Jiaoqiu x gn!reader- 16
summary- you've started to skip meals, and avoid anything to do with food. Jiaoqiu had started to catch one. t/w- Eating disorder (reader) below the tag A/n- I'm very sorry if anything in this anything is wrong or rude in a way, please DM or comment if you want something changed ❤️
Tumblr media
Jiaoqiu had noticed something about you since you'd first gotten together. You avoided eating, you skipped meals and you always made sure your knew what was in your food. He'd found it strange how you did all these things, but he'd eventually put the pieces together.
He started to become increasingly worried ever since he figured it out. He always made sure you at least had one meal a day. You could see what he was doing and tried to assure him that you were perfectly fine.
"Y/n, are you feeling okay? You've hardly touched your food. It's your favourite right?" You could see concern etched onto his face.
"Oh yeah. Just not feeling it tonight."
"Is it too spicy?"
"No no it's great, I'm just feeling a bit sick tonight."
"Would you like to go lay down?"
You nodded at his suggestion. Your body moved slowly and your eyes dropped as you walked. All you'd had today was water, but you couldn't tell him that could you? He'd start to fuss over you again like he always did.
Soon after he'd washed up he'd come to check on you. He placed his hand over your forehead to check your temperature.
"You don't have a fever. Are you sure you're okay?"
"Yeah." You grumbled.
"I know you're not, please talk to me." He sat on the edge of the bed and ran his fingers through your hair.
"I am fine."
"Y/n. This isn't okay, you're not eating anymore."
"I am eating!"
"What did you eat today?"
All you could do was stay silent, you couldn't tell him you hadn't eaten! Tears started to fall down your face. You didn't know what to do anymore.
"Please." His voice cracked.
He lay down and wrapped his arms around you. Jiaoqiu didn't know what to do. The best he could do was hold you.
"Talk to me when you're ready."
You sniffled in his arms "Yeah okay."

an eye for an eye
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: jiaoqiu x gn!reader
genre: angst
summary: the two of you were always bitter enemies, ever since you were young. but feelings change over time, and you made the greatest sacrifice because of it.
word count: 2.2k
a/n: i have finally gotten around to editing and now posting the pt 2 of save your tears!! to the people who were requesting this, i hope this is up to your expectations ૮₍˶Ó﹏Ò ⑅₎ა
Tumblr media
you remembered now.
your rivalry started when the two of you were fresh-faced students, attending the ranzhi school in hopes of becoming the top healer.
jiaoqiu and you had opposing views, often clashing in heated debates in class. the two of you were like fire and water, fighting tooth and nail to rip the position of no. 1 on the exam billboard from each other. every exam, the title of no. 1 bounced between the two of you.
you detested jiaoqiu’s sly smirk, his teasing voice every time he scored higher or was praised by the teacher. every self-satisfied smile made your fists clench, nails digging into your skin. his proud mannerisms made you want to both punch his face in and bash your head against a wall.
yet what you hated the most was how his sly remarks made your heart dance in its cage, tomato red saturating the tips of your ears when you made eye contact.
jiaoqiu hated your quiet presence, how his eyes would search for you every time he entered a room. your arrogant presence ruffled his fur. your quiet, studious presence made his fur prickle with irritation. whenever the teacher affirmed your comment and you sent an arrogant smirk in his direction, jiaoqiu wanted to claw his own eyes out.
what jiaoqiu despised the most was how his heart would speed up every time he saw you, ears pricking up with interest when he heard your voice.
Tumblr media
every class was a battle, the other students only watching in silent mortification as you and jiaoqiu battled with medical terms and theories, words clashing like swords, relentless and unstoppable, each seeking to deliver the final blow.
the climax of your rivalry was during a class discussion, when the teacher posed the hypothetical question–what was the best treatment for someone who had drunk tumbleweed poison?
a hand shot up in the air.
“an eye for an eye. find a willing participant to donate their eyes.” you spoke, confidence and certainty clear in your voice.
the teacher’s remark is cut off by a hand slamming into the table.
“ridiculous. who has ever heard of such a thing?” jiaoqiu jumped up, fur bristling in every direction, ears flattened in anger and pointing an accusatory finger at you. “who would ever want to sacrifice their own sight for someone else? i say that medicine to slow down the poison and its effects is the best method, there is no known cure for tumbleweed poisoning.”
as expected, the debate between the two of you lasts long, the sun’s pale yellow rays deepen into a warm golden, sun sliding further down the horizon, before the bell tinkles in the distance, signifying the end of the class.
Tumblr media
it was ironic, that was the last debate that you had with jiaoqiu before your graduation. after, you both went your separate ways. sometimes, you found yourself missing the cunning foxian, with his smiling eyes that held something more.
jiaoqiu often found himself wondering what you were up to, his thoughts drifting to you when he drank a tea you had once mentioned to your friends. he missed your arrogant presence, with the quiet studious nature drawing all his attention every time he entered a room.
he habitually visited your herb store, tail and ears twitching with amusement as he pushed your buttons. he could see the vein throbbing in your neck, how you would clench your hands on the tabletop, a forced polite smile carved onto your face. a similarly sly grin was reflected on jiaoqiu’s.
Tumblr media
when the war broke out, you sometimes wondered if jiaoqiu would be safe, after all, he was the healer for the merlin’s claw, the frontlines was his second home.
while he treated feixiao, jiaoqiu often found his thoughts wandering to you. would you have used a different herb to treat her? or would you have used a completely different method? he found himself almost missing the heated debates and the thrill it gave him, his heart beating faster, tail swishing in excitement.
Tumblr media
the sound of the door opening awakens jiaoqiu.
sunlight warmed his body, as he lay in his bed, resting, according to the doctor’s orders.
though his sight had been stolen by the poison, he knows where everything is, the memories and layout etched into his brain.
“jiaoqiu,” feixiao called from the doorway. the mentioned foxian’s ears swivel atop his head, turning his face in the direction he hoped feixiao was standing. “i’ve brought someone to help you regain your sight. we’ll come in now.”
two sets of footsteps pattered across the wooden floors, before stopping at the side of the bed.
“so,” jiaoqiu begins. “who is this mysterious doctor who can cure me?”
“we started on the wrong foot before, jiaoqiu,” your voice floated through the air. “but i believe i can heal you.” you spoke quietly, voice wavering with nervousness.
though jiaoqiu couldn’t see, your eyes were flitting around the room, desperate to focus on anything but the foxian in front of you. your fingers were busy, picking at the bandage wrapped around your hand, from when the shard of porcelain sliced into your hand.
despite his sight being taken away, jiaoqiu’s ears could still recognise the voice of his rival during his student days and the person who he had rudely thrown the teacup at. his body stiffened, tail swishing in agitation and anxiety.
he suddenly recalled that he never apologised for his previous outburst. guilt flashed across his face, though he was quick to quash it down. his eyebrows furrowed, fists gripping the blanket underneath his hand.
jiaoqiu could imagine you, standing next to feixiao, proud and arrogant, like how you were in your youth. now, you had more reason to gloat. you had the upper hand in this moment.
the silence fell heavily between the three of you, feixiao’s brows knitted together, her sharp eyes noticed how you silently winced next to her, face turning more guilty than you were before you walked closer to jiaoqiu.
