{BAND-AIDS au: Rocky and Gaz telling the guys about their time in primary School.]
Gaz: When I was in year 3, we hid all the chalk from the classroom and told the teacher that the principal, for some reason, had came down and taken all the chalk to his office for something. She left to get some more, and came back to us revealing the prank. She was genuinely delighted since she hadn't been successfully April fooled in a long time.
Rocky: Meanwhile in the next classroom over, a teacher was kicked in the balls by some Lil’shite named Jeremy screaming "APRIL FOOLS!"
Soap, wincing: Damn.
Ghost, crossing his legs: Fuuuck...
Gaz: Yeah, We never saw Jeremy after that, I wonder what happened to him?
Rocky: Oh you didn’t hear?
Gaz: Hear what?
Rock: I heard my nan, talking about it wit’ yer mum. apparently Jeremy’s kicked the teacher in a bad way, that it fucked up his ability to have kids...
Gaz: Are you for real?
Rocky, nods: Yeah, He sued Jeremy’s family, they had move out to Nova Scotia cos of the scandal and teacher’s family was harassing them.
Gaz: Oh shit...

(illustration is mine)
"Johnny, Mouse. How copy?"
"Solid."
"Great. Thought we lost you there. Mouse, how copy?"
Silence.
"Mouse?"
Not now, Ghost. I'm working right now. She thought to herself, a knife held tight in her left hand. Crouching right behind a Shadow soldier, her small figure gets even smaller, undetectable to the eyes of the American.
Small hands show to either shoulder of the soldier, the right holding his vest and the left stabbing right to the arteries on the neck. Making sure that there won't be any eyewitnesses, she withdrew the knife to her right, making a big slash no one could able to survive.
The soldier went limp, her right hand already on the vest went tense holding the weight of a dead man two times bigger than her, then left hand soon helped after sheathing the knife back into its pocket. Slowly she put down the soldier to the ground, making sure there was no noise made.
"Mouse busy. Killed a shadow."
"Was already thinking on how to look for a dead body as small as you." Ghost sighed in relief, two comrades alive is better than one.
"No need to. Mouse dead, more Mouse show up later. "
"Yes, and we've got a whole exterminator team outside." Ghost said, his voice low, reminding her of the situation. The sergeant tried to flip her brain right to left, front to back, trying to find a solution. There is no way they're going to hide along the way to safety right? There are just too many of them. Fully armed too, to remind her of their disadvantages.
She was lucky she still had her knife sheathed into her vest when the chaos broke out. Turns out Graves was not the cooperative man they were expecting to be. A fight between teams in this kind of situation is the last thing you would want. Especially against the ones who own attack aircraft that would end anyone in seconds.
The city of Las Almas probably is not the best, most peaceful one in the world, but it has its own charms; the music, the voice of children laughing, the chatter of people, it is never quiet in the city Los Vaqueros dearly loves.
Mouse took a small peek outside the alley, the first one after the last hour running and looking for a shelter to hide. The road that used to be so bright, so busy with locals running here and there is now dark, with nothing but bodies on the ground; men and women-children and also babies, the oh-so-beautiful terracotta floor painted with a shade of blood, streaming down the street, wet with rain.
"Bloody hell." She cursed under her breath, which is definitely the most normal reaction to this kind of scenery. "Does Graves know that they're doing a fucking war crime here?" The three of them can definitely hear the screams of wives, and scared husbands usually followed by a bang that ends them all, and the interrogative Shadows trying to force the Iranian out of his hiding, at least that is what they believe.
"These are innocent civilians..." Soap replied, she can hear the rustling behind his voice, probably still moving around trying to find a place safe enough to take a breath peacefully. "Shadows trying to play hero, aye?"
"Typical American move. Ghost, any ideas on how to escape this shithole?" Mouse has never been happy working with Graves, Shepherd, and anyone who's on their side. Too many orders, no solution. Too many noises for a small mission. She is not a fan of those unnecessary brrrts from the sky but she doesn't hate it, the Warthog-faced plane had saved her life numerous times.
"Stay low. Move through the houses. Make use of what you have. " The Lieutenant is a man of few words, but she had to admit that the things coming out of his mouth are usually useful.
Lucky. Mouse thought to herself, "I've got a knife with me. Soap?"
"Shite, got nothing on me. Probably dropped it somewhere in the forest--ouch--" Soap groaned, no matter how hard he tried to ignore the pain on his right shoulder, it keeps on coming back.
"Soap, you injured?" Mouse went into the empty-used-to-be-homey-coffee shop, her whole body complaining because instead of the sweet smell of her beloved coffee, she is greeted by the fishy smell of dried blood.
"Bullet to my right shoulder. But I'll be fine." Mouse nodded to herself, acknowledging Soap's report. Relying on the minimal light from the street and bright Shadow Jeep headlamp, she scoured the area looking for any extra weapons. It may be an empty house right now, but it still feels bad stealing something that used to be someone's. Especially when they're right there, eyes open wide with blood coming from the hole right between their jaw. The blood is fresh, meaning the Shadows were here, not long ago.
"Give me a sit-rep."
"Welcome to Starbucks, what would you like for today, Sir?" Mouse was proud of that one. She and Soap have been competing on who can make Ghost laugh harder. "Brits don't drink coffee, Mouse." Soap chimed, and she swear she could hear the targeted man chuckle a little. "Wid ye lik' some cuppa, Sir?" He continued teasing Ghost, he enjoys doing it every time. The comedian duo laughed together, satisfied by the joke. "MacTavish, sit-rep." Mouse can swear he was holding his laugh too, but for now, his stern reminder of the ignored comment is all they can get. "Rite, rite. Gated alley, Lt."
Mouse loves it every time someone makes a joke on the comms. These small interactions provide a little reminder of them still being human, not man-killing machines. Being in the army has never been easy, and will never be for anyone in the world, whether you're the strongest soldier or weakest loser out there. The emotional toll will always come like a big wave of a tsunami after every mission. When she was a Private, she believed that there is no way the missions would affect her mental health, that as long as she put nothing but her logical side of the brain into it. She was so tired of the stereotypes that women are much more emotional than men and tried so hard to prove them otherwise. But sometimes the percentage is right, and the surveys don't lie. She broke down in silence not long after her first mission.
Mostly, it was the blood. The only times she has seen blood is when it's flowing out of her flesh. The first time she has seen a fresh body it was so weird, and quickly realized how weak a human body could be.
The guilt of not being able to save everyone will never fade away, no matter how many missions she goes on after that. The kid in the Middle East. The small, weak old grandmother in Russia. The young man who died trying to protect his family in front of her.
The man was holding a handgun still wrapped tight by his dead fingers. Mouse noticed the weapon, and proceeded to take it from the cold skin of the owner, gently. This will help me survive outside. Thank you, and sorry I couldn't arrive earlier to help you. She spoke to the lifeless body in her mind, hoping that it would reach him somewhere, that he would forgive her for not being able to save the family.
She then looked around for any ammunition, because if he owned a gun that means he would have the refills for it, right? She thought and while she scoured the master bedroom for more possible useful stuff, she heard footsteps from the front door.
She stopped for a while trying to listen better to the noise, then held the pistol in both hands. By the weight of it, it seems like the previous owner didn't even get to shoot a bullet before having them in their head. Mouse kept her back to the wall, crouching behind the table in the corner of the room. The suspect of the noise stopped for a while, and from her position, she can see nothing but a familiar pair of boots.
