i think josie's personal quest missed a trick given that we're playing as the herald of andraste, orlesians believe in a divinely mandated right to rule and are the only country to do so, and we're trying to bring back a lost noble house. (source for below)

like minister bellise is just. generically haughty.

but given that we're told orlais believes in this divine right to rule, she COULD have been written as like genuinely believing keeping others from joining the nobility is a way to honor the maker-- after all, surely if they were meant to be noble, they would have been born so? or if she makes it more and more difficult, then only the ones the maker smiles upon get past her?

and i guess the game then 'tests' the nobility? if you fail, then you didnt have the maker's favor, and if you succeed, then he smiles on you? is playing the game and playing it well a form of worship to some orlesians?

and how does our position as the supposed 'herald of andraste' play into this? if we're chosen by andraste, allegedly, and then choosing to uplift a noble house, how does that intersect with divine right to rule? surely someone has some feelings on that! and if we can uplift one house, what about others?

its just. we have a very clear intersection between religion and nobility and we should have been able to interact with that! so was this codex entry nothing more than the overblown complaint of a ferelden bann or was it an actual commentary on how the empire views its nobility?

Okay I was talking with R about this last night but I'm rotating May and October in my head rn because here's the facts:

- October is the reason Mirrors is dead. This was done using the marvellous winning in some way

- October has some form of power over dreams and sleep as well

- May and October are still regularly in contact, shown in The Bloody Wallpaper (and May is also scared of her. Good)

- May is also a marvellous player

Josie tried -- and failed -- to pay attention to her mother dictating her schedule for the week over their meal, poking at the tomatoes on her plate, ignoring the look she was getting from her brother. She already knew what it was going to be anyway, and so she didn't feel too bad about not actively listening. By the end of the evening, she was just grateful to be left alone, trying to find comfort in the darkness of her bedroom -- though mostly she felt stuck -- as she stared blankly at the ceiling, hoping for a distraction. It seemed her prayers were answered, as a knock snapped her out of her trance, and a smile spread across her face when her eyes finally adjusted to the dark and she saw him. Josie pushed the window open and gently pulled him inside, careful to not make a sound because her mother would surely not be pleased if she found out. "I thought you couldn't come today," she said, her voice barely above a whisper as to not disturb the other residents of their household. "We should probably start finding new ways to see each other, huh? Don't want you breaking your neck making that climb."

OUR SONG — the only time he can see her is when the lights are off and everyone is asleep. he's not exactly the most popular guy in town. he knows he doesn't have the best reputation, and he won't attempt to dispute that. he's aware of his actions, and he himself isn't a fan of his choices. however, the one thing he disagrees with is the notion that he's a negative influence on those around him. he keeps that part of his life separate and distant from those he cares about the most. he gently knocks on her window as soon as the lights go out. guys i need to share my Twin Peaks x Edge of Midnight au. I dont know if anyone in the avantris fandom watches twin peaks so this is probably for a very niche community but I have to share bc im so normal rn

- Marius: just your normal guy in Twin Peaks, except sometimes appears in Cooper’s dreams to tell him clues. Dream Marius knows a lot more than real Marius, but he definitely has unnatural instincts when it comes to the town

- Lethica: a watercolor painter, friends with Josie, is very caring and does her best to help with the investigation. She’s pretty mysterious and sometimes only gives info when she’s asked

- Farryn: lives in a cabin in the woods, friends with the Log Lady, always gives Cooper a homemade charm to protect him. Knows whats going on with the owls and doesn’t like it

- Yorgrim: the guy no one wants to mess with, despite being chill. Can commune with spirits and knows about the Black Lodge but doesn’t wanna talk about it because who the hell does

- Jericho: the town’s performer! Gets along very well with Cooper and despite being a bit paranoid is cheerful in friendly. Except also he’s very possessed but Virgil who knows about Bob and Mike (and maybe who killed Laura) but taunts Cooper endlessly with keeping that info out of reach

- Briggsy: a fisherman who’s friends with Pete and lowkey thinks he’s a pirate. He knows there’s nasty stuff going on in the town but really its non of his business

- William Van Brunt: the town sexyman, has dirt on literally everyone and has ties with Leo and Hank. Despite being an asshole and a flirt and generally unhelpful with the investigation, he’s mostly uninvolved with Laura’s murder other than knowing stuff about Leo and possibly Ben Horne

though im not sure if its the actual quest you play i enjoy so much or rather the idea of it

like i love the change from typical gameplay, i like the inquisitor being put in a situation where they have to navigate politics (bc that rly does makes sense as the leader of a force that ends up with so much political power, its good to actually have to see that!) i like seeing all the companions put into this setting

that said i also get why a lot of ppl dont like it. the repetative eavesdropping, the timed approval deductions

While I'm talking bout Maighread I really need to think on how Gabriel feels about his niece. On one hand everything is still pretty awkward family wise (and the approaching realization re: the not aging thing is slowly creeping in)

But. I think by the time Maisie is born he's probably.... not fully adjusted, but learning too. It honestly might be easier for him to bond with his niece then with his sister simply on the premise that's there no past *expectation* for that relationship

There's nothing he's missing, nothing he's forgotten, nothing here that he could never live up to. Just a new family member he can watch grow up......

blanca had not expected a good reaction, this wasn't something one imagined when simply dating someone, but to be called a cheat was not exactly what she had expected. "i can't recall a conversation about exclusivity. i'm sorry if you feel like i betrayed you, but i didn't think that you considered us exclusive." she admitted, somewhat confused but trying to be understanding of her point of view.

"i just wanted you to have all the information about me. i am who i am. i like what i like." she said with a shrug.
