[Image description: A digital drawing of Jess from the film Triangle. The piece is comprised of different triangular sections, with Jess in the biggest central one. She is staring forward forlornly, mouth open slightly. She is heavily shadowed. Behind her, there's a stretch of the ocean and a sky with a few clouds. Theres a smudge of blood on her forehead, and she's sweating profusely. The two triangles above her show her hand aiming a shotgun and the hood of the film's killer respectively. Further below, there's a triangle which is a close-up of a mirror. Written in blood, it says "go to the theater", though not all of the text is visible. Jess is facing it. To the side of the main Jess drawing there's a sliver of a triangle showing a pile of unidentifiable corpses, all having similar colour schemes. They're drenched in blood. Between all of the sections there's blood red triangles, which drip inwards towards Jess. The colours are cold and desaturated, and the lineart is dark.]

Note
Let's play a tumblr game. Your ships are:
You/Sheev Palpatine (jk, you don't have to answer this one because I already know your feelings on this)
the main character of the last TV show you watched/the lead character of the last movie you watched
Kleya Marki/Jyn Erso
oh no, you gave me a challenge and I'll do the challenge!
Me/Sheev Palpatine:
Tumblr media
obviously he's the love of my life 💜 (in all honesty... let me marry him just so I can slit his throat at night and get it over with. bam, no one else dies, no one "somehow returns", everyone lives happily ever after. I save the star war)
last show I watched was Supernatural (listen... it's my comfort show 😭) and since it was a Dean-centric episode and he's my preferred brother, I'll choose him. the last movie was.... hmm, I had to check but it was Triangle (2009). the MC is played by Melissa George who genuinely looks like she just stepped out of Supernatural, and the plot of the movie would fit really well into an episode, so that's strangely perfect. (great movie btw, I recommend).
so Dean Winchester/Jess (Triangle):
Tumblr media
I could definitely see Dean going for her, and Jess reciprocating, but it's hard to say more without spoiling the movie so... I'll just say initially it makes sense, but it wouldn't work out.
Kleya/Jyn:
Tumblr media
it makes sense in a "we had a wild slightly antagonistic one night-stand years ago" kinda way, although I'll say Kleya does remind me of Cassian sometimes, so who knows... it could work!! not my favorite Jyn femslash ship, but I'm intrigued by the possibility
send me a ship and I'll classify it

Absolutely thrilled that readers are loving #SomethingTerribleHappenedLastNight!!
Thank you so much for posting!

Title : Something Happened Last Night
Author : @samblakebooks
Pages : 352
Genre : YA Thriller
Star Rating : 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Firstly id like to thank @samblakebooks and @gillbooks for not only gifting me the proof copy but also the final copy prior to publication day today. This is Sam's debut YA and i hope she will be writing another real soon.
Blurb :
It's Katie's 17th birthday - the dancefloor is packed, the drink is flowing and Rave-fess, the Raven's Hill School confession site, is alight with gossip. Then a huge fight breaks out, sending guests fleeing.
When Frankie, Jess and Sorcha go back to help Katie clear up her wrecked house before her parents get home, they find more than broken bottles ... There's a body on the living room floor.
The gripping teen thriller that will keep everyone guessing.
My thoughts :
I absolutely loved this story based in fictious Dublin secondary school Raven Hill. From the word go i instantly formed a bond with all of the main characters and their various life stories.
It covers all teen related topics such as love triangles and relationship issues,drug/alcohol use, pressure to conform, grief and loss aswell as how it can be difficult to be in an all girls school and all that comes with it.
I went to an all girls secondary school so i found the stories to be relatable in nature however the pressures and added hassle of social media didnt really come to the fore until the year of the leaving certificate in 2009. Now i feel old even writing this.
I read one of Sam's books earlier in the year but i think this YA has added a total new and exciting dynamic to her style and i really hope that we see it again real soon. I feel that id like another continuation story could be possible as id like to get an insight into what life has in store for the characters....

