My Personal Favorite Fics EVER!! All Neil/Andrew

I hope I am doing this right! I just hit the share button on my bookmarked fics. Idk if any of these have been on here before (I have read a lot of fics and it gets confusing to know which ones I found on here bc there are so many good recommendations, or ones I found on my own. But these are 3 of my favorite fics that I feel like are the most well done!

• Everything's Alright by DarkD: This fic is unfinished but so worth the read!! It is a soulmates au, and in it Neil and Andrew are looking out for eachother since they are 6 and 7 years old. It completely changes their dynamic but manages to keep the characters realistic. I love the direction it was going, I hope the author finishes it, but even if they don’t what they have written so far is worth the read.

• If I Knew You by AceSirenSinger: This fic is soooo amazing!! It was posed pretty recently (starting January 2024 and finishing in May) and It shows a different direction with Aaron and Andrew’s bonding, and different reasons for them having problems with each other. It features writer/author Andrew and Law Student turned police officer Aaron. The writing is so high quality and it is a completely finished fic!! The writing to show the writing of the book Andrew has written alone is impressive enough to get you to read it. I love it so much, it also gives a more realistic approach to Neil’s life and trauma as well as gives you more of a perspective on the problems of Aaron’s life. (Even tho it’s an au and doesn’t show his life during AFTG)

• Deep blue ( but you painted me golden ) by Jeaneil_22: This fic is not finished but completely captivated my attention when I saw it. I was surprised I had not read it before (because I am obsessed with Raven Neil fics, and this is one of them) but then I realized it was posted within the last year or so. It’s completely underrated. It does have a lot of hits but the kudos count not being in the thousands is a crime against humanity. The realistic take on. Neil’s trauma and different things going on as he is still connected very heavily to the Moriyama’s is sooo interesting. And if you are looking for a fic where Neil is a victim of SA/Rape this fic is also a good one for you. (Though it does have a lot of trauma so mind the tags) I know a lot of people are looking for fics like that tho and it’s hard to find bc there is so much SA trauma in AFTG 😔

AU where Mary dies when they are in france and coincidentally around the same time is right before jean was about to get sold and because he caught wind of their plans to sell his sister he instead flees together with her. Neil & Jean meet when they try to approach the same contact to get new papers and go to the US. Neil at wits end going back to the states because europe clearly isn't any safer anyway and in the states he has faster access to more cash and resources. Jean aiming for the US because he's not rly quite fully aware of the threat the moriyamas pose there, he just wants to keep elodie safe away from his family.

So these two abused 15(?) year olds on the run from their mob families and way too unaware of the yakuza band together. Because neil doesn't rly think he can function and continue going completely by himself. And jean doesn't rly know wtf he's doing and neil at least has experience and resources so this will keep elodie safer.

They get by for a while but jean is very conscious of how life on the run is wearing on elodie. He just wants her to be able to have some kind of normalcy and happiness. Jean and neil fight a bunch because neil's like "i was fine being on the run at her age" but rly he's just battling with a bit of jealousy for elodie having someone who wants her to be happy, unlike his mother who only cared about survival.

Eventually they settle a bit in millport. It feels small and isolated enough for them to stay a while. Neil lets himself experience some happiness again too, joining the exy team and roping jean into it too.

And then coach wymack shows up with kevin day because coach hernandez sent him their files.

Bricktober day 7 (with half an hour to spare)- Chains

Did i create a soulmate AU out of nowhere and finish it at 23:30? Yes. Yes I did.

In this world there are soulmates. How it works is thus: from the second you meet your soulmate till the second you kiss them, you have a feeling like chains are wrapping around your neck. Simple enough to realise, you would think, and in most cases the answer is yes. Not, however, in this one. 

Javert met his soulmate when he was transferred to Toulon. His superior officer led him around the yard, telling him things about various prisoners. All was well until he called across to one of them. “24601!” The prisoner in question walked over, defiance tucked in his eyes like a secret. “24601, this is the new officer, Javert. I trust there will be no problems?” 

