Summary: Part two, in which everyone is fighting to hold back exactly what they want to say.

There was a conversation that needed to happen that Joe Liebgott was not quite bring himself to start. As they stood in the crowded room, the roaring of the speakers around them felt overwhelming. After settling into the quietness of their lives’ new pace, watching the footage from the Pacific seemed a stark and unwelcomed contrast. Liebgott wondered if he would have felt this way if he had not spent the entire fight in Europe wondering what it would be like to start a life with Evelyn Mosey when this was all over. If there was one thought that got him through the blasts, the cold and wet, seemingly endless nights, it was her. And the idea that he would never be without her again. 
He tried to steal subtle glances over to her as she watched the footage screen. Her jaw was set. Her full lips pressed into a firm line. Her dark eyes were focused intently, never once bothering to look over at him. He watched a wave of tension ripple in her neck. She tilted her head side to side, rolling her shoulders up to meet her ears. A simple gesture that would have gone unnoticed to anyone but him. 
When they shuffled out, he made sure to keep sight of her. The masses that filed out trickled out taking different paths, he made a bee-line for her. Years spent in the shadows, waiting for the right moment to glance, to touch, to speak, he knew how to keep himself at a distance, while still in her warm orbit.  
“I don’t want to talk about it now, Lieb,” she told him adamantly, looking down the hallway both ways to ensure that no one else was interested in their exchange. 
“I know,” he rolled his eyes. Never had he been with a woman who was so consistently unfeeling when it did not benefit her. “Can I just--” 
She watched someone walk past them, behind Liebgott. They exchanged a nod of recognition. Her face fell from its friendly openness to one of frustration when she met his gaze again. 
“Just come in,” she opened the door wider and encouraged him to move quickly. “I don’t want to do this out here.” 
Liebgott had seen her room since their time began at Zell Am See. The time he spent there was less than he would have liked. If he had imagined a true celebration of the victory in Europe, it would not have been so distant from her. 
“I don’t want to talk about this right now.” She was firm in her words, but her hand was gentle as it touched the buttons on his shirt. He nodded and bit the inside of his cheek. He knew there weren’t going to be any words he could say to demand her to comply. He could not claim her strong will was his favorite thing about her and then admonish her for it when it did not benefit him. “Please?” 
The way she looked up at him with those large doe eyes made him feel a warmth spread in his chest and abdomen. He touched her face gently and nodded, tracing her jawline with his thumb. He had spent half the fucking war holding back a proposal of marriage, children, a life together. He bit back vows of eternity and forever. He withheld the words “I love you.” Surely one more fucking day made no difference. 
She smiled and took him by the hand, slowly backing him towards the bathroom. 
There was an electric current that radiated through every vein in his body when she reached to turn the shower on. He was convinced there would never be a time where he was not breathless in anticipation to see her undress. He felt the twitch of need in his groin just thinking of the moment where he would watch the water touch her naked flesh. So when she started to work on the buttons of her shirt, he sat back on the corner of the clawfoot tub with a playful smirk. 
Evelyn rolled her eyes as she watched him perch himself on the tub. If there was one thing she was going to miss about Joseph Liebgott, it was going to be his boyish charm. The way his eyes danced over her appraisingly caused her skin to catch light with blue flame, so hot it felt cool and caused her to erupt in goosebumps. She stepped out of her boots skillfully as she worked on the buttons of her shirt. When she pulled it over her shoulders and left it in a pile on the ground, she heard a small whistle from her observer. 
Liebgott felt a pang in his stomach while he watched her start to work on her pants. Ignoring all thoughts and feelings (how did she do it?) about what was to come, he focused on the way her deft fingers worked on her buttons, letting them fall to her feet. Though he had ensured that every part of her had been explored by eager hands, lips, and tongue, it was taking everything in him not to get to his knees and help her escort those pants the rest of the way to her ankles. 
She stepped out of the last of her clothes with a smile. He bit his lip as he glanced over her body. Evelyn had resigned herself that there would never be another man who made her so hungry to be stared at in this way again. His eyes carried just enough devotion to balance the intense desire that made her feel like the only woman on the planet. He once had told her he would watch her read the phone book just to stare at her lips. 
Liebgott licked his lips softly, shifting to adjust the fullness in his pants. No coaxing, no teasing, simply the pure sight of her undressing herself, all for him, caused such a stir in him. It was exactly that gesture that Evelyn watched hungrily, her eyes darkening as she pinned her lower lip between her teeth. That was all the indication Joe needed to close the gap between them. 
He braced the back of her head, her dark curls tangling perfectly around his large fingers when he pulled her close. He wanted to taste the spot of her mouth where she had bit down. A needy whimper betrayed Evelyn as it eased up from her throat. It was so very like Joe Liebgott to pull all kinds of unprompted sounds from her eager throat. The way his mouth moved with hers was a dance the two of them had skillfully mastered. Lieb couldn’t help but smirk as he thought about the other kinds of dances she had shared with other men. Nothing could compare to this. Ever. 
His hands worked at the buttons of his own shirt. He made a quick and sloppy job of getting it off and tossing it to the floor, his undershirt quick behind it. There was a simple and intense maneuver Evelyn had mastered in getting his belt undone with nimble fingers. It always left him growling against her lips. He gripped her scantily clad behind and squeezed, pulling her hips into his with a force that caused them both to let out a groan. 
“Joey,” she breathed, her lips swollen, his pridefully wearing the ghost of her red lipstick. He smirked, feeling himself twitch at the sound of her need. He busied himself with kissing her neck, his thumbs teasing the cups of her bra. She worked to unbutton his pants, chest heaving, eyes heavily lidded. 
“Yeah?” He grinned against her skin. She moaned again, biting her swollen lower lip and shuddering as he kissed down over her sternum. “What is it?” he asked teasingly. “Tell me.” The demand was placed just before he nipped at the skin of her right breast. He tugged at his waistband and let his pants fall with a gasp. 
“Take me,” she murmured, feeling his desperate length through his boxers with her hand. 
“You know how this works, doll.” He smiled, making eye contact with her. He could taste her desperate shudders as he pressed their foreheads together. Their eyes were locked so intensely that she felt him twitch under her hand. “You don’t get any of me until I’ve had my fill of you first.” 
She leaned up and kissed him with a groan, reaching around and taking it upon herself to get her bra off. Lieb took the hint and cast his boxers to the floor, slowly stroking himself as she watched her expose every inch of her perfect body to him. The strain his erection had felt boyish, desperate, and fucking incredible. Never in his life did he think he would find himself a puddle of need at the simple sight of a woman. 
She knew it, of course. Evelyn teased him with a smirk as she kicked her underwear to the side with a delicate gesture, her toes pointed. She turned and his breath hitched in his throat at the sight of her delicate muscles of her back, the perfect curve of her hips, her ass, her strong thighs. He continued to touch himself, the way she always reminded him to, when he watched her turn on the water. He knew she longed to be needed in the way he needed her. Joe tried not to think about who would prove to her just how incredible she was when he was no longer around. Biting back every question that bubbled over in his throat, he stepped forward, closing the distance between them. 
When his chest pressed against her back, Evelyn hummed contently. His length settled against the curve of her rear, his lips near her ear as he leaned down. She watched as his hand traced the length of her arm, leaving a trail of goosebumps with the gentlest touch. 
“You are so fucking beautiful,” he whispered into her ear. He pressed his lips to her shoulder as he slowly moved his hand toward her exposed breasts. When his large hand fully enveloped her, she felt the gentle brush of his palm over her nipple that encouraged a moan. He chuckled in her ear as his other hand trailed the curve of her hip toward her desperate center. “Fuck,” he growled, feeling her wetness with the gentle touch of the pad of his finger. Gently pulling her hair up into his fist, he held it away from her neck as he planted hungry kisses on her skin. Sucking, scraping his teeth, flicking his tongue against the sensitive skin where her neck and shoulder met while he drew slow circles around her most sensitive spot. Gasping, pressing back against him, melting into his ministrations, Evelyn felt like she was unable to promise her legs’ ability to hold her up much longer. 
“Please, Joe,” she begged breathlessly. “Please.” 
Joe chuckled from deep in his chest. She felt it rumble against her back. He took his hand away, missing the warmth of her on his fingers immediately. She turned to him, her eyes heavily lidded with lust, searching his desperately. He smiled at her, took the finger that had worked on her so deftly, and placed it to his lips, flicking his tongue over the pad, his eyes locked with hers. 
“Mmm…” He groaned, stepping towards her, backing her into the shower. “God damn…” he growled, watching as her body was hit by the hot water. 
Joe watched her, watching the beads of water create paths down over the curves of her body. With her taste on his desperate tongue, his eyes on her perfect body, his heart beating in his chest, he wasn’t sure he would be able to hold out much longer. Whether it was the vulnerability of the space they occupied, the time left together that felt too short, or the intoxicating effect he had on him, he couldn’t distinguish. All he knew is that he had to have her. 
There was a beat that passed between them where they were sizing each other up. Evelyn felt the desperation of the moment hit her with a depth she had not recognized. God, if he would just be a little less delicate and loving in those touches, she could excuse away the lump growing in her throat as she watched the way he looked at her. She had always been enough for him. He had always reminded her of that. 
In a quick attempt to avoid him seeing the tears welling up in her eyes, she leaned forward and kissed him. The way their lips crashed into one another had an urgency he had not felt from her before. Her hunger was bone deep. He traced her jaw, tenderly caressing her neck, flicking her hair over her shoulder. His length stood at attention between them, gently nudging the flesh of her belly. He rocked forward to feel the friction as he ghosted a gentle trail down her arms to her warm, capable hands. 
When he laced their fingers together, she felt him back her into the wall of the shower. The cool tile was an intense contrast to the warm water that hit her front. He laced their fingers together, pressing it gently against the wall beside her head, pinning it there. She watched a coy smirk cross his lips as he pulled away from her. She giggled, tracing the curve of his lower lip, cleaning up the lipstick he had stolen from her mouth. He leaned down and took that thumb between his teeth, flicked his thumb over the pad, and chuckled. She laughed, a playful swat at his cheek against his cheek, pulled her thumb back and replaced it with her lips. 
Joe held her against the wall with the weight of his body. Slowly, he started to trail those kisses down over her body, his hand still tightly clasped in hers. He loved the feeling of her grip on his hand tightening as he placed kisses to the more intimate parts of her body. The spot between her breasts, her left nipple, just above her belly button (God, would he miss that fucking giggle), the curve of her hip, the top of her thigh. He directed her hand to the back of his head and left it there, needing both of his hands to tenderly separate her thighs, pulling one up over his shoulder as he got to his knees. 
“Joe…” she breathlessly tangled her hands in his hair and gripped as he pressed his mouth to the place where she needed him most. There was a wave of gasps that followed that caused him to smirk against her, following the work of his tongue with the addition of a skilled finger. 
Mindful of shared walls, used to keeping herself quiet by biting pillows and shoulders, Evelyn was left to trap the back of her hand in her teeth as he worked. Wave after wave of pleasure crashed over her as she touched her, teased her, tongued her with the skill of a much more experienced man. But, she recognized, he was an experienced man. He was a man who knew her so fully that he was able to coax the most unladylike noises from her throat with ease. He knew her inside and out in every way possible. The intimate attention he paid to the details of her body felt like the worship of a deity; the way he enacted that devotion felt sinful. 
Overwhelmed by every sensation between her legs, she found herself grasping at the back of his head and shoulders, her hips moving up to meet his attentive mouth and fingers. He moaned against her repeatedly, desperate to draw every curse she knew from her delicate mouth. Grinning with desire, with power, with pleasure, he worked attentively on her body, his only goal to push her to her limits. He stopped the hand that was working at his own length and snaked it up over her body, tracing her edges to take her heaving breast in his hands. They moaned in unison, his sending vibrations to the core of her being. In that moment, she came undone around his fingers, against his tongue, spilling out desperate whimpers and cries of his name. Joe could have spent an eternity in the sound of her sweet need. 
Evelyn, on the other hand, was unable to let too long pass without any part of him inside of her. His vacancy was felt immediately when she pulled him to his feet, gently guided by the fistful of his dark hair. She kissed him as if it would be their last, unsure if it would be, and teased a hand over his eager length, guiding him towards her. 
Joe, pleased to know she was as needy as he felt, pulled away from her lips and tongue. He gripped her hips and turned her away from him, her ass pulled against his hard length in the most satisfying way. She moaned at the contact, he held his own back. He tucked her hair behind her ear as to not obscure her vision as she turned to look over her shoulder at him. He kissed her temple, her ear, her jaw, neck, and shoulder. His hand encouraged her thighs apart, lifting a leg to the edge of the tub where her foot found purchase. 
Swiftly, skillfully, and perfectly, he entered her, pulling a satisfied, guttural moan from deep within them both.
“Fuck,” he gasped against her neck. The way he gripped her hips was bruising as they both accommodate his eager entrance. He felt her skin erupt in goosebumps against his chest. He pressed forward, making sure he reached her depths with all he had. She reached back, stiffening against him, her fingers lacing with his against her hip. 
Slowly, consistently, deeply, he started a pace with his hips. The water that fell between them from above made their skin glisten and it pooled where their bodies met. The gentle slap of their skin meeting with gentle force made her giggle. He kissed her cheek, unable to hold back the groans of pleasure that spilled from his lips. She gasped, pushing back against him as she angled herself to take him deeper. 
That was all Joe needed to encourage him to pick up his pace. The swiftness in which their bodies collided called new noises from her mouth. He kissed her upper back and shoulders while he steadied himself, pulling her back onto him. 
“Oh, god…” she reached toward the wall to find something to grip. The slick tiles gave her no purchase. That was when she reached behind her, wrapping a hand around his neck, gripping the hairs at the base of his scalp. Liebgott groaned loudly, gripping her hips tighter. His other hand trailed up toward her breast, gripping it gently in his hands, memorizing its shape, weight, the hardness of her nipple against his palm. 
“You’re fucking incredible, you know that?” He grunted into her ear, only further pulling strings of incoherence from her mouth. She bit her lip hard, feeling an overwhelm of emotion take over her body like a wave. The lump grew double in size in her throat as she met his every thrust, stars behind her eyes. Unable to respond, he continued. “You’re so perfect. Fuck, Evie.” Her name felt like chocolate on his lips. She turned over her shoulder to taste it on them. Her eyes screwed shut as the tears burned behind them, he continued to bring her body to new heights. When he reached down between her legs, she became overwhelmed. The threat of tears was hard to fight off. 
“Joe--” she breathed, the sound of his name clipped by the failure to stop a sob from leaving her lips. The phrase he pulled from her next caused her to bite her tongue between her teeth. 
“I--” Joe started. She heard the start of her own words start to come from his mouth. The feeling, the desperation of her overwhelming emotions was contagious. He couldn’t tell where his heartbreak, his pleasure, his love, began and where hers ended. The only way to stop himself from telling her just how he felt about her was to sink his teeth in her shoulder, as she had done to him so many times. Familiar with the sensation, Evelyn felt the pressure, the sting, and every unsaid word behind the contact on her shoulder. She turned away, fearful he would stop if he saw the tears cascading down her cheeks, he would stop. She screwed her eyes shut as she felt a heat building inside of her. 
Desperate to feel her come undone around him, under him, with him, he teased her more intentionally with his fingers, his hips working in time with his skillful touch. If he couldn’t tell her, he could show her. 
“Please,” she begged. He had come to know it as the last phrase, the last push, before he was gifted with her orgasm. “Joe--” 
As he felt her start to push back against him, taking every inch of him, all of him, so intentionally. The feel of her as she let go, her body working desperately to pull him over the edge with her, he followed. The two of them tumbled over together, a tangled mess of limbs, pants, sobs, and everything they swore they’d never fucking say.

I said this in a reblog but I’m putting it in the main tag: the real Joseph Liebgott was not Jewish.
@floorlimes does a lot of genealogy research and she tracked down some of his family’s census and immigration records. Mary (or Maria) Liebgott, his mother, immigrated from Hungary when she was ten years old. Her maiden name was Zimmerman; although some Jews do have that surname, a significant majority of Zimmermans in the world are not Jewish. Many “Jewish” names in the US are in fact simply German names. Mary or Maria is not a Jewish name. Her father’s middle name was Paul, and her brother’s name was Adolf--both names that are almost exclusively Christian/German.
Most tellingly, their “race or people” is given as German, at a time when Jews were listed as “Hebrews” coming from [nation of origin].
floorlimes also tracked down an old fandom page that seemed to suggest the source of these rumors, despite Liebgott’s own family stating that his parents were Catholic and they knew of no Jewish origins, was fans finding these same records and assuming that Zimmerman is a Jewish name, which is not a credible deduction.
As a Jew, as a historian, believe me--there is no evidence to indicate conversion or secret Jewishness in rl Liebgott’s family. The real Joe Liebgott was Catholic. 
Coda: because the conversion and secrecy elements are totally made up by fans, there is NO REASON to take fictional Joe Liebgott, who is unequivocally Jewish in the show, and foist Catholicism on him in any way. The character and the man have different backgrounds and that’s just something we have to accept because it’s a fictionalized show. Most of us can agree we’re writing about fictionalized people, not the real life literal people (and in any case Liebgott’s family said he was a pretty racist/prejudiced person so I don’t think we WANT to be saying the character must be 100% accurate to the real person), and Stephen Ambrose’s shitty research skills are not a justification for erasing a fictional representation or speaking over Jewish fans.

George Luz’s ongoing flirtation with death and Joe Toye notwithstanding it was probably a good idea to have a look at what was going on between Webster and Liebgott.
This part makes me happy in the middle of the night. I remember I wrote it and it pleases me. I don’t have access to my original works, non fan fiction at this computer (at work) so i can’t show you some of my all time favorite spooky stuff. But this is some of my funniest work. 
11.Is writing your passion or just a fun hobby? I have always wanted to write for a living. I have adjusted my goals to make it more of a past time. I do have original works I hope to complete and publish some day. 
13.What’s the best writing advice you’ve ever come across? WRITE NOW EDIT LATER. Stop trying to fix things as you write it. God you wont believe what that changes. Also “Take the first 5 things you want the person to say and put it into body language.”
17.Do you write your story from start to finish, or do you write the scenes out of order? OUT OF ORDER. I actually bought this writing software Scrivner because it lets you move your scenes around like they are flash cards on a table. Changed my life. Allows me to keep ideas in motion and reorganize as the mood strikes me.
19.Stephen King once said that his muse is a man who lives in the basement. Do you have a muse? Songs. I am so inspired by music. If a song gets me writing it can keep me writing forever. If i don’t have a song will struggle to finish a fic. 
23.If you were to revise one of your older fics from start to finish, which would it be and why? answered!
29.If you could write the sequel (or prequel) to any fic out there not written by yourself, which would you choose? More of my Space AU. I want to write more space nonsense! And psychics. I dont know I want to write more of everything I could write every fic in a Harry Potter length series. If the muse would let me.  
31.Do you take liberties with canon or are you very strict about your fic being canon compliant? WHAT CANON?! *fires shotguns off my porch* WE DON’T NEED NO STINKING CANON. But also i love facts and keeping small facts in line.