The man is like a walking tower, yet his steps are feather-like. Mouse kept her presence hidden, she knows better than anyone that it would be a stupid idea to ambush a 6-foot-tall military man from the front. The scars and wound marks are proof of it.
She was going to wait until the giant walked past her so she could attack him from his back-until his face come into her sight. It was the lieutenant, probably looking for her and the other sergeant. "I'm inside the coffee shop." She could hear Ghost clearly from her comms, also from the man she planned on killing just a minute ago.
"Ghost! Sir!" She whispered loudly. It has been a long while since the last time she felt comfort in her heart. Seeing a familiar figure after hours of hiding in cold rain surely provide some kind of warmth, at least psychologically. The man in the balaclava somehow is fully-geared from head to toe, looking like a killing machine fresh out of the base. He quickly turned his head to the source of the sound, shoulders relaxed upon realizing that it was his junior behind the wooden table.
"Any injuries?" He asked, keeping it short and simple as always.
"No, Sir. Not a single drop of blood out." She answered, finally stood up, and walked to her superior.
"Good. Keep it that way. Gonna need a backup for exfil." He nodded, then proceeded to go upstairs. Mouse follows him automatically, keeping her footsteps light despite the heavy-duty boots. Ghost walked to the side of the window, Shadows can be seen still scanning the area that is now silent because there is no one alive to be killed anymore.
"See that church? We're going to secure our transportation right there." He pointed to the tall building up on the hills, easily visible because of the lights surrounding it. Probably a Shadow team meeting point. Ghost brought the walkie-talkie to his cloth-covered mouth, "Soap, I have regrouped with Mouse. Meet us at the church, how copy?"
"Loud and clear," Soap responded, almost immediately.
"Soap, can you manage? I can regroup with you first." Mouse reminded herself of Soap's injuries, worried about the lad going to the meeting point alone.
"Aye. Bleeding has stopped, kind of. Will somehow manage." He said, followed by a slight chuckle.
"Stay alive, Johnny." Ghost knows Soap probably better than anyone on the team, he would know when the Scotsman needs help or not.
"Roger, Sir."
Ghost moved his head in the direction of the stairs, ordering her to go downstairs first. She then moved to the direction of the kitchen, then opened the door leading to the back alley. The rainy clouds reflected the light from the church, making it easier to find a way out. Ghost followed her, always making sure no one is looking every time they make a turn into another tight alley.
They made their way into another house, the walls yellow-colored with a splash of dark brown here and there, plants on every corner of the room. Must be a cozy house before this shitshow, she thought. Ghost went straight to the kitchen, finding a rather big kitchen knife and handing it to her. 'Make use of what you have', as the skull-faced man one time said.
"Sir, can I ask you a question?" Mouse broke the silence, either it was her habit of being chatty at the wrong times or her attempt on getting her superior to speak more.
"Speak, Sergeant." He answered, eyes on the kitchen cabinets in front of him.
"How come you're so fully geared? You get a special drop or what?" She chuckled at the last sentence like it was a joke, but it really has been in her mind for a while. She has been going in and out of houses for hours, yet didn't find anything to hold on to as a weapon. How come this man has not one, but two rifles on his back?
"Your first guerilla warfare, kid?" He finally turned his back to the smaller women, slightly nodding his head in question. "You've seen my documents, Sir." Her eyes met with his for a second, then moved to the door to move again. He stayed behind her to keep her back, both of them safe.
Mouse tends to overthink her own actions, also over-analyze others' reactions. Usually by how their lips pout, how their eyebrows crease in confusion after she said something weird, and any changes in facial expressions. By Ghost's face not being visible, she could only rely on the slightest of his eye movements. They're a bit sparkly and strong when he's doing his job, dark when something didn't go his way, sometimes soft when he realized his teammate is injured, and she still can't prove it yet but also sometimes when he's looking at her. Is it because she's a woman? Because she's smaller? Looks weaker? Way greener than him? Anything it is, she doesn't care as long as she can keep working with the team.
"Sometimes you just have to let your experience talk, Mousey." He sometimes calls her Mousey when he's feeling a little bit chatty, usually to emphasize how small a mouse, and Mouse is. She doesn't hate it. Quite the contrary, she kinda loves it. It's like when your best friend gave you a nickname only they can use.
"Can't wait to be as experienced as you, Sir." She turned her head to Ghost one last time before stepping the wet road outside, again. They again stopped before making a turn on the alley. "Don't be like me, Sergeant. Do better." He has seen the glory and the muddy, stinky side of being in the army and he wouldn't wish anyone to see what he has seen and feel what he has felt before. If he could make Mouse stop her career in the military, he would. No human should live restlessly and hold the burden of world peace like this. Especially being in the 141 means that no one on the earth would be thankful for what they did, because if one does, that means they had failed on keeping the task force a secret.
"I can see the church, Sir, but there are too many Shadows walking around," Mouse reported to her superior who was behind her. This time Ghost went first, signaling her to get behind the car across the street. "Find cover. We're going to work our way to the church."
"Roger." The car's engine did warm her body for a bit, having it soaked in water for the last hours. She then peeked into the vehicle, the car key still stuck where it should be, feels like a gift from the great heavens for runaways like her.
"Sir, might want to mark this car. Engine's on, everything's there, we get Soap and run." Mouse said, excited to finally flee from the grasp of the Americans.
"Noted. Now let's move." Ghost led the way, avoiding the enemies' eyes which are ready to fire anyone who doesn't look like one of them. The pair kept on hiding behind cars, slowly making their way into the church.
"Any visual on the church?" Ghost asked the other sergeant.
"Aye. Road's blocked, though." Soap looked around for any threats, then moved to a darker alley, hiding in the shadow, from Shadows. "Try and cut through the shops. Much safer." Ghost warned. "Aye, sir. On my way."
After countless houses and shops, Ghost and Mouse finally reached the side fence of the church. The front steps were heavily guarded by an army of Shadows, making it not an option to sneak from the main gate. They could feel some kind of relief once they stepped on the cold granite floors of the religious building. Shadows might be carefree enough to kill civilians for zero reasons, but they wouldn't be brave enough to attack a church... right?
Whatever the truth is, they proceeded to go to the higher floor of the church. "I'll go first. Watch my back." Ghost said, holding his rifle tight. The church looks like it hasn't been touched by the chaos, chairs, altar, and everything still in place.
Ghost placed himself near the window of the fifth floor, prepared to give Soap the backup he would probably need when he reaches the building. Just right after he placed his sniper rifle(which Mouse kept staring at because how the fuck did he get that?), he noticed a figure that definitely doesn't belong in the Shadows squad. The figure ran into an alley, probably inside the house. The soldiers were facing another direction, not aware enough to notice him.
The pair both know it's ninety-nine-percent Soap who is inside the house. Ghost aimed his rifle at the front door of the said building, his eyes fixed right on the scope. "I'm nearby, Sir," Soap reported through the radio.
Soap was going to open the front door slowly and sneak up to the church, but it was unfortunately locked from the outside. Either he didn't realize that there are enemies outside of the house or a pure case of having so little patience left, he tried prying open the wooden door. Which of course was followed by a rather big noise considering you're hiding from a whole squadron trying to kill you.
"No, no, no, Soap! Not like that!" Mouse loudly whispered, her heart beating fast and muscles tense watching Soap's action from behind the walls of safety, or so she thought.
Soldiers swarmed the door in an instant, meeting one of the guys they have been looking for hours. A loud bang of gunfire echoed, not from the Shadow, but from the man beside Mouse.
