Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse: The Edge of the Sony’s Spider-Verse.
Tumblr media
Alright. Let’s get to the meat of the business sandwich.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is the sequel to 2018 smash hit film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse that honestly broke all of my expectations about the film being a two-parter with too much info. I honestly loved the movie just as much as the first with its iconic animation style, charming characters, and impactful story. Directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson, it felt like the film was greatly cohesive without any confusion to the plot. It feels as if the film was not just a mandatory assignment but also a passion project made in the years before it was production. While I’m a fan of Marvel and the MCU (to some degree), I’ve definitely became a Spider-Verse fan.
Let us get into this Spider-Man classic once again.
The Animation
Tumblr media
Alright. Let’s get this out of the way.
The animation was incredible and awe-inspiring much like the first film, but pushed into overdrive. Each animated world has its own style that reflects a different version of Spider-Man. From Hobie Brown’s collage-like style to Pavitr Prabhakar’s bollywood inspired environment. Gwen’s dimension is especially colorful with the watercolor style reflecting her comic book covers. Almost every character has a distinct style to their animation from 1960s campy to 90s angst. While the movie visually stunning and dynamic, let’s get into what’s going on story wise.
The Characters
Tumblr media
The main characters of the movie are definitely Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy. They both are different sides of the story that reflect the theme of who someone is as Spider-Man and what kind of story they have or what they want out of life. In a way, it continues the ideas and themes about expectations with choosing their own path in spite of others’ opinions and expectations.
Afro-Latino protagonist Miles is someone who’s dealing with the crossroads of who he wants be while grappling with the expectations from his family. He’s also struggling with balancing his two lives as a teen and a superhero with his responsibilities to his family. When face-to-face with Miguel O’Hara, the Spider-Man of 2099, and the fact about canon events, Miles chooses to go against it believing he can save people without risking the Spider-Verse. The phrase “I can do both” is what caught my attention because it is possible for some people, but not a choice for Spider-People in that they must experience canon events for the sake of the Spider-Verse.
Gwen is faced with the rigid expectations of what it means to be Spider-Man and how she faces the choices she makes. Gwen makes the decision to go against Miguel and the Spider-Society to save Miles on the wrong Earth, deciding to become her own hero that she wants to believe in.
The Spot, Johnathan Ohnn, is the main villain of the movie with his power to make dimensional portals after the collider exploded in the previous film. They at first portray him more of a joke character, but then slowly build him into a terrifying threat with colossal amounts of power at his hands. This is shocking because I always thought of him as a lackluster villain despite having a cool power. They actually made what could of been a joke into someone more terrifying in concept alone.
The numerous cameos from the Spider-Society range from interesting to hilarious. One of them is an obscure spider-person in a wheelchair and with crutches named Charlotte Webber or Sun-Spider of Earth-20023. Others include a cowboy, cat, t-rex, and even dune buggy. They all could just be glorified cameos with no substance, but they actually bring out the abstract craziness of the Spider-Verse and what it means for future of the franchise as a whole.
The Story
Tumblr media
The whole story centers around Miles Morales and his journey into becoming Spider-Man, but also Gwen’s journey and how the Spider-Verse is being threatened by the Spot.
The villain is definitely the Spot and his crusade to destroy Miles, but the antagonist is Miguel O’Hara’s ideology about the Spider-Verse. Miguel’s insistence of maintaining the order of the Spider-Verse goes directly against Miles’ idea of what it means to be Spider-Man. Miles wants to save his father from a fated death as a police captain, but Miguel wants to let it play out so that the universe isn’t destroyed because of canon events.
The idea of canon events creates the division among the Spider-People where they choose to let people die to preserve the universe or risk its destruction. This idea is pretty similar to what Doctor Strange presented in No Way Home with letting the villains die than risk the universe. I think because Miles doesn’t follow the canon, he can break the cycle that all the Spider-People endure and have them even question the very system they follow.
I liked how the story left us on a cliffhanger that made us crave more of the movies and possible spinoffs. Leaving us wondering what will happen to Miles on Earth 42 with his evil doppelgänger or what Gwen’s plan is now that she’s leading a splinter team against Miguel and the Spider-Society.
