I agree on your post about fandom with Leon. I like him but the way fandom treats him and acts if he's the only character that has gone thru the most hell, it makes me not want to see him in any further content for awhile. Don't me get started on the shipping aspect of him whether it's self-shipping or his relationships with other characters.
I'd really love it if people who ship leon with themselves or reader or whatever would choose TWO ways to tag it as a group so I can block it en masse and not see their boring ass fantasies generated from character ai play out the same way 500x a day no matter how many variants of the tag I block.
Every time I think it might be a character analysis it's slapped with "He Wouldn't Fucking Say That" but for every sentence, and I get to decide whether I'm going to block or scroll faster.
Shipping aside(because woooo do aeon, cleon, and jilleon shippers love showing their misogyny as much as people who ship leon with other boring white men), seeing people baby him incessantly as if he's not a grown ass man is a different level of fury. Yes, his job fucking sucks. Yes, he was suckered into it. He's not special actually. How many people have the option to not work a shitty job for an uncomfortable period of time in their lives without suffering immediate financial consequences? I'll tell you who. Rich people. Who I don't respect anyways. You know who else has a shitty job? Literally the entire recurring cast of characters we see, majority of whom are women.
You know what usually makes a job shittier? Not having a dick. I cannot fucking imagine the hell that Jill, as much of a paragon in her field as Chris is, has to experience from the men higher ups questioning every single fucking decision she makes on top of dealing with bioweapon bullshit. Her only reprieve? Probably Chris or Barry stepping in for her to shut them up, and if not that, she can get some of that anger out through the gorey, visceral violence some people dream of having as an outlet when dealing with shitty customers in retail.
And don't even get me fucking started on Rebecca and Claire who don't have the mercy of that much of a reprieve! Both of them have to deal with politicians from multiple countries, majority men, also questioning and second guessing their every plan while they try to provide life-saving medicine and resources to people who need them. You know what Leon has to hear from politicians? Arrest or kill this guy and go home. Escort this person and go home. They dont' question his competency. I know for a fucking fact Claire and Rebecca get the third degree if they so much as even suggest a faster way to supply necessary footwork in order to rebuild a neighborhood or save lives, meanwhile Leon goes home and does, uh, fucking nothing until he's called onto the next job.
But oooohh ooohh woobie baby pookie puppy daddy waawaa googoo gaga leon kennedy has a dwinking pwoblem. He's soooo babygirl and needs to be cuddled and protected and loved because his job is sooooooo stressful, and he's a victim.
You know who's a fucking victim in this situation post RE2? Sherry goddamn Birkin who apparently has zero fucking contact with Leon for 15 whole years after the government snatched them. YOU KNOW? THE GUY WHO SAID HE'D KEEP AN EYE ON HER FOR CLAIRE. THAT ONE. Did I mention she is a sudden orphan after watching her mom die in front of her? Oh, and her upbringing can be considered questionable at best due to RE6 being a genuine shit show. Oh and she also let doctors experiment on her body in order to A)Fuck around with the G-Virus, and B) figure out cures and vaccines, WHICH MOST OF WERE MADE BY REBECCA ANYWAY WITHOUT HUMAN EXPERIMENTATION? So like!!!! If I want to separate it further by saying who has the worst shitty government job dealing with Umbrella after it's shut down, it still isn't fucking Leon! Can you imagine the hellscape assignments they send Sherry into with her super healing ability??????? I know they're worse because she can survive egregious injury without them using money to provide medical supplies! And you know governments everywhere love cutting corners when it comes to money.
But Leon is blonde ONCE, in ONE GAME, a good game yes but is apparently so iconic his pain magically takes precedent as the worst above everyone else's. And I hate that so fucking much because even Leon doesn't think this about himself! Leon literally doesn't think he has it the worst out of everyone! He just kinda wants to die sometimes which is not the same thing! Yet, the unfortunate amount of fans with little to no media literacy believe otherwise.

I read 156 books and graphic novels in 2023. 119 graphic novels, 37 books. 25 non-fiction, 131 fiction. 69 graphic novels, 50 graphic mangas. 15 re-reads.
