Through the memeification of "bimbo" and "bimbofication" people have, ironically, started to use "bimbo" as a pejorative again. Which is not only annoying but surely unintentional and counterproductive to the goals of these people who have decided to "reclaim" bimboism.
It makes me want to shoot myself.
Having a bimbo fetish and being into bimbofication used to be easy because actually calling people "bimbos" became so outdated that there was a general understanding that "bimbo" meant porn and "bimbo" meant fetish. But now, because of these memes, because of Chrissy Chalpecka -- "bimbo" means a woman that likes pink now. It means a woman that's attractive. It means infantilizing grown adults who make mistakes and reducing them to helpless "blorbos".
Congratulations, dumbasses! We're officially using "bimbo" as a way to dehumanize real human beings and fictional characters again. Somebody call Jessica Hahn!
You couldn't let us just have our porn, could you? Now its 1987 again. You know how fucking insane it is to call a real live human being a "bimbo" icon to their face because of how they look? Or because they like the color pink? How fucking daft, are you? I've seen people call Dolly Parton a bimbo icon, Dolly Parton, and claim Legally Blonde is a "bimbo movie" because Elle wears pink and like fashion. You know how offensive that is? How besides the point that is? The film's fucking thesis statement is "Elle is not a bimbo". She has a 4.0 GPA before she even decides to go to Harvard, you missed the fucking point. Same goes for "himbo". If you think it's appropriate to call your actual partner you're in a relationship a "himbo", you should be punched in the fucking face. It's not cute, its not endearing, you might as well call them "my little fucking dumbass I think of as (and probably treat like) a pet because I think I'm obviously so much better than them". Get a fucking grip, man.

Esquire Magazine, January 1988. Featuring actress Beverly D'Angelo as Jessica Hahn, Fawn Hall, Tammy Faye Bakker, and Donna Rice.
Did my best to recreate/restore the "Free! Special Commemorative Bimbo Poster" found inside.
It's victim blame-y and mean spirited as hell but, as far I can tell, the basis for our modern conception of what a "bimbo" is. While the word was used to refer to promiscuous but dim-witted women as far back as 1920, it didn't see a resurgence and enter popular lexicon until the late 80s and early 90s, being used to demean and degrade the women caught in cheating and sexual misconduct scandals with politicians and other prominent "leaders" fronting an upstanding image. These women were largely young, naive, and evocative of the fashion sense of their times -- that's to say, it was impossible for the public to take them seriously. Regular young women with big hair, regular aspirations, and regular interests were suddenly thrust into the spotlight of a political world they were unprepared for -- and because of that, they were reduced to nothing but unintelligent sex by the press. It didn't help of course that sometime these scandals would buoy these young women to brief careers in entertainment or give them access, allowing them to profit off their notoriety.
I think, until this time the image and aesthetic of the bimbo had never been fully solidified. It had always been used to insultingly refer to a woman as, essentially, dumb and loose. But I believe it probably wasn't until the late 80s and early 90s that the aspect of "looking dumb" came into play too. An assumption of stupidity fostered by excessive femininity, youth, and, well, misogyny. I believe this is part of where the idea of a bimbo looking fake stems from. Part of the reason why these women weren't taken seriously was because of their makeup, dress, and most likely -- bodies as well. Not to mention the plastic surgery boom of the 90s which happened somewhat concurrently leading to a lot of women looking ridiculous, ie, "dumb".
There's also since been heavy and almost immediate conflation with the dumb blonde trope, which existed centuries before any and all political "bimbo eruptions". What people fail to realize is that the dumb blonde trope is mostly one of innocence and naivete. It's not inherently sexual nature while bimbos are always sexual. The reason so many dumb blondes characters are portrayed as sexy women is incidental. Blondes have been seen as especially special, and sexy, for a long time just as the dumb blonde trope has existed for a long time combining the two is a... ugh, no-brainer. But you'll be hard-pressed to find many of those sexy dumb blonde characters that are actually slutty or even express significant sexual interest rather than be portrayed as an innocent.
