Dark Knights of Steel: Ash and Blood | Bruce Wayne/Batman x OC!Magician [Part 1/6]

Synopsis: I’ll be starting an Elseworld series for Bruce and Vivian, and the pilot to this Elseworld series will be the Dark Knights of Steel, where DC reimagined its heroes in a Game of Thrones-like world, where they are kings, queens, and knights. In this story, right after the events of Dark Knights of Steel Volumes 1 and 2, where they took down the Green Lantern Joker, and the White Martians, their battle to bring peace to the continent is far from gone. An enemy of their making is rising from the darkness in which it thrives and plans to take over Gotham.

Brother, 

I have seen many thing in my travels, one of which are the damages that my fear has brought to the people of this kingdom. Our people.

I must set this right, so I may not be able to return as I promise this fortnight.

Kal-El sighed as he read the letter brought to him by the jester, Harley Quinn. He had hoped it was from Bruce telling him that he was on his way back from his travels and be with the family for the Summer Solstice where they can celebrate it as they always do as brothers. Escape the castle and their guards and join the festivities amongst their people. But it seems his brother won't be back for the solstice at all. 

“Kal, is that from Bruce?” Lara-El, his mother and the Queen of the Kingdom, entered his chambers with his younger sister, Zala, filled with hope to hear the news about his half-brother's return. 

Kal only smiled sadly at his mother and handed her the letter for her to read herself. As he expected, Lara's smile fell at the short message.

“Bruce acts as if he does not have the same power as us,” Zala sighed. “Can't he just fly back here quickly to celebrate the Solstice then go back to his travels after?”

Kal chuckled. “Bruce likes to travel like the others, and you know how stubborn he is. Once he's set his mind onto something he'll see it through. Right now, that is his mission – and before you even think, sister, you know that he does not like when we intervene with his missions.”

“If only Alfred were still here,” Zala said. “He can convince Bruce to come back… this will be the first time we won't be able to celebrate the Solstice with him.”

The memory of the fallen loyal knight, and the man who have been more of a father to Bruce than Jor-El, brought sadness to them. After the knight's death, they built him a statue amongst the pillars in the palace, one that Bruce would visit often before he set off with his journey to travel like a man and learn more about their kingdom.

“I know,” Lara handed the letter back to Kal and went to the empty seat and started to write a letter back to him. 

“Mother, he won't change his mind.”

“I know, but we should at least try to change his mind. Why don't you bring this to him?”

“The best we can do is have one of the Robins deliver the letter,” said Kal.

“But it will take too long!”

“The Solstice won't be until another fortnight, we wish to have him back before then so he can be part of the preparations. Let us see, he might surprise us with his presence before the Solstice,” said Kal. “Write the letter and I shall give it to Richard so the Robins can deliver it to him.”

Finished with their letters, the Els handed it to Dick, one of Bruce's Robins, and had him bring it to the Bat-Prince, and, hopefully, bring him home as well.

In the dark night, a lone rider is seen on the path out of the Kingdom of El and turned to the first path in the Fork, to the direction of the West Lands were, where the Kingdom of El holds its reach still, and where Prince Bruce was last heard of to be. But if the lone rider had taken the third path in the Fork, he would have reached the mountains where below, a city by the eastern sea stood, one that has been long been forgotten by the Els. 

The city was once part of the old Kingdom of the Waynes, when Martha and Thomas Wayne were still alive, but after their deaths and during the Els’ campaign against magic, this city called Gotham became the refuge of magic and later ruins.

From a busling city filled with life, and rich with gold for its ports, Gotham turned to nothing but ash and stone, and what thrives here are those who blend in the darkness. 

They say, those who stay in the darkness become too familiar to it and no longer thrive for the light. Gotham has descended into the darkness for far too long that it dwells at the lines of the living and the dead. 

Walking through the palace halls, a hooded figure kept their footsteps quiet as they could. Normally it would have been easy to do so, but he knew that what dwells in Gotham was now beyond human. They can see, hear, and feel anything that can make the slightest sound there is. So, he moved strategically, following the movements of the wind brushing with the leaves and grass, the fluttering of crow wings. And only the crows and bats. But if it were an owl, he would stop and hide, hoping these nocturnal creatures have not found him. 

He was able to pass the vast throne room that once held five seats that represents the Five Great Houses of Gotham that overlooks the city. Each seat has the sigil of the houses: a falcon for House Falcone, a beast for House Arkham, a hook for House Kane, a mask for House Elliot, an owl for House Vreeland, and a phoenix for House Pryor. All seats have been destroyed, the gold that was used for its foundation stolen by the knights who raided the palace and melted for their kingdom's use, the precious stones taken for their wives, and the banners of each Great House burned from the walls. To humiliate Gotham even more, the knights who came desecrated the seats as well by killing the head of each House on each seat, then pissing on their graves before destroying the marks on each seat. 

That throne room was no longer used in this palace, by the insistence of its new caretakers, it was a reminder for them of what happened that night called, The Purging, because they attacked Gotham for seven nights without rest. 

After the Tomb, the hooded figure must count the pillars until he comes to the ninth one where, behind the ruined statue of a Phoenix were stairs that leads to the Southern Tower. His destination. Up and up, the hooded figure climbed as quietly as he could while picking up the pace. 

He must hurry before they finish their ritual. 

He must get to her before they come for her.

He has already put himself and his family in danger for this, so he must succeed in getting to the one of the last living noble of the Great Houses of Gotham that has not been corrupted by the Owls. 

Reaching the end of the stairs, the hooded figure slipped through the door that was a painting at the other side, and there he saw the empty room but for the lavish bed that was a gift by her betrothed, and the noble that slept soundly there. 

Creeping to the sleeping figure, the hooded figure gently shook the noble awake.

“It's too early,” she whined.

“My Lady, this is not your lady-in-waiting,” said the figure.

The sound of the man's voice shot the noble awake, her eyes glowed gold and a knife was pressed on the hooded figure's throat. 

“My Lady,” the man pulled down his hood.

Her eyes fluttered, finally clear from its blurry state, and she recognized the man before her. His red hair and mustache with streaks of white, his rough and slightly wrinkled face that showed age and his time as a knight who has seen many battles, and the scar that came from his temple and down his cheek.

“General Gordon,” said the noble in realization.

