lari  &  knox  :  they're  hot  together  ,  i'll  give  you  that  .  one  is  a  successful,  career-driven  person  and  the  other  is  just  ...  a  man  .  you  want  the  truth  ?  they're  a  couple  that's  better  off  not  being  together  .  not  just  for  the  sake  of  everyone  but  for  each  other  .  after  the  whole  valentine's  day  fiasco  ,  i  think  lari  deserves  better  .  #freelari  .

lulu  &  sofia  :  they're  cute  .  i  already  said  they  have  potential  and  i  don't  like  repeating  myself  .  as  chamber's  mentioned  ,  sofia's  far  better  suited  for  lulu  than  bel  .  i  ,  myself  ,  have  to  agree  .

toby  &  tayo  :  good  for  them  ,  i  guess  ?  is  this  really  news  ,  though  ?  i  thought  they'd  been  dating  for  a  while  and  FINALLY  decided  to  let  the  public  in  on  their  little  secret  .

ace  &  percy  :  i  do  not  care  .  this  whole  '  will  they  ?  won't  they  ?  '  gets  old  .  ace  gets  around  and  percy  ?  does  anyone  actually  know  anything  about  percy  ?  you  know  ,  other  than  the  fact  that  there  is  clearly  something  going  on  between  her  and  ace  .

ace  &  paige  :  they  don't  even  feel  like  a  couple  .  you  know  how  i  say  monogamy  is  dead  on  the  upper  east  side  ?  ace  and  paige  are  what  i  mean  .  there  is  nothing  serious  about  these  two  and  it's  VERY  clear  .

paige  &  harlowe  :  i  could  get  behind  this  .  harlowe  seems  like  the  type  to  balance  out  paige  .  i  know  they've  been  spending  a  lot  of  time  with  one  another  so  only  time  can  tell  .  paige  is  a  wildcard  so  harlowe  needs  to  watch  out  .

hunter  &  safiye  :  at  the  risk  of  repeating  myself  ,  safiye  run  .  you're  far  too  pretty  to  add  stress  to  your  plate  in  the  form  of  a  man  .  i  ship  hunter  with  therapy  and  safiye  with  anyone  that's  not  hunter  .

josie  &  cami  :  risky  .  from  a  purely  physical  standpoint  ?  they'd  look  good  together  .  however  ,  it's  a  little  too  awkward  for  me  considering  cami  dated  josie's  COUSIN  at  one  point  in  time  .  but  i  guess  if  cami  wants  to  keep  it  in  the  familly  ...  

teagan  &  elias  :  there's  nothing  i  love  more  than  a  woman  insulting  a  man  to  humble  him  .  they  could  work  .  i  think  they'd  look  good  as  a  couple  but  i  am  standing  FIRM  that  teagan  ,  rosalind  and  josie  would  make  a  great  throuple  .  as  for  elias  ?  i'm  going  to  need  him  to  stop  falling  in  love  with  his  close  friends  .  thanks  .

aika  &  james  :  if  aika  is  looking  for  a  pretty  face  and  dedication  then  i  think  it  works  .  they  kinda  give  me  golden  retriever  and  black  cat  energy  but  maybe  that  has  to  do  with  james'  personality  making  everyone  seem  like  a  black  cat  in  comparison  .  i  ship  it  purely  on  the  basis  that  they  will  be  the  LEAST  dramatic  couple  on  this  list  .

i have two scenarios in my head (if that's alright with you sweet anon)

in person and over the phone

in person, naomi gives me cuddlebug energy okay? like maybe you et home from school or work and you're just having a shit day so you lay facedown on the couch, just sobbing quietly to yourself, the anxiousness creeping up in your throat, the burning spreading across your chest. Naomi comes home chipper as ever, like in a goofball mood, ready to mess with you. "'m home love," they say in a British accent, giggling before stopping and seeing you on the couch, instantly dropping their bags as their face falls into concern. Naomi makes their way to the couch, kneeling down next to you, "Hey baby, hey," just softly rubbing your back, maybe pushing some hair away from your face and ears so they can kiss your temple. "What's wrong, sweet girl?" not knowing if you need space or comfort. Responding is hard, one wrong move and you'll be thrust into a panic attack so your pinky just softly grazes Naomi's before they're scooping you up, laying down on the couch, making you lie on top of them. Naomi's hand runs up and down the expanse of your back, lips pressed to your head, giving you small prolonged pecks. "wanna talk about it?" naomi whispers, their heartbeat against your ear as you shake your head, more tears falling. "'s okay, I'm here," just cooing at you, their hand pressing you firmly to their chest, other hand massaging the small of your back, trying to ground you so you don't start hyperventilating again. Maybe you fall asleep there, Naomi holding you to their body so you can rest securely, protecting you from yourself and anxious mind.

