Gojo, flowers and Hanami. Hana - 花 - flower. A brief blurb about what can be derived from that scene in Shibuya.
It is already well-known that Gojo felt there was a line between him and others; as a “creature”. He likened people (I don’t think it’s specifically just his students) to flowers, thinking that they would find it difficult to understand him.
To an extent, it is true. The gap in strength (and lived experience too) was just so vast, it’d be comparing a human to a flower.
You cannot expect someone to truly understand that something is if they don’t know it or haven’t experienced it. Empathy is difficult as it is amongst equal beings. How would someone know what it would be like to be restrained all the time because of how much power they wield? Or the taste of the intimate ugliness of humanity? Or what grief is if they do not know what love or loss is? Or the feeling of immense responsibility upon their shoulders?
Back to the topic on hand:
Hanami is one of the few beings we got to witness Gojo actually killing. He didn’t kill without a strong meaning, as per Geto’s parting words at Shinjuku. Hanami was not a human, no, but unlike Jogo, he was killed outright.
Tumblr media
Gojo was excited. Something clicked in him. We saw that scene and - phew, I got goosebumps. Yeah, on one level it is amazing animation. The otaku/fangirl in me was like 😱🤩 Gojo is so strong! We finally get to see him being a little animalistic, another side to him - it’s intriguing, interesting, almost sexy.
Tumblr media
And, we saw how manic and monstrous Gojo was when killing him - mercilessly. Even when knowing Jogo was trying to distract him to save Hanami (in the character book, the seiyuu/voice actor mentioned that Jogo had feelings for Hanami). So we understand Gojo had it in him - just like what he demonstrated 10 years ago in front of Toji the second time - earning him the comment, “you’re a monster!”
Let’s look at Hanami as a character. Hanami was loved by her allies. It is supposed to be an earth spirit - wanting to rid humans to save nature.
Tumblr media
Sounds a bit like themes from studio ghibli. But I digress.
Hanami as a character has a name that is made out of the kanji: 花御 - literally the honourable/noble/elegant flower.
Hana. Flower.
This brings me to my point… there is something subtly deliberate in why this scene was depicted as it was by Gege. Why, out of the many others, he made Gojo kill Hanami, with that name, in that monstrous way, with his infinity.
Tumblr media
The thing that separates him from others.
If Gojo had not learned how to connect to others beneath him and nuture flowers...
…he could have the capacity to crush them all. Gege showed us a possible scenario: if infinity between Gojo and others (Hana/flowers) was so vast, it’d be disastrous.
Like a monster. A monstrous being describe as a calamity like Sukuna ate humans.
Gojo would have trampled on them like ants.
Tumblr media
The jjk world was truly lucky he didn’t turn out like that, right?

Oh is that the JJK exhibit? Don’t mind if I do!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
No pictures inside except a few key photo spots.
But I did get to see prints with live pen dialogue for a lot of panels and images. So many screens showing the basic process of scribbles, background art and character art layers applied and developed.
Probably the coolest thing, in my opinion, was the acrylic layers of a scene split up. So you could lean down and look through all the line, background, dialogue, shading, and panel art. I’d love to see more of those!
Gege uses pen and paper to work out the rough sketches then CSP with their assistants to compile the final page. Plus, they all use 3D model posing in CSP to help arrange the bodies to make sure the anatomy works out correctly. Great use of analog and digital tech!
I couldn’t read most (almost all ^^;) of the Q&A and other panels, but the art was really cool to see. Even if my girl Shoko was basically missing.

Not a shonen fan at all, but credit where it’s due. This was a phenomenal episode that is an ode to the capabilities of this medium when everything is clicking. An artistic masterclass. Substantively, as usual I found it weak, but the animators deserve all the credit in the world for producing this with all the pressure and toxic work culture shit going on at MAPPA.

I fully hope they continue taking a stand for themselves and speaking out against their conditions. The content is amazing, but not worth it at the cost of their health and well-being.

i was wondering why kenjaku knew that gojo would freeze when he saw geto's body in shibuya. like it makes sense to us as viewers since we know gojo and geto were best friends. but then i remembered kenjaku gets the memories of the body he takes over, right? so he had geto's memories of being gojo's best friend. he used gojo's weakness (love).

I stopped reading the JJK manga right as Satoru made his entrance at Shibuya. I am so scared to continue. It has been a month, God give me strength to brave that gay fiasco.