“My Lady Vivian, my apologies for intruding to your quarters unannounced, but you must understand that I mean no harm nor disrespect, my lady. I came here to warn you,” he maneuvered around her room, shoving what she would need for her journey in a satchel, then some clothes which he procured from a local seamstress for her to wear. “Your betrothed, Lex Luthor, and Lord Elliot and the Talon are coming to a conclusion with their work and they will come here for you to finish it. You must make haste, my lady, change and meet me behind the portrait of the goddess Mother, I shall wait for you there.”

As soon as Gordon had left with the satchel, Vivian Pryor, Lady and the last member of the noble House Pryor, hurriedly changed out of her nightgown and to the clothes that Gordon have dumped on the bed. These were riding clothes and not fashioned for women to wear. The shirt and trousers were too big for her, so she resorted to wearing the corset and belt to keep everything from falling. But the boots, she had to use her own if she wanted to keep them on. Before she went to the painting, Vivian grabbed the gold signet ring from her box, a reminder of her mother and father, then went to the painting. 

Just as they closed the painting, the door of her room burst open and they heard her betrothed's voice.

“Vivian, my love!” Lex's voice echoed. “We have good news!”

Vivian held her breath as she and Gordon held still in their place, unable to move if they wish to not be seen. 

“Vivian? Vivian?” Lex’s steps became heavy and fast as he looked around.

CRASH!

She flinched at the sound of the man breaking her things, her bed, the couch, the mirror, and everything his hand could touch, believing that in doing so he would find her.

“GUARDS! GUARDS! SOMEONE HAS TAKEN THE LADY PRYOR!” Lex's voice became distant as he ran out of the room, but as he did, the castle awoke with the army's horns blasting and the torches lighting. A hunt is being called to.

“We must go now,” Gordon placed the cloak around Vivian and pulled it over her head, in hopes of hiding her red hair. They ran down the steps, no longer caring if it would be heard by the others in those walls. When they exited the painting in the ninth pillar, Gordon pulled Vivian to another set of stairs –

“HALT!” A knight blocked their path. “Gordon, you traitor--”

Before the knight could finish, his voice disappeared and he was choking, then the knight was thrown against the wall, knocked out. Startled with what had happened, Gordon turned to Vivian whose eyes glowed gold and her hands covered with the flaming essence of magic. He has seen magic at work before, but it has been years since he has seen it up close. It would always leave a certain scent that distinguishes each magic user from another. For  Vivian, she smells of smoke and cinnamon.

He made a note to remember that.

“Go!” Vivian ushered him down the stairs.

Right, they must escape. 

Racing down the stairs, Gordon pulled out his sword to prepare him for anything that comes. He should be the one protecting Lady Pryor, not the other way around. They passed many guards on their way, and each one he did not hesitate to slice his sword down at them to keep their silence. He would apologize later for showing the Lady such a horrific sight but Lady Pryor had seen death up close and was almost taken by it during the Purging. If it was not for the Owls, she would have been burned at the stake then. 

Arriving at the stables, Gordon, was met by one of his own, Knight Bullock, who had their horses prepared. Quick to his feet, Gordon sheathed his sword and carried the Lady to mount her horse, startling her, and handed her the satchel. He too got on his horse and the three of them rode out of the stables. Knights tried to stop them but Bullock had his crossbow and took out each one that blocked their path. When a wall of them appeared, Vivian cast her magic before Gordon can tell her not to.

She blasted the knights away and kept the gates from closing down on them until their horses have passed. 

“My Lady, you mustn't use your magic – ack!” Gordon winced in pain as an arrow pierced through his armor.

“General Gordon!” Vivian gasped. Turning to the walls of the castle, she saw the archer dressed from head to toe aiming at them. Before she could use her magic, Gordon held down her hand and lets Bullock shoot the archer down, but the archer was fast and shot another one, this time it hit Vivian's shoulder.

“My Lady!” Gordon held the reins of her horse. “Bullock, take them down!” 

“I know, I know!” Bullock shot another arrow, this time, it hit the archer but the archer did not go down, neither did it flinch. It just stood there as if nothing had happened. “What the…”

“My Lady, please, hold on. Do not use your magic, they will use the scent of your magic to track us,” said Gordon.

Vivian nodded and broke the long and protruding arrow on her shoulder, leaving a part of it for her to easily pull it out once they were in safer grounds. Riding out of the city was tasking with the ruins that blocked paths and made winding roads and broken bridges, but they made it through, but the city was just the beginning. There were two ways to leave and enter Gotham, first was by ship. Gotham was known for its trade with many kingdoms, it once brought riches to the Kingdom of Wayne when Martha and Thomas were Queen and King, and when Gotham was standing. It would have been easier to leave Gotham by that but there were no sailor who would risk the job in doing so. Many feared the Owls too much.

The other way, which was where Gordon had taken them, was through the forest. The once friendly forest turned feral. Magic has imbued in its roots and kept anyone from entering nor leaving. It was believed that the Owls did this to the forest to protect them from the Els and from those leaving the city and spread word about what the Owls were up to. 

Lex Luthor took a ship to enter Gotham when he came with a proposal to help the Owls to remove the Els from power in exchange, he wanted Vivian Pryor, the last living, female, noble of the Great Houses of Gotham.

“They’re catching up, General!” Bullock saw the animalistic movements of the shadow that ran through the trees.

“We keep going!” Gordon told him.

Bullock turned to his General and then to the noble Lady, and gave his salute, a fist to his heart. “Swear that you will see this through, my Lady.”

“Bullock!” Vivian tried to stop him, but Bullock already maneuvered his horse to face the enemy. “Bullock, no!”

“My Lady, don’t!” Gordon kept her reins facing the direction of the path. “Don’t let Bullock’s sacrifice be in vain.”

“No!” Vivian whispered, turning back, she saw Bullock taking out his sword and preparing for the undead to come. Gordon told her to look away from it, to keep looking at the road ahead, and Vivian did, but she won’t. She watched as the talon of that creature came down at Bullock just as the knight stabbed the sword through him and used the torch to burn it.

Looking ahead of the path, Vivian held the reins of her horse and had it galloping faster and faster. She won’t let this sacrifice go to waste. Before, this movement was nothing but ideals but now blood has been shed. There was no turning back now.

