❏ STREAMING MEDIA ❏
Streaming media is multimedia that is constantly received by and presented to an end-userwhile being delivered by a provider. The verb to stream refers to the process of delivering orobtaining media in this manner.[clarification needed] Streaming refers to the deliverymethod of the medium, rather than the medium itself. Distinguishing delivery method fromthe media distributed applies specifically to telecommunications networks, as most of thedelivery systems are either inherently streaming (e.g. radio, television, streaming apps) orinherently non-streaming (e.g. books, video cassettes, audio CDs). There are challengeswith streaming content on the Internet. For example, users whose Internet connectionlacks sufficient bandwidth may experience stops, lags, or slow buffering of the content. Andusers lacking compatible hardware or software systems may be unable to stream certaincontent. Live streaming is the delivery of Internet content in real-time much as livetelevision broadcasts content over
the airwaves via a television signal. Live internet streaming requires a form of source media(e.g. a video camera, an audio interface, screen capture software), an encoder to digitize thecontent, a media publisher, and a content delivery network to distribute and deliver thecontent. Live streaming does not need to be recorded at the origination point, although itfrequently is. Streaming is an alternative to file downloading, a process in which the end-user obtains the entire file for the content before watching or listening to it. Throughstreaming, an end-user can use their media player to start playing digital video or digitalaudio content before the entire file has been transmitted. The term “streaming media” canapply to media other than video and audio, such as live closed captioning, ticker tape, andreal-time text, which are all considered “streaming text”.
❏ COPYRIGHT CONTENT ❏
Copyright is a type of intellectual property that gives its owner the exclusive right to make copies of a creative work, usually for a limited time. The creative work may be in a literary, artistic, educational, or musical form. Copyright is intended to protect the original expression of an idea in the form of a creative work, but not the idea itself. A copyright is subject to limitations based on public interest considerations, such as the fair use doctrine in the United States. Some jurisdictions require “fixing” copyrighted works in a tangible form. It is often shared among multiple authors, each of whom holds a set of rights to use or license the work, and who are commonly referred to as rights holders.[citation needed] These rights krequently include reproduction, control over derivative works, distribution, public performance, and moral rights such as attribution.
Copyrights can be granted by public law and are in that case considered “territorial rights”. This means that copyrights granted by the law of a certain state, do not extend beyond the territory of that specific jurisdiction. Copyrights of this type vary by country; many countries, and sometimes a large group of countries, have made agreements with other countries on procedures applicable when works “cross” national borders or national rights are inconsistent. Typically, the public law duration of a copyright expires 50 to 100 years after the creator dies, depending on the jurisdiction. Some countries require certain copyright formalities to establishing copyright, others recognize copyright in any completed work, without a formal registration. It is widely believed that copyrights are a must to foster cultural diversity and creativity. However, Parc argues that ry to prevailing beliefs, imitation and copying do not restrict cultural creativity or diversity but in fact support them further. This argument has been supported by many examples such as Millet and Van Gogh, Picasso, Manet, and Monet, etc.

'Evanston Salt Costs Climbing,' Arbery's Excellent Play is a Must-See
This is another Will Arbery work that is a must-see.
(L to R): Ken Leung and Jeb Kreager in Evanston Salt Costs Climbing (courtesy of Monique Carboni) In the microcosm is the macrocosm. This is especially so in the setting Will Arbery presents in Evanston Salt Costs Climbing, the sardonic, metaphysical-realistic 95-minute play acutely directed by Danya Taymor, currently at the Signature Theatre presented by The New Group. A key theme of Arbery’s…

The Punisher(S01E05): "Gunner"
The Punisher(S01E05): “Gunner”
So with this episode it was interesting thats for sure, but all I can really say is that I’m really impressed so far with Jon Bernthal’s take on Frank/Punisher it makes the character so interesting and I love that. I love how we get both the man who punishes evil and the man who actually has a heart for human beings in this series. But it shows also that his friendships are tested. In this…

Beware The Mannequins (Hell House LLC, 2015)
Beware The Mannequins (Hell House LLC, 2015)
Not to be confused with the 2001 documentary Hell House (about a “Hell House” meant to scare people into accepting Jesus), Hell House LLC is a found footage film that follows filmmakers who are investigating horrifying tragedy that left fifteen dead in a Halloween Haunted House tour.  There was only one survivor of the crew and she is now providing the documentarians with access. As the footage…