I know at one point you mentioned that Rinko and company end up watching security tapes of Gojo fighting Jogo and Hanami (cuz everyone losing their mind over feral scary menace Gojo). Is that something you’re still planning on writing? I only just built up the courage to watch that episode lol.
Okay, but feral Gojo when he killed Hanami?? His laugh?? Bruh. Please just end me 🫠🫠🫠 because that scene did things to me. His expressions during that entire sequence are just 🥵 When he turns because he realizes that Hanami really was that stupid and he was so excited??? LIKE. AHHHHHH. I am deceased.
I would still like to have something that includes them at least discussing the recording of it because I feel like Gojo would get a huge kick out of seeing her reaction to it. Not positive yet, though! I'm kinda following wherever inspiration takes me 🙃

Momoko Hinokuma
Subject: explaining scale of matter
For anyone unaware I have a group of JJK ocs that have their own arc in the plot and expand the universe. To satiate the goblin in my brain I have decided to write out how their cursed techniques function, how op they are and how they function.
JJK DUDEBROS DNI (half joke)
Basic rundown
🧸 SOM is decently simple at first glance, but the longer you look at it the more complicated it gets
🧸 SOM let's its user affect the strength and weakness of matter around them.
🧸 SOM holds similar aspects to Utahimes since it can enhance other sorcerers cursed techniques
🧸 However, a key difference in what sets it apart are two key aspects.
🧸one, it can increase and decrease strength.
🧸and two, it can affect any form of matter
🧸the inspiration for SOM and Momko in general came from Epithet Erase and its main character Molly. Her ability letting her dumb down things around her.
🧸How SOM actually works is fairly simple. With a touch or a blast of energy, the user can delete or enhance parts of nature, a person's powerset or body, etc
More complex specifications
🧸SOM doesn't have adverse effects on the user. It doesn't use up much stamina and can be used for all manner of combat styles
🧸SOM' weakness actually stems from its mere existence. The power is potent enough to delete bits of its host if not used carefully.
🧸SOM is extremely rare as a cursed technique thanks to a lot of plot aspects, mainly because of Kiyoshi Fujiwara, but that's a whole other can of worms we can't deal with right now.
🧸Now, to give you an idea on SOM and how rare it is, I'll use comparison. It is nowhere near as rare as six eyes, yet it's still unnatural enough for a SOM user to be seen as suprising and sought after.
Momokos use of SOM
🧸Momoko who is the only currently known present day user of SOM mainly uses it for midrange attacks, short range is her weakness.
🧸she will most commonly use it to take away other people's cursed techniques for short periods of time before returning them
🧸Reducing the impact of any hit that's landed on her, so what would have originally been a devastating hit is now the equivalent of a flick on the wrist
🧸 its notable uses are most often seen in the culling games arc, however they are shown off a tiny bit in shibuya
🧸 Momokos ability directly clashes with one of Kiyoshis most powerful weapons making her integral when Kiyoshi reappears in Shibuya and sticks around
🧸Momoko doesn't use SOM to its full potential leading her to become excessively obsessed with improving after Shibuya for reasons I'm not explaining here
🧸🧸🧸
SOM and its role in the ongoing plot
🧸SOM is generally the muguffin of the side plot i created in JJK
🧸SOM being the one thing Kiyoshi seeks to eradicate more than anything else. (No I'm not elaborating in this post, I'm saving that BS for an entirely different post because my god...)

OP is kinda ass ngl the visuals slap but the song is not it.

Can’t lie though, even as a shonen/JJK hater this was a damn good episode. Loved the slice of life stuff and the general feeling of a calm before the storm. The split narrative of the kids going about their lives, hanging out, playing matchmaker, watching movies and just living contrasted with Geto and Mahito planning to uproot the order of the world was cool.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
No one knows just how much this world is going to change very soon.
Tumblr media
The mechamaru giant eva fight is also really cool.
Tumblr media
Won’t be doing weekly write ups on JJK cause y’all know how I feel about shonen, but this ep was so good I just had to give praise where praise is due.
ED song is a vibe just don’t think it fits the arc, but oh well.

i would let this man bang me so hard with no lube, no protection, all night, all day, from the kitchen door to the toilet seat, from the dining table to the bedroom, from the bathroom sink to the shower, from the front porch to the balcony, vertically, horizontally, quadratic, exponential, logarithmic, while I grasp for air, scream and huff, upside down on the floor, in the bed, on the couch, on the chair, being carried, against a wall, outside, in a train, on a plane, in a car, on the motorcycle, in the bed of a trunk, in a trampoline, in a bounce house, inside a pool, bent over, in the basement, against the window, having the most toe curling, toe clenching, back arching, legs shaking, fist clenching, muffled sounds, ear ringing, mouth drooling, nose drooling, ass clenching, nose sniffling, eye watering, can't take it anymore, legs divorcing and breaking in half, eye rolling, hip thrusting, earthquaking, fireworks, sheet gripping, knuckle cracking, jaw dropping, soul snatching, over stimulating, ovulating, vile, sloppy, heart wrenching, spine tingling, back breaking, atrocious, gushy, creamy, Beasley, devilishly, lip biting, gravity defying, nail biting, sweaty, feet kicking, mind blowing, body shivering, orgasmic, bone breaking, black hole cresting, devious, scrumptious, amazing, delightful, body numbing, can't walk, head nodding, volcano erupting, sweat rolling. Voice cracking, trembling, sheets soaked, hair drenched, skin peeling, pussy popping, back cuts, heavenly, devils tango, and still worth it.
