i love to praise ever after high for being one of the first doll lines to even tease a sapphic relationship on screen (i only say one of the first as roxxi and nevra from bratz were not confirmed until 2020), but the reality is ever after high was such a product of its time because even then, with an entire on screen kiss… they completely pushed aside any sort of development between darling and apple in favor of daring and it really sucks.
i LOVE daring, and i absolutely adore darabella. i love his arc in epic winter and i think it’s such perfect character development for him. what i don’t like, however, is that darling was such an important character in dragon games. like, the entire ending of dragon games was due to her character arc and her discovering her destiny, and… they barely show her on screen during epic winter. she gets maybe ten seconds of screentime in the background of some shots, and her and apple never even speak.
mattel had the best opportunity to give darling and apple some much needed discovery and closure during epic winter, especially after daring went through his own character arc and found out that he was destined to be with rosabella. i think it was in part that so many parents probably complained about the kiss (which is also why the “it was cpr” or “it was a friendship kiss” theories are so popular) so they pushed darling off screen in order to make parents happy, but it still drives me absolutely bonkers.
in general, i actually sincerely hate how mattel treated the charming children. it was obvious who their favorite was (daring) and i can’t fault them for that because i really do enjoy him and his arc, but dexter and darling were both routinely pushed aside and it drives me insane even all these years later.

FACTS ABOUT MY CHARACTERS FOR STELLAR RETRIBUTION!!!!!
Jellis:
Shouts at people for no fucking reason at all and craves attention all the time. Jellis is the type to say "IT'S PRONOUNCED JELLIS NOT JELLAS!!" And basically just a Shrimpo rip off. Her vined is a menace to society because this mini game starts where you have to spam space so she doesn't kill you with the vines. Jellis is overall just an annoying piece of shit if I'm honest.
Ace:
Ace talking is like a miracle for characters. One of the interactions//Conversations is this: "Meow!!" "We really need to teach you English." "What the sigma do you mean" "ÀAAAAAAAAAAAAA-." Ace's vined is also the most annoying shit to grace this game! Ace is basically twisted Toodles. But if you go near him, you will have his blind vision and he will have your normal vision, depending on how far your vision range is.
Fluf (Ambassador):
Definitely like Goob and Scraps, but he'd be Scraps towards Fluffin. Fluf and Fluffin are both siblings, being the fact they are both like plush toys. Would be the type to say: "How are you? You better be good!" And so on. Fluf's vined is like Twisted sprout and Twisted Glisten at the same time, he can control himself, and being that Fluf's vined is blind, he relies on hearing.

Hii! So uh, idk how to do this but I'm curious to see who I get matched up with so pray for me 😭
Im non-binary and I go by any pronouns!
I have brown hair with a peekaboo hair dye that's any color depending on how I feel (Call me Romana flowers😋) Im hella short man, like 5,0 💀 and I'm a bit on the chubbier side
I absolutely love grunge aesthetics, baggy dark clothes everywhere.
I like to think I'm an ambivert? I mean I'm not nervous to talk to other people but I am jella shy when speaking up. Like telling someone by they got my order wrong, and I need someone to tell them for me.
I never liked loud or crowed places and just prefer the comfort of my home 😔 Whether it's watching a gameplay or doing digital art.
I am weak in the knees for golden retrievers, you have no idea. Fluffy hair, bright smile you name it.
My love languages are physical touch and gift giving.
I saw the other asks and got curious to see who I get,😭
Please? And thank you! <3
Hi. Yes I'd love to.
Could you tell me your gender preference for your match if you have any also if there are any characters you do not want to get?

Season 1 recap! Yep, it sure started weird, but season 1 is what helped me fall even more in love with Rainbow High. Seeing the characters animated was silly and fun. I remember when the final runway episode first aired, it was such a big deal!
Tumblr media
Violet and Sunny were my first two Rainbow High dolls. And though they had a rocky start in episode 1, they were attached at the hip otherwise. Sunlet will always be my OTP.
Tumblr media
Still, I was ecstatic when Bella was brought back at the very end. She and Jade had a lot of bonding time in episode 7, and fans took notice. Jella is probably still the most popular ship.
Tumblr media
Of course, those weren't my only ships in season 1. Andershaw got a lot of support in episode 6.
Tumblr media
Of course, the only couple that was canonized was Amaya and River, but whatever. I don't hate it.
Yeah, it was a very shippy season.

