ohohoho my favorite wip that will take forever to finish as it would detail lando's entire life as a jedi from the gathering to the events of rotj

I even wrote a separate post about it way back when that details the entire thing that I'm gonna copy-paste here:

okay so, lando is a part of the youngling group we see with ahsoka on ilum, and I had this cute idea that he asks ahsoka if he could be her padawan when she becomes a master because I stan them both so much and it’s cute

order 66 hits and the youngling group makes a miracle escape with grogito and guess who picks them up and hides them?

hondo. hondo’s grown fond of these kids and he looks after them for a couple of years, keeps them safe. some of them (katooni at least) stay with him while others leave to figure out their own way. lando learns some tricks of the trade and becomes a good pilot and gambler, even though he has to suppress his connection to the force. that one encounter with inquisitors cut way too close

lando travels with l3, meets han and chewie, loses the falcon (which is an eternal sore subject), and then makes his way to lothal and runs into the ghost crew. shit hits the fan as it does but when they part ways, both lando and kanan at their respective ends are like “huh, if I didn’t know better I’d say that guy is a jedi”

(kanan totally lives and the next time they see each other lando has reconnected with the force and it’s the spiderman meme)

so then lando wins cloud city and has a good time until vader shows up and it’s the biggest whiplash to order 66 lando has had so far. it’s ptsd city and he is barely able to keep his composure (vader doesn’t pick up anything, he’s way too preoccupied)

and then…. luke falls into his arms, and it’s familiar but totally new at the same time. luke’s a jedi, no doubt about it, but he’s unlike any other jedi lando has ever known. and luke recognizes lando’s force signature as well (spiderman meme again)

and that’s when lando goes to a super secret compartment in the falcon that not even han and chewie had any idea existed and retrieves his lightsaber for the first time since probably the time he acquired the falcon

it’s jedi time. lando ignites his lightsaber and feels free. he’s kept all of this hidden so deep within himself for so long and now he has to both teach luke and learn what he never had the chance to learn

and then we have skyrissian endgame. they have some blatant sexual tension while sparring. you know, the good stuff^^ but also a true connection. a force bond, if you will 😉

after getting influences from different star wars medias I’ve also thought about lando being friends with kelleran beq (because I love master kelleran) and maybe kelleran saves the whole lot of them? but I’d also like to bring master huyang on board

I also put together my own timeline for this because the force knows timelines in star wars are wibbly wobbly timey wimey at best of times and I need something cohesive

Tell me about the Jedi Lando AU!!

okay so, that one actually came before the whole jedi sith au, so the jedi sith au is essentially a spin-off and I'm using a lot of the backstory I created for lando in both fics

this one is on the back burner atm because it's gonna be long as all fuck and I can only handle one longfic at a time

pilot boba au in which he ends up working for fenn rau instead of lenovar and actually gets to have a mostly-legal mostly-intact life

he's one of the Protector pilots in rau's squadron and lives with sintas and ailyn on the old fett farm. he takes over as leader of the protectors/pilot squadron after rau gets kidnapped. after the empire obliterates most of the protector camp, he and the surviving members of his squad reunite with rau and join the rebellion.

he and rau accompany luke on the first trench run. rau engages vader (both of their ships get destroyed/disabled and they end up fighting beskad-vs-lightsaber style while floating in space until han shows up to rescue rau). boba goes with luke as the backup - if luke misses, they won't have time to get anyone else in the trench, so his plan is basically to go up to the vent and detonate the slave 1s entire arsenal. it would kill him and probably luke, but at least one of the explosives would definitely hit the reactor.

sometime around rotj, he runs into omega (who is also a rebellion pilot). he hasn't really worked out his issues with jedi and other clones, and proceeds to have A Lot Of Emotions about the surprise twin sister. this happens directly in the background of the luke and leia twin reveal. there are a lot of long-lost twins in the rebellion, apparently.

he, hera, and han have a somewhat-friendly competition for Best *Non Force Sensitive* Pilot Of The Generation. sometime before/around the mandalore arc, he finds out that sabine got sort-of-exiled for being Not Death Watch. he and sintas send her a crate of specialized explosives for her birthday.

during the battle of endor, sintas and ailyn go with the death star generator team and boba goes with the reactor-bombing team.