“feixiao, if you’ve come to taunt me with false hope, bringing along the person i least want to see, you can leave.” jiaoqiu’s voice cuts through the silence, definate in his decision.
you take a hesitant step forwards, stretching out a hand, worry and despair that jiaoqiu can’t see reflecting all on your face.
“stay away from me.” jiaoqiu growls, baring his teeth in your direction. “have you come to mock me again? to rub it in my face that i can’t be the top healer anymore?” spite and hate drip from his voice, like poison.
no, that's not what he meant. he was supposed to apologise, but this, sharp words that only served to harm people, came more naturally, especially with you.
you flinch, snatching your hand back, trying to stop the trembling in your hands. your hands tightened its grasp on your medicine box, knuckles turning white.
feixiao sighed, exasperated at the childish nature of her healer.
“jiaoqiu,” she spoke firmly. “if you want to be able to heal me in the future, then you need your sight back. i know you had history with [name], in fact, i heard about what happened last time, but they’re the only one right now who has a shred of hope in saving your sight.”
hearing feixiao’s reasoning, the fight left jiaoqiu’s body like a deflating balloon.
with an annoyed exhalation, jiaoqiu could only obediently nod his head in agreement.
settling your medicine box onto the mahogany bedside table, you began unpacking your instruments, while explaining the procedure to jiaoqiu and feixiao.
“i’m sure you remember, jiaoqiu, the proposed theory i had about how to treat tumbleweed poison.”
“an eye for an eye.” jiaoqiu echoed, the corners of his mouth twitching in amusement as he remembered the memory.
“indeed.” you affirmed, nodding your head.
with a shaky breath in, you picked up the right instruments, beginning the procedure.
Tumblr media
when jiaoqiu awoke, the weak morning rays filtered through the window, shining upon his blankets. jiaoqiu marvelled at the success of your operation, drinking in the sights of his familiar abode. he glanced around. the traces of feixiao’s presence were clear, an empty chair pulled up beside his bed, her coat thrown over a chair and her weapon propped up against the wall.
slipping out of bed, jiaoqiu exited his bedroom, expecting to see you at any moment, ready to gloat to him about your genius and how you were better than him in medicinal skill.
yet the house was oddly silent, no life present, the only sound the soft patter of his slippered feet hitting the wooden floor.
confused on where the guests were, he made his way outside, the spray of the sea air sprinkling against his skin.
he saw the back of your figure, whispering something close to feixiao’s ear. the roar of the waves drowned out your voices, not even jiaoqiu’s sensitive ears could pick up what you were muttering.
Tumblr media
feixiao noticed jiaoqiu’s lurking presence, glancing at him with surprise and a hint of worry in her eyes. with a curt final message, feixiao left the two of you, throwing a departing glare of warning at jiaoqiu.
pausing by jiaoqiu’s shoulder, feixiao muttered to him a word of warning.
“be mindful of what you say to [name] and be gentle with your words.” feixiao hissed.
jiaoqiu dismissed her words with a shrug of his shoulders, annoyance present on his face. he was the patient, so why was feixiao being so nice to the healer?
with purpose in his step, jiaoqiu stalked towards you.
the tap tap of footsteps drawing closer behind you alerted you to a presence behind you, a simple deduction telling you it was most likely jiaoqiu.
“so,” jiaoqiu’s silky tone broke through the din. “how do you feel, o mighty healer?”
his voice dropped with mockery, a sly smile cruelly curving his mouth.
“i feel the same.” your curt voice was indifferent, not turning to look at jiaoqiu.
his fur bristled in annoyance. the fight in your voice, always present when you talked to him, was gone and it unnerved him.
“which unfortunate individual did you scam, to trade their eyesight for mine?” jiaoqiu pressed on, hoping for some sort of reaction from you. anger, glee, smugness, it mattered not to him, your lack of emotion put him on edge.
silence.
“i’m talking to you.” jiaoqiu growled. “at least look at me.”
only the splash waves answered his question.
jiaoqiu marched towards you, placing a heavy hand on your shoulder and turning you around to face him.
almost in slow motion, you turned, the white bandages falling away from your face.
the howl of the wind fell silent, the whole world holding its breath. jiaoqiu’s breath caught in his throat, his thoughts scattering like startled birds, words faltering on his tongue. a numbing shock swept over him, rendering him frozen.
jiaoqiu’s sharp eyes met yours. they were once so full of life and fire, now clouded over with milky white, sight stolen. his heart dropped in his chest, all the mockery and sarcasm ripped out of him.
the final remanants of arrogance melted from his tone, leaving only disbelief and pity. his ears flattened against his head, as he stared at the bandages.
“you–” jiaoqiu’s voice cracked. “why?” he breathed. “why give your eyes away? to me, of all people?”
your lips twisted into a wry smile. “love makes people do stupid things, jiaoqiu.” you whispered, sadness saturating your voice. where tears used to form, beads of scarlet began to pool, threatening to spill over.
jiaoqiu’s sharp tongue, always ready to retort, was rendered useless, staring helplessly at the person in front of him, pale eyes gazing somewhere beyond him, a once fierce rival, reduced to a broken and selfless person.
jiaoqiu’s throat tightened, reaching out his hand, hovering near your shoulder. an overwhelming sorrow ate away in his chest, guilt gnawing at his insides.
“why didn’t you tell me?” he asked, voice flooding with confusion and hurt.
you laughed, a hollow sound, laced with upset. “you wouldn’t have let me, if you had known.”
jiaoqiu’s ears flattened in shame, his lips pressed into a thin line. he knew, he would’ve argued with you, hell, even fought with you if he could see. but now, it was too late.
“you know, i never really hated you,” your voice broke through the silence, bloody tears trailing down your cheeks. “no, wait, i did, at the start, i really did hate you, with a burning passion.” you let out another sorrowful laugh. “but somewhere along the line, the hate, it turned to love.”
jiaoqiu’s breath caught, all those years of rivalry, it was something more, something simmering beneath the surface, just out of reach, something neither of you wanted to admit.
he wanted to say something, do anything, reach out and wipe your tears, perhaps, but his words and his body weren’t listening, he was frozen. his hand still suspended in mid-air. the weight of everything left unsaid hung between the two of you.
“i’m sorry,” he finally exhaled, voice raw with emotion, regret, barely audible in the wind. “maybe one day, if you wish, no, if you could ever forgive me, would you still give me a chance?”
deep down, he knew, it would be a long time, but he would wait for you, no matter how long.