AN INDEPENDENT  WRITING BASED BLOG FOR JESS COLLINS FROM 2009's TRIANGLE . TRIGGERING CONTENT AHEAD. AS SLASHED BY COLE . TWENTY2+  ,⠀HE / HIM.
links .⠀ i. docs⠀    ii. pins⠀    iii. play
( a study in. )  *⠀ doomed by the narrative. destroying the sacrificial lamb. but you can't fight fate. and the never ending cycle.
Tumblr media
NOTES FOR PORTRAYAL .⠀ this a heavily personal adaption of jess that i do not take lightly.please , take kindly to reading this.
¹. the time paradox is of the triangle's creation replicating instances of each passenger's psyche , particularly tied to jess due to her cheating death twice and unbeknownst perception.
WHILE JESS DID SURVIVE THE CAR CRASH , ENTERING THE TRIANGLE WOULD RESTART THE CYCLE OF EVENTS LEADING TO THE MORNING'S INSIDENCE. JESS'S SON DID NOT DIE BEFORE THE FIRST CYCLE. ( jess' own intervention forces her out of the old cycle which is then punished ).
i will not , and do not , acknowledge jess' own treatment of her son, tommy. jess loves her son more than anything in the world and is willingly to do anything to break the cycle & see him again.
tw. jess suffered from domestic ab*se , but was able to leave and work as a waitress in miami in order to care for her son.

tonight's movie adventure was triangle (2009) which i watched because someone on reddit said it was one of the best movies of all time and. well. no it is not 😌 it had a ton of potential and i always appreciate horror movies that feel scary without needing any (or minimal) gore. i was really entertained for the first 45 minutes or so, but after that.... okay i'm not usually the type of person to be like "that's so stupid, why didn't you do _____?" to a horror movie character because i understand sometimes characters need to make illogical / emotional decisions that don't make practical sense in order to further the plot or say something about the character's personality, but oh my god i was feeling true confusion about the protagonist's choices here. NONE of them made sense. the twist ending couldn't save that 40 minute chunk of boring, repetitive, rage-inducing nonsense. but the acting was good, cinematography was good, idea was good, which makes this extra disappointing 😔
spoilers below for this random movie if you care fsjfksjd
i called half of the twist as soon as they mentioned sisyphus: that this boat is purgatory / a punishment for something jess did, since she's the only one who can remember the loop. i do wonder if the other passengers were being punished too? or if they're not real at all, just visages created by whatever force of nature set this whole thing up
i also wondered why jess was unwilling to kill herself time and time again, like WHY was she saving herself for last when she KNEW how the loop would end?? and then it clicked, that this is how she's cheating death and creating her own punishment, because even in this purgatory state, she just can't accept her death. she will always go back to the harbor because she can't and won't die.
i knew this eternal punishment had to have something to do with her son because of how often they brought him up. i thought it was weird that tommy, even if he had special needs, would go to school even on weekends? maybe that's a real thing but i've never heard of it. so i assumed she was leaving him home alone even though he couldn't take care of himself, and maybe he had drowned in that kiddie pool? i wasn't expecting her to be flat out physically and emotionally abusive tbh, but it makes sense. i'm not sure if they were trying to imply that she killed her son and put his body in the bag and then got in the car accident which killed her? or if he really did in the car too. idk. this movie wasn't good enough for me to be theorizing lmao

TRIANGLE (2009)
Genre - Mystery Thriller (UK)
Komen - Filem bergenre ‘time loop’ yang baik.

Post 0023
Steven Dale Green, Federal inmate 20848-058, born 1985, incarceration intake in 2009 at age 24, sentenced to life; deceased by assumed suicide 02/15/2014
Rape, Murder
As a US Army PFC, was indicted and convicted for his role in the Mahmudiyah rape and killings while in uniform.
Green, of Midland, Texas, was a private in the 101st Airborne Division based at Fort Campbell on the Kentucky-Tennessee state line when he deployed to Iraq. Green and three other soldiers went to the home of an Iraqi family in Mahmoudiya, near a traffic checkpoint in March 2006. At the home, Green shot and killed three members of the al-Janabi family before becoming the third soldier to rape 14-year-old Abeer Qassim al-Janabi before killing her. He was convicted and sentenced in 2009. Three other soldiers - Jesse Spielman, Paul Cortez and James Barker - are serving sentences in the military prison at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., for their roles in the attack. Each is eligible for parole in starting in 2015.
Green was the first American soldier charged and convicted under the Military Extraterritorial Jurisdiction Act. Signed in 2000, that law gives the federal government jurisdiction to pursue criminal cases against U.S. citizens and soldiers for acts committed in foreign lands.
Green was discharged from the military in May 2006 after being found to have a personality disorder.
In multiple interviews from prison with The Associated Press, Green frequently expressed regret at taking part in the attack and frustration that he was tried and convicted in the civilian system, which does not afford inmates parole, while the others involved went through the military justice system and have a chance to be released from prison.
One of Green's former attorneys, Darren Wolff of Louisville, Ky., said the prospect of spending the next four to five decades in prison with no possibility of getting out while co-conspirators have a chance at parole in the coming years took its toll on the former soldier. Also wearing was the prospect of a transfer to another facility because of a recent altercation with other inmates, he said.
"I think I'd have a hard time living with that," Wolff told The Associated Press on Wednesday. "There's just something wrong with that."
The attack on the al-Janabi family happened at a particularly violent point in the U.S.-led Iraq war.
Green and his fellow soldiers were stationed for several weeks at a checkpoint in an area known as the "Triangle of Death" when, after an afternoon of card playing, sex talk and drinking Iraqi whiskey, the four soldiers went to the al-Janabi home about 20 miles south of Baghdad.
Green shot and killed the teen's mother, father and sister, then followed Cortez and Barker in raping the girl before shooting her in the face. Her body was set on fire. Spielman had told AP he didn't know what the other soldiers had planned and merely stood watch near the front of the house.
Barker and Cortez pleaded guilty and acknowledged taking part in the rape. Spielman went to trial and was convicted because prosecutors said he knew what was planned. A fourth soldier, Bryan Howard, stayed behind at the checkpoint and later pleaded guilty to being an accessory. He served 27 months in Fort Leavenworth.
A federal jury in Paducah spared Green a death sentence in May 2009, but U.S. District Judge Thomas B. Russell ordered Green to serve multiple life sentences.
Press accounts suggest that he had a troubled upbringing and despite a potentially disqualifying criminal history, he was able to enlist in the Army under a waiver -- which was common at the time of his enlistment.
Convicted and sentenced to life in Federal Prison, he died on 02/15/2014 from complications following an attempt at suicide by hanging in his prison cell at the United States Penitentiary in Tucson.

