Ooh will you pls walk us through your perfume/body wash/lotion collection?

fun fact i actually use gentle/unscented body products so all of my body wash/soaps/lotions/etc are not (or are negligibly) fragranced! my derm put the fear of god into me abt how it can irritate your skin, and since switching years ago i just haven't gone back! i like that it makes whatever fragrance i'm wearing smell cleaner and less muddied too. (my shampoo/conditioner/other hair product is fragranced so that still has a scent, so does my deodorant, and my laundry detergent. w that many scents happening on a regular basis i feel like there's rly no need for scented body cleansers imho.)

This month last year, 𝙅𝙤 𝙈𝙖𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙇𝙤𝙣𝙙𝙤𝙣's wonderful Cypress & Grapevine film/ad was filmed in London with 𝗧𝗼𝗺 and which his father was a part of 😍❤️‍🔥

By the way, there in your countries do they do like here in Spain that they broadcast fragrance ads on TV when we are in special occasions like 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐦𝐚𝐬, 𝐅𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫'𝐬 or 𝐌𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫'𝐬 𝐃𝐚𝐲, 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐞'𝐬 𝐃𝐚𝐲, etc.? 🤔

I was waiting all 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐦𝐚𝐬 for them to broadcast it and they didn't do it but they repeated other ads over and over again... 😅

Durante este mes, el año pasado, se rodó en Londres la maravillosa película/anuncio de Cypress & Grapevine de 𝙅𝙤 𝙈𝙖𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙇𝙤𝙣𝙙𝙤𝙣 con 𝗧𝗼𝗺 y en el cual su padre formó parte 😍❤️‍🔥

Por cierto, ¿allí en vuestros países hacen como aquí en España que emiten anuncios en TV de colonias cuando se acercan ocasiones especiales como 𝐍𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐝, 𝐃í𝐚 𝐝𝐞𝐥 𝐏𝐚𝐝𝐫𝐞 o 𝐝𝐞 𝐥𝐚 𝐌𝐚𝐝𝐫𝐞, 𝐒𝐚𝐧 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭í𝐧, etc.? 🤔

ATEEZ SMALL PERFUME REVIEW: JO MALONE — EARL GREY & CUCUMBER

disclaimer: this is not meant to be a serious perfume review, this is something fun for me to do as I love perfume. each and every one of us have different tastes and preferences when it comes to fragrances. what works for me might not work for you vice versa. I’ll try my best to describe the scents but I will always suggest to go and smell them yourself before purchase. if you want to try these perfumes, please test or get a sample before committing to the bottle.

my scent experience:

it opens very fresh with the cucumber but it’s not citrusy which is what I expected as the top note is bergamot. the dry down is very fresh and aromatic, and I like that the cucumber shines in this perfume. I can’t really smell the earl grey tea element in this fragrance which is a shame because I do like earl grey tea (one of my fave teas). I also can’t really smell the beeswax in this which could add a sweeter twist in this fragrance. to me, this smells like the cucumber slices you would get at a spa.

the longevity is not there, with this being a Jo Malone perfume and fresh fragrances not lasting as long on me as other perfumes, I wasn’t expecting great results. projection isn’t there for me either which I’m not surprised about.

additional notes from me:

the first encounter I’ve had with this particular scent was my cousin buying this perfume at duty free hours before our flight. I don’t remember smelling it at the time but I do remember telling myself if I were to purchase a Jo Malone perfume I would get Nectarine Blossom & Honey. turns out I’m a Blackberry & Bay girl. this scent doesn’t come in a small bottle anymore, at least where I live they don’t have that available and I don’t think I’m someone who would purchase a 100ml bottle.

who would I recommend this to?

anyone who likes fresh and aromatic fragrances.

those who want a clean scent that is easy to throw on throughout the day.

anyone who wants to try out Jo Malone fragrances.

Bedtime scents last week-I actually have no idea what day/week/month/year we're on, I need back to normality after Christmas! L to R (and two nights without); Flower Knows Forever Blooming Flower EDT (Moonlight Mermaid Series), Dior Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet EDT, Anna Sui Lucky Wish (Secret Wish) EDT, Anna Sui Fantasia EDT and Jo Malone Ginger Biscuit Cologne.

