there is nothing on earth that i hate more than woke feminism. makes my blood boil actually! i also hate how terfs and radfems are so intrinsically linked. i don't want to hear anything about 'oh well if you're a radfem you MUST be transphobic they're the same thing!!' they are not! that's why the term 'trans exclusionary radical feminist' exists. because regular radical feminists are not trans exclusionary. however pointing out the differences between trans issues and cis issues is 100% important to radical feminism. just because we're acknowledging that trans women do not face all of the same issues as cis women do does not mean trans women aren't women. for example, there are certain experiences i will never face as a white woman - i can empathize and do my best to listen to my peers - but i will never fully understand the things women of colour are put through, because i am not one. however just because we haven't had the exact same experiences as eachother does not make either of us 'less of a woman' than the other. trans women will never go through certain experiences that cis women do and it is important for us to talk about that. however, we still share a lot of the same issues and pretending like we both go through life experiencing the exact same biases is willfully ignorant.

not to mention!! being a woman is not just about the suffering we go through. and terfs that claim trans women aren't real women clearly view the idea of womanhood as nothing more than an inconvenience when at the end of the day it's truly a beautiful thing.

Emmanuel Macron and Olaf Scholz still seem very interested in avoiding an escalation with Russia, but on Tuesday, May 28, they both took a new step in their military support for Ukraine. On the occasion of a council of Franco-German ministers, the French head of state agreed for the first time to authorize Kiev to attack military targets on Russian territory, with French missiles, while the German Chancellor made a more cautious but new opening on the issue.

“We must allow [Ukrainians] to neutralize the military sites from which missiles are fired, the military sites from which Ukraine is attacked,” Emmanuel Macron said during a press conference at Meseberg Castle, near Berlin, on the last day of his state visit to Germany. "But we should not allow other targets in Russia to be hit and, obviously, civilian capabilities," he said. "What has changed is that Russia has adapted its practices a little," justified the French president, noting, with support maps, that he is bombing the city of Kharkiv and its surroundings from its soil and no longer from the occupied territories: "If we say [to the Ukrainians] "you do not have the right to get to the point from where the missiles are fired," in fact, we say to them "we are handing them weapons, but you cannot defend yourself".

France and the United Kingdom provided Ukraine with SCALP-EG/Storm Shadow cruise missiles during the summer of 2023. The Franco-British weapon was developed in the 1990s by Matra and British Aerospace and is now manufactured by the European missile manufacturer MBDA. The SCALP-EG/Storm Shadow cruise missile has a maximum range of 560 kilometers (350 miles), but the exported models delivered are modified to operate at a reduced range of 250 kilometers (155 miles).

Germany still refuses to deliver its long-range Taurus missiles to Kiev, but Olaf Scholz opened the door to tanks transferred by Berlin forward to reach Russian territory. “Ukraine has every possibility to do this, under international law,” he said. For this, the Ukrainian military converted an ultralight Aeroprakt A-22 Foxbat aircraft, with a range of about 1,100 km (684 miles), to be controlled remotely and equipped with an explosive charge. It is not clear from where the aircraft was launched and if it was modified to increase its range.

Schlein, che proviene dal movimento pacifista, è al centro di questa contesa geopolitica e deve dimostrare di essere una leader. Meloni ha già superato la prova. Quella di Schlein è resa ardua dalla presenza dietro le quinte di Gentiloni, super-falco della Commissione europea, al punto che si parla di lui come presidente del Pd al posto di Bonaccini per rafforzare la componente guerrafondaia contro quella pacifista. Gentiloni non ha smentito la notizia. Vorrebbe diventare presidente della Repubblica. Per accreditarsi, deve dimostrare di essere pronto a calpestare gli interessi nazionali dell’Italia per curare quelli di Biden.

I just read a slide from TikTok on Andrea dworkin's book “pornography” and it includes a line about boys being SAed by men without being homophobic or using MRA logic, which reminded me of your answer about men of color, male children, and queer men being feminized or being seen as subordinates. I don't have the book, but do you remember what else she said in that book?

