dating joshua feels like...
being put on the highest pedestal. it's him asking you for your heart because he can't have anything less, he wants all of you ('give me your heart, it's safe with me, i won't break it') and you giving it, because you know he'll take the best care of it.
('aren't you afraid?' you wonder, tilting your head to get a better look at him. 'what if we won't work out?'
'but what if we will?' he challenges in a soft voice and you bite your tongue, cause there's no answer to that. he smiles and brushes a fallen hair strand out of your face. 'you gotta take that leap of faith, darling. i told you that my heart is yours because i know you won't betray my trust. and you've given me yours back and it's my biggest treasure. i won't break it, darling. i won't.')
his love is gentle, his love is sweet, his love runs through your veins like a hushed reminder that you are the one who has his heart. joshua thinks so highly of you, would give you the moon and the stars if he could, writes thousand poems and none fully portray how he feels about you, what you make him feel. you put him on the cloud nine, love lifts him higher from the ground, fills his heart with light. but he's not blind. he is not in love with a perfect image of you, he is in love with you, real you, with your issues and struggles and imperfections.
('you are my kindest angel,' he soothes, wiping tears away from your eyes. 'please don't cry.'
'i am not kind, i am horrible, i was so awfully mean to her and now i can't even go and apologize cause i'm scared she won't accept it,' you wail, turning away from him. you sure you look like a mess with running nose, ruined make-up and red eyes. joshua gently but firmly makes you face him and you whine, shaking your head: 'no, shua!'
'you are my kindest angel,' he repeats again, making eye contact with you. 'the fact that you realized your mistake and you want to apologize already means so much. and horrible person wouldn't be sitting here and crying because of this.' he smiles, handing you tissues. 'you are the kindest person i know,' he starts and ignores your protests, continuing: 'and you would have forgiven her for this, just like she will forgive you now. no more tears, angel.')
joshua is handwritten letters hidden under your pillow when you wake up, he is a love song sang to you on acoustic guitar, he is 'angel, darling, sweetheart' petnames, he is a butterfly kiss on your lips that leaves you tingling. he reminds you that you first have to love yourself and only then love others and he teaches you to be kind to yourself.
('i didn't do anything special,' you reason with him, looking at all the bath bombs from lush. 'what's the occasion?'
'there's no need for special occasion to pamper yourself, you deserve to feel good,' he replies, running a bath for you. he smiles in satisfaction once the temperature is up to his liking. 'now, lilac bomb or stargazer one?')
his touch is full of reverence - you are walking and breathing dream for him, he sometimes can't believe that you chose and keep on choosing to stay by his side. his appreciation for you runs deep and maybe he is not screaming to the whole world about it, but you know this and that's enough for both of you.
dating joshua is like that feeling when you are tucked into the bed, kissed on the forehead with the wish of a good sleep and murmured 'i love you'. that feeling of peace, serenity and warmth - this is what dating with joshua feels like, this is what he gives you on daily basis without a fail.
('josh,' you call and he looks up from the set of notes scattered on the table. 'what are you doing?'
'writing you a love song,' he replies easily, smiling at your blush. 'it's not finished yet.'
'you wrote me one last month,' you remind him, stepping closer. 'are you planning to gift me one every month?'
'i wish i could,' he says honestly, kissing your hand and pulling you closer. 'you inspire me to write love songs every day.' he stares at with open wonder and when you are ready to call him out for staring, he suddenly confesses: 'you are such a dream.'
it's cheesy but it's sincere and it makes you melt against his frame. 'i love you,' you whisper and he hugs you tighter.
' i love you too, darling.')

Tell me about your buddie playlist!!! Will you share the tracks? I wanna know!!!! 😍😍
So it's kinda like three hours long but I'll go through some of it.
"It's Nice To Have a Friend" - Taylor Swift
One of the lyrics is fully "Have my back? Yeah every day" like come on
"Save Me" - Noah Kahan
I feel like it really captures Buck's self worth issues
"Friends" - Ed Sheeran
The whole song is about how he knows this person as more than just a friend and they do more than just friend things
"In Case You Don't Live Forever" & "Share Your Address" - Ben Platt
The first one is about how he loves his partner so much and basically since his partner will inevitably die he wants to tell him now that he loves him. The second one is about how he's basically ready to move in and go the whole nine yards with his boyfriend even tho it's a new relationship and I just feel like that's them
"Till Forever Falls Apart" - Ashe
Basically saying that even if all these terrible things happen ("If the tide takes California") I'd still be ok with it because I got to know you
"There You Are" - Zayn
Basically talks about how this person is always there for him no matter how bad it gets and only they know him so well
"Feels Like" - Gracie Abrams
Basically about how great it is to have this person as a friend
"Different" - Joshua Bassett
Talks about how they've both had failed relationships in the past (maybe with eachother? I don't fully remember) but it'll be different this time and it'll work
"Good Luck, Babe!" - Chappell Roan
Basically talking about how you can't run from the fact that you're gay, no amount of boyfriends (in this case girlfriends) will change it and while I have no real proof that Eddie feels that way it just checks out in my mind that he would repress any and all gay feelings

Thanks to that anonymous ask, I've now added Vicious by Sabrina Carpenter to my Tamlin playlist. :)
If you're in the mood for song recs, this song always struck me as perfect for what Tamlin felt after Feyre left:
Someone You Loved by Lewis Capaldi (excerpt below):
I'm going under and this time I fear there's no one to turn to
This all or nothing way of loving got me sleeping without you
Now, I need somebody to know
Somebody to heal
Somebody to have
Just to know how it feels
It's easy to say
But it's never the same
I guess I kinda liked the way you helped me escape
Now the day bleeds
Into nightfall
And you're not here
To get me through it all
I let my guard down
And then you pulled the rug
I was getting kinda used to being someone you loved
Other songs on my list:
"I'll Keep You Safe" by Sleeping At Last (pre-breakup Feylin)
"The Night We Met" by Lord Huron (post-breakup Feylin)
"Monster" by Imagine Dragons (beastly Tamlin, but it's so fitting)
Do you know of any other songs that have pro-Tamlin vibes?

