Wednesday 100: Kin and Kind

Joanie says it first, a mumbled "g'night, Da" after he’s carried her upstairs. Marsali is more sparing, giving the "thank you, Daddy!" whenever he allows her to join him at Lallybroch a particular shine.

A protectiveness rises in him when he hears those names, a reminder of the love grown for these girls and the purpose they have given him in caring for them. Yet he cannot help but think that he imagined different children calling him father — curly-haired weans whose voices, mixed Scots and English, he will never hear.

As ever, there is so much bitter amidst the sweet.

i realized just now that joan and michael never contacted jamie and claire to tell them about what happened??? or they did and i just don’t remember?? because i don’t think they did

that’s so… 🫠 convenient? to not deal with that storyline in a deeper level

all they needed was a quick note saying “oh i think you guys would like to know that this random guy kidnapped joan because he thought she was claire’s daughter and then there was this other weird guy that showed up there and then they started talking weird shit until they both disappeared into thin air right in front of our eyes. btw we are both ok now”