First Wip: David Webster doesn’t die on the ocean, he is transported to another universe where he is married to Joseph Liebgott and they have two daughters. It’s cute fluff for my beta as an apology for dragging her into the Band of Brother fandom and then making her join me in the pit of of despair that is rare pair Speirs/Roe. It’s so cute and i love it so much.
Second: Speirs Ex Machina. a 5+1 of the times Speirs appeared out of fucking nowhere to save the day like the plot device he is. A gift for @unaduessa I have a couple parts written. I want to have it complete before I post. 
Third: MOBSTER AND MEDIC AU. If I have to I will fill up the Speirs/Roe tag with all the Au’s they deserve myself. Ronald Speirs and most of Easy company are part of the mob in the coolest way I can make them. Eugene Roe is a tired gay doctor who does not need this in his life but also isn’t going to fight it too hard.
The playlist for this one already is so good. I am worried it will be a month before i finish it just on sheer amount of time it will take to get all my ideas on paper.

Two 
He tapped his fingers against the steering wheel, every inch of him screaming out to turn the sirens on in the car and pull her over. First to haul her out of the seat and into his arms, to kiss her and apologize for listening to her grandfather. To meet his daughter, and be the man that he always was.  
When Robert Stewart approached him about leaving Olivia, he thought that he had everything that she needed, including love. Something he would assume that Robert would have wanted for his oldest and only granddaughter.
  But he was wrong, Robert had only cared about how far her relationships could get her. Much like her birth mother who Olivia cut out of her life after she found out that her daughter was in love with a barber/taxi cab driver.  The aftermath of that fight was the first time that Joe had ever heard a girl say she loved him when he wasn’t balls-deep in them and it was the first time that he said it too.   
He wanted to go back to Olivia when he had a career and had something to be proud of, he didn’t want to be coming back to her with his tail between his legs because his boss said so, but here he was.

“Yeah.” She returned with a sniffle, “I was going to the yoga studio, I swore I saw him in that piece of shit sedan that has been across the street from the house.’  Rolling his eyes frustrated, he pinched her ass causing her to yelp. “What’s going on in here?” Lewis asked, he was making the trek to his own office and had seen his husband and wife through the window and backtracked to the door to look at them. ‘I thought I saw Joe, kind of threw  me through a loop.’ She commented as she went to pull away from Dick but he held her fast, he didn’t want her to leave his side until she was together. The last time he let her go, she ended up having a panic attack and had to be sedated. 
The dark hair man looked at Dick then at Olivia who rested her head on his chest.   Shaking his head, he put his files and coffee cup he had in his hands on her desk before hugging her from behind.  
“We looked high and low for him babe. He is gone.” He nuzzled his nose into her neck, “Gene even went to Italy remember?” 
Eugene Roe was Olivia’s best friend from the pre-med program and had come up from New Orleans to help them look for him. 
 “I know, I know.” She returned softly before clearing her throat, “Y’all need to get to your meetings. Your dad is here Lew, and I don’t want to fight with him on my birthday about you being late for your meetings.”  
Smirking, her husband nipped the flesh of her neck, “He agreed with your grandfather, he should have a grandchild with the Nixon DNA. He will forgive me if I am late for one not only comforting my wife but by fucking her too.”  Dick rolled his eyes before pressing a chaste kiss to Olivia’s mouth and forehead, “I do have to go. I will be back later to get you for lunch Lew, behave yourself.”  
“Never.”

“Agent Jones, if you follow me, Mrs. Nixon is back from her lunch with Mr. Nixon and Mr. Winters.”  Alice Rogers, Olivia’s long-time assistant commented as she rose from behind the desk. Scarlett who had won out and was the one to meet with Olivia,  the woman knew the other men, and nothing would get done. And they didn’t want her to know that Joe was an agent.  “Thank you.” She said, “How long have you been working with Mrs. Nixon?” She asked. 
“Since she finished the nursing program,  girl was going places in the field but she knew she had a duty to her family and the Nixons. Raised a major fuss about it.”  The older woman answered before knocking on the door and easing it open, Olivia was standing behind the desk turned towards the ensuite bathroom talking to who Scarlett was assuming was Lewis Nixon. 
“Seriously, Lew, all through lunch Stanhope stared straight at the hickies. Could you have waited to do that until after the party tonight?” Olivia could be heard saying. And Scarlett could have jumped for join, she had wanted to scream at Liebgott that she did love her husband and that he shouldn’t expect much of anything to come from being back in her life. But of course the boys were there hyping him up about it.
He was just going to end up getting drunk and being at her apartment talking about the past and Olivia and the last thing that she wanted to do was listen to that bullshit again. 
She had heard it enough.
“Mrs. Nixon, Agent Jones of the FBI.” Alice said after clearing her throat. “Thank you Alice.” Olivia  returned, tearing her attention away from her husband to look at the agent. “Sorry, a lot of excitement around here.”
 “Yeah, my father is in town, it's Liv’s birthday today, her grandfather passed away.” Lewis rambled as he came out of the bathroom fussing with his tie. With a huff, the woman slapped his fidgeting fingers away from the tie and fixed it. 
“Just not to pick a fight until after the party tonight Aurora is thrilled that she gets to go until after dinner.” Lewis raised his eyes in a playful thought. “Lewis! Don’t you dare!” She warned, thumping his chest lightly, “do you want to break a 4 years old’s heart?” 
Scarlett shifted her weight from one foot to another, the boys were teasing Joe again about his tastes in women and Tab was telling another story about Aurora between jokes. She cleared her throat to remind them again that she was there.  
“I would never.” The man laughed before pressing his lips against Olivia’s once, then twice and then a third time before leaving the office with not so much as a backward glance at Scarlett. 
“Sorry about that.” Olivia said, pushing her bangs away from her eyes, “when his father is around he tends to get.” “Like a spoiled child?” Scarlett threw out, she had dealt with Joe when he went into a tailspin about missing Olivia and it was like having to deal with a spoiled child. 
“Exactly.” She motioned for the agent to sit across from her, “What can I help the FBI with?” 
Scarlett pushed up the glasses Stevenson insisted she wore. They hadn’t had time to bug her office and this was the easiest way to get eyes in the office.

“What are you doing Joe?” Talbert asked, pushing himself away from the table top that was in the back of the van they were in. “I am going in there, this is absolutely ridiculous. I have been away from her for five years because of her grandfather,  you all know my child! That isn’t right!” 
They had all heard him say more than once that he wanted to move Olivia to San Francisco into a big old house and fill it full of little Liebgott’s.
  “We know but until a year and half ago we didn’t even know where you were.” Chuck Grant commented,  “And you were so far up Scarlett’s ass that bringing up Olivia and Aurora seemed wrong.”
 They were right, up until 6 months ago, he was in no position to hear a thing about Olivia, it hurt too much. Then one day,  Talbert, who along with Grant and George Luz, another friend they had from school, went to lunch and he saw the picture of the trio and it opened the floodgates. You will see and be with her again.”

“Nix, good to see you. Taking good care of our girl?”  He returned as Floyd and George straightened up just in case they needed to get involved in a fight that was going to start brewing. They knew Liebgott and they knew Nixon and they knew how their tempers flaired when it came to Olivia.  And Lewis had a habit of becoming more hot headed when it came Aurora. 
“You never have to worry about that. Olivia and Aurora are in good hands. Dick and I take very good care of them.” 
“I am surprised that you are sober enough to realize that they are there. Last I remember, you forgot about the dinner that you were supposed to have with her grandparents and she got verbally abused for that.’
   “Take it easy fellas.” George warned, he could see that Lewis’s raised voice caught the attention of not only Dick, Harry and Kitty but that of Olivia and the group she was with. 
“This is not the time or place for this fight. I don't think Liv would ever forgive either one of you for ruining this night for her like her 21st birthday party and this is Aurora’s first party that she has been able to attend for at least a little while.”  
“Lew?” Olivia’s voice came as she came to a stop by his side, sans Aurora. The little girl was being twirled around the dance floor in her uncle Bill's arms giggling happily. 
 “Everything okay here? Hey guys.” She offered her friends a bright smile then her eyes landed on Joe. 
Her suddenly numb fingers grasped at the sleeve of her husband's jacket, “Joe.” 
 “Hey Livia.” He greeted as he stood up, her eyes trailing over her body. He had started drinking before they had left for the party and having Joe show up was going to make the situation so much worse than it needed to be. 
“Go sober up Lewis.” She returned before she walked quickly towards the propped open exit. Giving the drunk man a look, Joe followed her quickly.
“Come on Lewis, let’s get some coffee in you before you embarrass not only your husband but your wife and daughter.” Harry Welsh commented having heard everything that happened, he was one of the very few that could get through to Lewis when he was like this.

“It’s been 5 years.” Olivia started once the door swung shut behind him, “and all you can say is hey Livia? Do you have any idea what hell I have been through looking for you?”
 She seemed calm but he knew better, this was her way of baiting him into a trap and causing a major fight that ended up with them being in bed for a week. “I waited for 6 hours. 6 hours at the train station for you. I watched the train we had tickets for leave and two other trains come and go.”
“I am sorry Liv, I am so sorry,” he started holding up his hands showing the defeat he felt, “i didn’t want to leave you. And I have regretted it every single day since I did. Your grandfather, the right bastard he is, threatened everything. He threatened your life if I didn’t leave.”  Olivia, who had been rubbing her hands up and down her arms and pacing back and forth to keep warm, stopped in her tracks, “What?” 
Joe undid the buttons to his jacket and pulled it off before holding it out to her silently, he knew she hated being cold, that was the one of the  true southern Belle things about her, she didn’t do cold well.  
“Come on Princess, it wouldn’t be the first time you wore my jacket. I seem to remember you loved wearing my clothes.” Scowling, Olivia stepped forward and pulled her arms through the sleeves. Joe pulled it up and settled it on her shoulders.
 “He threatened to have you killed baby.” His hands stole under her the material and landed on her hips, “I couldn’t live with me being the fact that you were dead.”
  She didn’t push him away like he had thought so he pulled her  into  him, “He would have rather had his only granddaughter dead then married and in love with a lowly barber cabbie from San Francisco.”  
Tears were filling her eyes rapidly. 
“I loved,” he paused to correct himself, “love you too much to let you die.” 
“I almost did die.” She admitted softly, “I was pregnant with our child,” Joe closed his eyes and rested his forehead against hers, “that little girl that I was with? That’s your daughter Aurora.” He dug  his fingers into her hips and pulled her flush against him.  “I was a mess, I didn’t know what to do. I had you everyday for 3 years and we were running away to Italy to get married and then you were gone. I was alone and pregnant.” “Livia.” He started, he had heard the accounts of what happened from the boys and read the file, he didn’t want to hear from her.
 He couldn’t handle it. “You don’t have to talk about it baby. The boys filled me, Johnny said he and Pat and Harry and Kitty took turns sitting with you.”  
She nodded her head as she reached her hand to wipe the tears away, “Kitty and Pat were with me for most of the pregnancy, Johnny too. He was the one that was with me when I went to labor with Aurora.” He made a silent note to thank Johnny for stepping up and being there for Olivia. “Liv?”  Dick’s soft voice asked from the doorway,  “We need you back in here.”  “I will be right in.” She returned, cursing his timing. The tall man nodded his head and turned his back to give them privacy. “Sorry, duty calls.” His hands stole down from her waist to her ass, “I am not leaving any time soon. I am here to stay.”

That could have been his wedding to her, they had actually planned half way through their junior year to flee the country and go to Italy and get married. They had both saved money and were going to meet at the train station when Fredrick Stewart, Olivia’s grandfather, showed up at his apartment and threatened him and cut him a deal that if he left the state and went to another school, he would pay for it.
Leaving her was the biggest mistake of his life, the second biggest one was starting a relationship with Scarlett.
“Do you think she would let you back into her life?’ John Steveson asked as he came into the conference room.
Every single agent in the room that knew Joe and Olivia from college or still knew them froze, eyes going to Joe and then to the boss. “From what I heard from Olivia directly,” Chuck Grant spoke as he leaned back in his chair, “is that she is still in love with him. Still wears the ring he got her with her wedding rings and all. Wears the clothes he left in her room too. But it will take a lot of hopes and prayers that she lets him back in.”
‘This could be your second chance with her, Joe.” Johnny Martin commented from where he was standing on the side of the room, he was one of the few that had been rooting for Olivia and Joe to make it and had been the one along with his wife Pat that sat with her when she was in the hospital for trying to take her own life after he left her and she found out that her grandfather had everything to do with it.
Sighing, the former taxi cab driver rubbed his hand across the back of his neck in thought. “Yeah, okay.”
Olivia Nixon fidgeted with the strand of pearls that hung around her neck, she was in the backseat of a limo between her husband Lewis and Dick Winters, going to the burial ground in Charleston, South Carolina. Her grandfather had passed after a long tortuous battle with prostate cancer. And in her opinion, it could have happened a lot sooner.

They had both found it odd that she hadn’t cried like she did when her grandmother Stella died, she just acted like it was any other day and even got up with them and went to the conference call they had. “Remember when I was going to leave?” She finally asked, dropping the pearls down to where they could rest against her chest. “Vividly.” Her husband answered, his fingers still making the comforting track on her knee and the inside of her thigh.
Dick turned to look at them better, his own hand dropping down to cover hers, the cool metal of the plain gold band that she and Lewis had given him after they had gotten married offering as much comfort as Lewis’s touch.

“He found out from Daniel,’ Daniel was her older brother that she recently cut off from her life due to his addictions and how he treated her and either one of them blamed her. “That I was going to leave and go to Italy with Joe. And he went to Joe and paid him off.”
Both men exchanged a look over her head and tightened their grips. They had known that she wanted to leave for a while and spend time with Joe, just the two of them before she had to make the decision to follow through on the deal that she made with her grandfather for her to go to school. All they knew was Joe never showed and it broke her heart and she ended up in the hospital for over a week.
The doctor said it was because of depression and a mental breakdown due to school but they knew it was because of Joe’s sudden disappearance and heartbreak.
“I don’t regret this.” She said softly, “I don’t regret us. At all. I am pissed that he did that to me, he could have talked to me like an adult.”
Tears that she had been holding off for the last couple of days welled up and slipped down her cheeks.
“But it doesn’t stop you from missing Liebgott and the love you two had.” Dick whispered as he brushed some of the tears away. They had them tell each other they loved each other one more then once and it was so fiercely.
It was almost as fierce as his own declaration to Lewis.
“And it doesn’t stop the hurt.”
Olivia nodded her head as the limo rolled to a stop and the driver parked the car. Lewis got out of the car first and held his hand back into the backseat for her to take.
“You got this Liv, Lewis and I aren’t going to leave your side for a minute.” Dick assured her before pressing a tender kiss against her lips.
She nodded her head before taking Lewis’s hand and letting him help her out of the back of the car. She clung to Lewis’s hand, wishing things had ended up differently. And that Joe was there with them, and she didn’t feel like she had a hole the size of a fist in her heart. That her daughter knew her biological father. And that Lewis and Dick didn’t have to hide who they truly were.
Her grandparents and Lewis’s parents fucked everything up. ** “That motherfucker dropped dead!” Joe exclaimed, throwing the file on Olivia on top of his desk .
“What mother fucker?” Scarlett asked curiously from her spot across the table from him, she had taken a seat across from him and was writing notes in her notebook, things to ask Olivia about. Even questions about Joe that would never get answered.
“Her grandfather, he finally died.” Tab answered having read the statement over his friend’s shoulder. “Prostate cancer.”
“There is your sign, Liebgott, that this is meant to be.” Stevenson said, ignoring the look on Scarlett’s face, “We leave for New Jersey when they leave Charleston, give her to mourn or whatever it is she needs to do before we try and talk to her.”
** “It’s apart of the will, Mrs. Nixon that you have another child.” Olivia’s grandfather’s lawyer commented looking at the youngest Stewart grandchild who had been nursing a glass of whiskey, “to get your inheritance. And it has to be by your husband.”
“You got to be fucking kidding me.” Olivia swore after she downed the rest of her glass and set it on the desk in front of her, “He isn’t making my brothers push out another kid?”
“Liv.” James Jr, commented from where he was standing by the window. “Don’t Liv, me, James, this is bullshit, I don’t need his goddamn money.” She stood up wishing suddenly that Lewis or Dick had been allowed in the meeting with her. “I married into the goddamn Nixon family.”
She pulled the stopper out of the whiskey bottle to pour more into her glass but was stopped by James, “You have had enough. Aurora is here and she doesn’t need to see you drunk, she sees that in Lewis enough.” She scowled before nodding her head in agreement. James dropped his voice so their siblings and the lawyer couldn’t hear, “They didn’t say if it had be Lewis’s or if it could be Dick just that it had to be a Nixon, so there is that and I will look into it and see if there's a way around it okay?” She looked up at him before nodding her head. “Okay. Okay.” She agreed.
3 Weeks Later, Nixon, New Jersey
** There she was again coming out of the mansion she shared with Lewis and Dick. A sports bag slung over her, one of his old zip Cyrus- Ryer University hoodie, with the sleeve hanging off of her shoulder, showing off the shooting star tattoo with the 11:11 time stamped in the center, that she had gotten after losing a bet with him. Her blonde hair that was once long had been cut short and hung in curls upon her shoulders. He couldn’t openly study her like he wanted too, not with Scarlett and the others being around, he got enough shit especially from Scarlett who took every chance to rub it in his face that Olivia was being shown off on Lewis’s arm or Dick’s arm at different Nixon Industries events that were held leading up to the infamous Christmas party.
“Well I can say this for you, Liebgott.” Johnny Martin’s voice came, “You do have a type, Scarlett is beautiful but Olivia is even more gorgeous than she was back in college. Having Aurora helped a lot.’ There was a dull thud and followed by a curse word.
“Who the fuck is Aurora?” Joe demanded his hand freezing on the keys that he was going to use to start the car. “Johnny! Who the fuck is Aurora?!”
“Your daughter.” Bull’s voice came, “She found out the day you left about her. She tried to find you, hired people to look for you.” Joe wanted to spit out that it didn’t work and he was missing out his daughter’s life and god knows what else, “You didn’t think to include the fucking fact that I have a child out there?!” “It was under my orders.” Stevenson commented as he got into the passenger seat of the sedan he was in.
“Drive.”
Olivia was pulling out of the driveway and they needed to follow her. The others were on their way to the offices to wait for them to show up.
One of them was going to take a meeting with her and see where she stood with everything and Joe wasn’t going to be it. As much as they preached that Olivia was their ticket, she wasn’t, she was just the smallest piece in a much bigger puzzle.

