I feel like this could work, *especially in JSRF*. I'm hoping it can work in the new game as well.

I've recently drawn doodles of this idea to see how this would work. On paper. But there's also this:

I'd imagine that you'd unlock him post game, there would be a secret way to get him.

Passer-byes might ignore his presence or comment on a "cold breeze", because of his body not able to touch, hold and feel some things. This might give him an advantage as certain entities just go through him.

I don't know if he'll take damage to enemies or do graffiti, heck, even trying to equip the graffiti spray.

I had this idea of Beat's shades in JSR3 changing colors depending on his emotion. If I knew how to animate, the lenses would change color like this:

In Jet Set Radio, Beat could "blink" the soundwave pattern on his goggles. In Jet Set Radio Future, he was supposed to be able to bend the spikes of his headphones when he smirked. I want JSR3 Beat to do something quirky with his accessories, too.

The toxic positivity from the sonic fandom is really starting to leak into the Jet set radio one. Yes, it's amazing we finally have a new game coming but fans should still be allowed to express their criticism. Many fans including myself were hoping that the new JSR would have cel-shaded graphics instead of the realistic look seen in the trailer. Jsr's comic book aesthetic was a huge part of its charm so it's disappointing that Sega discarded it for something else. It just feels like all games nowadays are trying to look the same instead of being boldly different/avant-garde. I'm tired of fans telling everyone else we should just be grateful for what we got. That mindset is why Sonic has a whole dumpster worth of mediocre games.

Bomb rush cyberfunk did a much better job at capturing JSR's art direction from its first trailer alone. I'm sure the final product will still be good but it's a shame to Sega throw away the Y2K aesthetic.

how do you feel about jsr3's new look?

Oh boy. I’m mixed on the game’s look right now. Sorry if this is long…

Like, it has stylization, like the shadows having a bit of hatching…

…And the backgrounds have a chromatic abrasion and halftone dots.

The characters are cel-shaded! I even think they have an outline! …It’s very thin, but it’s there!

It’s mainly the character models. Not the designs, those range from great to good enough. I believe it's the realistic proportions and detail that are throwing people off. Being able to make out all those wrinkles and folds. His face looks ill-fitting against the rest of his model.

It’s all a little too reminiscent of Robotnik from Sonic 06. Realism dressed cartoonish.

For me, they’re just THIS close to the uncanny valley. For others, they’re already in it.

It feels like an SBK: Snowboard Kids situation. These designs are good by themselves. But when compared to prior entries? They just look off. Doesn’t help that they have to share elements from prior designs.

Look, we decide for ourselves who’s right and who’s wrong. I always try to be optimistic and sympathetic, even when I really shouldn't. But the fact we debate at all, to this degree, is concerning in itself.

Luckily, it's early in development. Sega can address fan issues. They (probably) still have time! …If Sega gives them time, which they historically never do. But hey! It’s a “new era”!!

My predictions for the new upcoming JSR game

[WARNING: CONTAINS SPOILERS FROM LEAKS]

Coin will reappear and be a SECRET playable character - He might die or not, we'll just have to see.

Alternate colour palettes and outfits - I feel like some of them would be important to whatever lore is about to come up, e.g a jester outfit for Beat with details somewhat reminiscent of someone else...

Finally getting an explanation why Beat's trait is 'failure' - I feel like the reason would be so wild, no one is going to handle it.

Going to the afterlife? Hell? Demon realm? - We're gonna get sucked up like a vacuum into a portal and the screen blacks out, and then we end up in the D e m o n R e a l m.

I won't elaborate - Beat eats a spider or something eats Beat.

The Wish - I have a few ideas of this. The wish might depend on what character you're playing as resulting in different endings, OR Beat's wish would make the world have a spasm. Kouya/Koya? would be having his wish accidentally ruin all of Tokyo Island.

Noise Tank rivalry - Whenever the Noise Tanks and the GG's interact, Beat's interactions would be gay.

Romeo and Juliet - Biz falls in love with a Poison Jam member and it will be comically tragic.

Haha very funni - Yoyo will make the weirdest puns or jokes that the background can't decide over a laugh track or complete silence.

Counter Attack! - The GGs will counter the Black Book with... something...

Hello handsome - A new character will make Beat question his sexuality.

For Tokyo Island and Jet Set Radio - In a very climactic point, Rudies, Gangs and the GG's team up to go fight and save Tokyo Island.
