With all the hubbub about the Olympics, I decided it was time to reread my novel-length Primeval fanfic set during the 2012 London Olympics...and thought I'd share it with tumblr as well! I forgot how much I loved this show...and how much of an expert I am on the 2012 Olympics because of all the research I did for this fic!!!

Summary: The Minister's last-minute order forces the ARC staff to stay in London & work during the Olympic Games, despite assorted housing and personal issues.

I am writing to urge you to pass the Deliver Executive Profits on Seized Institutions to Taxpayers (DEPOSIT) Act that was recently introduced by Sen. Richard Blumenthal and U.S. Reps Adam Schiff (D-CA) and Mike Levin (D-CA).

This important legislation would hold executives at failed banks financially responsible for their mismanagement and prevent them from selling off shares of stock, potentially profiting from their bank failure -- like Silicon Valley Bank CEO Greg Becker might have done when he sold $3.6 million of stock shortly before the collapse of SVB.

American taxpayers shouldn’t be left holding the bag and bailing out banks while their executives are walking away with multi-million dollar compensation and bonus packages. Please respond in writing and let me know you co-sponsored this bill. Thanks!

@simplyshelbs16xoxo I’m taking this as an invitation to talk about it 😂

It came about because I was rewatching Primeval at the same time that s2 of Bridgerton came out and revived my interest in the show (being far, far superior to s1), a combination which immediately ignited a need to write a Connor/Abby Regency AU (with a subplot for Jess/Becker)

The plot borrows a lot from Jane Austen, with Stephen playing the part of the dashing cad who’s involved in scandal (sorry Stephen lol). Abby and Jess are cousins, and Connor is their childhood friend who’s recently taken over his family’s estate after the death of his father. Becker is a Naval captain, and Lester is Jess’s dad/Abby’s uncle.

I had a lot of it planned out and almost 3000 words written until s4 of Stranger Things dropped and my attention was immediately drawn elsewhere lol. I’d still like to revisit it one day though!