This Dance | Joe Liebgott

It wasn’t often that the bulk of Easy Company had privileges on a weekend. Evelyn convinced herself it was absolutely because she had threatened all of the men within an inch of their life. If she had to spend one more weekend at camp, she would surely short circuit. So when they made it through the end of training on Friday, she was able to let out what felt like a breath she had been holding all week. 
When she exited her separate living quarters, several of the company’s other members were waiting for her. Talbert let out a whistle, earning himself a smack in the back of the head from Toye. Evelyn rolled her eyes in response, giving Toye a smile of approval. 
“Ready, darlin’?” Bull Randleman, her dearest friend, questioned. She nodded. Briefly, her eyes locked with Liebgott, who was biting back a smirk, quickly distracting himself with the cigarette he could put between his lips.
“Ready,” she said, smoothing her skirt decisively and turning on her heel. She had hoped they would mistake the blush rising in her cheeks as rouge. 
Three drinks in, the blush in her cheeks was permanent. The bar they had found themselves comfortable in was hot. The Georgia heat mingled with the warmth of too many bodies in a small venue. The wafting clouds of smoke from cigarettes only thickened the air. She was thankful to sit lower than the rest of them in her seat due to her petite stature, most of it traveled over her head. 
“Fifty bucks says I get the first Kraut kill when we hit Europe,” Guarnere spoke confidently. His accent only seemed to get thicker with each beer he downed. 
“Bullshit,” Toye challenged, slammed a hand down on the table, causing all of their drinks to rattle. Chuckles echoed in response. 
“Yeah?” Guarnere grinned, “you gonna get to ‘em before me?” 
“There’s not a doubt,” Toye lit a cigarette casually. “One gust of wind and your ass will end up in the middle of the Atlantic while I’m on Hitler’s doorstep.” He jabbed at the smaller man. The table roared with laughter and Guarnere chuckled through gritted teeth. 
“I’ll take both your money and take your broads out to dinner with it,” Luz spoke confidently, throwing his hat in the ring. 
“Whatdya say we get a dance in while these boys get out their measuring tape?” Bull nudged Evelyn with a smile. She chuckled, threw back the rest of her drink, and got to her feet. 
As the next song started to play on the jukebox, the two of them found space in the section of the room that was being used by a few other soldiers and their female partners. She felt Bull pull her close, surprised that he was so keen on dancing. 
When Liebgott surveyed the room, he felt a drop in his guts. Through the haze of cigarette smoke and crowd of patrons, he watched as Evelyn moved gracefully in the arms of Bull Randleman. He watched Bull’s hand, splayed at the small of her back, and remembered what it felt like the first time she let him touch her. He thought about the way her breath tickled his ear and neck when he held her that close. The things she had told him. Even more, the noises he had drawn out of her when they were flush against one another in that same way. 
He watched her rhythm, knowing it so intimately himself. The way he held those same hips as he guided her into that same rhythm in their most passionate moments. He thought about what it sounded like when she stifled herself, bit at her lips, his shoulder, the pillow, in attempts to keep their dance so secret. And here, he had to sit back and watch as she so publicly danced with someone else. 
“Liebgott,” there was an elbow in his lower ribs. 
He turned to Talbert, realizing the cigarette in his hand had burned down to a nub in neglect. Talbert furrowed a brow but asked now questions. Liebgott got to his feet and excused himself from the table, leaving his fourth beer nearly untouched behind him. 
When the song ended, Bull let go of her waist and thanked her for the dance. She scrunched her nose with a smile at him. He tried to escort her back to their table, stating that surely some of their other company members would want a chance to dance with her. She provided him with a kind excuse, letting him know she was going to get some air and she’d be right back. Only twice did she have to argue that she would be just outside the door, where she had seen both Winters and Nixon standing. He agreed, only content when knowing she had chaperones. Rolling her eyes at the endearing concern, she navigated the compact crowd of people toward the door. 
Anyone in their sober mind would have clearly observed the level of intent she had seen in Liebgott’s stare for the majority of her dance with Bull. There was an anger that had ignited in her that made it difficult to focus on Bull in those moments. Liebgott had made her a lot of promises, many of them in the throws of passion, that she had not taken with more than a grain of salt. But when she made him promise to keep the extent to which they had become acquainted to himself, she was sure he understood the severity of the matter. 
Liebgott stood outside of the bar, his back resting against the building next door at the mouth of an alley. He knew he could only get away with a few minutes away from the company. Someone would come shouting for him before too long. 
He was surprised when he saw Evelyn exit the bar with a relieved sigh. She nodded to Winters and Nixon, who were standing just to the right of the entrance, enjoying the much less congested air. They addressed her in kind, Nixon held up a glass toward her with a small smile. A less raw version of himself would not have had the intrusive image of himself taking a set of brass knuckles to Nixon’s straight, white, Yale-boy grin. A better version of himself, maybe. 
When Evelyn’s eyes connected with his, her smile fell. The hard line that set along her lips let him know that whatever it was that she was going to share with him, it was not going to provide any solace to his bruised ego. 
“You,” she gritted her teeth as she got closer to him. She glanced over her shoulder to assure herself that there were no interested ears. “You have got to get it together, Joe.” Liebgott bit the inside of his cheek at the sound of his name on her lips. He had only heard it when it bubbled up from deep in her chest in her most vulnerable, passionate moments. God damn, she was so fucking beautiful. 
“What?” He was genuinely confused. How was it that he was getting in trouble for her dancing with Bull? 
“You,” she shoved his shoulder. It was then that he smelled the liquor on her breath. She had been close enough to him that he had also caught the sweetness of her perfume. Something in him ached. “Looking at me like that.” 
He chuckled a little at her. How threatening she was, how powerful. But he knew her soft edges. He knew those vulnerable moments. He knew her fear. He had swallowed it whole for her with the slip of her tongue. He knew her. 
“Looking at you like what?” He asked. His voice teased her in a way that drew goosebumps to the surface of her skin. He stepped forward, daring her to close the distance between them. Her eyes fluttered in response, her tongue tied. She did not respond. He smiled slyly, not able to help the shift between them. This was his place. Standing before her, teasing her, flustering her. Did Bull fucking Randleman do that? 
“Don’t do that to me,” she snapped out of her daze. She steeled herself, squared her shoulders, put a step of distance between their bodies. The haze of the moment passed and she remembered just how public a venue he had started this dance in. 
“Do what?” Those coy responses were what got Evelyn into this mess in the first place. He wanted her to get drunk on him. Addicted to him. 
“If you get us caught, you know what will happen,” she threatened. Joe nodded in response. There were no playful replies to bite back when the reality of what they had gotten themselves into was brought up. She had told him the conditions of her presence with the company. Should anyone catch wind of anything unsavory, she was done. 
She knew he understood how much her career meant to her. She knew he respected it. Respected her. He, however, knew that maybe his deepest fear was that he did not know if he would ever see her again. And that reality was even more frightening than what he had waiting for him on the other side of the ocean. 
Joe nodded, clenching his jaw. They stood at the mouth of that alley, wordlessly standing in the mud of their own making. She reached over, the softness of her fingers against his, caused him to jerk his head up in response, looking over her shoulder at the officers just ten feet from them. She boldly stroked the inside of his palm with her delicate fingers. The same way she did when they laid lazily in her bed under the cover of darkness, sweaty, glowing, and drunk on one another. 
“Don’t make this end before it has to,” she squeezed his hand. “Please.” 
Joe met her eyes. The dimensions of light and dark in them were picked up by the streetlamp. He wanted desperately to wrap his arms around her, tighter than Bull or any man could ever fucking hold her. He wanted to kiss her, taste every unsaid word on her lips. To touch her in ways that would leave her gasping, begging, crying out for more of him. He wanted to tell her that his days started and ended with her. Every single one of them since the moment his mouth tasted hers.
“Evie!” There was a shout from behind them. She pulled away from him with a jolt, her curtain of dark hair whipped around her shoulders. 
“You’ve got a line of men in here wondering when they’re getting their dance!” Nixon called, speaking for the masses he was gesturing to inside the building. 
“Yes, sir!” She responded, smiling brightly. She turned to Joe briefly. He swallowed the ball of fire making its way up from his belly. ‘Be good,’ she mouthed at him. She turned on her heel, the sweet smell of her perfume wafting behind her as she made her way back to the bar. Joe let out an exasperated sigh and reached into his pocket for a cigarette.

Betsy watched as Olivia turned the final sealed letter from her brother James over in her hands several times. She had been doing that since the night before and it was starting to worry her and the other nurses. 
"Liv? Why don't you open it?" She asked softly as she went over to the head nurse's bunk and sat down on the end of it. 
"I can't." Olivia admitted softly as she stopped turning the letter over and raised her eyes to look at her friend, "It will make the fact that we lost him real. Ever since we were little, James has been Bobby's and my protector. You think Bobby and Edward were bad when it comes to me, Jimmy was worse. He always wanted a baby sister and when I came along.' 
'His wish came true." Adele added as she sat down on the other side of Betsy, Alice had sat next to her friend and clasped her hand in hers to stop the fidgeting.
  The blonde nodded her head in agreement as Lipton opened the door and called them to formation. Olivia tapped her finger against the slanted handwriting before she leaned over and put the letter back in her journal. It just wasn't her brothers' death that was bothering me, it was the whole almost screwing Joe Liebgott in the latrines. She was almost scared of those feelings that he had stirred up. She didn't know if it was lust or if she had fallen in love with him as quickly as she had with Lewis.
"Liv? Are you okay?"  Lipton asked, seeing that she was lagging, normally she was the first one out of the barracks encouraging her girls to hurry it along. "Yeah, Lip, I am okay.' She returned as she stood up, smoothing her hands over the material of her jumpsuit. It was a new uniform for the girls and she wasn't quite used to it yet.  
The Sergeant frowned, he along with several others could tell she wasn't okay but she was acting like she was, 'You know you can talk to me if you want, Liv.' 
 Her bottom lip trembled and she steeled herself, "Thanks Lip. Did he say what we are doing?' 
 'Classroom instruction most of the day. " She offered him a crooked smile and nodded her head, at least he wasn't going to make them be out in the rain, that was the last thing they needed. More colds were going through the platoons and making their way towards the nurses. If one got sick, they all got sick.

Instead of joining Liebgott and Talbert at their table like she normally would, Olivia opted to sit with Lewis and Dick near the front of the classroom.
 "Wanna talk about it?" Lewis asked, lowering his voice to where only Dick and Olivia could hear. She didn't answer right away, instead, she chewed on the inside of her bottom lip looking at Strayer who had just come into the classroom. 
"We know Liebgott followed you into the latrines." Dick offered up, keeping his eyes on Strayer, he knew that Olivia was a lot like him and didn't like this kind of attention on her. Anything to do with relationships or sex, and they both just shut down. 
"Did you?'  Olivia had expected Lewis to be angry instead he was curious and a little jealous, like he had been when he found out she had been sleeping with Bill after he left for New Year at his parents' house before going to Fort Dix. 
"No, Mary walked in before things could get too far. I think that they have slept together too." 
She answered, the familiar heat of embarrassment crept into her cheeks, and she quickly lowered her eyes to the desk to avoid Strayer's gaze when he looked over at the trio. 
Lewis made a move like he was stretching so he could look over her shoulder at Liebgott who was staring steadily at Olivia's back, willing her to look at him. '
'That may be sweetheart but I think he wants you more.'  
Olivia gave him a look that clearly said she didn't believe a word he said before Strayer called their attention to the front. Lewis dropped his hand onto her thigh and squeezed it, she slipped her hand off the desk and covered his hand with hers squeezing it.

"What did you do to Liv?" Tab asked quietly, he had shifted into the empty seat next to him once they realized that she wasn't sitting with them. She had been oddly distant from them since Sobel's raid and Joe following her into the latrines.
 "Nothing." He returned, shifting his gaze from Olivia's back to his friend. 
"Tell him the truth." Mary hissed, she had been upset with him since he had shown clear favoritism to Olivia and had resorted to one or two-worded answers. She had frozen everyone out and had to restrain herself from going up to Liv and causing problems with her. 
"Tell me what truth?" He perked up, he liked hearing how people messed up, and knowing that Joe somehow messed up with Olivia before they even got anything started made him almost happy.
 "That he followed her into the latrines and if I would have walked in, they would have had sex." Floyd's eyes went from his friend to where the Southern Belle was sitting, surprised. Some of the girls were more open to doing stuff while Olivia and Lily were more shy about it. Though he had heard stories about how Olivia and Lewis had been together and the rumors about OCS and how she was in the same barracks as Nixon and Winters. So he wasn't sure what to believe. As if she felt his eyes on her, she glanced back at him and offered him a smile before turning back to the front before Strayer realized he had lost their attention. From the stories they heard, Strayer could be more strict than Sobel and they didn't want to set him off.

Adele bounced her knee as she sat next to Bobby at the table behind Talbert, Liebgott, Mary, and Grant, this whole thing made her nervous, she didn't care much about the knowledge stuff, it was the practical stuff that they needed to know. How was this knowledge going to save men's lives? Or even theirs? 
"Addie, relax." Bobby muttered, placing his hand on her knee to keep it from bouncing, "We are almost done and then we will have lunch."
 She glanced at the hand on her knee and then at his face, "I am just going stir crazy. This isn't going to help us at all." 
He knew she was right that the nurses needed to have more practical training whereas the men needed it all. He also knew that the other girls hadn't had any sort of military training like his twin did. 
As soon as their grandfather found out that she was watching, they pulled her into what they were doing. She and Marla both knew how to clean and put together a rifle and fire it. Their great-grandmother Belle once she had heard that Olivia was going into an active war zone, sent her the small pistol that she herself had used during the Civil War shooting the Yankee that tried to sexually assault her and she shot him.
As far as he knew, Olivia had been working on showing the girls how to defend themselves with what they had in their medical bags and if she could teach them how to use handguns or rifles she would. As much as she worried about him, Lewis, and Bill, she would about the girls. And from the looks of it, she was starting to worry about the other boys.

"You going to sit with us Liv?" Tab asked once they broke for lunch and the head nurse was gathering her notebook and pencils to put back in her medical bag. "Yeah, Princess, we missed you," Joe added, causing a pink tinge to cover her cheeks. 
"I don't think Mary will appreciate me being with y'all."  Her green eyes found Mary who was giving her an open hostel look. Like she could take Olivia’s eyes out for being close to Liebgott and Talbert. 
The Sergeant shrugged his shoulders and held his hand out to her, he couldn't care less what Mary thought about Olivia. He enjoyed having her around, she brought a lot of softness to everything and after being surrounded by men for so long, he enjoyed it. 
Fighting a smile, she took his hand in hers and let him pull her to her feet. 
"Why did you hide up front with Nixon and Winters?" He asked settling his arm around her shoulders as they walked towards the mess hall, she shrugged her shoulders, "I needed to as much I love y'all it was for the best."
Talbert stopped them from walking with the others and waved them on, "Why was it for the best? Because you were embarrassed that you got caught almost fucking Joe in the bathroom?" 
Her cheeks flushed angrily and she turned her head away and went to move away from him causing him to click his tongue and move to stand in front of her, his fingers catching her chin to make her look at him while his free arm went around her waist. 
"Or is it because of Mary stopping it?'
She released a breath she didn't know she was holding, "It's just not that Floyd. I am homesick, I miss James and Nick."
He squeezed her hip, Bobby had told them about their two older brothers that they had lost first at Pearl Harbor and then in Midway. He pressed his lips against her forehead and hugged her waist tighter, she didn't need to hear it was going to be okay, she just needed to be comforted.
"I can't open the letter from James, it was the last one that he finished before they took off for the mission. Dick Best sent a letter with it and mentioned that it was and how proud Jimmy was of me." 
"Did Mary try to say anything with that?" Floyd questioned, his dark eyes searching hers, his anger flooding him. 
"No, but Amber did, she said that Jimmy and Nick were both disappointed in me because I slept with Bill and Lewis."
 The anger turned to surprise as he arched his eyebrow, "Ain't nothing with exploring your needs baby. As much as you take care of us, you need to take care of yourself and your needs."
 "Hey, Bean!" Bobby's voice came from the doorway, "Get yer ass in here! They have spaghetti!" 
Olivia laughed and pulled away from Floyd, since living next door to the Guarnere's, they got spoiled almost every Sunday with homemade pasta and sauce. In fact, Augusta started teaching Olivia and Marla how to make it. 
"Comin’, Bobby." She returned, before grasping Floyd's hand in hers and pulling him into the mess hall behind her. 
“Bean?" Floyd laughed, causing her to shrug her shoulders. 
"No idea. My great-great PawPaw started calling me that when I was little. If you call me that." She paused and  turned to point her finger in his face, "Floyd, I will never talk to you again." 
He laughed and held his free hand up, making a mental note to ask Bobby about it, he knew that he would be more likely to tell him compared to Liv. Especially if it came to their great-great-grandfather, the older twin was more likely to open up about it. That and he didn't want to lose her friendship just quite yet, especially with the way she was finding herself standing up to Sobel. Only time would tell how much the girl was going to change.

