The Purim of the Philosophers by Jonathan Edelstein
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jonathan Edelstein has cropped-up in this blog for several times now, and not without good reason. I knew him from almost a decade ago on an internet forum and his stories - short and long-form - have captivated me by their depth and ingenuity.
So no surprise, I decided to bind yet another short fiction of his. After my first two binds of his work, I actually made a promise to myself to bind two more stories of Jonathan's before the year closes out.
One of them was Of Letters They Are Made, and the other is this: The Purim of the Philosophers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Set in an alternate France where the Albigensian Crusade went unfinished, the Languedoc is its own kingdom, and the political situation is still explosive, The Purim of the Philosophers tells of a Jewish official sent by the Languedoc king to the city of Marseilles to quell tensions between the Jewish communities, all while the French north is gearing up for another war with the south...
Now, while this all sounds fascinating, I doubt I will remember all the background context in 20 years' time. That was why I decided to write a preface to explain the bewildering history of the region, balancing out the need to explain history with the constraints of a small page.
To be honest, I think there is enough historic oddness about southern France to make an original compendium, but I digress.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As with previous binds, I have a love for filling in pages with images that capture the feel and mood of the story, and this bind is no exception.
Additionally, parts of the tale is told in the form of letter correspondence between the Jewish official and his son, which I formatted using the 1475 Humanistica Cursiva font. I love the old-timiness of the letters so much that I eventually used it for multiple other things in this book, including the chapter headers and title strip.
The main body text is Alegreya, with a large drop cap of Harrington colored red to give an impression of illuminated manuscripts.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And as always with me, I added-in a comments section to preserve what people thought and discussed of this story when it was first published on alternatehistory.com.
But after all of that, I still feel like giving the background stuff of this tale more justice. So with some consultation from the author, I put-in two more sections denoting the main characters of the story and their real-life counterparts, as well as minor Jewish, French, and Occitan terms that were sprinkled throughout the book.
I have to say, it was quite an experience Googling up which terms meant what to a faith that is not really known to the general public east of India. I think I learned more about Judaism in the last 3 weeks than I ever had in the last 5 years, or even 10!
All in all, this bind was one of the more easier ones to make. I would have made this quicker if not for stuff at work and home delaying progress for a bit. I so wish I could make more than 1-2 books a month, but better to have those 1-2 books than no books at all.

HSBC marks Black History Month with Tapestries of Diversity, created by Wunderman Thompson UK HSBC is marking Black History Month with a global creative campaign celebrating textile traditions from African and Caribbean cultures, created by Wunderman Thompson UK. Tapestries of Diversity takes six types of fabric as a starting point to amplify Black creativity, culture and heritage. Wunderman Thompson UK has written the story of each textile and selected a pattern which epitomises it to be used in a suite of assets, as well as creating a single design incorporating all six of the patterns. The purpose is to celebrate the identities, colours, rhythms and traditions of each fabric and at the heart of it, is telling the stories of Black people. The assets are being used across a variety of HSBC media, from Zoom backgrounds to email headers and banners. HSBC is also sharing the textiles and descriptions in social media posts. These six textiles featured are: ●      Kente, a Ghanaian textile originally inspired by a spider’s web, and made of handwoven cloth, strips of silk and cotton. ●      Shweshwe, the traditional fabric of southern African clothing. It was gifted to Lesotho’s King Moshoeshoe I in 1840 and originally dyed only in indigo. ●      Madras, a fabric which features in the national attire of Caribbean countries including Dominica, Jamaica and Saint Lucia. ●      Aso Oke, meaning ‘top cloth’ to denote its high quality, is designed and hand-woven by the Yoruba people of west Africa. ●      Bogolan, also known as mud cloth, is a sustainable handmade cotton fabric traditionally dyed with fermented mud, produced by the Bambara tribe of  Mali. ●      Ankara is commonly worn by people in Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya and Sudan. It is called ‘the communicating textile’ because of the various colours, patterns, writings and symbols which represent moods, feelings, cultures, and many traditions of the designers. Rianna Woods, Art Director at Wunderman Thompson UK, said:“The influence and beauty of these fabrics is undeniable but even more so is their history. While they’ve become commonplace in some cultures around the world, not everyone is aware of the stories behind them. Embedded with tales, secret messages and symbols, every pattern gives you an intimate insight into social, religious, historical and political contexts of its origins. Skills that are passed down from generations, traditions that still live on and garments worn so effortlessly is what makes these fabrics truly breath-taking. It’s so brilliant that HSBC is marking Black History Month with this campaign, amplifying the stories of the people who created them and the diverse cultures from which they emerged.” Jonathan Castleman, Group Head of Brand and Brand Partnerships at HSBC, said: “Each of these patterned textiles carry their own stories of expression, fashion, history and communication, so Wunderman Thompson’s inclusion of them in our Tapestries of Diversity has a real beauty to it. It’s a privilege to be able to feature them during Black History Month, and by doing so to help amplify awareness of the Black cultures behind them.”

