After being shut out for two games straight, and Altuve getting trolled relentlessly about closing his jersey after walking off the Yankees in the 2019 ALCS (they suspected he was cheating by wearing a buzzer under his jersey), the Astros score 6 runs in the bottom of the ninth to rally back from a 7-2 deficit. They hit three doubles and cap it off with a THREE RUN WALKOFF HOME RUN FROM JOSE ALTUVE
And the icing on the cake is that his teammates rip off his jersey to prove to the Yankees that there ain’t no buzzer!! Altuve got the final laugh!
Free eye candy for all! What a way to cap off the first half of the season and head into the All Star Break!

Houston Astros-Minnesota Twins Series Preview
9.28.20-Zack Greinke RHP (3-3) 4.03 ERA Vs. Kenta Maeda RHP (6-1) 2.70 ERA
9.29.20-TBA Vs. Jose Berrios RHP (5-4) 4.00 ERA
9.30.20-TBA Vs. Michael Pineda RHP (2-0) 3.38 ERA
The Astros At A Glance- The Houston Astros got a ton of help when MLB announced that fans would not be in attendance for games this season. The whole Trash Can cheating scandal would have been interesting to watch throughout the year. Michael Brantley was the most consistent hitter on the team. He hit .300 with five homers and twenty-two RBI’s. George Springer smacked a team-high fourteen home runs. Kyle Tucker emerged on the scene and had a team-high 42 RBI’s. Jose Altuve hit just .219 on the season. Alex Bregman hit just six homers and twenty-two RBI’s. The Astros lost a ton of pitching from their World Series team in the form of Justin Verlander, Gerrit Cole. Even guys like Roberto Osuna and Chris Devinski only threw a handful of innings. Zack Greinke had a solid year and some youngsters came around like Framber Valdez, Lance McCullers, Cristian Javier, and Jose Urquidy. Former Twin Ryan Pressly became the closer when Roberto Osuna went down. He has locked down twelve saves with a 3.43 ERA. Lefty Blake Taylor and righty Enoli Paredes became good options out of the bullpen. The Astros picked up Brooks Raley, who’s been good from the left side. Who knows how all these young Astros arms will fare come playoff time?
The Twins At A Glance- The Minnesota Twins are 2020 American League Central Division Champs after the White Sox collapsed in the final week of the regular season. The Sox could have easily won the division, but are now the seventh seed in the postseason. Nelson Cruz was the MVP of the Twins in this shortened season. He hit .303 with sixteen homers and 33 RBI’s. The team hopes to get Byron Buxton back from concussion symptoms. It sounds like he was out shagging flyballs in the workout on Monday and felt a lot better. Josh Donaldson tested his calf by taking groundballs on the workout day. He also had some good rounds of batting practice. The Twins hit .242 as a team and smacked 91 home runs in 60 games. Kenta Maeda was the Twins best pitcher this year. He should get Cy Young votes and will get the nod in Game 1. I think a lot of his success is contributed to his release point. His fastball, slider, and splitter are all released at the same angle and it’s tough for hitters to pick up the ball. Jose Berrios struggled at times, but was still sharp. Michael Pineda looked good in just five starts. Rich Hill got better as the year went on. Taylor Rogers and Sergio Romo both finished the year with 4.05 ERA’s. Both guys were good with a few bad outings mixed in. Trevor May and Tyler Duffey still remain sixth and seventh inning options. Matt Wisler had a fantastic year with a 1.07 ERA in 25 1/3 innings. Caleb Thielbar gave the Twins a lefty option with a 2.25 ERA.
What To Watch For-  The Twins went (4-3) against the Astros in 2019. They won three out of four at Target Field and lost two out of three at Minute Maid Park. The Twins are (12-11) all-time against the Astros at Target Field. Zack Greinke is (5-9) with a 4.64 ERA in 24 career games against the Twins. He owns a 5.14 ERA in seven games at Target Field. Kenta Maeda went 5 1/3 innings and allowed five runs in his only regular season outing against the Astros. He pitched in four games of the 2017 World Series and threw 5 2/3 innings giving up one run on five hits. Jose Altuve hit a homer off him in Game 5. Kenta Maeda owns a 3.31 ERA in 32 2/3 postseason innings. Jose Berrios is (2-3) with a 6.43 ERA in five starts against the Astros. He has allowed six runs in seven playoff innings. Michael Pineda is (3-4) with a 5.03 ERA in nine starts against the Astros. He never pitched in the postseason despite spending four seasons with the Yankees. The Twins have lost sixteen consecutive playoff games. Their last postseason win was in Game 1 of the 2004 ALDS in the Bronx. The Twins had a lead in Game 2, but blew that and the streak started. The Astros have been to the playoffs in five of the last six years. They won the World Series in 2017, lost the ALCS in 2018, and lost in the World Series last year. This is an experienced bunch with a lot of young pitching after Zack Greinke. It should be a fun series at Target Field. I wish I could be there to experience postseason baseball again.