Afterword
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is a miracle in the landscape of sequels and two-parters. It has pushed itself to a whole new level of animation with unique colors and styles. The story and characters are pushed to their limits with dilemmas of preservation and duty along with freedom of choice and finding one’s way. It reminds us that no matter who you are, you can still be unsure of what you want and still be okay with questioning things.
Now I can’t wait for Beyond the Spider-Verse next year.

The Medium and the Nameless Ghouls
Case file 002-7 audio confession
Sara: Aria English (US)
Copia: Diego Italian (Italy) Edited
Dewdrop: Ryan English (UK) Edited
Aether: Eric English (US) Edited
Sara’s Sister: Michelle English (US)
(Made with Microsoft Word, Bing, and Audacity)
Sara: If you Feel yourself getting worse just let me know and I will stop. Do you understand?
Dewdrop: Yes, I understand.
[phone rings]
Copia: What is that?
Sara: Oh no... Hold on a minute.
[Phone stop]
Sara: Yes, what is it?
Sister: Big Sister, I got some news about your ex-husband.
Sara: I Don’t want to know, and I don’t care. It’s over between us.
Sister: But Sara your ex-husband just got his ass kicked.
Sara: I told you this before. I don’t care.
Sister: Why are you being so cold to him?
Sara: Do you want me to block you? You know I’m not the type to bluff you know.
Sister: Then fine. I’ll call dad.
Sara: Sorry about that.
Copia: Are you going to get into trouble?
Sara: No, my dad always has my back. Even after my divorce. Now then, State your name and occupation.
Copia: My name is Papa Copia Emeritus the fourth.
Sara: Not you Copia. I was asking Dewdrop.
Dewdrop: Me? Uh...
Sara: Copia, can you comfort Dewdrop? I think he’s getting nervus.
Dewdrop: No, I can take it.
Copia: Let me be next to you, just in case.
Dewdrop: Okay, fine.
Sara: Again, please state your name and Occupation.
Dew: I’m Dewdrop, Former water Ghoul number 157, now fire ghoul number 106. Bass man turned lead guitarist for project ghost.
Sara: Alright then, can you tell me what happens on the afternoon of March fifth? According to your brother Sodo, you saw Lucia Watson murdered at the clergy garden. Can you clarify that statement?
Dewdrop: Yes. I was patrolling around the garden at the north western part of the clergy. I was admiring the fish at the pond. You can sort of say I was goofing off. Then I overheard some yelling from of the Clergy offices. There I saw Sister Lucia and Bishop Johnathan arguing about Papa’s position at the clergy.
Copia: What did I do? Did I do something wrong?
Sara: I don’t think you did anything wrong.
Dewdrop: No, they wanted your seat, Papa.
Copia: Cosa vogliono con la mia sedia? (What do they want with my chair?)
Sara: I think he means they want your position of power. The bishop wants to be the next Papa of the Clergy of Sin.
Dewdrop: No, It’s not like that. It’s Sister Lucia who wants Papa’s position of power.
Copia: No, it's not true! She is the love of my life; Lucia will never betray me.
Sara: Papa Copia, please calm down.
Dewdrop: I’m sorry papa, but what I’m saying is the truth. Lucia somehow found out about getting a high rank position by becoming Papa’s prime mover.
Sara: Prime Mover? What is that?
Copia: A prime mover is a maternal slave. You know a child bearer for the Dark one.
Sara: Does she know about that?
Dewdrop: No, she didn’t want to listen. Even Bishop Johnathan warned her of the risk. But then she started to blackmail him.
Sara: What kind of black mail?
Dewdrop: I’m trying to recall, but I think it was about a young girl that was killed in a catholic church somewhere in Argentina.
[door knocks]
Sara: Hold on. Yes, what is it, Aether?
Aether: Sorry to interrupt but Sister Imperator is down the hall.
Copia: Looks like we may have to cut this down short.
Dewdrop: I’m sorry if I wasn’t useful.
