This is going to be a total shameless guilty pleasure drama for me . The storyline is a bit far fetche sometimes, it has the rinse and repeat storyline effect too and the main female lead can get annoying sometimes. But, and keyword here as being but, what made me want to keep watching and have the total giggles with the googlie eyes is the male lead, Yuan Hao, who’s beyond handsome plus charming, and sexy. He just nails his role in this and instantly makes up for the flaws in the show. (The costumes are by far my favorite in this) His character growth is probably my favorite in a long time. He’s just *sigh* a great character and the actor did him soooooo well. Like I mentioned above even though the female lead may have her faults she still has some great moments too especially in season 2, the chemistry is amazing between both of them. This is a cute fluffy pirate’y adventure romance. I throughly enjoyed this one immensely.

wait.. i’m literally on here or weibo almost 24/7 ( as you can tell lol ) but I feel like i missed something. i’m seeing clowning related to xz’s photos and how it looks like he is a groom and it’s a wedding photoshoot. the place is also famous for wedding shoots ( allegedly, idk. i’m not from there ) so turtles are imagining again. lol. freakin coincidence that wyb’s GRA photoshoot was done at a wedding shop. plus the “wedding outfits” for weibo night. which is all clowning and galaxy braining.🌌

now, we’re joking around, like where’s yibo? he should be taking photos with his partner.

then i see comments that there is this one song WYB recently listened to. meaning, as recent as when XZ flew to singapore which is called 超人不会飞 (superman can’t fly) by Jay Chou. i know WYB and everyone else is a big fan of Jay Chou but the clowning comes from the timing of when he listened to it. let me get to that first.

here is the song if you wanna listen to it. 🎶

turtles are interpreting it as WYB longing to “fly” to where XZ is and be with him but he can’t because of all his work commitments. he wants to take a breather. thinking about what his life is and the constraints, and at times like this, when they spent days in Beijing, but now they have to be apart, it affects him even more.

however when i read the lyrics, it could also be because he can relate to what jay chou is singing about. here’s the english translation i found here. i have bolded the ones i felt like WYB relates too. literally no need for explanation. just read it. It fits with his status in life so much that it’s almost scary.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with how cpfs are relating this to cpn cause that’s just how it is. But sometimes, there are other reasons why they do what they do.

SO MY CONFUSION COMES FROM HOW THE HELL DO PEOPLE KNOW WHAT HE RECENTLY LISTENED TO. I can’t seem to dig up how or maybe it’s something we don’t talk about. I have never experienced this kind of tidbit related to them before so I wanna know the source. Or is this like the gaming cpn where certain people know and they will not divulge the boy’s account for privacy? if anyone knows, feel free to comment. If i find out in the future, I will share.

fyi, the 1st Twilight movie is one of my favourite movies of all time. So, make of this comparison what you will.

Maybe this is my way of asking someone to write a vampire AU fic, the elements are all there. You can even make Qi Jia Hao the antagonist. I don't know where Jacob fits in this landscape, but he doesn't have much of a role in the 1st movie, so that shouldn't be an issue.

Summary:

Tang Sanzang, Sun Wukong, Zhu Bajie and Sha Wujing went to the west to learn scriptures, passing by Yangjia Village on the way. Seeing the thief Yang Xiaohu and his party members blocking the way and looting, Wukong went on a killing spree. Tang Seng reprimanded him, and said that if Wukong committed another crime, he would be expelled from the party. That night, monk Tang and his disciples stayed at Yang Bao's house, and met his son Xiaohu again. Unexpectedly, the son became a thief again, and wanted to steal everyone's luggage, but was killed by Wukong in the end. Tang Monk did what he said, and expelled Wukong, who only had to live temporarily in the purple bamboo forest. 

The Wolf Demon and the Bear Demon have been coveting the sweet-scented scent of Yang's daughter. Knowing that Wukong was expelled, they incited the powerful Six-Eared Macaque to pretend to be Wukong and rob the sweet-scented daughter and the Tang monk. Master Taiyi knew that the Tang monk was in great trouble, and he was ordered to Nezha save him. Nezha turned into the Six-Eared Macaque, provoked all the immortals, the demons, and saved the sweet-scented daughter. The Vixen Demon went to find the real Six-Eared Macaque to settle the score, but the real Six-Eared Macaque couldn't figure out why, knowing that there must be a fake pretending to be him, so he stole the treasure from Yuanshi Tianzun to get the advantage in the situation. 

Where to ask for Guanyin, and borrow the treasure Bird Spirit to fight against the Six-Eared Macaque. Bajie and Wujing joined the battle, but they were still defeated. At this time, Guanyin together with Tang Seng and Wukong arrived, Wukong was furious, and raised a stick to wipe out all the demons. After the demons were calmed down, monk Tang and his disciples embarked on the road of learning scriptures again.