Gibbs is the second defender to withdraw hurt from the squad after Frankie
Fernando Alonso already has one hand on the drivers championship, take the 13/8 on offer from Ladbrokes about a Spanish stroll through the streets of Monaco.
If the thought of betting on reality TV or street racing does not appeal, there’s still a couple of football matches to take an interest in. The penultimate game of the season will see Swansea battle Barnsley for a place in the Championship and the Swans receive a confident nod at 6/4 to win in 90 minutes. Lee Trundle has played a starring role in recent years, but if the Swansea management can find a reinforced bench, there’s every chance that the Scouse superstar will be named as a substitute. Leon Knight has been preferred to Trundle in recent weeks and has banged in five goals in three games, it’ll be a cracking Knight for us all if we get on Leon at 6/1 to bag the opener.
Grimsby face Cheltenham in Sunday’s league 2 finale as we wave a tearful goodbye to the domestic football season. Grimsby have been boosted by the news that top Satta King Chart goalscorer Gary Jones can play after a successful appeal against a red card, he’s worth a nibble at 6/4 to score at anytime. The Mariners have dominated the Robins in the regular season, winning both games convincingly without conceding. Grimsby are worth a bet at 10/11 to win promotion; unfortunately, you can’t back them to plaice. Apologies.
States Lose Key Defender for WC
Charlton Athletic's new American signing Cory Gibbs will miss the World Cup with a knee injury it was announced this evening. The US international defender played the full 90 of the States' 0-1 loss to Morocco in Nashville last night but sustained damage to his right knee that will keep him out of the finals.
Gibbs, 26, has 19 international caps and has played for St Pauli in Germany, Feyenoord and ADO Den Haag in Holland as well as Dallas Burn in MLS before joining Charlton last month. The Florida born defender was expected to line up at center back for America in the World Cup, or at left back, where he has also played.
He is replaced by 32 year old Gregg Berhalter, a veteran of the 2002 World Cup, where his goalbound header in the quarter final against Germany was notoriously handled on the line by Torsten Frings, but failed to impress Scottish referee Hugh Dallas, who waved play on.
Berhalter, who captains Energie Cottbus in Germany and had a spell with Crystal Palace, has 44 caps for the USA and was a surprise exclusion from Bruce Arena's initial 23 man squad.
Gibbs is the second defender to withdraw hurt from the squad after Frankie Hejduk and the third from the World Cup pool in recent weeks following Manchester United's Jonathan Spector dislocating his shoulder playing on loan for Charlton in the Premiership.
The States' opponents in the first round in Group E are Italy, Ghana and the Czech Republic. The starting eleven now looks likely to be as follows: Keller, Cherundolo, Onyewu, Bocanegra, Lewis, Mastroeni, Reyna, Dempsey, Beasley, Donovan, McBride.
Chivas USA's former Ajax ace John O'Brien impressed in his first comeback game for the States last night, while PSV's DaMarcus Beasley again disappointed, adding to calls that Reading's in-form Bobby Convey should replace him on the left side of midfield.

The bad news for Liverpool FC supporters is that the club are statistically less likely to win a major piece of silverware this season than actually get at least one trophy in the cabinet.
The centre back position has been particularly problematic considering that Joel Matip was already injury-prone as a back-up in this area. Indeed, elimination from a competition like the Champions League could see Liverpool go all out to challenge for the FA Cup.
Jurgen Klopp has certainly got the recent blueprint when it comes to both of these competitions, with his team landing the English Premier League title in a season after they produced the goods to land their sixth European Cup in when beating Tottenham Hotspur in the final after a remarkable comeback against Barcelona.