Starting in March with Unbroken, I started reading a number of books about World War II. I think I had, as ever a goal to read more non-fiction and since there are so many books on the 2 World Wars, they are often the ones that I’m able to check out from the library without a super long wait list. Then Oppenheimer came out this summer so I was more intrigued and decided to read the basis for the film (which is atypical for me outside of comics). Following Unbroken I read a few spy books, Operation Mincemeat and Double Cross in May by Ben McIntyre that were super interesting.
I had previously read The Confidence Men about 2 British POWs from WWI who escaped a Turkish POW camp by (among other things) a Ouija board. I had started reading The Diary of Anne Frank/Diary of a Young Girl sometime this past year I think and finally finished it near the end of the year and Victor Frankl’s Man’s Search For Meaning in October. I started listening to The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich in November or December and read for my family’s book club The Woman Who Smashed Codes about Elizabeth Friedman and her husband who developed cryptology in the US between World War I and II and was treated pretty wretchedly by the US government for her efforts. This was in no small part due to J. Edgar Hoover, who seems to be more and more a villain every time I have the misfortune of encountering him in books and other media.
A manga series I had started last year, The Promised Neverland, I’m close to finishing (I believe there are 20 volumes, which isn’t super long for a manga series. Full Metal Alchemist is 20-something volumes if I remember correctly) and I finally finished Hikaru no Go about a teenager who accidentally finds himself competing in the Japanese game Go due to a haunted Go board in his grandfather’s attic. A web comic that my wife got me interested in, Lore Olympus, retells the story of Persephone and Hades with a combination of contemporary and antiquity culture. The comic is broken up into “seasons” and the second season was recently finished so I wanted to read up to that point while waiting for the end of the third season. Unfortunately, it was long enough ago that I had read up to the end of the first season I ended up having to start over. But this was good as there were a number of things I caught the second time through and appreciated more on a re-read.
I also read the 4th and 5th Wheel of Time books for the second time this past year, which was an interesting experience. There were a lot of things I remembered incorrectly because of the 25ish years since I read them initially. I don’t think I’m going to read the entire series all the way through again, but I might read book 6. I finished re-reading The Sandman (partly due to the release of the Netflix series) and went on a kick of other Vertigo (an imprint of DC Comics that focused on non-superhero books, more adult and more creator-controlled that is now largely if not entirely defunct) titles (the Dead Boy Detectives, Hellblazer, Swamp Thing). Don’t know where I’ll go with that. Also read a decent amount of Spider-Verse comics (mostly Spider-Gwen but one big crossover book that was sort of the culmination of the Spider-Verse storylines (I think?)) that was interesting. Spider-Gwen is a great comic that has yet to lead to the frustration I felt with the later Miles Morales books.
Nagata Kabi’s memoirs about self-esteem, her fraught relationship with her parents, alcoholism and eating problems is both interesting and very frustrating. I am very lucky to not have hardly any of her emotional, mental and health issues that are wound up together but reading her mangas it is hard not to want to shake her when she seems to recover from one life-threatening catastrophe only to work herself into another. I’m morbidly curious about her later volumes about pancreatitis.
Lastly, there were some books on Arthur and some non-fiction or books by African-American authors that I had intended to start or finish that I’m dragging my heels on. We’ll see what happens in the next year with that.

Ah yes, a man of culture i see
The reverse bear trap has also been used in two other saw movies, but its only in Saw 3D where we actually see it work. In that scene, it would be another character, Hoffman, use it on Jill (johns wife) that actually kills her. Its really gorey but its cool to see it work for once.
NEXT UP ON PUZZLEVISION!!!! SAW!!!
Oh hang on I'm getting a call through from my sources one sec... ... Apparently there already is a SMG4 Saw parody... (throws my hat on the floor and stamps on it) GOD DAMMIT

Songbird A Self-Indulgent Self-Insert Trickster Fanfiction
Part Five - Original Intentions Word Count: 1.3k Content Warning: Alcohol consumption mentions
Coming back from a different trial, the Trickster had entered his realm that was somehow blocked off by most survivors and the other killers. Well, almost all the other killers. When he took off his bomber jacket and turned around, he saw Ghostface sitting very relaxed on his couch.
