Lake - Infinity Train (non-canon)

it's not canon but you cannot tell me that Lake isn't an allegory for trans/nb people. her arc is so beautiful and her character resonates with me so much!

i have to admit, i actually kinda hated her in the beginning because of how aggressive and rude she was, but she actually gets good character development and you can also understand why she was the way she was, being a good representation of a minority who is constantly suffering because of the social norms she’s forced into. also i don’t ship her with jesse but i do like the idea of them in a qpr or just being platonic besties.

(i use she/her pronouns for Lake because that's what they use in the series, but also because not all non-binary people use they/them, and it's kinda weird to see people insist on using they/them for Lake just because she's nb-coded. she has never shown an aversion to bring referred to with she/her pronouns.)

Le Chevre x El Topo - Carmen Sandiego (canon)

they are side characters who don't play a huge role in the narrative but they are a really cute couple and have been confirmed to be canon! even without the confirmation, it’s clear that they were written to be a romantic couple.

mild spoiler: after the series ends, they stop being antagonists and instead put up a food truck together! it’s the cutest thing, i swear

Ryan x Min-gi - Infinity Train (non-canon)

my OTP through and through! i say non-canon but the romance is so heavily implied, you cannot ignore it.

they're a good example of childhood friends who had a complicated relationship where both individuals did something wrong, but in the end, they grow as people and manage to mend their relationship together.

Moomin x Snufkin - Moominvalley (canon)

i have only read one of the books and watched a few clips of these two characters but from that alone, it's clear that they were written as lovers (and the author is queer too!)

they are a beautiful portrayal of long-distance relationship where both individuals have different needs in life, but still want to be with each other regardless.

Terrestrius / Terry - The Dragon Prince (canon)

Terry is canonically transmasc and they actually manage to explain this in the series, without making it sound too forced or expository. he's such a sweetheart too, and his relationship with Claudia is actually really sweet, despite the fact that she's one of the villains.

Carmen x Julia - Carmen Sandiego (non-canon)

again, i say non-canon but it is heavily implied that they have feelings for each other, especially in the extra interactive episode, where Carmen leaves a bouquet of red roses for Julia, and Julia is shown to blush when receiving them.

Amaya x Janai - The Dragon Prince (canon)

what’s that? it’s actually possible to write an enemies to lovers romance that is healthy and not extremely abusive?

Amaya and Janai have such a good relationship in S5 (and Amaya is also a great disabled representation!) Janai actually learns sign language to communicate with Amaya, and there are no unnecessary miscommunication plots or drama, they’re just a really loving wlw couple.

Benson x Troy - Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts (canon)

when i say we need more mlm ships in animated media!! i’m so glad us sapphics are getting a lot of representation but it’s time cartoons started including more queer men.

benson and troy are just a really sweet couple with a good relationship that doesn’t have a ton of pining or unnecessary angst. while i love complex and tragic queer relationships, i also think that it’s good to show teenagers just being teenagers sometimes.

this opinion seems to be scarce in the queer community, which really annoys me tbh.

Raine x Eda - The Owl House (canon)

i cannot believe that given the popularity of TOH, Raeda is still such an overlooked ship. this might be an unpopular opinion but Raeda is better written and has more chemistry than Lumity and Huntlow.

just within the span of Raine's introductory episode, they managed to establish a clearly romantic past between these two characters, and also an interesting dynamic. and even though they didn't have much screentime, they still turned out to be the best ship in the series. (again, just my opinion, don't come at me)

i think it's so important to show older queer people in media, just as it is important to show younger queer characters. it helps establish the fact that queerness has always existed and isn't some newfound trend that social media invented. not to mention, raeda is one of the very few canon ships that include a non-binary character.

These incompetent showrunners really went in for the kill with Aegon II's character assassination

I know this has been said over and over again already but I am actually truly amazed at how far the showrunners/writers went to completely assassinate Aegon's character to make sure that he is portrayed in the worst possible way. As this has already been highlighted numerous times, he is characterised even worse than Mushroom's degenerate description of him in Fire and Blood. They really went as far as presenting us with a caricature, a monstrosity that cannot be believable to be human.