triangle (2009) is a good movie... but only in it’s time. It’s not bad per se, and it’s the genre that I like too. basically a single mother named jess is invited to a boating afternoon with her “friends”. during, they are engulfed in a storm and the yacht flips upside down but to their luck a giant cruise ship passes by and let’s them board. except when they do the ship is completely empty and long story short they end up in this never ending time loop that only jess realizes. there’s also this masked killer that is hunting them, and you follow jess as she tries to navigate what’s going on and how to get off this boat and back to her son. as with time loop movies, it’s a little obvious that the masked killer is her and the theory is that once everyone dies does the loop restart. so her goal is just to kill everyone so she can warn herself and friends NOT to board this ship as she sees them on the upturnt yacht. here’s the thing though? I can justify her trying to kill everyone as a means to restart the loop and make things right but there’s a scene where SHE as the hooded killer fights herself, and she’s lived this previous timeline and she knows that the end result is that she (hooded) falls off overboard. so I don’t understand why she doesn’t just?? KILL HER PAST SELF?? she knows exactly what the end result is and why it occurs and she still freezes up which brings forth jess to continue on this same path... and I’m nitpicking at stupid shit because that’s the point of the whole movie. that these loops can’t be stopped no matter what you do but literally in her case she kind of could’ve. she had a plan and everything, ALSO! why she didn’t just unmask herself and talk to her doppleganger about what the shit was going on was beyond me like if I were her I wouldn’t be so ominous and mysterious walking around with a rifle? I’d be like “hey CANDICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” but jess is jumping off the boat uttering muffled “you need to kill them all, I had to do it, you need to leave this ship” bitch take off your fucking MASK.... you were literally IN that exact position so you knew how you felt so why are you still being such a grim reaper in front of your own self huh?

Movies That Will Make You Happy You Don’t Have a Friend Who Owns a Boat...
The only things worse than rich people is rich people with boats. Like, fucking yachts. Apparently, there are several filmmakers who feel the same way. In this niche genre, the sea is harsh mistress, one that doesn’t give a shit about what tax bracket you’re in.
Harpoon (2019)
Tumblr media
To make up to his girlfriend and best friend after an explosive argument, trust fund baby Richard invites them out for a day of booze and relaxation on his father’s yacht. When shit inevitably goes south, the three friends must deal with some ugly truths as they battle for survival—and against one another.
Harpoon is a Canadian horror comedy written and directed by Rob Grant. It manages to strike the fun balance between gruesome gut-busting. With slick editing and some snarky narration, it’s a good time. If you like to watching assholes suffer in a hell of their own creating, this is the movie for you.
Yes, there’s a literal harpoon.
Harpoon is currently streaming on Hulu and Amazon Prime
Triangle (2009)
Tumblr media
When single mom Jess agreed to a pseudo-date with man and a group of his snobby boat-owning friends, she thought she’d only be gone for a few hours. Oh, honey. Forced to abandon ship and board and an abandoned cruise ship, they quickly realize someone is waiting for them... watching their every move...
A movie that didn’t make much waves with its initial release, Triangle is an engaging work of psychological horror that delivers some genuine twists. What it lacks in some elements of its execution, it certainly makes up for in originality.
Triangle is currently available on Amazon Prime
Sweetheart (2019)
Tumblr media
When she washes up on the shore of a deserted island after her boyfriend’s boat sinks, our protagonist—only addressed as “sweetheart”—hunkers down and waits for rescue. But she’s not as alone as she first thought. There something stalking her. And it’s hungry...
Though I’m not a big fan of straight-forward “monster” flicks, Sweetheart is also a compelling story of survival. It’s probably because of actress Kiersey Clemons, who spends most of the run-time alone, but still gives a great performance. It’s a smart and savage film that... definitely makes me glad I’ve never been invited out on a yacht.
You can check out Sweetheart on Netflix