``One fleeting moment of eye contact.``
X !GN! Reader
You caught me staring at you
from across the room.
But I caught you staring back.
And you can't help but wonder what crosses his mind every time your eyes meet.
Do you appear in his mind as often as he does in yours?
You really hope so...
Though, you can't help
but feel like you know the answer already
because he looks at you
like you're something worth seeing
and his face light up
every time he spots you
in a crowded room.
And you wonder if maybe
Just maybe
He talks to his friends
Just like you tell your friends
About how much he misses you
And how his heart aches for you
How much you miss him
And how much your heart
Aches for him.
Because every time you see that smile of his,
You just....
....
Sometimes, people forget that you can't hide feelings in silence.
Because your eyes speak.
And sometimes
Your hearts will
Understand each other
Even when
Nothing is being said.
And yet you wonder; why isn't anything being said?
Perhaps deep down, you're both still a little scared...
But if you dig
Just a little bit deeper
Into the depths of both of your hearts
(Or maybe not even very deep at all)
You both knew
That you didn't even need to say the words
I love you
Because all it took was
One fleeting moment of eye contact.

Jing Yuan
“Ah!” Y/n yelps as strong hands settle on their waist from behind. The spoon they were stirring dinner with clatters into the pot as their hand grazes the rim. “Ow- Jing Yu- stop laughing!”
“I’m sorry.” He runs one hand up their arm to take their injured hand and lead them away from the stove.
“Turn off the stove, I don’t want to burn dinner just because you’re a clingy fool. And you’re still laughing, this isn’t funny I burnt myself.”
“But your tail is so fluffy right now, I haven’t seen it this puffed up since all that static electricity from my cold.”
“Do you wanna get bit? Because you’re working your way up to it really fast,” Y/n challenged half heartedly.
“I’m sorry.”
“I can see you biting your lip.”
Blade
“Blade!” Y/n shrieked from across the base. The stelleron hunter slowly got up from the table where he’d been cleaning his weapon and made his way down the hall. “Blade, hurry up! It’s- ah!”
“What is it?” He entered the workshop to find Y/n crouched on their workbench and watching the floor intently. “Got tired of being short?”
“There, there! Kill it!”
Blade sighs, walking over to the skittering bug and crushing it under his boot. “There, it’s dead. Anything else?”
“Help me down?”
“You can get down yourself. Hmph, I see the bug gave you quite the shock.”
“Shut up… I dropped a screw and when I went to pick it up that thing was right there. You can let go of me now.”
“Give me a moment and I’ll come sit with you in case there are any more.”
Dan Heng
Y/n whips their head around, “What the-”
“Hm? Is something the matter?” Dan Heng asks, not looking up from what he’s doing. He’s sat in his chair while Y/n sits on the small steps. When he receives no response, he turns around. “Why is your tail all puffed up, did you shock yourself?”
“No… your tail, it hit mine and I wasn’t expecting it.”
“Oh, sorry. I can…” he trailed off as he searched for a word, “hide it if you want?”
“No! No, it just startled me. Actually, can I wrap mine around it? Since I can’t really sit beside you right now.”
“Always, and if you want, you can always sit on my lap.”
“My, my, so forward.”
Boothill
“Hey kit-”
“AH!” Y/n screamed, slamming their head into their latest invention. “Ow-”
“Holy forkeroni you good kitty cat?”
“Ow, I’m fine… what the hell do you want?”
Boothill snickered, entering the workshop and dropping himself onto a stool. He held out his arm. “You’re pretty darn puffy for being fine. Not that you aren’t fine, you always look fine, I just mean-”
“Can it, cowboy, I know what you mean. You feeling okay?”
“Peachy.” Boothill hummed, reaching his free hand out to smooth their staticky fur.
“Got quite a few exposed wires for someone who’s peachy.”
“Touche.”
Sunday
“Ah!”
“What?!” Sunday asked, voice full of concern as he ran into the lounge car.
“Nothing, it was just a ball of hair getting blown around… thought it was a weird, big, bug,” Y/n huffed. Sunday hesitantly wrapped an arm around their waist and pulled them into his side. “What were you doing?”
“Hm?”
“Your feathers, they’re all puffed u-oops, sorry, forgot they were sensitive.”
“I-it’s fine. If you want you can smooth them out if…” his voice trailed into a mumble, “I can smooth out your tail.”
“Can I preen your wings while I’m at it?”
“If you’re alright with bathing together.”
Jiaoqiu
A loud clatter echoed through the large kitchen as Jiaoqiu knocked over a precariously stacked pile of pots and pans. “Oops, sorry,” he chuckled, turning to check on Y/n.
“Ow, ow- oh, wipe that smug look off your face.”
“But you’re doing such a funny dance.”
“I stubbed my toe because of you!”
“You’ve also gone all frizzy because of me, I feel like I should make it up to you somehow.”
“Right, because you’re so sorry.”
“Terribly so.”
“Gonna hide a humidifier in your office, see how you like a frizzy tail.”
Moze
“I am going to stick a bell on you!” Y/n huffed as Moze once again silently settled at their side, startling them when they turned.
“Sorry, but I don't think your fluffy tail takes away from your outfit. You always look good, frizzy tail or not.”
“Thank you, but it’s not just about the frizzy tail. You make my heart pound enough as it is, thank you very much. It doesn’t need a jump start.”
“Is that why you can never hear me coming?” He asked, and leaned his head on their shoulder.
“What do you mean?”
“Your heart drowns out the sound of mine.”
“Moze…”
“Oh, I can hear your heart now.”
“Aeons,” Y/n sighed.

Hi there long time lurker here for you blog and all your works! I'm not kidding its been a long time and I love your writings. May I request a Jiaoqiu x vidyadhara reader who is a sassy noble person with a sweet and kind heart but she somehow got severely injured?
Tumblr media
Thanks for requesting, I'm so glad that you enjoy my blog enough to ascend from the lurking stage! :D Hope to hear more from you in the future!!
»»———————— ♡ ————————««
♡ It's unlikely that Jiaoqiu is the first person to hear about your injury; however, he's the first one you see by your side once you open your eyes again. He sits there, stern-faced, ears twitching. His hand is holding yours almost a bit too tight, with some of his fingers resting on top of your pulse as if he's afraid you'll slip from his grasp. But you don't get the time to ask him why he looks so sullen because he jumps up and calls out to you the second he notices you waking up. Although he hovers over you when it becomes clear that you have regained your conscience, there is a certain distance between you two, and you can't really understand why. Even if you ask if something is the matter, he won't tell you, brushing you off and leaving if you insist on speaking about it. Not for long, just to cool off. After all, he still has to make sure you're fed and taken care of. Jiaoqiu won't allow anyone else to make your food, and he has to be in the room to review any medicine you receive.