Also I know I'm mega, mega behind on my perfume/LOTD posts (literally months), but there's only so much I can do at the moment and the shoe and advent posts took priority last year. I'm still documenting everything, I just need time to sort through it all. I'll get to it, I promise!

Évidemment, ce n’était pas prévu, mais je suis tombée sur une boutique Jo Malone, et je suis entrée, car en France ça ne m’est jamais arrivé. Évidemment, j’ai demandé, au hasard, au pif, pourrait-on dire, à sentir Silver Birch & Lavender, parce que j’aime ces arbres argentés. Je n’avais aucune idée de leur odeur. Mais encore une fois, on joue, en parfum, avec les fantasmes, les associations d’idées. Les bouleaux argentés… déjà je rêvasse.

La dame me tend la touche, et immédiatement, quelque chose se passe. Quelque chose de vibrant. Quelque chose difficile à définir car j’ai la tête dans les arbres, je visualise des écorces argentées, la neige de la taïga peut-être, et pourtant c’est comme un zeste pétillant qui éveille mes sens…forcément, c’est du pamplemousse ! (J’aime souvent l’amertume joyeuse du pamplemousse dans les parfums) mais là, je ne m’y attendais pas du tout, et dans mon cerveau, ça se combine avec la taïga, c’est n’importe quoi je le sais, mais c’est ce qui se produit et qui donne un effet magique au parfum : comme s’il était vibrant, comme une petite fusée qui réveille mon nez. Ensuite, très vite, la lavande, que j’adore dans les jardins mais généralement moins en parfum, arrive, avec son côté enveloppant et légèrement sucré, et elle se combine à la perfection avec le pamplemousse. Elle est à peine reconnaissable à dire vrai, comme un souvenir de lavande, juste un élément qui leste la fusée, la rend plus familière, tendre, mauve. Enfin, on sent le bois qui arrive, qui est identifié par la marque comme du chêne. Je ne l’aurais pas reconnu sans le lire.

En réalité ce bois me fait penser à l’odeur de l’encre. Quelque chose de très profond, de très intense qui finit de rendre le parfum totalement équilibré, entre fraîcheur fruitée et aérienne et odeur terrienne, presque métallique, entre le végétal et le minéral. Un parfum faussement rafraîchissant je dirais, loin du côté policé de la lavande des grands-mères, un parfum élégant et très original.

Ce parfum a été créé en 2020, et je suis bien contente qu’il ait été poursuivi, et qu’il soit désormais dans leur gamme permanente. Je sens qu’il est un compagnon qui va durer. Chanceuse d’être tombée dessus aussi, juste guidée par un nom, des images préconçues, complètement déformées dès que je l’ai senti. Je pense qu’il peut être porté en toutes saisons. On peut aimer sa fraîcheur en été, mais aussi sa profondeur enveloppante en hiver. Une vraie réussite de Jo Malone. Chez eux, c’est mon troisième coup de foudre après les très différents White Jasmine & Mint et Wild Bluebell.

weird ask but what. do the arakawa family smell like. like what perfumes do they use/do they stink of cigarettes/etc.

arakawa = the scent of cigarette smoke and bourbon does well to equalize the profile of oud wood, not allowing the sweet smell to overpower his mysterious profile. whatever does seep through, you're more likely to catch the more woody, tangy notes- though people who stay around long enough recognize that sweet, nutmeg smell first

sawashiro = legally have to say he smells like a smokey leather couch cause of his 2019 outfit and for the occasional cig or two he'll have BUT as for colognes, definitely something akin to masato where it's more on the down-low as far as scent impressions go. unlike masato though, it's nothing superbly complex and isn't trying to invite anyone to stay and compliment the profile. besides the leather, theres a deep, earthy smell- but stay around long enough, and you might catch a speck of rose

