household.
Even so, it’s fun for me to take note that as much as she tries dress down a bit for the party (and wear less layers so she can get some of that sweet late summer breeeeze), she’s still wearing a nice shirt, her school uniform skirt, and her hair is still all done up from earlier. There’s a slight awkwardness to her character at times that doesn’t come from how she talks or her facial expressions, but the way she carries herself and the way she often dresses just a shade too formal for where she actually is. (But would we expect anything less from one of Caroline Forbes’ daughters?)
The next day, Josie’s wearing this mustard-yellow Modcloth sweater. It’s a classic look and the Peter Pan collar will reappear quite a bit in season one (and the rest of the series, to an extent). She wears it neatly tucked into her school skirt, black tights layered underneath (interesting - she didn’t wear tights with either of the previous day’s outfits), and I think we’re meant to assume that another day of classes has passed considering that it’s dark out by the time of the meeting and she’s clearly dressed for a day of school.
Once again, she’s got the Salvatore S added onto her sweater, and the edge of the collar is scalloped and lined with black stitching. It’s really fine detail work that adds a lot of personality to what’s otherwise a very classic piece.
Though I think I subsonciously already knew this, I was surprised to be reminded that the collar actually goes all the way around to the back. My perception of most shirts that come with a collar attached (rather than shirts that are accessorized with one) is that they are an illusion and I was pleasantly surprised, as I think it extending all the way around adds a maturity and depth to the sweater that I quite like.
Josie’s wearing different earrings from the day before, but unfortunately, they’re not listed anywhere that I can find, nor was I was able to track them down via reversing the images. So description will have to do! They seem to be (maybe a somewhat muted?) yellow-gold tone in color, and I would bet they’re plated with real gold. Highest on her right ear is a two-armed cuff that I don’t think is actually pierced, sitting several inches below it is a gold bar, right underneath that is a gold stud, and underneath that is a small gold hoop—possibly accentuated with rhinestones, but it’s difficult to tell. It’s unclear whether her other ear is similarly adorned because of lighting, angles, and the way her hair falls. Regardless, I love this look! I think focusing on the accessories on top and letting the sweater speak for itself here nails something that yesterday’s school tour look just didn’t. There’s a lot going on with her ear accesories, but it all feels very her, and doesn’t distract from or confuse the other pieces.
Sleeves! Needless to say, they match her collar, though both are individually sewn to the sweater - there’s not a full undershirt sewn into it.
I really love this sweater, can you tell?
Unfortunately, the sold-out page for the shoes Josie’s wearing doesn’t show the prodcut, so I’m just linking to the Shop Your TV page. The chunky yellow platform heels she wears are a lot more stylish than her loafers from earlier, but they’re still a somewhat sensible choice that tells us a lot about her character. They’re hard to see, but this is the best shot of them. The heel isn’t particularly tall, the platform is very wide and better to lean one’s weight on than, say, a stilletto, the toe is closed, and the strap around the ankle with a metallic buckle adds an extra bit of support. They’re fashionable and well-coordinated with her outfit, but still show her to be a more reserved, cautious person.
And there we have it! That’s every outfit Josie wears in this first episode. I’ll definitely have more interesting things to say about her style as the show goes on, but I think this first episode does a great job of establishing her character.
Number of Outfits: I would say this is really just 3 outfits total, but the school tour outfit minus the blazer definitely stands out on its own, too.
Favorite Piece: Yellow Modcloth sweater all the way! I love the collar, the stitching, the color. It’s very quintessentially Josie, and what I imagine when I think of her in season one. Here’s her gif in reward! A Moment (TM) for Josie fashion.
Thanks for reading thus far! This is a passion project and definitely on the back-burner, so I don’t totally know when I’ll be uploading next, but I’m excited to continue it! If you have knowledge on any pieces that I couldn’t find the links for, please feel free to reach out and let me know! I would love to edit this post to be more complete, and I would happily give you credit. Bye for now!