Sara: No, you did more than enough even in your condition.
Dewdrop: Thank you.
Copia: you take it easy and get some rest.
Sara: When you get better, come by at the mansion of the three papas. We’ll talk more there.
Dewdrop: Alright then. Thank you for your time.
Aether: Good bye baby doll.
Dewdrop: Get the fuck out of here Aether!

Restoring America's Soul and Sanity: With Dr. Phil
COMMENTARY:
Dr, Phil, the Johnathan Livingston Seagull of the Jerry Springer Cage Match Reality Shoo.
This is the whole thing about the Family Values element of Supply Side economics, to dismantle the social structures of the community family structures depend upon for logistical integrity, Haiti is an example of what that looks like in the extreme, Haiti is result John Galt creates in Atlas Shrugged, The object of the Family Values trope is to shift the tax base for sustaining those social infrastructure mechanics entirely on families generating $50,000/tear or less and completely off people like Betsy DeVos, Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos . Family structures are too fragile to sustain that capital burden, All this homeschooling bullshit is all about eliminating any property taxes going to public schools and shifting the tax avoidance to paying the enrollment in anti-DEI Christian Academies. It is all white supremacist bullshit that is forcing the inefficient tribalism of Moses in the Wilderness. In this regards, Dr. Phil and David Brooks "Not David Broch) EW AGENTS OF THE Family Values agenda of the January 6 agenda for the hostile take over of America. David Brooks (not David Broch) is a career Fascist activist, Barack Obama's favority Fascist sociologists. Valarie Jarrett was the Obama gate keeper defending the University of Chicago business model Barack, Michelle and Hillary, Hillary's vote on Bankruptcy Reform was pure Supply Side economics, Nazification is insidious, It is like an evil enchantment that has the spiritual effect of carbon monoxide, You don't know it's killing you until the paramedic comes into focus above your race, January 6 should have been one of those permanent wake up calls for Party of Lincoln Republicans of the Jack Kemp persuasion. David Brooks  (not David Broch)  began his activist career being paid to prove Hillary Clinton was a lesbian as an agent of the anti-DEI agenda of white supremacists. Anti-DEI politics is anti-Family Structures politics, The Jack kemp Republicans in the Nixon White House were committed to a DEI future, Pat Buchanan and the Plumbers were the leading edge of the Elon Musk anti-DEI lobby with Dilbert as their brand. The neo-Nazis are complaining about the emerging coalition of Democrats and Republicans who are  tired of the cultural warfare of January 6 Conservatives committed to the hostile takeover of America by Trump's treason who voted to expel George Santos. The irony, of course, is that the January 6 agenda is trying to prevent Biden from fully implementing Reagan's New Federalism that completes Stage 2  of Eisenhower's 1956 Presidential Platform and launching the final paradigm shift of Stage 3 morphing into the Star Wars economics of 2001: A Space Odyssey, Jack Kemp's playbook for Affirmative Action as a Republican legacy of the Party of Lincoln is organically DEI.  The core ideals of the Declaration of Independence is DEI. Colin Powell was a direct consequence of DEI as a force multiplier for Esprit de Corps and the constant refreshing of the Tree of Liberty by the Army ROTC programs at HBCU like Hampton University, There is nothing more DEI than Eisenhower's 1956 Presidential Platform of the Indiana University School of Business,, if Mark Cuban is any example, If Mark Cuban is a Conservative, he's like Jesse Helms, who was more woke than Rev Al Sharpton, back in the day,: he's my kind of Conservative. Like Mitt Romney, Dr. Phil, like David Brooks (not David Brock) are shills for the right wing Father Knows Best paternalism of  Big Brother Fascism displayed at any Trump rally, By the 2026 mid terms, they will be as irrelevant as Jon Steward and Jerry Seinfeld,   Without relentless Nazification by white supremacists, David Brooks (not David Brock) wouldn't be a featured talking head on PBS but, given the moral confusion of the New York Times since the Pentagon Papers, he might still be  featured opinion writer,, Restoring the Party of Lincoln coalition of the GOP to dominance of the RNC will restore the soul and sanity of the Republican Par

Good morning! I hope you slept well and feel rested? Currently sitting at my desk, in my study, attired only in my blue towelling robe, enjoying my first cuppa of the day. Welcome to Throwback Thursday!