They had arrived in the Bespin system two days previously, chasing Skywalker from Hoth. Veers had been unconscious and in bacta for two days after they left the planet. He’d heard afterward that Piett had gone to Vader and sought to convince him to take the fleet out of the asteroid field their Sith commander had seen fit to take them into.

Given the mood Vader had been in for months now, Piett’s attempt had been suicidal and it seemed the crew had thought so as well.

Not to mention the little fact that his friend was now the Admiral after Ozzel’s spectacular kark up. And where Veers would normally have applauded such a promotion, he could only see it as a death sentence in their current circumstances.

And if Firmus was putting himself on the line in such a way, then nothing in the galaxy was going to prevent Veers from being right with him and that included the Executor’s chief medical officer.

also instead of luke trying to kill his nephew for NO REASON (so insanely out of character it boils my blood) he just realises after ben dips thats hes not cut out for teaching. and is living on a mandalorian colony as rebellion liason/ambassador with chewie and sometimes lando i guess (din djarin is there) he aids the rebellion (because of course he would fuck that plotline) but he wont stay on the rebel base because he doesnt like all the chosen one clout and mandalorians are very chill and mind their own business

han and leia are still together and play active parts in the rebellion because fuck that plotline too although they do disagree about the ben situation (leia is annoyed and han is understanding) poe and ben childhood friends and for what.

in this au, rey is raised in the empire and is a sith lord but she has doubts and isnt as abjectly disgusting as kylo ren because of course not. (appears slightly too interested in the rebellion when poe is captured and maybe??? possibly lets finn and poe escape but thats up for debate.) rey gets more evil over course of movies before turning to light for plot drama and a satisfying zuko arc.

force awakens timeline

prophecy that a new jedi will rise and take down the dark side. rey and sith lord (dk who but fuck snoke im writing him out) assume it is the missing ben solo (its finn and rey tho fr) and are intent on finding him. movie opens on rey being evil probably and capturing poe. also finn as a character actully needs no real changes hes great. and then next scene space pirate ben solo doing his thing (but without identity revealed so we dont know who he is yet he may go by kylo because funny)

instead of luke poe has a lead on missing almost-jedi before he dipped ben solo and is searching for him on leias orders.(rebellion also believe the prophecy is about him. but nuh uh) torture scene and escape scene doesnt need to change but show reys nuances and how lost she is.

in the interest of narrative poe and finn still crash on tatooine but finn manages to pull poe out of the crash. (finn still gets the jacket at some point because i say so) poe is too injured to fly so they seek out help and and meet ben solo who saves them from pirates or something idk. (but neither know who the other is)

finn and poe convince ben solo to be their pilot still thinking hes a random smuggler named kylo. they get along very well, especially finn and ben. rey by this point is tracking their whereabouts

they end up on that lightsaber planet and ben gets the weird darth vader nightmare and freaks out, (hes afraid of being evil or something idk) poe is getting suspicious now also finn feels the force and takes up the lightsaber. rey comes and finn trys to hold her off. finn get hurt and drops lightsaber. ben is forced to take it up and his identity is revealed as rebel reeforcements led by han and leia arrive and they see him fighting. rey and ben have a weird charged moment (yes i guess i am still making reylo a thing but its reyben now and its woke so shh) and in a dramatic desperate effort he manages to knock her lightsaber away with the force. poe crawls into a plane at somepoint and blows up reys ship. the rebels destroy the stormtroopers but rey captures finn and escapes in a stolen ship.

ben has a oh-shit-i-said-id-never-use-the-force-again related existential crisis which makes him freak out and leaves. a distraught finn-less poe calls him a coward. poe picks up the discarded lightsaber and the jackettm and sadly packs them up. leia tells him about the starkiller and poe volunteers to go on the starkiller and save finn. han and leia have a sweet moment and han decides to go with poe on the suicide mission, chewie goes too.(chewie arrived at somepoint i guess)

mid hostage situation finn blocks reys force attempt and shes shook up. he sees something in her (finn is a beautiful sweetheart) and he trys to appeal to her. she force chokes him and books it out of there. but it is clear she fears him a little. he escapes with mind tricks and runs into han poe and chewie on the deck. finnpoe moment fr. poe gives him his jacket back in order to get the keep it it looks good on you line.

