According to Amazon’s Movers & Shakers list — which includes their biggest gainers in sales rank over the span of a day — Adidas’ Stan Smith sneakers in “big kid” sizes are a big hit. And the kicks are attracting some adult women who are shopping for the style at a significantly lower price tag. While the regular retail price for the ultra-popular Adidas tennis sneaker is $84, savvy digital shoppers are converting their women’s shoe sizes to kids sizes in order to save dollars. Prices for the kicks are on sale for as low as $39.98. As of today, the shoe has catapulted to the top-performing style based on the biggest gains in sales rank on Amazon.com in the past 24 hours — improving up 77-percent from its previous standing. Looking at the comments section, you’ll see users inundating it with advice on how to convert for kids sizes to take advantage of the low price. Amazon shopper Jenni Epperson wrote, “I’m a size 9 for ladies and the 7M for big kids fit perfectly,” while another customer commented, “I’m 7 in adult, normally 5.5 in big kid. 2014/15 Season

Creator and Performer - Dael Orlandersmith

Long-time New York Theatre Workshop Usual Suspect Dael Orlandersmith returned to the Workshop for her third solo performance: a semi-autobiographical exploration of the family we are born into and the family we choose. Forever draws from Orlandersmith’s own pilgrimage to the famed Père Lachaise Cemetery in Paris — the final resting place of legendary artists such as Marcel Proust, Oscar Wilde and Jim Morrison. At the graveside of these timeless artists, Orlandersmith finds unexpected grace in a tale of the legacy a daughter inherits from her mother.

2012/13 Season

Adapter and Performer - Moe Angelos

Adapted from Susan Sontag’s early journals by performer Moe Angelos, Sontag: Reborn traces Sontag’s private life from the age of 14 to her emergence as a world-renowned author and activist. The young Sontag wrestles with her emerging sexuality and precocious intelligence, fraught with doubt and insecurity yet driven by her willfulness, ambition and voracious curiosity. The refuge of her diary became integral to her development as a writer, Sontag says herself, “In the journal I do not just express myself more openly than I could in person. I create myself." Sontag: Reborn was directed by Marianne Weems and used The Builders Association's signature synthesis of poetic video and sound.

Creators Lisa Peterson and Denis O'Hare crafted a sprawling yarn based on Homer's epic poem. An Iliad spins the familiar tale of gods and goddesses, undying love and endless battles told through an original and immediate voice. Actors Denis O'Hare and Stephen Spinella alternated as performers in this account of humanity's unshakeable attraction to violence, destruction and chaos.

I GOT SICK AND THEN I GOT BETTER

2009/10 Season

Written and performed by Jenny Allen

I Got Sick Then I Got Better is a comic riff on one woman's adventures after falling down the medical rabbit hole. Diagnosed with and treated for ovarian cancer in 2005, writer and performer Jenny Allen tells her story of the tailspin she took following her diagnosis, and portrays the personal and family collateral damage a life-threatening illness brings.

PATRIOT ACT: A PUBLIC MEDITATION

2003/04 Season

Patriot Act: A Public Meditation was not a traditional work of theatre but a multimedia presentation by media critic and political commentator Mark Crispin Miller. It consisted of material drawn from official government reports, press conference transcripts, and news service material to evidence a case that there are powerful forces undermining and erasing our fundamental liberties by relentless contempt for democratic practice and free speech. Each session of Patriot Act was totally unique, as Miller constantly combed through new material to give an up-to-the-minute portrait of what was really going on in America in 2004. During the presentations audiences were also able to participate in a question and answer period with Miller.

Flow, a product of the inaugural year of NYTW's Larson Lab, is the tale of seven storytellers, their quest for survival in a world of modern, urban pitfalls, and the search for a new language to make age-old lessons endure for a younger generation. Portraying many characters, Will Power paired vivid images conjured with eloquent rap and rhyme, and fluid, startling physical movement. DJ Reborn accompanied Will Power in Flow, punctuating the spoken word with music created specifically for the performance.