Madrid couldn't handle Manchester Chapmions press in the last 16 last season and Liverpool, domestically at least, recently snapped out leagus a pitiful slump. A draw looks likely. Pick: Real Madrid 1, Liverpool 1. Romano's take: Real Madrid's great experience could be the difference-maker on such an important night, but Liverpool will keep their chances open heading into the return leg.
The key man for this one will be Leaghe Benzema. Pick: Real Madrid 2, Liverpool 1. Echegaray's take: This is the type of fixture where I aim to nullify each other's strengths, cancel each other out and then see what's left. Liverpool's most forceful asset is their attacking trio which becomes a odds liverpool to win league and champions league when Diogo Jota comes in and the only way for Real Madrid to take care of them is to have a dominant back line and stout center-back pairing.
Problem is. So big in fact, it's the reason why I am going with Jurgen Klopp's Reds to win this first leg. Sergio Ramos is that important. Pick: Real Madrid 1, Liverpool 2. The current favourites are Manchester City, who have chqmpions ahead of Bayern Munich following a remarkable winning run that last over 20 games in all competitions. Die Roten have been dominant themselves domestically though, and are the odda champions of course. The running is then made up by Borussia Dortmund and finally the biggest outsiders, Porto.

B’BALL IS BACK: LeBron James’ Activism Isn’t Slowing Down + Jazz Baller Donovan Mitchell Wears Bulletproof Vest With Names Of Police Brutality Victims
The NBA is officially back and players are using their voices to bring awareness to issues that are important to them. LeBron James reminded us we can’t take our foot off the gas of the Black Lives Matter movement. Meanwhile, Jazz player Donovan Mitchell made a statement before his game. Everything inside…
  The NBA is officially back!
The NBA was hit hard by COVID-19 when it was confirmed several Utah Jazz players – Rudy Gobert & Donovan Mitchell – had contracted the virus. The league immediately shut down shop back in March and basketball was taken away in an instant.
After tons of discussions and meetings, the league decided it would come back at the end of July with tons of safety precautions to keep the players safe. That’s when the “Orlando Bubble” was introduced. Players were sent to Orlando to finish off the season in quarantine. Day-to-day, players are tested, reminded to keep their hands clean, and follow other safety rules due to the pandemic. Some players decided to opt out.
Yesterday, the first two NBA games to resume the 2019-2020 season kicked off 140 days after the last game played. The four teams – Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, Utah Jazz and New Orleans Pelicans – all took a knee (coaches included) during the National Anthem. They lined up on the side of the court in front of the Black Lives Matter logo to stand in solidarity in the protest against police brutality. They all wore “Black Lives Matter" t-shirts as well.

The NBA returned tonight with a major social justice impact. The single header night saw the Lakers and the Jazz both get W’s, and coaches, staff and players putting on a united front while kneeling during the National Anthem and rocking phrases on their jerseys and clothing that bring attention to elements of social justice reform.

After the Lakers (barely beat) beat the Clippers, LeBron James reminded everyone that this is bigger than basketball and that we can't allow the Black Lives Matter movement to slow down until there's change. Check it:

Jazz baller Donovan Mitchell - who was the 2nd player in the NBA to test positive for COVID-19 - has recovered and is ready to play. But, he also wants his voice heard. The NBA star made a strong statement when he pulled up for the relaunch of the season. He wore a bulletproof vest that displayed the names of several victims killed by police. He added the question, "Am I next?," to the vest.

“I have pretty much every possible name of everyone that’s died of police brutality and police violence," the 23-year-old told Taylor Rooks of Turner Sports. “There was a quote that said ‘am I next?’ on the back of somebody’s jersey. It doesn’t matter how much money you have or how famous you are, as an African-American male that’s who we are.”
He continued, “It doesn’t matter what your job is, what your name is. Being able to wear a bulletproof vest just shows we kind of have our hands up as well, just kinda like hands up, don’t shoot. We’re tired of seeing this. ... We’re sick and tired of being afraid.”