“None at all… Sir. Can I go now?” 

The prisoner was dismissed and the officer’s attention was back on Javert. 

“Are you alright, Monsieur?” 

No. No, Javert was not at all alright. He had the distinct feeling of being practically strangled by chains. No. His soulmate could not be a convict. It must have been a fluke. An anomaly. His soulmate could not be that- that criminal!

Valjean, already bound with physical chains, didn’t notice the addition of soulmate ones. Prison collars were tight and left no room for feeling. 

When Valjean was released, he didn’t even notice the collar being removed. In hindsight, that should have been the first clue. Yet twenty years of imprisonment affected him and why shouldn’t the feeling of the chains remain? 

In M-sur-M, he finally realised that he had met his soulmate. By this point he was the mayor, he had met many, many people and to tell the truth he had little care to find his. After all, that would either be one more person to lie to or one more person to keep safe. 

He had other things to worry about; his factory was growing and his town improving; he saw Javert near-daily, every time his heart was in his throat, yet somehow the inspector never realised. 

Life carried on as usual- that is, until he was nearly caught by Javert. He had been expecting it, to be fair, yet now he had a child to find. He overpowered the other man and ran, never noticing his chains tightening around his throat. 

Javert noticed, of course he did. He’s spent years thinking about his chain and his soulmate, trying to deny it. It never worked, in his heart he knew it to be true; Valjean was his soulmate. 

The inspector’s blood boiled as he realised that Valjean had escaped once again. He would not let this stand for much longer, he would find 24601 even if he had to search all of France! 

He purposely didn’t think about the man’s hands on him, how the chain around his neck loosened for a second then tightened when he was flung to the floor, Valjean running out the door. 

Years later and he is returned to Paris. There is more to do here, arrests to be made daily. He still tries both to find and to forget about Valjean, neither works. Well, not until he comes upon Thenardier harassing a gentleman, a gentleman who turns out to most likely be Valjean. He is a bloodhound fresh on the scent, he searches every alley, every street, every shop. 

Does he want him or does he want to capture him?

Valjean has barely thought about Javert or his soulmate for a long while, focused on keeping Cosette safe and happy.

He only really remembers that he has a soulmate somewhere when Cosette is laughing and talking at lightning speeds, saying that she met him, he spoke to her, it must have been him for he clutched at his throat and she felt chains around her wrist. 

If he had been more focused he would have pointed out that your soulmate’s chains are on your neck unless you have more than one, and she would have told him that there had been chains on her neck for nearly as long as she can remember, since she was left at the Thenardiers’. 

However he doesn’t, too distracted by thoughts of Javert. Decided, he tells Cosette that they must move to England. They will leave in a few days. 

Javert has to halt his relentless searching as news spreads of a barricade being made near the Musain. At the day of Lamarque’s funeral it will rise. He decides that he should be there, fool them into thinking he is on their side. 

He is found out, damn that gamin Gavroche! Tied up, he waits in the cafe, watching the students move around. Either one of them will shoot him or he will be used as a hostage. Neither concerns him, he doubts they have the spine to shoot him in cold blood and at least hostages must be kept safe. 

A boy climbs over, bleeding. He is revealed to be a girl, a girl in love with the feeble Pontmercy at that. She dies in his arms. How.. tragic.

Then Valjean is there. He is afraid then. Revolutionary students are one thing, a man with every right and desire to kill him is another. Never mind that he is his soulmate, he doubts the criminal is aware of that at this point. 

It doesn’t take too long to come to terms with his death. He has wanted to die on many occasions, to tell it truly, but always evaded it. Valjean has every right to kill him, none would fault him for it. 

He has readily accepted his imminent demise. He has no problems with it, although he cannot resist spitting hateful words at the man. The man who then lets him go. 

He is struck dumb. 

