i went live last night for the first time and i gotta say it was FANTASTIC. a few technical difficulties, sure (i still have to figure out my spotify SAJJ), but aside from not yet being confident enough to use my webcam and being a bit unprepared because i talk too much, it went well!

i started stream at about 1:15-1:30 gmt-7 and ended almost three hours after and honestly? it was worth staying up. i'm so thankful for everyone who showed up and those of you who would have but couldn't because you needed sleep. everyone who came to show your support or just dropped in to say hello, i love you all so much, and i'm so thankful for all of you.

most of my future streams will likely be during the night or around the same time i streamed last night (though hopefully earlier, it depends on when my mom goes to bed because if she's awake she can hear me) so i understand if not everyone who wants to say hi can say hi, but i'm so happy that even a few of you could :)

there's a couple things i'd like to iron out in the future, mainly having a "just chatting" type scene and figuring out how to not get ads playing on my spotify considering i already have the audio track separated so it hopefully won't show up in vods... i'm just too broke for premium. i'll probably grab a background from my minecraft thumbnail world to slap on the just chatting scene and maybe drop a few extra things in there.

i'd like to thank chloe for being my emote editor and recommending me jchat considering i'd never actually heard of jchat, eric for making a twitch account literally just to follow me (and being the first message from an actual human that i deleted lmfao), and my longtime friend payton for being my first streaming inspiration.

MY NEW ORIGINAL FIC ARCHIVE IS OPEN! *v*)/

So. It’s not really anything new, but I’m officially migrating my original work from Inkitt and Tapas, into an archive I own and maintain and am free to fool around in! It’s open now, most of the content still my old short stories and excerpts I’ve previously posted somewhere else, but with some tiny additions too!

Here’s what you’ll find in it so far:

LATE LUCK - the original short story and the comics!

VOLUNTEERS - three short stories: Valentines Day and A Soft Place to Land, and something NEW: The Dreamcatcher! (well, it’s old, but. newly-posted. y’know.)

Some choice old short stories... that i just really like but i dunno if they’re terrible or not ahahahahuhuhu. 

Plus, as promised, the two Andrei/Hunter/Tristan stories I’ve been proof-reading for the past week.

HOMEMADE DYNAMITE is a shorter series name than ‘Biceps, Cherry Bomb and Boy Blue’, but it’s still about them. And is named after a song I love. Under it, you’ll find:

hey, beautiful. i love you. - which is a sorta coming-of-age character study about two characters who are more-than-best-friends-less-than-lovers. It’s about in-betweens.

slow down, boy blue. - is the disaster beginning of the polyship you guys have been asking me about.

Some thoughts about a jchat d:bh au

Kim is obviously the Kamski of this universe, but instead of building androids, she's programming artificial intelligences to populate cyberspace. Maybe they were originally intended as like, cyberspace guides? "Hi I'm here to help you navigate this virtual space". But whoops, they gained sentience and now they're doing stuff outside the bounds of their programming.

So like, people can pull a Matrix I guess and hook up to cyberspace/virtual reality or whatever. But that's optional, they're not trapped there. There's different "places" to go, so folks can sign in to work, have interviews without leaving the house, or do various forms of entertainment. But they don't just sit at home plugged in all day. People still have to GO places.

So, for example; Chatham (the Hank of this au) is a police guy and has to physically go to the police station to do his job, and still has to travel the city during investigations. But he can hook up to the station's virtual server for stuff like paperwork and cataloguing evidence and so on. And while out and about, there's probably some way to stay connected to the work server to make real-time reports and reference files or whatever. I don't know man, I'm not a cop.

Chatham fucking hates logging on to the servers. Not just for work, but like, any of them. Since this is a dbh au, he's the grumpy millennial who misses how internet used to be, compact and on a phone in your hand. He doesn't like being IN cyberspace and he hates having cyberspace in his head.

So these virtual AIs are becoming self aware and the murders happen. Maybe they're doing something to fry people's brains while online, and just leaving heaps of bodies with no explainable cause of death. I mean obviously it gets figured out eventually, they learn that people are getting toasted online. But WHY. HOW. WHO IS DOING IT

So Chatham's the guy who gets put on the case, and now he's gotta go around investigating the virtual scenes where these people have died, and he hates it.

And in comes this rookie prettyboy to be his partner, of course. Because da cheif said so, and because Jiro (the Connor obviously) is hot shit in the virtual world. Maybe he's got crazy high levels of comprehension and that makes him capable of cruising through the internet at a breakneck speed. Which is exactly what this investigation needs, since there's a LOT of virtual settings they need to comb through.

Also Jiro has special police-issue cybernetic implants that let him connect to pretty much anywhere at any time, and he has neat security access to stuff. The boy is practically half robot, why not.

Obviously Chatham is disgusted by the implant trend, and hates his new partner, and from here we more or less follow the dbh themes through their courses.

But wait, there's more

Down the road we get to the whole Kamski scene,and we discover that

GASP

Jiro isn't just some guy with cybernetic implants and a super fast brain. He's been a virtual AI the whole time, designed by Kim along with all the rest. But he's a fancy prototype that's been stuck into a body instead of existing solely in the virtual world. And, idk, maybe only certain people knew he wasnt human, so the company could see how well he'd blend in with people.

Anyway Chatham is shocked to learn that Jiro isn't human. He's suspicious about it, but Jiro passes this version of the Kamski test (which I assume happens in cyberspace and Kim tries to get Jiro to murder one of her other AI programs, and obviously he doesn't do it)

Jiro and Chatham go back to their investigation and also later have a long talk about feelings and humanity and of course Chatham threatens to shoot Jiro in the face, because "what are you really, Jiro?"

This is about as far as I've gotten with it, and I'm leaving out a LOT of key plot points. But at the end there's definitely a whole scene from Her, where after their uprising the AIs all decide to fuck off to some other plane of existence instead of living in humanity's virtual world. Jiro has the option to leave his body and go with the rest of the AI, but he chooses to stay and rejoins Chatham on the force.

In The Eye Of The Beholder

It was the night of the biggest event of his career and he was nervous as all hell. Everything had been leading up to this night. His whole life; all of the people that had told him he would never amount to anything...each of them had brought him to this success in their own way. The only person that had stood by him and helped him become the man that he was was Ash and even she had had her doubts. The evening was slightly chilly and it was nearing 7 o’clock. Guests were arriving at the gallery to admire his work. Among his favorites were paintings of Ash and paintings of a woman he had once dated and long left. His favorites were always of people he admired and loved smiling as if they felt no pain, though he knew the opposite of them. These were why they were his favorites. Among these also were cities and mountains, deserts and rain. There was one of particular significance to him that he felt the most connection with. It was his view when he had crested on top of a small cliff and found himself staring down at an abyss which ended in what he knew was a flowing and full river. He had debated jumping at that moment but its very beauty had driven him from the thought of it and instead he had briefly sketched it in his memory before continuing his hike. That was 3 years and now he was ever so thankful for the kick in the right direction. The man was shaken from his reverie when the curator of the evening was pulling on his shoulders, begging him to actually associate with people this time. He hadn’t even realized it was already 7. James walked around, mostly watching people’s reactions instead of really socializing. He enjoyed the admiration and glow in their eyes when they looked over his work. One particular woman caught his attention at the very painting he had been standing at when his curator caught him. His brown leather shoes softly pattered across the carpeted floor until he was behind her, just to the side so that he might judge her facial expressions. “Do you like that one? Or is that a look of disgust?”