Joe offered Olivia a smile and nudged her with his elbow once she joined him at the table, Talbert steps behind her, giving him a look over her head. Silent telling him not to do anything to mess this up. The two of them were a package deal with Chuck Grant and Mary. He knew the next step of this was going to get Olivia and Mary to get along. That was going to be a feat on its own. 
Bobby, who had sat down across from them, reached out to grab the piece of white bread off of his sister's tray only to get his fingers slapped by her,  "Robert, don't touch."
 "My own sister." He huffed annoyed.
"Don't touch my food."  She pointed her noddle-filled fork at him, "You know better. And Frank.' Through the din of chatter and scraping forks, she heard Frank Preconte, saying it wasn't spaghetti, it was army noodles with ketchup with a mouth full. "Please swallow before speaking."
"And there's the prim and proper southern belle." Bill teased, twisting to look at Olivia who was glared at him.
"You know better too, William. Swallow." His eyes danced mischievously, he wanted to say that they both knew she swallowed but that wasn't the time or place. 
"Ey! Get out of here!' Bill scolded as Hoobler twisted to grab Frank's plate.
 "Boys." Olivia huffed as a whistle blew and Sobel, Amber, and Evans came in, "Orders changed! Easy is running Currahee!" 
'Mother F." The head nurse muttered as she pushed herself away from the table.
 Joe grabbed a hold of her waist and put her in front of him, so he didn't lose her in the crowd. Silently she dropped her hand down and covered his hand with hers. Joe fought off the need to go switch his hand around and twine their fingers together like they had in the bathroom before Mary interrupted them but it was because of her and the fact that Sobel was still in the room, giving Winters a smug look and Olivia's anger flared, she hated that he thought he could get away with this, and he was waiting for one of them to mess up so he could revoke the pass.
They finally had a weekend's pass and they didn't want it revoked at the last second not with Frank and Johnny's brides being in town and not with Joe's date with Olivia on the line. They all needed the time away from Sobel and Amber even if it was for a couple of hours. The girls who had been there for a month had been told about their first pass and how Sobel saw one of the boys dancing without his jacket on and reamed him for it.
"Liv, I swear to god if Amber isn't running Currahee, I am going to be so pissed," Alice complained as she squished into the line in front of her and Joe, her eyes going to their hands and back to her friend's face that clearly said she didn't want to talk about it.
"I know, I am going to be pissed too but there's not much I can do about it."
"That's a load of bullshit, Liv." Johnny Martin said from her side, "You are in charge of the nurses, not Sobel and honestly you letting them two walk all over you is kind of ridiculous."
"What do you want me to do Johnny?" She returned twisting her head to look at him, "Last time I ended up repeating marches and we got passes revoked." "You are a smart girl, you will figure it out and you won't let our passes get revoked." By this time they all knew that Joe was taking Olivia on a date and they all wanted to see if anything would come from it. Most of them were betting that something would.
Olivia knew that Johnny was right and she should take control of her merry band of nurses, she just had to use the newfound confidence to do so.

"Sargent Scott, you need to dress out to do the run with us," Olivia ordered once they were outside and she caught sight of Amber standing there.
 "What?" 
"You heard me, Sargent. You need to dress out and run it with us. If I run it, you run it." 
"But."
 "I don't care if you are sucking Captain Sobel's dick, I am the one in charge of the nurses, not him, and you have to do what I say. And if Captain Sobel doesn't like it he can take it up with General Sink and General Forbes." She answered, "Now fall out."
Amber glared at her and then turned to Sobel who was openly gaping at her.
"Do as she says." He muttered, already trying to find a loophole but he wasn't finding one, Olivia was right, she was in charge of the nurses and even Sink and Strayer when they had found out what he had done to the nurses' belongings told him that yes, they were under his command for most things, but they followed the rules of the Nursing Corp more and Olivia was the CO not him, so he couldn't punish them like he did the men and in turn for what he did to them, he got a mark on his record and was told if he did it again, he would be stripped of his rank and Winters would become CO and him the XO and he didn't want to give that control up to Winters.

"I am going to be sick.'  Betsy complained as they started up the hill, the girls for the first time were sticking together instead of being spread out through the group. Mostly because of the tell signs of the men being sick. For a lot of the girls, including Olivia who could handle blood and guts, if she heard or saw someone being sick like that, they would get sick too. 
"Bets, I love you but," Olivia paused to fight off the rising wave of nausea, "please shut up." 
She didn't know any better she was sure that Sobel did this to them on purpose, he wanted to see if he could weed out any of the weaklings who hadn't already dropped out due to the stress of trying to keep up with the stress of the training and the stress of being under Sobel. But those who were remaining seemed to be stubborn and stupid enough to stay and keep going on with the torture that was the paratrooper training.
They had just gotten to a curve where the nausea got to be too bad causing Olivia to veer to the side and empty her stomach out into the bushes. 
"Liv? You good?" Alice asked pausing to leave the ranks but Liv held out her hand to stop her, "I am fine, keep going, I will be right behind you."
 Alice hesitated, unsure if she wanted to leave her behind but she knew better than to not take an order from her so she turned and started up the hill again.
Olivia coughed several times to make sure she didn’t throw up again, her mind racing a million miles a minute. She knew that they couldn’t keep going like, if they went into combat with Sobel a lot of them would be killed and there was nothing really they could do about it. 
Slowly an idea started forming in her head, it would take a lot of work but if she did it right it would work. Smirking, she hustled over to the girls again. 
Just in time to hear Sobel taunt Bull, 'Private Randleman, you look tired, there's an ambulance waiting for you at the bottom of the hill." 
"Ali,' Olivia warned seeing her hand curl into a fist, "Bull won't react, and neither should you." 
"But is it okay for you to react?" She returned as Sobel's voice rose, "No pain, No more Currahee. No more Captain Sobel."
 "Liv? What's with that look?" Betsy asked from her other side as she used the sleeve of her PT shirt to clean off the remaining sickness off of her mouth, "I don't like that look."
 "Don't worry about it Bets." She returned as George Luz started singing, "We pull upon the risers, we fall upon the grass." 
It started out slowly just within the row where George was with Bull and several others then it started working its way back through the other platoons back to the nurses who between coughs and pants started singing. 
"Liv, seriously, I don't like that look," Betsy complained, she was worried that her friend was going to get into trouble.
"I wouldn't worry about Liv,' Alice panted, "She always knows what she is doing. And now is no different."

Bobby wasn't necessarily thrilled when he heard that his sister was going on their weekend pass with Liebgott, but at the same time, he knew that he couldn't tell her no. She would just do it all behind his and Edward's back like she had with their parents when she and Bill started dating and deep down he knew that he and their other brothers wanted Olivia to be happy, she had spent so much of their childhood and all of their teenage years putting others in front of her.
Himself included.
 "Hey Liebgott, got a second?" He asked as he finished tucking his tie into his shirt.
"What's up, Bobby?" Joe returned, his dark eyes going from the open door where they could hear the laughter coming from the nurses who were slowly gathering at the end of the barracks to him.
"I know you are going with my sister tonight, just do me a favor and don't hurt her."
"I would never." Joe was actually being honest about that, if it had been any other nurse or even Mary, he would never promise such a thing, he would fuck them and then leave them,  but because it was Olivia and he wanted her more than anything in the world, he was willing to promise it. 
"Good, because if you hurt her, I will kill you, and Edward and Lee will help me hide your body." Bobby returned with a smirk. Lee was their third oldest brother and was in the Marines along with their brother Daniel and was fiercely overprotective of Olivia, Marla, and Katie. Even more so than Bobby and Edward. 
"And I will help.' Talbert added the night before he had guard duty with Olivia and learned a lot about her and about the Stewart family and felt oddly protective of her. Not in the  I want to date you way but in this girl is my friend and I want to make sure she is okay type of way. 
"I won't," Joe assured them before stepping out of the barracks and heading over to the nurses, his breath catching in his throat when his eyes landed on Oliva who for the first time he had known her, she wasn't in her uniform, she was dressed in civilian clothing, her hair was down was hanging down in loose curls compared the victory curls that the other girls had. He cleared his throat and took a step forward.
"Liv," Betsy commented, inclining her head towards Joe, the head nurse turned around and offered him a bright smile.
"Ladies," He greeted before holding his hand out to Olivia, "You ready Princess?"
  Warmth spread through him when her eyes twinkled and the dimple in her cheek deepened at the pet name and she stepped forward taking his hand. 
"Don't do anything I wouldn't do." Daisy teased from where she was standing with Evie, Adele, Ruthie, and some of the boys from Dog Company. 
"Oh, honey," Olivia returned teasingly as Joe twined their fingers together, not caring that Mary was staring hostilely at them. "I am planning on doing everything you would do and more."
Since she had taken control over the girls again and brought Amber back in line, her confidence soared and it felt good. The confidence made her feel like she could go do anything and everything. 
"That's my girl." The blonde teased, causing her to wink and blow a kiss. 
Laughing, Joe steered her away from her nurses, "What exactly do we miss when you lot are together?"  
“A lot of girls talk.” She returned, “A lot of which is centered around you boys. Who would date who if fraternization was okay.”
  The interest he was willing to fake turned into real, he had been expecting it to be like pulling teeth to get her to talk about anything other than training, “Oh, and who would you date?” 
She was quiet for a moment as he pulled her through the crowd of men from Dog and Fox company towards the long winding road that led to town, “You were at the top of my list, Nix and Tab right behind you.” 
“Really?” He smirked; it was surprising that he was at the top of her list given the rumors surrounding her and Lewis, “What about Winters? You two seemed awfully cozy.” 
“Dick?” She laughed, “We are just friends, I was moved into the barracks with him and Lew in OCS after my fight with Amber, he helped me through James’ death. Besides, the man is shy. He walked in on Lew and me once and he went red. Like redder than his and Malarkey’s hair.”  
“Walked in on you and doing what?”  He paused and moved to where he was standing in front of her, their clasped hands resting against her lower back, causing butterflies to fill her belly like they had two days prior. 
“Same thing we were doing before Mary walked in but I was mostly clothed.” 
“My sweet Liv isn't as sweet as she seems.” He teased enjoying the pink tinge that covered her cheeks. 
“Oh? So I am yours?” She returned, causing him to pull her to him, chest to chest, his dark eyes searching hers. 
“You say the word princess, I would make it happen.” The teasing was gone and the serious, almost angry Joe that she had come to know in the last month and half was in front of her. “Well?” 
“I, um,” She stammered, not sure how to react to this. He was so different from Lewis, who she could always tell when he was teasing her. Joe not so much. Maybe that’s what made her so interested in him. 
Smirking, Joe brushed his lips against her, first soft almost feather like then again, firmer and full of want. 
She whined when she felt his hardening cock pressing against her, her free hand making a desperate path up his arm and shoulder to fist in his dark hair.
A low groan met her ears as he pulled her tighter against him, wishing suddenly that they were alone and he could make love to her. 
“Get a room Liebgott.’ Skinny Sisk commented as he and Amelia, the nurse who replaced Louise who had to leave due to a family emergency, walked past them.  
“Shut up Sisk.” He returned pulling away from Olivia’s mouth, his dark eyes studying her face, her cheeks were flushed pink, and her eyelids were fluttering, her chest was heaving against his from trying to catch her breath. 
“Remember Livvy, don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.” Daisy teased as she followed the rest of the group before turning to Ruthie and France telling them to pay up. 
“Were they really taking bets on if we wouldn’t make it to  town before this happened?” She asked, causing Joe to nod his head and press his lips against her forehead. He had to rally to get those without pulling her into an alleyway. 
“Figures, my brothers did the same thing with me and Lew.”
 “What is the deal with you two?” He asked pulling away from her to lead her into town, “He’s more of a shadow to you than Bobby is.” 
“Let’s not talk about that tonight. There’s a lot to it and it’s really heavy, and we have enough heavy right now.”  
He nodded his head, he wasn’t going to press it not now not when he was so close, that was something for them to discuss down the line.

“Mary, come on.’ Chuck Grant called seeing the brown-haired girl staring after the couple who disappeared into the diner.  She wanted to go after them and spy or try and get involved in it or both. She knew that she and the other girls were easily replaceable and that Sobel would do anything and everything he could to get rid of them and she had worked too hard to leave now. 
“Don’t worry too much about that.” Bobby commented as he joined them, his jacket already undone and tie loosened, “My sister isn’t ready to settle yet, after everything that our mother put her through and having to uproot our lives to take care of Fredrick,” The older twin shook his head as if to rid himself of the bad memories. 
“Not to mention the stuff with Bill.” Talbert commented, “Sides isn’t there something going on with her and Nixon?’ 
“You could say that.” He started pulling out the flask that had been gifted to him by the Nixon family when he graduated high school and a promise to go to Ireland to stay in the family castle when the war was with.  
His sister on the other hand got the diamond earrings she was wearing that night and an offer to pay for her nursing school again, after the war. 
Stanhope and Doris had been informed of the lie that Lewis told Katherine to stop any sort of crazy plans that she had for Olivia and Marla and decided that if Olivia was their pretend daughter-in-law, then they had every right to spoil her.  
“What aren’t you telling us?” Mary prodded, they had all known him well enough to know that there was more to the story than what he was saying. 
“Our mother hates Olivia and our younger sister Marla. She never wanted daughters, to her sons were more valuable. When Liv and I were born, Katherine thought she took the spotlight off of her.” The man may have been standing there with them but his expression looked hundreds of miles away, “And in a way she did, she was the first granddaughter. “ He paused again, “Before we moved back to South Philly after Fredrick got to be too much for her to take care of on her own.”  She almost broke down when Fredrick threw things at her, cursing her, telling her she wasn’t Lydia, it broke his heart. All Liv wanted was to help him out, and she got treated like that, “Katherine came to visit with this man that was old enough to be our grandfather and wanted to have Liv marry him for his money.” 
Talbert, who had been silently flirting with Ruthie, one of the nurses from Dog Company turned to look at him surprised, “Seriously?” 
Bobby nodded his head again, “Olivia refused, said that she would join the convent that Aunt Cissy was at then marry someone that she didn’t love. She is a hopeless romantic that girl.” He rolled his eyes, “I think that’s why she was so enamored by Lewis. And him with her. He came swooping down the same week that this happened and was Liv’s escort to that goddamn debutante ball.” 
“Liv? A deb?” Talbert was floored and he couldn’t wait to see the couple and give Olivia a hard time for it. As much as Olivia was a lady, he couldn’t see her being a deb and doing all of that. 
“There are pictures, pretty sure if you ask Liv, she has them with her.’ Bobby shuddered, he had to be involved with it and hated every moment of it, even after Lewis started passing around the flask. 
“But what does that have to do with them now?” Mary asked, “Nixon is like her shadow.” 
Bobby shrugged his shoulders as he took another swig off of the flask, “Your guess is as good as mine. All I know is that she stopped the wedding when he was going to marry Kathy.”
Mary, who had been quiet throughout the whole thing, paused, “Are they together?” The older twin who was raising the flask to his mouth froze, his sister would kill him for bringing this up, "Not necessarily, they made a deal that if she is still single at 21 they would actually get married."
"What do you mean actually?" Talbert asked. 
"Lewis told this huge white lie about how they got married after Liv stopped the wedding so she didn't have to marry Davis down the line." While Mary looked at this like a victory, Talbert and Grant understood why Lewis did this; he wanted to save her from a loveless marriage and get her heart broken over and over again. If they had the choice they would've done the same thing.
"Mare, don't." Bobby started as if he could read what was going through her head, "She already has enough on her plate without you fucking things up for her."

“Who’s your friend Joe?” The waitress asked as she came up to the table with a flirty smile on her face. She made sure that every time that one of the men from Easy Company came in she was the one that waited on them. And Joe, Talbert, Bobby, and Grant in the few weekend passes that they had quickly became her favorites. 
“This is Liv.” Joe returned as he pulled Liv into the booth next to him, his hand going to her knee stubble hint that he wasn’t there to flirt or do anything else. Liv was his date. “She is the head nurse and is Bobby’s twin sister.” 
“This is the waitress that my brother was talking about?”  Olivia asked,  the familiar Charleston dialect met Hannah's ears as she tapped her pencil against the notepad, her smile fading, wondering what was exactly said when they all left town.
"Mhmm," Joe agreed, causing her to squint her eyes and study the girl before nodding her head.  "Makes sense, Bobby always goes for the pretty girls." 
Hannah brightened  at the girl's statement, "We heard Bobby had a sister, we just didn't know that she was going to be here with us."
"He wasn't expecting me to be here either."
"But we are damn glad that you are here." Joe threw in, his eyes fully on Olivia who offered him a bright dimpled smile. The warmth spread through him again and he slid his hand closer to the hem of her skirt but her hand grasped his wrist stopping it. 
"Stop.' She mouthed causing him to grin and capture her mouth with his. She laughed against his mouth and pushed his shoulder to push him away from her, "You are trouble."
"I know.' He returned, pressing another kiss to her mouth, if they could have gotten away with staying at camp away from all the prying eyes and Sobel, he would have opted to stay there with her instead of being with the crowd. She had been the only girl that he had ever met that made him want to do that. Not even Mary, the woman that held his attention for two weeks before the nurses arrived or any of his previous ex's made him want to do that.
Hannah huffed annoyed before jotting down their drink order and going back to the kitchen area to get them.
"I don't think she is necessarily a fan of me being with you." Olivia started as she released his wrist. "Oh well," He shrugged as he trailed his hand under her skirt touching her bare skin. "Joe.' She warned, but made no moves to stop him, "Behave."
"Babe, I hate to tell you, but I never behave." He went to press his lips against hers again and was stopped by a tiny voice yelling, "Auntie Bean!" She pulled away quickly, and smiled, "Eddie!" She slipped out of the booth and scooped her nephew into her arms, and rained kisses on his face causing him to giggle and try and push away from her.
"Where's your daddy and mama?" The little boy pointed a chubby finger behind him toward the door, sure enough, Olivia's oldest brother and his wife were standing by the hostess stand waiting to be seated.
 Samantha had caught sight of the man in uniform waiting for her and raised a questioning eyebrow, Edward had said something about Olivia going out with one of the boys in her platoon but she didn't think she was actually serious about it, her eyes searched out the man who had slid out of the booth as well to talk to her son who was staring at him, wide-eyed.
"I really hope she knows what she is doing." Edward sighed, "Joe is a known womanizer, he hooked up with the girl in his platoon and a couple of the waitresses here."
"I think your sister will surprise  you.' His wife returned as Olivia sat their son back on his feet and set him running back to them, "If she can get Lewis to want to change his ways, why not with Joe?" 
The older Stewart shrugged his shoulders watching as his sister slid back into the booth with Joe, he didn't want to admit his worry that his sister was going to get her heart broken by Joe and she would have to be constantly around him and have that reminder that he just wanted her for sex.