Prince Bruce Wayne, the bastard son of Jor-El, son of Martha and Thomas Wayne, the Batman or, as others call him, the Bat-King, had a mission to learn more about the kingdom his parents and his surrogate parents oversaw, but also, after seeing the state of things for the past fifteen years of his life, he must bring order and peace through it all. Stop the persecution of the magic users and instill the new decree to give all magic users back their lands and property. It was tasking work, he knew that, but it was one he must do as his penance for him and for the Els. 

But that does not mean he cannot rest and indulge in some vices. He was a man of honor, but there are times when a man succumbs to his needs and honor is tossed aside. Then again, Bruce holds his honor closer than anyone, so as he got out of the bed and into the arms of the woman he spent the night with, he felt shame.

He was a knight!

The heir to a kingdom!

Yet here he was, tainting his honor with such things.

The woman in the bed smirked as she watched him walk around the room to wash himself with the basin of water. Her eyes fixed on his bare bottom. 

“Was it satisfactory, my Prince?” She asked.

“Never speak of this to anyone,” Bruce said and placed the coins on the table. 

“I am not a whore.”

“For your trouble… and for your family.”

Bruce started picking up his clothes, putting them on, and then his armor. He does not deserve this armor. Not after tonight. 

The woman got up from the bed, putting on her dress, and took the coins from the table. But before she left, she went to the Prince and wrapped her arms around him. “Stay longer?” She whispered to him, her green eyes fixed on the reflection he had on the mirror. 

“I can’t… I can’t do this again,” Bruce shrugged her off and put on his armor.

The woman shrugged and left the room, her green eyes flashing for a moment as she watched him get dressed.

Leaving the establishment, Bruce paid the innkeeper for the room and for the food he procured for himself and his horse. Outside, he saw the pyre and the gallows that were being demolished under his orders and the new decree of the palace to stop all persecution of magic users. It took a while to establish it, many went against it, still believing that magic was evil, but he told them the truth about it, showed them his “magic” and explained that horrendous acts were because of fear. 

Now, he fixed everything, all that was left was for the Queen’s forces to come to this town and implement these changes. 

“Bruce!” A rider approached him.

“Dick!” Bruce greeted the young rider. “Is the army with you?”

“No, but the Queen has received your letter about the request, she shall consult the General about it and see how much we can spare to help with the works to help the ruling House of this town. I came here to deliver this.”

The smile on the Robin gave Bruce an indication it was something that would irk him. Taking the letter, Bruce broke the Seal of the House of El and read its contents. Three letters from Queen Lara, the Princess Zala, and Prince Kal-El, all of which begged him to reconsider returning home for the Solstice.

The sight of Bruce sighing had Dick laugh and say, “They do make good claims.”

“But it is impractical. The Solstice is three weeks away, they are asking me to return now. I can still do more before the Solstice.”

“The preparations.”

“Matters that the Prince can do.”

“The Crown Prince.”

“Kal-El is the Crown Prince.”

Until his return. Maybe that was why he refused to return as well. He does not wish to be king, not yet… he wasn’t sure he even wants to be one at all. To return means he shall face the reality of the Crown, and the scrutiny of the subjects for putting a bastard on the throne. 

“Write to them,” Dick said. “Tell them that…”

“That?”

“You’re coming home for the Solstice. Not now, but you will be there.”

Bruce hummed in slight annoyance. “We shall see. Thank you for bringing this to me, Dick. Here,” he tossed a coin in Robin’s way. “Get yourself a drink.”

“How about a bed?”

Reaching into his pocket, Bruce gave him a small pouch of coins. “For the bed and food, by tomorrow you ride back to the kingdom.”

Dick laughed. “Thank you, Bat-Prince. And you, where will you be?”

“I plan to leave but… with the Queen’s forces still in talks, I think it would be best to stay here and keep watch and ensure the efforts do not reverse.”

Dick agrees. “Shall I inform the Lord of the House to expect you?”

“House Crowne’s residence is far from here. Best to stay at an inn instead. I shall send word to Lord Crowne about the change of plans.”

“I shall find us two rooms then.”

“One is enough, one with two beds.”

“Two rooms, my Prince!” Dick snickered as he entered the inn.

Bruce hummed in annoyance but couldn’t do anything about it. Sighing, he took his horse and went on his patrol around the town.

“We must continue our journey, my Lady,” Gordon said as he fixed their saddles.

From the creek, Vivian gathered the herbs and ingredients she needed to make a salve for her and Gordon’s injuries to keep their wounds from getting inflamed. Placed in her satchel, she approached Gordon and helped him with his armour, lifting the heavy thing and then tying it in place. 

“Where will we go from here, General?” Vivian asked. “The Queen Circe’s island is far west. She has opened her kingdom for magic users who seek refuge from the Els’ persecution.”

“Yes, but Queen Circe will ask for a price… Themiskyra is our best option for to keep you safe from the Owls and the Els’ soldiers.”

“But Themiskyra has alianced itself with the Kingdom of El and the Kingdom of Storms,” she reminded him.

“That they have… but Queen Diana will listen to our story first and call for the alliance to see to this movement, and keep you under their protection. You will be safe in Themiskyra.”

“What about you?”

“We shall see,” he offered his hands so she could mount her horse, but Vivian got on the animal without his help. “Your grandmother’s House.”

“What about House Royce?” Unintentionally, she held the signet ring that held the symbol of House Royce. It was the symbol of a rose. 

“They Kingdom in the west, they  have ships there that can take us to Themiskyra.”

Vivian frowned. “You forget, General… House Royce is no more, they were dragged out of our castle and killed during The Purging.”

The memories of that night in Gotham flashed before her eyes. The way she, her siblings, and mother were tied and lined before the pyre. Their shoulders branded with a hot, steel rod, her father –Lord Adam Pryor –hanged before the pyre where her mother and her siblings were burned. 

“I know, but they can help us. We have connections in those ports,” when he saw the shocked look on the woman’s face, he added, “We have thought this through, my Lady. That is why we must succeed… before they wake them all.”

The Queen’s men were arriving by the afternoon. It took them five days but they were arriving, but when the letter came the army was already on their way and Bruce spoke with House Crowne about it too. As they waited for the Queen’s soldiers to arrive, Bruce and Dick made their rounds in the town, ensuring all magic users were treated kindly.

“Batman!” A group of children ran towards him and Dick. “The King’s Army are here! They have arrived.”

Dick grinned. “About time, don’t you think?” 

Batman nodded in agreement and had their horses in the direction to where the children were running too.