♡ The reason why it feels that he's distant is because he is so angry. Angry at you, angry at the circumstances that put you in danger, and the most angry at anyone who hurt or allowed you to get hurt. Jiaoqiu is trying to keep his feelings in check in front of you, but he always knew things would play out like this. Countless times, he told you how reckless you were. That, no matter how good your heart was, you never thought twice before putting your life on the line. You find him flexing his fingers at the murderous thoughts in his mind or have him touch you just a tad too harshly when the feelings interfere with your treatment. He wants to throw all these accusations and emotions at you but refrains. You are a patient, and your recovery is more important to him than anything else.
♡ Especially when your recovery forms you into an adorable little mess for him to figure out. Vidyadhara are tricky organisms, and Jiaoqiu does everything he has to learn from Bailu how to treat you properly and then use the knowledge to the best of his abilities. He spends almost more time on research than actually treating you, but he won't allow a single mistake. Nobody is allowed to treat you except him, so you are also counting on him, only adding more pressure. It's all worth it, though, when he can observe you slowly regain your strength and liveliness, the bruises turning back into your skin color and your wounds closing up. No matter how much sleep he loses over it, he wouldn't miss the nights he spends with you for anything; protecting your sleep, slipping into your bed and cuddling with you when the nightmares act up, and getting to be with you when you wake up in the morning, feeling a little better every day.
♡ For a while, your conditions are a blessing as he gets to take care of you properly. Even just the mundane things, like brushing your hair or helping you wash up and dress yourself, thrill Jiaoqiu. It's almost a little sad that it has to end. He wants you to be healthy again, he really does! But won't you get yourself in trouble again once you don't need to be on bed rest? Won't you fight again, argue again? Are you going to keep coming back more beat-up than the last time for him to fix? Of course, someone as observant as he is notices your growing restlessness and desire to be up and of help. But this is not just about your self-preservation anymore, it is also about him. What will Jiaoqiu do if, one day, you just don't return at all?
♡ He can push these thoughts aside for a while since it takes time for you to be up and running again. But you begin slipping out of his grasp too quickly for his liking. And when you refuse to even be fed any more, telling him you are ready to go back to "normal" food, Jiaoqiu has to make a decision. "One last meal together," he tells you. One more, and he won't complain about you taking control of your own life again. He insists you take another spoon and another—enough so that the sleeping pill can really take effect.
♡ A patient who's still barely able to wake up can't be released from his care, right? You'll probably not feel so great the next few days, and he can't have you collapse in the street. Jiaoqiu has to at least find out the cause! He tells himself it's only for a few more days. Just one more week. He is merely prolonging the bedrest until you are fully healed—many would beg for a chance to get some good rest, and surely you will appreciate it, too. It's all in your best interest, but he certainly doesn't mind spending some extra cuddle time with you, doting on his favorite person.
♡ And while you are asleep, and he knows you are in a stable condition, he can finally take care of the actual problems that caused you so much harm. Because he still can't and refuses to forgive anyone who put their marks on you and made you suffer. They don't deserve his mercy, and he has feelings that he still needs to flush out of his system so he can give you the love and affection you deserve. Jiaoqiu will make things right, so they won't come to bite you in the butt once you are keeping yourself busy again. Even if it'll take a while longer for you to be back on your feet—that gives him enough time to prolong these wretched people's torture as long as they deserve.

Treatment is not the reason, the main thing is to eat well.
Tumblr media
Character: Jiaoqiu
Synopsis: Being a cloud knight is hard, especially if you get injured after battles. But how good it is that there is a healer who will heal and feed!
Wn: If there are any, please tell me!
F!Reader!
English is not my native language! That's why I tried to avoid game terms. Written before 2.4!
P.S. It didn't turn out what I planned, but the reader ate delicious.
The girl was a frequent visitor to his office. This is already a familiar environment. It was difficult to be on the front line in the fight against infected mara, and it was impossible to exclude any injuries.
Today is no exception. After a long battle, Y/N breaks into his office with the words: "Jiaoqiu, cook me something!". To which he sighs and puts down his brush.
"You finished earlier than I expected," Jiaoqiu gets up from his seat and walks over to the girl and gestures for her hand. Without hesitation, she stretches out her hand and watches as he measures her pulse and thus monitors the work of her other organs. — Apart from the abrasions, you have nothing serious. Why did you come?
— And I was hoping so, — the girl said it more to herself than to him. — I wanted to eat delicious food.
— To eat? Huh, I can cook something for the abrasions, but you know you can't eat it. Jiaoqiu smiles at her when he sees her droop after he finished his words. He grins and slaps her on the head before continuing, "If that's what you want, I can feed you that way."
The girl immediately jumps up from her seat, as if not believing his words. He just smiles and walks over to a rack with a lot of drawers. He gets the ingredients he needs from there, cuts them up, puts everything in a small pot, fills it with water and stirs it.
Jiaoqiu puts the pot on the fire, waves his fan, and a pleasant smell wafts throughout the room. The man does not pay attention to how Y/N is already sleeping on the couch. Perhaps she would be praising the way he was once again creating a culinary masterpiece.
Taking the pot off the fire, he puts it on the table and pours the soup into a plate. He also made tea. It is not particularly different from the usual one, but has a better healing effect. He wanted to give her the ointment right away, but changed his mind. Because another idea came to his mind.
— Y/N, everything is ready. When he gets no answer, he turns around, but sees her sleeping on the couch near the entrance. Sighing heavily, he walks up to her and pokes her on the cheek. He chuckles a little when she squirms at his touch. But she opens her eyes anyway. — Go ahead.
— Oh, good! — Y/N jumps up from his seat and goes to the table, where everything is ready. I'm ready to be treated by you for the rest of my life!
— I'm not sure that you come here specifically for treatment. Jiaoqiu laughs when she sees her face, as if she's been caught red—handed. Which, in principle, it is.
— Mm.. Who knows. — The girl smiles at him, but he does not respond to this, only raises an eyebrow at her words. Y/N sits down at the table and starts eating the soup he has prepared. If she had the same ears and tail as Jiaoqiu, they would show how happy she is now to try something delicious.
— Is it that delicious? The fox smiles at her.
— Very much! You can't imagine how! — Y/N finishes the last portion and washes it down with a glass of tea that was brewed by a man. But she starts to feel like everything is starting to burn in her mouth. — Jiaoqiu, why did it become so sharply acute?
"You'll know how to distract me from my work for nothing." Jiaoqiu smiles at her as if he hadn't done anything. While the girl is outraged by his actions, he just laughs at her.
He is by no means against such a company and the fact that he is distracted from work. Even if his position in the commission depended on it, he would not miss a single moment to make a person smile just at the thought that the food would be prepared by none other than Jiaoqiu, a healer from Yaoqing.

Jiaoqiu stood on the cursed balcony.
He sadly realized that the balcony was not at fault. It was cursed only because he was standing on it. He and his thoughts, from which he wanted to escape, even if he couldn't.