Heads soon turned in the direction of the church, giving Soap time to escape. Shadows soon swarmed the church from the front gate, rifles on hand, definitely not trying to repel their sins. If you have done one war crime, why not add more, yeah? Nothing will change anyways.
"We've got visitors here! Meet me on the steps outside!" Ghost packed his sniper rifle, switching to a smaller, M4A1. They ran to the other side of the tower and went downstairs hoping that there will be fewer Shadows there. The American soldiers sure are fast, as one, or two already reached the fifth floor they were camping on. Mouse shot a bullet, piercing through the unprotected area of his face, replied by a bang from the other side. Two bodies dropped to the floor, one in all-black attire and one with a British flag on the right sleeve.
Ghost noticed the fight behind him, then turned his face to find that Mouse isn't there. She might sometimes be stubborn, but there was no time she doesn't obey an order. Ghost was midway to the 4th floor, then just as he was about to reach the fifth, another bang echoed, followed by a heavy thud.
He always has worst-case scenarios prepared in his head, and one is to work out his muscle a little bit and carry Mouse to safety somewhere in this mission. Sometimes his habit gets really spooky and becomes a reality.
"Don't--pick me up. I can go by myself." She grunts, holding up her body with the help of the wall, one hand waving to Ghost, signaling him to not worry. She is not scared of blood, but she hates the smell and the texture of it. She hasn't dared to look at her wound but can feel it from her inner left thigh. "Fast, before another Shadow shows up and kills us both."
Ghost opened his pocket and took out a leather belt, then fastened it right above her wound. He tightened it as much as it could go, then poked a new hole with a knife, the belt resting nice and steady, and of course doing the job of reducing the blood loss at the very least.
"Now we can move." Ghost gave a look of approval in his eye, then helped Mouse to stand straight on the ground. "Quick. I can hear the footsteps. You go first."
Mouse nodded, and they change places. Ghost gave an extra look every time he checks his back, and also every time Mouse took another step downstairs. They stop every time the rustling of army vests and heavy steps of the boots can be heard, wait until they are gone, or shoot them when they're heading their way. Mouse kept count of how many bullets will be left in her handgun, making sure every bullet out are deadly accurate. By the time they reached the ground floor, she only got two left inside the weapon.
Finally made his way to the steps outside the fenced church, Soap was a tad bit confused when he couldn't see any Shadows there. "I'm here, Lt! Area clear, no Shadows!" He reported, but of course, there would be no Shadows outside, because they were all inside chasing for the other two 141 members.
The wooden gate of the church opens, showing a limping small soldier and following a tall man with a skull balaclava, both running for their dear life. "Soap!" Ghost shouted to the man waiting outside of the fence, moving to his location to regroup. Soap shot the gates' lock with a handgun he found earlier, strapped to the body of a dead Shadow. He then opened the heavy gate with his unwounded arm, making it easier for the pair to exit the area they were in.
"Steamin' Jesus, Mouse! Y'alright?" Soap noticed the gunshot wound, the camo cargo pants now dyed dark red. Adrenaline keeps Mouse up, running, and shooting bullets, but other than that, she finds it hard to process. She finds it hard to make a proper sentence to answer him, so she just ran to the car she found before going into the church.
"Mouse found a car before we got here. We need to secure the vehicle!" Ghost ran behind Soap and Mouse, then noticed how Mouse became less and less fast. The bullet probably grazed her femoral arteries, and although not completely sever it, it's still one of the main arteries and it will leak more and more blood as she goes. It is undoubtedly Ghost's belt did wonders because if it doesn't she would've been dead from blood loss right now.
Ghost, being the only unwounded one then ran to the front of them, then picked up Mouse along the way. Usually, Mouse would've resisted, but she had little to no energy for that. "What... the... fuck..." She moved her mouth slowly, still processing what had happened, why is she on the lieutenant's shoulder, why is she not running anymore. One good thing is, Mouse is small enough, at least for Ghost, to carry on his right shoulder.
"Soap, use this!" Ghost passed his assault rifle to the sergeant. "Cover us!" He opened the back door of the Jeep, placing Mouse in a position where she could sit comfortably. Her eyes are still open, aware of everything that is occurring in front of her, but not strong enough to react. The handgun was still held tightly in her left hand, her right hand on the car seat, holding the weight of her body. The blood seems like it's not going to stop any time soon. She grunts, and straightened her body, planning on giving support by making the best out of the two bullets inside her gun.
Soap got inside the car, passenger's seat, and Ghost is driving. The car engine is still on, just like the time they found it. Ghost hit reverse, did a whole donut then hit the gas, reaching the speed that definitely will get anyone a ticket if the town is in its normal state. The Shadows, of course not giving up yet, tried to chase the stolen car. Soap shot rounds of bullets, killing the Shadow that was shooting at them. The driver is still chasing them, but no matter how many times Soap pulls the trigger, the bullets are not coming out. Mouse realized the crisis they're in right now and moved her body to the left side of the seat, took a look at the target, and shoots him. The first bullet was stopped by the window, and the second, the last bullet hit the driver near his neck. Was not the headshot she expected it to be, but still enough to help them run away.
Mouse let out a sigh, adrenaline stopped pumping and a wave of fatigue washes over her. She rested her head on the headrest, then moved her eyes, scanning the inside interior of the car. 'Oh, right' She thought, as her eye stopped on the wet wound. Everything is slow and blurry, and all she thought about was how she wanted to throw her body to a bed and sleep.
"Don't you dare sleep, Osborne." Ghost took a peek in the rearview mirror, finding the sergeant about to doze off. Soap turns his body, keeping a look on the wounded soldier in the back seat. "I'll keep my eyes on her, Lt. Keep driving." He said, and he kept his words, as he literally stared at Mouse without even blinking.
Mouse found the sergeant's action funny and let out a weak chuckle. "Stop. You're scary." Mouse knew that it was game over once she closes her eye. She knows it too well, she has seen it too many times, more than enough.
"Where are we going, Sir?" Soap asked the driver, eyes still on Mouse. "Alejandro has a safe house. We're meeting his men there." If Ghost could go faster, he would. The thing is, this is the fastest a Jeep could go. The blocked roads are also not helping. Soap unfastened his seat belt, then jumped to the back seat. "I'm sorry, little mouse, you know I hate violence but I had to do this."
He hit Mouse's cheeks from both sides, squeezing them and bringing his face closer to hers. "Let's do a little quiz, aye? What's your favorite subject in school?" The surprise slap and sudden quiz did open Mouse's eyes a little bit. "Heh, Lame." The driver chimed in.
"What the fuck, Soap." She laughed. "Mom wansme goodadmahhs." Every second she finds it harder and harder to move her body parts, her mouth not excluded. "Mouse... badadid." Her eyes started getting teary, Soap's question brought up some good memories of her hometown. "Tellmamom... Sorry-ah-lie...d." Her body shakes every time she sniffled, her head full of regret for not being honest with the people she loves.
"You tell them yourself, Natalie. Maybe after we are back in the UK?" Soap's mission was only one, and that is to keep the other sergeant talking. Having little to no energy left, Mouse nodded, hoping that her body wouldn't have to be sent to her house, because it will be funny that Natalie Osborne, who's supposed to be working in the paperwork department of the SAS, died because of a bullet wound.
People who have seen her documents, in this case, Captain Price and Lieutenant Riley, must've known that her parents actually knew about their daughter being in the task force. Her dad actually once became suspicious and called directly to the military hotline. He told them not to tell her, though, because he knows she would be embarrassed as fuck if that happened.