Seltzer: Counting down the top 10 Liga MX-MLS encounters in history
Dan Hamilton-USA TODAY Sports
September 18, 201811:54AM EDT
Before Toronto FC and Tigres UANL reunite to scrap over the inaugural Campeones Cup on Wednesday night (8:15 pm ET | ESPN2, Univision in US; TSN, TVAS in Canada), we felt like taking a stroll down memory lane to revisit the most thrilling episodes involving MLS and Liga MX adversaries.
Those two clubs met earlier in the year, and that duel made the list. In fact, both clubs make multiple appearances in our top diez.
No. 10: MLS All-Stars top Chivas (2003)
Naturally, preference on this list was given to matches carrying the weight of competitive meaning, but we had to include one exhibition highlight. It was 15 years ago that the first ever All-Star Game to pit the league against a foreign opponent took place at the brand-spanking-new StubHub Center (then known as the Home Depot Center), and it’s the only time to date that foe came from south of the border.
With esteemed guests Chivas de Guadalajara dominating the first half, LA Galaxy goalkeeper Kevin Hartman made some big saves to keep the game scoreless until Chicago Fire man Ante Razov could break the ice near the hour mark. The lead was short-lived due to Jair Garcia’s 66th-minute jailbreak strike, but Galaxy striker Carlos Ruiz bagged the winner two minutes later and DaMarcus Beasley added a late insurance tally.
No. 9: TFC tame Tigres (2018)
youtube
It didn’t play out that way in the end, but most observers considered this Concacaf Champions League elite eight matchup to be worthy of the final. The kings of MLS against their Liga MX counterparts, each entering the fray at the height of their reigns.
Major League Soccer’s treble winners took advantage of hosting the tie opener, overturning a second-half deficit to win thanks to Jonathan Osorio’s cheeky last-minute backheel winner.
In the away leg, the Reds traded second-half goals with Tigres before Sebastian Giovinco applied the dagger with 17 minutes to play. The Atomic Ant stuffed a pinpoint free kick into the top corner for what would prove to be the deciding away goal, rendering a late Andre-Pierre Gignac double as mere consolation.
No. 8: Galaxy drop SuperLiga final on PKs (2007)
After having to win a 6-5 road thriller against FC Dallas just to escape the group phase of the inaugural SuperLiga, the Galaxy eased through D.C. United to face Liga MX champs Pachuca in a title match at home. David Beckham led LA’s early charge in the final, but would depart with an injury late in the first half.
He was around just long enough to see a Peter Vagenas own goal put Pachuca in the lead. When all hope looked lost, Chris Klein bagged a stoppage-time bicycle kick to knot things up. The teams remained tied through extra time, taking the silver scrap to penalties.
youtube
Vagenas’ night got even rougher when his shootout-opening try was saved, but two Joe Cannon stops later and Landon Donovan stepped up intending to win it. His attempt was also smothered, and Los Tuzos celebrated victory when Abel Xavier missed the target in the next round.
No. 7: Seattle’s CCL quarterfinal rally (2013)
Through the first four iterations of the CCL era, no MLS team had been able to knock out a Liga MX competitor. That all changed in 2013, when the Seattle Sounders fought back from two goals down on aggregate to bounce mighty quarterfinal foes Tigres at CenturyLink Field.
An easy Elias Hernandez finish doubled the visitors’ first-leg advantage midway through the opening frame, but Sounders hopes of a rally were boosted when Manuel Viniegra drew his second yellow card in eight minutes just before the break.
youtube
DeAndre Yedlin sliced into the lead with a slightly-deflected 30-yard net-seeker in the 53rd minute, which was followed on the hour by a stunning Djimi Traore cracker from long range. That bomb put Seattle ahead on away goals before Eddie Johnson sealed the deal late.
No. 6: RSL’s home final heartbreaker
In the 2011 Champions League, Real Salt Lake cruised past Columbus and held off semifinal foes Saprissa to reach the championship round, where they faced a loaded Monterrey side. Thanks to some big Nick Rimando saves and Javier Morales’ 89th-minute equalizer, the MLS challengers rallied from behind twice for a hard-fought 2-2 share in Mexico.
youtube
In the deciding game at Rio Tinto Stadium, Fabian Espindola narrowly missed on a couple of chances to give RSL their first lead of the final. That wastefulness was punished when Humberto Suazo tucked one inside the post from close range on the edge of intermission.
youtube
The home side came close on several second-half occasions to leveling the aggregate with a potentially decisive away goal, but could not find a way past Rayados ‘keeper Jonathan Orozco.
No. 5: FC Dallas’ wild CCL semifinal (2017)
FC Dallas traveled south of the border for their Champions League semifinal decider away to local boy made good Omar Gonzalez and Pachuca, having rallied from an early deficit to take the first leg 2-1 on Kellyn Acosta’s free-kick gem.
youtube
As he had done in the opener, Franco Jara started the second leg scoring in the first half, putting Pachuca ahead on away goals in the process. It appeared to be all she wrote when Lozano rolled one in short side to pad the lead with 10 minutes left, but unlikely source Cristian Colman squared the tie with a terrific header in the waning moments of regulation.
youtube
It went for naught, however, as a chipped Chucky Lozano cross somehow found an untouched way into the net in stoppage time, sending Pachuca on to win the crown.
No. 4: Houston’s CCC classic at Pachuca (2007)
Before there was CCL heartbreak for MLS, the league’s entrants also experienced woes in its predecessor, Concacaf Champions Cup. The Houston Dynamo came in to this CCC semifinal capper at Estadio Hidalgo riding high after second-half goals from Brian Ching and Chris Wondolowski earned the defending MLS champs a 2-0 home leg win. However, the reigning Liga MX kings had the aggregate level within the first 15 minutes of the return.
youtube
Instead of folding out of shock, Houston gathered themselves to eventually reclaim the tie lead through a well-worked Brian Mullan counter strike early in the second half. Only five minutes later, though, a second spot kick from Christian Gimenez evened things for a second time.
Unbowed, Ching responded with a 79th-minute restart tally to give the visitors another aggregate edge. Four minutes from defeat, Gabriel Caballero nodded Pachuca level for the third time, setting the stage for Gimenez to win the tie in extra time with an audacious long-distance blast.
No. 3: TFC lose 2018 CCL final on PKs
Having disposed of Tigres and Club America, Toronto looked poised to make it an unprecedented quadruple heading into this year’s Champions League final. After artfully creating the lion’s share of the chances, the Reds were surprised to be down 2-1 after the BMO Field leg.
youtube
Their title outlook grew dimmer when Orbelin Pineda doubled Tigres’ aggregate lead 19 minutes into the decisive return, but the MLS champs weren’t done yet. Mere moments later, Jozy Altidore pulled the visitors back to within one from the doorstep to re-ignite the final. Just before the interval, Giovinco slotted one low to the short side from the left channel to even the tie.
youtube
Despite losing Altidore to an injury, TFC created the best regulation chance to win it all, only to have Marky Delgado fire high from 16 yards in added time. The title bout went to spot kicks, with Chivas converting all four of their tries. However, Osorio hit the bar in round two and Michael Bradley skied over the fourth kick to set off home-side celebrations.
No. 2: Porter’s last-gasp quarterfinal flipper (2015)
Oftentimes, the most memorable episodes in soccer come down to a game phase or a full sequence of events. And sometimes, those intense dramatics can be crystallized into a single moment. Such is the case with the strike from Montreal Impact substitute forward Cameron Porter that turned a CCL battle on its head.
There were plenty of exciting incidents during Montreal’s run to the final (which they’d lose due to a late home collapse against Club America), but most of them would have never happened if weren’t for a 21-year-old with nine minutes of first team experience when Pachuca arrived for the quarterfinal’s second leg.
youtube
The teams began that Montreal showdown with two goals apiece and the Impact up on what would prove to be killer away goals. The clubs traded chances until Laurent Ciman committed an 80th-minute area foul and German Cano bashed home the resulting penalty to give the Mexican giants their first lead of the tie.
Less than two months into his pro career, Porter entered with five minutes left to provide a moment Impact fans will never forget. Three minutes into stoppage time, the kid used the touch an of angel to chest a Calum Mallace long boot past his defender and poke home past the onrushing netminder. He snatched advancement from the jaws of defeat in a flash, sending Stade Saputo into hysterics.
No. 1: D.C. United make border-wars history (1998)
Thus far, only two Major League Soccer teams have managed to win Concacaf’s biggest club tournament, and only one of those bested a Liga MX side in the final to do it. In just the second year of MLS involvement, D.C. United took the Champions Cup home, shoving two Mexican clubs aside in the process.
youtube
After blanking Leon behind Roy Lassiter’s brace in the semis, the Black-and-Red hosted a one-off championship final against a Toluca outfit in the midst of arguably the best multi-season run in club history.
After John Harkes had rattled the bar, the opportunistic Eddie Pope scored the only goal of the final when Toluca goalkeeper Mario Albarran spilled a 41st-minute restart save. The D.C. defender was in the right place at the right time to clean up the mess, and they held on the rest of the way to become the first MLS club to claim a major international prize.