The earth beneath his feet seemed to be his only connection to the world. And yet, in addition to touch, he had hearing. He twitched his furry ears. Jiaoqiu heard the familiar sound of footsteps. The rustle of clothes in the wind. He was like a prisoner about to be executed. Like when Hoolay had held him captive and he wasn't sure if he would ever be free again. With his heart beating wildly, Hoolay could easily end his life in a matter of minutes. And now, everyone was safe. Everyone Jiaoqiu loved was still with him.
He would do it again. He didn't regret the decision he made. Even though the pain of the poison tore his body long after he had taken it. It would tear it apart and put it back together just so it could destroy it again. Maybe that was why it was so hard for him to get up and just live now because he had partly accepted then that he wouldn't be going back. The fight was over. General Feixiao would take care of everything. He was the only one left in the place, with the darkness everywhere.
He had never noticed how beautiful Xianzhou Alliance looked. Until now, it had simply been a ship full of people. A place he moved around. The sight of which he only sighed over on exceptionally beautiful days, when the light swept over the wooden planks and the wind stirred the red bells. But now it seemed even more beautiful to him. Just like [Reader]. The one whose footsteps he heard from afar. Things we can't have always look more beautifull than they actually are.
She walked so wonderfully unaware. Rejoicing that Jiaoqiu was still there. In a few seconds, she would see. Everything he would never be able. Eyes wandering in search of a light he would never see again. Hands desperately searching for the railing that would let him know he was only a few steps away from the abyss. Ears catching sounds because at least he had hearing left. What she wouldn't see was his heart. Shattering into glass fragments. Into mosaic patterns that could never be put back together. Because once you destroy it, even if you try to glue it, it would never be the same.
He knew what she would tell him. That it didn't matter. She would be sympathetic to his condition but it wouldn't change how much she still wanted to be there for him. How could he explain to her that this changed everything? Every plan he had for the future that included her. All the moments he had put off. The later that would never come. Not everything could be done the same way without seeing.
What was it like to imprison someone? But not in the way Hoolay had. Back then, Jiaoqiu hadn't wanted to be in the place where he'd been imprisoned. What was it like to imprison someone at their own will? To stay and take away some of their life's opportunities. Because that's what he would have done if he'd stayed. But was it in any way his decision? Why would he have taken away [Reader]'s free will? He should have just said so and let her decide. Thinking that way, he was only slightly better than his own tormentors. He wanted to strip her of her right to choose.
Jiaoqiu had been hiding his face behind a fan for many years. To prevent his opponents from knowing his movements. Many thought so. He tried to make it look that way. But the truth was that the device was there to block himself off and cover him. From everything that tormented him around him. If someone can't see you, they won't see through you. They won't understand you completely. You won't have to worry then. It's hard to hurt somebody if you don't know where to aim. At that moment, he really wanted to take a set of red feathers in his hand and cover his heart. So that no one could ever hit it again. He didn't have to cover his eyes. No one would see the glow in his unconsciously moving pupils anymore. They were dead.
He felt naked. And not just in a metaphorical sense. It was as if someone had ripped the fan out of his hand and with it his clothes. Even if he covered himself with the thickest blanket brought by the guild's merchant ships from the other end of the galaxy, he would still be aware that he was wearing nothing underneath. He should think positively. That's what he always told everyone who left the clinic. Sometimes he even scolded people for complaining. He had shouted too loudly a few times. The fox wanted to tear his hair out. Jiaoqiu was a doctor. He shouldn't think like that. Who was he if he couldn't practice what he had been recommending to his patients for so many years? He wanted to curse the entire world. Even if it had been his own decision that had led him to where he was now. He would do it again and yet some human part of him hated him for what had come of it.
He took a deep breath. The ocean breeze filled his lungs. He wished he had more time to come to terms with the consequences but deep down he knew that probably no amount would solve the dilemma. He had to gather his courage and throw down his fan. He would have to say it. Give her freedom to choose and ask if she would willingly give it up. For him.
He pricked up his ears. A few more seconds.

art of the fan!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
premise: wherein jiaoqiu’s fan does half the work and reaps twice the effect.
warnings: gn!reader, 1.4k words, potential jiaoqiu ooc, written before his release. use of petnames and suffixes. please read the terminology guide below to understand their use in the plot, very ‘walk him like a dog’ core, though in this case fox would be more appropriate, haha.
a/n: guess who’s back with a oneshot ( ;∀;) here is my humble offering to the jiaoqiu nation, i did my best
Tumblr media
jiaoqiu—for some reason—has made it his life’s mission to perpetually get under your skin.
recently, he has employed shady methods, most particularly instilling almost unfair use of his fan in order to get away with things he normally can't, poking at the strings in your heart like how a stick hits a hornet’s nest.
“yi sheng, is there a purpose for this?” you exclaim, with the foxian man sighing in faux disappointment. the sarcastic way of addressing his title does make his face spasm—but unfortunately for you, today, it seems it does little to dampen his mischief.
you are in the humiliating position of being in the sly man’s lap; aggrieved that your current predicament warrants unfair treatment that borders on harassment (an exaggeration, jiaoqiu has never been improper to that extent).
not to mention, his fan is aimed at your chin, making you look up at him while he applies ointment to a rather nasty bruise around your lip, with the gall to hum as he does so.
“ah, ah. don't move.” he holds the feathered fan under your chin, eyes ever closed while a placid smile graces his face, retaining his signature cunning. jiaoqiu has lost his mind. you keep to yourself, ignoring the heat in your cheeks that had made an appearance since earlier—because why else would he do this? (and why in the name of aeons would you let him? something must be wrong with your brain today.) “if you do not let me do this, that unsightly bruise might fester, you know.”
“you’re too close.”
“well, you were too far.”
“i am sitting on your lap, yi sheng. how close do you want us to be?” you roll your eyes, earning jiaoqiu a poke at your face, followed by his hand squishing at the fat on your cheeks. “hey, lwet goh of me…”
“still with the formalities... surely now you can address me by my name, can you?” jiaoqiu coaxes, like saying it might wash away all the fatigue in the world, because every inch of his being, from the tips of his ears to the veins in his heart and the wisps of his soul, his yearning and pining echoes and resounds in the cavity of his chest that holds only you, you, you.
what, jiaoqiu wonders, would it take for him to be the sole beholder of your brilliance? his hands holding yours, gripping faithfully and unfalteringly, your fates bound by knots; crimson in nature, entwined forevermore? his eyes soften because of course they do—for you mold him into a being devoted to commemorating your existence into his flesh, your voice settling in the marrow of his bones.
you falter, your heartbeat loud. jiaoqiu notices. of course he does. “yi sheng—”
“jiaoqiu.”
“yi—”
“qiu-er.”