Joe caught Olivia's fingers in his hand as they settled at the table with Floyd, Grant, Skinny and several others had been at, and studied the rings that she had on her ring finger; he had noticed them before but never thought to ask about them. "The top one is from Lewis, it was a birthday present." She started using her free hand to point at the band with the dark red stones, "It caused a lot of problems between him and Kathy and me and her. She found it in his bag and assumed it was for her like she did with the earrings and necklace."
"God damn, Princess, what did you do to deserve this kind of stuff?" He questioned after a low whistle causing her to drop her hand onto his crotch and caressed his hardening dick.
"Fuck."He hissed lowly, "Careful.'
She turned her head and pressed a kiss to his cheek as her fingers caught his zipper.
"Liv."
"The other one is from Bill.'
 She carried on like they were having a normal conversation, "A promise more or less that he was going to do better and try and win me back." Her fingers pulled down the zipper and slipped inside grasping his length.
Growling lowly, Joe fisted his hand into her wavy hair and brought their mouths together kissing her, as she worked her hand up and down his length. 
A clearing throat broke Joe away from Olivia's mouth with a groan, he had been so close to cumming  and the fact that they had been interrupted pissed him off.
 "What?!" 
Floyd's laughter caused his anger to soar and Olivia to blush and bury her beet-red face into his neck. 
"Not funny Talbert. At all." Joe huffed as he pressed his lips against the top of Olivia's head.
"Sorry, but Liv's brothers are coming and I am sure she doesn't want them to see how wild she can be." Floyd returned, dropping into the seat next to her.
 Still blushing wildly, Olivia pulled away from Joe's neck and looked at their friend, "Thanks Floyd."
He nodded his head and pointed a finger to his cheek causing her to roll her eyes and lean over and kiss it. 
"Staying out of trouble?" 
 The lazy smirk pulled on the corner of his mouth, "Never.' 
"Why do all the men in my life say that?" She questioned, her eyes searching out first her twin brother who was with Adele sitting cozily together in the corner booth to where Lewis was at with Peacock and Khein and then to Bill who was with Evie fighting.
 "I swear, I spent half of high school pulling Bobby out of trouble and then in OCS pulling Lewis out of it." 
"Well, that's what wives should do for husbands." Mary's voice came as she joined them at the table.  
Floyd straightened when he felt Olivia tense, her fingers curling around the handle of the mug of beer tightly, "We aren't married." 
"That's not what your brother told us." She returned, flipping her brown hair over her shoulder smugly. 
'Did he also tell you that Lewis made it up to save me and our younger sister Marla from marrying someone old enough to be our grandfather? That our mother is so money and power-hungry that she doesn't care about her daughters well being and happiness? That was she okay with us possibly dying?" 
Joe had straightened as well looking between the two girls, he was surprised that Olivia was going to keep this from him after everything that they had shared with each other only an hour earlier. If he was a better man, he would have felt guilty about being with another man's wife, legal or not but he wasn't. He wanted her so much that he was willing to overlook this fib. But there was part of him that was furious that she didn't tell him earlier. 
Why was that too heavy to discuss? 
Mary almost looked stunned, she hadn't expected Olivia to stand up for herself like this, she had expected to be able to steamroll her into leaving Joe alone. This Olivia was different from the one she had grown accustomed to.  She didn't know if it was a good difference or a bad one. 
"Did he tell you that Kathy was a total bitch and that's why I stopped it?" Olivia's voice raised to where it alerted Lewis of what was going on and he came over to the table. 
"Liv? You good?" His hand went to touch her shoulder but she flinched away, for the first time, ever. 
"What in the hell happened?" He ordered. 
'Apparently, you two are married." Joe returned, his own anger that had been simmering from being interrupted and the fact that Mary had to bring this up. 
"So?" The 2nd Lieutenant questioned, a part of him wanted to back Olivia up and confirm what she was saying and the other part of him wanted to cause chaos and with the Vat .69 going through him he decided that it was the best option. "She may be my 'wife' but I am not going to stop her from doing whatever or whoever she wants. Even if it's you."
"Lewis!' Olivia exclaimed surprised, she couldn't believe that he was acting like this. 
"What? Liv, it's the truth, you know and I know it." 
"What's wrong with me?" Joe asked standing up, his hand wrenching free from Olivia's.
"Joe." She started standing up as well, putting herself between the two as if by their own free will, Joe's hands went to her hips and rested there pulling her back towards him, covering the fact that his fly was still undone. Thankfully, he had tucked himself back in when Olivia removed her hand, so they wouldn't really have a clue about what was actually going on other than making out, "Nothing is wrong with you. Lewis is just drunk.' 
"Am not." 
"Lewis, I know you as well as I know myself." Olivia started, 'You are drunk and you need to sober up.' 
"If I wanted someone bossy, I would have married Kathy. Not someone who is okay with being a slut." 
Joe's fingers tightened on her hips almost painfully and Bobby, who had just joined the group after putting it off, inhaled sharply. "Lew, that's enough." 
"If you wanted someone who would treat you badly and use you just for your money, then you should have married Kathy. You could have stayed at the church but you followed me, you were the one that thought up the whole oh, let's pretend we are married to piss off Katherine. Not me. You could have said no and left at any time." Olivia's voice trembled with hurt and unshed tears before she extracted herself from Joe's embrace, "But you didn't.  You agreed to wait until I was 21 if I didn't meet anyone else."
 The emotions that she had been holding onto for so long started bubbling up and she was afraid that she wasn't going to be able to push them back down.  
"I am um going to go back to base."  Her voice trembled as she turned to press her quivering lips to Joe's cheek, "I am sorry, I will make it up to you."  
"I will go back with you, Lieutenant." Ruthie, who had been sitting next to Floyd offered. "No honey, you stay and have fun. I will be okay."

*Because part of me is selfish and wants to add more to what we see in the show, I am kind of doing things a little out of order*

A lot of the girls were struggling with the obstacle course, PT, and running the hill, no more so than Adele Rogers, the soft-spoken girl from Seattle, Washington, she was a little shorter than the other girls and had to jump up to get into the tunnels and then up to the wall. 
But Olivia insisted that they stayed together and worked through it and in turn, her twin brother Bobby, Floyd Talbert, and Joseph Liebgott dropped back to help them out. At first, Adele thought it was because Bobby didn't want to see his sister,  especially fail and because Liebgott was sweet on Olivia having witnessed the flirting between the two when they weren't under the watchful eye of Sobel and Bobby and Floyd who were trying to stop it. 
But then she started to realize that unlike Sobel, Bill Evans, and Roy Cobb, one of the privates in the first platoon, most of these boys had their best interests at heart, even if it was for their own selfish needs. Talbert was open to admitting that often flirted with Olivia, Daisy, and Lily. The latter of the trio blushed wildly and stammered through conversations. He was often scolded by Olivia for teasing the poor girl. 
Unlike the rest of them, Lily, who was in Dog Company with Edward Stewart and Ronald Speirs, wasn’t used to being surrounded by men, even loud friendly ones. From what they were able to piece together was that Lily’s father was abusive and beat the poor girl down until she was nothing, the call from the Nursing Corp came at a good time, like Katherine, Olivia’s mother, Lily’s father, Arthur was going to force Lily to marry someone who was old enough to be her father. She had run, changing her name and never looking back. 
They had all respected that. She thought that was part of the reason why the mysterious Speirs took a liking to Lily and took her under his wing.
“Come on Addie.” Olivia’s voice shook her out of her thoughts and she looked at the girl who had come back to her side, her green eyes dancing in amusement, “We need to get over the wall and Sobel is watching.” 
Adele cringed, “Isn’t he always watching though, almost creepily?” 
 The answering unladylike snort that came from Olivia was answer enough for her. It was almost uncomfortable the way Sobel stared and leered at them, so much so that none of them wanted to be in the same room with him without another nurse or one of the boys with them. Thankfully, he hadn’t escalated yet and tried anything with them. 
“I don’t know how I am going to get over that freaking wall.’ She changed the subject as she followed her toward the tunnels. “Get a running start.” Bobby offered up, “Bean, go first. I will stay”
 “Yeah, c’mon Princess. Race ya. Loser buys drinks next time we get a pass.’ Liebgott offered up. 
“Yeah,” Olivia laughed, “Sure if Malarkey or Frank don’t get our passes revoked.” 
In the month they had been at Toccoa they hadn't been able to have a pass because of little things that Sobel found to be not up to snuff. It drove them all crazy. Honestly, she was already sick and tired of hearing about the boys not getting laid. At first, it had surprised her how quickly they forgot about the social norms. But there was really nothing she could do other than being or trying to be a sympathetic ear. 
Adele looked at the older twin quickly checking if he was okay with his friend openly asking his sister out. To her surprise, he just shook his head, he must have figured that they were both going to do whatever they wanted. They were in the middle of war and life was going to be short, who was he to stop them?  After everything his sister had been through with Katherine and taking care of Fredrick, she deserved a little fun. As much as he hated it.

“Stop Joe! You cheated!” Olivia laughed as they both came to a stop at the end of the course, for the most part, he had stayed close by her until the end when he took off running, causing her to curse and chase after him. 
Still laughing he shrugged his shoulders, took steps forward, and slung his arm around her shoulders pulling her back to him. He could enjoy seeing the light blush covering her cheeks. He resisted pressing a kiss against her cheek before turning so they were facing the group that was still making their way towards the end of the course. 
“I will still pay for drinks.” He muttered lowly in her ear. “On one condition.” “What’s that?” She prodded before yelling out encouragement to Adele. “It's just the two of us. No Bobby, no Floyd. Just us.” 
Pursing her lips, she thought for a minute before nodding her head in agreement, “Fine. Yeah! Addie!” Adele had pulled herself up and over the wall and had a triumphant smile on her face. Bobby who had come over the wall behind her grabbed her by the waist and hoisted her up. Causing her to shout with laughter.  
"Sometimes," Joe's voice was low in her ear, as he clapped his hands in encouragement, "All it takes is the right kind of encouragement." 
"Is that so?" She returned as Adele tore across the opening and into her Lieutenant's arms, causing Joe to snicker and move his arm from her shoulders to her waist to hold her up so they wouldn't tumble to the ground. He wanted to admit that the thought of taking her out on the weekend pass was the encouragement he needed. But at the same time, he wasn't sure that he was ready to settle at all. Olivia was a girl who needed a boyfriend, not a bootcamp fling.

"Excuse me, Lieutenant Sobel." Amber started seeing the flat-footed man outside of the officer's barracks, everyone else was heading out to dinner in the mess hall a couple of hours later. He turned to face her, a sneer forming on his face. The hatred and distaste he had for the women were growing stronger with each day that passed. "I think I have a way of getting Olivia Stewart out of both of our hairs." Sobel paused, he could hear Olivia's laughter coming from down the pathway, Bill Guarnere had gathered her up in his arms dipping her down to the ground, and proceeded to rain kisses all over her face.
"I am listening." He started folding his arms, he was tired of not being able to do anything about the nurses. But if one of their own was willing to do something about it, he was going to take full advantage of it.

"Bill, stop,  you are embarrassing yourself!' Olivia laughed as he raised her back upright, his hand lingering on hers. "Me? Never." He laughed before releasing her hand, she had scolded him about the flirting and how he should focus more on Evie than her, and how they could get removed from the program.
 Evie joined the Army Nursing  Corps to be with Bill, not because she wanted to make a difference. She wanted the relationship with Bill where Olivia found herself moving further and further away from her childhood sweetheart and more towards someone like Lewis or even Joe Liebgott, who over the last week or so she had started forming a friendship with.
She gave him a pointed look and then glanced at Evie.
"You know," Talbert commented, settling his arm around her shoulders, they had all heard the shouting match that the two had gotten into after he had seen her and Nixon wander off together to talk, "We would pay big bucks to see you two together." His dark eyes darted to Evie then back to Olivia who glowered at him.
"In your dreams pal."
"Only every night babe." He returned, causing her to roll her eyes and smack her hand against his chest.
"You are a pig." He offered a cheeky smile followed by a loud smacking kiss against her cheek before letting her slip away from him. "Just the girl I was looking for.' Sobel's nasally voice came from down the pathway causing everyone to deflate and roll their eyes and Olivia to stiffen.
 Bobby took a step forward ready to pounce on the man if need be. She had come to him the night before near tears about how Sobel was making them uncomfortable and as much as she was playing it off like everything was fine, it wasn't.
 'After the night march tonight, you and Cobb are going to be on guard duty."
"Yes, sir." She flattered, she had dreaded spending time with Cobb after the advances he tried on her and the other girls. But if she had to do it, she had to do it.
 "Don't worry Liv, we are on right after." Bobby muttered darkly, normally the duties were two or three hours at a time, "We will make sure nothing happens to you."
 "If worst comes to worst." Floyd added, "Stab him with your scissors."
"Gladly." There was a small twisted smirk forming on her face. As much as her oldest brother claimed her innocence, there was something about her that could be downright evil. It made her twin brother proud. 
Cobb, who had been within the ranks of the 3rd platoon came up to the group smirking, “Olivia.” “It’s Lieutenant Stewart.’ Bobby corrected, and while Olivia was okay with most of the men and permitted them to call her by her first name, she still had every right to be called by her rank, which she rightfully earned. 
Cobb rolled his eyes, “She isn’t my Lieutenant.” “She is a Lieutenant.” Talbert threw in before the tempers that Liebgott and Bobby had flared, “And she does deserve your respect. She worked just as hard as the other Lieutenants.” Her hand caught his and squeezed it in thanks as Liebgott led her into the mess hall, out of the line of the fire.  
“Oh come on, Talbert, the only reason why you pretend to respect her is because you want in her pants.” The blonde man complained, “I mean, I don’t blame you, I want to fuck her too.” 
A heavy hand dropped onto his shoulder, and he turned his head to meet the fiery blue eyes of Robert Stewart. And his heart dropped to his stomach. “Roy, let’s go have a chat before we go to dinner.”

Olivia stifled her yawn behind her hand as they marched, she was sandwiched in between Talbert and Liebgott. Every Friday night since they had been there and their passes were revoked they had marched and each march grew longer. They were now at 12 miles, in the pitch dark, full packs and dead silence.
The silence that all the girls hated.
Especially Olivia who was used to the constant noise of the old houses settling or of siblings fighting or over-talking each other to be heard. Only tonight was different, she had heard Pat Christenson coughing and dropped back to check on him and told him to drink the water. That they were forbidden to drink from, he was fighting a mild cold and slight dehydration and Olivia wasn't going to let anything serious happen to him. They had all come too far with this for someone to drop out because of an illness.
“ Lieutenant.” He offered, he knew that there would be hell to pay when Sobel found out that he drank from his canteen. But he wanted to listen to Olivia, she was like Winters and Nixon, and she seemed to know what she was doing. And if he remembered correctly, Bobby told them stories about how his twin was constantly talking about how she patched him and the older brothers and younger sister up. 
"I will handle Sobel." She said firmly, a determined twinkle in her eye before returning to her place between Talbert and Liebgott.
"I hope you know what you are doing Princess," Joe whispered.
"I always know what I am doing.' He glanced over her head at Talbert who smirked and shook his head. She was going to cause a mess of trouble, there was no doubt in his mind. But he would do anything he could to pull her out of it.
"Lieutenant Winters." Bull Randleman's voice came from in front of her causing her to perk up causing the two men on either side of her to laugh.
"What is it?'
"Permission to speak sir."
"Permission granted.' Winters returned, Olivia didn't need to see his face to know that he was amused, she could count on one hand how many times she had seen that man amused. This was a rare treat.
"We have 9 other companies sir, why is it we are the only ones that are out here marching 12 miles in the pitch dark with a full pack." 
"Why do you think Private Randleman?" 
"Lieutenant Sobel hates us, sir." "Lieutenant Sobel doesn't hate Easy Company, he just hates you." There was scattered laughter through the ranks.
"Thank  you, sir."
"He hates you too, Muck.' Talbert teased knocking his knuckles against Skip's helmet causing Olivia to laugh softly and shake her head. 
"Amber is the only one he likes other than Evans." Adele's voice floated forward. Amber was the only nurse not marching with them that night. 
"Why do you think that?" Olivia returned curiously, they all had their theories on what was going on, and she had rushed whispered conversations with Lewis and Dick about theirs when they could have them. 
"Well." The girl paused, trying to find the right words that wouldn't embarrass herself or
 the other girls. "I kind of walked in on them the other night."
"Easy Liv!' Chuck Grant exclaimed as he bumped into her, she had stopped dead in her tracks at the statement.
"Sorry Chuck." She said before moving forward again, falling back into step with Liebgott and Talbert, "What were they doing Addie?"
 "You know."
 "No, we don't sweets." Liebgott called, earning a slap on the chest from Olivia, causing him to catch it and hold it against his heart, "You wound me, princess.' His heart flipped in his chest when he saw the bright dimpled smile on her face. 
"You know it."
"Sex." Bobby filled in, his amusement clear in his voice.
"Aw! Gross! Bobby!" Repeated complaints filled the air at that. 
"I really, really didn't need that image in my head," Alice complained from where she was near the front with Bull and Johnny. 
"Me either." The other 3 nurses agreed, pulling faces. All thankful that it was dark enough to where the men couldn't see how horrified they all were.
"Where is Lewis when I need him?" Olivia muttered, "He has whiskey." Trying to drown the image out of her head was going to be the best option.
"There is one way to get the image out of your head." Talbert started as they turned to go line up in front of the barracks, "Creating your own images. We will be happy to help you with that."
All the blood rushed to her face and neck and she was thankful that her uniform and too-big helmet covered it, the last thing that she needed was to be teased again, Lewis did that enough. 
"Oh, um, I, uh." She stammered, she had only really had Lewis tease her like that before having a man who was a near stranger say that was shocking. Her shock was saved by Sobel, Evans, and Amber appearing.  
The latter smirked at her CO's misfortunate having to march with the men and the other nurses. Olivia, who pulled herself away from the 1st platoon made her way up to the front, to stand next to Dick, like she had been told to. Lewis, Peacock, and Shames joined them seconds later.
"Liv? You good?" Lewis asked lowly, he could see the faint red tinge on her cheeks and wondered what he had missed by being further back.
"Later, Lew, later." She muttered.
"Lieutenant Winters, canteens out and open," Sobel ordered, his beady eyes going over all of the company. "Canteens out and open," Dick ordered not risking to look back at the other officers, he knew the moment he made eye contact with Olivia, one of them was going to
 break and it was probably going to be her. And they didn't need to have a scene caused right then.
Sobel gave the command to pour and started going up and down the rows of men looking for one of them to mess up so he could have them repeat the march.
 "Who is this?" He had found his target, Pat Christenson. "Private Christenson. Were you told not to drink on the Friday night march?"
 "Yes, sir." "You disobeyed a direct order. Lieutenant Winters."
"Lieutenant Sobel." Olivia's voice cut over his command causing everyone to freeze, no one actually cut him off before, they had all thought about it and never did it, "I told him to drink sir.'  
"What gives you the right?" Sobel spat, spinning around to face her. 
"My rank in the Nursing Corp sir, it is my responsibility to make sure these men are healthy
 enough to go into battle. And Private Christenson is sick." The man's hands formed fists and he stalked towards her. 
"He wasn't healthy. So I made a call." Her eyes dropped down to his fists, "What are you going to do with those fists Lieutenant Sobel?"
"Oh don't do it Liv," Lewis muttered, he knew that she could drop the fact that her godfather was the General over the parachute infantry. He was even over General Taylor, with whom they were all familiar. Her saying anything about that would make it five times worse for her and for Bobby. 
But Sobel seemed not to put two and two together and it was almost like a game to see when Sobel was going to figure it out.
 If he did. 
Realizing that Winters, Nixon, and several others were inching closer to where they were standing, Sobel loosened his fist and stepped away. "Both of you refill your canteens and repeat the 12-mile march now! Fall out!" He finally spat. “Yes sir.” The two parroted back and Olivia smirked as she passed Lewis and the others. She had known exactly what she was doing when she had told him to drink, she knew that she couldn’t do 2 hours alone with Cobb on guard duty. He was still smarting from the ass beating he got from Bobby, there was no telling what he would do to her. Olivia had been quick to put two and two together when her brother came into the mess hall with bloody knuckles. The rest of the boys had been quick to start teasing Bobby once Olivia scolded him and started cleaning up the blood knuckles. Then she turned her attention to them, lecturing them too, which amused her brother and Nixon greatly. 
 **
“You didn’t have to do that, Lieutenant.” Pat finally said as they started back out on the march. “It’s Olivia please.” She waved her hand, “And yes I did. Sobel thinks he can bully everyone and anyone he thinks is below him, including the women. But I am not going to let him.”
 He was silent waiting for her to go on, it seemed like as quiet as she seemed she had a lot to say about Sobel. 
“Y’all worked too hard for him to f-” she caught herself from swearing, if it was Lewis, Bobby, or Bill she would have been more open to cursing, “mess it up. I think the best thing that we can do is rise above his crap and prove we are the best. You boys have Winters, Nixon, Keihn, Peacock, and Shames, they outweigh everything that he has done wrong.”  
“We also have you Olivia.’ He cut in, “and the other girls. We all work extra hard to impress you.”  He was awarded with a bright smile from her. Something that only was granted to her twin, Bill, and from what he had seen Winters, Nixon, Talbert, and Liebgott. 
“You lot are a bunch of flirts you know that?” 
 He laughed before shifting the machine gun on his shoulder again, they all knew it, it had started being a competition between them to see who could get to one of the nurses first. Olivia because of her rank and the fact that she was one of their own’s twin sister was out of it. 
"So are you though, you flirt with  Lieutenant Nixon.” 
‘Honey, there is more to the story with me and Nix than y’all know. I am sure you know that I dated Bill right?” Her eyes were on the path in front of them. “We heard, your brother is very vocal about his displeasure with Bill and his relationship with Jenkins. We also heard you slapped both of them.” 
“I did, it happened right before we left to go back to Charleston. Frederick, our great-great grandfather was on death’s door and wanted me to go out and take care of him.” She started, her fingers catching the strap of her medical bag, “I reminded him a lot of his daughter Lydia who was killed during the Civil War.” 
‘And where you go, Bobby goes.”  They had all seen it, Bobby was fiercely overprotective of his sister, and her going to OCS and then to Meade was the longest they had been separated. “Bingo.” She laughed using her free hand to push her helmet up, “I hadn’t made up my mind to go back until then and I think my grandfather and great uncle Finn knew that so Finn was already on his way down from DC to get us.” 
“Wait, is Uncle Finn, General Finnigan Stewart?” 
“You catch on quick Pat. Yes, he is mine and Bobby’s godfather, but we don’t want that to go around too much. I already got enough crap at OCS for it.”  He made a motion like he was zipping his lips causing her to laugh softly before carrying on with her story.