Lonely Together Master List
Chapter 1: Perfect
It had been so long since you’d been around so many people. It made you antsy. You didn’t understand a lot of what was going on in the house. The constant noise scared you. It had you on such an edge that you nearly screamed everytime one of them coughed.
To be fair, before you had met them, you’d honestly jump at footsteps. Because footsteps meant humans, and humans meant danger. Not to mention that you were still not used to being in your human form. You preferred to stay a wolf, you were stronger when you walked on all four legs, and you weren’t as noticeable.
Your human appearance was… striking to most people to say the least. Your bright eyes and darker skin with salt and pepper curly hair made everyone around you always stare at you. You understood it somewhat, you didn’t match everyone else’s looks in Korea. But that didn’t mean you liked people watching you all the time, you hated being the center of attention. So to say you were still adjusting to being around people after having lived alone for centuries was a bit of an understatement. It was all so new to you. You had a new feeling now too. You just weren’t sure what it was…
At first, you thought maybe it was hope. You hadn’t hoped in such a long time, it would bring tears to even the most hardened criminal’s eyes. But you weren’t that good at trusting that human part of you. So you decided to go off of what you knew. And, even though you hadn’t been there long, two weeks at the most you thought, you learned a lot of things about them. You knew all but one of the wolves had a mate. You knew that two of the alphas butted heads on how to lead the pack a lot and that one just watched from the side and did everything behind the scenes without causing too much distress to the others. You knew they all loved each other, no matter what they said or how much they fought. You also knew that, being around them made you feel more alone than you’ve felt in decades.
When you were younger, you didn’t mind being alone. It meant that you didn’t have to rely on anyone, it meant you only had to look out for yourself. And as you got older, it just felt… right. But being around this house full to the brim with people, you started to realize just how much you missed being part of a big family. They treated you like you were one of them. Which was weird to you… because they didn’t really know you. I mean sure they saved you from imminent death, but they didn’t know you from Adam.
The more you thought about your current situation, the weirder the feeling got. The closer you got to each one of them, the stronger the feeling got. And when you got close to one of the quiet ones in particular, you swore it felt like your heart was singing to you. It was something you weren’t sure you’d ever get used to, but it wasn’t something you necessarily hated either. Whatever the feeling was, you’d figure it out eventually or it would go away on its own… right?
Still, You got to eat first with the other mates, well the mates minus Soonyoung. He may have been Seungcheol’s mate but 1.) he was a wolf unlike the other mates and 2.) he was a male wolf so he ate just as much as the other boys did. So they didn’t think it fair that he get to eat with all of you. Or them…. Or-whatever. You didn’t know, you just knew they offered you and the other girls food first and, considering you used to have to hunt for your food or you didn’t get to eat, you were definitely NOT complaining. Soonyoung though, you learned, had a tendency to whine about any and everything that he didn’t like.
“Aww come on again! No fair! (Y/N)’s just as much of a wolf as I am! Why does SHE get to eat first when I don’t??” Soonyoung decided to voice aloud, grabbing his plate with both hands and semi-patiently waiting for his turn to grab food.
You didn’t mind of course. You did think he had a point. It didn’t seem fair to him. Either he should be eating with the other mates, or you should be eating with the other wolves. So you agreed.
“He’s got a point. I should be eating with the other wolves. I eat more than the other girls after all” you shrugged matter of factly to the lead alpha, who was also his mate, who was hunched over the stove making said breakfast.
The thing is, Seungcheol did understand the argument. And he personally saw merit to the concerns, whether it was because it was a genuine point or whether it was just from months of his mate complaining about it, he didn’t know. Still, he saw it’s reasonings and thought they could be sound.
BUUUT, he also knew that SOMEBODY would definitely NOT be happy if you had to wait and fight the boys for food. It seemed everyone, wolves and mates alike, but you understood that Jihoon had imprinted on you already. Maybe you just didn’t know much about it, or maybe you knew and just decided you didn’t want to know, either way, it wasn’t for him to decide or judge.
So, as he looked over to the table of boys who were ACTUALLY patiently waiting their turn to dig in, his eyes landed on Jihoon, who shook his head and narrowed his eyes at the older wolf in return. Of course you didn’t notice this action, you were always more in your own head than you were in conversations.
“Sucks to suck kids. I make the rules and I say you eat with the mates. End of story. Sorry love!” he declared, once again moving his eyes ever so slightly to Jihoon, who nodded his head slightly as he smiled triumphantly.
He was NOT about to let his newfound mate eat the other mates leftovers with the other wolves. No. That was absolutely NOT happening. He may not have “officially” expressed that you were his mate, but he’d be damned if he wasn’t gonna do everything in his power to make sure you were happy, healthy, and well fed.
“But-” you argued, trying to bring your point’s validity up to him again.
“But nothing (Y/N). Sure you eat more than the other girls. But you DEFINITELY don’t eat as much as the boys do. Even if you are a wolf. Besides you’re one of-” he trailed off just as someone around the room hit the table slightly and coughed. Everyone but you realized where he was going with that sentence, and Jihoon wasn’t ready to face that just yet.
“-One of our guests.” Seungcheol thought after a moment, clearly lying his ass off but hoping he did a good enough job that you didn’t notice. Luckily for him, you weren’t all that great at social cues. “Therefore you shall not be eating whatever’s left, you’ll get first dibs with the other girls.” He said as he sat one of the plates of remaining food left from what the mates couldn’t eat down on the table, kissing his pouting mates forehead in the process.
“Don’t worry about Soonyoung. He’s just a baby. He’ll get over it. You deserve to be eating with the mates.” Spoke the smallest boy of the pack with a smile that seemed to light up as bright as a bonfire whenever you looked him in the eyes. He was the one that had your heart singing whenever you were in the same room. His little declaration made your cheeks heat up.
“O-Okay, I guess. I still don’t think I’ve done anything to deserve the special treatment… but thank you” you resolved with a polite smile back, doing your best to hide the pink covering your face. His heart rate sped up to jackrabbit speed as his inner wolf seemed to beamed at your answer.
“No (Y/N). Thank YOU.” Hansol retorted with a shit eating grin on his face. What he wanted to say was “thanks for helping one of the assholes in the group become juuuuust a little less of an asshole by being his mate,” but obviously he couldn’t do that without getting his ass beat.
“Thank me? Thank me for what?” You questioned, genuinely curious as to what he was thanking you for. You hadn’t done anything to warrant a thank you… had you?
“Oh nothing. Don’t worry about it. You’ll find out… eventually” He let out, looking at Jihoon, earning a smack from the older wolf and a small growl. Though he whined for a second, Hansol still began to laugh at his actions.
“…Okaaaay…” you said, trying your best to forget the conversation as a whole so you could eat the remains of your pancakes. Man these guys are weird.
-
Jihoon wasn’t sure exactly what he should do. He knew he couldn’t deny his instincts forever. But he wasn’t so sure about this whole “mate” thing. I mean, who was he kidding, he got along better on his own. He survived on his own for his entire life, at the orphanage, at school, even in his pack. For the most part, he kept to himself. He was SEVERELY independent, and he liked it that way. People just always managed to bring attachments and strings. Even still, He couldn’t cut off his pack. I mean don’t get him wrong, he loved those idiots and would do anything for them, but fuck, if they didn’t have the dumbest ideas and get themselves into the stupidest shit sometimes.
He knew his survival instinct told him to just ignore the feelings he had for you and act like nothing happened to protect himself. It’s not like you had noticed anyways. But the wolf part of him loved the idea of having a mate. For the longest time, he had to sit around and watch his brothers find their mates and fall in deep love. He watched Seungcheol find Soonyoung first a few months after he had met him. Then Joshua found his mate, Mina, after a few weeks of knowing him. Even little Channie imprinted on his mate, Somi, after just two days of Jihoon being acquainted with him.
Before he knew it, it was just him left without one. They always seemed so… happy and he just… wasn’t. He didn’t mind of course. He was glad his brothers found happiness. But he soon came to realize how lonely being alone truly was. He’d see his pack and their mates do cute things and, his heart was struck with a dull pain that never seemed to lessen, and at the time he didn’t understand why that was. But when he saw you, he knew the whole time he was yearning for you. When he saw you, for once he didn’t completely loathe the idea of taking care of or protecting another person. Even if it meant becoming one of the “lovey people.” He saw you and, one bat of your beautiful eyelashes and he knew, he would gladly lay his life down for you. How could he not?
You were caring and kind, even if you didn’t like to show it. You held yourself high, even if you were small. You were little, but you were mighty. You were smart, yet funny. You hardly spoke, but when you did, it was always something memorable. You never seemed to hold your true self back. He already knew that you were Perfect for him, even if he’d hardly spoken to you. He just couldn’t help the sane part of him that was very weary of the whole situation.
As Jihoon debated his true feelings for you over his breakfast, the other wolves went and conversed with each other. They tried to speak to you too, but you never really had a lot to say. You preferred to listen, which they weren’t all that surprised at. Jihoon was the quiet, calm, smart wolf, so it’s no surprise that his mate was the same way. You’d both always seem to get lost in thought almost simultaneously. You’d both come back to Earth at the same time too, always with very similar excuses.
Though everytime your eyes met, you’d both look away, trying your best to hide the blushes that spread across both your cheeks. It was kind of cute and the pack loved that their brother wouldn’t have to be all alone any longer. He’d no longer have to just sit on the side lines while they all had the time of their lives. He now had you, even if you didn’t realize it yet. You could both be Lonely Together.
Another Author’s Note: I know this chapter is relatively short compared to the others I’ve written so far, but honestly, your girls tired as fuck. I work a full time job, go to school full time, and take care of a lot of my family’s household. Let’s just be lucky I can write at all. Plus, I wrote Wonwoo’s story earlier today too. So let’s just call it a success and I’ll write a better chapter for him next time!