This claim of wanting to make a grey character out of this mustache-twirling villain stereotype they have created to put up against a heroic Disney princess, is just an insult to audiences who came in to watch an actual intelligent and well-written show.

I have never seen such blatant character assassination disguised as some profound creation of a grey character.

In this inconsistent fanfiction seemingly made for the glorification of Saint Perfect Girlboss Rhaenyra, her direct foil and opponent Aegon II is made to be:

A sexual deviant, masturbating out of a widow in his teenage years, and maybe a pedophile (with that ridiculous sentence from the Brothel Madam in the horrendous episode 9).

A bully, mercilessly bullying his younger brother  Aemond.

A rapist, of course! How best to destroy a male character in this day and age if not by making him an obvious rapist! And then they want to talk about complex characterisation? LOL! Sara Hess knew what she was doing here.

Of course, a sadist who enjoys watching brutal children's fights (also including his own bastards) in a pit - the epitome of a laughingly cringe tentative to paint a character as the ultimate villain.  

An abusive husband to his sister-wife, obviously! let's just pile on, shall we, even when nothing in the text in F&B suggests or supports any such claim.

A coward, willing to abandon his family and his dragon (his pride) to sail away and hide, leaving them at the mercy of Daemon and Rhaenyra's whims and wishes - the complete opposite of his character in F&B!

A great work of destruction indeed!  All of these are just blatant and obvious willingness from these showrunners/writers to obliterate his characterisation in order to prop up Saint Girlboss Rhaenyra, but nothing makes my blood boil more than the multiple sexual deviances (the abject rapist characterisation being the worst offender), and the implied abusive relationship with Haleana they completely created in order to drive home how awful Aegon is supposed to be seen as opposed to the complete whitewashed version of their favorite girlboss. Maybe next season, Aegon will be shown to be someone who loves torturing puppies, who knows?

And even when the actor TGC made his concern well known, those amateurish writers just brushed it aside, while someone who is on record for saying that she has not even bothered to watch Game of Thrones (the incompetent Sara Hess) decided to tarnish and destroy his character even more by claiming to want to make it more like GoT. Absolute joke this one!

I just recently read something about how Jesse Amstrong (Succession) listened to Arian Moayed (playing Stewy Hosseini) and respected his decision to not be depicted as a typical bad representation of Iranians in Western media and this just made me realise even more how inept HotD showrunners/writers are at taking into consideration valid concerns from one of their own actors.

Overall, HotD has just been a massive disappointment on the writing side. The writing is cringe and horrendous, making it just an expensive CW-level show with a bigger budget. A huge letdown and an absolute travesty of the book characters.

I just read Jaden in 5DS era AU and I want to know if that is part of the Yugi adopts Jaden AU or Canon Jaden.

Also about BBT in the Jaden Muto AU, what is Jaden feeling the entire time? It isn't everyday you team up with the younger self of your dad XD

The 5Ds era Au will probably be cannon Jaden.

I want it to be approachable to any reader. The Yugi Adopts Jaden au is going to have a lot going on in it already.

I also haven’t decided if Jaden will go home at the end of that Au. I think Jesse will come forward in time and they will join the 5Ds crew going forward. And if that is the ending, Jaden gaining new friends and now the “Robin” of the crew. Then I don’t know if I want to connect it to Yugi adopts Jaden since Jaden won’t come home. He’d miss having like 30 years with his dads and that’s super sad.

But let’s focus on your second question.

In the Yugi adopts Jaden Au the bonds beyond time movie is wild.

Because Jaden is currently traveling the globe. Helping out where needed and just finding himself again. He hears that Zane/Syrus’s cyber dragon has been stolen and he’s looking for it, when Jesse calls. Rainbow Dragon has been taken. That is not something Jaden can allow to happen.