Ship Game. Answer with a GIF. No repeats. 1. First Ship I thought long and hard about it, and I think my first ship must have been Mulan and Li from Disney’s Mulan. The movie came out when I was just old enough to start thinking critically about movies, noticing what I liked and didn’t like. And I realized I really, really liked Mulan and Li as individual characters, but I didn’t like that we didn’t get to see them fall in love — just the spark of something starting at the end of the movie. I think it was the first time I daydreamed about different scenarios that could have played out between them, which is basically the foundation of fanfiction, right? So…. count it!
Tumblr media
2. First OTP This has to be Draco and Hermione (Dramione) from Harry Potter. This is the ship that got me into reading fanfiction and actually engaging in fandom spaces. Unfinished fics still haunt my Google Docs, and I hope one day I’m going to come back to this ship and finish them. Basically, I love thinking about Draco’s possible redemption arc and I love that a relationship with Hermione helps explore and enhance it. Oh, and the angst!
Tumblr media
3. Current Favorite Sydney and Carmen from The Bear. It took until the end of the most recent season for the appeal to sink in, and I’d like to see more positive moments between them before romantic feelings solidify. But I think they’ve got a great foundation. Plenty of conflict, sure, but relationship experts say the frequency of conflicts and the subject matter of conflicts aren’t what indicate success in relationships. It’s all about how conflicts are repaired. And I LOVE the way they do repairs together. So vulnerable. So willing to accept responsibility and try to change. Looking forward to their development in future seasons.
Tumblr media
4. Shipped From the First Minute Josh and Donna from The West Wing. I watched this show way after it ended and found myself just wanting more and more of them. Like, they could have been the main characters instead of having an ensemble cast and I would have been perfectly content. Playful banter right off the bat. She keeps him in line. He’d be lost without her. They’re both smitten but dammit they work at the White House and that means they have to keep things professional. The pining! Do yourself a favor and go watch YouTube videos of just them. You won’t regret it.
Tumblr media
5. Wish They’d Been Endgame I’m putting Jon and Sansa (Jonsa) here so that I have a sensible spot left for other ships. I do believe they’ll be endgame in the books, if we ever get them, so this answer is for Game of Thrones specifically. We’ve all read, reblogged, and probably written a few of our own posts about how many different ways the show went sideways. I have nothing new to say here and to recap previous thoughts would take way too many paragraphs. Jon, Sansa, and the Stark legacy all deserved so much better. That’s the short of it.
Tumblr media
6. Wish They’d Been Canon As some other answers hint at, I typically empathize with writers’ choices even if they don’t fit my personal preference. So it was hard to think of a couple that wasn’t canon but I truly thought should have been from a cohesive narrative perspective. Maybe Caleb and Maeve from Westworld? This show went more and more off the rails with each season, so a lot more than ship dynamics would have to change to redeem it in my opinion. And I definitely wouldn’t want Caleb to have been unfaithful to his wife. But they showed us such a stronger bond between him and his daughter and between him and Maeve compared to him and his wife that, like…. maybe his wife shouldn’t have even been a character? Write her out completely, as early as possible? And then that strong partnership between Caleb and Maeve could have been something even more? Yep, that would have been better.
Tumblr media
7. You Like But Most of Fandom Hates Do people *hate* Jacob and Bella (Jella) from Twilight? I don’t know, but I like it 100 times more than Bella and Edward, and I think that’s probably pretty uncommon. Actually, in my college public speaking class, we had an assignment where we had to have a partner and write persuasive speeches from opposing views. And I was like, “Who wants to be my partner and have fun with this by debating Twilight ships?” I compared Jella against serious research about successful relationships and ACED IT. My instructor liked my speech so much she asked me to give it a second time to another class she taught while she recorded it. I would pay money to be able to track down a copy of that. A+ work.
Tumblr media
8. Don’t Even Watch But Ship Them Anyway Eddie and Chrissy (HellCheer) from Stranger Things. Opposites attract? Grumpy sunshine appearing but maybe not really? Outcast boy and popular girl? A ship name that isn’t about their names? DOOMED BY THE NARRATIVE? What’s not to love, you know? Plus, this ship’s fans make amazing art! And if I remember correctly, it loosely inspired a Jonsa AU fic I really enjoyed, lounge act.
Tumblr media
9. Wish They’d Had a Different Storyline Stefan and Caroline (Steroline) from the Vampire Diaries. I’ve only dabbled in this fandom, but it seems like Klaus and Caroline (Klaroline) is a much more popular ship. They had great chemistry, so I get the appeal. But the surface-level unrequited crush to reluctant mentor/mentee to genuine friends to platonic soulmates to lovers slow burn of Steroline is just chef's kiss. But then — spoiler alert — right after they get married, Stefan sacrifices himself so his brother and ex-girlfriend can be together? From a writer’s perspective, I get that ending. Full circle, brotherly love, blah blah blah. But I liked Stefan and Caroline so much more than Damon and Elena and would have rather seen the former couple get the happy ending.
Tumblr media
10. Favorite that was Endgame Coach Eric Taylor and his wife Tami Taylor from Friday Night Lights. Do they count? They were together the entire series and had few serious marital conflicts. So there was never any threat of being something other than endgame. But I’m picking them anyway. I love their classic bickering like an old married couple and the way they still lust for each other after so many years. And I love, love, love that the series finale ended with them making a move that was more for her career than his. Relationship goals.

