kinda steven universe spoilers but i think this is a good theory srry

So i just watched most of the newest episode, Legs From Here to Homeworld and White Diamond’s sheer size got me thinking: if the murals on the Moon Base show how many colonies there are, how many do each of the Diamonds have respectively?

So, give or take a few planets that might be moons (it’s kinda hard to tell from the mural alone, but I did my best) these are the colonies that each Diamond ‘owns’

White Diamond: 14 planets, 20 moons, 34 total colonies

Yellow Diamond: 7 planets, 7 moons, 14 total colonies

Blue Diamond: 4 planets, 4 moons, 8 total colonies

Pink Diamond: 1 planet, 1 moon, 2 total colonies

Now i’m pretty sure that the Gem Homeworld empire is stated in the show to be absolutely massive, with colonies across multiple galaxies. But with a grand total of only 58 colonies and knowing JUST HOW POWERFUL the Diamonds are, it doesn’t really make sense why the entire empire, which has existed for literal eons as pointed out by multiple Gems on different occasions, would only have a mere 58 colonies. This is about as much work as i’m gonna do on this theory for now, so feel free to add on to this and speculate or whatever in the notes.