This Weekend in Esports: What to Watch from June 8-10
Welcome to This Weekend in Esports, a brief overview of what to watch in the world of competitive gaming for the coming weekend.
For this weekend, Rocket League crowns a world champion and Dragon Ball's best meet in the Beyond the Summit house.
Rocket League Season 5 World Championship
Game: Rocket League When: June 8-10 Where to watch: Twitch.tv/RocketLeague
While the United States is gearing up for E3, Rocket League is going overseas. Yes, it's time for Rocket League Worlds for Season 5, as the championship weekend goes across the pond to The Copper Box Arena in London.
The biggest match of the weekend will come early, as perpetual favorites NRG Esports faces off with Team Envy. NRG has often dominated in the regular season and this season is no different, as they finished an undefeated 7-0 campaign. But their regular season performance has often been followed by playoff disappointment. This will be the season they look to buck the trend, with Jayson "Fireburner" Nunez, Garrett "GarrettG" Gordon, and Justin "jstn" Morales looking to finish the job this time around. It won't be easy, though, as home field advantage will go to Team Envy. David "Deevo" Morrow and Jordan "Eyelgnite" Stellon both hail from the United Kingdom and will feed off the UK crowd, but they come in as the heavy underdog.
The casual crowd may look at the field and wonder what happened to defending champions Gale Force eSports? A lot has changed since that tournament and it's changed recently, as Team Dignitas picked up the former Gale Force eSports roster just two weeks ago. The newly-christened Dignitas is just as good as ever, having finished the regular season 7-1. There are few challengers on the horizon and it'll take something crazy to knock the kings off their throne.