This convict, this criminal, his god-forsaken soulmate who has every right to kill him, who should want his death fervently; Javert is the only person who has hounded his footsteps through his life, moreover the only who knows his current identity as Fauchelevent thanks to the lovesick mutterings of Pontmercy. His death would free Valjean. Then why- 

He refuses to believe Valjean is a good man, despite the nagging voice in his head reminding him how M-sur-M thrived under his mayorship, how many gamins, prostitutes and beggars were given his money, how many people he helped… 

What is there for him to do? He cannot arrest the man, regardless of the address he was given. He cannot return to the police station, he could not. Not now he owes this thief his very life. 

He agonises for hours before his decision is made clear to him. Soulmate or not, he will not let another have his life. Therefore he must take it himself. The solution is simple. 

He leaves and begins to walk to the river Seine. No-one will miss him. 

Valjean has barely got Marius to the doctor when his soulmate chain pulls sharply, cutting away all of his breath. With little idea what to do he lets it lead him through the streets of Paris. 

He arrives at the bridge over the Seine. He looks around, curious, then notices the figure standing on the parapet. 

A figure he knows very well. 

Everything clicks into place. His soulmate chain must have been formed that day in Toulon. That explains why he never noticed it. Javert, his soulmate? The idea is not as ludicrous as he first thought. After all, who else knows his true identity, who else has followed him throughout his life, who else has been the one constant presence when everything constantly changes… 

He looks up and sees Javert fall. All thoughts leave his mind as he pulls off his greatcoat and jacket and dives into the icy depths of the river. 

The river which no man has ever escaped alive, but if anyone could do it it would be Jean Valjean.

Soulmates AU in which your soul is bounded to your soulmate's soul.

What does that mean exactly? That when you die, if your soulmate is still alive you can't move on. Instead your soul is stuck by your soulmate's side until they die too, so the two souls can become one in death. Depending on how strong the bond between the two is, one could see (and even interact!) with their deceased soulmate.

Now this but, you know by now, JeanMarco. With Marco waking up and the first thing he saw was Jean's terrified face while looking at the dead body- Marco's half eaten dead body. He learns it pretty quickly that he can't leave Jean's side, bound to follow his best friend around. He also learns that is possible for Jean to see and hear him during the ceremony of burning the fallen soldiers during Trost ; it lasted so little, too little for all the things Marco wanted to say. If he knew Jean was listening from the beginning, he would've started with exposing Reiner and Berthold right away. By the time he took notice that not only Jean was looking at him, but listening too, it was too late. Every other word from him was meet with silence, unheard by the living.

Isn't until the 57th expedition outside the walls that Marco learns that he can interact with Jean too, touch him. In his panic after Jean's failed attack on the Female Titan Marco didn't think and went straight to his best friend's side, touching his shoulder while looking for any injuries. Jean's eyes went straight to the place Marco's was touching, looking confused- until he followed the arm and saw Marco in front of his very own eyes. And just like everything, it lasted too little for Marco's liking. The Female Titan took hold of Reiner, crushing him in her hand, and Jean could no longer see him.

It was later, much much later than either of them would've liked, for Marco to understand how everything works. To know that he could only interact with Jean when his mind was filled with thoughts of Marco. By then Jean already began to move on, the secret of Reiner and Berthold's true selves already out. So Marco could only watch, unable to be there for his other half- for Jean.

And it was when they saw the ocean for the first time that Marco understood why he was truly stuck by Jean's side. When he saw his best friend having fun with the others and realized just how much he loves him. When he realizes that all he truly wants is to be by Jean's side, the way they promised each other to do during their training days.

