Is Jeremy Strong going to win an Oscar for the Apprentice??
Is he going to? I don't know. But he certainly seems to have a strong shot.
At this point, in spite of the fact that most of the films that are likely to be in the Oscar race have been seen - mostly in festivals - the Oscar predictions various people, including journalists and 'experts', are making, are kind of all over the place, especially when it comes to the acting categories. One media outlet will say someone is the frontrunner to win, while another one doesn't predict them even being nominated. Oscars only really become easily predictable once the awards season starts and we know who's been nominated and who's won other awards (various critics awards, Golden Globes, Critics' Choice, SAG, BAFTA), and that won't really be till December.
But going by the current reviews and buzz, he's one of the actors people have been raving about the most and singling out as a potential Oscar nominee in the Best Supporting Actor category. The others are Guy Pearce (The Brutalist), Clarence Maclin (Sing Sing) and Kieran Culkin (A Real Pain). There are a few other highly expected 'big' movies that are still to be released and that people are predicting nominees from (Gladiator 2 - Denzel Washington, A Complete Unknown - Edward Norton, Blitz - maybe Harris Dickinson or Stephen Graham), but we're still to see what reception these movies will have, how big or challenging those roles are, and what the performances are like. Before The Piano Lesson premiered, everyone was saying Samuel L. Jackson was the frontrunner, and then it turned out his role is miniscule and doesn't stand out., and other movies like Megalopolis and Joker; Folie a Deux got terrible reception and seem more likely to get nominated for Razzies, and these all looked good on paper.
Now you'll also hear a lot how they are supposedly less sure about Jeremy than some others (same with Sebastian Stan in the Best Lead Actor category) because The Apprentice is polarizing, etc. I don't think that's such a deal breaker as some people think. because 1) many "polarizing" and politically controversial movies have done very well at the Oscars over the recent years (look at Vice, for instance), 2) according to many people, with the current system, it's more important to get passionate support of a portion of the members than to get lukewarm acceptance of some, 3) whatever people may say, I'm sure loads and loads of people will be watching it out of curiosity, 4) Hollywood studio executives are not the same demographic as the Academy members (or voters for any other award), not to mention that voting is anonymous, so they have no reason to be avoiding the movie the way the big studio bosses did it out of fear that Trump would make problems for them business-wise if he wins, in fact I'd say that Trump trying to shut the movie down will only make some want to support it to make a statement.
However, keep in mind that I haven't seen any of these movies, since I still haven't had a chance to - I'm just going by other people's reactions and reviews. And I'm not claiming to be any kind of "Oscar expert" or whatever. But many of these 'Oscar experts' are really disagreeing with each other at the moment... and I was recently vindicated when I didn't buy the sudden hype that The Life of Chuck would be a big Oscars player just because it won the TIFF People's Choice award.

Trying to Make Sense of Jeremy Maclin's Release
Trying to Make Sense on Jeremy Maclin's Release
Jeremy Maclin is a solid wide-receiver. Maybe not worth $12 million a year annually, but he is still a quality player.
The Kansas City Chief didn’t feel that way.

The Chiefs released Maclin on Friday to shock. Why would the Chiefs dump Maclin now?
A lack of commitment isn’t a reason. The former Eagles was recently married and reportedly…

I don't know what's worse. This transfer season or the year Chip Kelly traded or let go of all the Eagles' good players all for the price of literally nothing.
