finished watching tourabu stage plays 6 & 7 (Jiden & Iden). These were very fun and very different from all the previous plays; Jiden for the hanamaru slice of life vibes and Iden for the simple fact it’s nearly an entire new team of swords with neither yamanbagiri or mikazuki as a focus

Jiden was very much needed after all the drama that took place in Hiden. It was much more chill and funny and it was nice the entire thing took place in the honmaru. I actually really liked this set up for the stage - there were so many levels to it. Kinda glad chougi’s event was only briefly touched upon in the beginning so that him arriving at the honmaru could be the main focus cuz I literally have no idea what his special investigation plot was anyway lol. tbh chougi’s release was probably one of the last things I was aware of when I started falling out of/falling behind in touken ranbu and I have yet to look up what any of those events are actually about. All the new music was great and just added to the fun and lighthearted vibes. ngl the ending song here rivals my favorite honnouji ending song it’s so good. Also the guy who played Gokotai deserves all the points because holy hell he nailed it. It was definitely fun to see a bunch of other swords that might not otherwise have reason to be part of the stage plotline - even if they are just there to make the honmaru more lively. Thoroughly impressed the actors who played Jirotachi and Tarotachi wielded those massive swords with ease, tho it probably helps they’re tall lol I definitely wish they could have more involvement in the future stages cuz they’re just too cool to only be in one. Also very satisfied with yamanbagiri vs yamanbagiri. This whole thing was just wholesome.

OH ALSO I HAD NO IDEA THEY HAD A DIFFERENT SWORD FOR EACH CITY THEY PERFORMED IN I’d been wondering why sayo, honebami, and fudo were all on the cover when only Kasen was in the play but then I checked out the last cd and was like OH. but also I’m glad Kasen’s was the one that became the official thing (it’s always the fukuoka performance that goes on dvd/bluray right?) because I had no idea how starved I was for starter sword interactions until kasen, mutsunokami, and manba had a moment together. It just doesn’t feel the same with the other swords. I’m excited for the siege of osaka stages cuz one of them has manba and kashuu together and I know kashuu has technically been around from the start cuz his name was mentioned briefly in honnouji (original tho, not the rerun) and it’s about damn time he appears in the stage versions. Hopefully one day all 4 will appear together ;3

also *slams fists on table* KIWAME MANBA WHEN???????? I’ve seen the trailers for the siege of osaka stages and does it actually take place BEFORE hiden???? Manba’s not kiwame yet and Mikazuki is in the second one :( I always just assumed manba never went on a kiwame journey and they got a new mikazuki instead but after watching Jiden I clearly assumed wrong.

Iden obviously takes place after both Hiden and Jiden tho. now, for both of these things, usually I just watch what I got blind and without fansubs just for first impressions and to see how well I can follow without knowing much japanese and then post about it immediately after and find subs later. but this time I had to rewatch iden with subs before I posted anything about it cuz there was just one thing that bothered me and I wanted to be wrong about my assumptions. truth is, even with subs, I’m still not entirely sure if my assumptions are right or wrong. either way I do not like the anomaly. at all. I do not like what it implies and I hope it stays as an abandoned world thing and has nothing to do with the main timeline, but unfortunately the answers will have to be revealed in future stage plays. Tho funny enough, even tho watching with subs made me like Hiden less, it actually made me like Iden more.

This stage play was quite fun, I loved the dynamic of this new team of swords. Once again it covers a special investigation event that I was not around for and had no idea happened - these swords are more or less very new to me so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect or even who their previous owners were but it was fun to find out as the play went on. Ryoma’s story is another one I’ve got quite a bit of knowledge on - I’m also quite a huge fan of the Taiga drama Ryomaden - so I was already very interested to see how this story would play out. I’m not entirely sure how much of the event is accurate or covered in this one tho as I mentioned I have yet to look these things up. I was both relieved and disappointed they didn’t really get to meet in the end, but it makes sense. I’m not the biggest fan of these kinds of enemies, and with the amount of messing with time that’s been going on I’m surprised Kebiishi haven’t been considered as an enemy to show up yet. like I mean it was acknowledged once for a brief moment in one of the previous stages I can’t remember which but it was quickly brushed aside as the HRA are always the main enemy. also THIS STAGE SET UP IS SO FUN I LOVE IT and the projector just adds to it gosh all the moving stage pieces this is definitely my favorite stage set up so far <3 also the op and ed were prerecorded this time which threw me off at first but with how much these actors are moving around in this one they’d definitely be out of breath to sing.