After reading something where Nora said that if Neil and Andrew didn’t end up together after graduation Andrew would just like retreat from everyone and live a very solitary sad life or something iirc I am somehow even more incapable of shipping them with anyone else than before, which I didn’t think was possible

I totally understand that and like I don’t think there’s any ship other than maybe kandrew where I’d fully 100% ship either of them with anyone else without the other? there’s no aftg without andreil you know?? But I feel like everyone kind of (maybe??) understands that regardless and shipping outside of that is just some fun

Once upon a time, on a cold, dark night in the Central Court of Arcane, the annual winter masked ball was held. Faeries danced majestically all over the place, for the song being played by a charming group of faeries was enchanted (more literally than not) and the folk wouldn't miss the opportunity to celebrate the solstice. The winter flowers were blooming inside the castle with all the magic bursting from the Land and from the folk, and snow was falling outside the transparent plasma-gloss walls. And, last but not least, two princes and a guard were about to meet among all those partying people. A fairy tale about three faeries who meet at a masquerade ball and accidentally start a new folklore. And they're a chaotic mess.

SPD OT5 playlist!

This one's a little different: because there's not just one one-shot for them and instead a sort of miniseries within the big series, I decided to just put together all the songs for their fics in one place. It ended up being not that much longer than the other playlists because I can't find my notes for the original SPD fic, so I just have the songs I literally indicated in the fics themselves, plus one or two additions that fit the VibesTM.

Anyway, say hi to the SPD OT5, who just like Jayden/Antonio, you cannot convince me wasn't canon in the original story. Like, have you SEEN the SWAT arc? The sleepovers? The fact that the entire series' backbone is their growing relationship with each other? S.P.D. more than any other series feels like a story about the relationship of the team, the underdogs against the world, and clearly that bled into my inspiration at the time as S.P.D. got like eleven fics and 42k+ words total? INCLUDING a couple of spin-offs involving their daughter and Dani Rocca (Chip/Xander/Vida's daughter) joining the team?

Anyway, I'm going to link the miniseries here instead of the one-shot fic for those exact reasons.

Y’know for that good ol’ classic soulmate AU where the last words of your soulmate are transcribed on your body:

Jean would have “we haven’t even had a chance to talk this through,” and I think about that a lot.

The truth is, Jean has two theories.

First, he suspects his soulmate could be murdered during an argument. He hates that line of thinking, so he doesn’t overthink it. There’s no way he would ever hurt Marco during a fight, so he doesn’t trust that theory.

He unconsciously never ends a conversation first, lets Marco speak about whatever he wants for as long as he wants, just in case. Because another tiny, dark piece of him worries that maybe one day something will happen, they’ll argue, yes, but he’ll leave during an argument, and Marco’s last words will be to him. About him leaving.

When Trost happens, he’s relieved, because there’s no way Marco’s last words will be about ‘talking it through’ with a titan, right? So, he’s going to be fine. Marco’s the seventh best soldier of the 104th. He’s a nerd, he knows titan’s don’t speak or think, so there’s no way his last words will be pleas to a titan.

Then Trost really happens.

And Jean is left wondering if maybe Marco had been so desperate that he’d try to talk to a titan in his final moments.

Then he rationalises it. Thinks of Armin’s theory about the armoured and the colossal…

When the female titan appears, both Erwin and Armin are certain that the shifter has to be a soldier, a cadet, even.

And the little words on Jean’s skin the ones that taunt him at night start to make more sense. And he’s furious.

(No, we wont be talking about the possibility that Jean didn’t know Marco was his soulmate until he asks Reiner and Annie what his final words were at the campfire. No I refuse.)

At first, Nigel doesn’t even notice it.

It’s dark in the basement most of the time. Their only source of light comes from the servants when they run down the stairs to fetch something, always in a hurry. Shadows dance across the walls while they search the shelves, and Nigel sees shapes in them the same way he used to spot animals in the clouds with his brother and sister.

“I’m telling you, it’s a wolf!” he insists, pointing at a shadow on the edge of the ceiling.

Walter crosses his arms in front of his chest, clearly about to argue that no, it’s definitely a goose, Stupid, when Mick pipes up with a curious, “Hey, what’s that on your arm?”

Jean got a little anxious when his wife was too quiet.