“Will you now head home and celebrate the Solstice with your family?” Dick called out.

“Let’s settle the army here first, then we talk about the Solstice–”

“LET GO OF HER!” 

“NO! LET GO!”

“WITCH, WE GOT A WITCH HERE!” A band of men came through the forest and to the town, bringing with them two horses that were armed with saddles that they cannot afford yet mounted by them,  then dragging with them were a man in armor and a woman with red hair. “WE GOT A WITCH HERE!” they declared. 

“THAT’S A LIE!” The woman exclaimed.

The scum gripped the woman by her hair and threw her to the ground, then with his knife, he tore her shirt and pulled down the sleeve to show to everyone the mark. A brand of the three-faced moon burnt on her shoulder. The brand of the witch. Bruce has seen that brand in his travels, it was the acts that former General Amanda Waller used to distinguish the magic folk from the others and then sentence them to a brutal death. Something that Bruce nor the Els ever sanctioned. That was the act of a rogue.

Another failure he must repent for.

“My Price,” Dick began.

“I’ll take him. Can you take the others?”

“You don’t even have to ask,” Dick jumped on his horse, balancing on his two feet as it galloped at the scums, and jumped, attacking the two riders with his punches and kicks, and freeing the tied knight. “This is yours, good Sir!” he tossed the sheathed sword at the freed knight.

Bruce dismounted his horse and stood before the man holding the barely clothed woman, his sword pointed at him. “Unhand her.”

“Bat-Prince!” The scum laughed. “I bring you a witch! My offering to you!”

“A new decree has been placed and made known, the persecution of magic users will cease. Now, let her go.” His eyes glowed red. “Or I’ll have your hand.”

The man smirked.  “I guess I’ll just take my business elsewhere. I heard that over the mountains they pay more for her kind.”

Over the mountains? Bruce thought.

Distracted, the woman took the chance and elbowed the man in the gut, his hold on her faltered but he recovered immediately and moved his hold from her to the bandaged arm and pressed on her shoulder. She cried out in pain and tried to get away from him as his thumb went into her injury.

“Yer a feisty one, aren’t ye — AAAHHH!” 

A sword came between him and the woman, and his hand fell from his arm and to the ground. Swift on his feet, the Batman severed the man’s hand. Free from him, the woman ran to safety at the side of her knight.

“Prince Wayne!” The soldiers of the town came, all in shock when they saw the bleeding man with a decapitated hand.  

“Take them to the dungeons, they have harassed innocent travelers and, from the looks of it, he lifted the man’s face with the tip of his sword to get a clearer view of the tattoo on his face. It was the mark of a slaver. “He and his men are selling to slave traders too.”

“At once, my Prince,” the leader of the soldiers said.

“Make sure to have him see a Healer,” Bruce pointed at the bleeding man.

“Of course.”

With the men being taken away, Bruce approached the knight and the woman. He watched as the knight removed his cape to cover the woman and promised her that they would find new clothes too. Bruce inspected the plate on the knight’s breast. It bears the three mountains with a lone star at the top of the tallest of them all. He tried to remember what that sigil stands for from his years under the guidance of his tutor. 

The three mountains and star, the Kingdom of Gotham, his younger self answered his tutor when pointed to the map of the continent. It is part of our Kingdom, but unlike the other kingdoms of our hold, this is ruled by five monarchs. The five Great Houses of Gotham, the Grand Dukes. 

This man was a knight of Gotham, but there was more to his armor. His shoulders had the design of a bird with wings stretched out like flames. A crowned firebird.

House Pryor. One of the Great Houses of Gotham, and with the crown on phoenix, it meant when Gotham stood, House Pryor was the representative of the Five Great Houses. If he remembered correctly, there was a time when he saw all the representatives of the kingdoms of his mother and father, and he saw the fire-bird too. But unlike other rulers who were men, this had a woman sitting on the council with her guards brandishing the phoenix on their armor. 

Then this woman…

“My Lady,” Bruce approached them, removing his cape to add a layer of clothing on her. “I would like to offer my assistance –”

“I don’t need your assistance,” she sneered, her head turned away from him, and her hand holding to the branded shoulder. 

Of course, she would hold a grudge against him for that.

“Prince Wayne, we thank you for your aid,” said the Knight.

“And you are?”

“James Gordon.”

“A knight.”

“I was.”

“Yet you still wear the armor of one, of the House you serve.”

“Better armed when traveling than have no armor at all. But I failed my charge tonight.”

Vivian held the man’s arm, “You were injured.”

“If you do not wish to accept my offer of aid, then perhaps my offer to find a Healer and a room to stay in.”

Before Vivian could reject it, Gordon took the gesture of good will, “It would be much appreciated, Prince Wayne.”

“Dick, please escort Sir Gordon and… apologies, my lady, I never got  your name.”

Vivian hesitated but then answered. “Vivian.”

“From what House?”

“Does it matter? We’re all the same to you, Bat-Prince.”

Frowning, Batman kept his head up and continued with his orders, “Dick,  escort Sir Gordon and Lady Vivian to one of the rooms we procured, and fetch a Healer to help them with their injuries, and ask the innkeeper to send them food as well.”

Dick sighed, it seems they will be bunking in the same room tonight. Bowing to him, Dick turned to Gordon and to Vivian then gestured to the direction of the inn they were staying at. 

“This way,” he took his horse and one of the horses of the two. 

Before he followed, Gordon was about to help Vivian to mount her steed but his injury stopped him. Seeing the struggle of the two, Bruce approached Vivian and offered his hand but she turned it away.

“Your knight is injured, and so are you. Put down your pride and let me help, just this once,” he told her.

Glaring at his hands, Vivian gave in and let Bruce lift her off the ground and saddled on the horse. Against her wishes, she gave her thanks to him then had her horse follow after Dick.

Left with the knight, Bruce sighed.

“You must forgive Lady Vivian,” said Gordon, placing a hand on Bruce’s shoulder. “She has been through a lot… has seen death and experienced the horrors no lady should in a young age. And all of it was brought in the name of one King.”

Bruce nodded stiffly. “If it would be alright, I would like to speak to you once you and Lady Vivian are settled.”

“Of course, my Prince.”

Gordon took his leave and followed after Dick and Vivian, leaving Bruce where the puddle of blood was and the townspeople watching his every move as he reflected on what he saw. The brand on the woman’s shoulder and the fear and anger in her eyes. Anger wasn’t even close to describing it, it was rage. Pure rage.