welp as much as I love and miss manba it’s been very refreshing to follow a storyline that doesn’t involve him, and I’m very much looking forward to the next stage plays :3

I started playing the English release of Touken Ranbu, and it's basically been Jirotachi carrying the team and protecting all the tantos... Vodka Mom ❤️

The new Touken Danshi appeared to take on a feminine form, not something uncommon for them. No. In fact, many of the blades had a certain femininity about them. However, it was the new blade’s body shape which appeared to be different from the rest, not that you could fully see it as the naginata wore a long cherry blossom pink kimono with a simple but flashy pattern. It was the bright apricot orange obi which was the eye catcher of the attire in its whole. Long thistle coloured hair tied into a low ponytail by a ruby red ribbon, long tassels adorning her face; a soft diamond shaped form with large expressive violet eyes. The new Touken Danshi aesthetically surely was a nice addition to the others. However, only time would tell how useful the naginata was.

Many of the blades were curious about the new addition to their growing army of blades, but the naginata was brought to the honmaru first where their master, the Saniwa, resided. Not a word was said when instructions were given to follow the forge master to meet their master. Hands hiding in the long kimono sleeves while following the other blade. It didn’t take long before they stood in front of the sliding door which let into the honmaru. Before entering, their arrival was announced and the new Touken Danshi was urged to meet with the master. The other blade stood ready outside of the room for further orders after the introduction was concluded. 

The naginata didn’t show much emotion and held a strict demeanor while gazing down the supposedly new master. A man… What a joke. Finally a few words were said, “ You’re not an onna-bugeisha, I, Hakuzenkou of the Taira clan, only serve strong women worthy of my grace.” The naginata’s sound was a medium feminine voice with a flat undertone. It was clear this new arrival was not a young blade but a seasoned one with high expectations. Clearly taking issues with serving men…

The news of the naginata's arrival was unexpected. The saniwa had been pacing back and forth, waiting for a team to come back from a sortie and worried if they were going to make it out okay.  Kebishii were getting more and more tenacious...more and more worrisome.  Still, the news that the smith had finished his newest Touken Danshi made him nod, walking to his seat and looking up with soft fondness while Kashuu stood at his side.  His first sword, and one who had trusted implicitly since he made his first unsure steps into the citadel.

They were beautiful, perhaps more feminine than even Midare and Jirotachi, both who were out on sortie, but frigid, clearly not happy with their first impression.  Onna-bugeisha... ah, a proud blade, this one, and he nodded slowly.  "Hakuzenzo-san...in any other circumstances I would be more than happy to refer you to a woman you would approve of."  He sighed, his own soft voice barely cutting through the tense air.  "I am sorry to say that for now, you may have to stay here in the citadel with us.  While I realize you don't recognize men, please understand that for the time being preferences may have to be shelved for the sake of our cause."  He did manage a smile for the other.

"At any rate, please make yourself at home.  I am sure we will have time to talk at a later time."

this isn’t otome but i wanted to write something for @honey-gokko because i can.  touken ranbu, jirotachi is lonely and finds his aruji for company.  ✨

jirotachi was lonely, his brother was called away for a mission, so he did what he did best and spent the afternoon with sake.  the citadel gardens were beautiful at this time of year, covered in snow, when it was still and he could see his breath on the air, but he wanted someone to share it with.  he’d been sitting there for an hour feeling sorry for himself before he decided to find some company, he stopped off by the kitchens to ‘borrow’ some sweets and an extra cup, and headed up to his aruji’s room.  he was about to announce himself when he saw her fast asleep over her desk, he smiled fondly at her and watched for a few minutes before lifting her over to her bed.  he lay her down and covered her with blankets, making sure she was comfortable and kissing her forehead.  he moved to stand and leave when her hand found his, pulling him down with her.  she was warm and he settled himself behind her with one arm resting over her waist and buried his face into the crook of her neck.  it wasn’t a bad way to spend the day, in the arms of one of his favourites.

TKRB Headcanons

It bothers Yagen that Atsushi is just a tiiiny bit taller than he is. Atsushi uses it to his advantage. Your typical sibling banter.

Hasebe gets hurt a lot. He usually gets hurt because he's trying to protect someone else in the unit.