Harrow the Ninth, Bonus Content, Pronunciation Guide
(Curious what I'm doing here? Read this post! For detail on The Locked Tomb coverage and the index, read this one! Like what you see? Send me a Ko-Fi.)
Similar to the one in GtN, titled "Naming Systems", but for this book's new characters.
John Gaius GUY-us NOTE: He's just some guy, you know? NOTE II: Gaius was not the name John was born with. He picked it for himself circa Y100 of his reign.(1)
Augustine - AWG-us-tin, not awg-us-TEEN.
Alfred Quinque - KWIN-kway.
Augustine and Alfred share an arithmonym. The implications of this were present at the time, but not as developed as they were later on.
Cassiopeia - Cass-ee-oh-PAY-ah. Nothing like her namesake in Greek mythology, "as she was honestly just a universally beloved and clever human being who made beautiful meals with the occasional finger error."(2)
Cristabel - CRIS-ta-bell, not "crees".
Pyrrha Dve - PIRRA DVAY (one syllable). Pyrrha has many connotations, but Muir's favourite is the disguise Achilles took in that name.(3)
Nigella Shodash - NYE-jella SHOW-dash.
Valancy Trinit - VAL-an-see TRIN-it. Derived from "valens", the same root as "valiant", an incredible cavalier name. Valancy and Cyrus both supported each other's belief that they were the most attractive people ever born.
Titania Tetra - Ti-TAHN-iya TET-ra.(4)
Loveday Heptane - LOVE-day HEP-tane.
Anastasia - An-ass-TAYS-iya, rather than an-ass-TAHS-iya.
Samael Novenary - SAM-ay-el No-VEEN-ary
Mithraeum - Mith-RAY-em. From temples of Mithras,(5) of course.
Noniad - NO-nee-add.
Enneameter - enny-AM-eter.
NOTE: The metre of Ortus's epic, The Noniad (Matthias hight Nonius his Deeds and Accomplishments), is dactylic enneameter.(6) This is the traditional metre for serious Ninth House poetry (as opposed to light lyric Ninth House poetry, which is written in enneasyllables(7) and doesn't exist). As befits a Ninth House metre, enneameter is long, ponderous, clunky, and sucks. Ortus sticks grimly to some of its most archaic rules.
Apopneumatism - apo-NEW--mat-ism
Admiral Sarpedon - Admiral (as in the rank) Sar-PEE-don.(8)
Abella Trine - A-BELL-uh TRYNE (like "mine")
Epirhoic - EPPY-ro-ic (the end of which rhymes with "heroic"). Here Muir notes "Rhoic, from the Greek "rhoe," stream or flow; epi-, "on top of," so it's on top of the stream."(9)
Mesorhoic - MEE-so-ro-ic. "Meso" meaning middle.
Bathyrhoic - BATH-ee-ro-ic, with a short "a" which Muir says is in "psychopath". "Bathy" means "deep".
Barathron - ba-RA-thron. Greek for "a pit". "Criminals were classically thrown into one in ancient Athens."
=====
(1) So, what name WAS he born with, and where did "Gaius" come from? (2) How much do we believe this? How much of this should we question? Is Muir revealing truths, or red herrings? (3) Given that she's now a woman in a man's body, in a sort of way, that's a rather interesting choice to refer to in this, imo! (4) I suppose I'd have written out a "not tye-TAY-nya" to supplement this, but it's entirely possible Muir's never encountered that one in the wild. (5) Mithras is a complicated but popular god to reference in fiction. And it's true, real-life mithraea survive to modern day and can be visited. We don't actually know much about the Mithraists because they didn't write their religion down, but there's a lot of guesses of varying skeptical-eyebrow-raising quality available to research if you want to see how deep the parallels might go! Or someone's probably made a post about it somewhere on Tumblr, if you dare risk spoilers. (6) Recall that I explained enneameter before! I completely forgot that this was here! So, "enneameter" meant "poetry with nine feet/groupings". Dactylic means poetry in which each foot consists of one long/stressed syllable followed by two short ones, named for the resemblance to human finger bones. No, that's not just a Ninth House conceit, it's our-world. (7) Literally just nine syllables per line. (8) This certainly gives new light to the John/Sarpedon shippers and Muir's restraint in not saying "PEED-on" is admirable itself. (9) Once again I forgot this was in the guide back here, as it wasn't in the glossary part when I checked that. Still, I found it pretty difficult to track down the etymology, though part of that comes down to search engines getting actively worse over the last couple of years. (I have receipts. It's not just your imagination, if you noticed it too, but this isn't the place to rant about that.)