over the phone, i have this exact scenario where naomi is on tour and you've been doing okay up until today where you're just panicking, like on the ground, phone to your ear, no real reason behind the forest fire in your chest, your muscles tense and burning, your nails digging into your leg or hand so you can feel something. and naomi is not answering like at all. zero responses. this of course makes you panic further, your mind running all of the scenarios in which they are hurt or ignoring you or... and finally you call katie or jo.

if you called jo i think theyd lowkey panic lol, like you'd be crying, words jumbled being like "need naomi, please" and jo would be frantic if they were in the greenroom and naomi was somewhere in the venue, scrambling around out of breath by the time they get to naomi. there's no warning for your poor partner, just a wide-eyed panicked jo shoving their phone at naomi yelling "here!"

if you called katie i think she would try and talk you down, scrambling to find naomi but definitely more graceful than josette. "I'm looking for them pretty girl just hang on," because katie knows you need comfort (and in my hc she def gives off protective bff mom friend vibes to jo and naomi's girlfriends). When Katie finally finds Naomi, they similarly to Jo thrust their phone at them, giving them a look.

"Hello?" Naomi says confused because this isnt their phone and who could it possibly b- "I'm sorry I just--I need you right now and I..." is all Naomi needs to hear before putting their equipment down and rushing off stage, hand to their other ear. "What's wrong baby?" before you just spill everything that you're feeling, panic rising in Naomi's chest at the pain in your voice. "I need you to breathe baby, can you do that, tell me something you can see..." and they start working through exercises to calm you down. When you're finally breathing normal, voice thick with emotion, Naomi lets out a sigh of relief before asking, "Should I come home? I can come home, I'll-I'll get Franki to look at flights right now," before you have to calm down your partner, apologizing for interrupting soundcheck when they passionately call you out, "Dont do that, don't say sorry... I'm sorry I'm not there... you call me whenever you need me, its what I'm here for."

Klaus, Caroline and I had hitched our asses on the nearest plane we could get on to get back to Mystic Falls. Caroline had called Alairc and told him what was apparently happening at the school. Klaus slammed the brakes on the car and we all vamped inside the old boarding house. “What are we going to do?”

“You need to take your magic back for starters.” Klaus glanced down at me since I was standing right beside him.

Rolling my eyes at my husband I snapped. “I already told you it’s not going to happen, Klaus.”

“You’ve been through the merge with your brother. It nearly killed you both mentally and physically. And now Elizabeth and Josette are facing the same curse. So you’re telling me you are going to sit back and watch where either one of them will be dead when this is over.” Klaus growled in my face when I lifted my head up to his.

Crossing my arms over my chest I scoffed at him. “Klaus, even if I wanted to do something to stop it. I can’t. They are twins.”

“And if non twins merge then things go bad.” The three of us turned our heads hearing someone else entering the room we were in. Footsteps came around the corner revealing my brother Jacob with Hayley and Andrea.

Caroline looked between our group. “That’s why Luke died when he faced Kai. So what is our plan to stop Dark Josie?”

“I don’t know, Care. Let’s just pray that the kids have a plan already in place.” I shrugged my shoulders looking at my friend.

Caroline ran her hands through her hair vamping out of the room. “I’m going to find Ric and I’ll meet up with later.”

“Jacob, please convince your sister to take her magic back and stop Dark Josette.” Klaus whipped his head around pointing a finger at my twin brother.

Jacob raised his hands up. “Klaus, It’s her decision. And like she said we can’t fight Josie on our own. Only the Saltzman twins can change their fate.”