Tarotachi drinks the most alcohol in the citadel, followed by Fudou, Jirotachi, then Nihongou.

Ichigo once nearly broke Sengo because he stripped Honebami.

Monoyoshi makes it his utter most goal to never be in the same room as Kikkou during his horny hours. Has worked 100% after his first unfortunate viewing.

The tantou, Urashima, Monoyoshi, and Chiganemaru have snowball fights every year.

Chougi and Daihannya are friends for absolutely no reason.

Uguisumaru acts as damage control unless it's Ookanehira. Then, he's the enabler.

Yamabushi and Doudanuki go to the mountains to train every morning. Occasionally, Tonbokiri will join them.

Nagasone snores.

Izuminokami once replaced Mutsunokami's gun for a water gun. He spent the entire day running away from the other uchigatana.

Saniwa’s Birthday Headcanons

Hello everyone!

I hope you guys are doing well! I am so so sorry that I have been unable to post anything for the past weeks or so. I have both good news and bad news. Good news is that I have now returned to college along side half a million other students in my province who had been affected. The only downside is that our school year is now compacted and I will only be able to have a week–maybe less–of holidays until we return to continue our semester.

Anyway, enough about me. I have written this head head cannon as a gift to those who will be celebrating their birthday in the next few days/weeks/month. Mine was just 2 days ago~

For once the Saniwa was allowed to sleep in a few more hours and was woken up by Shoukudaikiri and Taikogane who presented them breakfast in bed.

A few swords passing by would peek into their master’s bedroom to greet them both a good morning and a happy birthday.

It would be such a boisterous and lively morning but a smile would be plastered on the Saniwa’s face the whole day.

Younger-looking words such as Imanosturugi and Houchou would just walk in their master’s bedroom in the pretense of greeting them but are genuinely curious to see what the two other swords had prepared–at the same time hoping to get a bite of whatever their master was having.

Obviously the Sainwa would not mind sharing a few bites but Shokudaikiri would repremand his comrades who would be taking advantage of the situation.

All the swords would eventually be forced to leave their master’s room once Hasebe comes and shoos them out.

Secretly, Hasebe had initially prepared a speech about how blessed they were to have an amazing and kind master but seeing as their Aruji as still in their pj’s, he would hold off

Instead, he would just shortened his speech into less than a minute before letting them know that they would be waiting outside to accompany them for the day.

Once the Citadel’s master is dressed appropriately for the day, they would be immediately bombarded with hugs and greetings once more when they walk though the hallways.

The more openly affectionate charges such as Akita, Mutsunokami, Namazuo, Yamabushi and Iwatooshi are more likely to hug master happily as a greeting.

On the other hand, the more timid swords such as Maeda, Gokotai, and Tonbokiri would give their beloved Aruji a bright smile as well a small hand crafted gift like a ningyō (human Japanese paper dolls) that looked quite similar to their master

A few aloof swords such as Ookurikara, Honebami and  Oodenta would just stand nearby staring at their master before walking away–the ever faint traces of Sakura petals surrounding them indicating that they were in a good mood even if they were scowling.

Throughout the day, the Saniwa allowed visitors to come visit them in their office–happily letting whoever interrupt their paperwork much to Hasebe’s displeasure.

Small trinkets and ornaments are created by the Toushirous and Kunihiros and then presented to the master of the Citadel in which they graciously accepted.

A number of vases filled with various wild flowers were perched on the Saniwa’s desk and a few nearby tables were provided by the Samonji brothers.

Different books about poems, warfare, flower arrangement, and medicinal herbs in courtesy of Kasen, Doudanuki, Hachisuka and Yagen appeared in a small neat stack on desk.

And lastly, small bowl of Coffee Jelly was presented by Azuki as a snack

Later on in the evening, the Saniwa was presented with a few parcels by Horikawa, Daihannya and Hachisuka claiming that their master is invited to attend dinner in the Main Hall.

Packed in the boxes was a whole new outfit which consisted of a formal kimono, an obi, socks as well as a few accessories.

Shortly, Jirotachi, Kashuu and Midare entered their master’s room as they were struggling to change into the new clothes and  insist on assisting them in getting ready or else they would be late.