meanwhile ben is back on his ship(i guess its the falcon?) and he thinks about finn and his mom and luke or something.. a dream maybe?? idk something emotional and motivational for his arc. and he goes to a box under the floor in his ship and pulls out a green lightsaber. he turns the ship around.

on the ship poe finn han and chewie are planting the bombs and escaping when they get stopped by stormtroopers ordered by rey. poe is about to be shot by a big droid thing when it is cut in half by ben wow big reveal hes here oooo ah. rey is shot in the shoulder by chewie and angrily orders more stormtroopers. they cant take them all. han sacrifices himself by blowing up the bridge. he tells finn and poe to find luke in the mandolorian colony ben is distraught him and han have an emotional goodbye he tells him to tell leia he’s sorry and that he loves him and he proud of him then he makes chewy get ben out of there and he blows himself up. leia senses it v sad rip man but he had to die to intensify plot drama

rey chases them onto the ice planet and another weird charged moment. mind link established??? this time ben is too angry and grieving though so its not a good match and she wounds him real bad all over hes v scarred now. poe shoots at rey and throws lightsaber at finn. he gets ben onto the ship and finn and rey have the big force awakens show down. finn uses the force v powerful all that jazz the good guys get away. on the ship finn mentions how he felt a connection with rey to poe and claims he sees good in her

movie ends with meeting luke on mandolore. ben is very traumatised wont really speak to finn or poe and avoiding luke. finn returns lukes lightsaber and rey has doubts movie over. movies ends with ominous rey ben mind link

final notes (on first movie and overarching rewrite plans)

finn

finn is the protagonist of this movie so it would be much more character heavy on him them the original. more in depth on his stormtrooper trauma, how he always chooses the people he loves over the cause and his reluctance to join the rebellion. his friendship with poe and the han/leia parallel’s especially. relationships with han and ben important for his character exposition and he plays a key role in supporting both rey and bens character progression. possesses the strong sense of mercy and kindness at the heart of the star wars franchise.

rey

rey is raised in the first empire and does not know anything different. when she meets finn who was able to rebel and escape from the same system she is trapped in she becomes plagued by doubts and projects all of her hatred and resentment onto finn to compensate, but it is clear she fears him. to escape from her doubts she fixates on finding and capturing ben solo imagining him to be a frightening and terrible adversary. however when she meets him they see eachothers minds, and she sees how plagued by doubt and fear he is, how he runs from everything and he sees her too. they connect and develop a strange mutual fascination/understanding. this is put askew by finns appearance at the end of the movie in defence of ben. reys fear of finn increases when she sees the true extent of his power. she fears and hates equally finns strength of character and easy goodness and by extension hates ben for his alliance with finn. she blames finn for “taking” ben from her.

ben solo

kylo ren is a disgusting blight on the star wars names so ben solo is being completely reclaimed by me into a different character because i fucking hate that stupid pretentious eboy. instead ben solo is an incredibly han solo coded character with a heart of gold and deep love and loyalty to his friends and family. his main weakness as a character in this rewrite is his fear and lack of self belief. ben is terrified of being a jedi and of his own power. he fears his own nature and was so afraid he would become his grandfather that he ran from the jedi altogether. ben solo is a runner that wont face his problems, he runs from the jedi and from his parents to avoid failing or becoming something terrible. finn and ben recognise the need to run in eachother (although important distinction finn runs because he doesn’t want to fight for a cause. and ben runs because hes afraid he will be the reason the cause fails) and ultimately encourage eachother to break the cycle and stand their ground (well finn motivated ben in this movie, finns not fixed yet.) Bens arc in these movies is about learning to live with his own nature and fighting for what he believes in despite his fear. also dealing with mommy issues (ben is kind of jealous of poe and leias relationship the son she wanted or something blah blah blah etc) and being a malewife to his murder girlfriend. his job is kind of to support and fight with finn and later rey and help them save the world