“....” he can hear your heart thundering in your chest—thump, thump—and it has never occurred to him to praise his foxian senses until now. his smile widens, a fang poking out with the white of his teeth. “i'm waiting, baobei.” your face glows with warmth, and jiaoqiu fights the urge to swallow you up whole right then and there.
(he resists it often when it comes to you.)
“you’re so stubborn!” you say after much deliberation, rejection flat and heavy. jiaoqiu deflates, just a bit, and petulantly rubs ointment on the other bruises littering your face. (his ears show his displeasure, drooping down, comically flat against his head.)
“hmph. and you’re too stingy.”
“all the more reason not to, then!”
still not enough, huh? jiaoqiu wonders if he'll ever get you to crack; if you'll ever mirror the expression of his adoration—swishing tail and perked up ears aside. still, his touch is gentle, like the embers of a fire hugging you for warmth, a blazing sensation in which all the greed in the world falls short compared to his need to touch you, to perceive you. “will i ever hear my name on your lips? you seem to have no issue addressing others so casually.”
“and who exactly are these others?” you raise a brow at him. jiaoqiu shrugs, nonchalant. as though it didn't bother him (he's seething).
you note that he speaks with contempt, bitterness filtering his soft-spoken words. his tail wags rapidly. pfft, so… so childish! (and a little cute, but you don't say it for obvious reasons.)
“well, for starters, the madam general, the dozing general, yunli, the herbalists near the red fox theater, the stair sweepers....”
“wait, wait, that's too many! and the stair sweepers, really?!”
“i’ll avoid answering further questions.”
“you look like you've swallowed vinegar, laoshi.” you croon, biting where you can at the weakened fox you've made, defiantly lowering your chin still held captive by jiaoqiu’s fan. “besides, i merely do it to cut all at one stroke. after all, it is you, yi sheng—” you relish in jiaoqiu’s expression when you get eerily close, noses almost touching, “that insisted i ought to call you by that title, did you not? who knew you were so easy to displease.”
his face constricts, and his hands lower, one hand gripping firm at your waist, and jiaoqiu reels away from you, hiding his face behind his fan as his cheeks tint themselves scarlet. his pride would not allow him to refute, and you knew that very well. “that...”
because you know him. know his ticks, his tells—jiaoqiu does not know if that is love. but his willingness to drop his guard, to let you slip by his foxy exterior—to allow you to burrow and fuse yourself into the tapestry of his being, that of which the fibers of his soul accept and wholeheartedly make room for you; constricting his breath, perceiving you. (he doesn't know if you're in love with him yet, but he is. maybe he always will be.)
your lips quirk up instead, the apples of your cheeks forming while smile lines grace your features, that of which he cannot look away from, cannot close his eyes from; for what use is closing one’s eyes when his sight was granted to him to behold you?
jiaoqiu’s saving grace is that you were kinder for your own good. if he could keep that kindness to himself, then….
“as expected, it's so weird when you're silent,” you laugh, and jiaoqiu’s stare rushes to behold you, the echo of your joy forming his heart anew. “jiaoqiu. there, you petulant fox. happy now?”
and the way he looks at you—his pupils expanding, eyes wide, jiaoqiu loves. the entire universe could crumble and turn to ashes this instant, and he would not look away.
“...i’m not.” you look at him with playful scorn. really, after all this trouble, your eyes seem to say. he chuckles dryly, forcing himself to laugh, because jiaoqiu wants to keep this euphoria and let it sink into his ears, his lungs and his brain. he wants to bottle the sound of your voice forming his name and setting his body ablaze like golden starlight in a place no one can hear but him.
“not what?” facing you, holding you, he can't even begin to breathe. jiaoqiu thinks this might be love, sprouting from his eyes and filling the corners of his veins, circulating fully, wholly, and utterly.
“i’m not happy at all.” he speaks your name like the growing embers of a wildfire, burning his throat and letting jiaoqiu dare to perceive you. “it’s lacking. it will always be lacking.”
and because you were you, you know exactly where to fan the flames. “ever the cunning one, aren't you, qiu-er?”
jiaoqiu thinks it's time you had enough of your fun. again, he's never had reason to praise his senses—but when he hears the deafening beats that increase as he looks at you even more—he thinks that maybe being a foxian is a decision fate was wise in undertaking.
he dips his head low, and before you can question why his fan covered your faces, a soft sensation floods your senses, warming you to the core when you feel the plush of his lips on yours. you feel his smile against your mouth, and the teasing bite down your lower lip makes your eyes turn to saucers.
this sly fox…!
pulling away, jiaoqiu hides his face behind his fan again, almost gloating when he takes in your aghast expression. “well, it's not so lacking anymore, i suppose.”
you glare. “that ointment of yours is useless now that you've kissed it away, you know.”
jiaoqiu brings the hand by your side to his lips, kissing your knuckles, devoting himself to every atom that comprises you, every cell that unravels and ties itself to create you; and he’ll adore you, chasing and basking in the warm daylight you bestow him.
“i can always kiss it better, anyway.” he ruffles your hair, the smile in his eyes mischievous and utterly unfair, because it's sincere, and blinding ....and jiaoqiu is already uncaring of the rapid wag of his tail. “didn’t you say it yourself? i am cunning, after all.”
Tumblr media
BONUS: how to tame a foxian in one go!
Tumblr media
“baobei, you certainly know how to leave someone breathless.”
“don’t follow me.”
“you’re not denying it though.”
“qiu’er, you’ll be demoted back to yi sheng.”
“huh?! thats cruel! wait, i said i’m sorry—!”
Tumblr media
— terminology guide.
· [ 事半功倍 / half the work, twice the effect ] — (an idiom) the right approach leads to the desired/better results; jiaoqiu wanted reader to call him by his name affectionately, and the right ‘approach’ refers to making use of both the fan and the opportunity to kiss reader (which he got and more with minimal effort)
· [ 一刀切 / to cut all at one stroke ] — (idiom) one solution or ‘one size fits all’, reference to how reader doesn't want to refer to jiaoqiu as his name nor do they want to be mistaken to be in a relationship with him (playfully), so they refer to him as yi sheng ( 医生 ) so people don't get confused and see how jiaoqiu absolutely hates it (menace)
other: bao bei ‹ 宝贝 | baby/babe › , -er ‹ friendly and affectionate suffix often used in a teasing way › , yi sheng ‹ 医生 | doctor › laoshi ‹ 老师/老師 | teacher, used often in a certain part of china. used formally for instructors and teachers* ›
*as for why reader refers to jiaoqiu as laoshi aka teacher, jiaoqiu is a counselor (based on given canon information) and they use it to rile him up (since they use it sarcastically—because jiaoqiu was basically ordering them/instructing them to stay still while treating them ^^; hope this makes sense !
tidbit note: when reader says ‘consumed vinegar’ it is a funny way to show that he's jealous, because vinegar is sour (just like jiaoqiu's mood!)
note: hello! i apologize for being so late and so inconsistent with my posts, life has been busy lately with my job. as recompense, have a oneshot… lol. also, this fic wouldn't have happened without the lovely consultation of my friend and mootie @lowkeyren who helped me with making sure i was using the appropriate terms of affectionate address for reader and jiaoqiu, haha. can you tell i loved playing around with his character? even though he isn't out yet TT personally, i think i quite like the dynamic between reader and jiaoqiu; although this may be ooc in some point in time. he just gives off the vibe of a teasing smug bastard… who is a pathetic mess for his lover. or is it just me?? well, who knows…

save your tears
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: jiaoqiu x gn!reader
genre: angstober, events
summary: you were bitter enemies, from the start and for eternity. nothing could repair your relationship
word count: 770
a/n: proud jiaoqiu haver since he first came out, i have started to build him now (finally, ik) this is lwk similar to a jiaoqiu piece i'm working on in my drafts rn...