The Healer was just leaving the room when Bruce returned to the inn. He thanked the old Healer for her services then was about to knock on the door when Dick came out of their shared room and gave him a report about the army. The Queen’s army has arrived and they have been welcomed by House Crowne, they were waiting for him in the barracks. Bruce told Dick to inform the Head of the Guard to let the soldiers rest for the day, they will begin their work first thing tomorrow.

“Got it, and my Price,” Dick stopped on his tracks at the steps of the stairs. “You have faced many battles before, I think this one will be the hardest one of all.”

To gain the favor and forgiveness from those who were persecuted by Waller under the name of the Els and his. 

“I know… thank you, Dick.”

Dick took his leave and only when the Robin’s footsteps faded away did Bruce finally knock on the door. Heavy footsteps were heard, it must be Gordon wearing his armor, and he was right. The knight, already dressed for battle, answered it.

“My Prince, shall we speak now?”

“Only if you are ready. I have also bought this for Lady Vivian,” Bruce showed a newly procured dress from the local seamstress. “I hope it fits.”

Gordon smiled. “I am sure she will appreciate this, my Prince.” Gordon accepted the gift and left the door open as he went to give the gift. With the door ajar, Brucec saw her inside. Vivian sat on the bed, wrapped in the knight’s cape.

“A gift from the Bat-Prince,” he heard Gordon’s voice, soft like a father is to his daughter.

Vivian glanced at the door’s way where she saw him standing here watching her, Bruce immediately looked down on his feet. He shouldn’t be snooping inside a woman’s bedroom. 

“Give him my thanks, General,” she said.

General?

“Of course, I shall be downstairs to keep watch. Call for me if there is anything you need.”

“What about you? How will you rest?”

Gordon laughed. “Good ale is all I need, my lady.”

Vivian smiled, it was the first time Bruce saw her do so but it was fleeting.

“I shall leave you to your bath and to change.”

Gordon then returned to the door and closed it after him. “Lead the way?”

Below the rooms of the inn, the Prince and the knight sat at a private booth where they were served ale and food. He let the knight eat until he was full before engaging in their talks, and during that time Bruce kept watch around them and would occasionally take bites from his plate. 

“So,” Gordon spoke, barely half through his plate, “What do you wish to speak of?”

“It can wait–”

“We can talk while we eat, unless that is against the rules on how royals dine,” he laughed.

Bruce only chuckled. “The sigils you wear. The three mountains and the star, and the crowned Phoenix. That is the sigil of Gotham, the kingdom in the east, ruled by five Great Houses. The crowned phoenix means you are a knight of House Pryor, and during that time, Pryor is the representative of Gotham.”

“Your point?”

“The last we heard of Gotham was magic users destroyed the paths to it, blocking the kingdom from the rest—”

Gordon laughed, not in humor but in disgust. “Is that what that bitch told you? Waller has a way of twisting her tales.”

“That’s why I’m asking. Up until recently, I learned that the campaign against magic users that is supposed to be peaceful was abused by ambitious people like Amanda Waller. Hunts, brutality, branding, and experimentation, extinction of powerful Houses, that’s why I’m here to set things right. To fix all of this.”

“But from whose orders do they come from?” Gordon glared at him.

“The persecution was not part of our goals. We do not kill the innocent.”

“No, you just chuck anyone who has powers and magic in a cell. Quite hypocritical if you ask me about Els having power.”

“It was magic that killed my mother and father.”

“No. It was a madman who did it, he just used magic to do it. Magic is a tool used by men for their agendas… and what about you? I saw your eyes, I guess the rumors of the bastard of Queen Martha are true.”

Bruce’s hands balled to a fist, and Gordon saw. 

“But I hold nothing against you being a bastard. I’ve trained many bastards when I was a knight in Gotham, they’re good lads, just lost, shunned by the people for being born. I’ve raised many of them, fought alongside them. Gotham was built by bastards who were shunned by their families and made names for themselves. Some call it the City of Bastards… now it’s…”

“What happened?”

Gordon sighed. “The same thing that happened to the others. Your and the Els’ decree against magic came to the ears of many, the thing is many of those sitting in the Council of Gotham had magic… they plan to gain independence–to be a free-city, like the ones across the great ocean. But before diplomacy was even presented on the table, they came. 

“Waller knew that Gotham was protected by mountains, and had the advantage by land, so they attacked by sea. Her navy came and blocked our ports, and invaded our city. Unlike the others where it was a “peaceful” takeover, she used force because half of Gotham’s citizens were magic users. Its forces used magic. They had these runes on their armor that deflected our magic, and they dragged every man, woman, and child that had magic in their blood to the streets, and branded them before throwing them to the pits where they would wait for their execution.

“Then, they came to the palace, with the guards sent to the docks and fend them off, no one was left to protect the families that resided in the castle, so they ransacked the place. Desecrating the Seats of the Council, and the Lord representatives. They killed them in their seats and pissed on their graves. Their soldiers raping the women they could find.”

Bruce’s fists started to shake as he imagined what Waller did without them knowing. This was her campaign against magic, not his. Not his family’s. The Els would not have agreed to this monstrosity.

“And the Lady Vivian? I suppose she is a noble of the Great Houses too, and you her sworn shield. House Pryor then?” He whispered the name.

To answer his question, Gordon held the sigil on his shoulder.

“Lady Vivian is the last of her family, and she witnessed the horror of it herself. Dragged from her chambers, stripped naked from jewels and her dress, at that time Lady Vivian’s magic has not shown itself but they did not care. Her mother was touched by magic, so she and her siblings were too. Waller made a spectacle of them, humiliating the entire Pryor family before everyone, having them stand there on the platform where they were stripped and branded, each one of them. First her mother, then her, then her young siblings who can barely hold swords of their own. 

“Her father was hanged  for marrying a magic user, and her mother? She was burned at the stake. All of them were. But, as they burned, Vivian didn’t. Instead, the flames of her pyre turned gold and she burned everyone around her but for Waller. The great fire bird burned the soldiers and had them fleeing. I can still remember it as if it were yesterday, when the flames came towards me and my family, I thought we were done for, but it did not harm us. Everyone around us burned but for the patch of land we stood. All those who were left of Gotham’s citizens unharmed, but Waller’s army were scorched.”