They were approaching the road out of the city but were met with barbed wires, preventing citizens to escape from the lockdown. Ghost didn't hesitate and drove through it, finally getting them out of the destroyed city. The surroundings of the car shifted from the street lights to the dark mountains, and them getting closer to the safe house. She doesn't know if it's because of the lack of lamps, but Mouse felt like her vision is getting darker as time passes. Her headache is gradually getting stronger and her eyelids get heavier each second.
"Hold on, Mousey. The safe house is close. We'll patch you up first thing first." Ghost held tight on the steer, he is not panicking, but no one will ever get used to seeing their teammate's soul slipping out of their hand. They are so close, so close to saving Mouse from the death's door.
"Am sleepy, Simon..." Consciousness fading in and out, she doesn't even realize she's calling her superior by his given name. Wrinkles show up between Soap's eyes, worried about the inevitable. "Come on, hey, you said Mouse don't die, aye?" He gave her cheeks some light taps, in an attempt to wake her up again.
Mexico is not supposed to be this cold, even if it's a rainy night. She doesn't know, it's her first time visiting the country. She could see Soap's mouth moving as if he was talking to her, but she couldn't hear anything. The last thing she wanted to do was to talk. She just wants to lay down somewhere warm and comfy, then sleep.
It all makes sense now. She's not going to be a better person than the Lieutenant, she's not going to be the first female captain in the SAS. The book is closing, and it is by an American betrayer. Should she become a wandering spirit, she will ghost Graves anytime she could. Yeah, that's probably a good plan for her future. She unconsciously chuckled with her last drop of energy, and finally succumbed to the fatigue.
"No, no, no, no, no--Fuck! We're losing her!" He slammed his fist to the car seat, then immediately rushed to fold Mouse's sleeves up and took her gloves off, desperate for any signs of a heartbeat. "How long 'til we get there, Lt?" He finally took his eyes off Mouse after a good hour and gave the Lieutenant a look from the rearview mirror.
"One last turn. Hold tight." Ghost made a hard turn but hardly a drift, the trees fading, and a big barn came into sight. It looks clean but somehow abandoned, with nothing but the field of grass surrounding it.
"I'll carry her. Johnny, you take care of your own wound." Ghost got out of the car first, then opened the back door. "Aye, Sir." Soap nodded, then walked to the said safe house. He kneeled to the iron plates on the ground, suspicious of the placement.
Ghost let out a heavy sigh, then carried the limp body out of the vehicle. He could feel her chest rise and fall softly, a sign for him to not give up hope. He may not say it out loud, but having his subordinate injured under his watch leaves a big guilt on him.
He stopped walking behind the kneeling Scotsman, and he too noticed the object on the grass. "Rigged plates." Soap deducted. "Smart bastard." Ghost approved, amazed by the Mexican Special Forces colonel.
Soap went inside through the open window, his now freshly loaded rifle ready in his hand scanning the lowly lighted area. Ghost followed with Mouse on his shoulder, and a red dot appeared on Soap's forehead. "Don't move." He ordered the sergeant, then a knife was sent flying in the direction of the laser, landing on the wooden pole.
"Who's there?" A familiar sound asked, answered by Soap who realized the owner of the voice. "Rodolfo!" He called, and the mentioned man then appeared from behind the pole.
"Soap! Ghost! Mouse!" His eyes light up, seeing his amigos alive and moving, but his face soon turned the opposite when he laid his eyes on Ghost's shoulder. He jumped out of his hiding, and gave back the knife Ghost threw at him, rushing to help them carry the injured sergeant.
"You guys equipped with proper infirmary?" Ghost waved his hand, signaling the Mexican that he will carry Mouse by himself. "Come," He nodded, then did a light jog to the light switch, turning on some of the barn's light sources. He then pulled down a lever, and wooden barn doors opened, showing them another door, hopefully, filled with medical equipment.
Ghost laid down her body on the hard bed, and gave her one last look, his eyes soft as always. The curious eyes that used to look up at him, were now closed, skin pale. He sighs, he has never been good at expressing emotions, on how to act when his teammate is nearly dying, in front of him. The Los Vaqueros had a combat medic, thank whoever's up there. The British Special Forces went out of the room, entrusting the life of little Mouse in the Mexican soldier's hands.
Whatever results that will come out of the door, one thing that Ghost, and Soap know, is that they were not ready to lose another friend. At least after they all saw her efforts in climbing the harsh world of the army. All those hard work, all the times they have bonded together as a team, as mates. How are they supposed to see Price's face after all this? How to tell Gaz? How to move on to another mission with one gear missing?
They don't have enough time to worry, never enough time for anything. They had to move forward, plan on getting their revenge on Graves and Shepherd, free Alejandro, find Hassan, and save the world from chaos.
One thing they keep in their head, is that you can never kill a Mouse. They will always come back, usually smarter, and even harder to kill. As someone once said:
"Mouse dead, more Mouse show up later. "

The long drive away from Camden Town felt like an eternity going by. Jovonka Isabel and Edna anxiously sit inside the dark vehicle waiting for what lies ahead for them. All three women didn’t speak to one another for the entire journey, thinking about what Sabini would do to them. If they will ever be able to escape from this hell, they have been trying to hide and run away all this time. But it’ll have to be something they themselves have to witness, even if it means a matter of life and death. Isabel stared down at her feet, feeling dead on the inside while her middle sister looked out through the window. Still remembering the horrifying torture she had to endure of Alfie being tortured in front of her eyes. Feeling as though part of her soul was forcefully pulled away, leaving her empty from inside. Jovonka felt she’ll never see him again, knowing he was really gone from this life. She prayed that one day she would see Alfie again in the afterlife. For their souls will reunite as one again, even if it means to wait for death to take her away. Just so they could reunite her with her king, that caught her heart.
I’ll see you someday again my love… you will see…
Outside of the foggy night, the girls noticed they were in a newer location that was new to them. The streets were more lit while crossing a long brick bridge and in the distance there was an enormous tower with a clock on top of it. Jovonka looked on in awe through the window and never thought of seeing such an enormous new place. But that didn’t stop her from forgetting where she and her sister and Edna were taken, too. Sometime later, they arrived at a brown, dark building with the windows in the front brightly lit with some people at the front entrance. It was like the hotel they stayed at in Margate however, this new building was more than just a hotel to stay in. The car turned into a dark alleyway as it came to a complete stop. The women held their breaths while Isabel held onto both Jovonka’s and Edna’s hands, feeling their hearts might burst out at any minute. Overthinking of what lies ahead for them which it did not prepare them to see. Victor then approached the back of the car, opening the door for them. But the girls scoot away from the henchman until both Bob and Jack appear from behind.
“Welcome to your new home, ladies,” Bob said with a cheeky devil grin. Victor and Jack only chuckled.
The women didn’t move an inch from where they were and, without warning, the men forcefully reached forward for them. Jovonka kicked with all her might, but it was no use for Victor handily dragged her out of the vehicle. Isabel tried her best to pull her sister back, but was held back in the hands of Jack. The men laughed out while this was happening to them. Edna also suffered the same. As the hopeless old maid screamed and struggled against Bob’s grip.
“Let go of us! Novel! Please help us!” Cried out Jovonka while being taken away inside. The young boy was nowhere to be seen.
Inside the lit-up hotel, they passed by a couple of rooms that they couldn’t quite make out. But they caught a scent of booze mixed with smoking cigars with some music playing, women and men laughing while some were making out from either outside or inside of the rooms. Without noticing the newcomers passing through the hallway. Towards the end, they turned a right corner, leading down a dark hallway that leads to the basement. Both sisters and Edna struggled to be let free, but it was of no use. Once they arrived down under Victor Bob and Jack shove them forward, making the poor old maid fell hard onto the concrete floor. Jovonka and Isabel helped her to her feet until Sabini appeared while Novel walked alongside him.