“Hope came up with a plan B. But it involves them still having to merge.” Andrea stepped away from her parents.

I gasped feeling a tightening in my chest at hearing that horrible reality. I spun on my feet rushing into the nearest office room slamming the wooden door behind me. Gripping the desk I sucked in a sharp breath picturing Jacob's body laying on the dirt ground in front of me. “Rae, Rae, hey are you okay?”

“J…I'll be fine. I just need a minute.” I shake my head, closing my eyes tightly. Even though I didn’t have my magic at the moment I felt like I could feel his magic coursing in my veins.

He touched my shoulder. “I know this is traumatic for you. But we won't let them die. Either of them.”

“We can’t guarantee that. And Klaus won't leave me alone about my magic - I won't take it back until I am ready.” I huffed where my brother turned me around to face him.

He pulled me into his chest holding me as close as he could. “Ssh I've got ya, Raelyn. He will understand your reasoning at some point. Now we can do our best to convince Josie to not kill Lizzie. And I'll be there for you through it all.”

“Thank you, J.” I sniffed through some tears removing my fingers from clinging onto the fabric of his shirt after we broke the hug.

Jacob and I left the office seeing Ethan and Missy standing in the hallway arguing over something. “Ethan, you have to go.”

“I am not going anywhere, M & M.” He said back to her.

My third daughter huffed, throwing her hands up. “Ethan, this is a dangerous family situation. I don’t want you to get hurt in the crossfire.”

“I don’t want to leave because after I do I’ll forget everything. That isn’t right. We are supposed to be together as a couple.”

Missy raised her hand threatening him. “E, I can compel you to leave in case you forget. If you won’t go willingly and accept that I am doing this to protect your human life.”

“As your boyfriend I should be by your side for whatever dangers you face. I am not leaving, Melissa!” Ethan snapped at her before we heard some screams coming from the gym.

Jacob and Missy vamped in the direction of the gym. Ethan and I shared the same look before I clasped his hand in mine and vamped him into the gym with us. “She’s right that it's dangerous but we can just compel you later.”

“Well, my selfish sister didn't show up. Who am I gonna kill? Should it be... vampires? Maybe witches? How about some werewolves?” Entering the gym room I saw everyone in the school standing around a ring with Josie dressed in all black.

Hope, Alina and Missy all looked at Andrea before they all ran forward and launched themselves in the air and over the ring railing. The four of them did backflips landing in the center of the ring, down on one knee until they slowly rose challenging her. “Why not try all three?”

“Hope, you wait. Jackson whatever happens keep Xavier out of danger.” Alina looks over her shoulder at her werewolf husband holding theif infant son ti his chest outside the ring pit.

Andrea raised her hands blasting Josie who was glaring at the four of us. “Immobilus.”

“Real mature, Drea. Regelo.” Josie whispered, snapping her fingers, unfreezing herself.

Josie throws her hand forward and launches the three other girls against the ring railing. Missy grunted, forcing herself to her feet and casting a spell on her cousin. “Tenebris lapsus.”

“Ah!” Josie groans holding her head throwing her on the harsh floor where Missy called out to Alina who was behind her.

Alina clasped Andrea’s hand in hers siphoning off of her for more power than she could create on her own, especially since she was still recovering from giving birth a few days ago. “Lecutio maxima.” She hits Josie with an electric bolt of energy knocking her down onto her back.

“Phasmatos Incendia circulum.” Josie throws a fire spell surrounding the three witches until Hope climbs over the railing and undoes the spell.

“Inteo bulla…” Hope snaps her fingers creating a boundary spell around everybody outside the ring. Josie throws a blast of red energy yet she throws one back that was a strength of blue energy. The pair fought against one another but the Saltzman siphon was stronger using dark magic, throwing the two into their own separate corners.

“You're not even fighting back.” Josie grumbled under her breath.

Hope stands beside her sister’s and cousin in the opposite corner. “Neither are you. I know that you're in there, Josie.”

Josie launched her hand forward, throwing a fireball at her. “Give it up, Hope. What's it gonna take to get it through to your thick wolf skull that I'm Josie now? Incendia!”