Nah, Yu deserves it. Yeli’s reaction was completely justified. Yu needs to keep his commentary to himself; nobody asked for his input.
Yu had an awful 2017 world series. my man had an era of over 21. in two games. thats mindblowing.
dodgers fans blamed Yu for losing the world series. they booed him religiously when the cubs went there after 2017.
imagine learning two years after that all of that was because a team (that racially attacked you during play after hitting a homerun) knew every pitch you were going to throw before you even threw it.
then imagine that offseason you are a free agent. everyone saw how awful you did in the ws just MONTHS before. obviously they’re going to sign you for less, because your value as an asset to a potential championship team is lower, since you basically blew the last ws you pitched in.
now, it’s two years later. you just had a pretty good year for a team that missed the playoffs, and it comes to light that the reason you have that 21.6 ws era is because of a locker room full of cheaters. they raised the banner and got their rings KNOWING what they did was illegal.
even after the world series ended in 2017 Yu watched tapes from game seven to see what he was doing. the astros apparently claimed that he was tipping his pitches (unintentionally). they lied to his face.
if there’s speculation that another team is stealing signs against you after all of this, you’re going to have something to say. the astros not only cost Yu Darvish a world series ring, but also money/years in a new contract, plus probably also a lot of confidence from many front offices in the league.
now, with all of this said, i am not saying yeli would ever cheat. i hope that isn’t the person he is (for the sake of this blog). but, what i am saying is that Yu is rightfully ticked. The impurities of the houston astros organization possibly changed his entire career.
but also i love christian yelich with everything i have and i get why he would be taken aback over all of the new brewers speculation. i think its crazy that people would think he would do that, but i also would’ve thought the same thing from jose altuve and george springer a week ago.

The New York Mess 🤦‍♀️
Tumblr media
ANON, I AM ASSUMlNG YOU MEAN THE METS AND IF YOU DID NOT I ONLY KIND OF CARE BECAUSE I AM ONLY EVER GOING TO CALL THE METS THE NEW YORK MESS FROM NOW ON. Because they are a mess. And this cheating scandal is a mess. And I am patently losing my shit over it. Let’s talk about it. Ready? This is going to get very long.
First of all and most importantly:
2017 AARON JUDGE DESERVED BETTER THAN THIS
I want that stated for the record in triplicate. Underlined. And if anyone tells me: “Oh, the Yankees have won so many World Series, they’re also evil, blah, blah, blahhhhhh” I will laugh in your face. That was the year. I cried at that Brett Gardner RBI. My six-foot-three husband got air jumping in quite literal joy at that Brett Gardner RBI. Don’t listen to CC talking about not winning, you’ll cry.
And then this year! Oh my Godddddd. Don’t ask me how much money we spent on ALCS tickets. I DON’T WANT TO THINK ABOUT IT.
For those not following along at home, the gist is that the Houston Astros, beginning in their 2017 season & World Series championship run, used a pretty elaborate sign-stealing system and also won the aforementioned World Series. Basically, MLB’s been investigating, found that it happened and it involved not just current Astros staff, but people who had moved on to other teams - including Carlos Beltran, who was a player at the time and this offseason was named the manager of the Mets. He is no longer the manager of the Mets.
Because of this scandal three MLB teams don’t have managers right now.
PITCHERS AND CATCHERS REPROT IN LESS THAN A MONTH.
I had to put a cut. This is so long.
Now, obviously, everyone’s got feelings about this. But when it comes to the Mets, mostly I can’t and absolutely can believe that it took them until yesterday to do something. It’s so Mets. Like. Almost too Mets.
It does, however, bring up something interesting. Because Beltran was a player at that point. He was the only player named in the MLB report which, one, is weird and two, IS WEIRD because the report says “a group of players, including Carlos Beltran, discussed that the team could improve on decoding opposing teams' signs...” Which leads us to the conspiracy theories and the internet sleuths.
LOOK AT JOSE ALTUVE AFTER HE HIT THE WALK-OFF HOMER OFF CHAPMAN TO SEND THE ASTROS TO THE WORLD SERIES THIS YEAR.
Now, MLB says they don’t have any evidence of under-the-jersey communications devices. And fine. But there’s also been reports that Altuve immediately went into the dugout to change into his championship shirt. Nah, nah, nah. If I ever see Jose Altuve I will one-hundred percent kick him in his smaller-than-average MLB player shins.
Anon, were you keeping up with the fake/maybe real Carlos Beltran niece Twitter account???? Gold mine. Look at these now deleted tweets from this now deleted account:
Tumblr media
Between this account and those rumors about a Daily News reporter making his own burner account to impersonate the Jets coach in order to up the hits on his own stories....WHAT IS HAPPENING IN NEW YORK????
Now, you may ask: Laura, why is this a problem? Doesn’t everyone steal signs? Yeah. They do. And if I’m a dude standing on second, picking up the catcher’s signals and telling the guys in the dugout - cool, good on me. That’s how the game works. BUT! A whole system of stealing signs, using analytics (which are already iffy with the old baseball men who are now positive the numbers are coming to ruin the game) and stepping into the batters box knowing what’s coming is cheating.
Straight up.
Tumblr media
And part two:
Tumblr media
So, what happens now? I’ve got no idea. The Astros got penalized, but, if we’re being honest, it didn’t really seem like a ton. And if I got a championship out of it, I’d be like...ok. I am still almost painfully here for even more conspiracy theories and Josh Reddick’s wife telling everyone to fuck off on Twitter because that really wasn’t a signaling device under his jersey, it was confetti.
Also, I can’t embed tweets in an ask, but if you’ve read all of this and still want more, you should watch the Mean Girls video Justin sent me. It’s fantastic.