Summit of Power
Game: Dragon Ball FighterZ When: June 8-10 Where to watch: Twitch.tv/BeyondTheSummit
You know a game has made it as an esport when there's a full weekend dedicated to it at the Beyond the Summit house. This weekend, the Summit house hosts the world's best Dragon Ball FighterZ players. As is the case with Summit tournaments, there are a handful of invited competitors and the remainder are voted in by the public. Here are the 16 players set to join the house this weekend:
GO1 (Goichi Kishida)
SonicFox (Dominique McLean)
Leffen (William Hjelte)
Kazunoko (Ryota Inoue)
NyChrisG (Christopher Gonzalez)
Reynald (Reynald Tacsuan)
Dogura (Ryo Nozaki)
HookGangGod (Eduardo Hook)
Fenritti
Nakkiel (Derek B.)
ApologyMan (Vineeth Meka)
dekillsage (Jon Coello)
Lord Knight (Steve Barthelemy)
Cloud805 (Jonathan Morales)
Yohosie (Dawn Hosie)
moke (Naoki Nakayama)
This is coming just weeks after arguably the biggest Dragon Ball FighterZ tournament to date, with SonicFox finally beating GO1 at Combo Breaker 2018. While the atmosphere will undoubtedly be more casual, just by the very nature of the Summit house, there will definitely be a lot of top-level play going down. And it's expected that Goichi and SonicFox will clash again.

ELEAGUE Street Fighter V Invitational - Group B
Game: Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition When: June 8 Where to watch: Twitch.tv/ELEAGUETV
The first week of the ELEAGUE Street Fighter V Invitational was a wild affair. As expected, Hajime "Tokido" Taniguchi made short work of his competition and advanced to the next round. But it's the second name that raised some eyebrows, as Ryo "Dogura" Nozaki (Yes, the same Dogura that's currently at the DBFZ Summit of Power) rose above the rest of Group A to move on, as well. Dogura racked up wins over Jonathan "JB" Bautista, Oliver "Luffy" Hay, and (most impressively) defending Capcom Cup champion Saul Leonardo "MenaRD" Mena Segundo.
So what does Group B look like? Group B is led by last year's Capcom Pro Tour darling Victor "Punk" Woodley, who's fallen on some tough times this season. Punk currently sits in a three-way tie for 34th place on the Capcom Pro Tour standings, so he may not be the favorite this weekend. There are several names that can potentially rise from this group, including Yusuke Momochi, Arman "Phenom" Hanjani, and ELEAGUE: The Challenger's Jesse "Commander Jesse" Espinoza.
Arguably, the biggest favorite to advance this weekend is Keita "Fuudo" Ai. Despite a disappointing 17th place finish at Combo Breaker, Fuudo has been on a hot streak and has been doing serious work as the world's best R. Mika player. Fuudo is playing at a truly high level at this point in the year and if he goes on a run, watch out.
Unrelated note: He's also a pretty good cosplayer.

Bạn nghĩ là bạn thiết kế puzzle giỏi? (Pt. 1)
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
What?
Tumblr media