Bruce remembered that night when Waller came back with a report to King Jor-El about her army being killed by the magic users. Jor-El wanted to avenge the army himself but Waller said that there was no reason to because Gotham has destroyed itself. Nothing remains of the city.

They were fools to believe her.

“We saved what we could, tried to rebuild, but the damage was done. The Lady Vivian and a few remaining members of the Great Houses were all inexperienced in leading… Gotham is now for the darkness and the dead. So, please, understand her hatred towards you and your family. It would take more than gifts to soften her hardened heart.”

Understandable, it seems this should not just be his work to carry but the Els as well. Bruce reminded himself to write back to the Els about this so they can talk about their next course of action. Waller’s works were worse than they have imagined. If that was the case, he would need to return home and inform them himself too. A letter will not be enough.

“Then why have you come here? It seems you are fleeing from someone. A noble lady with just  one knight. That means you do not want to attract attention. And her clothing, those are not the clothes of a noble. You’re hiding.”

Girl, we haven't seen you around for ages, why now?

True! As those who have followed me for years know, I fell ill in 2020 and have been very irregular with updating. Due to Long Covid, I barely have energy and time to write as I am asleep a lot. It also means I can't work a proper job any longer. Which sucks. I'm currently a stay-at-home mom. Still sleeping a lot.

I have had surgery last August, removing my womb etc, got rid of a tumor and have been feeling a lot better since. But like I said, still limited energy thanks to the long-term drag of covid and sleeping a lot.

Any plans?

Yes! You haven't really seen me around last year because I tried to focus my energy on writing original tales to publish in 2025, since I can't work a proper job. I'd saved up money to achieve that goal (buy cover, hire editor) but then my laptop broke down and I had to use up my savings to replace it). Any more questions? Just ask! :)

2. What's your total A03 word count? .........237,027 Fuck that's a lot of words LOL

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? Yes! I love talking to my readers and honestly every comment that gets left on one of my stories touches my heart!

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Uh.....I don't think I have any. Most of my fics are smutty one shots that end happy ;) lol

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? I would say A Place To Escape because I worked the hardest writing that fic and Kylo and Evangeline go through A LOT before their happy ending.

8. Do you get hate on fics? Not really. I once had someone comment that I must be jealous of Rey cause I write KyloxReader fics but I'm also a Reylo sooooo. But I'm sure there are people out there that talk shit about me and my writing lol

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? YES. All of the smut all of the time.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written? Nope. Well.....once I wrote that Heath Ledger's Joker falls through a wormhole into the real world of NYC were me and my two best friends find him and taken him home......Don't ask....and no you can't find that fic anywhere LOL

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not that I'm aware of.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated? Nope.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? I have! Not for awhile now but they're deff fun to do!

14. What's your all-time favourite ship? Jesus idk...there's so many.... Prob Sandor x Sansa cause I've loved them the longest.

15. What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? Most likely Darkness Into Light. It's never been released but it's a multi-chapter Kylo x reader fic where reader is also an apprentice of Snoke's and Rey tempting Kylo back to the light causes all these problems. I've had the story planned out and semi-written for years now. I love my ideas for it but I don't think I'll ever have the time or energy to finish it/put it out there to the world.

16. What are your writing strengths? I feel like I'm mostly known for my smut writing abilities because I not only write smutty fics but also write smutty audios. Most of my followers call me "smut goblin" lol But I have been told that I'm good at writing about powerful emotions connected with SA. And that I'm good at the characterization of various characters.

17. What are your writing weaknesses? I'm too hard on myself and I think I suck. I also think I'm awful at writing descriptors. Like describing what clothing looks like or a place or things like that.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? I've done it a little bit in A Place To Escape. I wanted Evangeline to have a native language that she used once or twice that Kylo wouldn't understand. But I ended up just using Italian words because.....reasons lol

19. First fandom you wrote for? Oh god....I'm not even sure now because I've been writing for so long. But when it comes to my Ao3 it would be Once Upon A Time (Rumbelle for life!)

20. Favourite fic you've ever written? Gonna have to say A Place To Escape because I put my heart and soul into that fic. And it's also the first ever multi-chapter thing I EVER finished.

MultiVersus Launch Trailer Reveals Jason Voorhees And The Matrix's Agent Smith

Developer Player First Games and publisher Warner Bros. Games have released the launch trailer for its upcoming platform fighter, MultiVersus, seemingly revealing Friday the 13th’s Jason Voorhees and The Matrix’s Agent Smith as new roster additions. This trailer arrives just a few weeks after we learned MultiVersus finally (re)launches next week. 

After roughly two minutes of MultiVersus hijinks with various characters from the game, the Joker, which we recently learned is joining the game with a voice by Mark Hamill, is seen sitting on the Iron Throne of Game of Thrones fame. Then, mysteriously, Jason and Agent Smith appear beside him, likely alluding to them joining the launch day roster.

Yes, the details say it makes the most sense for our hero to be at the center of the action because of his relationship with the beacons, the Protheans, Vigil, and Liara, but it’s more dramatic if he’s central to the story because he’s a famous badass superspy who came back from the dead to Save Us All.

Yes, the details say that we should be working for the council, but it’s more dramatic to have us working for a mystery man with glowing robot eyes and a hidden agenda who has a crazy space-throne room that would strike Palpatine as “perhaps overdoing it a bit”.

Yes, the details say that improvements to the Normandy should be part of an in-between game retrofit, and that Cerberus as presented in the first game is barely able to run a lemonade stand much less act as a galaxy-spanning superpower, but it’s more dramatic to have the ship blown up in the opening and replaced by this shadow organization.

Yes, it’s ridiculous that Joker and Dr. Chakwas would leave their highly respected positions with the Alliance and sign on with an actual terrorist organization with the blood of hundreds on their hands, and who may be personally responsible for the worst thing that ever happened to Shepard, but the story is so much more dramatic if our friends come along!

Yes, the details (and common sense) dictate that people ought to stay dead, but it’s so expedient to establish our new villain by having them kill the main character.

(You can put sarcastic scare quotes over the word “dramatic” in the previous paragraphs if you need to. It’s okay. I understand.)

So much of the debate here centers around whether or not these events “made sense”. How did a generic terrorist organization – one with no narrative build-up in the first game – bring someone back from the dead? How did they build this ship? Why did your loyal Alliance crew abandon their lifelong careers to work for this terrorist organization that was blatantly behind some atrocities that Shepard dealt with in the first game?