Once the Saniwa makes their way to the Main Hall, they are greeted by rather loud bang when they open the door, realizing that they had been covered with streamers and confetti

The smiling faces of her charges and a rather loud and lively ‘happy birthday’ rang through the room with Tsurumaru, Sohayanotsurugi, Kikkou’s faces being quite close to their master’s own–the first one, asking if they were genuinely surprised.

The master is then ushered to their seat and the swords surround them, singing happy birthday although a little off tune. Shortly after, dinner is immediately served.

Soon enough, Shokudaikiri alongside Azuki presents a rather modern type of dessert– Almond Honey Cake with Strawberry Ripple Cream Icing–earning them much admiration and awe from both the Saniwa and the other swords.

While dessert is being handed out, a group of swords announced that they had prepared something for their master.A small play had been devised–directed by Kasen and Daihannya–which composed of the Sanjou swords, the Genji brothers,  Kogarasumaru, Uguisumaru and a rather reluctant Ookanehira. Surprisingly, the swords have decided to adopt an old classic tale: Cinderella

The little play started out quite well until the next few minutes passed when it inched towards borderline chaotic

“Step sisters! I have a letter from the Royal Palace has arrived for you!” Kogitsunemaru exclaimed as he tried to push Mikazuki’s borrowed bandana over his head.

“Give it to me!” Hizamaru snatched the envelope from the fox’s hands but it was also immediately taken away his brother “Bro-Sister!”

“Ahaha~! I will be the one to open it!” Higekiri laughed but jolted when the letter was plucked out of his hands by Kogarasumaru

“Look! We are invited to the Prince’s ball at the Royal Palace!” The oldest Tachi hid his smile behind a fan. “Quick we must get you two dressed!!”

“I-I wish I can come along too…” The silver-haired Tachi wiped at the imaginative tears in the corner of his eyes with his sleeve.

“You? Come along to the ball?” Hizamaru smirked as he flipped his non-existent long hair rather vainly.

“You must be joking…” The elder brother dressed as the eldest sister covered his smirk behind a fan.

“You may come along…” The citadel’s eldest sword began as her began to walk out of the scenery. “…Once you finish all the internal affairs before we leave!”

“…I think the proper word is ‘chores.’…” someone commented in the back

“Hush!”

“Shhh!”

“Have a great night working, Cinderella!” Hizmaru taunted as the three walked out of the scenery.

As the scene began to pan over, everyone could hear the Genji bros. talking

A soft whisper of “Why are you following me? Who are you again?” was shortly heard from Higekiri caused Hizamaru to quickly run out of the room, covering his face wailing “How could you brother!?”

The acting swords continue on with their little play while the guests stared at the two siblings who were quickly running out of the room

Throughout the play, laughter escapes the Saniwa and the other swords as the actors acted and wore rather disney-esque clothing–no one knowing where they ever got it

Mikazuki eventually enters the scene, wrapped in a cloak that looks a little too similar to Yamanbagiri’s’s own, introducing himself as Cinderella’s fairy godmother.

“Do not cry, Kogirella…”

“I-It’s Cinderella, old man.” Kogistunemaru corrected but only got a shrug from the raven-haired Tachi. “A-Anyway, I want to go to the ball…It’s too late for me now.”

“It’s never too late!” Mikazuki smiled brightly as he began to tug at his comrade’s clothes, intent on getting him changed. “I will help you get to the ball! All you need to do is strip.”

From there onwards, the play just became filled with amusing side comments and slight changes to the play

Once the play ends, the group is rewarded with a round of applause and cheers with the Saniwa standing up to give them a standing ovation.

If the Saniwa was of age or not, they are entitled to a drink…or a litre at least according to Jirotachi who had almost finished 2 bottles of sake already

The party would carry into the night and even a few of the Tantous had been able to sneak a few cups of  sake before being forced to got to bed by their elder brothers or guardians

The drinking party would carry into the night…until out of pure drunkenness the Saniwa may have started to challenge others to a dance battle…

Surprisingly, Yamanbagiri, Ichigo and Shishou accepted the challenge–using the alcohol as an excuse for their erratic movements

80% of the swords had passed out in the Main Hall or in the hallways having been too inebriated to return to their rooms

On the other hand, the Saniwa had most likely been tucked into bed safely by more responsible swords like Horikawa or Tomoe

The next morning, everyone has been allowed to sleep in for a bit and had painkillers ready by their bedside for those who had a horrible hang over.

All Campaigns, Internal Affairs and Resource Gathering is Cancelled.