finnpoe (will be a gay couple)

their friendship will be front and centre in these movies because they represent duty vs personal loyalty. poe puts the cause above all else and values his own life and personal relationships little. finn on the other hand is disillusioned with establishment cause of stormtrooper trauma and wants to protect himself and others from it. poe is the first person that finn truly bonds with and loves. he puts poe above everything, including being a jedi and the rebellion. this leads to a lot of fighting and discord between finn and poe as finn doesn’t understand how important the rebellion is to poe and poe doesnt get why finn is trying to protect him from it. ultimately though poe teaches finn faith and belief and finn teaches poe to accept love and value himself. (also many hanleia parallels) the two of them are the harbingers of a new age. poe as future leader of the new republic and finn as the jedi messiah or whatever. in terms of romance, im thinking slowburn. baity first movie, kiss at the end of the second and established relationship by the halfway mark of the third.

also when rey eventually joins the light in the beginning she refuses to talk to ben (cause of romantic drama i havent thought of yet but centres around some sort or betrayal in the second movie) or finn (because hes her narrative foil and slow burn best friend forever) so her first friend is poe and she kind of follows him around in her first few months before she eventually bonds with finn 4eva. her poe shadowing has lots of cute friend moments where they fly together and he tries to talk her down about finn and the ben drama but also more importantly it foreshadows her leadership ability and tactical mind as she gives him advice and aids him with the rebellion behind the scenes (also leads to leia taking rey under her wing probably because poe is her surrogate son and mirror) which will eventually lead to her and poe leading the republic together because in my mind rey is a jedi but actively a member of republic government because ben can’t do politics and finn won’t but shes great at it so she’d be a perfect jedi liason and vice president to poe. meanwhile finn and ben lead the jedi. finn as a knight travelling across the galaxy and ben as a teacher. (luke is happy in retirement rn on mandalore but leia is still probably an advisor in the republic because retirement is definitely not for her) and everyone is happy the end. force ghost han solo is clapping.

Luke’s Love Life Headcanons

-Biggs was his first kiss and his first real love back on Tatooine, their relationship got put on pause when Biggs left for the Academy and Luke and was kinda looking forward to resuming and building on their relationship with him in the rebellion-and then Biggs immediately dies, WHOOPS

-Had a tiny crush on Han over the course of A New Hope but Leia staked her claim quite quickly, even if it took several more years for her to admit it, so he let that one go without much of a fight

-Luke and Wedge had a casual relationship during the rebellion, with Luke still kinda burned from his relationship with Biggs so they weren’t really serious, never exclusive and their were no deep romantic feelings there as the war always came first, but it was a good distraction and made for quite a few fun nights and a handful of dates on spare time. They kinda just naturally drifted apart after Endor when Luke got more caught up with doing Jedi stuff, but they are still very good friends

-Him and Lando also had a casual friends-with-benefits relationship that lasted about until Luke got more settled down with Din, Lando makes for a REALLY good sugar daddy, brilliant in bed and will spoil you rotten

-After the events of Mandalorian season 2, newly minted Mand’alore Din keeps visiting Luke’s Jedi school and one thing leads to another, with both being able to relate to the other’s struggle to rebuild their culture, and Luke realizes for the first time since Biggs he might be in LOVE love and that led to a confession and oh force Din liked him BACK and they kinda got in a relationship after that, though it was kinda a long distance one. Still their connection was strong enough that that did not matter and a few years later they got married, one for Luke’s people at the Jedi temple and another for Din’s people in the Mandalorian style. They don’t have any biological children but they adopt a girl Luke finds on Jakku named Rey so they have two kids, Grogu and Rey

listen: i was originally a star wars slut (og blog was @scavengerrey for proof), so it only makes sense that i do this. the writing juices are not...…juicy atm so here’s some scraps in the form of who the hell i think these drivers would be in a star wars au!! i've seen a bunch of other au's floating around, so i figured i'd give it shot for what i know best. enjoy!! 🤍

max verstappen — he’s in his anakin skywalker jedi knight era rn. not evil but he certainly flirts with it—like anakin in the first half of ROTS. he could become darth fucking vader if he wants to, but he’s resisting it and comfortable in his dominance.  a semi-benevolent dictator, if you will.

