Maybe it's because I do other things while listening to podcasts (can't just sit and listen and have quiet hands), but I didn't see JMart coming at all. And tbh...I'm not really here for it? I feel like things moved way too fast from Jon being ambivalent to Martin and thinking he's incompetent to "I love you and am conflicted over saving you or the world." Like, props to a m/m relationship front and center as well as an ace mc, but for me they lacked chemistry and there was too little buildup for the payoff to feel earned.

Hi! I think your posts are funny and I figured I'd just ask a random question:

Do you have a favorite ship, or a comfort ship you’re particularly fond of? Or a favorite fandom maybe?

I do! It changes periodically but I am a big fan of The Magnus Archives (and Magnus Protocol as it continues to come out)

I’m bit of a basic fan- Jon and Martin are my favorite pairing, jmart fluff just hits different

As someone who both recently found out I was acespec and got into tma, 2 things in this fandom bother me in regards to Jon's asexuality:

1) When non-ace people completely ignore Jon's asexuality in any way just because they're uncomfortable with portraying any ship with a nuanced sexuality

2) When non-ace people act like there is only one strict definition of aceness and that the only valid way to write ace characters is to make hate anything to do with sex

My favorite thing about jmart fics/art is specifically the fact that I get to see so many interpretations of Jon's aceness, repulsed, favorable, giving, receiving- it's even helped better identify myself. At the end of the day policing others sexualities (especially if you're not even a member of said community) just pisses me off, continue to make whatever the fuck you want

Speaking of fics, I barely read fics (unless it has Martin and his boobs in it) but my fave ace Jon depictions are literally all from Did. Sometimes, Jon would say something so painfully relatable I actually physically cringe (pos)

I was thinking if there's a ship of mine that would fit my favorite childhood tradicional song (?) (I have no idea what's the english word for cantiga de roda/ciranda): Se Essa Rua Fosse Minha (If This Street Was Mine) 'cause besides the nostalgia it is just a very beutifull and romantic song. And I got to the conclusion that it fits Jmart. At least for me. So I wanted opinions?

JMart was as healthy of a ship as it could’ve been considering the circumstances. Need I remind you all that they’d spent the past several years essentially trapped in a cult and both doing and going through some abhorrent shit, and in the end they were walking through literal hell. Not to mention the fact that they’re both people, people with flaws and issues and good and bad traits, people who have truly ungodly amounts of baggage to work through.

You don’t have to like the ship (hell it’s definitely not my favorite. It’s cute, but I don’t like the way most fics portray it) but the people see it as purely toxic or entirely perfect are just wrong. It’s a relationship between two people, and relationships are never perfect.

I don’t think this is a hot take. Hell, I hope this is an ice cold take, but it’s a take nonetheless.

(Also unrelated take but this fandom needs more Georgie/Melanie. It’s fucking adorable and really interesting and disgustingly underrepresented in the fandom.)

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Prooobably Hazy Days of December...I got a lot of people yelling at me for that one haha (even if I don't think it's too bad? It's open ended at least)

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Umm I'm not sure! I think most of my fics are happy endings...maybe Worth More Than All the Silence

8. Do you get hate on fics? I've gotten a few weird comments but I don't think I've ever gotten anything outright hateful

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? I've written a few fics but must of my smut stays in the Google docs. My asexual ass likes things more focused on the humorous lead up and/or kink than the actual sex part haha

Learning the Ropes — I originally started this for the RQ big bang in June and didn't make it to the deadline, so it felt like a big accomplishment to actually finish it. Plus I just really like delving into that era of canon and Jon and Martin's whole not-quite-dating shtick they have going on. And 2. Tongue to Teeth — I really love this fic and this au and I was noooot at all expecting the love for it I ended up getting on it. I love this silly au and I'm glad others do as well :,)

My first impression was that Jon Archivist was this super cool, super cursed, super star-crossed protagonist on a corruption arc a la Macbeth, going further and further down a dark path despite his best efforts. I now know I was incorrect and Jon Archivist is a miserable terrible pathetic little meow meow and the Ceaseless Watcher's most special guy. It loves him soooooooo so so much because he always keeps getting into terrible situations and somehow surviving on his own. to the point that when Daisy sees Jon in the Buried she outright says it. yaya