“Now don’t be afraid, my dears. We will take care of you three, no matter what. Isn’t that right, men? The Italian questioned everything and chuckled in unison.
The girls huddled against each other, embracing their arms together and shaking like leaves.
“Where, where have you brought us, you scum? Is this another sick act of yours to torment me, my sister, and Edna?” Isabel questioned with fury in her voice, giving a glaring stare at the mobster.
Sabini only chuckled under his breath as he walked forward toward the girls. Jovonka tightly hugged her sister’s left arm, seeing the Italian knelt down in front of them.
“This place here I owe it, and it will be your sanctuary now. But for you three, well, let’s just say it’s only the beginning of what I have in store for you all. Especially you witch dancer,” Sabini said with an ugly grin. Jovonka only looked at him with a serious face.
“Boys, take the old hag and the older sister upstairs. I want a word with the witch alone, of course,” continued Sabini as Bob and Victor aggressively took Isabel and Edna away.
The women tried their best to not leave, but it was no use.
“Let go of us! Sabini! Don’t you dare lay a hand on my baby sister or you’ll pay,” warned Isabel while nudging against Jack’s hands, but it was no use in fighting.
Once they were taken upstairs, the rest of the men left Novel was the left in the end. He stopped mid-way up the stairs and looked back. Jovonka and his locked eyes Novel with sorrow and regret in his eyes and heart wanting to help. But he had to remind himself that he sold out Isabel and his best friend. Novel couldn’t do much anymore and he would take this burden he had created for the rest of his life.
I hope you can forgive me…
The boy walked the last steps until the sounds of the basement doors were closed shut. Leaving both Jovonka and Sabini alone, just the two of them. The Italian strolled his way towards a wooden brown table as he took off his brown coat and hat. Jovonka felt stiff, eyeing her eyes towards the stairs, not knowing if she should make a run for it. But knowing the consequences of doing such action, it’ll only make things much worse.
“What… What are you planning to do with us Sabini?” Jovonka questioned with a shaky voice while her captor was taking his black vest off as she continued, “you have successfully killed the person I... I loved, regained your memories back seeking revenge on me and Alfie and now I am here. What else could you possibly want more from me?”
Sabini said nothing as he kept quiet while his back was facing Jovonka’s way. A small grin appeared on his face, slowly turned to look at his prisoner. Thinking and fantasizing about the things he would do to her while Jovonka did not know what terrors will lay ahead.
“More from you, eh? Well, my lovely flower, at first I was thinking of having you all for myself. Ever since that night your beauty and the way you danced I felt you actually bewitched me,” he said, folding the cuffs of his long sleeve shirt as he continued speaking, “I had to have you and that is why I wanted to buy you off from your now-dead master pig Gusotvo. But of course, he wouldn’t be the easiest person to convince to give up his shiny bright star. However, you turned out to be a little snake that put a false spell on me. And now you’re going to suffer what I had to go through all because your savior came to rescue you.”
Finishing up folding back his cuff sleeves, Jovonka, without thinking, made a run for the stairs. She reached the top and tried opening the basement door. But it was locked up shut, making the young woman panic uncontrollably while rattling the doorknob with her hands. She breathed in and out heavily as she now banged the door with her fists, shouting out for help.
“Help! Someone, Please!” She cried out, but it was no use asking such a thing, but she continued to do so.
After every cry for help, Jovonka felt a hard grasp against her hair, making her scream out in pain. Everything went fast before her eyes as Sabini dragged her down the staircase more violently until he shoved the poor girl onto a dirty-looking bed. The Italian hovered above the frightened woman, but Jovonka fought back with all of her strength. In a sudden turn, though, Sabini with so much force he had in him slapped her hard across her face. Almost knocking her in and out of consciousness, feeling her body now weak.
“What a pathetic action of yours to do, my dear. And let me remind you at this very moment, you little shit, you’re never getting out of this place. In here yea, you’re mine all for me to do as I please. And I don’t care whether you like it, I’m still going to enjoy every second. So cry as much as you want to scream your heart out. Fight back with whatever strength you have in you because you are now mine and my slave forever,” Sabini said with an evil smile as he disgustingly kissed the side of Jovonka’s neck.
He continued, leaving trails of his putrid kisses all the way to her breasts. The Italian devil, without stopping, ripped her dress off with both of his hands, exposing her sacred self. Just by looking at this site made Sabini hungry for more, knowing he finally can touch her.
She is all mine to have… at last…
“You fucking behave now, my pet, and enjoy what I have to give you,” he then said, grabbing both of her breast feeling his aching bulge between his trousers.
Jovonka couldn’t react for a moment until she felt Sabini went further down until she regained consciousness.
“Wa-wait… no, no please leave me alone,” Jovonka begged, but he didn’t listen because he then kissed both of her hips and forcefully ripped her panties with his hands.
“No. NO STOP! HELP! SOMEONE PLEASE!”
“SHUT THE FUCK UP! And stop squirming and stay quiet, yea?” He screamed back while standing on his feet as he unbuckled his belt. Jovonka tried to run away, but he caught her by her legs.
“No Sabini please,” she begged back, but the Italian gangster suddenly grabbed her by her delicate neck, almost choking her to death.
With one hand, he forcefully opened her legs up and in between, he unzipped his black pants. Jovonka was desperately breathing for air, placing her hands around his arm. Trying to remove his hand away from her, but he was stronger than her. Releasing his aching length, he readied himself between her forbidden flower, already imagining how she would feel around him. With nothing to pull Sabini back, he violently inserted himself into her. Jovonka winced in pain while he consumed her insides without a care. She let out screams and whimpers, feeling thick tears streaming down in the corner of her eyes.
“NO STOP! HELP ME PLEASE!” She pleaded with Sabini, then thrust into her in a savage and touch manner.
She felt everything was going all slow, trying to ignore the agonizing pain she was feeling. Hoping that this nightmare would be over soon, but it was just the beginning. Sabini groaned as he pinned her wrists down on her sides, enjoying the feeling of her warm walls pressing against his length. He thrust hard, leaving wet kisses along her chest and neck, gripping her wrists now above her head. Crying her lungs out, she had her eyes shut as the tears continued to shed. In no time, Sabini felt his peak coming undone, removing himself out of her, ejaculating onto her flat stomach. Letting moaning groans while releasing his white poison on her. He breathes heavily as Jovonka only lets out a small whimper, feeling the Sabini’s hot breath against her right cheek.
“That is what I call a good fucking,” he said in a low voice, giving her one last disgusting kiss on her cheek as he stood up on his feet.
Jovonka stood deadly still, letting out quiet wails laying on her side of the dirty bed. Sabini fixed himself up, not caring if the girl was fine, but it didn’t bother him to ask for one bit. After getting himself ready, he looked back at the woman, seeing her curled up in a ball. He then made his way towards her, grabbing a fist full of her hair as she let out a yelp.
“You’ll never escape from this place. You will obey my every command that I say. And if you and or sister do anything funny, I will fucking cut you up like animals. You understand?” He said, gripping on her hair with more force letting out another whimper.
She said nothing and the only reply he got out of her was just a slow nod. Satisfied, he let go of her, hearing his footsteps echoing away towards the door. A moment later she heard the door of the basement close shut, leaving her in the cold dark room hugging herself tightly in her arms. Crying her heart out and wishing to feel her Alfie next to her and come to rescue her. But that will never happen, knowing that he is now gone forever.