Hey nice blog. I love your posts... I used to root for the Astros but hate them now. I feel stupid because I actually rooted for them & had a crush on Alex Bregman, Jose Altuve, Josh Reddick, Yuli Gurriel, Gerrit Cole, Dallas Kuechel, Michael Brantley, George Springers, Lance McCullers & most embarrassing I had a crush on their manager AJ Hinch. I’m sorry to bother you but I’m deeply hurt about this cheating shit.
First Thank you for the kind words anon no worries or judgement here you are attracted to who ever you like. I understand the anger and sadness I know several Astro’s fans that are embareassed and hurt. It is no bother at all come and talk to me any time.

I used to be a Astros fan & now I hate I ever rooted for them. I hate that I rooted for Cubs in 2016 then stopped rooting for them & started rooting for Astros in 2017. I’m so embarrassed that I actually had a crush on Alex Bregman, George Springer, Jake Marisnick, Dallas Kuechel, Brian McCann, Jose Altuve, Yuli Gurriel, Gerrit Cole & their manager (I’m embarrassed). I just want to forget I ever rooted for these people. I’m pissed b/c I’m forced to root for & love another team. I’m sorry 😭😭😭
hi anon! you don’t have to apologize or feel embarrassed! hopefully you saw this post. How were you supposed to know they created this elaborate system of cheating? do not feel embarrassed, they should be the ones feeling that. you have every right to feel pissed and betrayed by them. like i said in the post i linked above, maybe take this season off from them and follow another team for the time being.

Houston Astros Cheating Scandal
There is no place for cheating in the game of baseball. If the runner on second is stealing signs, good for him. There is nothing wrong with that; it is a part of the game but using a camera in centerfield to steal signs and hitting a garbage can or using buzzers to relay them to the batter is just wrong. I do not think the punishment the Houston Astros received for cheating was enough. Yes, they lost draft picks, and they were fined five million dollars, but five million dollars is nothing to a successful professional sports team. The Houston Astros are paying Jose Altuve 151 million dollars alone. The Astros also made about fifteen million dollars in the 2017 playoffs. That is not including the 2015, 2018, 2019, and 2020 playoffs, where they went to the World Series in 2019. In a Twitter post on January 13, 2021, Phil Hughes (PJHughes45), an MLB pitcher, wrote, “I’d like my career numbers against Altuve, Springer, and Correa erased from the record books. Seriously though, it’s bad. Can they do that?” I think the MLB should consider doing that. The hitters had an unfair advantage against him. Some say that every team cheats, and the Astros were the only ones that got caught. That may be true, but the Astros won a World Series from it, and they were one game away from winning two. Another argument is that knowing what pitch is coming will not help you hit it. I can see where they are coming from because these are professional pitchers, but in the 2017 World Series, Clayton Kershaw threw 51 sliders/curveballs, and all 51 of them were either fouled off or put in play. In the same series, Jose Altuve hit .472 at home with six homeruns and 12 RBIs. On the road he hit .143 with one homerun and two RBIs. Carlos Correa hit .371 at home and .211 on the road. Brian McCann hit .300 at home and .037 on the road.