Summertime Sadness - Ch.21
Word count: 1213
Warnings: Angst, sadness, fluff
Author’s note: The last chapter! Thank you all for the support through this entire series! I think I really grew with my writing, and this was my largest project yet! I really hope you enjoy!
Song Suggestion: Give Me Love by Ed Sheeran
“I love you too, Y/F/N Y/L/N.” Josh’s voice was soft, and he placed little kisses all over your bare shoulder.
“I’m so sleepy,” you yawned.
“Me too, let’s sleep in the car.” Josh stood up and threw on a t-shirt and basketball shorts he had packed in his car.
“I don’t have any clothes besides for my dress,” you said as you wrapped yourself in a blanket.
“I came prepared.” Josh shuffled around in his Jeep before pulling out a pair of sweatpants and one of his t-shirts. He handed you them, and you threw them on. They smelled like Josh, and you were hoping he would let you keep them after he left to Washington.
Josh laid down the back seats and created a little bed with pillows and blankets so you both could sleep in the back and be comfortable. You both got tucked in, and you nuzzled under Josh’s shoulder.
“I can’t believe you leave tomorrow,” you mumbled. You started to think back on the summer. Good memories and bad memories.
You had no idea that the boy you met at a party would impact your life so much.
You had no idea that an older boy with gauges and tattoos could hurt you so much, yet make you fall in love so quickly and deeply.
You wanted to spend the rest of your life with Josh, and you wanted to help him and support him through everything.
“Y/N, why are you crying?” Josh asked when he noticed teardrops falling on his chest.
“I’m going to miss you, you’re the best thing that has ever happened to me.”
“You’re the best thing that has ever happened to me too, but I promise everything will be okay. We can facetime, we can call, and I’ll be home for the holidays.”
“Promise you won’t leave me?”
“I promise, Y/N, I love you and only you.”
“I love you, even more, Joshua.” You closed your eyes and the next thing you knew you were sleeping on a snoring Josh.
     *      *     *     *     *     *
“Good morning my love,” Josh whispered into your ear. You opened your eyes, being blinded by the sunlight.
“Josh?” you looked around trying to remember where you were, and the memories of last night came back to you. “Josh.”
“I’m right here, my love.”
“I could get used to that,” you chuckled.
“What?”
“My love! I like when you call me that,” you told him. You sat up more, rubbing the sleep out of your eyes and fixing your hair that had fallen out.
“You’re always going to be my love,” he kissed your forehead. “We need to get going though, I need to leave by noon. It’s going to be a long few days of driving.”
“I wish I could come with you,” you mumbled, knowing that there was no way and that these were your last few hours with him.
“I know, but we are going to go back to my house first to finish packing the stuff I haven’t shipped there, and then I’ll drop you off at your house.”
“Okay,” you said sadly. You really did not want to let him go, but there was nothing you could do. The road trip back to his house was spent with you belting out Awolnation, and giving Josh his own little concert.
“I don’t think I’ve ever sung that loud before,” you yelled over the music.
“You’re such a good singer, I really think that you should Tyler’s place in the band.”
“Speaking of the band, what’s going to happen with that?”
Josh shrugged, “He is still going to write music and we are going to try to make it work.”
“That’s good because the band is getting so big! Maybe one day you will be so famous that you get noticed in public places! Or people will make fan accounts of you and stuff!”
“That sounds horrible, plus I don’t want people stalking every move I do.”
“Maybe people will write fanfiction about you,” you giggled.
“Oh god, I don’t even want to think about that.” Josh grabbed your hand and he held it all the way back to his apartment. He parked his jeep and you helped him take in the blankets and pillows so there was enough room for his boxes and suitcases.
You helped him pack up the last of his clothes. He had already shipped kitchen essentials as well as bedding and stuff like that. He was moving into an already furnished apartment so he didn’t need too much.
“Is it weird going to college for the first time being so old?” you asked while you packed his toiletries.
“Not really, I wanted some gap years to figure myself out.”
“I’m glad you did.”
You and Josh brought out each box and suitcase one by one until his Jeep couldn’t hold anymore. You climbed into the passenger seat and watched Josh lock the front door to his apartment.
The car ride to your house was spent with you holding in your tears, and Josh rubbing his thumb over your hand that he was holding tight. He pulled in front of your house and you both looked at each other.
He grabbed your face and gave you one last long passionate kiss. The last one for a while. When he pulled away he rested his forehead against yours, and you both stayed like that for a few seconds.
“I love you, Dun,” you whispered.
“I love you too, Y/L/N.”
“I’m going to miss you, so much.”
“I’ll miss you more.”
“Impossible,” you smiled. You looked up into his big brown eyes. You studied his face, just so that you wouldn’t forget it. You focused on his soft lips, and his nose ring, and his wrinkles next to his eyes when he smiled.
You opened the door and hopped out. You closed the door and walked to your door before turning around, and blowing a kiss to Josh. He pretended to catch it and bring it to his heart.
“Bye, Y/L/N,” he waved as he started his jeep and started to drive away.
“Goodbye, Joshua.” Your vision became blurry as the Jeep got smaller and smaller. Once you couldn’t see it anymore, your world felt like it stopped. You could feel your heartbeat in your stomach, and it was hard to catch your breath. “Goodbye.”
Your heart ached, not like when it felt broken from earlier in the summer, but a different type of ache. One where it felt like it could still function, but was missing something so it wasn’t functioning fully. It felt empty, yet heavier.
You walked inside your house and ignored your family asking if you were okay. You were numb, and the world was moving slowly as if it was a few frames behind. You laid on your bed and looked up at your ceiling. Your phone buzzed and you grabbed to see you got a text from Josh already.
I miss you already. Just like how the stars miss the sun in the morning sky.
You held your phone next to your chest and breathed in heavily. You had already started counting down the days until you saw Josh again.
The End.