In my 125th review I take a look at The Punisher 1x05 “Gunner”
Spoilers Below
This is probably the biggest macro episode of the show so far, but it’s still very much grounded in a single episode story. We see David and Frank head into the forest to find Gunner (played by Jeb Kreager from Outsiders) one of the former members of Frank’s team in Kandahar. It leads into an episode of cat a mouse between Frank and Gunner and a squad of men sent by Agent Orange, who we now know as Rawlins (played by Paul Schulze from Nurse Jackie and Zodiac).
This episode falls a little flat, with there being little tension in the show at this point. Most of the good tension in the earlier parts of the series where because of Frank restraining himself, and the audience wondering when he was going to crack. Now that he isn’t holding back anymore, there isn’t a lot of tension in the action scene that made up the majority of the last quarter of the episode. The show also hasn’t made me super invested in these characters, which is a problem, and means that putting these characters in dangerous situations doesn’t yield a strong reaction.
Around that thread though, there were a lot of big macro movements. Rawlins is going to be deputy director of the CIA and now knows that Frank is alive, meaning we have a much bigger antagonistic force coming towards our lead characters. We also have Karen Page getting brought in to be questioned by Dinah about Frank. On top of the Dinah and Billy hook up, in what feels purely physical, at least on Dinah’s end.
Overall, this episode is solid narrative, but it ends up showcasing failings earlier in the season in getting us attached to these characters. 7/10

The Week in Theater The Week in News The Week in Videos
#Stageworthy News. “Dear Senators: Without your immediate action for financial relief by Aug. 1, we will collapse, and the result will be an economic cataclysm.” declares an “open letter,” signed by hundreds of members of the theater community, calling for an extension of Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation (FPUC) by Aug. 1, and $43.85 billion in economic relief for arts and culture institutions.
As actor and activist Nick Westrate writes in the Daily Beast, American Theater Workers Urgently Need Financial Help. The Government Must Step In. “Earlier this week, a New York Times article read: Hands are out as Congress is set to begin negotiating a new round of pandemic stimulus. Airlines, hotels, restaurants. Military contractors and banks. Even Broadway actors.’ That “even” hit many of us working theater artists hard. Let me tell you why.
“The arts in New York City is a major economic engine. According to a study commissioned last year by the Mayor’s Office of Arts and Entertainment, theater is responsible for $1.3 billion in annual economic output, 8,409 jobs, and $513 million in salaries. The Broadway closedown, effective from March 12, has had a massive financial impact on New York, and a massive personal impact on those who work within it….The only path forward is sustained financial relief until the virus is under control, and our industry must be taken seriously.”
Actors Equity released the following statement: “Equity members want to go back to work, but the industry has been shut down since March because in most states, it is still not safe for mass gatherings,” said Kate Shindle, President of Actors’ Equity Association. “The artists who fuel our gigantic, nationwide economic engine have gone months without work, and the weekly $600 included in the CARES Act is all that is keeping our workers afloat as they stare down an uncertain future. How much longer will Senator McConnell wait to bring up the HEROES Act for a vote? The Senate must act.”

The Week in Theater News
Actor T. Oliver Reid and choreographer Warren Adams have created a new organization,  the Black Theatre Coalition, that aims to “remove the illusion of inclusion” and increase opportunities for Black theater professionals. Their effort “is already making an impact: When Broadway resumes, a revival of the Stephen Sondheim-George Furth musical “Company,” has committed to hiring 10 young black men and women for paid internships…”
“Theatre Can’t Miss This Moment”: Awesome Audra McDonald talks with Michael Schulman about her career, recovering from suicide attempt during @Juilliard, turning 50, life in quarantine …and co-founding Black Theatre United, pushing for change:
“When you look at Broadway or theatre in general, it may look, like, “Well, there was a Black person in that ensemble” or “someone was playing the Black best friend” or “you just had ‘Tina’ on Broadway.” But, a lot of times when you go backstage, there’s no color in the I.A.T.S.E., in the wardrobe union, the hair-and-makeup union, the stage managers. People in casting—I can’t think of a single person of color…”
