Okay but for real can we talk about how GOOD Pastra’s “Jeff the Killer” rewrite is? Like, dude (gender neutral) knows their horror and storytelling!

Okay Y’all… (SPOILERS AHEAD.)

I just finished Pastra’s Jeff The Killer rewrite and HOLY SHIT!

I remember growing up on creepypastas. I watched video after video, audio after audio, and enjoyed every minute of it. I watched Creepy Gaming and HoodHoodlumsRevenge mainly and I came to know many different creepypastas. Fan-art and fan comics fascinated me and I even drew Tails Doll in my school to activate the Tails Doll curse. My obsession even went so far as to attempt to make a Tails Doll plush and even me and my friend made a shitty Sonic.exe plush.

As I got older though, I realized that most of the really popular creepypastas were complete shit. Granted, there were some good ones like Ben Drowned and No End House, but most of them were just lazy and romanized murder and other vile topics. Jeff The Killer was no exception. I’ve seen many people complain and be frustrated by how popular it was while masterpieces like Psychosis and The Showers were more underground. I remember every major criticism that the story had that completely tore any believability away from it.

But then Pastra rewrote and reworked the story. What once started as a story written for the sake of being edgy is not something genuinely terrifying that kept both me and my brother at the edge of our seat. Every criticism of the original was taken accounted for in the rewrite. From making Jeff’s appearance more realistic, but still iconic, to making it make sense why Jeff would “snap” and all the way to making it make more sense why Jeff was able to overpower people. Everything was considered.

And you want to know what the cherry on top was? It was the plot twist. The fact that Jeff didn’t snap at all. He was truly psychotic and not like a campy movie, “kills anyone they see”, psychotic, but a realistic and has a goal in mind psychotic. The ending was absolute perfection as we finally get to see Jeff’s point of view and his planning. The best part? That’s easily the fact that we don’t know who made it out alive.

Pastra, if you end up finding this, I want you to know that you are an excellent horror writer and have clearly done your research on this topic. I really hope it gets as popular, if not more, than the original and it gives me a lot of hope for your future projects. Take care of yourself and remember that you’re extremely talented.

I know this may be a useless post to make and anyone big in the fandom probably won’t see it, but:

Dear Creepypasta content related creators. If you’re gonna cover the fandom… please be respectful.

I know that may be a dumb thing to ask, and some people are probably asking why I’m saying it at all. But a lot of the hate and harassment that has come towards this fandom is because big creators don’t really watch what they say when they rant about it. I know it’s a strange fandom that can be weird at times, but you need to remind yourselves that the fandom was created by silly kids. Who just wanted to have fun and make stories about these characters as their own escapisms. Does it have its problems like other fandoms? Yes. But I would like to think, and believe, that this fandom has grown along with us and has had the ability to become more supportive and loving then it originally was back in the days.

I’m not trying to dictate anyones opinion, or say they can’t think of this fandom as strange, cause it is. Nor am I saying that they have to say they like it all or else. What I’m trying to say is even if you don’t like any of it, please don’t insult it. Because this fandom means something to people, and has helped them through a lot.

Popular creators have big sway in opinion, and when they don’t like something, their audience won’t. And sometimes people on the internet can be crazy.

I guess what I’m trying to say is that this whole “fanon vs Canon” and “Cringe vs Scary” debate is the thing that has ruined the fandom and divided people instead of bring them together.

Creepypasta is meant to be dumb scary stories on the internet, I know. But part of the reason why it’s still around, and people still talk about today? It’s because of this silly little fandom. So… maybe show it a little more respect then you may think it deserves.

i need to sleep soon, but i've been rotating pastra's new video with his own retelling of the jeff the killer creepypasta and. mein gott……

first of, Go Watch 🔫

and second of, spoilers under the cut, bc im gonna ramble abt it now!!