I wish you were here my love… I only hope death will come for me soon so we can be together again… wherever you are up in the heavens my Alfie watch over us and I’ll see you again… no matter what…

Days Later: Small Heath, Birmingham
“I feel we have been going in circles Cyril, I wonder where we are now?” Said Elena, sitting on the cold floor of an alleyway while the big dog nestled against the little girl.
It has been days since Elena ran away from Margate, as she was told to do by Jovonka. She and the Bullmastiff did their best to stay away from the open fields. But once they made it out of the forest, Elena wanted to go back to her family. Though knowing the risks of going back would be a big mistake on her part. And so they both never stopped fleeing until now, even though the place they settled themselves in will be something unexpected.
“We can’t stay here forever Cyril, we have to keep going. Or they will look for us if they are still out there. Come on, boy,” Little Elena said, getting on her feet while Cyril stretched his body out until he shook himself.
She giggled at his behavior until they made their way through the alleyway. They haven’t had a proper meal in days, and finding food wherever they went wasn’t the easiest task to seek. But the other reason feared that they’ll be seen again, so instead they laid low even though their hunger was getting the best of them. When they made it out into the open air, Elena looked both ways, but the street they saw was sort of empty. And when she felt it was clear, she and Cyril then made their way to wherever they thought faith would lead them, too. Some blocks later Elena and the big mutt found themselves surrounded by many loud sounds while working men shoveled what looked to be black coal. The smell of steel and gray smoke rose in the air and a burst of fire blew out of nowhere. Elena jumped back at this, Cyril barked at the orange cloud.
“Cyril, it’s ok boy. Come on, let’s keep going,” said the little girl in a reassuring tone which the dog calmed down.
Most of the workers didn’t seem to notice her and the big dogs’ presence since they were busy doing their duties. But some by-passers, mostly children, would only look at the new arrivals, but didn’t bother to say hello to Elena. But because they feared the big brown dog that was with her, thinking it would attack them. Little Elena, though, didn’t seem to notice this, for she was busy looking at her surroundings. The adults seem to care less since they see children run around almost every day. So Elena wasn’t too far different from the rest, but it was for the best. Making to the end of the pathway, they both turned right where she saw an open space where a small river bank and ships appeared in front of her view. It was also another busy and noisy site to take in, which Elena wanted to get to know a bit more. However, somewhere on the other end of the path, there stood two peculiar men that were looking for someone important. It did not prepare Elena to encounter the evil men she had feared to see once again.
“Oí, Mason, don’t look behind you, it’s the little girl,” Liam said in a whisper, hunching his shoulders.
Little Elena and Cyril passed them by the men, then looked at the young child.
“Are you certain this is what Sabini was speaking of? Or you’re just blind, Liam?” Mason said, sounding unsure and not wanting to take a random kid from the streets.
“I ain’t blind and it looks like the paper here,” said Liam while taking out the paper pointing at Elena’s picture, “See, what did I tell you, eh? Come on, let’s follow her before we lose her.
The men walked at a normal pace while seeing Elena walk down the gray path. The little girl felt her stomach growl, knowing that she and Cyril hadn’t had food in days. She tried to ignore the hunger as she continued on. Some miles later, Elena and the mutt found themselves in a new pathway. Feeling they might have been here before, Elena then saw a place not far in the distance. So she and Cyril walked their way towards the strange brown shop with three square windows along with two double doors in the middle. And on top it read the following words that, Elena had a hard time reading out.
The Garrison Tavern: Shelby Distillery
Liam and Mason were not far behind seeing the child making her way inside. Elena opens another pair of brown doors where she was greeted by an enormous brown and gold lit room. Where old and young men sat at brown wooden tables and others at the bar counter drinking their hearts out. Most of the men looked in her direction, confused to see a young girl in these parts. Not until the man behind the bar came her way.
“Sweetheart, are you lost? I’m sorry, but this is not a place for children you have to love,” the wicked man said, trying to be as polite as possible to the young girl.
Elena said little to the man; she only stayed quiet until she spoke.
“Please, sir, I don’t have anywhere else to go. It’s only myself and my dog and we have had food for days. Please, can you spare us a meal for us sir,” said Elena, gesturing her hands in prayer as the bartender sighed at her request.
Before he said anything, the door of The Garrison opened and in came Liam and Mason, making everyone else look at the entrance.
“Elena, why did you run off from me, oh? I told you to stay with me,” Mason said, pretending to be her father, grabbing a hold of her right hand. “My apologies, sir. She is quite the child to wander off. I’m sorry for the trouble now darling, let’s go home.”
“No, he is not my dad, he’s lying help me please,” Elena begged, struggling against the man’s hand, but Mason didn’t have none of it.
“Come on, sweetheart, don’t be such a brat and let’s go home, yes?” Mason said between gritted teeth, giving her a glaring gaze. Elena continued squirming, trying to break away from the stranger’s grasp.
Little Elena, without a doubt, bite hard on the man’s hand, groaning out in pain. He let go of her, but Liam scooped her up from the floor, carrying her out of the tavern.
“No, let go of me! Help someone!” she continued to scream her lungs out as Cyril heard the girl and barked at Liam.
The dog bit hard against the man’s right thigh, tugging and growling with force. Liam screamed out in pain until he dropped Elena onto the hard gray floor.
“Mason! Get this fucking dog off of me!” cried out Liam, feeling the dog’s teeth sink deeper into his skin until he felt thick streams of his own blood.
Mason wrapped the big bullmastiff’s neck with both of his arms, choking the mutt with all of his force. Cyril let go of Liam, but he was now choking out for air. Elena saw what the wicked man was doing to the brown dog.
“Let him go, you're hurting him,” begged Elena, tugging on Liam’s right arm, but he didn’t pay her any attention.
Mason grabbed the girl once more, screaming at the top of her lungs, begging for someone to help her.
“Oi! What the fuck is goin’ on out here?” screamed out a thick rough accent, making Liam, Mason, and Elena look at who talked.
He looked very skinny looking with a very peculiar haircut, his sides all shaved off. Along with a huge, bushy mustache and wearing a very good-looking suit outfit that only rich people could afford. The new stranger saw what was all the commotion about until he saw the little girl. Liam let the dog go from his grasp. The poor creature let himself fall on the pavement floor.
“This is none of your concern, Shelby. Now if you’ll excuse us but we have business to attend too. So you can piss off,” said Mason, holding onto Elena more tightly, but the person called Shelby wasn’t having it.
“Do you even know who the fuck you are talkin’ to, boy? Hmm? And do you not realize where you're standing don’t you?” said the mustache man as onlookers, including the ones from inside The Garrison, looked on.
“Yes, we know where we are standing, but none of us aren’t afraid of you or your other crazy brothers. Besides, being the eldest of the three, you, Arthur Shelby, believe that you can defeat me and Liam? I dare to see you fucking try, mate, all on your own. Foolish is what I think,” said Mason with a smug grin, finding the situation hilarious until the voice from hell was heard behind them.
“What makes you think it would be pathetic of my dear brother to take you both, gentlemen? You wouldn’t want to push his buttons if I were you boys,” said a raspy silky voice as both of Sabini’s henchmen nervously turned slowly to meet their maker.