Once the anger cleared and they returned to their barracks,  Sobel realized that Olivia had gotten out of guard duty with Cobb and he had to figure out a way to get to her. “Son of a bitch!’ Sobel cursed, throwing his jacket onto his footlocker. 
“Sir?” Evans asked as he shut the door to their barracks. Much like Winters and Nixon, they shared a two-man barracks which was kiddie corner from the nurses' barracks. Evans knew from watching Sobel that he just had to angle just perfectly on the two steps that were attached to the building, you could see into the small window that was on the nurse’s barracks door. “She got out of guard duty with Cobb.” 
“Maybe it’s for the best, sir,” Evans started almost thoughtfully, “we shouldn’t be messing with them too much. The men are much more agreeable when they are around. And,” he paused, he like some of the others put two and two together with the Stewart last name and the general in charge of them being a Stewart too. “And what?” He spat angrily, he couldn’t believe that Evans wasn’t backing him like he thought he would. 
“It’s nothing, never mind.”  He returned, Sobel was digging his own grave and he was going to have to lie in it.

“Hey.” Lewis laughed seeing the head nurse coming into the mess hall, dark circles ringing her eyes and shoulders slumped, “There’s our girl.”
 ‘Good morning.” She returned with a yawn, she had gotten back to the barracks a few hours before and tossed and turned before having to get up for the day. 
“Is Christenson okay?” Dick asked as she joined them at their table, she pushed the plate of slop that she had gotten to the center of the table and opted to pick up her coffee mug. “He is fine now. Betsy is checking on him right now.” She returned, ‘I think it was just a cold and stress from being with Sobel 24/7.”  
Raising an eyebrow, Dick pushed the slop back towards her, he knew that they were all stressed and if OCS was anything to go off of, Olivia was stressed out and when she was stressed she snapped a lot more and didn’t eat. And when that happened, Olivia got super angry and was more than likely to snap.  She frowned and picked up her fork. “Can’t be any worse than what Katherine made.”  Lewis teased nudging her with his elbow. “That’s funny, that you think she cooked Lewis.”  She laughed, 'Everything I learned, I learned from Andie, and thank god for that.” She paused taking a sip of her coffee, ‘Do you think what Addie said last night was true about Amber and Sobel?”  “What about them?” Lewis asked looking between the two, Neither one of them had said much of anything after the confrontation the night before. “Supposedly, they are having sex.” The tips of Dick’s ears went red and a pink tinge covered Olivia’s cheeks as she answered. ‘If it is true, you can go to Sink and get Amber sent home.” Lewis mused, but Olivia quickly shook her head, “No, that is the easy way out for her, and after everything she has put me through so far. “ She shook her head, there was a part of her,  that yes wanted to ruin Amber’s life but the other part wanted to ruin her bit by bit. It was just going to be a waiting game to see who would win out.

“Don’t think I don’t know what you were doing Olivia,” Sobel commented later that morning when she came up onto the mock airplane to practice their practice jumps, he had just snapped at Smokey Gordon who broke his legs. And now Olivia was standing in front of him.
“I am sure, I don’t know what you are talking about sir.” Olivia returned innocently, “I am just doing my job, just like you are.” There was a choked cough from behind her and Sobel turned his glare to her brother who was standing behind her waiting for his turn. “Yes, you do.’ He sputtered, stopping from cursing at her. “Lieutenant Sobel, I think you need to get out of the heat. Heat exhaustion is a dangerous thing. Excuse me.”  He gaped at her as she stepped into the opening, her eyes glanced down at the sand. 
This part was easy, it was the actual jumping out of the plane that was scaring her. Taking a deep breath, she counted 1,000, 2,000, 3,000 like the others before as she jumped off the platform. Unlike Gordon who went before her, she landed on her knees and threw her hands out to catch herself. 
“Ow.” She muttered as she stood up to brush herself off before turning to look up at the platform again. Her brother had caught her eye and offered a smile and a thumbs up. He had pushed himself forward and butted in front of the others so he could be close to his sister, he knew how much flying and going out of the plane terrified her. When she found out that James was becoming a pilot, she prayed every single day and Bobby was sure she still did even though he had been gone for several months. 
“You know something.” Amber started, she had been standing waiting for the rest of the nurses to finish so they could go into their classroom lecture. “Don't start Amber, I am not in the mood.’ Olivia ordered, it was short and clipped something she wasn’t used to, she was starting to sound more and more like her mother and she hated it. Amber squared her shoulders and took a step forward so she was standing closer to her. 
Causing her to take a step back, glowering angrily, “I am warning you, Sargent, back off.” Amber smirked and took another step forward, “You have no control here, Olivia. Lieutenant Sobel is in charge and he likes me over you.” “And that’s completely fine for you Amber.” Olivia returned, “You should start thinking about settling down. I mean a girl your age,” Out of all the girls, Amber was the oldest at 24 while Olivia and the others ranged between 18-22 years old. “Should start thinking about settling down. And Lieutenant Sobel is perfect for that. And for you.” Amber’s hand twitched like she wanted to slap her but she knew that if she did, she would be out of the program and Olivia would win. 
That was the last thing that she wanted.

10 Days| 1| Band of Brothers x Masters of the Air crossover
*So I went back and forth about posting this but I figured since I liked it so much that I may as well post it. I know its not likely that this happened but for the sake of fan fiction, it will work out. *
Summary: Most of the men of first and second platoons of Easy Company heads to the Stewart household at the head of the family, Franklin’s urging. And for the first time since August they were from the constraints of having Sobel around watching their every move and they were able to fully be themselves and explore those building feelings that weren’t able to explore under his watchful gaze.

One: 10 Glorious Days. 
East Company.
January 1943
10 days. 10 glorious days without Hebert Sobel and Amber Scott sounded like an absolute dream and to be able to go home and celebrate Christmas late and Marla's sweet 16. 
Made it all seem so much better. This was the first time since June that Bobby and Edward would be home since June and the first time that Olivia would have seen any family since July.  
The whole thought made being stuck on a hot sticky rickety bus with a handful of the smelly men from 1st and 2nd platoon and Dog company worth it. 
"Look at that smile.' Bull Randleman teased as he reached forward and poked a fat finger in the dimple that appeared on Olivia's cheek when she smiled brightly, like she was then. 
"What? I can't help it." She returned, pushing his hand away from her face. 
 "10 Sobel and Amber free days? It's a dream."
 "Not to mention," Bobby commented from his seat across the aisle from his sister and Liebgott, "Our grandparents are throwing a party for Marla. And that means that Olivia gets to get all prettied up." 
"Your point?" She shrugged, "After wearing uniforms for 6 months straight, I would even wear a damn corset again. If it meant being free of this."  
Bobby pulled a face, he went to Atlanta with Olivia and their aunts for the premiere of Gone With The Wind and Cissy insisted that the girls wear the corset and Bobby had to cut her out of hers at the end of the night. 
"I personally," Liebgott started turning his head to talk directly into her ear, "Can't wait for you to wear dresses again. Easier access for me.' 
Olivia flushed and slapped his shoulder, since they had started sleeping together, he was more open to teasing her and finding ways to get her into his bed or him into his bed.
There was just one rule, don't flaunt it around the boys. They didn't need any fights breaking out, again. The one fight between Joe and Bill was enough.  And honestly, Olivia didn't want to deal, there was only so much that she could handle and she was nearing her limit of bullshit and they all knew it. 
They had all hoped that the 10 days away from Amber and Sobel and the extra stresses that she had piled on with being the first Lieutenant would help reset her.
"Did Amber go with Sobel back to Chicago?" Lily asked peering around Pat Christenson to look at Olivia who shrugged her shoulders again. When it came to Amber and Sobel, she tried in vain to not know anything about them  
"They went to Brooklyn.' Lewis's voice carried from the front of the bus where he was sitting with Dick, Edward, and Ronald Speirs; they had been listening to their conversation mostly for amusement. They all became more animated and alive, the further away from Sobel they got. 
"Why do you know that sir?" Mike Ranney asked surprised, no one ever cared enough about Sobel or Amber to know these things. 
"I have my ways." 
"And this is exactly the reason why most of the girls are scared of you Lew." Edward Stewart groaned. 
"There is only one girl that matters and that is your sister.' Lewis returned, there was only one person that knew what he knew about Amber and her family and her relationship with Sobel and that was Dick and he was keeping his mouth shut. 
Especially since it was tied to Olivia's safety.  The oldest Stewart sibling dropped his chin down to his chest and groaned, his sister's personal relationships were so complicated and he hated that he knew anything about it.
Her fake marriage to Lewis, he knew about and backed up because he was there when the fight happened and Lewis claimed that they were married. 
But her relationship with Bill, Dick Winters, Joe Liebgott, and Floyd Talbert, he didn't need to know about. As far as he knew and wanted to claim that his sister was innocent and only slept in the same bed with Lewis to upkeep the charade.
The rumor mills had been running rampant that Olivia and Dick had hooked up when she had left Liebgott behind in town after a fight and spent the rest of the 48-hour pass in her shared barracks with Dick. It had gotten to the point where both Olivia and Dick had been brought into Sink's office and questioned about it. He had even pulled aside afterward and asked her about it. She had been so embarrassed that he asked her about it that she shut down on him completely. 
He shook his head to rid himself of his thoughts and looked out of the window in time to see the generational Stewart family home come into view and his 3-year-old son standing on the front porch holding onto Marla's hand, their youngest brother Steven was standing next to him, his big brown eyes dancing in excitement much like Olivia's had been since they got up that morning and boarded the bus, their nephews and lone niece surrounding them. 
"Bobby, Liv, look out of the window.' He called back, causing Bobby to get out of his seat and cross the aisle into the seat that Olivia and Liebgott shared.
"The only kiddo that I don't see is Katie." Bobby commented.
 "She is probably sick again." Olivia frowned, their youngest sister Katie had been sick on and off her entire life and none of the doctors or specialists that they took her to couldn't figure it out.
"She will be fine." Bill threw out, he had seen the worry from all of the Stewarts when they had to take her to the hospital when she was just shy of a year old.  He had even taken turns sitting with the girl himself after school some days to give Andie a well-deserved break. "All she needs is a visit from her older siblings." 
Joe's hand found Olivia's and squeezed it, she had told him and Talbert one night about her youngest sister's health issues and how they had been told to prepare for her to pass before her time. 
The bus driver threw open the door and Edward was off the bus and scooping up his son who was squealing in excitement. The rest of the boys stayed in their seats letting Olivia and Bobby exit the bus to go up to their siblings and the littles to greet them first. Two older gentlemen, one in uniform and the other not along with an older lady stepped onto the porch to greet them. 
Liebgott's eyes were glued to Olivia who took her youngest brother Steven from Marla and pressed kisses on his face leaving behind red lipstick stains behind causing the little boy to complain and wipe his cheeks off. 
The pull he had felt towards Olivia tugged again, this time stronger. They all knew that Olivia was going to be a good mom with how she acted with them when they were hurting but seeing her with a kid just made it more true. 
The night before, she and the nurses were in the barracks with them and she had snuck into his bunk and curled into him, making him want to make the dream of her being his wife true. At first, the thought scared him, he didn't want to get married right away or have a baby and it wasn't because of the war, it was because of his mother and how she left him and his five younger siblings alone. He didn't want to do that to happen again or to be the one who left. It wouldn't be fair to his partner or the children. 
"Joe.' Her soft voice shook him out of his thoughts, he was the only one left on the bus, "Come on, Nana and Papa want to meet you." She held her hand out to him, which he took instead of letting her lead him off of the bus, he pulled her into him and pressed a needy kiss to her mouth. 
She whined and pressed against him.
"Stay with me tonight." He muttered against her mouth. 
"My room. You will be with Tab and Chuck.' How she knew that he didn't know but he was okay with sneaking into her room to be with her.
"Alone?" He nudged his nose against hers not ready to get off of the bus and put on a show that they were nothing more than friends. "Mhm, perks of being a Stewart."
"Olivia Franklin! If you don't get off of that bus right now young lady."  The older woman ordered, causing her to laugh and pull away from him.
"Coming Nana.' She returned pulling him off of the bus behind her. Ellen Stewart was standing alone on the porch, a slender hand on her hip, the rest of the group had already moved into the house, and she had wanted to meet the man that her granddaughter was writing home about. 
See if he was worthy like she had hours before when John Egan showed up with her step-granddaughter Isabelle. All they wanted was for them to be happy and if they were happy with men in uniform then they weren't going to stand in the way.
"Nana, this is Joe Liebgott." Olivia started hiding their clasped hands behind her back, "Joe this is my nana, Ellen."
"It's nice to meet you ma'am. Livia has told us a lot about you." He took the older woman's hand in his and was surprised when she tightened the grasp and stepped in closer to him, her blue eyes much like his Olivia's studied him closely, "She has told us a lot about you too. All of you boys in fact." Ellen said before releasing his hand. 
A wild fleeting moment, he was worried that Olivia told her grandmother about their romps in the shower and in the alleyways. The two normal places for them to hook up. If they had the chance tonight to be together it would be their first night in a bed and he was planning on taking full advantage of it. 
"All good things I hope." He started as Olivia squeezed his hand and stepped in closer to him. An instance that never happened before. 
Not even with Lewis. Sure, Lewis gave her confidence and loved her but just by looking at the two, Liebgott was head over heels for Olivia and she was head over heels for him. 
She could tell that they were ready to admit to each other and he wasn't ready to settle but the moment it happened was the moment that everything was going to fall into place for them.  
"All very good things." She returned as a little voice called for Olivia causing her to smile and step away from him. 
"Come 'ere Katie girl." She squatted down and held her arms out to the little girl who rushed into them. Dark blue eyes peeked over her sister's shoulder to Joe who offered her a smile and wink.
 "Who's that?" Katie asked, fisting her hand in the dark green material of her sister's uniform.
"I am Joe." He started going over to the older Stewart girl's side and squatting down next to her, 
"I am friends with Livvy and Bobby." 
"Like Lew and Billy?"
"Exactly." His mouth quirked at the corners hearing how easily the little girl called Bill, the wild one of the bunch, Billy.  
"He is cute sissy." She tore her eyes away from Joe to look at her sister.
 "Yes, he is."
 "You gonna marry him?"
 "Katie." Olivia groaned, causing her to laugh, every time Olivia brought a boy home who wasn't Bill, she asked her the same thing.
 "We will see Katie." Joe started after clearing his throat, surprised that she asked that. 
"Don't lie like Bucky."
"Who the hell is Bucky?"
"Oh, Izzy is here with a couple of the boys for the 100th bombers" Ellen explained, skipping over the language, she had figured that both Izzy and Olivia learned it from being in uniform and around young men who didn't have to follow social norms.  
"Izzy is here?" Izzy was Andie's oldest daughter who had gone to England 4 years before with her father and they had only ever exchanged letters since and the lack of return letters made sense. 
The worry that Olivia had held at bay came back tenfold and sensing it Joe put his hand on her lower back rubbing it. 
"Yes, it's a long story Liv. She got hurt at the airbase and while she was recovering she came here, she has been here for about 6 months." 
"How did she get hurt? How did she get involved with the 100th then?" 
"That you will have to ask her. She is mum about it." She returned, "We set her up in Maureen's old room.' 
Maureen was Franklin's younger sister who was killed in 1864 along with his twin sister Lydia, their mother, and youngest brother, and her room was attached to Olivia's by a bathroom. 
 "Go on up and talk to her, I will show Joe to his room."  She nodded her head before turning and pressing a kiss to Joe's cheek. Katie pulled away from her sister to stay with her grandmother and Joe. 
"I will come find you when I am done."  She muttered, pressing a kiss against his cheek and slipping into the house to find her sister. “Do me a favor Joe.” Ellen started as Katie took his hand and to lead him into the house. “Just don’t hurt her. She has already been hurt enough by Bill.”  
The words I promise felt heavy on his tongue for the reason that he hadn’t been able to let go of Mary and fully be with Olivia like she had asked him to do nor had he been honest about his previous relationships. He had made up a story that at the time sounded good but now that he had gotten to know Olivia, he had realized that the story was a stupid one and he shouldn’t have blurted it out. And Ellen seemed to know what was going through his head, instead of forcing him to say anything, she just patted his shoulder and turned to go into the house.