ED SHEERAN & JUSTIN BIEBER - I DON'T CARE
[3.00]
Take his hand, stop, or ban the man from the Jukebox?
Jacob Sujin Kuppermann: "At a party I don't want to be at" is exactly how this song makes me feel. [2]
Taylor Alatorre: "I Don't Care" is a layer cake of falsehoods. From the opening chord progression you can already guess that this is not going to be a song that explores alienation or nonconformity in any serious, sustained way, but a conventionally reassuring tune in which all worries are resolved through the timely intercession of "my baby." That alone is not disqualifying, but the moments where Bieber and Sheeran try to convince us there's something behind all this nothing are the moments where the song's flimsy foundations are laid bare. In lieu of worldbuilding, they serve us a handful of attention-grabbing lyrics such as "crippled by anxiety" and "I hate everyone here" -- lyrics that, in their suddenness, only highlight how unearned they are. What exactly is so terrible about these parties they keep getting invited to and inexplicably attending? We'll never know. It doesn't help that the Max Martin/Shellback production is as nondescript as can be, aiming for the intersection of dancehall and trop house and instead landing somewhere in an empty field with no recognizable landmarks. [2]
Andy Hutchins: Thank goodness for the fizzy-yet-restrained production by Max Martin and Shellback, the very necessary flotation device for what could otherwise be a dark, honest song about codependency that verges on the deeply creepy. Biebs does admit to anxiety in a brief emergence from his twin ongoing crises -- would you rather be under the Hillsong trance or pondering having Stephen Baldwin as a father-in-law? -- but this is otherwise either a party jam about the wisdom of not going to parties, a lane Alessia Cara pretty effectively drove a few years back, or a song about loving the one you're with and hating everyone else, something that Ellie Goulding, Swae Lee, and Fucking Diplo somehow made a better endeavor six months ago. I will be here for Billie Eilish figuring out, some time from now, that there is one hell of a dirge to be salvaged from this; I am not here for this as currently constructed now, nor ever. [3]
Stephen Eisermann: This definitely makes me miss Justin Bieber's material (which, WHAT), but it feels a bit too timid to be the superstar collaboration that it is. I do think that the song does a good job of placing Sheeran's and Bieber's styles together, but rather than sounding good, it proves that the two styles don't blend well. It's not bad, it's just not enough. [4]
Nicholas Donohoue: This is the logical trend line for Bieber and Sheeran. They've essentially been swapping and converging towards musical ideas for the past four years. A track where you struggle to distinguish the two and no complexity is added to a drum beat plus a groan of a melody line about how parties suck, but your girlfriend is nice is very correct for the both of them and very bland for the rest of us. [2]
Alex Clifton: It's a classic Ed Sheeran composition, which is to say it's catchy with at least one feature I hate (in this case, it's the howling the "OOH OOH OOH OOH" bit). Surprisingly this lacks the overly revealing lyrics that are the hallmark of Sheeran songs, and it tones down the sappiness so we're not stuck with any kissing toothbrushes. It's just... fine, though. For a song about anxiety and letting go, I really wish there were more musical movement instead of being ebullient all the way through -- having a hooky chorus paired with slower or more fraught sections might've been a bit too on the nose, but I need something. I'm glad that Bieber is talking publicly about his mental health struggles but when he sings about being "crippled with anxiety" I don't go there with him because the production won't let me. Had the verses been taken in a different direction this might've been more successful overall, but hell if it's not going to be stuck in my head for the next week. [4]
Alfred Soto: A shrewd son of a bitch who writes dumb songs whose hooks he encrusts with tetanus, Ed Sheeran pairs with the only pop star whose ubiquity has fuck all to do with his compassion, brains, or looks. Bieber and Sheeran's harmonies provide the only known moment of sympathy in the former's recording career, but it doesn't enliven or inhabit this "Shape of You" knockoff. [4]
Iris Xie: It's just so tired. Even the whistling sounds under duress, like they were forced to make a pop song under gunpoint because Scooter Braun is in competition with Kris Jenner for the most amount of $$$$ before 2019 is over. I'd be a lot more interested in the storyline around such a vapid song and how on earth these two pop stars could make such a soulless song. The fake trumpet and lack of harmonies sound like a bullshit essay that you would scrawl and drop off into your 8th grade English teacher's mailbox. [0]
Scott Mildenhall: If Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber and you, the listener, were the only three people to ever feel disaffected, this single would be met with confusion. Luckily, alienation is further from being the exception than the rule, so it's actually at the top of the charts. With that in mind, would it not be more realistic to offer listeners a chink of light, rather than relaying the destructive instinct that everyone else is so much more together (and so much more shallow) than they are? This is far from the first song to play into that temptation, and perhaps it can build community by implication, but even that is undermined by the upshot that this is, above all, a love song. Sheeran and Bieber feel saved by the ones they have with them, and that is "I Don't Care"'s core. It has less to say for those who don't feel saved. [5]
Katherine St Asaph: The problem isn't the premise -- we've had centuries of songs about how parties rule, we can handle a few more about how they suck. (And Sheeran and Bieber are at the level of fame where they're probably thinking of industry parties, their own circle of hell.) Nor is it the over-chill production, for once. Nor is it how it reminds me of Dream's far superior "I Don't Like Anyone." Nor is it even the tangents about "not fitting in" that are one line away from "A lot of preps stared at me. I put up my middle finger at them." The problem is that Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber, as they do, make it all about their seduction skills. The heterosexual girl who'd be charmed by "shall we dance" would probably prefer her boyfriend in a suit and tie, or at least in something that took more than five seconds' worth of effort. Justin Bieber's confession of anxiety is about as convincing as ex Selena Gomez's, and using it to flirt is offputting at best. And there's a promise with this premise after all: If the party sucks so much, why not just leave? [4]
Joshua Copperman: Clearly! [3]