Dear god tumblr doesn't like horizontal posts uuuuuuuuh click the image for better quality o~o"
For this assignment we had to use Carl Jung's 12 Character Archetypes and design a character based on one of the four quadrants: Freedom, Social, Order, and Ego
I decided to use some of my preexisting characters to see if I could assign an archetype to each one (and I wanted an excuse to finally draw a proper lineup of these four in color)
Jella: Everyman Vex: Ruler Ilene: Creator Odyssey: Rebel
I will say it was pretty difficult trying to give each one a pose to make their assigned archetype semi-clear as you could easily mistake Jella for the Jester or Vex as the Rebel based on clothing alone. On top of that, the last three characters could all easily fit under the Rebel archetype due to their personalities and the fact that they've committed some kind of crime or felony. Ultimately I went with the logic that everyone fits into a different archetype depending on the group they're in since real people aren't defined as one single category. For example, Odyssey here is the Rebel but on her own she could be the Explorer and she can also switch to being the Jester when she's being more casual and nonchalant.

My hopes for next season:
•More Spotlight to the wave 2-4 characters.
•More interaction between Luna and Sunny!
•LILY. At this point, she deserves a whole episode to herself. Hoping when Chinese New Years rolls around, she’ll finally get her episode.
•Explaining how Gabby and Finn got together!
•More about “Storm Central”, the school mentioned by Aiden early in the series.
•A prom/dance episode!
•JELLA CONTENT
•Don’t forget about Sabrina and Delilah!
•More Pacific Coast episodes!
Please add more!