A sigh left Ji-woon’s lips as he took off his face mask and tossed it to the side. “Hello Ji-woon, hope your last match was pleasantly gorey.” Danny said in a very sing-song voice. “What do you want, Ghostface?” Ji-woon groaned, pinching his eyebrows together unsure if he was ready to deal with the eccentric killer. He walked over to his living room that was in his faux apartment in the Fog.
The Entity had blessed him with a Seoul-based realm and he looked forward to potentially chasing the survivors around in. However, it seemed that it wasn't going to happen anytime soon. It was both disappointing and a relief. Ji-Woon enjoyed his peace of not having to deal with the other killers. However, he was not surprised Ghostface found his hiding place.
Ji-woon thought he was narcissistic, but Ghostface took the medal for that easily. “Word is that you finally made a move on our dearest Saffron at Autohaven. I’m just here to congratulate you.” He said with a devious smile, pulling out a bottle of wine. “Where did he get that?” Trickster thought, eyeing up the bottle of alcohol, and was wondering if it was even a good idea to drink with Ghostface.
Then it dawned on Ji-Woon what Ghostface just said about you. “Where did you hear that?” Ji-woon immediately got defensive when he heard Saffron being brought up. “Some of the survivors were talking about it during my last trial. A certain Miss. Yun-Jin Lee was not happy to hear about this little development between the two of you if you could believe that.” Ghostface informed the popstar. Ji-woon’s temper was rising and he felt his anger boiling up. “Yes, I could believe that.” He said through gritted teeth.
He knew Yun-Jin would be a problem being here with him in the Fog. She was going to spread false statements against him and slander his name. He knew the survivors weren't going to be fans of him, that much was a given. Yet, he feared that she was going to finally get through to you. He gritted his teeth in frustration at the mere thought of you slipping from him already.
“It doesn't seem to bother our dearest Saffron though,” Ghostface said, once again catching Ji-woon’s attention from his destructive thoughts. “The poor girl is terribly smitten with you and was even willing to stand up to your previous manager regarding you.” Danny continued on, spilling out information like a water faucet leaking water. Ji-woon swore that Danny just liked to hear the sound of his own voice. Although he was no better when it came to his own music.
Wait. Had he just said that you had defended him? “Saffron did that?” he asked, baffled by this news. Danny’s smile grew very Cheshire cat-like.
“What a shame when I know you had very different intentions of pursuing her at first.” Danny sneered, taking out his knife to play with. The breath caught in Ji-woon’s throat with those words. “Oh yes, I know how you were going to intend on hunting her, using her screams of pain and agony for your music. The entity would have loved that. Everyone has an obsession, Ji-woon. Michael has Laurie, Nemesis has Jill, you have Saffron.” Danny continued to press.
Anger was boiling in the idol's chest with Danny saying his original intentions with you. Yes, he had originally intended to single you out and hear nothing but your screams. Something he did in the life he had before the Fog to his victims. However, when he met you a second time at Ormond and you had become shy under his touch, something changed the course in plans.
Especially when he found you injured deeply from the Mori of their resident Leatherface. Something flipped a switch in his head when he saw you bandaged up. He threw all his plans of singling you out and hurting you out the window. He never bragged about his plans to any of the other killers though.
"I'm sure her screams would mix with your music beautifully. I've Mori'd the sweet thing plenty of times to hear the groans of pain slip past her sweet lips." Danny continued, knowing he was pushing his luck with teasing the newest killer.
“Enough!” Ji-Woon shouted, grabbing out his pocket knives - moving quickly over to the Ghostface. He grabbed him by his robes and picked him up off his couch. “Listen here, I don’t know how you heard that or if you deduced that yourself, but that is no longer my intention." The growl left the idol star's throat in a terrifying way.
"If I hear that you so much as lay another finger on her, I will make sure the Entity will make your life miserable. I will take away everything you find enjoyable here in the Fog if you so much as look at her in the wrong way." He pressed on, holding up the sharp throwing knife to his throat. A glint of surprise shone in the Ghostface’s eyes, but that changed in a matter of seconds.
“Chill out man, I told you, I was here to celebrate. Saffron is a good friend of mine in this eternal paradise. I would never do anything to hurt her, in a deadly manner like Bubba did. And since you staked your claim on her I’m sure she won’t have a hard time with the other killers. There are already a bunch of romantic relationships going on here in the Fog.” Danny said, grabbing Ji-woon’s arm with a deadly grip.