Before them was a tall blue-eyed man with a gray cap on top of his black hair. His bone structure from his face was sharp and fine to admire. As he wore the same attractive suit as Arthur’s but in black and his hands covered in leather black gloves. Liam looks back at Mason with uneasiness in his eyes, evidently aware they were both doomed. Having nowhere else to run away from The King of Birmingham himself. Liam, however, didn’t want any of this, so he instead did what every coward does best. Run for his life to save himself to get away from the Shelbys until a sudden thunder-booming sound was heard. The henchman felt a sharp burning pain in the middle back of his back and front stomach. Liam then looked down, seeing a blood spot appear on his front shirt. He tried to say something, but everything went by slowly until he felt himself kneeling on the gray floor. Until his entire body limps on the cold pavement, breathing his last final breath. Several citizens gasp or stood deathly quiet, seeing the man’s dead body lifeless and still. Mason looked back at who shot the bullet and he saw the oldest Shelby’s holding out his pistol.
“Oh shit, please, let me go. Here, take the little girl. I promise to not say anything. Just don’t kill me,” Mason pleadingly said, releasing Elena from his arms and pushed her towards Arthur, but she instead ran towards Cyril, hugging him.
Both brothers said nothing until Arthur grabbed Mason from his collared shirt while the blue-eyed Shelby just stared. Out of the corner of The Garrison appeared a small group of men, but one of them stood out the most. He also had the same outfit as the other two Shelbys, but in gray with a light gray cap with crystal blue eyes.
“John, hold this fucking mugger down on his knees,” called out Arthur, his arms gripping around Mason’s neck, but the new brother went to help him out.
Elena felt scared at what was going on in front of her, deciding on whether she should stay put or flee from these new strangers. Who she sees to be dangerous as Sabini’s men. Arthur and John forced Mason onto his knees now until the third brother who Elena, hasn’t heard a name from yet, step in front of the man.
“Then explain why you are taking the girl hostage. There must be a reason so we don’t have to kill you. And who are you working for that wants this young child?” he said in that raspy silk voice, waiting for the helpless man to answer his questions but couldn’t find any words to say.
Suddenly the unnamed Shelby brother brutally punched Mason across the face some blood formed inside his mouth.
“I’m going to ask you one more time and this time I would break your into two pieces eh?” said the blue-eyed man giving him a reassuring look towards the henchman as he continued “Who do you work for? And what use do you or your boss need from the young child?”
Mason only gave him a glaring look, breathing heavily through his nostrils and tasting his own blood inside his mouth. A moment later, the henchman found the strength to talk between breaths.
“I work for Darby Sabini… and that little brat there is his lost property.”
“And why does he need her? What’s so important about a random child that he has so much interest in?” Said the Shelby pressured on bending his knees almost at the same height as Mason, the blue-eyed man wanting more information from the henchman.
“Why should it fucking matter to you gypsy people? She is none of your goddamn concern. I have to send her to Sabini and that’s all you’re going to get out of me. So fuck you all,” said the henchman while shrugging against Johns and Arthur’s grips, but they hold him still.
The third nameless Shelby nodded his head as he stood up on his feet. Then suddenly, without Mason realizing the crystal blue eye man took his gun out and knocked out the henchman with the back of his weapon. Seeing the conscious man fall hard onto the floor.
“Right then. John take him to the docks, make sure Johnny Dog and the others have him well hidden and secured. And take the body far away from here. This man will be with us for a while. I have a feeling there is more to this. Now go,” the Shelby brother instructed John, nodded his head and snapped his fingers at the other men from the group.
Once John and his men took away Mason away from The Garrison, the onlookers resumed back to whatever they were doing. Pretending that they didn’t see what the Shelby brothers did. Elena stood there quietly, trying to understand what just happened, but she now knows that Sabini sent his henchmen out. Seeing that there was no escaping from hiding from the Italian devil.
“Oí what should we do about the girl, Mr. Shelby?” Asked the bartender, pointing a finger in Elena’s direction.
“Don’t you worry about her, Harry, I’ll take care of the child. You go back inside and I’ll see you soon,” said the unnamed Shelby, gently placing a hand on the man’s left shoulder.
Harry nodded back in agreement as he made his way back inside the tavern. Elena was busy seeing Arthur and three more men carrying Liam’s body away to god knows where. Feeling overly and mentally exhausted from watching too many people killed at this point in her life. She didn’t realize the blue-eyed man’s presence, so she just jumped back, trying to not make eye contact with the tall man.
“Don’t be frightened little one, you’re safe now,” he said calmingly, reassuring Elena as best as he could, hoping he is not making her feel uncomfortable.
She was petting Cyril on top of his head. Elena stood quiet for a moment or so until she finally had the courage to talk to the man he basically saved her.
“Are you going to take me to the dangerous man, just like them?” She questioned the Shelby brother, which made a confused look.
“No, of course not. I am not one of them,” he said, kneeling down next to Elena as he continued, “We are not here to harm you, sweetheart. I want to understand why they were capturing you. And for a little girl your age, are you out here all on your own with your dog?”
“His name is Cyril and… I… I don’t know if I should tell you why we are here. What if you are lying to me?” said Elena shyly, being more cautious and remembering what Jovonka told her about encountering people.
The man understood the little girl completely. If he was her age, he would feel the same way.
“If you feel like not telling me, it’s alright. But right now, you’re not safe out here. Come, I’ll take you to a more secure place where you’ll be more comfortable,” the blue-eyed man said, standing up in his feet extending his hand to Elena, while she just looked at his hand to his eyes, “I promise you I will not hurt you.”
Elena was hesitant for a moment if she should take the man’s hand or not. But deep down in her gut, she felt he could be telling the truth about him not harming her. But seeing that running away again, there could be another chance Sabini’s men will come and look for her no matter where she went. And so Elena finally took a hold of his large hand while still hugging Cyril’s neck with her left arm.
“What’s your name sir?” Elena then asked while they walked down another pathway towards a car waiting for them up ahead.
“My name is Thomas darling, and you don’t have to call me sir, yes?” He said, giving her a warm smile, which she returned the gesture and nodded her head in reply.
And so Elena, Thomas, and Cyril made their way inside the car, where Thomas knew where the girl would be safe and out of danger.

The Disability Library
I love books, I love literature, and I love this blog, but it's only been recently that I've really been given the option to explore disabled literature, and I hate that. When I was a kid, all I wanted was to be able to read about characters like me, and now as an adult, all I want is to be able to read a book that takes us seriously.
And so, friends, Romans, countrymen, I present, a special disability and chronic illness booklist, compiled by myself and through the contributions of wonderful members from this site!
As always, if there are any at all that you want me to add, please just say. I'm always looking for more!

John Lennon's collage "for" Paul
I was very curious about the collage image going around tumblr (e.g., here, here, and here) that was identified as being made "for Paul" and titled "I Only Have Eyes for You", and done by John Lennon "at art school". Here it is; I scanned this from Julian Lennon's book Beatles Memorabilia: The Julian Lennon Collection (by Brian Southall and Julian Lennon, 2010)
You can see that Paul has written at the bottom "J.L. Collage - To Julian - love Paul x".
The book caption reads
A distinct and original collage of faces and bodies dedicated to Julian from Paul. It was created by John and given to Paul.
But the first time this previously unseen collage surfaced was in 2000. It was included in a show held by artist Peter Blake at the Tate Liverpool, called About Collage.
An article in The Independent at the time says
A John Lennon collage never seen in public is to feature in an exhibition that opens 30 years ago to the day the Beatles split... Lennon's collage, done at art school in the 1950s, comprises faces and figures cut from magazines, and features a number of eyes and lips pasted on images of girls. Blake said: "The style tied in with my Sgt Pepper's album cover, which was simply a more organised version, with bigger heads." Natalie Rudd, who helped curate the exhibition, said: "No one really knows much about Lennon's collage. … It has no title and is rather dark, with a lot of black and red and we can only guess at what he was trying to say."