Thank you so much for the subtitles and everything you do. You are great! 💖💖💖 Your comments for the show have been great. 😂 All this is very useful for me (I believe for others too) as my German is not very good. As far as I understand, they cut the part of his speech about the eco-activists. I hope it wasn't too outrageous.
And do you have an explanation why Sisi didn't get any awards? I'm a little disappointed for Dominique and Désirée.
I only read about the eco-activist part this morning (haven't read what he actually said yet, so I can't say) and didn't notice a weird cut when watching it, so it was cut very smoothly and wasn't noticeable to me. They aired the show semi-live with the award show being 30-60min ahead of the broadcast. I don't know why they cut it. It being political wasn't an issue in my opinion because later Joko Winterscheidt gave his acceptance speech to an Iranian activist and it was aired in full. There were also other parts where hosts and celebrities told the others to use their reach for good causes etc. and the Ukraine War and Qatar World champion were discussed as well. Maybe it was just a time thing.
I don't know why Sisi didn't get anything. My best guess is that this is the first year where the foreign streaming services are partners of the awards as well and they usually have bigger budgets. A lot of awards went their way. Jella Hase, who won best female actress, definitely deserves the award too since she showed a different side of her skill set in Kleo. She is best known for playing stupid characters for laughs which Kleo is the opposite of. So I get why she got it. I think Dominique will get another shot with Davos and the third season of Sisi. Désirée was nominated for three works so I was actually sure she would win. But well, that's how it goes sometimes.
Edit: So I quickly read up on it
The official reason is indeed time and that they cut about 60min from the award show to save time (well they could have cut A LOT of other things but okayyy). The show was actually 1,5h ahead. He basically said the paint the Letzte Generation (Last Generation) sprayed on the Brandenburg Gate and that is difficult to remove should stay on it as a reminder to our failure to protect the climate and that when we look back in 100 years, we will realize we had bigger problems than paint on the Brandenburg Gate.

RH fandom: Well, since the name is rainbow high, they obviously are going to put lgbtqia+ characters on it! I mean rainbow literally represents the community
RH: Are you guys seeing this single one boy right here? Well, all the girls want to date him and find him attractive! Oh? You guys like jella? Let's tease it and forget it! A girl having a crush on each other? Huh?

okay so I really want them to confirm Jella bc im starved for gay rep and here's how I think they should do it:
while the group is all together working on their project, Bella facetimes Jade and everyone says hi before jade walks off and they chat for a few mins.
they finish up their convo with "bye, I miss you!!" And Bella is like "im always your girl" or something super cheesy and cute and jade is like 🥰🥰🥰I love you!! and blows a little kiss before they hang up
Or just have Bella come back and she jumps into Jade's arms and they smooch idk im not picky just make is canon goshdangit ahshfjfjf

My Rainbow High Ships
This is not a list of all the Rainbow High Ships, just the ones I either have dolls of, or plan to buy dolls for.
Sunlet - Sunny and Violet - my first pairing. I know it's entirely because violet and yellow look good together, but since they are childhood friends with a history, I doubly ship it.
Jella - Jade and Bella - practically canon. Those two totally bonded, and Jade was a mess without Bella in Season 1.
Skyby - Skyler and Ruby - also called Andershaw. These two bonded like crazy over their broken hearts. I think they're crazy for each other now.
Rivaya - River and Amaya - a het pairing! I know! I just thought River is a good boy and Amaya deserves some of that.
Krystemi - Krystal and Emi - a crackship, but I'm allowed a few, aren't I? I know they never talk in the show, but I think the head editor of an art school magazine would totally date a girl who drinks paint water.
Popia - Poppy and Daria - Poppy reads as an ace queen to me, but I don't want any of my dolls getting lonely, so I'm pairing her with Daria because she seems really sweet and they're both into music, so they at least have shit in common.
Finniella - Finn and Gabriella, my other het ship. I'm not a huge fan of Gabriella as a character, but I adore Finn and want to give him everything his little heart desires.
Rifinn - River and Finn - I just like boys kissing, don't judge me.
Gabamaya - Gabriella and Amaya - I also really like girls kissing, and think they could have a nice enemies to lovers thing.
Rainbow High Ships I'm not getting dolls for
The A's - Avery, Aiden & Ainsley - yes, I think they're a threesome.
Aiden + any boy he wants - You can't tell me he isn't part gay!
The Pink Singer and the Yellow Writer - I don't remember their names, but I support them.