Hope jumps out of the way quickly as possible and gets back in a fighting stance against her. “You are not Josie. I know that you think she's weak, but I know the truth... she's strong. You're strong. No one could shoulder the burdens that you carry. And you're always there for your friends when they need you. So, please, Jo, we really need you right now.”

“Enough of this drivel! What are you waiting for? kill the Tribrid.” The necromancer declared getting in Josie’s face.

Josie leaned against the ring railing. “Shut up. Everybody, shut up!…Hope?”

“Jo, is that you?” Hope gasped in relief.

Yet Josie’s eyes turned black again, raising her hand and lifting Hope up in the air over part of the ring that had wooden sticking out of it. “Did you really think that you'd be the one that would bring out my good side? Ascendo. So, any last words for your tombstone?”

Hope grunts nervously looking at me and her father. “I know you're in there, Josie. Fight.”

“I should have mentioned this earlier. But black really isn't your color.” Whipping my head around I heard Lizzie’s voice from behind me, seeing she was siphoning MG saving Hope from falling on the stake wood.

Josie dropped her hand. “You're late to your own funeral.”

“No. I am right on time to kick your ass.” Lizzie declared to her twin, making everyone cheer in the crowd. Lizzie and Josie entered the center of the ring with the rest of us standing on the outer edges.

“Sanguinem generis fiantus. Sanguinem desimilus, sanguinem generis fiantus. Sanguinem desimilus,

sanguinem generis fiantus. Sanguinem desimilus... “ Lizzie and Josie cut their hands and intertwined hands chanting the spell.

MG asked, looking at all the Mikaelson’s. “Is she winning?”

“We won't know until one of them wakes up.” I clasped my brother's hand tightly in mine.

It was a few more minutes of the twins chatting until they gasped and their bodies collapsed to the floor hard. The gym door bursts open revealing Alaric and Caroline rushed forward holding each twin in their laps. “Oh my god!” Caroline gasped through tears sobbing until Josie opened her eyes and she got to her feet.

It was a few hours afterward and everyone else in the school except for our little group knew that Lizzie was in fact still alive. Everyone had gathered inside the office and the second Lizzie had suddenly awoken on the long couch. She frantically looked at me. “Where’s Josie?”

“She’s alive and she thinks she won. Hope had a plan B thankfully that Andrea explained to me after the Merge ended.” I answered the blonde standing by my husband.

“The potion she made wasn't just to keep your mind separate from Jo's. It linked your life to Landon's temporarily. So when you died, he died, too. But since he's immortal, you came back when he did.” MG went in to explain more.

Alaric sat down with his daughter on the couch. “Hope thinks we can get Josie back.”

Lizzie asked. “How?”

“That's where your boy MG came in the clutch.” Kaleb high fixed him.

MG focused on the siphon witch. “I helped Hope do an old-fashioned vampire head dive. That's why you had to go through with the Merge. Hope needed Josie to be vulnerable. Josie's shields were down, so I sent Hope into Josie's mind. And then I juked her out of there before anybody knew what we were doing.”

“Why didn't anyone tell me?” Lizzie raised a brow.

Alaric answers her question. “Hope couldn't risk Josie figuring out the plan when the two of your minds melded in the Merge.”

MG shrugged his shoulders smiling. “Plus, we knew you weren't gonna run away for real. Heroes save the day, even when it's hard, right?”

Lizzie put the pieces together looking at me and Klaus. “So... Hope's in Josie's mind?”

“Yes she is but there’s more than that.” I glanced over to Alaric who unlocked a secret space that was hidden behind the bookshelf in the headmaster office. The door creaked open showing Hope sleeping in the position of sleeping beauty from the Disney movie. “She unfortunately won’t wake up yet and we don’t know why.”

Klaus instructed the blonde Satlzman. “Elizabeth until she returns no one outside of this room can know you are alive.”

“But what if Hope never comes back?” Lizzie questions very concerned.

Holding my husband’s hand I eyed Nik who didn’t bother answering her question, not having any answer that wouldn’t frighten her. “If she doesn’t come back in time. We will come up with another plan. It is not something to worry about for now.” She nodded where I focused my attention back on one of my oldest daughters.