Tumblr media
it was no secret that you and jiaoqiu were bitter enemies. when it all started, you forgot. maybe it was when you had butted heads during a lesson during your younger years. maybe it was the time he had put dirt and leaves in your sachet during break. maybe it was when you had purposefully tugged on his hair.
the fights were too many to count on one hand, so eventually, you stopped.
Tumblr media
when you had heard about jiaoqiu again, it was after the both of you had graduated, you setting up your own pharmacy and him becoming the famous doctor of the merlin’s claw.
despite your rivalry, jiaoqiu still came to your shop the most often, to collect herb supplies. perhaps he hadn’t yet shaken off the habit of vexing you, for the herd of fangirls who swooned and fainted in front of your shop doorway every time he entered was enough to give you a pounding headache.
however, after the brutal war, you took notice of the absence of an annoying fox, with his sly smile and fluttering fan.
it was only when feixiao paid you a visit on behalf of her doctor that you learnt the news.
the bundle of herbs fell from your grasp, the paper crinkling as it hit the floor. without a glance back, you ran to jiaoqiu’s house.
Tumblr media
jiaoqiu’s head turned towards the direction of the door as he heard it open with a creak.
the soft footsteps padded into the room, before the person froze.
“feixiao?” jiaoqiu’s voice wavered, uncertainty tainting it. “is that you?”
you saw how his eyes were covered with bandages, his ears twitching, trying to catch a sound. behind him, his tail swung restlessly.
“jiaoqiu,” you breathed, your voice caught in your throat.
“you,” jiaoqiu’s voice changed immediately, ears flattening against his head. “get out.”
you were startled by the tone of his voice, but instead, you stepped closer. tentatively, you reached out your hands, fingers gently brushing his face, tilting it in all kinds of directions as you muttered under your breath.
jiaoqiu’s hands swatted at yours, as though you were a fly or a bug.
“get away from me.” he snarled, unwelcome evident in his voice.
hurt, you withdrew your hands.
“what happened?” you whispered, sorrow saturating your tone.
“hoolay.” jiaoqiu’s curt voice broke the silence. “used myself as bait. can’t see now.”
jiaoqiu waited for you to respond, arrogance in your tone. the prolonged silence unnerved him. he was used to your sharp cutting remarks, not this heavy, suffocating silence.
the sight of his bandages tore at your heartstrings. where was that confident and sly foxian you had known in your youth? in front of you sat a broken healer, one who knew his future in the field of healing was bleak.
Tumblr media
a sniffle and rustle broke the silence.
anger flared up within jiaoqiu, coursing through his veins, his fists clenching at his sides.
“if you’re going to cry those crocodile tears,” jiaoqiu growled, baring his fangs in your direction with anger, “then get out.”
when he didn’t hear your footsteps departing from the room, jiaoqiu’s hand wandered blindly across the tabletop before it came into contact with the teacup that sat atop its saucer, drained of the tea it held.
jiaoqiu aimed the teacup in your direction, throwing it in a fit of rage.
with a clear tinkle, the cup shattered against the floor, at your feet. the porecelain pieces scattered, scuttling across the floor, hiding in the nooks and crannies.
wiping your tears with your sleeves, you bent to pick up the pieces. it was just your luck that one of the shards sliced into your palm. a pained hiss escaped from your lips.
jiaoqiu’s ears stood up in alertness as he spun his head towards the source. reaching out his hands, he searched blindly for where you were.
“are you hurt?” he questioned, voice laced with concern, hands outstretched helplessly. guilt hit him like a wave. you were only trying to be caring and a decent person, but his actions were too hostile this time.
swallowing down the pain and tears, you weakly mumbled an answer that jiaoqiu didn’t quite catch. you cupped the shards in your hands, discarding them into the nearby bin before fumbling out some apology.
“...i’ll leave.” you excused yourself before scuttled out of the manor, the sound of your footsteps fading in the distance.
silence settled like a thick, heavy blanket, jiaoqiu’s sole companion.
in the quiet which was only disturbed by the quiet ticking of the clock, jiaoqiu sat, wrapped in his thoughts. had he pushed too far?

could you perhaps write a oneshot to do with the reader getting hurt and jiaoqiu fawning over them? it could be anh scenario you wish :)
you’re writing is so well written as well!!
"𝒴𝑜𝓊 𝒶𝓁𝓌𝒶𝓎𝓈 𝓂𝒶𝓀𝑒 𝓂𝑒 𝓌𝑜𝓇𝓇𝒾𝑒𝒹"
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
💫𝒞𝒽𝒶𝓇𝒶𝒸𝓉𝑒𝓇𝓈: Jiaoqiu x Gender-Neutral reader
💫𝒮𝓎𝓃𝑜𝓅𝓈𝒾𝓈: You've got yourself injured but this he's isn't mad at all, he seems to fawning over you instead?
💫𝒲𝒶𝓇𝓃𝒾𝓃𝑔𝓈: Fluff, One mention of blood, & Spelling Mistakes
💫𝒩𝑜𝓉𝑒𝓈: aww thank you!! that's so sweet of you to say!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
💫𝒥𝒾𝒶𝑜𝓆𝒾𝓊 "𝒯𝒽𝑒 𝐻𝑒𝒶𝓁𝑒𝓇 𝒻𝓇𝑜𝓂 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝒳𝒾𝒶𝓃𝓏𝒽𝑜𝓊 𝒴𝒶𝑜𝓆𝒾𝓃𝑔"
You’re always making him worried about you. Of course, you take care of yourself but how can he think that when 7 out of 10 times you see him, you're injured, bloody, and all messed up? He completely freaks out the second he sees you like this, wraps his arms around you and he runs around trying to fix up your wounds as fast as posable before you lose any more blood.
Telling him not to worry doesn’t help in the slightest. The people around him point that out as well, how lovesick and worried he becomes whenever you're injured, they don’t even bother with anything whenever hurt since it’ll be thrown to the side anyway. He's like a wife of a sailor, waiting for his lover to return.