We are finally getting to things in the mini series.
August 1942
Toccoa, Georgia
"Hey! Bobby!" Lewis called, seeing Olivia's twin brother and Bill Guarenre going towards one of the newly built barracks. The older Stewart twin turned around and offered Lewis a smile. " 
'Ey Nix! How is Liv?" Bobby asked, he had figured that his sister wrote more to Lewis about things than him. She didn't want to worry him. She worried enough about everyone for him.
"She was stressed when we left Benning, Amber was causing a lot of problems for her. She only slept maybe one or two full nights of sleep since we found out about James' death. Had nightmares, she moved into the barracks with me and Dick." He returned shaking Bobby's extended hand, ignoring Bill for the most part, Olivia had told him about what happened the night after he left to go home for New Year's.
The older twin nodded his head, he had heard all about it from Olivia and how she broke Amber's nose. He had been so proud and disappointed all in a messed up instant. He knew that Olivia had it in her to do something like that but she just never did anything. Maybe it was his and their older brothers' fault because they were always there to defend her.
'She told me about Amber, I only have ever heard that much hatred from her for one other person.' 
"Kathrine." Lewis filled in with a laugh, "She told me all about the visit that your grandfather made her do." 
"There was a visit?" Bill asked furious, that he hadn't been let in on it. 
'Yeah, Katherine's father, that mean old bastard, showed up at the house and since Olivia is too sweet to say no to her elders, she went to see Katherine at the prison. The long and short of it was that she hated that our father agreed to let her join and that Katherine hoped she died."
 "Jesus," Bill grumbled pulling a smoke out of his pack, he didn't know anyone who hated their own flesh and blood like Katherine McHale did and his heart went out to Olivia. He should write to her again to check on her, "Is Liv still in Meade?" 
"Not sure," The intelligence officer answered, there had been rumors that the girls were going to start going into the active war zones and some were going to be attached to certain units and a lot of the rumors were the nurses were from Meade. 
"The last letter I got from her was saying that she was in charge of like 20 nurses and they were speeding things up. The boys in the Pacific are getting hit hard. They are talking about sending the girls into active war zones."  
There was a violent look that passed in Bobby's blue eyes. One of the older Stewart brothers, Daniel, if Lewis remembered correctly, was in the Pacific with the Marines and they hadn't heard from him since just after the attack on Pearl Harbor.
There was no love lost between Daniel and the twins, he was more of Mama's boy and favored Katherine than their father and stepmother like the rest of the kids. The last time they had all been together, he had said some extremely cruel things to both Olivia, Marla, and their sisters in-laws, including Edward's pregnant wife.  Edward, who had the patience of a saint, lost his temper and got into a physical fight with him. 
Lewis had been sure if he had access to a pistol or rifle, Daniel would have been dead. 
"Lieutenant Nixon,"  Herbert Sobel's nasally voice came from down the gravel pathway, "I need you to go meet the next bus that comes in." 
 Rolling his eyes, the Yale man turned to look at him, they had only been there for a few days and already Sobel was pushing a lot of his responsibilities like this off.
  "Why?" 
"We are getting nurses, why I don't know. I don't want to know." Sobel had already made his mind up that these girls weren't going to last and he was going to do everything  Lewis went ramrod straight at that, and out of the corner of his eye, he saw Bobby and Bill straighten as well. If they were getting nurses, that could mean one thing. 
Olivia. 
She could be there and be going into danger with them and it scared them to death.

"This is a bad idea.' Amber complained for the 100th time since they had left Camp Meade for Toccoa and it was wearing on all of them.
"Amber, for everything that is holy, would you please shut the hell up?" Olivia asked from where she was sitting near the front of the bus, "We are all scared and tired, repeating your same complaint about everything isn't going to change anything. We are doing this. you had your chance to leave but you didn't. That's your own fault."  
"She has a point." Daisy pointed from her spot in the seat next to the first Lieutenant, over the last few weeks, she had formed a friendship with Olivia and started to see her as a girlfriend compared to a superior officer. 
"Oh, of course, she is." Amber snapped, "Just agree with everything that she says."
 "Well at least, she won't end up getting us all killed like you would." Betsy shot back annoyed, this was an all too familiar argument that the girls had after Olivia had been moved out of the barracks and in with Dick and Lewis.  In an effort not to further the fight, Olivia dropped down to sit down on the seat fully and look out of the window.
Sensing that there was something bothering her friend more than just the upcoming change, Alice slipped between the seats and into the one that Olivia was sitting in. 
"Wanna talk about it?"  She whispered, covering her hand with hers.
"No, just don't feel well is all. That time of the month." Olivia admitted she didn't want to breathe into existence the 48 terrifying hours when she had thought she had been pregnant with Lewis' child. After she stopped the wedding and they confessed their feelings for each other, Lewis stopped using protection. A small oversight on both of their parts and when they saw each other again at Benning, it just went on. And all hell almost broke loose. 
Alice hummed in agreement, not believing her but leaving it be. When she was ready to talk about it, she would, she always did. Her eyes found the gate the same time that Olivia did and she tightened the hold she had on the hand.  
"Here we go, ladies.'  Olivia called back before twisting the ring she was wearing on her ring finger around.

Lewis was waiting with Dick, Edward Stewart, Ronald Speirs, and several of the other Lieutenants when the bus pulled up, a nervous knot building in his stomach. His dark eyes started searching out for Olivia, quickly but couldn't tell her apart from the other girls who were on the bus. 
"Who are you looking for Lew?" Edward teased, "Your girl?" 
"If you mean your sister, then yes. These girls are from Meade." 
The lightheartedness that Edward left his body and that unfamiliar fear took over. If she was there, he was going to march her right back onto the bus and send her back to Meade where she would be safe. She should never have to see the horror that they were going to see. 
Sure enough, the first girl off of the bus was Olivia followed by Alice and the rest of the girls. Colonel Sink who had come up cleared his throat stopping Edward, Lewis, and Dick from reacting to seeing her there. 
"Lieutenant Stewart." He started looking at Olivia, "Welcome to Toccoa." 
"Thank you, sir.' She tore her eyes away from her brother and the other two. She saw the momentary fear, anger, and worry cross their faces just as quickly as it appeared. She had been surprised to see Edward, she knew that he had been sent back to Fort Dix and from there she wasn't sure.
  "We are going to separate you throughout different companies. You are going to be with Easy with Lieutenant Sobel."
 A small smirk appeared on Lewis' face and he winked at her,  that made her feel a little better, knowing that she was going to be with one of them. If it wasn't with her brother then she was okay with being with Lewis and she was sure that Edward would agree with her on that. 
Sink left them after informing them that all of them would be in two barracks and handing Olivia a piece of paper with the rest of the company appointments which she handed over to Lewis who had come to her side once Sink was out of sight. 
"Olivia.' Edward started joining the two and pulling her into a hug not caring about the other men and the nurses and how they stared. 
"That's her oldest brother," Evie informed with a roll of her eyes, she could already hear Amber muttering to start rumors to a couple of the other girls and she wasn't going to have it.
"Hey, big brother." She returned, the tears that had been at bay for so long rose again, "I am okay." 
"I know, but I think you should go back to Meade." 
"No. I want to stay, I worked too hard to get here just to get set back home because my brother is scared that I am going to get hurt. We already lost Nick and James, if I can do something to stop you from dying then damn it, I will do it." 
"Fine, you will have to explain that to Bobby and Bill then." 
"They are here too?!' She pulled away to look at him, not wanting to believe the hope that was rising up.
"Mhmm, they are in your company too." He answered, "Hey." He snapped his fingers in her face when he saw the sudden excitement and how she started looking for them. 
"Do not become a troublemaker just because you are back with Bobby and Bill.' 
"Pfft." She giggled, "I am always on my best behavior.' 
Dick's sudden cough covered up his laughter floated towards her causing her to smile. He had seen enough of her best behavior that night after he went out with them, to know that it was bull and they both knew it. But to Edward,  Nicholas, Lee, and James, Olivia was a saint and overlooked her troublesome behavior, unlike Daniel who constantly ratted her out every single time. 
Edward quirked an eyebrow at her in amusement. Around Bill and Bobby, there was no such thing as best behavior. 
"Come on Liv, we will introduce you to the boys first then take you to the barracks." Lewis commented, his heart lifting in his chest, the fear of Olivia being there momentarily gone.  
"Liv.' Lily started grabbing a hold of her hand to stop her from following Lewis and Dick. "Don't worry, Lil, you are with my big brother." She said, squeezing her hand back, "He will take good care of you.'
"That's right.' Edward added, "If you are good with my sister, that makes you as good as one to me." Lily looked between the two siblings and nodded her head in agreement. Olivia hadn't led her astray yet and she was sure that wouldn't. 
"I will see you in the barracks, promise." Olivia squeezed her hand again and waited for her to take a few deep breaths. "Good?" 
"Good." Giving her hand another squeeze, Olivia released her hand, "Go ahead."
 "I got her," Daisy muttered as she followed her and the rest of the nurses followed the other men away leaving her with Alice, Amber, Evie, and Adele.  
"Everything good between you two?" Lewis asked as he grasped her elbow and spun her around to go towards the barracks. "Define good?" 
"No fights?" Dick prodded gently, he had been curious about her well-being after they separated at the end of OCS. 
"No more physical fights with me breaking her nose. Verbal yes."
 "She used words I didn't think she knew." Adele teased. 
"Me either," Dick admitted, when she had broken Amber's nose, he had been surprised with her saying the f-word. 
Up to that point she had been so ladylike. 
Olivia shrugged her shoulders, her eyes darting around looking for her twin brother and Bill.  As much as she loved Lewis and Edward, nothing would compare to Bill and Bobby. 
Hearing Dixieland being whistled from down the pathway, Lewis stopped the others from walking and Amber scoffed at the sudden motion. "Just watch." Lewis grinned, his eyes on Olivia who paused all but bouncing with excitement and started adding her own singing. 
"OLIVIA! ' Bobby exclaimed as he broke away from his friends and went down the pathway to his twin and picked her up in a swinging hug causing her to shout with laughter. 
"I should be mad as hell that you are here." He said as he sat her down back on her feet and pulled away to look at her.
 "But I am not. " When he had first heard about the nurses coming to join them, he had been so worried about her being in harm's way but he realized that it was for the best, she would be with him, with Bill and their friends and she would be safe. It made him feel better knowing that she was going to be there. 7 months had been a long time for them to be separated.
"Edward is, he wanted to put me back on the bus. I worked too damn hard to get set back home. If  y'all are taking risks, then I should be able to too." She answered, hating that as much as her reunion with her twin was joyful, it pained her, she saw so much of James in him and she was sure that he thought the same thing about her and Nicholas, "Who are your friends?" 
Bobby looked back at his friends and smiled, he had already threatened Floyd Talbert and Joseph Liebgott to stay away from his sister. They had already had reputations of being womanizers and he wanted to save his sister from any more hurt. 
Of course, her eyes found Liebgott's dark ones and the man was smirking and his sister blushed and shifted closer to him. She had only reacted to one other man, and that was Lewis Nixon. 
Steeling himself, Bobby jerked his head in silent invitation. Mary Corleone, who had been hidden behind the men, stepped up to Bobby's side, her hand resting on his arm causing Olivia's eyebrow to raise in question and her eyes to harden like steel. 
As much as Bobby was protective of her, she was protective of him, she knew that he didn't easily jump into bed with other girls.
Especially after how things ended with Evie and Olivia wasn't going to take girls being around her brother lightly. Samantha and Michaela, Edward and Lee’s wives were the two that got an easy pass.  
The rest had it harder. 
"Easy there tiger." Liebgott teased seeing the hard look, "Nothing going on between them.'
 "And how in the world do you know that?" Olivia sassed, putting her hands on her hips, “I know my brother just doesn’t get with any girl.” 
 "Dick, you wanted to know why I fell in love with her?" Lewis commented lowly, "This is why." 
Dick gave a half smile and nodded his head, it wasn’t hard to see why Lewis fell in love with Olivia.  He had seen their interactions at Benning and even now, it almost made him a little jealous, but they almost made perfect sense. 
"Olivia, this is Joseph Liebgott." Bobby introduced, "Lieb, this is my twin, Olivia." There was a silent threat that hung in the air. Not to mess with her, especially with how quickly both Liebgott and Talbert got the nickname 
"It's nice to meet you, princess." He smirked, holding his hand out to her. 
 "You too. And don't call me that." She returned grasping his hand in hers, trying not to gasp when she felt a tingle go through her. A tingle that was different from the one that she felt from when she was Lewis. And looking at Joe, it looked like he had felt it too.
Quickly, she released his hand and took a step back towards Lewis whose hand stole to her hip and pulled her back to him.  Floyd Talbert and Chuck Grant exchanged a look, they had all been curious about Olivia, especially after hearing the story about how she broke Amber's nose but now they were more curious about her and her relationship with Lewis.  
“Livvy!” Bill’s strong voice rang from behind the group. 
Adele didn’t miss how Evie’s eyes lit up when the man came into view and went towards Olivia who was already laughing. “Bil! Don’t you dare!” She pointed her finger at him, “This isn’t the time or place for your shenanigans.” 
He paused for a second as if he was going to weigh his options, in an instant he had pulled her away from Lewis, dipped her down, brushed his lips against hers,  and let her up. “Go say hi to Evie.” She laughed once she was straightened. 
His eyebrows knitted together in confusion, he hadn’t spoken to Evie since he joined the Army. It wasn’t anything against her, he had already hurt Olivia repeatedly, and he couldn’t do that to Evie.  She tilted her head to where Evie was at. Bobby’s eyes followed the tilt and groaned. “Is that the girl?’ Mary asked lowly, Bobby had filled them in the night before about what led to him, Olivia, and their younger sister Marla going back to Charleston and why he and Bill fought.  They had almost come to blows when Bobby walked into the barracks and heard Bill talking about his sister and their sex life.  
Mary chewed on the inside of her bottom lip, she couldn’t understand how Bobby could be so chill about Bill breaking his sister’s heart and stealing his girlfriend but now seeing them, it started to make sense.  Shaking her head she went to turn to Liebgott to tell him they should go to roll call but he was engrossed in a flirty conversation with Olivia who was still standing too close to Lieutenant Nixon.  “Oh, Mary,” Nixon started, finally seeing her there, “Olivia and most of the nurses are going to be joining you in the barracks.”   She forced a smile on her face and nodded her head, “Great.” 
As much as she hated the fact that she had to share the near-empty space, maybe it was for the best, she could keep an eye on her and make sure she didn’t weasel her way into Liebgott’s arms. Not when Mary herself was holding his attention for the most part, she wasn’t going to let him go without a fight.

Currahee part   4
September 1942 
Edward wasn't surprised to see his younger brother waiting for him by the barracks, he had just come in from town from his weekend pass and seeing his wife and son. 
"Hey Bobby, how was your weekend?' He smirked, he couldn't help it, he enjoyed seeing his younger siblings squirm and stay on base. They didn't need to be in town raising hell and that's exactly what they and their friends within Easy Company would do. Raise hell, get into fights at bars, and get arrested and he knew that Olivia would be jumping in to stop her twin and Bill from getting arrested. She had done it once before. He personally wanted to see his sister stay as innocent as possible. The younger Stewart brother shook his head not wanting to talk about their long weekend marching and practice jumps, "Your sister." Edward groaned and dropped his chin to his chest, normally when conversations started with your sister, it never ended well. 
"What did she do?" 
"She is pissing off Sobel." 
"That's not hard." Ronald Speirs commented, he had followed Edward back into the barracks area and decided to listen in.  Even being in a different company than Sobel was, they had all heard about the chicken shit CO. And if he was being honest, he was interested in the Stewart twins. 
Edward and Lily both spoke very highly of them both. 
"If Winters and Nixon wouldn't have been right there Friday when Olivia stepped in and said she told Christenson to drink the water so he wouldn't get sick, he would have decked her. He was trying to tell Liv that she didn't have any say in the men's care."
"That's her job." Edward was furious, he wanted to have Olivia switch from Easy to Dog but from what he had seen and heard, she was finally finding her place and herself. Something that she desperately needed. "Like that, this is the whole reason why they are here. Other than to help the medics out." 
"I know, Eddie, I know, he is gunning hard for her. He tried to put her on duty with Cobb.'   The name sounded familiar but either Speirs or Edward could place. "Blond is angry a lot. Like how Daniel is angry. He wants in Olivia's pants badly."
 Bobby held his hands up seeing how angry the oldest brother was getting. "I put a stop to it." He tilted his head in the direction of 1st and 2nd platoons, the man in question was visible and the blond man was almost front and center, his eye blackened and his nose swollen. 
"Where is Olivia?" He asked not seeing his sister in the group. The other nurses were visible. "She is with Liebgott and Talbert in the hospital. I think they offered to help her with the paperwork." 
Speirs raised his eyebrow, there was no way that the men were just "helping" with her paperwork, a lot of the boys flirted and tried to get into girls' pants. And from what he had heard, Joe Liebgott and Talbert were the two biggest man whores in the company.
 "I am going to go check on her.' Edward muttered, clearly on the same wavelength as him, 'She doesn't need to be messing up her career for a romp.'  He walked off towards the hospital muttering angrily to himself. Bobby smirked, he knew that he couldn't stop Olivia from flirting with Joe and Talbert, she would never listen to him but Edward, she would. Something about him being the oldest brother carried more weight than her twin did.