Shape of You - Ed Sheeran
Word Count: 2054
Requested: By Anon
Pairing: Josh Dun x Reader
Warning: Smut
A/N: I’m sorry if this sucks but I have never done anything like this before. Let me know if you guys like it. I’m also not using all the lyrics. I also got a bit carried away, let me know if there should be a part 2??
The club isn’t the best place to find a lover
So the bar is where I go
You walk into your local bar with your friends ready for a good night. You heard that a semi famous band are playing tonight but you haven’t heard what their name is. Your friends and you set yourself up in a little booth close to the stage. Two of your friends, Taylor and Ruby, head off to the bar to get drinks for all of you. While you wait for your other friends to come back you sit with the other friend, Michone.
“I wonder who is playing tonight.” I say to Michone.
“Yeah I hope they are good.” She said back.
You look over at the stage to see a man setting up the stage for the performer. It was just a local man playing with his guitar. Michone and I sit there listening to the sweet tone.
Taylor and Ruby come back to the table with some shots.
 “Shots!” They yell.
You grab one and swallow it straight away.
Me and my friends at the table doing shots
Drinking fast and then we talk slow
The man on the stage finishes his last song and the club start to play their songs when you finish your 4th shot feeling a bit tipsy. Your friends head to the dancefloor and ask if you want to join.
“I’ll be there in a second.” You answer.
You walk up to the bar and sit on the stool. Striking a little conversation with the bar tender. You feel someone sit next to you on the stool.
Come over and start up a conversation with just me
And trust me I’ll give it a chance now
“What’s a lovely lady doing at the bar all alone?” The man asks.
You turn your head around to be met with no other than the famous Joshua Dun. Man he looks good up this close.
“Y-your Josh Dun.” You say, stuttering a little.
“Sure am, are you a fan? What’s your name?” He asks with his squinty smile.
“My name is Y/N and I am a huge fan, you guys helped me through so much so thank you.” You say honestly.
“Well that means a lot. Do you want to dance, Y/N?” He asks you.
“I’d love to, uh I mean sure.”
You both get up and head to the dance floor.
And then we start to dance, and now I’m singing like.
Girl, you know I want your love
Your love was handmade for somebody like me
You start dancing with Josh and he spins you around so your back is against him. You start to move against his body feeling the music. You start to sing along enjoying this moment. You turn back around to face him and you grab the back of his neck and dance with him. A few songs later and your friends come over to you.
Come on now, follow my lead
I may be crazy, don’t mind me
“Hey, Y/N we are heading off. Are you coming?” Ruby asks.
“Um.” You say while looking over at Josh.
“No it’s okay, I got her.” Josh answered.
Michone gives you a look to say ‘holy crap that’s Joshua Dun’. You nod at her and smile widely. After they left Josh turned to you.
“I would love to get to know you more Y/N. Do you want to come back to mine to hang?” He asks.
“Sure. I would love to get to know you too. You aren’t going to kill me are you?”
“No. Definitely not. I promise.” He laughs.
“Okay. Well let’s go.”
He smiles and grabs your hand taking you outside and to his car. The ride to his house was full of laughter and stories.
“And she turned around to me and yelled right in my face and spit went everywhere. It was so gross.” Josh was telling you a story.
“Man that’s so bad.” You say while laughing.
Josh moves his hand over to your thigh and laughs. You look at his hand and blush. You guys make it back to his house and enter.
“Wow, what an amazing place you have here. Do you share it with anyone?” You ask.
“No, it’s just me living here. Gets a bit lonely sometimes. I know that’s weird to say because normally Tyler is over.” He answers.
“You and Tyler have sleepovers? That’s so cute.”
“Shut up.” He said while blushing.
We walk into his room.
“Man this drum kit is amazing, where’d you get it from?” You ask.
“I got it ages ago from a local music store. What, are you into drumming too?” Josh said.
“Oh, a little bit. I’m not that good at it.” You answer.
“Have a go.” He said.
You think about it for a little bit. You don’t see the problem with it. You walk around the drum kit and sit down. You grab his drum sticks and look up at him.
“Have any songs in mind?” You ask Josh.
“Uhh, do you know how to play any of our songs?” He asks.
“Yeah I know all of them except for Fairly Local. I’ve been stuck on that one for a while.” You say.
“Okay why not The Judge.”
You spun one of the drum sticks around your finger and started the beat of The Judge. You knew this was one of Josh’s favourite songs from Blurryface so you knew you couldn’t screw it up in front of him. You continue for a while closing your eyes while hitting the drums.
This was one of the things you did that calmed you down. You were also told that you were good at singing but you didn’t believe them. You thought you’d give it a go though so you started to sing the chorus of the song. After a while you thought you should stop. You opened your eyes to look at Josh. He was staring at you with his mouth wide open.
“Sorry I guess I got a little into it.”
“No, don’t say sorry that was amazing. Do you know how good you are both drums and singing?”
“Oh I guess I’m not that bad.”
He walked around to you and grabbed your shoulders to stand you up. You were really close to your idol.
“You are really talented Y/N. Believe in yourself.” He whispers.
He looks down at your lips and breaths in harshly. You look at his eyes and bite your lip.
“Y/N please don’t do that.” He said while running his thumb over your bottom lip.
“What do you me-“You were cut off by his lovely lips meeting yours.
He takes control of the kiss and it gets heated. He pushes you against the wall
Say, boy, let’s not talk too much
Grab on my waist and put that body on me
Come on now, follow my lead
He grabs your waist and continues to kiss you like tonight’s the last time he’ll be able to see you. He lifts you up and you wrap your legs around his torso. He spins around and walks you to his bed and places you down, not breaking contact at all. He runs his hands along your side really gently. You grab his hand and place it on your boob. He breaks away from the kiss.
“Y/N this was definitely not my intention. I really just wanted to get to know you more.” He softly said.
This is why everyone loved Josh. All his fans knew he was a lovely, calm and gentle man. You loved that he was so gentle but when it came to his drums he went all out with all of his passion for his fans. He loved his fans with all his heart. So did Tyler and you knew that.
“Josh. Please I want this. Trust me, you don’t know what I felt watching videos of you drumming or watching you at concerts doing what you love. It drove me insane.” You say.
He looked down at you. He smiled and leant back down. He lightly kissed your lips and moved to your neck to kiss and nibble at it. You moved your head to the side so he could get better access. He placed his hand back on your boob squeezing it. You arch your back.
He slips both hands down to your hem and slides it up. You lift your upper body up so he could slip the shirt off you. You are in a sitting position and Josh leans over and kisses you hard. He grabs one of your cheeks and holds it. You wrap your hand around to his hair and lightly pull at it. He uses one hand to unclasp your bra. He slides it off your shoulders. He starts to pinch your nipple.
“Josh.” You moan into his mouth.
You grab his shirt and rip it off him.
I’m in love with the shape of you
We push and pull like a magnet do
Although my heart is falling too
I’m in love with your body
He grabs your pants and yanks them down. He sits up a little and looks at your underwear. It was your favourite lingerie and by the look on Josh’s face he liked it too. You saw him look over to where he threw your clothes and saw that your bra matched it.
“Holy fuck.” He whispered but you heard it.
He slid them off your legs and crawled up your body to be face to face with you. You wrap your legs around his torso to pull him closer to you. You lean down to take his pants and boxers off him. You look into his eyes.
“Y/N we really don’t have to do this. We can just go back to talking. I’m really starting to like you. I just want to get to know you.”
You kiss him to let him know you want this.  He grabs your face and kisses you harder. He runs his tongue on your bottom lip asking, begging for permission to play with your own tongue. You allow him to. He slides his finger down your side making you shiver. He grabs your waist with one hand and the other is still on your face.
“You aren’t a virgin, are you? Not that being a virgin is a problem it’s just I don’t want to rush you into anything.”
“No Josh I am not. Are you though?”
“Nope.”
“Mm, good.” You say while going back to kissing him.
He quickly leans over to open his bedside table. He gets out a condom and slips it on.
“You ready?”
“Yes, Josh.”
He pushes into you making sure you’re always okay. He moves in and out.
“Josh, please go faster.”
He listens to you and moves at a faster pace. Kissing your neck and leaning on his arm above your head.
“You know you are absolutely gorgeous.” Josh said.
“Josh.” You moan.
“This isn’t just it for us either, I want to see you after this.”
“Can we talk later?” You say.
You grind against his dick and he groans. You roll Josh over so you’re on top of him. You flip your hair to one side and lean down to kiss him, bouncing on top of him.
You hear his little pants and swear words. You move faster while moving your hips back and forth.
“Princess I’m close.” He said.
“Me too.”
You start to feel it build in your stomach. About to bubble over. You looked into his eyes and you could tell he was about to hit his edge. You moved at the same speed and then it hits you. You grab the bedsheets next to Josh’s face and squeeze it while moaning. You slow down but still move to help Josh get to his high and his follows shortly after yours. You roll next to him and lean against his chest.
“Y/N I wasn’t just using you. I really do want to see you and not just in my bed, although I wouldn’t mind doing this again. But only if you want to.”
“Josh, I’d love to see you again. You’re lovely to be around already.” You say while snuggling up to him.
“Good.”

Ayyy a question thingy I was tagged in.
100 Questions No One Asks
I was tagged by my name twin @thedancingsim. <3
The questions and answers are under the cut because wow lol that’s a lotta questions!
1. DO YOU SLEEP WITH YOUR CLOSET DOORS OPEN OR CLOSED?
When I had a door, I slept with it closed. Now I have a little doorway that leads into the kitchen, like a bachelor suite so it is open... as there is NO door. But I’m slowly getting used to it.
2. DO YOU TAKE THE SHAMPOOS AND CONDITIONER BOTTLES FROM HOTELS?
If I stayed at hotels often, I would. The last time I stayed in one, I didn’t take anything, though.
3. DO YOU SLEEP WITH YOUR SHEETS TUCKED IN OR OUT?
They stay tucked in, I rarely ever sleep with the little flat sheet. I used to when it was hot, because I can’t sleep without something covering me, but now that I live in a little basement suite, it’s always cold so i can use my blanket.
4. HAVE YOU STOLEN A STREET SIGN BEFORE?
I can’t say that I have, no!
5. DO YOU LIKE TO USE POST-IT NOTES?
I tell myself yes so I can justify buying them, but I never do.
Yes, same here. I wish I used them.
6. DO YOU EVER CUT OUT COUPONS BUT NEVER USE THEM?
I haven’t cut out coupons yet, but I have a feeling I will eventually in the next few months haha.
7. WOULD YOU RATHER BE ATTACKED BY A BIG BEAR OR A SWARM OF BEES?
Bees because I think I would have a chance of outrunning them or jumping into water.
I’m going to go ahead and agree with this as well.
8. DO YOU HAVE FRECKLES?
They mostly start sprinkling my nose in the summer, uner the sun.
9. DO YOU ALWAYS SMILE FOR PICTURES?
Generally, yes.
10. WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST PET PEEVE?
Racist/homophobic/transphobic/etc. people who are unwilling to listen and understand how absolutely absurd their opinions on those matters are.
Tèa had such a great answer, that I’m going to leave it, because honestly I’m so laid back and in my own world that I rarely let things get to me for very long.
11. DO YOU EVER COUNT YOUR STEPS WHEN YOU WALK?
Not my steps, but I have a habit of counting any stairs I’m on. Always.
12. HAVE YOU EVER PEED IN THE WOODS?
Several times. One of my best friends likes to go walking in woods in the middle of the night, which is super great, especially when he purposely tells me about a ghost story just before we go into the woods, and I often end up peeing in the woods because I never go before I leave the house.
13. HAVE YOU EVER POOPED IN THE WOODS?
No.
14. DO YOU EVER DANCE EVEN IF THERE’S NO MUSIC PLAYING?
There’s always music in my head, but yes I have done this.
15. DO YOU CHEW YOUR PENS AND PENCILS?
Nah, I’m a writer, I respect the pens and pencils too much.
16. HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE YOU SLEPT WITH THIS WEEK?
None, I like to be alone recently.
17. WHAT IS THE SIZE OF YOUR BED?
It’s technically a twin right now, but once I get the second mattress, it will be a king size. It’s a daybed from IKEA.
18. WHAT IS YOUR SONG OF THE WEEK?
I have been on a Hot Chelle Rae kick lately, so either Tonight Tonight, or Honestly. They are such a great summer band.
19. IS IT OK FOR GUYS TO WEAR PINK?
It’s okay for anyone to wear whatever they want, what do I care?
21. DO YOU STILL WATCH CARTOONS?
Not really! I watch animated Disney and Pixar, but that’s it.
21. WHAT IS YOUR LEAST FAVORITE MOVIE?
Paranormal Activity.
i’m also going to stick with Téa’s answer for this one, because another friend of mine likes to have wine night and watch horror movie night because apparently i’m HILARIOUS to scare the shit out of and this is one of the movies he enjoys making me watch.
I should get better friends??
22. WHERE WOULD YOU BURY HIDDEN TREASURE IF YOU HAD SOME?
Omg I don’t even know, but I’d probably build something over it, too for extra safe keeping.
23. WHAT DO YOU DRINK WITH DINNER?
Water or soda.
24. WHAT DO YOU DIP A CHICKEN NUGGET IN?
Barbecue sauce 100%
25. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE FOOD?
Ugh I don’t even know how to answer this. I love shrimp, Panda Express, tacos.. my mom made this wonderful crab bake and invited me over for dinner last night and it was so good.
26. WHAT MOVIES COULD YOU WATCH OVER AND OVER AGAIN AND STILL LOVE?
Zathura, How to train Your Dragon (1&2), Harry Potter, Hunger Games (Except the first one)... honestly I rewatch a lot of movies.
27. LAST PERSON, YOU KISSED/ KISSED YOU?
I made out with my boyfriend the other night at his friends’ house out on the balcony while he was loaded. Hi Joshua.
28. WERE YOU EVER A BOY/GIRL SCOUT?
I was a girl scout, for probabl one season, but I did do a lot of boy scout stuff with my brother and my mom when my brother was in the scouts.
29. WOULD YOU EVER STRIP OR POSE NUDE IN A MAGAZINE?
UNLIKELY.
30. WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU WROTE A LETTER TO SOMEONE ON PAPER?
I wrote something to my mom I want to say two years ago, but I never sent it.
31. CAN YOU CHANGE THE OIL ON A CAR?
No, but I do get a discount for being a student.