Personally I love the idea that Jesse actually met up/ran into Jaden in Venice. Maybe he was looking for his friend. Maybe he was there for a tournament and bumped into Jaden. Maybe they arranged to meet there or Jesse was surprising his friend. (I’ve read some great fics like this)

Either way Jesse is with Jaden when Rainbow Dragon is stolen. Jaden watches as Jesse loses a member of his family and swears to get it back, rushing off before Jesse can follow.

By the time Jesse catches up the square is already destroyed and Jaden is already with Yusei.

But back to topic.

In this au Jaden mets Yusei and everything goes according to plan, until they travel back in time and met Yugi.

Holy cow is this weird for Jaden. That’s his Dad!! But he’s young and the millennium puzzle hangs around his neck and Jaden knows what that means. This is back when Yugi and Atem shared a body.

But Yugi is crying because Grandpa is dead? And the whole square blew up. Jaden’s head is spinning. Gramps can’t be dead! No that’s not right. Gramps had just called him not even a week ago and the old man was still as sharp as ever. He couldn’t be dead.

Worse this is Yugi before he adopted Jaden. Jaden didn’t know it at the time, but now that he’s the same age that Yugi was when he adopted him Jaden understands how much Yugi sacrificed to take him in. To be his dad. And he knows a lot of that was only possible because of Gramps. Sure things changed when Oto-san and Dad got married but earlier on it was Yugi and Solomon taking care of him. Atem to after he adjusted to living in the modern era.

If Gramps died then would Yugi even be able to take Jaden in? Would they even meet? And he feels awful for think it. After all he shouldn’t be thinking about himself right now. But his whole reality depends on this one going right.

Plus he hates seeing his dad cry.

Paradox had stolen Jesse’s family member, killed Jaden’s great grandpa and made his dad cry. Jaden’s going after him with all he has.

The duel itself is awesome. Dueling along side Yugi and stem when they shared a body is so weird yet also one of the coolest things ever because he can see both their strategies at play and how the seamlessly blend them.

Yusei is an amazing duelist to and Jaden is honestly having the time of his life fighting beside them. He’s going to have to make it a goal to meet Yusei again.

They win and Jaden gets returned to his time (successfully) and says goodbye to Yusei. (They will met again)

He mets up with Jesse to return Rainbow Dragon and tell him about his adventure. While doing so he realizes he needs to call to people. He calls grandpa first just because he wants to make sure the old man is alright. (He’s just fine and over joyed to hear from Jaden) second he calls his dad and Uncle Atem.

He tries to dance around it but the both just laugh and say that they remember him. It’s really weird. They didn’t have these memories before today. But whatever alternate reality Jaden and Yusei had stopped from happening by meeting up with Yugi must have merged with their own.

Yugi didn’t seek Jaden out because of their duel against paradox. Their meeting was complete accident or fate depending on how you want to see it. But now that he has those memories he, Jaden and Atem can all discuss the duel and Yusei.

Jessica and her family are American but Moved to London after her Father was transferred because he worked in the Wizarding Military Force under the Ministry. She grew up in Georgia and has a slight southern accent. They were in London long enough for both of her older siblings to attend Hogwarts and also be sorted into Slytherin but Jess didn't have magic yet. Her brother is 9 years older than she is and her sister is 7 years older than her. They eventually were transferred BACK to the USA where Jessica continued to grow up and attend Ilvermorny for only a couple of months before they were ultimately transferred BACK AGAIN to London where she started 5th year at Hogwarts, which was her very first year of having magic (she's a late bloomer) *Hints* opening game where she doesn't have a wand of her own, and is incredibly surprised by the amount of magic she sees at Hogwarts where she obviously meets Sebastian and Ominis who become her (truely real) best friends.

Usually found: in the undercroft learning how to play gobstones with the 2 Slytherin boys, sneaking into the kitchens after hours cuz she internal chonk, sneaking into the restricted section with Sebastian, in the front garden at the summoners court or in the clock tower participating in crossed wands. Sometimes in Feldcroft with Ominis taking care of Sebastian after his uncle dies suddenly and mysteriously 👀 (Sebastian technically owns the property after that)

Future career: Ancient Artifact Collector, (claims ownership of Borgin and Burkes later on) and Healer of sorts.