checo perez — probably some kind of popular senator or corrupt (but benevolent) ruler of an outer rim haven. not a main player but important enough.

charles leclerc — he reminds me of a young ahsoka, almost? very idealistic and rigid in his belief of rules and order. it’s yet to be seen if he’ll follow a similar path to her and throw off the association (ferrari = jedi order, ig ????) of those who trained him, which i think he may need to reach his full destiny. alternatively: bo-katan.

carlos sainz — he reminds me of a mandalorian, maybe din djarin but much more affable and less serious. he is very oriented to a sense of belonging and family, but he is still searching for his own. also, not force-sensitive but he can still get shit done if that makes sense. his father passed his armor down to him and he is doing his best to live up to his reputation.

lewis hamilton — soooooo obi-wan kenobi it hurts. more fast & loose with his temper and rationale when he was younger, more refined & respected as he’s aged; accepting of his faults with age, and understands his greater purpose, too. he just oozes jedi that is disillusioned with his training and is questioning (and has been questioning) the system that raised him. what he does know are his own abilities and he trusts himself in those. in terms of eras, mclaren = TPM, mercedes = the clone wars, ferrari = ROTS and beyond?

george russell — he is leia!!!! force-adept but not necessarily jedi-trained. also, the sass alone is just very fitting for him. incredible hair. icon4icon.

lando norris — he’s giving luke skywalker on tatooine before he realizes he’s force-sensitive. iykyk. uncle owen just asked him to make a run to most eisley and he's got a hand on one hip, ready to complain.

oscar piastri — after seeing this piece by @unknownaster, i can’t see him as anything other than another anakin or luke towards the end of their padawan training.  he’s on dagobah rn and yoda is taunting him while he carries him around like a fucking backpack. will have to learn to hone his use of the force to work on tire management.

fernando alonso — he’s sith and there’s no doubting that. actually, scratch that: he’s mandalorian. (ig spaniards are just mandalorians ??) a lot of personal tragedy (read: terrible, terrible career decisions) and his loyalty is not easily won.  ig that makes flavio his equivalent of the armorer or clan leader ??? something like that ??? he lives a fairly solitary life and he's okay with that.

lance stroll — he has padme vibes but there’s someone else i’m reserving that for. similar origins, i think, but with less heroics and less concern for grander politics of the galaxy.  he enjoys a lush life as royalty of some verdant mid-rim planet where not much is expected from him other than don’t fuck shit up and be pretty (honestly jealous of this ngl). this piece by @penaltyboxboxbox is an obvious inspo for me <3

nico hulkenberg + kevin magnussen — bounty hunters alllllll the way.  not mandalorian, but bounty hunters. they’re tired, trying to bring home the bacon, and caring family men at home. probably neighbors who bicker over their moisture farming on the side but let the other borrow some blue milk here or there.

daniel ricciardo — han solo but TFA!han solo. his glory days are behind him but he’s still got a few tricks up his sleeve here and there. beloved but probably problematic.

yuki tsunoda — for his sake, i’m just going to say he’s the owner or head chef of a galaxy-renowned restaurant in the upper levels of coruscant. fiery and verbose temper but he loves his patrons and employees fiercely. if he can't own a restaurant in this life, then you can be damn sure he'll own one in a fictional one.

alex albon — this C3PO ass motherfucker. sassy, funny, generally beloved. he would HAVE to be a sassy droid, it just makes the most sense. lily is obviously his master.

logan sergeant — resistance or new republic x-wing pilot. skilled pilot but struggles at times. earnest and craves approval. trying to prove himself the best he can, but worries he’s let one too many smugglers slip past his watch. still, he has lots of options in the galaxy, and if the x-wing gig doesn’t work out, he can probably get another flying job in the outer rim.

pierre gasly — he really gives lando calrissian. the flair, the attempt at fashion…the horniness. it all checks out.

