Sorry to ask you, but first I want to congratulate you for having 1000 followers, and secondly, one question. Who do you think would best play Donald's nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie? Since I saw you complained about their voices? It's just purely out of curiosity. Thank you. 😁
Hi and sorry for the late reply, and thank you very much for these words of yours.
I assume you saw my post about my comments for Donald's nephews at House of Mouse. I absolutely do not like how they sounded there. Yes, it's a bit of a complicated topic, but I think Donald's nephews would sound best like boys their own age. After all, the boys are smart, albeit naughty, but they would sound much better that way. They were at their best in these educational cartoons like "Scrooge McDuck and Money" from 1967 and "Donald's Fire Survival Plan" from 1965. Dick Beals played them and I know Mellomen played them too.

However, even though many people don't like her, I think Russi Taylor voiced them as well as Webby in OG Ducktales. And then she gave their voices in several cartoons. And she gave voices so that if you listened carefully you could tell by the tone which was which Donald's nephews. It sounds funny, but those who followed the OG Ducktales closely would certainly know. You could imagine their voices while reading Donald Duck comics. Of course, Clarence Nash's voice wouldn't be bad, but that would be more true for old comics, while for newer ones more voices than Russi Taylor or boys of their age. Unfortunately she passed away five years ago and the big question is who could replace her to do her voice for Huey, Dewey and Louie. I hope they find some good voice actresses for it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of course, actresses like Jeannie Elias, Pamela Adlon and Elizabeth G. Daily did a great job of portraying Donald's nephews in the Quack Pack and did a good job of voicing Donald's teenage nephews. Too bad they didn't give them another chance to play Donald's nephews properly afterwards. As for Ducktales 2017, I know everyone praises that version, although I didn't like it, but that doesn't mean it's not a good version. However, the most I dislike about them are their voices, which absolutely did not sound like boys of their age, but as if they were 20 years old. I know it's pretty trendy in modern cartoons to have famous TV and movie actors play boys, but somehow it doesn't always work. You know about Danny Pudi, Ben Schwartz, and Bobby Moynihan who played Huey, Dewey, and Louie Duck in Ducktales 2017. Let's face it, those actors are very good, but they just kind of gave me bad voices in a way that didn't even sound like boys from 11 years old, already from 21 and older, which is quite annoying. For me, I wouldn't want Donald's nephews to sound like that in the future. Although with how Disney treats all these characters, I can only say that I expect only negative experiences and nothing more.
This is only for the original version, while for the dubbing of other countries Donald's nephews are mostly played by boys or female actresses and they did a good job. In my opinion, the best Latin American Spanish, Spanish and Hungarian dubbing. Another interesting fact is that for the German dub a male voice actor voiced Donald's nephews in Quack Pack, while in the French dub the voice actors who voiced Dewey and Louie in Quack Pack also voiced the same characters in Ducktales 2017. Although they have totally different personalities. XD But I hope you understand what I'm talking about.
Tumblr media
Certainly, in my opinion, it would be preferable if in the future Donald's nephews are played by someone who knows how to do children's voices or do voices like the late Russi Taylor did or they are played by boys their own age. That's how I imagine them talking while reading Donald Duck comics. However, this is just my opinion. I hope you are happy with this and I apologize to others if this bothered them, I was just stating my opinion.

For many of the earliest JumpStart games, a large number of characters were voiced by just two people, Tony Pope and Jeannie Elias. Together, they provided the original voices for many iconic characters, such as Frankie, Hopsalot, Eleanor, Kisha, Pierre and Botley. Each of them voiced an entire game's cast of characters on at least one occasion (Tony Pope voiced all characters in JumpStart Kindergarten (1994), and Jeannie Elias did the same for JumpStart Preschool (1995) and JumpStart Pre-K). This video highlights some of the vocal performances of both actors.

Have a snippet from the first chapter of the Grave Bound Redux.
Book One: The Folly of War
              Chapter 1
The razor buzzed with menace as the metal teeth scraped at the back of his neck. Another tuft of thick hair fell to the ground, mirroring the men in the chairs to either side. Elias cringed, eyes closed as the trimming continued.
“Stop wincing, Nancy.” the army man grunted, continuing to shave the shaggy mop until the private was left a jarhead. “Hair’s too fucking long, anyways.”
Tears were held back as it felt like an entire identity was being swallowed by the painful uniformity of the military. He wasn’t an individual anymore but a cog in a brutal machine. It didn’t help that he’d been served divorce papers a day earlier. A punch to the gut in spite of being expected. Elias supposed he hoped that Jeannie would give up the LSD and sleazy Los Angeles parties for him.
Apparently that was incorrect.
Then he had the choice between jail time or joining the fight in Vietnam. He should’ve just done the seven years instead of risking his life for God knew how long. The man to his left looked to be no older than eighteen, stony face still chubby with baby fat. Pink lips quivered as the kid attempted to stay strong. They all knew there was a good chance they were being shipped out to their graves from Fort Ord.
“You’re done, private.” The man exclaimed before pushing him up onto booted feet. Elias felt naked as he left the tent before falling into line with the rest of the men. A mob of army greens, he walked in a trance amongst hopeful soldiers ready to serve.
They shipped out at sunrise, taking a chopper to base camp at Cu Chi.
His gut churned as he wondered how long he’d last. A day? A month? An entire year? That was if he could keep himself alive that long.
Tomorrow they flew out to Vietnam. 25th Infantry.
Manhood felt as though it was delayed until this moment, being thrown into the jaws of a raging war. Even the leader of the free world cared a little about the men that were dying. He’d become another statistic and no one would think a thing about it.
“You excited, Grodin?” Doyle, another private, clapped him on the shoulder. The kid was all but twenty years old and green as summer grass. Scrawny with the bristle of chestnut hair decorating his skull, it became apparent that he was ecstatic to be shipped into the thick of it. Ready to wield a an AK-47 and pick off those commie bastards.
It was surprising how many people actually felt that way.
“Delighted.” He added flatly, pulling a pack of cigarettes from one pocket. One was offered to Doyle who gladly accepted. “Ready to start my tour and get it over with.”
“Aren’t you ready to do your part? Do your duty for Uncle Sam?” The kid rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly, unprepared for someone so unimpressed with the reality of war. Afterall, it did feel rather treasonous not to support one’s country.
Elias didn’t care.
“Guess I’m doing it now, private.” A plume of smoke expelled from wide lips as he headed back to the barracks.