“The Triangle” (2009)
R, 99 minutes, directed by Christopher Smith, written by Christopher Smith
Stream on Amazon Prime Video via IMDbTV, Pluto, Filmrise, Youtube or rent digitally on major video platforms, as of 10 January 2021. (But I’d recommend if you have Amazon, doing it there, because I think they have a slightly higher quality stream of it - all of them will have commercials.)
Notable performers: Melissa George is a queen.
Why you should watch it in general: You like clever horror movies where the horror is secondary to how cleverly done the movie is.
Why you should watch it while you’re stuck at home: Watching it while you can’t go out will make you glad that you won’t inadvertently have the kind of day that Jess is having in this movie.
Is it part of a franchise: No.
Have I seen it before: No.
Does the trailer do it justice: Yeah, but it’s definitely one of those “Aughts Horror Movie Trailers”. (Side note, if you “watch the trailer” on Amazon, it’ll play a clip from the movie that is not worth watching.)
As I mentioned above, it’s clever, which means that’s a limited amount I can say without ruining it. But also, the trailer pretty much tells you that Jess (Melissa George) is in for a weird “Groundhog’s Day” style movie. Except it’s even more clever than that.
There’s a lot of gore so that it can slot into the horror movie genre, but this could have been done as a thriller with the same script but just shot in such a way that it wouldn’t be so gory.
I fucking loved this movie!
Trigger warning: There is a scene of child abuse (it’s mostly verbal, but there’s also some slapping.)
Spoiler zone ahead!

Happy Halloween!!! Movie Recommendation ‘The Triangle’
youtube
Happy Halloween ghouls!! Such a magical time of year when all the freaks come out to play - it’s me, I am freaks. For my last horror movie recommendation for this month, I rewatched one of my absolute favorites - 2009’s ‘The Triangle’.
Tumblr media
This is more in the thriller genre but the storyline is interesting and also, shall I say, scary. Im doing my own plot synopsis today because I just adore this film. It opens with a group of friends (including a very sexy, young Liam Hemsworth) preparing to go sailing in the Atlantic on a yacht.  Our main character, Jess seems a little dazed and confused from the very beginning even having trouble remembering where her son is, who, we gather, she was supposed to bring on the sailing trip. She’s disoriented and we’re not sure why, but even her new friends think she’s acting more than a little bit weird.
All of sudden, in open water, they lose all wind in their sail and essentially get stuck in the middle of the ocean with an eerie storm brewing not too far off. It’s a strange scene watching the sail go completely limp and their boat become enveloped in the violent storm.  They get some strange interference on the radio when calling for help - also, according to the coast guard, there is no storm on the radar. Something is definitely amiss.
Tumblr media
The yacht their sailing does not withstand the storm and capsizes forcing the group to board a mysterious ship that seemingly appears out of nowhere. However, after boarding they soon realize that the ship is abandoned, but that’s the least of their worries.
Fun fact: the ship is called the Aeolus, who was the god of wind. There’s a Sysiphus reference here - in Greek mythology, Sysiphus was condemned by the gods to push a rock up a mountain only to see it roll down again for all eternity. This is an important reference for the plot, so keep that in mind.
We soon start to feel that perhaps they aren’t alone. Perhaps their being stalked. They discover weird cryptic messages and always seem to be one step behind whoever is watching them.
The first time I saw this it really messed with my head and I was so blown away by the creative story. I really didn’t want to give too much away with my recap because there’s a pretty good twist here that I would hate to ruin. But this movie is exciting and keeps a fast pace from the very beginning. It’s kind of a mental mind fuck and I absolutely love it.  And rewatching after all these years, I think it still holds up and is really the type of film that’s going to keep you on your toes, start to finish.
Tumblr media
Fair warning it can get pretty violent, so if you don’t like that, just move right along.  This is a thrilling adventure and it does not slow down. Enjoy! Happy trick or treating. And Happy Halloween!!!
