There was indeed a hidden track on Face.

A secret song, one we weren't told about.

Letter.

The guitar folks, as usual, was no coincidence...

I fucking knew it.

He was playing Letter.

JK, he does things for a reason.

I just knew he didn't pick up that guitar just for the kick of it.

@jmdbjk I apologise for hijacking your post, but I love this, I really really do. You put this into words so beautifully.

And I agree with the take too.

There is one thing I think differently about, and that's what's beautiful about it all - it's up for interpretation.

I think the soft, bare and vulnerable and scarred is indeed early years JM. The JM that put his all out there for us. The JM that was hurt and scarred.

Then in the Hardware we have the JM that shut himself off, protected himself with the leather and prickles. The one that distanced himself from us to protect himself.

Also, have you noticed how in the hardware photos the pricks are on the left side of his face, while in the software photos the scars are on the right side of his face?

Is that him showing us the two sides of his face now? That if you put the right and the left together you will get JM today? The one that has the soft, open, vulnerable side, but also the prickly defensive side to him?

And I feel like there is more, that that is not the end.

I feel that this first pic we got is present JM.

The JM that is giving us FACE.

Notice how he is wearing a white top and black pants.

Today's JM, who is a combination of the two. Who has the soft but also the hard. Who wants to show us himself, but also has learnt how to protect himself more.

And why the room from the first clips? The software room. Perhaps because he's come to terms with that pain that was caused him when he was there?

So, the room is dark, the furniture covered, the sofa gone (that's something I'm wondering about - was that symbolising something that caused him pain so he removed it? Idk), and he's leaving it behind moving into the light. But again, it's not the soft JM, it's the one that is a combination of both soft and hard.

Oh, and walking into the light... optimistic? Although he's walking into the unknown, he still feels it's the right thing to do. We know what walking into the light represents.

That's my take.

Hard vs soft

I connected the dots! Not really, but here is one interpretation of what we’ve seen so far…

The words we’ve been given regarding the album concept are that the calm from within, feelings and experiences from within, reacted with external forces and like ripples in a pond, the repercussions vibrate outward becoming larger and larger circles that influence more and more things.

“Circle of resonance, reflection of vulnerable minds and unexposed wounds. Waves originated from the deepest invisible inner world, pass through the face on the surface and reach others to resonate while transmitting the inner voice. Wave spreads beautifully, finding its own flow despite wounds and distortions from a smallest scratch. The face of unwavering effort despite repeated fails and pain.” 

The white room of the software version is the place where Jimin started, light and comfortable, optimistic. He’s seated on a comfortable couch wearing a soft t-shirt and pants. All white and calm, all innocent, pure and perhaps naive. 

This is the space where he began, a comfortable place. All he’s ever wanted is to please us and to enjoy our time together. He’s given so much of himself.

And this is where he let his guard down, and consequently faced some challenges that were not easy. And in this space, he experienced hurt and pain resulting in scars. People took advantage of him here. Yes, I think that moistness in his eyes is vulnerability, hurt, pain. A “what have I done to you for this?” Challenges that needed to be worked through. 

And then we see the image of Jimin walking away apparently about to go through that door. This room that was once  bright white is now darkened. The large couch is no where and all we see are four chairs. He is leaving this behind. It’s the past, covered in dust cloths. He’s turned his back on it. His clothing has changed. White shirt, black pants.

Then there’s the video of Jimin coming around from the back into a different room, into a different space wearing a black leather outfit. The black leather represents a tougher, thicker skin. 

The leather is worn around the edges a little but supple and fitted to his body (I won’t mention the tight pants at this point, but omg look away… ahem).

Subsequently we see the thorns and the spikes growing out of his bare skin where there were once scars. Thorns, prickles, spikes are meant for protection. A reaction to being hurt, to protect from vulnerability. The new Jimin has emerged from these experiences.

“The face of unwavering effort despite repeated fails and pain.”

A defiant Jimin in both versions. A determined Jimin. A Jimin who doesn’t give up. 

He showed us the hard version first. His strength. Then he showed us the scars and vulnerability. Powerful images. His concepts are very thought provoking.

i thibk hannibal is what youd get if you mixed lestat and armand. on a surface level, hannibal fits the three B's: bisexual blonde bitch. he has a fondness for the opera, a hatred for the impolite, european, charming, and of course loved abigail and will completely and with his whole self, even if it didnt immediately appear that way or wasnt reciprocated. on the other hand, his evil js very seductive, he pursuades people to kill in a real loving and gentle way, in the same way that armand convinced daniel in s2ep5 to accept his death, they are both master manipulators and gaslighters, like when hannibal convinced will he was hallucinating gideon, and i cant stop thinking about the similarities between the hannigram fall at the end of s3 and armand throwing lestat from the tower at the end of tvl.

Jimin's choices

After reading Beyond the Story and learning more about the culture of Kpop, I think Jimin's promotions were exactly what he wanted. I'm talking specifically about the few weeks he spent making music show appearances. He walked the exact path debut-Bangtan walked in the beginning which were the music show performances, Music Bank, Inkagayo...achieving a first 1st place win on those music shows...and appearances on variety shows. Jimin actually won two 1st place wins.

To us OUTSIDE the Kpop world, it all seemed charming and yet expected that he'd want to perform on Korean music shows for K-Army. That was one of the primary reasons for going that route but at the same time he dutifully paid important homage to the expectations/standards embedded in Kpop culture in order to lay down that first stepping stone in his solo career.

At the time BTS debuted, companies were reluctant to keep spending money on producing a group if they did not show these progressive and specific steps.

Perhaps recalling the strong reactions from the kpop world to debut-BTS, Jimin was sensitive to those still waiting for a chance to criticize anything he did. Sometimes wounds leave lasting scars that still twinge now and then.

So Jimin paid his dues as a debut solo artist and gave a respectful and decisive nod to his Kpop idol roots. He earned a rightful place in the eyes of anyone in that industry.

The Billboard #1 was perhaps an unexpected win on top of all that. The #1's on all of the other charts: also extra on top. STILL dominating in his own country.

And now he's moving on. His next step will be bigger. He's coming for you AMAs, BBMAs, Grammys. I can feel it. Let's get it.

There are things that happened (or didn't happen as people wanted them to) surrounding Jimin's album. I am on board with that. But until Jimin says what went down himself, I won't be flying the "company mistreated him" flag. Mistakes? Yes. Incompetence? Perhaps. Shortsightedness? I definitely think so. Online streaming platform manipulation? Sure looks like it. Western music industry sabotage? Absolutely without a doubt. But his own label maliciously cutting him off? No.

Jimin is my bias and I want him to have everything he deserves and I am going to trust that he knows how to handle his own professional career and he does not need my intervention. If he's not happy with something, guess what? He can call Bang PD and tell him what's what. None of us can do that. Let Jimin handle it.