Amy was usually very energetic, although careful not to overwhelm the people she interacted with. Last time they had been to the beach, Amy was always pulling him around, showing him things, playing games or interacting with others.

That time, though, she had silently pulled him along for a quiet stroll through a less busy part of the beach, hand in hand, and she was quiet. Sometimes her gaze would wander to the sea and at others she would look at him and smile. Her smile didn’t seem forced but, whenever she stared away, Amy looked sad.

And Jean had already suggested the trip because she was quite restless at home. He thought she was feeling trapped, but that didn’t seem to be the problem now.

Amy was so strong, but often she tried to appear too strong, even through her problems, trying not to worry others. But it only worried Jean more, because she couldn’t hide from him when something bothered her.

He stopped walking, gently tugging on Amy’s hand.

“Jean?” She stopped as well, turning to look at him, confused, but when he smiled, she smiled back. “What is it?” Amy chuckled, stepping closer to him.

Jean reached out to caress her cheek, and Amy closed her eyes, leaning into his touch.

“What is bothering you?” He asked as soon as she opened her eyes again. “You’ve been quiet this whole time.”

“Don’t you enjoy a quiet walk? I’m usually running around like a little kid instead, but I thought you got tired of that.”

“How can I enjoy it if you won’t at least talk to me?” Jean drew her into an embrace, a little awkward because they were still holding hands.

Amy shook her head and pulled back enough to look up at him.

“I can’t hide anything from you, can I? But it’s really nothing to worry about. Summer, and especially the beach, remind me of where I lived when I was little, that’s all. And reminds me of my parents.”

They had bever talked much about their childhoods. Jean didn’t want to remind Amy of what she sacrificed to stay with him, but he knew her parents had died. It was understandable that being reminded of them would make her sad. Nothing to be done about it except remain by her side and support her.

“Should we return home, then?”

“No. Sometimes I really miss them and maybe it’s silly of me to try to act tough through it, but that’s not what I’ve been thinking about today.”

“Then what were you thinking?”

“Of a memory I had almost forgotten. When I was little, we lived in a coastal city and went to the beach quite often. I liked to observe people sometimes and, when I saw my parents, I would often think that, when I grew up, me and my soulmate would be happy, taking our children to the beach just like that. It was before my mother died, and before I reached the right age and didn’t have a soulmate bond. Just a silly child thought.”

Amy buried her face in his chest, not before he noticed the faint blush on her cheeks.

Jean didn’t understand what was so silly about it, though. As a child, her image of it might have been very idealized, but it wasn’t a dream beyond her reach. Unless she had changed her mind.

“I don’t think it is silly.” He stroked her hair and Amy hummed, nuzzling into him. “You have a soulmate now.”

“All we’re missing is a child.” Amy chuckled.

But although she said it jokingly, that was what Jean meant to say seriously.

“We can solve that if you want.”

“What?!” Amy pulled back, enough to stare at him with wide eyes and flushed cheeks.

“You don’t want to?”

Maybe she really had changed her mind about it. Jean actually liked the idea himself, but it was her decision and he would respect whatever it was.

“I do.” She beamed, practically throwing herself back at him into a tight hug.

“I just… wasn’t expecting you to suggest it. You caught me by surprise, that’s all.”

She was always considerate of everyone, especially him and never spoke of what she really wanted, so Jean was pleased to discover new things that made her truly happy.

“I would have told you sooner if I knew it made you this happy.”

“Not like I am actually in a rush.” Amy laughed. “I enjoy what we have already. But I feel like going home now. Although I don’t mind coming back soon and actually enjoying a day at the beach.

She laughed, then pulled him down for a kiss. A deep, passionate kiss she rarely started on her own. Jean broke the kiss, only to scoop her up before claiming her lips again.

Both of them had been strayed from whatever future they expected in their younger days, but now, bound to each other’s destinies, they could recover what they thought was lost and look forward to the future together. And they were at their happiest when they looked forward to the same future, just like that.