50+ Songs About Crushes for When You’ve Got It Bad

Or the next big terrifying thing, depending on your point of view.
Crushes come in many shapes and sizes. Maybe your crush is on someone you’ve known for a while and you’re only just realizing it. Top 7 of 2017
This year has been a year of "dry" music listening for me. Even though I finally got Spotify this year and started listening to their song suggestions... I've still found myself most comfortable listening to funk, pop, acoustic groove stuff at the end of the day!
So without further ado, here is my Top 7 of 2017 (decided to lower it from 10... Because who listens to WHOLE albums that much anymore?)
7. Scary Pockets - Scary Pockets
Tumblr media
This great little funk cover band BARELY made it into my top 7 narrowly beating out Foo Fighters and Calvin Harris’ 2017 albums!  Re-imagined funk covers of modern hits like: “I Feel It Coming”. “Paris”, “Shape of You”, and much more make this worth checking out!  There are some hits and misses here, but I’m sure there will be something everyone can enjoy.
6. Jamiroquai - Automaton
Tumblr media
After 7 years in the shadows, the super funk and acid jazz band has re-surfaced with an album of futuristic proportions!  It took me a while to get into this album, but in the end, I really started to get captured by songs like: “Cloud 9″, “Superfresh”, “Summer Girl” and yes even the minor key (with key change) title track, “Automaton”.  Enjoy the sound of funk for the future!
5. Ed Sheeran - Divide (Deluxe)
Tumblr media
The most famous singer-songwriter on the planet has created another best-selling album this year.  Although I didn’t enjoy the majority of the songs like “Galway Girl”, but I still really liked a lot of it!  I believe “Shape of You” was most played song of the year and its pop sensibilities deserved that award.  Great songs include: “Castle on the Hill”, “What Do I Know”, “Dive”, and John Mayer guest-starring track, “How Would You Feel (Paean)”
4. U2 - Songs of Experience (Deluxe Edition)
Tumblr media
How does the “Best Band on the Planet” follow up the album they made every iTunes user download their last album whether they wanted to or not?  They put out an album that tries to further evolve and modernize their (already) eclectic sound.  After being ABSOLUTELY ROCKED at their Joshua Tree album, it was quite refreshing to listen to this (whole) album on long commutes.  Songs on repeat: “Lights of Home - St. Peter’s String Version)”, “The Blackout”, “You’re The Best Thing About Me”, “Get Out of Your Own Way”.
3. Dave Barnes - Who Knew Vol. 1 EP
Tumblr media
This EP that only recently released could not have come at a BETTER time.  I needed some new music and Dave Barnes (ALMOST) always delivers!  So glad he has returned to his funky, groovy, Motown-ish roots!  If you dig my taste in music, you GOT to get DB’s latest album!   I will probably evangelize his album whenever I can, and I even incepted my son, who now REALLY digs the first song on this ep album!  Go check out “Runs in the Family”!
2.  B. Reith - Heart On My Sleeve (Acoustic EP)
Tumblr media
If you like acoustic pop of any nature, you GOTTA listen to B. Reith (now known as Brian Reith).  Sorry there is no Spotify link, you can only listen to his music via iTunes or Apple Music.  This is one of the best acoustic guitar groovy music arrangement of songs I’ve heard in a while, so do yourself a favor and GET THIS EP ALBUM!  There‘s a reason it‘s #2 on my list!!!
Songs of the moment: “Roll With The Punches”, “Can‘t Stop Loving You”
1. John Mayer - The Search for Everything
Tumblr media
Last but not least, the return of the master, the originator, the douche. the self-centered, ok... you get the picture.  John Mayer has been SUPER polarizing as a person, but man... this man is a musical GENIUS!  If you don’t believe me, listen to each song and tell me I’m crazy!  This album has so much groove you will find yourself tapping along, wanted to sing with JM, “I still keep your shampoo in my shower, in case your want to wash your hair.  And I know that you probably found yourself some more somewhere, but I do not really care, cause as long as it is there... I still feel like your man...” #absoluteGOLD
Anyways, do yourself a favor, BUY YOURSELF THIS ALBUM or stream it on Spotify!  I GUARANTEE you will NOT be disappointed.
Standout Songs: SFLYM, In the Blood, Moving On and Getting Over, Rosie, Helpless, Changing... pretty much EVERY song on the record! ;)  Even the “Theme from ‘The Search for Everything’” is my alarm clock ringtone to wake up!
Happy New Year and May God bless you all!