In this 2009 Guardian article, Blake says,
By then I knew that Paul McCartney owned a collage that John Lennon had done, so I borrowed that. Paul also made a sound collage of Liverpool, and he made an artwork too.
Another quote from Eye Magazine in 2000:
He hopes to borrow an unseen art school collage by John Lennon, owned by Paul McCartney.
There was a book produced to accompany the show, called Peter Blake: About Collage (2000). The collage is reproduced in the book:
The credit reads "John Lennon 1940-1980, Untitled, late 1950s, Paper collage, 970 x 675mm, Private Collection". It does not have the handwritten note by Paul at the bottom.
Peter Blake's comments say:
I have followed Paul McCartney's career as an artist, so when About Collage emerged, I suggested that he made a collage, perhaps from sound, which he has pursued. John Lennon made a collage at art school during the late 1950s which is included in the show.
Paul did make a sound collage for the show, and released it as an album called Liverpool Sound Collage; some of it is on YouTube. (There used to be a website for it, long gone now, but you can see bits of it at the Internet Archive). Here's his artwork, titled The World, mentioned by Blake above (the central image is a back and white photo of Jerry Lewis):
So, to summarize:
The collage does NOT have an official title. I don't know where the "I Only Have Eyes for You" title came from
It's not clear that the collage was made for Paul specifically, only that it was given to Paul, date unknown
It's not clear if the collage Paul gave to Julian is the original or a copy
It seems unlikely that it was made at art school, as some of the images are of women in classically mid-1960s clothes and hairstyles. The only source for the date of composition seems to be Paul
It's not stated who gave the collage to Paul - it might have been John, but it could easily have been Julia or Yoko (or even Cyn?)
Paul's artwork was NOT made for John
PS. I looked through the book Paul McCartney: Paintings but the collage isn't mentioned.
PPS. I tried doing some image searches on the clearer photos of women in the collage, but got no results. Perhaps someone else will have better luck.

on not being able to save those you love, even from themselves
“I've been inside his head. That guy's a piece of shit.”
“It doesn't matter. I-I don't want to be someone who leaves people behind. I want to be someone who saves his family. And for better or worse... he's family.”

{Rocky (My medic oc), Ghost, Soap and Gaz are playing poker and somehow get on the subject of death and how many would classify as a disaster.]
Rocky: Nah, five deaths is not a disaster.
*Ghost nods agreeing with her*
Gaz: How many deaths is a disaster?
Ghost: More than five. Five's bullshit.
Soap: How many?
Rocky: 16 to 20, disaster. 21 and up, catastrophe. 8 to 15 is a calamity.

Olivia’s life changed completely after she found out that she’s pregnant. She tried to work hard in New York despite the fact that she was growing a new life inside of her. After a month, she decided to take a break. She couldn’t be much of a help in her state. First week of being at home and doing completely was fun but she got bored very quickly. Her friends tried to convinced her to reach out to John and tell him about the situation but she was too stubborn.
John was still going through rehabilitation. He was slowly coming back to his strength and couldn’t wait to have a debut with Utah Hockey Club. He felt like his life is coming back again on right tracks. Well, that was a lie. He missed Olivia badly, but he didn’t want to bother her. He was aware that it was his decision to break up. He still had her engagement ring in the apartment. Maybe they weren’t together but he could feel her presence thanks to this item.
Olivia went to another ultrasound. Today was the day when she finally found out what gender has her and John’s kid. To her surprise, she has learned she’s expecting twins. Two girls. She cried at this news. Olivia knew she won’t be able to make it by herself with two kids. In that moment she knew that she has to share this information with John. Will he be mad at her for keeping this from him? Would he even pick up the phone? She pushed the thoughts and called him when she got back home.
“Hi John”. She said not trusting her voice.
“Oh, hi Liv”. He was still using her nickname, this has felt so natural to him.
“I need to tell you something but promise me, you won’t get mad at me”.
“Okay…” He was confused.
“I… I’m pregnant or more likely we’re pregnant. I’m 20 weeks pregnant and we’re gonna have two girls”. John stayed quiet for a minute before she spoke again.
“Please say something”. Olivia started crying. She knew it was bad call.
“I don’t really know what to say. I haven’t expected this news”.
“Look, if you don’t want to have to do anything with them…” Before she could finished, he said.
“That’s not what I said. Did you really think I’ll let you be by yourself with this? I just don’t know how to react. I mean, I’m delighted but we’re far away from each other. You are in New York and I’m in Salt Lake City”. He said.
“If it’s not a problem for you, I can move to Salt Lake City. My contract will expire before I gave a birth so I’m free”. Olivia felt bad for even proposing this but she knew it’s the best for the kids.
“Yeah, sure. Umm, do you need help with moving here? I’m still in rehabilitation so I can ask coach for free week and explain him the situation”. He proposed.
“I don’t want to make you problems, especially since you had back injury”.
“Let me help you… Please”.
“Okay”. She said softly.
“Start packing and I’ll be as fast as I can. Be careful and don’t lift heavy things”.
“Understood. Also, thank you Johnny”. He haven’t said anything back, just smiled when he hanged up.
Months went by. Olivia was eight months pregnant now. John was more than supportive to her. It was tough after he came back on the ice but he tried his best. He went to every ultrasound with her and was taking care of everything. Still, they were only friends. None of them brought up the conversation about being back together. All of it felt so natural and they didn’t wanted to ruin it.
Unexpectedly, Olivia was started giving birth two weeks before the due date. John was in different state in that time. She called him and he tried to be as fast as possible with her. Unfortunately, he missed the birth but he was there with her to choose the names. Olivia and John decided to name their daughters Elena and Natalie. Real problem started when nurse asked for the last name.
“I know that we are not together but I would love the girls to have my last name”. John said.
“But I want them to have my last name”. Olivia responded.
“They should have their father’s last name”.
“Says who?”
“Says almost everyone”.
“Johnny, you said that we are not together so I think they can have my last name”.
“What if we get back together?” He asked.
“What? You can’t be serious right now”.
“I am. Liv, I love you and I would love to be back with you. I never brought this conversation because I was the one who ended up things between us but I’m willing to have this talk now”.
“Oh thank God!” She said.
“What does it supposed to mean?” He asked confused.
“It means that I still love you and would love to try again”. He smiled widely at her words.
“Can we come back to the part where you are my fiancée or do I have to propose again?”
“You don’t have to propose again”. She laughed.
“So, girls are taking my last name right?”
“Only if I can take it too”.
“With pleasure”. John leaned down and kissed Olivia. The kiss was full of emotion but also beginning of a new chapter.
Year later, Olivia and John were already married. She never returned to work. She decided to sacrifice her life to raise their two daughters. Although, it wasn’t the only reason why she haven’t came back to work or even searched for one. The real reason was fact that she was again pregnant. This time with John by her side through all the journey. When they found out gender of their third child, he cried. The couple were expecting a boy. All pregnancy went smoothly and after nine months, they welcomed Callum to the world.
Their relationship wasn’t the easiest one but they were definitely soulmates. From unexpected meeting in one of the bars in Pittsburgh and living together because of covid. Later to moving on to New Jersey and proposal. Thereafter to long distance relationship and break up. Just to end up together because of the miracle of pregnancy.
John and Olivia never been happier.