so there's thing ive noticed of a few rewrites i have read before is that many times the authors take a lot of creative liberties while rewriting and, well, many of them interested me a lot ngl! most of them are full rewrites with almost no similarities to the og story that isnt the characters and maybe one or two plot points, and i think about them and it amazes me how one can change a characters story and still make it feel like the same character

but the thing about pastra's rewrite, is that they understands Who jeff the killer is and What jeff is, and not only gives the original story's Feeling an actual structure, but a Why for it too

and that starts with the who. jeff is a villain in most narratives that had included him before, even if the original creepypasta aimed (?) for him to be sort of the empathetic, like. back then he was but a kid, maybe a violent one, but a kid that fell to his most destructive urges nevertheless (and with this extra, irrational fear that i think was more of a personal observation when i first hear of this creepypasta when i was Really young, of "oh god, what if turn out like Him" since he was around my age then, but anyways.)

but this jeff is not a kid anymore, is actually of college age, and for most of this rewrite's narrative he is this looming terror on the loose; death with a rotting, self made smile. and as more things are revealed, and both the detectives and audience get closer to jeff, at first one would think is going with the same, empathetic route like the original, with the bullies and stuff, but since we already know how that goes, pastra actually Uses that to get people by surprise and… no, he isn't just a kid, or in this case a man, Driven to madness by circumstances. he starts a villain, ends a villain

which perfectly pictures what jeff as a concept was and is in essence:

a brutal, unpredictable force of violence; a monster

and that's what makes him scary again, because he is still a human after all, but his actions slowly take away that until only his appearance, no matter how mutilated it is by that point, is what anchors him to his humanity; a tether to it made out of a spider's web string

like i remember listening to the narration in the background while playing splatoon some days ago, and sometimes having to pause the game just to listen more attentively. and in some parts, specially towards the end, making me actually feel kinda scared, not only for liu (which is also Very well written and the role he plays to connect jeff's past to the present and reveal his true intentions is Amazing), but for every single one of the witnesses too

and then that part. that one part after staying convinced most of the video that this rewrite would follow a similar plot as the original, liu says "but no. it was just… jeff" LIKE- that legit gave me Chills, and minutes after jeff's infamous phrase Actually used well??? like as i said, this actually brought back some of that fear from the original, tho it mostly impressed me for the execution, but genuinely what the fuck (legit said out loud while listening "are they gonna- no they won't- HE DID…")

n. well, this is less about the creepypasta now, but just me thinking how good pastra's storytelling is, the story's structure feels so clean and interconnected, the pacing is so nice but it has that touch of his that is across all his videos. and the voice acting!! the man genuinely sounded insane when jeff did, is incredible :D

How Jeff Abel (my Jeff the killer) acts in a relationship

Since some of you asked (aka one of my friends and someone in my ask box) I’m going to put headcannons here of how a relationship with my Jeff the killer (Jeff Abel) would go. My Jeff is not a romantic but he craves the love a relationship brings. Enjoy -

He’s not, good with relationships but he’s not horrible. I’ll just put it that way.

His love is rough, difficult and a lot of work

He meets people strangely. His first love he met at a diner, their job, and later broke into their home. He never truly got over them.

He does love, he just shows it in strange ways.

He will bring you dead animal bones that he stripped and bleached himself, clothes of somebody he killed because you mentioned you liked that jacket once. What a coincidence they just happened to have one

If he lets you touch him he’s practically always hovering, he doesn’t mean to be creepy he just wants to be around you, you’re safe

When he leaves it’s not that he doesn’t love you he’s just doing his own thing. Most people take it to heart but he will always bring something back to you

You’re safe, that means if something happens or he’s having trouble dealing with his mental ailments he’s at your doorstep.

He will take you to abandoned places he likes to hide out, most of them overlook something, or are up high. Being lofted makes him feel like nothing can touch him.

He likes to kiss when his partner is mad at him, something about the heat of the moment and the way their eyes are on fire just makes it so much easier to press his lips to theirs

He’s a heavy smoker, most of the money he comes across goes to gifts for you and cigarettes. You’ll have to feed him most days. He’s ravenous so keep your fridge stocked lest he clears it out

He likes to sleep with you laying on top of him. He’s cold and the heavy feeling of someone laying on his chest makes his heart slow and his eyes flutter shut

Be gentle if you want to play with the cross he wears around his neck. It was his mothers and the years of wear on it has made it worn down and he doesn’t want to find another chain

I have more but I’m unsure of how these will do so this is all for now