But these questions are a dead end. You end up arguing over codex entries, which are maybe kinda supported by other codex entries, and this one thing that guy says if you pick the right question on the dialog wheel. And if you do an item-fetch sidequest then Chakwas gives you a new excuse that’s slightly less implausible than the excuse she initially offers. And then there’s a link to some forum where some guy has constructed twenty paragraphs of fan-cannon that “explains everything”.

We act like this would be an acceptable way to start act 2 of a story and the only problem is that the writers forgot to properly fill out the right codex paperwork. But this approach to establishing a new status quo is brutal hack job with no sense of pacing, build-up, pay-off, or structure.

In the first game, the codex was a reward, a place where lore-hounds could go to get a deeper understanding of the world. In the second game, it was where they stuffed all their retcons and excuses for whiners who didn’t like working for terrorists instead of trying to save the galaxy.

You entered the vinyl store full of curiosity, enamored with everything inside. Your fingers moved along the edges of the records until you stopped and took one out. Getting the “Side A” of the vinyl, you placed the record on top of the opened turntable as it glistens as if it was speaking to you. The stylus started running along the grooves on the record, and slowly translates it into a story you were never quite ready for.

Jake had broken the vow, greed came crashing down, destroying his sanity, for he had fallen in love with someone at the right place but the wrong time.

You still vividly remember the last time you saw him, the promise that he made, the same promise that he had broken. The promise that he told you that he would never leave, but the next day, vanished as if he didn’t exist.

Summary: You really should’ve listened to the stories to not follow a white rabbit if you ever see one. You really should’ve stopped and thought about it first before following it down a hole when you didn’t know where it might take you. You should’ve run away when you see the rabbit transform into a child. You really shouldn’t have, but what can you do, you were one curious child.

I’m not trying to be Charlie Brown getting tricked by Lucy Van Pelt with her little football.  I will not fall for the banana in the tailpipe. I will not get my hopes up high that THE FLASH is actually shooting.  Sure, Andy Muschietti says “Day One”, but what if it’s just day one of pre-production? What if it is actually day one of shooting and then WB pulls the plug for some reason.  Nyet.  I won’t believe THE FLASH - the film that was announced in 2013 and has gone through more directors than Barry Allen has gone through timelines - is actually ready to go. Even though the hiring of composer  Benjamin Wallfisch (SHAZAM!, INVISBILE MAN, BLADE RUNNER 2049) to do the score was announced, I still don’t trust it. Prove me wrong, Muschietti. Prove me wrong.

The other production I am surprised is actually under way is BLACK ADAM.

It was recently announced that comedian and RAMY costar Mo Amer has joined the cast joining Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Noah Centineo, Aldis Hodge, Sarah Shahi, Marwan Kenzari, Quintessa Swindell, James Cusati-Moyer and Pierce Brosnan.

- More casting news out of the DCEU. She played Dr. Watson on CBS’ ELEMENTARY and she played  the iconic O-Ren Ishii

now Lucy Liu is once again coming in for the kill. She is the latest to join SHAZAM 2: FURY OF THE GODS as the villainous Kalypso, sister of the film’s big bad Hespera played by Dame Helen Mirren.

Under the sea, there are rumblings that GAME OF THRONES Iron Islands usurper Pilou Asbaek is joining AQUAMAN 2. 

And since this is, apparently, a time for miracles, ATLANTA is finally back to filming after an extended hiatus!! Rumor is that series three and four will film concurrently in Europe.

The last episode of series Two (aka Robbin’ Season) aired in 2018!!

ATLANTA was gone so long that people began saying DAVE was the best show on F/X! (Though, DAVE is really good. Loved the GaTa centric episode and the episode where Lil Dicky freestyles on The Breakfast Club.

These two dudes will be back June 16th for series two.)

Anyway....in the interim the not Donald Glover stars of ATLANTA has been staying busy.  Oscar nominee Lakeith Stanfield starred in UNCUT GEMS, THE PHOTOGRAPH, KNIVES OUT, JUDAS AND THE BLACK MESSIAH and the upcoming Netflix western THE HARDER THEY FALL (costarring Regina King, Idris Elba, Ed Gethagi, Delroy Lindo and Jonathan Majors).

Zazie Beetz starred in HIGH FLYING BIRD, WOUNDS, SEBERG, JOKER,

will also appear in THE HARDER THEY FALL with Stanfield and she and Brian Tyree Henry filmed David Leitch’s much anticipated actioner BULLET TRAIN starring Brad Pitt, Sandra Bullock, Michael Shannon and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. 

Besides BULLET TRAIN Brian Tyree Henry had a small role in JOKER, THE WOMAN IN THE WINDOW, was one of the stars of KONG VS. GODZILLA, 

and will (eventually) be seen in Marvel’s THE ETERNALS.

Young God-Part 1

Summary: Your power isn't even a power its simply words. You can understand people, get into their head and know them better than anyone all willingly on their end. This made you useful to the avengers when villains came and you could understand and fix them. When this is asked to be done to loki you cant help but fall for the god the more you get to know him.

Notes: Ok lemme just start of saying loki isn't going to be...nice in the beginning of this i got the idea off of joker and harley quinn's relationship and slightly silence of the lambs so do with that what you will now i adore loki so he won't be a dick the whole time just yea someone getting into loki's head? he isn't too chill with that.

You walked down the stairs leading to the dungeon where the god was locked away ready for you to speak to. you heard the mocking laughs and sarcastic remarks made as you passed the cells.” “hey mortal lemme get a taste” he said thrust to you. you flipped him off not looking at him and passing on by. seeing the god laying on the couch reading a book you walked through the boundaries placed stepping before him. Odin had given you a pill, said it would allow you past the wall of an hour and only you. “hello” he said reading his book still. “apologies for my fellow inmates they can be quiet rude” he said with a small smirk.