Ariana Grande, Arctic Monkeys and The 1975 prepare new albums for 2018
Image copyright Getty Images
Musically-speaking, 2017 was a roller coaster.
Ed Sheeran literally broke the charts, a Spanish-language song became the year’s biggest single, and Taylor Swift sampled Right Said Fred.
Short of Rihanna covering Deeply Dippy, 2018 can’t get any weirder. But what do we have to look forward to?
Ariana Grande making the album of her career

Media captionRemembering One Love Manchester
Pop star Ariana Grande was undoubtedly changed by the terrorist atrocity at her concert in Manchester last May. The 24-year-old shouldered the emotional weight of the tragedy for her fans, and staged a defiantly uplifting benefit for the victims that proved pop had the power to heal.
The US star’s recently gone back into the studio and it will be interesting to see whether those experiences shape the music on her fourth album.
Grande’s long-time manager Scooter Braun hinted at a more mature sound, telling Variety magazine: “She has such an extraordinary voice and it’s time for her to sing the songs that define her.”
Pharrell, who is working on the album, added that her new material was “pretty amazing”.
“The things that she has to say on this album, it’s pretty next-level,” he told the LA times.
The 1975 going for broke

Matty Healy has lofty goals for The 1975’s third album, Music For Cars.
“If you look at third albums, OK Computer or The Queen Is Dead, that’s what we need to do,” he told the NME.
“I want people to look back and think our records were the most important pop records that a band put out in this decade.”
The star had previously called the album “the end of an era” for The 1975, to the horror of fans, who panicked the band were splitting up.
Healy assured them that wasn’t the case, telling Apple’s radio station Beats 1: “We were always going to do a trilogy of records. I’m not saying that after this album it’s the end of the 1975, but it’s definitely the end of an era.”
Jack White getting his gardening gloves on

“I’m getting somewhere,” said Jack White about the sessions for his third solo album, Boarding House Reach.
“It’s good gardening music or roofing music or, you know, back-alley stabbing music.
“I’m trying to think of some good activities that people haven’t written songs for yet.”
A trailer for the record features a chopped-up sound collage of ragtime piano, distorted digital fuzz, oscillating synths and White’s trademark blues riffs.
In other words, it’s probably best to keep White away from your lawnmower.
Beyonce reforming Destiny’s Child (maybe)
Image copyright Getty Images
OK, this is massively speculative but fans are convinced Beyonce will put Destiny’s Child back together when she headlines Coachella in April.
The evidence is flimsy at best, but let’s pick through it:
2018 marks the 20th anniversary of the band’s debut album.
Beyonce recently wore an AC/DC t-shirt, covering up everything but the letters “DC”, which are quite clearly the initials of Destiny’s Child.
Michelle Williams, one of the band’s many non-Beyonces, later posted a photo of her Destiny’s Child Super Bowl costume.
Original member LaTavia Roberson tweeted about a secret project she wasn’t allowed to talk about.
Er, that’s it…
As long as they do Bug-A-Boo, we’ll be happy.
A gender swap for Grime
Step aside Stormzy and stand down Skepta – 2018 will be the year where women take over Grime.
Stefflon Don leads the pack, after signing a million pound record deal with Universal earlier this year.
Her quick-fire one-liners and self-directed videos have already earned the Londoner a Mobo award for best female, while the top 10 hit, Hurtin’ Me showed off her singing voice. The stage is perfectly set for her debut album in the opening months of 2018.
Elsewhere, Little Simz, Nadia Rose and Lady Leshurr are also challenging the male-dominated landscape of British rap; while the streetwise soul of Jorja Smith, Ray BLK and Mabel are bringing a fresh female attitude to the charts.
POP coming back
Image copyright Getty Images
Not that it ever really went away – but 2018 is shaping up to be a year of massive pop bangers.
Selena Gomez, who released one of the best, and most-underrated songs of 2017 – Bad Liar – had plans for her album derailed by sickness. But after receiving a kidney transplant over the summer, she’s back to health and pressing ahead with her fourth album.
It’s being co-produced by Julia Michaels, an indispensible backroom writer who turned heads with her confessional solo single Issues earlier this year. The 24-year-old, who can currently be heard on Clean Bandit’s I Miss You, is also preparing an album of her own.
Speaking of Clean Bandit, they’ll presumably get around to finishing the record they’ve been working on since 2015, while Little Mix are dreaming up new music with production duo Electric, who crafted their chart smashes Black Magic and Shout Out To My Ex.
Canadian heart-throb Shawn Mendes says he’s “deep in album three land” and the “vibe is starting to become very clear”.
Chvrches have been working with Adele’s producer Greg Kurstin on their “most pop” album to date.
And following her break-up with Joshua Sasse, Kylie Minogue has recorded a series of “cathartic” and “story-based” tracks in Nashville.
That’s not all: Craig David, Christine and the Queens, Carly Rae Jepsen, Rita Ora, Liam Payne, Charli XCX, Sigrid, Tove Styrke, Zayn, Rae Morris, Billie Eilish and Camila Cabello all have new music lined up.
The Cure hitting middle age
Image copyright Getty Images
For a man who sleeps in a coffin, Robert Smith is surprisingly ageless… Or maybe that’s his secret?
Either way, 2018 marks the 40th anniversary of The Cure’s debut single, Killing An Arab, and the band have a whole raft of celebrations up their sleeve.
They’ll play a one-off show in London’s Hyde Park, supported by similarly moody bands like Interpol, Editors, Goldfrapp and Ride; and director Tim Pope has started work on a career-spanning documentary.

The film to which I will bring my own style of jiggery-pokery will use as well as ‘old favourites’ a cornucopia of material from Robert’s collection which has never been seen before: Super-8; interviews; bootlegs; rare performances; behind-the-scenes, blah. Updates ’as and when’.

Other big anniversaries include The Beatles’ White Album and Jimi Hendrix’s Electric Ladyland, which both turn 50 in 2018.
Meanwhile, Public Enemy’s It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back enters its 30s; and Bjork’s Debut celebrates its silver anniversary.
The streaming war heating up

Streaming now generates more money for the music industry than sales of CDs and downloads, but the market could be turned on its head next year.
YouTube is expected to launch its own subscription music service, internally known as YouTube Remix, in the first half of the year. If the company manages to convert just 0.45% of its 1.5 billion monthly users to a pay-monthly plan, it will become bigger than Spotify overnight.
Facebook has also been pouring resources into music, poaching several high-profile music executives for its global music team; and Facebook was offering record labels and music publishers “hundreds of millions of dollars” to sort out copyright issues with record labels and publishers.
Expect to see more acquisitions and mergers, too, as the major players seek to solidify their base.
2006 coming around again

Remember 2006? Prince performed at the Brits. Top of the Pops was cancelled. Justin Timberlake brought sexy back.
Well, now you can live it all over again, as the year’s best bands have all booked a return trip from the dumper.
Arctic Monkeys bassist Nick O’Malley recently told motorcycling magazine For The Ride that the band’s “new album will be out next year because if it isn’t, we’ve got problems”.
There’s also new music on the way from Lily Allen, whose comeback single Trigger Bang is the dictionary definition of “a pleasant surprise”; while The Streets are reforming for a greatest hits tour.
2006 faves Kate Nash, Fall Out Boy, The Fratellis and Vampire Weekend are also squirrelled away in the studio while Justin Timberlake himself will presumably “drop” new material ahead of his Super Bowl show in February.
Next thing you know, we’ll all be wearing ties as belts and watching High School Musical.
The Biggest Weekend being the festival to end all festivals
With Glastonbury on a gap year, the BBC is stepping into the fray with “The Biggest Weekend” a four-day, four-site mega-festival in May.
There’ll be stages in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, building on the success of Radio 1’s Big Weekend, which has attracted stars like Jay-Z, Kanye West, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Coldplay and Katy Perry in recent years.
More than 175,000 tickets will be available for the event – with more details coming early in 2018.

"The staging and what's behind me [are going to be different from my past tours]," he told ET recently. "I've put a lot of time and effort into it, and it's gonna look impressive. In terms of it being a show… now I can do a show where it's singles, which is something I haven't been able to do before."
6. Sam Hunt: Newlywed Hunt hits the “back road” with Maren Morris and Chris Janson on his 15 in a 30 Tour.
7. Lady Antebellum, Kelsea Ballerini: Keeping it country, Ballerini is joining her "big sis" Hillary Scott and Lady A on their You Look Good Tour. The group will perform 65 shows in six countries across three continents.
8. Bruno Mars: Meanwhile, Mars brings his 24K Magic Tour to North America beginning in July and rolling all the way into November.