On this page, ‘Throwback Thursday’ is all about memories. So, what do you remember? If I was to say the word INCOMPOTENT, what immediately comes to mind?
There isn’t one person on this page who hasn’t growled or screamed in frustration at the incompetence of a work colleague or the employee of some company or business. The big question is: who employs incompetent people and why would you employ an incompetent person?
Incompetence takes a variety of forms. Some people are unable to do their job, while others are just not very good at doing their job. Some people are ignorant (but they think they’re smart) and some people are ignorant (and they really don’t give a toss!) Some people have been poorly trained and some haven’t been trained at all. Some people have irrational prejudices, while others are just straight-out racists, homophobes or misogynists (some are all three!) Yes, the incompetent come in many shapes and sizes.
Take the staff at Air Canada. An MP was stopped from boarding a flight to Canada with other members of parliament “because his name was Mohammad”. Mohammad Yasin, Labour’s MP for Bedford, was due to fly to Canada with other MPs from the Commons ‘levelling up, housing and communities committee’ when he was delayed for questioning “for a considerable period” at airports in BOTH countries last week. Pathetic! So, everyone named Mohammad is going to blow up your plane? No wonder the name ‘Muhammad’ or ‘Mohammad’ is popular, it means ‘praiseworthy’ in Arabic and there are 150 million people on this planet with that name. Are they all going to blow up your plane? Really?
Or how about police officers Johnathan Clapham (31) and Sam Franks (29) who, three years later, were finally sacked by a tribunal. The two Metropolitan police officers claimed they “smelt cannabis” as they stopped and searched athletes Bianca Williams and her partner, Ricardo dos Santos. The two officers lied and were guilty of gross misconduct, a police disciplinary panel found. Dos Santos said he had been left “traumatised” after suffering more than 20 stop and searches. So, were Clapham and Franks incompetent or poorly trained, or did they enter the job with some irrational prejudices?
So, on this Throwback Thursday, what kind of memories, thoughts or emotions does the word INCOMPOTENT conjure up for you?
Sometimes, I will hear someone say, “I’m sorry, I can’t explain it.” The ability to be able to explain yourself or express yourself is pretty key in communication. How is that other person going to fully understand what you’re saying? We want the other person to understand exactly what we mean, right? That’s going to be difficult if you can’t explain yourself. And how important is communicating? I’m not talking about two people having a conversation, I’m talking about two people talking and fully understanding and appreciating what the other person is saying. Communication. A two-way understanding. I understand you. You understand me. Now … how often does that break down? How often is there NO communication or miscommunication? How often are there misunderstandings? The problem is … and this is a big problem … it’s sometimes REALLY difficult to fix things. Sometimes a miscommunication can destroy a friendship, a relationship or a work situation. “What are words worth?” sang the Tom Tom Club in ‘Wordy Rappinghood’. How important are the right words? You can’t put a price on them.
Have a throbbing and thrusting Thursday (with hopefully a few thrills through your thoroughfare?) I love you all.

O jogo:
O time paulista logo se impôs diante do Fluminense.
O jogo continuou equilibrado no primeiro tempo, embora o Santos mostrasse melhor qualidade técnica.

[Throwback: Before Royalty] - Carlos Santo & Bambee for Tommy Hilfiger
Singer/Model Carlos Santo & Bambee Henry model and attend fashion event for Tommy Hilfiger. Both under Big Sound Music, the two are promoting and performing their song "Final Warning".
Bambee Narrating: This was my first time modeling for a designer and it was a great experience to do this with my label mate and friend. He is my senior and he made sure I was good the whole time. It was definitely a great experience.
Pictures inspired by Aaliyah and Ginuwine.
Shout to @vittleruniverse and @ebonixsims for the cute Tommy Hilfiger clothes.