“ironic coming from a man with the nickname silver tongue” you said sitting down on a chair in front of him. he placed down his book “oh doll there's more to that nickname” he said with a wink. you simply rolled your eyes in response. you had been told loki was like this. “anyways why are you here” he asked sitting up turning to you “did odin send you to make sure im behaving?” he asked with a snarky tone

You made a mental note of his hatred for odin, though from your interactions with the man you slightly understood that. “i'm here to speak to you” is all you said. loki scoffed “you doll are a horrible liar” he said with a smirk. He stood up and walked around you almost scanning you. “what's the real reason your here?” he asked behind you. “truly i am here to talk to you” you repeated with a straight face and shrug. “then talk” he said bending down right in front of your face. his breath ghosting over your face and his long wavy hair falling in his face. “your a god you live for years on end tell me loki, how old are you?” you asked. loki gave a smile before standing “my age? that's what you came for?” he huffed. “ill answer your questions if you answer mine” he said in return

you turned around facing him “i don't answer questions” you said with a shrug “oh come on doctor i know your other patients didn't just comply with your questioning” he said with a smirk. he was always smiling or smirking, never a true smile something to show planning, no not planning, anger? no not anger. hurt? yes thats it hes hurt and hides it with his devilish smile. to throw you off to push you away. make you fear him over wanting to know him.

Now the new question was how did he know you were a doctor. well you may not be an official doctor but you were one of sorts. You had been in college to get a phycology degree until fury swept you up making you work for him. you tilted your head alarming the god you were lost on his accusation. “oh dear as you said i am a god you don't think i could fall for your tricks and lies like the others did you?” he asked walking to you “doll only i make the tricks here” he said holding your jaw. “now we play by my rules” he said with another smile. “stop” you said. his smile widened “stop smiling” you said. you saw a hint of confusion wash over before it was erased with another smirk “why doll?” he asked. “because its a lie” you said. loki's face became serious “you talk of lies yet you wouldn't tell me why your here” he said walking around the room.

“Fine i'm here to evaluate you” you said simply “now will you answer my questions?” you asked. “I have been just not the ones you want the answer to.” he replied. “agree to my terms and ill be more than willing to answer you” he said with a sarcastic smile “i ask the questions not you” you replied. he shrugged laying back down reading his book again. you only had an hour with him so you had no choice but to comply with his rules or you'll get nowhere but you also didn't want the god to think he could just boss you around and throw a fit.

you shrugged picking up your bag walking out of the room. “1,054″ you said blankly. you turned confused “my age” he said still reading. you nodded walking back in “one question” you said sitting down. he smirked still looking at the book but not reading it “well start simple. name?” he asked. “y/n” you replied. “y/n....mmm now y/n why are you here?” he asked sitting up. “to evalu-” you started to say before he cut you off “why are you here?” he asked “were not doing this loki i said one question” you said standing back up. your hour was almost over. “what happened doctor don't like a taste of your own medicine?” he asked with a dark smile. “why do you do that? smile so much?” you asked. “you tell me you said it was a lie which means you've made your own deductions of it so tell me doc why do i smile so much?” he asked tilting his head.

“to make people uncomfortable. they see you smile this mischievous smile a smile that they expect from the god of mischief. you become what people expect of you so they stay away now why you push people you don't know away i'm not quiet sure on but i assume it has something to do with your spite for odin” you said simply. loki gave a wide smile standing up “well well well doc, you are utterly” he said behind you getting close to your ear “wrong” he said simply straightening backup. “now you well i do have so many things to say about you” he said moving in front of you. “you evaluate people thinking you know everything about them so much more than they know themself, from body language to words to the crime they commited. but i my dear am simply a king who deserved a throne and would fight for it” he said sitting back down “hours up doll better leave before your trapped in here” he said looking at you with another smile. 

Walking back up you felt unnerved. the god had a weird aura to him like he could read your mind. granted he may actually be able to in which case you need to be more careful about such things. you walked to your room feeling empty and drained. you fell back on the bed rubbing your face. the odinsons had given you your own quarters while you stayed there. there was  knock on the door and you groaned “its open” you replied and the door opened revealing yet another god, a kinder one. Thor walked over sitting next to you “how was loki?” he asked. “loki was....exactly how yall described him” you sighed. thor griminced he hoped his brother would behave “did you get anything out of him?” he asked. “just his age which is useless it was more a test to see if he'd comply with me. think he got more out of me than i of him” you said looking up at thor. 

“give him time. my brother can be...difficult but your a legend at this so you should do well it may take longer than usual but you'll get it” thor said cheerfully. you gave a small smile. you wanted to believe that you truly did but honestly you weren't sure. “loki sure is a strange guy” you said sitting up “Well he's not a guy hes a god such as i and he was raised by my mother” he said to you.

“get some rest i bet you'll do much better tomorrow” he said with a smile walking out. you sighed and changed, laying bed you felt sleep take over. 

you stood in a black room seeing your parents smiling faces “mom? dad? you said with a smile. you started to run to them before blood dripped from there eyes and they slowly faded away. you stepped back feeling empty once again. you heard a chuckle and turned seeing loki laugh and roll his eyes before vanishing too

You awoke with a small scream and your heart racing. you were drenched in sweat and tears streamed down your face. once you calmed you growled launching up from bed and walking down to the dungeon storming past the assholes shouting crude things at you. you stood at loki's cell banging on the wall “hey asshole” you said blatantly. “well hello to you too doll isnt this a shocker” he said with another smile god how you wanted to slap that smile off his face “shut up” you said. loki sat up looking at you “well what can i do for you?” he asked. “your not supposed to have you powers in here” you said with a stern face

loki tilted his head in mock confusion “why i don't” he said voice dripping in sarcastic hurt as if offended by such accusations. “don't lie you bastard! You were in my head i know it you know it so let's just both know it” you yelled at him. His smile widened “ok darling but see i do have one question left unanswered. how did your parents die?” he asked stepping to the glass. “they didn't it was simply a nightmare” you groaned. 

“no no see people who dream of the death unprompted feel pain,sadness,fear they try to stop it you well you felt nothing you just...stood there” he said looking down at you. “so how was it they died?” he asked. “if you can get in my head then you sure as shit know” you said looking down at the floor. you really did not want to speak of it.

“of course i do doll but i want to hear you say it” he said leaning on the glass. “i will not play into your game” you said storming off “you still hear it dont you? their screams” he said. “i do” he said after

you turned “pardon?” you asked walking back to him. “have a nice night darling” he said smiling walking back to his couch. “but you said-” you were cut off by the sounds of footsteps “oi you are not to be down here madam” the man said walking to you “oh yes sorry i must have sleep walked” you replied walking upstairs back to your bed.

laying down your head felt as if it was spinning. This was going to be an interesting roller coaster wasn't it.
