Books on the docket!
Tumblr media
ā€˜Lolita’ by Vladimir Nabokov
ā€˜The Virgin Suicides’ by Jefrey Eugenides
ā€˜The Bell Jar’ by Sylvia Plath
ā€˜Triptych: A Will Trent Novel’ by Karin Slaughter
The first book I’m reading and currently on is ā€˜Lolita’ because it is known as one of the most controversial and misunderstood books to have ever be published. I’m currently on page 20 and I’m already so deeply disturbed, but very very intrigued. As to not spoil anything too much, you can tell Nabokov has an extreme talent for characterization and descriptive storytelling. He writes an acceptable unreliable narrator and he makes it obvious his intention of the book in the first 3 pages of the story. Maybe I’ll make a post about the book to explain more of what I mean later on.
ā€˜The Virgin Suicides’ and ā€˜The Bell Jar’ are also well known classics that I’m excited to read because it seems that these books are most book lovers stepping stones to becoming better readers.
I have read works by Karin Slaughter before like her book ā€˜Pretty Girls’ and The Grant County Series, and I was interested in reading the Will Trent series since there was a TV show out now about it. The Grant County Series was definitely a personal favorite of mine and I’m wondering how differently the Will Trent series is gonna be.
Let me know your thoughts and what you’re reading now too!

Keep putting out that these people are bad at their jobs!
The Atlantic's Jeffrey Goldberg called the Trump White House's bluff, andĀ published all the explosive detailsĀ (paywall) about a private Signal group chat that, contrary to administration LIES, did indeed contain sensitive military strike plans.
They called him a liar. He posted the receipts.
Shit is flying.

Listening to Batman Audio Adventures and wow....the differences between AA and Unburied is wild.
Both have people of color in some of the main roles but keep the characters white in Audio Adventures while Unburied basicly confirms they're the same race as their VAs (especialy Bruce who's parents are also played by POC actors).
Both mention mental health, Unburied takes a very realistic and serious take on the topic while Audio Adventures takes a very pseudo-scientific look for the more sensantional series with the 60s vibe and tone of the stories and character portrayl.
The interesting difference is that Unburied takes a strong ACAB stance while AA makes Batman and Robin super-cops working officialy with the GCPD.
The tone is very different too, Unburied has a more serious and realistic R-rated tone and story involving a murder mystery and gory moments (with f-bombs). Audio Adventures as mentioned takes a more of a mix with 60s and 70s vibes in the tone, the stories and the portrayl of their characters (all of the villians perfectly fit in the Silver Age comics, so does Robin. Bruce is kinda a mix, with Jefrey personaly having an odd performance in the way he speaks).
I am not saying one is good and one is bad, they're both good, it's a personal preference thing. I much preffer the Unburied series in all things to the AA, but i admit AA is an objectively good and fun Batman series.

A quarter of Americans hold unfavorable views of bothPresident Biden and former President Trump — the highest share of "double haters" at this stage in any of the last 10 elections, according to new Pew Research data.
Why it matters: The closely watched bloc has nearly doubled in size since 2020, making this fall's Trump vs. Biden rematch the most dreaded election in modern political history.
The big picture: Top strategists say the race is likely to be decided by 6% of voters in six swing states. Many of them will hold their nose and pick a candidate they dislike in November.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. claims to be on the ballot in several of those states, offering a third-party option that both the Biden and Trump campaigns are scrambling to neutralize.
Whichever candidate can mobilize more "double haters" to back them in November could have a decisive advantage in the Electoral College, given the razor-thin margins.
Zoom in: Trump has made inroads with Republican critics in recent weeks, using a visit to Capitol Hill — and a handshake with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) — to showcase the GOP's post-primary unity.
Former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley, whose primary voters represent a huge cross-section of Trump-Biden skeptics, finally endorsed Trump last month.
A steady drumbeat of wealthy GOP donors who condemned Trump after Jan. 6 are once again getting out their checkbooks, unable to stomach a second Biden term.
Between the lines: 67% of "double haters" believe Trump should end his campaign in the wake of his felony conviction, according to a recent ABC News/Ipsos poll.
The Biden campaign sees that and other polling data as evidence that the president will win over this critical bloc of voters by the time Nov. 5 arrives.
"They may dislike both candidates, but the intensity on Trump's negative is higher," Democratic pollster Jefrey Pollock told Axios. "A campaign that has the resources to persuade those individuals has some advantage."
The bottom line: Between 1988 and 2012, at least one of the major party nominees had a favorability rating over 50%. Both Trump and Biden will be lucky to draw much higher than 40% by the time they're nominated this summer.

Jefrey Mishlove (New Thinking Allowed)
Jeffrey Mishlove reflects upon a series of coincidences that have occurred recently on the New Thinking Allowed channel. They involve Alex Gomez-Marin's interview about the Jacobo Grinberg Story, Emmy Vadnais' interview with physician Jim Roach, the Tonglen Meditation video, and two recent videos with Heidi Jurka - who was a member of Andrija Puharich's "space kids" group. Also presented are ideas concerning Puharich's "Mind Link" and the "Law of One." Also in the mix is the Mexican miracle healer known as Pachita. All of these threads are tied together by the concept of "Indra's Net" as discussed in a video with Jude Currivan.
Jeffrey Mishlove: The Law of One and related Coincidences (March 2024)
youtube
Jeffrey Mishlove describes a series of events, going back to the 1970s and into the present day, in which unusual events involving hawks appear to evoke the archetypal god Horus. These events are associated with UFO sightings, psychic powers, healing, and ominous warnings. The events include descriptions by Andrija Puharich of his interactions with the Israeli psychic, Uri Geller. Also implicated is the prominent psychic, Ray Stanford, twin brother of the parapsychologist, Rex Stanford. These events are probably best understood in the context of Jeffrey's concept of "archetypal synchronistic resonance."