I was invited last week by Jollibee to be one of the firsts to sample their new product. I was happy to oblige as according to them, it's been around 35 years, since they've introduced their sweet-style spaghetti and this time, they have a new pasta out.

Jollibee's new pasta is different from their iconic sweet-style spaghetti. I can't even compare the two as they have different flavors. In my opinion, the new Chicken & Mushroom Pasta is more of an adult pasta — it's got a smokey and peppery taste to it but not too spicy.

The sauce is made with generous potions of real ground chicken meat, sliced mushrooms, combined with a blend of tomatoes, herbs, and spices which gives it a unique flavor and special taste. It has a reddish brown color, a tad sweet but peppery taste, and topped with grated cheese. Mmm...

FAMAS AWARDEE @jenniepperson's book launch! choz!

Bakit ba hindi ako ni brief ni Jenni na may ambisyon pala syang maging FAMAS AWARDEE? Haha! Hindi nya rin ako nainform na book launch / teleserye pala toh! haha! Love you Jenni!

I'm so proud of Jenni belly! She just launched a book. I got copies and a lot pinangregalo ko din. But what was more endearing is that, everybody really went to support her. Naubos ang kleenex nang lola nyo kasi may balak atang maging best actress!

I guess anyone naman, maiiyak to see the support and love of everyone. I remember that she said something like "after going through so much, it's the small victories in life that matters" parang ganun. At pinipilit nya na hindi daw scripted yun! hahah! Love you Jen!

Fashion and food!

Mother, sister, fashionista and most of all friend... yun ang pinakaimportant. She is always there to support me in everything and alam nya na mutual yan :) 

Early bird award.. I don't know.. maybe it's my chinese gene or something. But I can never really get the fashionably late time. Palagi parin akong maaga! GOSH! ilang minutes late ba ang fashionably late? I only time i tried it (during Tessa's bday dinner) hindi na sya fashionable.. nalate talaga ako! FAIL!

eat healthy! Vegetarian spaghetti Bolognese

I will to try to make this one!!!! :) 

Vegetarian Spaghetti Bolognese A la Jenni

  Ingredients:

Extra virgin olive oil (EVOO)

Garlic

Milk or soy milk

Fresh basil

Dried Oregano

Salt

Pepper

Cayenne pepper (optional)

Muscovado sugar

Spaghetti noddles

To create a meat-like texture, Jenni uses carrots, green or red bell pepper, fresh tomatoes, and Swiss mushroom or Portobello mushrooms (the mushrooms are essential to this recipe as it will give that "meaty" taste to the sauce)

Jenni prefers using a combination of canned whole peeled tomatoes and fresh tomatoes for this recipe.

Easy peasy:

Step 1: Chop the vegetables finely.

Step 2: Saute the garlic in EVOO 

Step 3: Add the canned tomatoes and mash them. Bring to a boil then simmer for 6-7 min.

            Step 4: Add the veggies

Step 5: The dried spices, salt, pepper, and Muscovado sugar to taste.

Tip: If you’re cooking for kids, hold the pepper. If you’re like my son Dylan who can handle a bit of spice, use a pinch of white pepper instead of black ground pepper.

Step 6: Add 2-3 tbsp of milk.

Important: For strict vegetarians, use soy milk.

Tip: Once the sauce is cooked, separate a batch for Dylan. Then add a bit of cayenne pepper on the leftover sauce for the grown-up’s batch.

ip: Once you’ve separated a batch for your baby, you can add cayenne pepper to the grown-ups’ batch. S bit of spice can really make a difference in this sauce.

Use the alphabet pasta for kids. Cook durum or wheat spaghetti for grown-ups.

Step 7: Once the past has cooked (aldente), leave a bit of the pasta water in the pot and add a ladle of the sauce. By doing so, the pasta will absorb the flavor of the sauce.

  Garnish with fresh basil and serve with a smile!