Edward paused at the door of the hospital, his sister was sitting at the desk, her eyes were on the loose leaf papers, and as Bobby said, had two men sitting on either side of her. Talbert was telling her a story about how he, Liebgott, and Shifty Powers went on a run with Smokey Gordon so he didn't have to do it by himself, while the skinner man traced a pattern on her shoulder blade. 
"Hey, Bean." He greeted causing her to look up and smile brightly at him, "Hey, how was your pass? Did you see Sammy?"
"Yeah, her and the kid." He returned as she pushed herself away from the desk to come and hug him, 'Talbert, Liebgott."
Both men nodded in greeting. The displeasure in Liebgott's eye made him happy, he had seen bright and happy that his sister was being with Liebgott but she needed someone like Lewis who could take care of her and handle her out of her worst and he didn't think that Joe could handle Olivia.
At least not yet. 
"I heard that you are causing some trouble." He said as she returned to her desk back to the paperwork that she had to do. "Me?" She pointed the pencil back towards herself, 
"Cause trouble? Never." 
"You stopped Sobel from punishing Christenson?'
"Yes, I did, and I would do it again. And it stopped me from going on guard duty with Cobb. So it all worked out." "Just try and keep your nose clean sis, that's all I am asking." 
"I will try but I am not making any promises." He nodded his head and pulled out a bundle of letters from home for her. 
"Dick Best sent home James' letters and pictures. And Dad sent them with Sammy for you and Bobby." 
Seeing that Olivia couldn't reach out and take the letters from him, Liebgott took them from him, his dark eyes going to Olivia. 
"I can't read them not yet." She admitted softly. 
"You don't have to.' Joe muttered, pressing a kiss to the side of her head. An odd show of emotion, something that if it had been any other girl including Mary, he would have ignored it all. But Olivia was different, he wanted something more with her. The more time he had spent with her, the more that he wanted to be with her. He could start seeing her more and more as the girl that he settled down with. Not even his last girlfriend who he had been serious with made him think or feel like this.
"EJ insisted you had the drawing too," Edward commented, tamping down on his need to lash out at Liebgott and Talbert for being around his sister. 
There was a folded-up piece of white paper on top of the letters which Olivia picked up and unfolded. The little boy had drawn an airplane with people in uniform jumping out of it, one of the people had blonde braids much like what his aunt had at the moment. Her sister-in-law wrote on it Never Not Be Afraid. 
Even at 3 years old Edward Junior knew that his aunt was terrified of flying and that she was jumping out of planes like his daddy and godfather and thought the picture would help. She smiled softly and traced her fingers over the lettering, "I am sad that I missed seeing them."
 "Us too. He kept asking for you and for Bobby, he tried to climb on the bus to come back.” 
“Oh, Sobel and SInk would love that.” She returned with a sad laugh, “A 2-and-a-half year running amok and trying to jump off of the jump platform.” Edward was like Steven and Katie, whatever the older Stewart kids, especially the twins and Marla, wanted to do. The sad laugh turned into giggles and she covered her mouth. “What is so funny?” Her brother questioned pulling one of the chairs from the other desk to sit in front of it. “Just imagining Sobel, trying to chase after EJ. He has almost tripped half a dozen times going up Currahee.”
 Every time Sobel stumbled, they had all hoped he would drop and hurt himself so they would be free of him. But every time he straightened himself and finished the run. 
“Maybe, you will get lucky and he won’t pass his PT test in a couple of weeks.”  Edward mused, his eyes never leaving the trio, he was studying them to see how they acted together and if the two boys were going to change their ways. ‘Not gonna hold our breaths. He is like a roach that won’t die.” She paused and fell quiet seeing the awkward frame of Sobel coming into view. “What?” Edward questioned before following her gaze and laughed, “You know, I will see you later Liv. Fellas.” “Bye Eddie.” She giggled before dropping her head down into her folded arms. “Lieutenant Stewart. Is there something funny?” “No, not at all sir.”

Sobel had been looking for a reason to attack not Olivia but Dick Winters but he couldn't. Not even Amber who lived with Olivia was finding it hard to find anything to ding her with. That was until Colonel Sink pulled him into his office, prompting him to Captain and Winters to 1st Lieutenant. That was his ace in the hole, finally something was going right.
First it was Dick then Olivia. 
One step at a time.

There had been one rule since the nurses came to Toccoa and that was their barracks were off-limits. But now that he was technically the superior officer over Easy Company including the nurses, he could do whatever he wanted. Sobel followed closely by Evans, Nixon, Winters and several others went into the barracks. He wanted to have Olivia in there with them but the girls were in the hospital and Olivia had been pulled into a meeting with General Forbes and Captain Fitzgerald. 
"Sir, we aren't supposed to be in here," Winters said, finally speaking up, his heart was in his stomach, this wasn't right and they all knew that Sobel was taking it too far. 
The familiar smell of roses and lavender attacked their senses. It was a far sight better than smelling the cigarette smoke and stale BO that came with being in the men's barracks. It almost made Dick miss having Olivia in his barracks with him and Lewis. There was a sense of calm about her that he enjoyed, he didn't miss constantly walking in on them in compromising positions. The last weekend pass they had in OCS and seeing her on Lewis's lap lived rent-free in his head.  Lewis had already picked out Olivia's bed and saw the letters sitting on the end of her bunk. His dark eyebrows knitted together and he slid a couple of them into his pocket.  Dick raised an eyebrow in question causing him to mouth James causing him to nod his head.
From what he had seen Olivia was barely hanging on and if Sobel destroyed the last links she had to her second favorite brother, it would push her over the edge and Amber would be the next in line to be in charge of the nurses, and things could only get worse.  Once Sobel got his bearings around the barracks, he turned to where Lewis was standing by Olivia's bunk and proceeded to pull the lid up the footlocker and dump the contents of the tray onto the bed. 
His greasy hands paw at the loose pictures that hadn't been stuck in the journal that she carried in her medical bag with her everywhere.  After Katherine and Amber had gone through it Olivia started carrying with her everywhere. Lewis' almost wedding had been the only place she hadn't.
Sobel studied the picture, it was of Olivia, Robert, and an older boy who must have been the one to die in Midway, before he ripped down the middle and then putting the two halves together he ripped it again and then scattered the fourths on top of the letters and clothing he had pulled out of her footlocker.

"Liv, you don't want to go in there," Lewis commented, catching her around her waist and stopping her from going into the barracks. "Why not?" She returned, and all she wanted to do was gather her OD's and shower, she had been pulled to meet with General Forbes and her second in command Sarah Fitzgerald after the classroom instruction instead of going to rounds like the other girls. A major part of her was jealous but honestly part of her was thankful for that, she was exhausted, and sweaty, the last thing she wanted to do was deal with the men's crap and she really didn't feel like dealing with Lewis' shenanigans.
"Sobel went in there.' She went dead still in his arms and she craned her neck to look at him, "What? Why?”
There had been a long-standing rule that the men weren't allowed in women's barracks mostly out of respect for them. Cobb had gotten caught in there once and all hell broke loose.  
"Contraband." He freed his hand to pull the list of over 100 items out of his pocket to show her and the other nurses that were gathering, " Dick, Edward, and Speirs are in there right now with Horton and Strayer." 
"How bad is it?" Amber asked having finally joined them, her dark eyes glinting, she had known all about this, Sobel had told her all about it after he ranted about how he had to promote Winters and how the one idea he had come up with was trying to catch Olivia with contraband.
"Bad for them, good for you."
"How bad is it?" Olivia repeated Amber's question, her heart in her throat, Lewis sounded absolutely murderous and it scared her. She had only heard him talk like that twice before and it was directed towards Kathy and the other time was at her mother, Katherine. 
"Lew?"
"He found the picture that Dick Best sent from James' bunk."
The day before Olivia had gotten a letter from Dick Best, her brother James' wingman, he had included the pictures that James had up in his bunk to her. The pictures were of their family and of the two at her sweet 16 and right before he shipped out to sea after she returned back to Philly.
 Dick had said that he had wanted her to have him.
"He didn't, Lew, Tell me, he didn't." Quickly, Lewis looked down at the girl in his arms, the sound of hurt and desperation in her voice brought him back from the edge. The pictures and letters were all she had left from James and Sobel, possibly destroying them broke her heart.
"He got one picture that was taken of you, him, and Bobby and a letter." Edward's voice came from the door, "It wasn't the last one, that one was still sealed."
If Lewis hadn't been holding her up, she would have crumbled to the ground, the handle she had on her grief of James' and Nicholas'  deaths slipped. Edward stepped out of the barracks and pulled into his arms to hug her.  He hadn't handled his grief over losing their brothers well at all and he knew that Olivia hadn't mourned at all, she had just pitched herself into her training head first. Lewis and Dick had informed him of what happened when they found out about James and how she had broken Amber's nose. She had only cried for a few minutes and then was back to using the Scarlett O'Hara mask. 
"We will clean up," Betsy whispered, she wanted to offer up her comfort but she knew that Olivia didn't want to show emotion around anyone who wasn't Lewis or related to her and they understood it. She had been glad that Lewis and Dick had been with her when she got the telegram and been the ones to put her back together, she didn't know how they would be able to put her back together like that.  
Edward nodded his thanks over his sister's head before leading towards the small opening that had picnic tables at, he could feel her body trembling and he hated that he couldn't bring any peace to her. He could bring back their brothers and he couldn't heal the hurt from Katherine, "Why did he do this Eddie?" She  questioned, her voice muffled but the material of his uniform, "I never did anything to him."
"Except maybe show him up.' Bobby's voice came, he had stopped by to gather the nurses before going to the mess hall for dinner and were informed of what happened and how bad things were compared to their barracks. His twin pulled away from their oldest brother and wiped her cheeks off, 'You may not have meant to but you came in here like a wrecking ball more or less.' 
He pulled his pack of Lucky Strikes out and lit one for her not caring about Edward's scoff of displeasure. He hated that Olivia picked up the nasty habit of smoking and drinking. But it was a surefire to calm her down. "Thank you." She muttered softly, taking the smoke from him before sitting on top of the picnic table, her twin quickly joining her.

"Give them a minute fellas." Lewis started seeing the boys turning to go up to where Olivia and her brothers were, "It's best to let Bobby and Edward handle this. They usually are the only two that can get through to her and calm her down."
"What happened, sir?" Joe Liebgott questioned his dark eyes on Olivia, every ounce of him calling out for him to go to her side and comfort her. "Sobel went into their barracks and destroyed some of their belongings. He got a hold of one of the letters from James and a picture of them on their 16th birthday." 
Bill cursed wildly and went to push around Lewis but was stopped by Bull Randleman's heavy hand landing on his shoulder, "Listen to the Lieutenant, Bill." The smaller man glowered at them before muttering agreement, he knew it wasn't his place, not anymore to go to her aide. Instead, he turned on his heel and went to the nurse's barracks and to Evie who was trying to piece together the torn-up picture. She and Bill both knew James and knew how much he loved the twins and how much they loved him in return. Hoping he could help repair this.

Joe stepped into the showering area and frowned when he heard the sniffling coming from one of the closed shower stalls, he knew that Olivia had come in before going to dinner to shower and change. When she didn't reappear he got worried. "Princess? Are you okay?"  He questioned, his hand itching to reach out and pull open the curtain. 
"Joe?" The tears in her voice broke his heart, "What are you doing in here?" The water shut off and she appeared a second later wrapping one of the Army-issued towels around her. 
"What's wrong?" He returned, not wanting to ruin this womanizer image he had going, if she knew he was worried then it would get around to the other nurses then it would be ruined.
 "It's silly." She went to reach around him to grab the extra towel to dry her hair with. He moved quickly to stop her, his hand catching hers, their fingers falling between each other.
 Almost a perfect fit, her eyes went from his face towards the joined hands and back. "If it upset you, Liv, it's not silly." 
Her cheeks tinged pink, that was the first time he had ever called her anything other than Princess and it was surprising that he even knew her real name. She found that she preferred him calling her by the nicknames instead. 
“Sobel tore up a picture that was on my brother James’ bunk on the Enterprise.” His free hand stole to her waist pulling her into him, his fingers rubbing against the softness of the towel, wishing it was her skin. He didn’t want to scare her off just yet. 
“The one with you, Bobby, and James a couple of years ago?”
 She nodded her head as he brought their joined hands to rest on her lower back as well. 
“I am sorry baby.” There he went with the pet names again, it was odd hearing it from someone other than Bill who had called her everything but Princess. With Lewis, it was few and far between. 
“Evie and Bill got it back together right?” She nodded her head, “See why I am being silly?” 
“Nah, you have every reason to be upset. He broke the unspoken rule of not going into your barracks.” He returned his hand that wasn’t holding hers, reached up, and cupped her face, his thumb rubbing against her cheekbone. 
The blush returned and a smirk formed on the corners of his mouth, he knew this was his moment to say something or to do something. To prove that he wanted to do something more than just flirt. “Joe?” She prodded softly, green eyes studying him. Instead of answering her, he tipped his head and captured her mouth with his. 
Finally kissing her. 
It surprised her at first and then she melted into it, her hand fisting into the uniform blouse, and pressed herself against him. He smirked against her mouth and spun them around and hoisted her to sit on the rickety bathroom counter. It creaked dangerously and caused her to pull away from his mouth. 
“Careful, Joey. We don’t want to break anything.” A warmth spread through him when she called him, Joey. He nodded his head and fused their mouths back together before pulling her towards the end of the counter, his growing erection pressing against her damp center. 
It surprised her how quickly she had become desperate for a man’s touch. It had been weeks since she had been with Lewis and it was almost too long. It was even more surprising she wanted Joe Liebgott. He wasn’t the type girls like her were supposed to go with. She was supposed to be with someone like Lewis or even Dick or Floyd. Maybe that’s why she liked him so much. 
Her hands dragged down his neck and chest to his belt to start undoing it to help free him from his trousers before slipping her hand inside and gripping his cock in her hand.
 “Fuck, princess.” He hissed against her mouth, he was surprised that she was bold like this but then again, if the stories that they had heard about Nixon and Bill were true, they opened Olivia up to this kind of stuff. Whatever was true, he was okay with reaping the rewards. 
 She nipped at his bottom lip and ran her hand up and down his length. 
He pushed his trousers and skivvies down enough to free himself. Just as he was getting ready to push into Olivia, the door slammed open and Mary’s now familiar voice.
 “Fuck.” Olivia whined against his mouth, they had been so close, her whole being was crying out for his touch, for him to be inside of her.
 “Joe! Are you here?” He didn’t have any time to pull away from Olivia or to fix himself as the woman came around the corner and her dark eyes landed on the couple. Anger and hurt flooded her, she knew that Joe had wanted Olivia but she never thought that they would sneak around in the bathroom to be together. “What is going on?” Her voice raised as Joe tucked himself back into his pants and Olivia fixed her towel around her naked body. “Nothin’,” He returned not turning to face Mary, his eyes were on Olivia’s bright red face, he smoothed a hand down her cheek to try and calm her embarrassment down, his free hand going back 
underneath the towel to her hip. “Doesn’t look like nothing.” “It really is nothing,” Olivia said, her voice trembling from her embarrassment. 
“I wasn’t talking to you.”   “You are talking about me! So yeah you are talking to me.”  She was glad that Joe was still between her legs and his hands still on her hips, she would have flown off of the counter and been in Mary's face. She had enough on her plate with Amber and all of her duties that didn't need Mary acting like a fool because she and Joe were in an almost compromising position. Joe’s fingers started rubbing a smooth circle against her bare hip.  “Sweetheart, it's nothing,” Joe repeated, his own frustration clear in his voice. He had been so close to getting what he wanted, Olivia had been occupying his thoughts and fantasies since the moment that Bobby introduced them. Mary folded her arms under her chest and glared, unable to help herself. “Then why aren't you looking at me?” He squeezed Olivia’s hip in silent question in which she nodded her head and he pulled away from her and turned to face Mary. 
"Nothing is going on." He assured her as Olivia slipped off of the counter to go back into the stall to get dressed again, " I just came to check on her, Sobel destroyed the one picture of her and her brothers. That's it." "And you started having sex?" She prodded angry, she knew that she
 shouldn't be angry, that she and Joe weren't anything but she couldn't help it. She cared for him and wanted a relationship outside of this with him. But he didn't want the same thing she did, at least that's what he had told her but this was showing him differently. "Isn't Tab and Nixon enough?" She spat at the blonde who came out of the stall dressed in the OD's. "What are you talking about? I have known Lewis since I was 12, he is practically family." Olivia was thankful that no one knew about their fib about being married to save her and Marla from marrying Davis. All they knew was that Lewis's cousin Helen was married to the Stewart kids' uncle Michael, "And Talbert is just a friend, nothing less nothing more.' "Doesn't look like it. The way you carry on."
 "What's that supposed to mean?'
'Meaning that you are easy is all." Mary's mouth curved into a smirk, 'Everyone knows it. Amber has told us stories about OCS.' At first, she wondered if she went too far because Olivia didn't react but she started taking steps towards her. Joe caught her around the waist and pulled her back, "Calm down babe, it's not worth it. She didn't mean it." He turned to where his body was between the two girls. "I did mean it." "Mary, just go, we will talk later." Her mouth opened and shut quickly watching the two, "Her brother is looking for her.' 'We will be right there." He returned as Olivia pulled away from him and started braiding her hair back so she wasn't out of uniform. Shooting them another glare, she went out of the bathroom to where Bobby was with Talbert, "Liebgott and your sister will be right out.' 
Bobby raised his eyebrow in surprise, he knew that Joe liked his twin but he didn’t think he liked her like that. He took it upon himself to check on her and for once Bobby started thinking that Olivia would be good for his friends.  Before he could react the two came out and over to them and he enfolded her into his arms hugging her. “I am okay, Bobby, I am okay.” She assured him softly.  He squeezed her knowing that she wasn’t okay but for the men she had to take care of and for her fellow nurses. 
She needed to be strong and fearless, and showing these emotions wasn’t it. It was the exact opposite.