Ji-woon let go of the killer’s robes and backed off. “What do you mean by that?” Ji-woon asked, putting his knives away but staying on guard because he could never get a solid reading on Danny. “How have you not heard about Michael and Jake? They have been a thing for the longest time, even though Jake will never openly admit it. He is very much a hypocrite when it comes to Saffron’s antics.” Danny started to explain.
By the time Danny was done talking he was caught up on the gossip regarding relationships between both survivors and survivors and killers. This had put Jiwoon at ease for openly pursuing you without worrying about the Entity giving either of you major consequences. Although that would not have stopped him in the first place when it came to you.
Danny had pulled out two wine glasses from thin air and had popped open the wine bottle. He poured the liquid in both glasses and handed one to Ji-woon who took the alcohol with hesitance. “Cheers to joining us in the Fog and for getting some before most of us who have been here much longer.” Danny chuckled before raising his glass. Ji-woon clinked his glass against the other Killer’s and before Ji-woon could worry that the alcohol could be poisoned, Danny had downed his glass and was already pouring himself a second glass.
Even if Danny were to poison him, he doubted that he could die in this eternal realm. He shrugged his shoulders to himself and downed his glass quickly and kept himself paced with the Ghostface.
. . .
“Pssssst.” Ghostface was desperately trying to get your attention without alerting the other survivors. He had snuck over to the campfire to try and get you to follow him back to Ji-Woon's realm to drink with them.
You dozed off on Quentin’s shoulder after enduring a few more trials after the one you had with Ji-Woon. “Oh, Trickster is not gonna like this,” Danny smirked, living for the drama that was about to unfold. He took out his digital camera instead of the polaroid and snapped the picture of you deep asleep on Quentin’s shoulder. He snuck off towards the Trickster’s place and knew he was about to stir the pot and he was giddy with excitement.

It's Claire Hours Baby!
Genuinely wondering what condition she was in after Raccoon City and Code Veronica considering she experienced being an absolute badass for about four months, but we cannot forget she was a (supposedly) university student at the time.
She missed way too much class time and class work to make up for that semester. What few friends she made were either concerned with her absence or angry at being ghosted/ignored. Yes she has her brother back, but how did she adjust with having to start over the next semester? She has a lot of baggage that people will either:
1) Not believe her experiences.
OR
2) Have no idea how to relate to her/offer comfort.
There will be a strong sense of isolation from the trauma she's dealing with on top of the isolation which normally comes with being completely and freshly independent as a young adult. She can't solve this problem with fighting. She can't find a support group when Raccoon City survivors can only be counted on one hand and are not going to be easy to get in contact with. To her knowledge Leon is M.I.A. Sherry is a child, and Claire is too self aware to confide her woes to a literal child when she knows she needs to play the role of listener and support to said freshly orphaned 10 year old. Jill is busy working with Chris on hunting down Umbrella. She wouldn't even know Carlos. So Claire just has to swallow this and hope she doesn't choke.
At 19 she's a super hero. At 20 is when I believe she starts getting her bad habits of putting everyone else's issues before her own. Who can she really talk to about this? Who has more than an hour to spare for her frustration and tears? What gorey nightmare where things went differently in a bad way could she share with a friend who wouldn't ask her to stop her descriptions out of discomfort or say "that's a great movie idea" like it wasn't a part of her life she can never let go? No. It's probably best not to bother. Other people's problems like relationship issues due to miscommunication, or a surface level disgustingly liberal understanding of how the government isn't their friend, or even just why an artist is a sellout? Those were easy topics. Normal topics. Because she has to be normal to make connections with people and get her foot in the door. And suddenly Raccoon City gets further away in her day to day until it doesn't.
And suddenly Rockfort gets further away in her day to day until it doesn't. Until she figures Chris is too busy to look for where Steve was taken because he's so busy trying to find Wesker at all. Until she blames herself at every dead end in her search when she's normally so good at this. She's supposed to be good at this. She used to be good at this. What was wrong with her? Maybe he's dead. Maybe he really died in Antarctica, and that's why she can't find him. Maybe Wesker took whatever samples he wanted and destroyed the body. Would it be so farfetched? She hates herself for thinking it. She doesn't know what else to think. She can focus on the problem her roommate is having with her communications homework. That's easy. That's normal. That won't lead to failure. That's her life. This is her life. Helping people, and then the longer it goes on the more it bleeds into saving people. Claire's good at that. She wants to believe she's good at that. Until she fails. Until people get hurt because she didn't account for every possible outcome.