Hosie Fankids: 2nd Iteration
I love making fankids I can't help it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
This could be considered an AU to my main canon Hosie Fankids. Like, don't get me wrong. I LOVE how much I've developed Lana, Hayley, Jay, and Leo and I will continue to write their stories. But I also like the idea of exploring other avenues for my Hosie fankids, and that being "what if Hope and Josie only had twin boys instead". So ta-da, the 2nd iteration of my Hosie fankids that exists in their own little universe away from my main Hosie fankids canon.
You can read the first iteration Hosie fankids here
//
(note: Josie was the one who carried the twins!
second note: i'll try and see if I can't find some time and spoons to do a quick character design sketch for the 2nd iteration Hosie fankids as well!
edit: now with pictures!)
//
Elijah “Eli” Lukas Mikaelson (15) is the son of Hope Mikaelson and Josie Saltzman, and the twin brother of Auggie. He takes after his Mom Hope because he’s more aloof and builds up heavy walls between him and anyone who is not family. He keeps to himself and prefers to observe other people than interact with them. He tends to go lone wolf a lot, doing his own thing and never bothers to let anyone know what he’s doing.
Eli is fiercely protective of his family to the point of it being near possessive. He hates when unfamiliar people interact with his family because he’s scared they will hurt the people he cares about. He’s also overbearingly protective with it comes to Auggie and his relationships because his twin wears his heart on his sleeve and willingly gives it away to whoever he’s with–which makes it easy for Auggie to be heartbroken. He hates seeing his twin brother hurt all the time, so anytime Auggie’s with someone new, Eli will hover around his twin or secretly threaten his brother’s new beau to treat him right or else.
The forest is his favourite place to go when he wants to clear his head and be attuned to his senses. He loves the smell of the woods and the way the soil dips beneath his weight. Eli especially loves going to the forest after it rains because the smell of wet soil always grounds him when he becomes too overwhelmed and oversensitive to things happening around him. Eli is also a huge bookworm and loves getting lost in the stories he reads. He dreamed of becoming a fantasy author when he was younger and has written a few stories–mostly short stories–and has entered them in a couple of story contests and won a couple of them.
Eli is a Tribrid, just like his Mom Hope. He’s not great at magic but he’s also not terrible, though he will sometimes avoid using it if possible. Eli feels more comfortable with his werewolf abilities despite having never activated his curse yet. Eli doesn’t have plans to actively do that since it does mean he has to take a life. He’s content if he never activates his curse or not.
Aside from that, Eli is a pretty good fighter from being trained by both his Mom and Grandpa Alaric. Eli has even taken a few martial classes after school. His fighting style is a mix of MMA, Kickboxing, Kung Fu, and Muay Thai. He can also fight with weapons, but he prefers not to because they often get in the way when he’s in the zone of battle, preferring to use his body as a weapon than anything else.
When he and Auggie were ten, Eli got kidnapped by a group of people who were after their Mom. They were trying to grab both twins, but Eli used magic to shield Auggie away so he ended up being the only hostage. Eli did his best to fight back and survive until his Mom and Momma found him. This event affected him badly and it’s the main reason why he’s distrustful of other people and so possessively protective of his family.
He and Auggie are aware of the Merge and are trying their best not to think about it–they’ve mostly compartmentalized it until they need to worry about it. Their Mom Hope and Momma Josie have been doing their best to figure out a way to stop the Merge without either of them becoming a Heretic or vampire.
[Physical description: 5’9” short dark chestnut brown hair and blue eyes]
.
Augustus “Auggie” Joseph Mikaelson (15) is the son of Hope Mikaelson and Josie Saltzman, and the twin brother of Eli. Auggie is more gregarious and the life of the party. He’s popular with everyone in school, not because of who his family is, but just because he’s an all-around awesome guy. He’s also a bit of a mischievous goof and loves a good prank or two. But other than that, Auggie is always the guy people go to when they need help.
Auggie is protective of his family, especially his twin, and always does his best to include Eli in anything even though he knows Eli will turn him down. He’s always worried about Eli because of how recluse he can get. But he also knows it’s because his twin prefers to be alone or with familiar people, and that’s fine! Auggie appreciates Eli a lot and will do whatever to protect him because of all the times Eli has comforted him after every heartbreak, Auggie feels like he owes it to Eli to give back.
He’s a huge nerd. The biggest, dorkiest nerd in existence. Auggie is in the school’s LARP and tabletop RPG club. He’s mostly the DM because he likes to be the one who tells the story and watches his club members have fun. He’s also in the theatre club but as crew. Despite being so beloved and enjoying the attention, he loves being the one who supports others a lot more. He finds way more joy in letting others shine through than taking their spotlight.
Auggie is a Tribrid, just like his Mom Hope, and a Siphoner like his Momma Josie. He loves magic, loves using magic, and loves being a Siphoner because it allows him to challenge himself. He will carry a manageable supply of small trinkets with magical essence stored inside so he can siphon if he finds himself in battle and is alone. He has an affinity for Elemental magic and Ancestral magic. Auggie avoids using Dark Magic if possible, mainly because he’s scared about what will happen to him if he does. When he has no choice and uses Dark Magic, he will secretly put all the negative side effects into a small coin that his Great-Aunt Freya gave him. Nobody knows about this except Eli. He has no plans on triggering his werewolf curse as he doesn’t like the idea of taking a life to do so, nor does he have plans to become a Heretic.
He’s not great at hand-to-hand combat, not like his twin brother, though his werewolf abilities do help him with his quick reflexes. But overall, he prefers to be long-distance when he’s in battle so he can have time to think about alternatives or find exits he can go to if he feels like he’s unable to win.
When he and Eli were ten, Auggie watched Eli be kidnapped by a group of people who were after their Mom. They were trying to grab both twins but Eli used magic to shield Auggie away from danger. Auggie was so distraught that when he ran back to his Mom and Momma for help, he was completely inconsolable. He had to be looked after at his Aunt Lizzie, Uncle MG and Uncle Ethan’s place while his Mom and Momma went to save Eli. When they came back with his twin in tow, Auggie refused to leave Eli’s side. This event is the reason why Auggie feels like he has to pay his twin back for protecting him.
He and Eli are aware of the Merge and are trying their best not to think about it–they’ve mostly compartmentalized it until they need to worry about it. Their Mom Hope and Momma Josie have been doing their best to figure out a way to stop the Merge without either of them becoming a Heretic or vampire.

Look who just woke up- is that JENNY BOYD? No, I must have been mistaken, that’s LIZZIE SALTZMAN from LEGACIES. I heard she is 23 and stuck here just like everyone else. Even in the 20’s, they still give off a/an ACTING BETTER THAN HER TWIN, SNARKY REMARKS, HOPELESS ROMANTIC impression. They’re known to be quite EXCITING, but have a tendency to be SNARKY on their bad days.

I like to think that Josie’s style was inspired from looking at Jo’s old pictures.