We saw the Mario movie to-day !  Saw it with a friend, which is a rarity these days as I don’t have many local ones.  It was one of the greatest movies of all time
-- I wore my Super Mario Periodic Table shirt for the occasion; I looked very hot in it.  I used to have 3 slightly different ones like that
-- The Super Mario Super Show theme !  And, I heard that was Jeannie Elias in the commercial
-- He should have a Brooklyn accent, though.  And of course, Luigi should sound like Mario with a sore throat [as my brother once said]
-- I liked all the Easter Eggs, not only Mario but other Nintendo games as well.  “I get that !” I’d think to myself
-- Earlier, I wondered if they were cramming a few too many games in at once [Mainline Mario, Mario Kart, Donkey Kong Country, WRECKING CREW].  Maybe Donkey Kong could’ve been his own movie; one doesn’t really think of Mario and Donkey Kong as travelling companions in this sense
-- I was surprised how often they averted Never Say Die here [not unlike the SMB1 manual]  And Bowser trying to kill guys that he doesn’t even need to !  Problematic Fave
-- Brave and loyal depiction of Toad, not unlike in Mario Warfare.  Well, maybe not exactly like Mario Warfare....
-- Having grown up with the Mario, I never really thought much about some aspects of the lore.  Such as the rest of Mario & Luigi’s family.  He always says “Mama Mia” but who is his mother ?  Is she a MILH, etc. ?  Well, you can decide for yourself
-- I thought it was gonna be a Fire Flower in the bouquet.  They sure showed me
-- I pretty much guessed the ending; not unlike Sonic 2′s ending [the movie].  But, I hoped it’d be Mario and Luigi together because it’s just gotta be !

Note
I dunno if it's true or not, but there's a rumor going around that the woman in that commercial is voiced by Jeannie Elias, who played Princess Toadstool on Super Show.
Indeed, that's what I've heard, if so, that's a pretty awesome touch.

SUPPORT
THIS
DOCUMENTARY
(and @cartoonnetwork in general, regardless of their limited programming and quality these days)
An entire series of behind the scenes with the cast and crew of The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy AKA Grim & Evil... this would be really something to air on Cartoon Network or Checkered Past!
As for the Patreon, interviews with Jennifer Hale, Brett Varon, Guy Moon, Glenn E. Oyabe & Jesse Aruda, Marc Perry, Eric Robles, Renee Raudman, Robert Alvarez (among other Burbank animation directors involved), Chris Savino, Brian Sheesley, Rich Childlaw, Chris Mitchell, Vincent Waller, Jeannie Elias, Alex Amalguer, Tara Strong, Shaun Cashman, Genndy Tartakovsky, and Rachel MacFarlane among others I would just love to see! Chris Reccardi passed but perhaps Lynne Naylor would know about what he did on B&M?
Tweet version here.
They left me no choice.
The animation industry is an absolute trash fire right now, and TBH... I don't think it's going to recover. Not in a form I recognize, anyway.
I could go on all day about the self-hating monster that is the Animation Business, but I've said it all before. Right now, none of the major studios are making much of anything, and almost all of what they are making is "library content". I'm currently doing storyboard revisions alongside a number of other former producers and directors, and I'm lucky to have the work. Once all of the mismanagement and the mergers get sorted, though, there should be plenty of room for more mismanagement and mergers. And the A.I. Don't forget the A.I.
It seems that I either give myself over fully to the souring corporate teat in the hopes that I can pretend that I still live in a world where "the grind" matters. Or I take a risk and make one big push to do... something.
First up:
Billy & Mandy vs. The Entertainment Industry:
This is my interview/reality/documentary show on the making of The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy from stem to stern. I'll be talking to as many people as I can who worked on the show about all sorts of different parts of the process. We'll definitely get to voice actors, but the first segment is probably going to be about Billy & Mandy's pre-history and the Big Pick Weekend.
The Upward Expedition:
This is my pick for my indie show. I have a bible. I have a decade of ideas. Time to sit down and tell a story. I want to get some screen sharing going at some point. I'll definitely share artwork as well as the trials and tribulations of getting from There to Back Again.
I'd love to get a Discord server going and provide a place where people can talk about the stuff I'm making (and the entertainment industry in general). I still have enough Billy & Mandy swag left that I'm sure I'll factor that stuff in as well.
In the immediate future, the funding goes to securing a space to do the interviews and probably to banking money for voice actors. I'm still deciding on my update schedule, but it should start in earnest next week.
I'm excited. Pretty scared... but also excited.
More updates to come. Definitely let me know if there's anything specific you'd like to see on the Patreon!
As always, thanks for sticking around!