Is it her fault she can't get a boyfriend because sometimes she gets this distant, haunted look in her eyes that can be unnerving to others? Is it her fault she can't make so many plans with friends because she's working overtime to make up for a lost semester? Is it her fault a loud banging in the cafeteria makes her jump or grip her tray a little too tightly causing the plastic to crack? How else could she manage herself other than taping those fears and bad habits down further to bury them under the issues of the people she wants to fit in with. Like helping a friend who's complaining about a professor being too difficult. Or another friend calling her at 4AM to be picked up from a frat party. Or another friend asking to borrow money for laundry because they ran short when it came time to use the dryer. Or another friend, or another friend, or another friend. Because those are normal people problems as she adjusts herself back into what's supposed to be the normal life she set out for post high school. Right?

Sim ages at the start of my Uberhood
I'm using a 2 days = 1 year age mod to play this new Uberhood I'm panning (and actually already started to play when I need pause from the Somersets) and with a really difficult algorithm I have calculated each Sim's age with the default aging system and translated it into their age with the mod, all with the help of SimPE (I have quite a lot of free time currently xD). So to keep track of everyone's start age, here's my masterpost, it's simply for my own convenience. I plan to make every name a link that leads you to the chronological tag (that didn't work, there seems to be a link-limit?).
If you didn't notice: there is now a Masterpost with all families (might contain mild spoilers): click!

Chapter 18, Geas, is up. Without any Jill and Petrine interactions due to how long this chapter of the game ran, this is the first half to a third of “The Lost Heir” (Part One Chapter 5).
Warnings below cut.
Major gore warning, I really showed my middleschool/highschool era gorey vent art roots with some of the violence here, there's also pretty explicit references and parallels to self harm as well as some creepy mental manipulation stuff that may be really uncomfy to read.
Also a shellshocked child soldier being understandably fucking horrified by what's going on around her.
New part new post baby! We have officially reached ten chapters, finally leaving the prologue as we work towards part one of Radiant Dawn.
This story is long, especially by my standards, it's currently like five times the length of “Her Summoner” at over 36,000 words.
There are a lot of warnings, I’ll have the major trigger warnings below the linebreak alongside the link but if you want more details on what warnings apply to what chapter please check out the previous post I made for this fic to see those details.
I’m so proud of myself and Red for getting this far and so thankful that people seem to be enjoying this, its been a wild ride and I’m really excited to keep working on this project.
With that I really hope you enjoy!
Love you all ❤️
Major content warnings are: Pretty extreme violence and gore sometimes to the point of outright body horror, references to rape and sexual assault and the trauma of characters victim to it (only ever in the very first chapter thus far), suicidal thoughts depression and at one point nonlethal self harm, and a scene exploring a characters fractured mental state and insanity that’s incredibly uncomfortable to read and will likely be triggering to some.
Please check the tags as well and if anything seems like its too much then don't take the risk of reading it, this is a really dark story overall and the prologue especially is just a tragedy outright. I completely understand if it’s too much for some people.
I do my best to properly put warnings on my fics to minimize the risk of hurting anyone with my writing, but I do make mistakes sometimes. If you notice anything in the first 10 chapters that should be on the trigger warning list that I missed please let me know and I’ll update accordingly.

Okay. I have Thoughts about Saw IV, and they're not meta or plot related for once.
The movie wasn't Bad. However, compared to the og three, something about it felt Off, and I could not name what it was until about halfway thru when I was texting my partners my reactions as I was watching, and its this:
The way this movie deals with its women feels way worse than the original three.
Most of the women in the movie either only serve as a prop to one of the men's stories (Perez getting shot is a trigger to Strahm's motivations later on, Jill's violent miscarriage is the tipping point for John's downfall) and it feels so Hollow for them compared to the stories of Amanda and Kerry and Lynn. The women in the first three movies had time to be developed characters and had their own stories and motivations outside of the men they were involved with, and that makes them much better written and much better treated by the narritive as a whole. That just Is Not the case in Saw IV.
