Here are those leaked Multiversus lines anon told me about (courtesy of @AusilMV on Twitter)!
…I really don’t like how some of the lines are written. But who am I to look a gift Powerpuff in the mouth (as the saying goes)? 😂 They are beautifully voiced by three of the best VAs in the world and I’m happy just to hear them. 🥰

Streets of Fire
Tumblr media
Summary: Ex-soldiers Tom Cody (Michael Paré) and McCoy (Amy Madigan) set out to rescue Cody's ex-girlfriend Ellen (Diane Lane) from a biker gang led by Raven Shaddock (Willem Dafoe).
Absorbing neon-noir tale with brash Diane Lane and middle finger to chronological consistency. Surprised at lack of wider queer readings.
Rating: 3.75/5

Yesterday, I finally watched 1983's Valley Girl!
It's a Romeo and Juliet-esque kind of story about a "Valley Girl" who falls for a Hollywood boy after breaking up with her "boring" (her words) Valley boyfriend. The Hollywood boy is Nicholas Cage's character, Randy. A punk rock loving guy who she is just so intrigued by. And ultimately chooses, despite her friends disapproving.
The movie is fun (dare I say, like totally bitchin'), and VERY 80s! This was Nick Cage's first major role, too. So that's cool. It also has a great new wave/post punk soundtrack, which really adds to it!
(I'd love to know how many times the word f*ck is used in this film. Because it is definitely a lot lol Oh, and 4 sets of boobies are shown. Including E.G. Dailys...which was hella weird to see).
And the 80s Valley talk, made me wanna bring some of it back. Lots of "Like", "Totally", "Bitchin", and "Tubular!" It's so filled with it that I started to laugh and repeat after them after a while 😂

I am SO BUMMED because I just saw this online and would love to go see all four of these amazing badasses at once, but my odds of attending are very slim. 😭 But if you’re near Chicago and can go to C2E2, the gang’s gonna be there! It’s in late April!

Spicy City (1997)
In today's review, I find there are countless stories, digitised in the city As I attempt a #positive review of the 1997 mature animated series, Spicy City #MichellePhillips #JamesKeane #BarryStigler #MaryMara #JohnHostetter #VinceMelocchi #AlexFernandez
It is hard to think that there was a time when the internet, and computers, were seen as a confusing impenetrable wilderness, filled with unsavoury characters, and reacquiring great amounts of deal and effort to navigate. Sustaining a lot of uncertainty, which fuelled mistrust, and in turn, drew a certain kind of person to the burgeoning technology like a moth to the flame. In 1997, during an era…

I heard the song "Holding Out for a Hero" earlier today; it probably reminds most people of Footloose or Shrek, but it always makes e think of the 1984 TV series Cover Up and the sudden, accidental death of its leading man, a rising young star named Jon-Erik Hexum.
I remember being glued to the TV as a kid as the story unfolded. At first they thought he might live, then they operated and saw the extent of the injuries, then they had to withdraw all medications to make sure there was no brain activity before he could be declared dead.
It's common knowledge nowadays that it's standard procedure, but in a world where the first successful heart transplant had only occurred 17 years previously, it was shocking to most people to hear that he was kept on life support until recipients were found for his donated organs. I remember reading at the time that there was an uptick in registered organ donors after his death, so at least having those details in the news did serve some positive purpose.
He would be 67 now. Same age as Steve Buscemi or Daniel Day-Lewis.
Although the original and more famous version of "Holding Out for a Hero" was recorded by Bonnie Tyler, the cover version that was used in the opening sequence of Cover Up was sung by E.G. Daily, who was Hexum's girlfriend at the time. She's better-known today as a voice actor, with roles in Rugrats and The Powerpuff Girls. The series itself was chock-full of cover versions of Top 10 hits of the day. They probably had an easier time than shows like WKEP and Miami Vice, who used the actual recordings, paid more in licensing fees, and then had all kinds of trouble when they wanted to show reruns.

(It's kind of creepy that a disembodied hand fires a gun at the camera when his name comes up in the credits.)

Fandango (1985, dir. Kevin Reynolds) - review by Rookie-Critic
Tumblr media
Fandango was a fun buddy road trip movie. The different set pieces and scenes were mostly funny and and it's pretty cool to see a very young Kevin Costner (in his first major starring role). The first half of the movie meanders quite a bit and I felt it was a little tonally disjointed, but the second half of the movie brings it back in a big way and makes it worth the watch. A good soundtrack didn't hurt, either.
Score: 7/10
Currently only available for rent or purchase through the normal channles (iTunes, Amazon, Vudu, etc.) or on DVD & Blu-ray through the Warner Archive Collection.