Wang Chuan Feng Hua Lu (忘川风华录) Masterpost

Wang Chuan Feng Hua Lu (忘川风华录) is a Vocal synth (Vocaloid and SynthV) music project. It consists of songs themed around different figures throughout Chinese history. The project is a collaboration between different artists and creatives, with music and videos featuring prominent traditional Chinese elements. The project's title translates to "The Records of Magnificence of the Wangchuan" - In Chinese mythology, "Wangchuan" (or River of Forgetting) is a river in the Underworld that can rid one of their past life's memories, similar to the river Lethe.

A mobile game adaptation has also been developed by NetEast. Unfortunately, I haven't played it so I can't give much insight on it. However, I assume that its premise is similar to that of the idea behind the project as a whole: all these historical figures meeting each other in the Underworld after they died. Maybe.

Falling Into Your Smile (你微笑时很美) 

Finally back to writing reviews. I’ve watched many shows since the last time I wrote a review but I was just too lazy to take notes on the episodes and how I felt. I re-watched this show a whole month ago but didn’t get to write the review because I fell into a slump. I’m back though. This show is super popular because it has Xu Kai as the male lead, and honestly, I enjoyed this show a lot the first time I watched it. However, after rewatching the show I can say I still enjoyed the show, yet, I wouldn’t say it was super crazy good like how I felt watching Amidst a Snowstorm of Love and Love Me, Love My Voice, etc. The characters were fun to watch, the plot was all about e-sports (which I actually really enjoyed), but I felt like it was missing something to make the show better.

Synopsis:

All-male ZGDX e-sports team loses a player due to a hand injury. They need to choose a replacement for the team. 

Tong Yao is a popular female gamer who is known for her skill but also recklessness. She got into gaming through her ex-boyfriend who ended up abandoning her for the OPL world. The manager of ZGDX, Xiao Rui, messages Tong Yao an invite into recruiting her for the team. At first she is not welcomed by the team, especially Lu Si Cheng. However, as they continue to interact and live at the base, she forms a closer bond with the team and an even closer bond with Lu Si Cheng, the captain of ZGDX. 

This drama was adapted from the web novel “You’re Beautiful When You Smile” (你微笑时很美) by Qing Mei (青浼).

What Episode did the Main Couple Start Dating?

OMg. They literally take a whole third of the show just to establish the fact they are dating. They are officially together in Episode 21.

I don’t mind slow burns, and in this case it was fine because there is a lot of plot in this show in terms of gaming and the e-sports world. There is also just a lot of hesitation between the two, as her ex-boyfriend, Jiang Yang, was also an e-sports professional gamer and they lost contact because of it, and therefore, she originally didn’t want to have a relationship with anyone in the same field. She also hesitates as the fandom is highkey crazy and a lot of people were convinced they were already dating before, and were already shit-talking Tong Yao for “seducing” Si Cheng. 

Si Cheng asks Tong Yao very casually in episode 20 if she wants to try, and she asks “try what?” and he says, me. LOLOLOLOL I almost died here. In episode 21, she thinks he was joking, and was very indecisive on what to do but she almost confessed in a previous episode so I don’t know what she was hesitating for. She then accepts him later in this episode. 

Misunderstandings?

They have a misunderstanding in Episode 17 after Tong Yao gets into a fight at an event with another lady who was in charge of that event. She pushes the lady and that lady makes a whole video accusing Tong Yao of physically hurting her and it goes viral. Tong Yao gets banned for one game. During this time, Si Cheng isn’t talking to her and Tong Yao is butt- hurt about it. He explains later on in Episode 18. 

There’s also another time in Episode 26 where Si Cheng is acting cold and distant with Tong Yao after the harmful package incident with Tong Yao. He ignores her and acts cold with her for days. In Episode 27, Tong Yao asks Si Cheng if they’re breaking up because he’s been cold, however, he consoles her and tells her he’s just angry at himself that he can’t protect her. 

Love Triangles?

LOOOOOOOOOL This show is essentially a harem. Every captain from almost every team loves Tong Yao akjsndkfjsdfs. It was kinda funny. But jokes aside. There really isn’t a love triangle at all. 

Jiang Yang tries to get Tong Yao back, however, she was very set in stone that she wouldn’t take him back. She explains to Jiang Yang that the reason she doesn’t want to get back with him is because he never treated her as someone who could walk alongside him. 

Another funny character who was obsessed with Tong Yao was Kun from FNC, he was soooo funny. I laughed the whole time his character appeared on screen. He just felt like comedic relief tbh. 