14. Tim McGraw, Faith Hill: Country's reigning king and queen are back together onstage for their Soul2Soul Tour.
"Being together on stage and for me -- it's been 10 years since we actually did a proper tour together -- to be on stage with her and hear her sing every night, it's pretty special," McGraw told ET at the GRAMMYs this year. "We don't get to hear her sing very often, especially live, and so every night [I] really just look forward to hearing her and trying to keep up with her, which is the biggest problem for me!"
15. Solange: Fresh off her GRAMMY win for Best R&B Performance, Solange is embarking on her first tour since 2013 to promote her album, A Seat at the Table.
16. Hanson: Honorable mention goes out for Hanson, who are kicking off their 25th anniversary tour in their native Oklahoma this May. The tour will mostly be overseas for the summer, but the guys will be back to pick up their North American tour by the end of summer.

DEAN LEWIS - 7 MINUTES
[2.14]
Once I was 7 minutes old...
Joshua Minsoo Kim: Is this satire [2]
Alfred Soto: Life was so simple for this curly-haired simp that he forgot he loved her. [0]
Iris Xie: I let out an involuntary "no!" when I heard the incredibly sandpaper-like "rhyme" of "Now I sink a little deeper, think a little clearer" but it managed to offend again with "I forgot to love you, love you, love you" by being both abridged and incredibly tuneless. Both of these melodies are hacky because it uses volume instead of musicality to express sentiments, and that ends up being noise. Listening to a folk-pop song like this without good toplines becomes the equivalent white-knuckling your way through a frustrating conversation -- you can't even respond back to it, so it's just pure dribble. [2]
Iain Mew: There's song construction where you can see the joins, and then there's song construction where you can see the entire clumsy process of three first goes being sticky-taped together in a panicked frenzy to fill the space. It's the way the "once I was 7 minutes old" conceit doesn't last beyond the first half-verse. It's the way that he can't make up his mind between whether he's focused on the break-up or looking back, and makes little attempt to reconcile the two. The grim, detached obviousness of the "Chasing Cars" reference, where just about any song title ever would fulfil the same narrative purpose. It's the "I forgot to love you" chorus as a potentially both sad and uplifting moment, entirely reliant on a foundation of any kind of demonstration of that forgetting, when that foundation is nowhere to be found. If the musical construction was as Escher that would at least be entertaining, but of course it's the opposite. The only small relief is that the Bastille lift of the chorus at least means that there is one musical moment when he deviates from The Script. [2]
Katherine St Asaph: There are two varyingly mean jokes I could make about this song/specifically its title, but it reminds me juuust enough of "Pinch Me" that I'll refrain. [4]
Will Adams: "Is Ed Sheeran a genre?" Iris wondered earlier this month, and we all shared a good laugh. Little did we know what awaited us. [3]
Edward Okulicz: I'll admit it, not covering "Be Alright" was one of the Jukebox's blind spots of 2018, especially now it's spreading. This, his recent single, is worse somehow, a big melting pot of generic male sad pop rock cliches and a chorus about forgetting to love that, well, say what you want about Ed Sheeran, and I know we do on this site, but he'd never, ever write something that fucking dumb. It's the sort of thing someone says when they won't own up to more tangible relationship crimes, and here it's the sort of thing someone says when they can't think of a better way of eliciting sympathy from a listener. LUKAS GRAHAM - LOVE SOMEONE [1.50] After three songs covered here, their combined score has now reached [4.09]...
Will Rivitz: The epsilon-delta definition of a limit is, in layman's terms, generally as follows: if one plugs a number x into a function, that function's limit as x approaches some other number a is L if, no matter what arbitrarily small number ε you can come up with, you can find some x near a such that x plugged into the function is within ε of L. This is somewhat confusing, so a non-math example to illustrate: Let x be a band, and let the a that x approaches be Lukas Graham (for notation's sake, we'll call it the Graham limit). We find that the limit L of the function f(x), as x approaches a, is in fact negative infinity. To understand why this is, consider any arbitrary ε, and we find that no matter how low f(ε), the Graham limit allows for a lower f(x). For example, if we set ε fairly low, at, say, Five For Fighting, we find that a lower f(x) is possible. If we set ε even lower, at, for example, Meghan Trainor, we find that a lower f(x) is still achievable. In this sense, "Love Someone" is an effectively didactic example, as it uses an almost unimaginably low ε -- Train, in this case --- and demonstrates that the Graham limit is lower still. Math is wonderful, isn't it? [0]
Andy Hutchins: The exchange rate on Lukas Graham members to Jason Mraz is 3:1, in case you have interest in playing what I'm sure is the booming market for sub-Sheeran wedding dreck. (Play a song that includes the sniffing refrain "You've probably never loved someone like I do" at your wedding at your own peril.) [1]
Julian Axelrod: As long as dads are having first dances at their second weddings, Lukas Graham will have a career. [3]
Alfred Soto: Well, isn't he the hateful little shit: she should learn to love like he does. It's not Graham Cracker's first time stepping on a rake. Ed Sheeran is Otis Redding. [1]
Katherine St Asaph: Justin Bieber's "Love Yourself" is not improved by 50,000 times more singing. [1]
Jonathan Bradley: Imagine I had just fallen head-over-heels for someone. You know, right in the mushy marshes of new affection. A time in which I had been so disarmed by this new presence in my life that I grasped for sincerity and earnestness to account for it; a time when hearing such sentiments drawn with careless and vague strokes would make them seem nonetheless truthful and important. Even at such a time, I think that I would find Lukas Forchhammer's quivering soul tenor to be impossibly, intolerably weedy. [2]
Nicholas Donohoue: I could revert to my hate mindset and be a pedantic, over-intensive jerk, but the only thing that needs said is Lukas Graham should refrain from long, high notes. [3]
Joshua Minsoo Kim: Jason Mraz-type schlock that's too boring to hate passionately. Since the music's too boilerplate, the lyrics come through with some solipsistic narcissism. Terrible, but easy to laugh at, which makes it a little less terrible. [2]
Taylor Alatorre: All three of Lukas Graham's self-titled albums feature the same painting of a nude woman on their cover but with a different color palette, like a lazier, hornier version of Weezer. The painting, entitled Damen med flaskerne (Lady with the Bottles), is Lars Helweg's depiction of Swedish-Italian actress Anita Ekberg, best known for her starring role in La Dolce Vita. Painted in 1992 but based on a 1956 Playboy photograph, it's become a minor cultural touchstone in Denmark; the hard rock band September also used the artwork for their 1995 album Many a Little. The original resides in Copenhagen's Cafe Wilder, which Lukas Graham's lead singer often visited as a child. He says the album art is intended as a tribute to his childhood, as well as a representation of the band's music: "naked and beautiful." Each of these facts is more interesting than anything found in this song, which devalues love by implying that yours isn't genuine unless you can squeeze a saccharine pseudo-devotional out of it. [2]
Alex Clifton: Is this the worst song Lukas Graham have ever recorded? No. That's either "7 Years," "Strip No More," or their newest single, which is an anti-suicide ballad (?) that involves the line "my stage show can light up the clouds," because somehow it has to have the self-aggrandizing turn that most Lukas Graham songs have. It depends on the day which song I hate more. But "Love Someone" is insipid and boring and clichéd and bad. It's like if the sappiest Jason Mraz song (also incidentally named "Love Someone") had a baby with Ed Sheeran's "Perfect" and a guy with less charisma than Pat Monahan tried to reassure you his Hefty bag of love is real. It's meaningless. It's supposed to be tender and kind but I can't get past the fact that this is the guy who once sang "HOW COME YOU DON'T STRIP NO MOOOOOOOOORE" so goddamn enthusiastically. Moreover, this song made me realize why I specifically hate Lukas Graham: they commit the sin of believing they're the only people in the world who have ever experienced feelings. "You'll probably never love someone like I do," Lukas Forchhammer sings, and in that moment I know he believes every word he says. It's the same story they've told with every other song: my emotion is the strongest and the worst and the most bad and the most valid, and you'll never understand. Lukas Graham have long left a bad taste in my mouth and this song makes me hate them more, to the point where it's a personal insult that Lukas Graham keeps releasing music. If they really loved someone other than themselves, they'd leave us alone. [0]