In the first three movies, the women and the men are pretty evenly split too on how horrifying their traps are, they're all pretty gorey but its about a level playing field. Come to four however and we have one trap with a dude where we're shown very clearly on screen that he assulted a woman in the past (even if the woman herself isn't in the trap I'm counting this because we're still shown explicit details) and then we see Jill's violent miscarriage as well. And it just feels throughout the whole movie like its going the route of women being more mistreated in the genre again like we're used to seeing.
I'm sure I could be a lot more thorough and coherent about this, but this is just my immediate thoughts after finishing the movie for the first time. It was definitely a noticable difference from the first three and it sucked to see tbh.
#if anyone else wants to add on to this feel free. this is just my initial thoughts while theyre fresh#saw#saw franchise#saw iv#kief rambles about saw#saw meta

ofc.. all their music is exactly the perfect sound I love in metal, all their albums are golden and i listen to them religiously. Brendon small is an amazing riff writer and all the instrumentals are amazing ofc I don't even need to get into it we all love dethklok
2. Children of bodom
love all their music and their sound is also SO good. Alexi Laiho not only has a super unique and amazing death growl that I love (even his earlier more juvenile death growling is endearing and cute imo) and ofc their guitar is incredible and extremely difficult to pull off (allu was largely considered the greatest/fastest guitarist in the world and it absolutely shows both in their studio albums AND their live performances) Jaska's drumlines are so creative and unique and amazing and ofc love janne's synth solos. i love all the members dearly, watch all their content, their chemistry as a group of best friends from childhood turned bandmates is heartwarming and they just mean so much to me. I have my favorite photographs of them taped all over my walls haha
3. Combichrist
the first aggrotech/industrial band that i got REALLY into- absolutely love their music to death and they also did the soundtrack to one of my favorite games the devil may cry reboot. Also the frontman andy is hot.
4. The Pretty Reckless
This band is just great, has a great sound, in their older albums had lots of great songs, and taylor momsen has a great style and stage presence
5. Nicole Dollanganger
The only non-band artist on this list, her sound is just amazing, the atmosphere n feel to it is great and her voice is angelic. If you don't listen to her already, I think you would love her- her music & aesthetic would reallt vibe with you looking at your blog. Lots of hyper feminine but tragic/gorey/violent imagery and lyrics
Also an honorable mention- austin wintory, my favorite symphony orchestra composer that has done the score for so many incredible games
Also btw love ur username, jack off jill is also one of my favorite bands 🤘

the only way i would watch the resident evil show is if I was payed and allowed to do it illegally
also I was reading trivia in imdb of the alice films and the scream I wanted to utter at some of the proposed sripts for the majority of films would have shattered glass (so much sexually violence was proposed for Jill and Alice) and the other scream I wanted to utter was part of my ongoing rant about stunt work because stunt work is dangerous af and the do we hear about any of this? nope, do they have a union? nope. is getting jobs easy? hahaha fucking nope generally if you want to get a job you have to know people who know people (because of its difficulties getting jobs many poc actors have white stunt doubles... even michelle rodriguez has had that happen to her) like they don't have oscars for it because it destroys the illusion of movie making... yeah as I was typing this i was reading more things on stuntwork and had to add this because it is so bizzare to me there is a ongoing petition about getting it formally recognised in awards https://www.thepetitionsite.com/en-gb/810/757/136/stand-up-for-stunt-people-they-deserve-an-academy-award-too/
bascially with RE: final chapter the stunt woman Olivia Jackson almost died, she had to get her arm amputated and was in a induced coma for 17 days in the end she sued the production company for not helping paying her medical bills (not gonna say what actually caused the accident and full extent because it is gorey and horrible)
1: agreed
2: what the fuck, that's so insane... i'm glad they scrapped those scripts but that stunt double stuff is so :| like i always knew it was bad (didn't someone die filming twd or smth bc of this?) but i never knew how bad. i hate award shows but the fact that stunt doubles don't get any kind of recognition for what they do is fucking nuts. i see olivia jackson won her lawsuit at the very least so i hope she's doing alright now , that sounds like a horrific experience