esteban ocon — he is most definitely rey. scrapping and scavenging since the beginning for a spot in the sport pairs well with our scavenger rey. idk if he’d have the same force sensitivities (i think that’s reserved for a very select group of drivers tbqh), but his persistence is impressive nonetheless.

valtteri bottas — moisture farmer just trying to mind his own business. was a rebel alliance fighter but has now retired to some desert planet where he can live out the rest of his life in peace and away from the commotion of his youth.

zhou guanyu — like checo, probably a senator of a wealthy family from a mid-rim planet who’s well-respected but frequently flies under the radar. key negotiator, fashion trendsetter.

toto wolff — grand moff tarkin. smart and cunning at times, but hubris is his downfall.

zak brown — owner of a shady ass casino/tavern/saloon in the outer rim. do not trust him as far as you can throw him.

It was going to be a quick jump back to base. Han hated to see Leia take off on her own for some kind of Jedi training he never got the memo on, but he was glad he got to see it at all. His eye sight was mostly back now. Lando wouldn't let him pilot them off of Tatooine in the sandstorm though, so Han sat at the Dejerak table, waiting to see if the prince would join him for a game or something.

Luke had fled to Han's room and shut the door soon after they made it back to the ship. He'd been able to borrow some additional outer layers, but not many. Han hadn't actually seen him in the gold-trimmed loin cloth, but Lando mentioned it being "pretty unfortunate. It would have been hot anywhere else." Between the sand that had surely made it's way into every sensitive crack on his body, and Jabba's slimy tongue, he couldn't blame him for taking off to the shower before Han could even ask what are we?

Han tried to focus his eyes on the meter for the Falcon's water supply, which he was sure was slowly slipping down as Luke showered. Han ran a hand through his hair, trying to shake out the sand. The ship's data readings looked blurrier than they usually did at this distance. Han started to panic that the carbonite had seriously damaged his eyes.

"Your eyesight should return to normal soon," he heard Luke say. He turned. Luke was a blurry vision himself -- just a rough outline of colors standing down the hall, but still gorgeous despite the blurred edges of his frame.

Han never quite understood how he knew exactly what he was thinking. "If it doesn't, the Rebellion can help restore it. They replaced Leia's hand."

"What happened to Leia's hand?" Han asked as Luke came into focus. He was wearing his own clothes now, tan fatigues that were more well-tailored than anything the average soldier got, his wet hair combed down to one side.

"She lost it against Vader," he said simply, "trying to save you."

Han leaned back in the booth, spreading his arms across the back of the seat, inviting Luke to sit. Han was no mind reader, but he knew what Luke thought -- that he and Leia were something. Maybe they could have been, but Han's eye was always somewhere else. Once he saw the prince covered in garbage, shouting at him, he was a gonner.

"A lot happened in the last few days, then," Han said.

Luke's eyes widened before he forced his face back into a diplomatic, neutral gaze. "It's been six months, Han."

Han buried the sudden rush of existential horror that brought on, taking a deep breath through his nose to stifle the knot in gut and lump in his throat. He'd deal with that later.

"Took you guys that long to rescue me?" He tried to joke.

Luke finally sat next to him. Up close he could see the bags under his eyes, a bruise the peaked up above the collar of his shirt, and the red spots on his otherwise flawless skin.

Luke started to respond, but Han cut him off, choosing to be honest for once in his life. "You all did your best. I appreciate you coming after me like that."

Luke nodded. The air started to feel thicker, and Han felt his finger tips start to itch with anticipation. Luke was scooting closer to him, pressing the outside of his thigh up against Han's. Luke's head turned towards Han just a little; he looked the rest of the way with his eyes. There was something cunning and determined in them, and Han understood finally that this is what it looked like to be seduced by royalty. Oh if only Leia could see him now. She might have been his best friend (besides Chewie, of course), but she never had any faith he'd pull it off.

The silence between them told Han now it's your turn. He's said it twice, now say it back.

"I know," Luke grinned. Luke threw his arms around Han's shoulders, letting the romantic moment hang for just a few seconds before using the leverage to climb into Han's lap.