…Can we just imagine Ichigo with his tie wrapped around his head sleeping on a half-dressed Yamanbagiri with his cloak missing and Shishou cuddling against the teal-haired Tachi drooling all over his sleeve?

The Saniwa hopes that maybe next year, the swords will adapt another Disney movie as a play…maybe convince Izuminokami to play Rapunzel? Or have Akashi act as Sleeping Beauty…??

Summary

Nos situamos en un lugar llamado Ciudadela, la cual está habitada por chicos, sin embargo no son humanos comunes, ellos provienen de las espadas y fueron transformados en humanos por Saniwa (que en el juego eres tu quien toma ese rol), la misión de los chicos es detener al ejercito retrograda y evitar que la historia sea alterada. Uno de los recién llegados y también nuestro protagonista principal es Yasusada Yamatonokami un uchigatana, Yasusada o Yamato (como la mayoría del fandom se refiere a él), es un chico muy amable y un tanto ingenuo, desea ser igual de fuerte que su antiguo maestro, sin embargo es constantemente es acosado por una pesadilla la cual está relacionada con una de las últimas batallas de su antiguo poseedor Soji Okita el capitán de la primera división del Shinsengumi, sin embargo Kiyomitsu le recuerda que fue él a quien llevaba aquel día, haciendo que Yamato se confunda al no saber el motivo de tal pesadilla.

In touken ranbu who else you would want to have a 2.5D actor on stage or musicals?

This is an interesting question. As I actually want a bunch of actors in my mind to act in Toumyu/Tousute.

Pleas note that is basically my dream team, so I will be super biased XD

Well then, let’s start the list XD

1. As I’ve wrote here many times before, if Tousute decided to have Kashuu Kiyomitsu someday, I would love to see Toman act as him. I think he’s the best candidate. He is someone that you would call “genderless actor”, who will deffinitely look good in heels and heavy make up. As @kaki-ono-kento​ mentioned before, he looks comfortable and fine wearing heels in BPro stage, running here and there and dancing all around stage.

Yeah. I bet Toman will do good as Kashuu XD

2. This is only my wish, but I would love to see Heshikiri Hasebe in Toumyu too. I want to see him interact with geezer from Sanjou and the hot blooded guys from Shinsengumi. And if he is, someday, I would love to see Konishi Ryosei as him XD I don’t know why but when the image of singing Hasebe comes to mind I automatically see Konishi Ryosei XD

3. Hotarumaru! I really want to see him on stage, preferably Toumyu because I want to see how he’s gonna fight and sing and dance with his smoll body and very long sword XD As for the actor, the cute little Kato Kachiro’s actor from 9th Seigaku will be a good candidate. Oh, and Itagaki Rihito from Show By Rock! musical!XD

4. Oh! I also want to see Asuma Kousuke as Jirotachi! XD I bet he’ll look dashing as Jirotachi. And Yoshioka Yuu or Ayukawa Taiyo as Tarotachi XD

5. Hoshimoto Yuzuki. He will look good as Midare Toshiro XD

6. UGH how can forget about him? Nakamura Taro!!! I bet he’ll look awesome as Otegine XD

7. New sword is okay, right? Daihanya Nagamitsu, preferably in Toumyu! And Tanaka Ryosei is a good choice don’t you think? And he played with a bunch of Touken Danshi before in Yuugeki, so…

8. Aizen Kunitoshi! I want him together with Hotarumaru XD Fukuzawa Taiga looks perfect for him www I promised you it’s not because Taiga acted as read haired highschool boy before XD

9. Kamisato Yuuki (if he comeas back) will look good as Juzumaru Tsunetsugu,,once they dealt with his hilariously long hair XD

10. Furuta Kazuki as Nakigitsune! Don’t you agree? XD

11. Nakamura Yuuichi, preferably in Tousute, as Ookanehira

12. And Miyagi Koudai will look good as Uguisumaru XD

13. Kimura Tatsunari as Mutsunokami Yoshiyuki.

14. Sana Hiroki as Koryuu Kagemitsu.

15. Hiramaki Jin as Kikkou Sadamune

16. Takikawa Kodai as Oodenta Mitsuyo

17. Furukawa Yuta as Tomoegata Naginata

Dang that was long. And it’s not even half of my dream Touken Danshi team XD I have other names in mind but can’t decided yet about the sword role XD
