About me:

Hi, I'm Alyson Whitney.

I am a passionate American artist who fell in love with design, while studying art in Italy. Today, I design and hand-craft celebratory pet urns.

My work is dedicated to my cat that was struck, and killed by a car one afternoon - right in front of me. He lost his life on April 11, 2004. I was devastated - my heart shattered into a thousand pieces. Cremated, he was return to me in a small black urn. The fragments of my heart that I had just begun to pick up and mend hand broken again. If you knew him, he was anything but dark and dull. He was full of life and a crazy cat.

Desperate to put an end to the hurt, I painted his urn (my first) in tears but by the time I finished, I found closure and a smile returned to my face. There was a strange feeling of contentment in what I had created for both him and myself. My heart began to heal, and at that moment I knew I could help others ease the pain of grief and loss and find closure through my art. I quit my job a a successful creative director for a public company to pursue my quest to combine my passions: art and animals - and unknowingly, a third passion - returning smiles to peoples' faces.

As an animal lover and mommy to many furry munchkins, the circle of life is endless in my life. A loss is so very hard. Isnt' it? I totally understand and can help.

I'm not a healer nor therapist, by me lending an ear and listening to what clients have to say, I believe healing begins and ideas flourish for a special work of art. When clients receive their final piece and I hear how they smiled again, it warms my heart knowing I helped someone through on of the most difficult times of their life. That's an amazon feeling.

The Sweetiegems (Sweetypies as Gems)

Hi, I saw this response post of yours (https://daarin-nekoneko.tumblr.com/post/619763097586024449/thoughts-on-a-hypothetical-version-of-adorabat) and I wanted to expand on that with you and see what you think.

For every named Sweetypie, I wrote for each of them a list of a number of different kinds of gems that they physically look like the most. Since there's more than one kind of gem for each Sweetypie, feel free to choose any one of them that you feel matches best:

I was also thinking that the Sweetypies would look different, not just in color but also in texture and structural compositions. Maybe their physical appearance would be designed in a way that you can tell they're a gemstone (or a colored rock, at least) from looking at them up close with the light's reflection.

Who knows? It might be the Jewelpet-like crossover story/idea you never knew you wanted.

* On an additional note, you'd think Mao Mao and Badgerclops would have a real bad headache continually trying to piece these little people back together every time they crack and/or shatter from monster attacks or hurting themselves and each other...(mostly when it comes to Adorabat)

This is amazing!! I can definitely tell you've put a lot of thought into this concept! And you're definitely right, a few of these gemstones I've never heard of! (Unfortunately that make finding metaphysical stuff for them near impossible, lol)

Now, after 4 days of research, here's my thoughts on which gem could go with which Sweetypie and why:

Adorabat: Aquamarine (Stone of Courage, Inner power and fearlessness, encourages perception and clarity of thought, safe travel over water, promotes verbal self-expression, aids in assimilating knowledge, encourages growth and intuition, calms fears and worries) or Jeremejevite (Encourages self-respect and personal well-being, stimulates psychic powers, recovery from loss, helps deal with change, helps self-worth and sense of purpose, boosts morale and energy, has strong power despite its small size, plus it also comes in yellow)

The first thing I could think of regarding the Sweetypies' appearances being more gem-like is the Crystal Ponies from Friendship is Magic, which have translucent fur and facet-shaped markings on their bodies, which I think would fit well!

Dang, I bet that'd get frustrating after a while, especially since they have big hands and the Sweetypies are so tiny. Wonder what Adorabat's dad would think if he heard she almost shattered so many times while fighting monsters? Would this universe's version of shattering be similar to Steven Universe's shattering - the Sweetypie is still alive and aware but unable to move? Geez, I accidentally made that dark, sorry.

Speaking of Mao Mao and Badgerclops, I had them pegged as Imperial Jade (Devotion, ambition, courage, generosity, justice, banishes evil spirits, sacred in China) and Spectrolite (Transformation, stimulates creativity, calms restlessness, banishes fears and insecurities, strengthens faith in the self) respectively