ichiban = definitely tried to find a dupe for arakawa's cologne, though our boy's on a budget: cause'a that, he's got a preference for more woody colognes, wearing a sweet patchouli cologne that possesses an undertone of orange. luckily, the help of cigarette smoke and shea butter helps dilute the potency of his cologne

masato = definitely isn't shy about buying something pricey, and there's payoff for it. leans towards more extravagant fragrances, a castoreum and leather blend being his usual wear. his cologne isn't overly strong, yet it's present enough to make you want to linger to catch it. the only one on this list to not smell like smoke in the slightest

aoki = wears abundantly brighter and more inviting colognes. opposed to harsh, mysterious smells he'll wear the likes of cedarwood. there's still notes of leather to his profile, though. it's just barely masked by the cedar

mitsu = if we're talkin' the 90's, then nothing especially of note. doesn't care too much about colognes (or can even really afford anything especially nice), and he doesn't pay any real attention to deo and body/hair wash scents. legally has to smell a bit of cigarette smoke on account of hangin with people who smoke, but i couldnt tell you if he smokes himself or not. fast forward to 2019, something about him's telling me he'd wear some kind of aquatic cologne- like sage and sea salt..

𝗧𝗼𝗺 was filming an ad today in London, he became the new face of 𝗝𝗼 𝗠𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗲's fragrance company... ONE OF MY DREAMS IS COMING TRUE, and I mentioned it recently in a post, I can't believe it 🤩💓 Finally 𝗧𝗼𝗺 filming a fragrance ad and we will see him often on TV and in stores 👏🏻🥺💖

I think he didn't expect to have to return to London in the middle of 𝑽𝒆𝒏𝒐𝒎 3 filming, I suppose that in the next few hours he will come to Spain again 😏

I'm so happy to see him well, I was very worried about him and his mouth 🙏🏻

𝗧𝗼𝗺 estuvo rodando hoy en Londres un anuncio, se convirtió en el nuevo rostro de la compañía de fragancias 𝗝𝗼 𝗠𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗲... ¡¡¡UNO DE MIS SUEÑOS SE ESTÁ HACIENDO REALIDAD, y lo comenté hace poco en una publicación, no lo puedo creer 🤩💓!!! Por fin 𝗧𝗼𝗺 haciendo un anuncio de colonia y le veremos a menudo en la televisión y en las tiendas 👏🏻🥺💖

Creo que no se esperaba tener que volver a Londres en pleno rodaje de 𝑽𝒆𝒏𝒐𝒎 3, supongo que en las próximas horas vendrá a España de nuevo 😏

Me alegra tanto verle bien, estaba muy preocupada por él y su boca 🙏🏻⠀⠀

my scent experience:

very clean, salty and aromatic. the base note of sage makes it smell herbal on me, almost like a spa. it’s pretty hard to explain what I’m smelling but it reminds me of aromatic body lotion hotels and spas would provide. the dry down is pretty musky and you could still smell the sage but it’s not as potent as it was in the beginning. to me, this smells like a hotel hobby during the warmer seasons.

Jo Malone fragrances are notorious for their poor longevity, I think because it’s a cologne and the concentration is weaker than an edt and edp. that being said, this perfume lasts about an hour on me before fading so it’s not ideal for anyone who wants a long-lasting fragrance. the projection is alright but it fades down to a skin scent which is safe for the work environment. also, this didn’t give me a headache.

additional notes from me:

ever since I started getting into perfume, I avoided Jo Malone as everyone and their mothers knew the poor longevity their fragrances have, especially for the price they’re charging. I personally think life is too short to worry about the longevity and if you’re willing to carry around a bottle and reapply every 2 hours, that’s awesome. I bought my first Jo Malone bottle a few years ago, and I don’t regret it but I will advise you to buy the smaller bottles. I think this brand is a good introduction for anyone looking into niche fragrances (are they considered niche?).

who would I recommend this to?

anyone who likes a clean yet aromatic scent.

those who don’t mind fragrances that don’t last long and are willing to reapply throughout the day.

anyone who wants to try out Jo Malone fragrances.
