as a concept art solas diehard, i hope it's okay if i add to this!

i find it Very Interesting that they specifically made solas white while keeping most of his ethnic features (sharp face angles/cheekbones/lips/eye structure/etc); iirc in canon game-adjacent literature he's even described as having full lips, high cheekbones, and an oval-shaped face. given the fact that sera also had some brown concept art but ultimately ended up being white while keeping her features too, it strongly feels to me like yet another instance in which any features traditionally associated with nonwhiteness are only considered attractive or palatable when presented on a white face, which is also reminiscent of the larger societal phenomenon wherein white influencers get fake tans/braids/lip filler/etc. because borrowing elements from Black cultural aesthetics and even our physical features is only considered acceptable or trendy when they're the ones doing it, but i digress. (and yes, while i'm very much aware that white people can have these features too, the fact that they've done this to multiple characters with nonwhite concept art tells me everything i need to know lmao.)

If I were the original Solas concept artist I'd be so fucking SICK. They didn't just whitewash your idea, they whitewashed it to the extreme and then as insult to injury shaved off his locs so that he'd be pale white and bald. Probably all so people (white fans, as we've seen in the prioritizing of fan demographics before) would like him more. Homelessness and hunger are truly strong motivating forces bc if it were me I'd be tempted to quit 😭 I'm going to HR and filing a grievance 😭 they can't keep doing this