Dark Skin Directory

I did one of these for my sideblog BlackFemmeCharacterDependency (BFCD) and... While it’ll take longer on this end to do because there are more prominent figures here than on that one, I thought it would be good to also have one for my main...

EDIT: Okay, so the one that I did for BFCD does not work, so I am posting this one to see if it works, and if not, they’ll both be WIPS until I have the time to repair them

For the purposes of this list and on this page, whenever I say “dark skinned,” I mean a traditional brown crayon or darker. I grew up around Black people, so the words “dark skinned” do not mean the same thing to me as it do to nonblacks.

The first signs of a new remake of The Forsyte Saga appeared on production listings at the beginning of April 2024. While there had been rumors before about the series returning to television, the pre-production announcements were the first sign the project was getting off the ground, with Mammoth Productions most likely behind it. However, it was unclear if the show was a BBC series, an ITV series, or a series made for PBS or Masterpiece, or a combination thereof. But with filming now about to get underway, details are out, and Masterpiece is the one taking the lead on the project, with a stellar cast lined up to star.

The Forsyte Saga is considered the British period piece that allowed the WGBH folks to launch the Masterpiece anthology series as PBS launched nationwide. The series was first aired in the U.K. on the recently launched BBC 2 in 1967, a network most TV viewers did not have yet. It proved so popular that it was rerun on BBC One a few months later, making it technically the first show to make the jump from network to network due to rising ratings. The series then transferred to the U.S. and aired on local PBS stations across the country (which were at that point not under a national umbrella as yet) and proved a massive hit, bringing in numbers that beat out the "Big Three" networks of NBC, CBS, and ABC. Its success proved an appetite for the best of British programming, presaging Masterpiece's launch two years later.

It's now 55 years later, and though Masterpiece aired a new version in 2002, nowadays, it is no longer just an importer. The streaming wars have made it so that the anthology series must co-produce and sometimes take the lead on commissioning shows. The choice to make its own The Forsyte Saga is unsurprising, considering the show's history and its reputation, which means that it has pulled in quite an impressive cast.

One reason Masterpiece has taken charge of the project? This way it can dictate how many seasons there are and when it is renewed. Make no mistake, this is planned as a multi-season venture. Here's the series logline:

The first season of six episodes follows the lives of the wealthy Forsyte family in 1880s London and is based on John Galsworthy’s Nobel Prize-winning tale of love, loyalty, ambition, and betrayal.

The series cast stars Francesca Annis (Flesh & Blood) as formidable Forsyte matriarch Ann; Stephen Moyer (Sexy Beast) as her eldest son, Jolyon Senior, head of the family stockbroking firm Forsyte & Co.; and Jack Davenport (Ten Percent) plays Ann’s competitive younger son James. The next generation down features Danny Griffin (The Gentlemen) as Jolyon Sr.'s bohemian son Jo, Tuppence Middleton (Downton Abbey) as Jo’s status-driven wife Frances, and Eleanor Tomlinson (Poldark) plays Louisa Byrne, a Soho dressmaker and Jo’s first love. Joshua Orpin (Titans) plays James’ shrewd and sometimes ruthless son, Soames; Millie Gibson (Doctor Who) is Irene, the dancer whom Soames falls in love with, and Tom Durant Pritchard (Miss Scarlet) plays Monty Dartie, James’ son-in-law.

Outside of the titular family, Josette Simon (Broadchurch) will play Mrs. Ellen Parker Barrington, a wealthy heiress and friend of the Forsyte family; Jamie Flatters (Liar) is architect Philip Bosinney, Owen Igiehon (Disclaimer) plays lawyer Isaac Cole, and last (but certainly not least), OG 1967 The Forsyte Saga star Susan Hampshire OBE plays Lady Carteret.

Debbie Horsfield (Sanctuary: A Witch's Tale) will pen all six episodes, with directors Meenu Gaur (Murder Is Easy) and Annetta Laufer (Get Millie Black) splitting helming duties and Sarah Lewis (The Long Shadow) producing. Horsfield and Gaur executive produce along with Sheena Bucktowonsing, Damien Timmer for Mammoth Screen, and Susanne Simpson for Masterpiece. 

The Forsyte Saga Season 1 is expected to debut on most PBS stations in 2025.
