I've honestly just always loved that Jimin has historically acted like a normal human being around women because the way some of the members NOT GONNA SAY NAMES pretended to be tooootally indifferent to them and treated women like something to be scared of always gave me the ick and something something about men and how they fuck women but dont really like women as people

I previously talked about panopticon in my post about surveillance type content in BTS and it striked me to see that Jimin might actually make use of that concept. I do want to stress that this is just one way of interpreting the image and other clues given up until now and not a definitive understanding.

What's important in the panopticon is that its purpose is for the individual who is watched to self regulate his behavior. They are not forced, but merely put into a situation which automatically leads to that. It's called internalized surveillance. They act in the way they're supposed to do without an outside factor actively imposing it to them. I think this concept works very well for the artist-idol and in particular the industry through BH's modus operandi. Before going further, I do want to mention again the sinopticon which is the opposite - when the many watch the few. That is because the BTS content is usually a combination of both. They always had to self regulate their behavior when they were being watched by the many (live streams) and then there was also the ITS type of content which was a more clear example of a panopticon. They basically grew as a band in a surveilled environment through different media outlets.

In interpreting Jimin's concept as him actively being aware of his internalized surveillance and how he had to self regulate his behavior, is nothing short of fascinating. It's like Brecht's theater, by which I mean he might hint at actually shedding a light on showing how the mechanism works and perhaps the results that come from being in that state, hence the title of the song Set Me Free Pt. 2.

Being an idol means being constantly scrutinized, micro-analized and watched closely by millions of people. We are part of it, we are the surveillants here as well because this is a complex relationship and not a one way street. It might be about internal expectations, industry demands and the fandom's disection and criticism of every gesture and every word. We are as well the guardian in this metaphorical prison. I'll wait and see if any of this is even remotely close to what Jimin wants to express once the song is out and the album as well.

Writing about this, I got reminded of this quote that I really like and I try to take it to heart, although it's not easy. But it did make me think about Jimin's journey and what this album might be about in a way.