Second Leads Romance

OMGGGG. Ai Jia and Jin Yang were so fun to watch honestly. Zhou Yi Ran. my love. My obsession. My fav c-drama actor. Akjsndfkjsnkdfs. Zhou Yi Ran playing Ai Jia was a delight to watch. The first time I watched him was in When I Fly Towards you and his character is so different in Falling Into Your Smile. Their romance was different, but honestly, very true. Jin Yang had no interest in the world of e-sports but she supported Ai Jia throughout it. She ended up buying his team too LOL. and she helped him reconnect with his mom again after she kicked him out for wanting to be a professional e-sports gamer. 

Falling Into Your Smile Ending

Falling Into Your Smile has a happy ending where they win at the finals thanks to Tong Yao. Then, we watch Ai Jia and Jin Yang get married and Tong Yao catches the bouquet. It was a typical sweet ending. 

Falling Into Your Smile Review- A Fun Romance between Gamers

I gave this show a 7.5/10. I enjoyed it thoroughly as it was a fun show to watch with e-sports, friendship, romance, conflicts, etc. If I’m being completely honest the reason why I can’t rate the show any higher is because I just felt the show was mediocre at best. I don’t know how to explain it. I was happy when the main leads got together, and honestly, some of the conflicts were fun to watch and I understood how they dealt with it. However, it was just a fun watch. I can't say that I was obsessed and eager to finish the show. I think the reason I couldn’t enjoy this show to the fullest was because Cheng Xiao’s acting in this show was mediocre at best. She kind of always had a poker face throughout the show aksjbfksds.

The e-sports plot was fun to watch and I did really enjoy that part of the show as this was my first time seeing a plot like this. The fandom being crazy for the guys were super real, the chronic injuries that professional e-sports gamers face was shown, the stigma of being a professional gamer was also explored. I really appreciated and enjoyed these arcs in the story. 

Falling Into Your Smile is a fun watch where you see pro-gamers explore the world of romance, team bonding, dealing with societal stigmas on gaming, etc. I did enjoy the show and it was a cute, fun watch and I didn’t regret the time I took to watch it.

What makes a prince/princess adopted by a concubine? In Yanxi, after Jia Fei's fall, Gao Guifei suddenly showed a huge interest in the boy, who later ended up with Xian Fei. In Ruyi we also have Ling Fei who was demoted to the position of Daying(?) and her daughter was adopted by Ying Fei. This made me believe that all the children of low-ranking concubines like Changzai and Daying were adopted by some other concubine, but then two situations made me think about the issue of their adoptions:

1. Hierarchy: while watching Yanxi I was completely sure that Jia fei's son would be adopted by Gao guifei instead of Xian fei because I thought the hierarchy was taken into consideration, both consorts didn't have children so I thought the criteria The tiebreaker would be their position.

2. Neglect: In Empresses in the Palace, Hongli was disadvantaged as his mother was a maid and died before being favored by the Emperor, he was in the summer palace at that time when he and Zhen Huan first met. As I watched Empresses in the Palace after Yanxi, the first thing that came to my mind was "well, why wasn't he adopted in the meantime?". In Ruyi the same thing, Yonghuang had to make a scene for the emperor to think "yeah, I think he needs a mother"

Hongli being neglected was just a plot device in Zhen Huan and gives an excuse for Zhen Huan to adopt him later. In reality, if Yong Zheng has recognised Hongli as his son, he would have been given to one of the higher ranking consorts to raise, not shunned off like a dirty secret like that, because hiding him away makes it scandalous, not the fact that he had a child with a maid. When Hongli was born, Yong Zheng was still a prince, it would have been even easier to pass him off as one of his concubines’ son. If anything Kangxi would probably insist on it since you can neglect the mother after the child was born but to neglect a male child like that would not have gone down easily, especially when it wasn't like Yinzhen had dozens of living sons at the time. There was no reason for the existence of Hongli to be such a scandal at all. It just is because the drama needed this plot device. 

But yes lower ranking concubines would probably not raise their own children and the children would be given to higher ranked consort but most like that would be framed as for the good of the child - i.e. it’s better to be seen as Consort X’s adopted son than Changzai Y’s son. Actually which consort would get to raise the child probably depends on who the emperor prefers or who has the actual time (because higher ranking consorts might be occupied with helping the empress run the palace). 

In reality, even higher ranking consorts might still have their children raised by other people, like Ling Fei in real life. This is probably to limit the influence of the birth mother on the child and stop her from accumulating power. And also someone like Ling Fei who had 6 children in 10 years, having her children raised by other consorts also takes away some of the burdens of childcare off her/her servants so that they could take better care of her while she’s perpetually pregnant.