The bulk of it centers around how women are depicted in porn and how this relates to hegemonic ideas of sexuality. She also touches upon how racialized men are hyper-masculinized and seen as brutes, and how gay male pornography still centers around male supremacy.

The manhood act is a mask you wear to keep you safe from other masked men, to keep you safe from their judgment on how well you have your manhood act together, and to keep you safe from getting hurt by them.

The US should store nuclear weapons in Poland, says report

Some U.S. nuclear bombs positioned in European countries such as Germany, Italy and the Netherlands should be transferred to Poland, which wants to participate in NATO's nuclear task-sharing mission, argues a new report.

Although parking such weapons in Western Europe made sense during the Cold War, adding Poland to the mix would adapt the alliance's nuclear strategy to current threats, the conservative Think tank Heritage Foundation said in its report, published last week.

The enlargement of NATO to the east, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, means that allied fighter planes carrying nuclear gravity bombs would have to travel further to hit enemy targets.

“If such distances require a fighter-bomber to perform an air refueling before hitting a target, both the fighter-bomber and the refueler may be vulnerable to long-range enemy air defenses,” the authors of the report said.

The reflection group's report comes in the midst of a public effort by Poland to be incorporated into NATO's nuclear task-sharing mission. In June, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki announced that Warsaw intended to join the initiative, which would require the approval of the allies.

“Due to the fact that Russia intends to install tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus, we ask the entire NATO even more to participate in the nuclear sharing program,” Morawiecki said in a statement on June 30. "We don't want to sit with our arms crossed while (Russian President Vladimir) Putin increases a different kind of threat."

It is not yet clear whether the US is willing to seriously consider the idea. After Poland's request, U.S. National Security Council spokesman John Kirby told journalists: "I have nothing to say about any conversations of this kind."

Any such changes to the NATO nuclear agreement would increase tensions with Russia, which would consider nuclear weapons in Poland an escalation.

But the very noise of Russia's nuclear saber and the apparent plan to position part of its nuclear arsenal in Belarus justify a NATO countermeasure, the Heritage Foundation said.

Doing so would “assure NATO allies closest to Russia that the arsenal remains credible and effective; and better deter Russian aggression, increasing the relevance of nuclear deterrence,” the report states.

The NATO nuclear mission involves U.S. tactical bombs that allied fighter pilots would drop if a conventional conflict turned into an atomic conflict.

Tactical weapons provide a lower explosive yield than more advanced strategic nuclear weapons, which are launched through long-range bombers, ground-based intercontinental ballistic missiles and submarine-launched missiles.

In theory, tactical nuclear weapons could be used for a more limited attack, resulting in a less widespread radioactive precipitation than that produced by their strategic counterparts.

Although the US does not publicly discuss where its tactical bombs are stored in Europe, surveillance groups reported that about 100 are stored on six bases in five NATO member countries: Belgium, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Turkey. A NATO document inadvertently released and then deleted in 2019 listed the same locations.

In addition to deterring Russian nuclear aggression, NATO's nuclear task-sharing agreement is intended to assure allies that the U.S. nuclear guarantee is credible and that the attack mission is a responsibility assumed by the alliance as a whole.

“All this is done, in part, by providing a visible geographical distribution and a demonstration of NATO's nuclear capabilities,” the Heritage Foundation report said, arguing that bringing these capabilities closer to Russia strengthens the credibility of the alliance.

The presence of U.S. nuclear weapons has been a point of political contention in some of the countries that host them.

For example, a 2020 YouGov poll concluded that 74% of Italians, 58% of Dutch and 83% of Germans wanted nuclear weapons outside their territory.

Although the large-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russia in 2022 may have softened this position, there is a long history of anti-nuclear sentiment in these countries.

If an ally in the future asks the United States to withdraw its nuclear weapons, having Poland in the mix would be a risk mitigation measure, the report states.