Meet Alfhild, an OC I've been fussing at for a while who lives in @authorjessowen's Summer King universe. I've been littering Jess's Discord server with story snippets for ages now and I've only just finally got Alf's colors nailed down. Chazz Princeton/Jun Manjome for that ask game

Why I like them/why I don’t:

MANJOUMMEEE THANDAAAAAAHHHHHH

I actually really like him, he's the true Judai rival in my heart (move over Edo). He's actually a very fun parallel to Judai not only as a rival but as a character, because we see how he's consumed by a NEED to win early on driven by his family and insecurities compared to Judai whose basically on a winning hot streak early on without realizing just how much his victories are ruining other peoples lives.

His arc is also really good side-by-side with Judai, as both of them have similar coming-of-age arcs, specifically dealing with acceptance and taking responsibility for their immaturity (Judai with Yubel and Manjoume with his attitude and Duel Monsters in general)

What I like about their appearance: The man with the wildest yugioh hair without any of the poison frog coloration attached. Outside of zexal he is the closest to having dragon ball hair in yugioh

Do I prefer their dub names or original names?: Im a yugioh sub only guy but CHHHAZZZZZZ PRINCETON! GET READY TO GET CHHAZZZEEDD is really fun

OTP: Judai ig. not really that crazy of a shipper

NOTP: none notable but also weird how in gx they had like 90% of the main cast have a crush on Asuka and then they just like. forgot lol.

Hudson and Rex S03E08 - Sleeping Beauty

Okay episode which gets good with character interactions. In fact, I don't really get bored with S3 up until the end where they put some lackluster episodes.

You see one kid being mean to the other, then a minute later you cut to an interaction between parents and you realize why.

These parents are awful.

Charlie: "You have never seen a fairytale before?" Sarah: "I have, except I find them all insufferably sexist". Charlie: "Well, they offer historical context". Do they? Because I don't remember dragons in my history books. Anyway, I'm with Sarah on this one and luckily I didn't grow up with them.

It is interesting, however, that Charlie seems to know quite a bit about these things. I distinctly remember no boy would ever be convinced to sit down and watch these movies.

Sweet potato jerky? Why does that sound so tasty? It's a dog treat.

This is just an excuse to get Sarah home.

Have I mentioned yet on this rewatch that Charlie must be taking kickbacks to be able to afford a house like that? No?

See? Instead of reacting to Jesse's antics, react to the fact that your detective and your head of forensics (your? I have no clue) are playing house instead of being anywhere near the precinct.

"Rex is a detection dog. His alerts establish reasonable suspicion to search". Well, thank you, Sarah. Charlie never actually explained it. I wonder if this actually holds up.

I can actually imagine the writers at the start of the season trying to come up with a reasonable excuse for those searches based on Rex's nose. At some point, they might have even opened a law book. I don't think that it would hold up in court to say that a police dog smelled illegal substances and rule based on that but it might give probably cause for a search. All this changes depending on where one lives, though. And if they find something, well, then you have your proof right there. The whole gist of it is to make sure the search is legal so you don't jeopardize the entire case.

I think the lady's excuse that she's going through a brutal divorce actually did get a bit of a reaction from Charlie. Not that he'd give her the drugs back, of course.

I believe that a person having a perfectly good womb should be able to use that womb however they see fit, including getting paid to carry the baby of a couple that for whatever reason can't or won't do that. The law's intent should not be to police people's wombs but to make sure that children shouldn't be born and grown to be taken advantage of. So it should be legal in cases of parents who want to have a child, and illegal if for example one was to gather fifty women and grow children through surrogacy to take advantage of them (not the only example, just one I thought of). Taking advantage of your body's ability to carry children for monetary gain so that they can be ultimately raised in a proper family that wants them is not the same as taking advantage of children.

It's a good thing Sarah has an alternative plan to motherhood because I can see the future and I suspect it will take a long time.

Again, the case didn't grab me. But they spent sufficient time outside of the office and mostly in Charlie's new house that we just saw for the first time that I didn't mind.