He feels partially guilty at times that some of your injuries could have been avoided if he had been there with you. Instead, he wants to fasten your healing process as much as possible, making sure you’re perfectly fine and he won’t let you leave until any and every wound on your pretty skin has completely healed.
But now you’re confused, he's acting differently today, Usually, he’s mad at you for getting injured but not today? Why? You can’t help but have so many thoughts while staring back at Jiaoqiu had such a loving gaze in his eyes while holding a spoon in front of you—motioning you to eat—odd, what's with the profound treatment he's giving you? you get you're injured but it’s not like you can’t do anything.
“Eat till your heart's content.” he cooed, shoving the spoon in your mouth after you just stared back for a long time, watching glug down the food with a joyful smile at the taste.
Yet with how much food he made—the table filled to the ends with different dishes that are all steaming hot, you doubt eating all of it, but he’s definitely not letting you leave the table until you’re full.
“You didn’t have to make so much.” you smile, looking at every dish—a couple you won’t be able to even try—he just smiles back without a worry about what you said, shoving another filled spoon into your mouth, any thought of worry leaving your mind which just makes him happy, leaning to clean off a piece of food in the corner of your lip with his thumb.
“Don’t worry about little things like that, just worry about your recovery,”
May you have a quick recovery, but no matter how many times you get hurt, he'll take you with open arms and he'll make sure any dark bruises heal.

“Okay, okay,” Y/n laughed.
They were on a call with some friends while slugging through Star Rail events, trying to scrape up enough pulls for the current banner. Dailies were done, thank you simulated universe, and now they were just struggling against combat challenges.
“Can we play some kind of Fuck, Marry, Kill? I’m going crazy here.”
“Fuck, Marry, Kill. Um… Zhongli, Neuvillette, and… I’m out of dragons.”
“Ganyu’s kind of a dragon,” one of  Y/n’s friends suggested.
“I thought Qilins looked kind of like unicorns.”
“Well Zhongli’s part Qilin, right? So she counts here, now answer the question.”
“Uh…”
As Y/n answered, Jiaoqiu began to fan himself in his idle. The red feathers slowly began to ignite.
“Oh, well that’s not good,” he sighed, giving it two hard bats to put it out.
It happened rather frequently lately, and he took it as a sign that they were back. When his fan caught fire randomly, and he felt an urge to explore that he could not ignore, that was when he was sure they were back.
The trailblazers called them Y/n, that was what Caelus called himself for a bit when he couldn't remember his name. This urge to travel seemed to come and go fairly frequently, one minute March 7th would be dealing with fragmentum creatures on Jarilo VI and the next Welt would feel the need to go to Penacony. They insisted it was nothing to worry about, but Jiaoqiu was a busy man and didn’t like this unscratchable itch.
Suddenly he felt relaxed.
He looked around where he stood in Fyxestroll Garden, but there was no one but him. Taking a few steps to the right, he paused to see if he’d be moved back to where he’d been but nothing happened.
With a sigh, he took out his phone and messaged the Astral Express. There was a chat for people who seemed to fall under their control, so that the express crew could pick them up wherever they got left.
Luckily they were in the area and he quickly found himself in the Astral Express’ passenger car being taken back to the Yaoqing. Feixiao would certainly laugh at him for this.
“Jiaoqiu! Come here!” March called as soon as he’d boarded.
“Hello, Miss March, how are you?”
“Good, good.” She, Caelus, and Dan Heng were sitting round the radio with some tools and parts left out. “Come join us.”
“I suppose I can, what are we doing.”
“Shhh,” Caelus hushed, waving for him to sit as he turned up the radio.
It was too staticy to hear anything at first but then Dan Heng adjusted a setting and an unfamiliar voice came through.
“She is… a fire character with a follow up attack-”
“Himeko!” Two voices yelled.
“What! You didn’t even let me finish, it could have been Guinaifen.”
“I don’t think she has a follow up attack though, I don’t think many Honaki Star Rail characters have overlapping characteristics.”
“Whatever, Y/n’s turn.”
“Ooo, what’s a good one.”
Jiaoqiu found himself leaning forwards in his seat to listen as they spoke. “Okay, this character is a Foxian-”
“Jiaoqiu,” came a cacophony of expectant voices.
“But they just said Foxian! We know plenty of Fox-”
“All I said was they were a Foxian! I didn’t even give you a gender!”
“That’s what I just said,” March exclaimed.
“Oh you wouldn’t shut up about him,” one of Y/n’s friend’s laughed. “He was announced and you said ‘damn he could give me a check up’.”
“I did not!”
The three trailblazers turned to the Foxian whose jaw was slack with surprise and cheeks were turning red. He cleared his throat awkwardly and raised his fan in front of his face, mumbling something about making sure it didn’t catch fire again.
“Yes, you did,” another one of their friends laughed. “Pull up a picture, pull up a picture!”
“Look at his ears, do you think he likes having them scratched?”
Caelus grabbed the fan and pulled it down, revealing a very red Jiaoqiu though he otherwise looked composed.
“Do you like having your ears scratched?” He asked.
“I see no point in giving you an answer, I’m not letting you touch my ears.”
“Damn he’s hot,” a new voice spoke up through the radio.
“He cooks too, king of the male wives,” Y/n said. “And his eyes, oh boy do they stare into your soul.”
March snickered, “King of the male wives.”
Though he may not be able to see anymore, Jiaoqiu turns in the direction he thinks is closest to looking her in the eye and glares. He’s off slightly, looking over her head, but it’s enough because she apologies
“And he’s all mine,” Y/n giggles. “Came home in forty pulls with no guarantee, baby!”
“Who came home, we doing pulls?”
“No, talking about Jiaoqiu.”
“Jiao- Oh damn… Please tell me he’s the new Genshin character.”
“He is not, he’s in Honkai Star Rail. His name is Jiaoqiu and he’s a doctor slash chef.”
“I am not a chef.”
“Actually he isn’t a practicing doctor anymore, very important lore.”
“Might have to start playing Star Rail just for him.”
Dan Heng sighed, “This feels like it’s going to go on for a while, maybe we should stop listening.”
“Ya… it was funny at first but now it’s just kind of awkward.”
“It could certainly be worse,” Jiaoqiu commented.
He honestly didn’t mind listening to them talk about him, especially as they went on about what drove him as a character. Sure, it was kind of weird… but he’d always thought of them like the Aeons and the Aeons were always watching.
Dan Heng turned off the radio, and Jiaoqiu excused himself to another cabin.
The cabin door had barely clicked shut when his phone chimed and he had it read out the message. It was from Dan Heng, and all it contained was a link to a private stream of them talking.
“And then, his whole goal is to cure Feixiao so that she can ‘cure’ war. I just, that man needs a hug…”
“Are you done?”
“Nope, have I mentioned how much I love playing him? He does all my simulated universe Nihility runs.”
