Oh uuuuuuh I can't remember, so I'll answer it again 😅

Well, now that Narmer isn't romanceable by an mc who is the same age as Ahmose, they won't be as freaked out. The youngest you can go with Narmer is early twenties, but that also means your mc can be 24, which is only 12 years younger than Narmer. That's not a huge difference, and Ahmose won't really care about it, mostly because Ahmose can also be romanced by someone who is 11 years older than them. If your MC is 21-22... weeeell, Ahmose won't like that, but there is no code for that in-game, so you'll just have to imagine it.

Still, if you go for the Narmer romance with an early-twenties mc, Ahmose will probably raise an eyebrow once or twice and they won't be the only one.

The other way around, so if your mc is late 40s, Ahmose will go like: "Aren't you, like... waaay too old for this kinda thing already?"

And your MC can raise an eyebrow, saying "Do you think I'm just gonna crawl into a hole and die once I hit fifty or what? ...Stupid kids... smh."

The age things will all be mentioned in the story :D Probably not extensively, but there are already differences in dialogue and some flavor text based on your mc's age.

I realize that I am not helping the Jiang Cheng fandom bicylce situation but whatever.

So, the premise is this Shen Jiu respawns and since he's unhappy about his place in Cang Qiong Mountain Sect with the better liked impostor and the smug demon lord etc. He strikes out on his own and ends up in Lotus Pier where he works as JIang Cheng's second in command. Jiang Cheng unlike Shen Jiu's hypocritical former sect sibling does not tolerate abuse and does not throw a snit because a guy is ruthless and likes to sleep in brothels. (This could be the romance but it isn't because Qijiu rights.) Yue Qingyuan rolls up to Yunmeng Jiang Sect and after some drama, misunderstandings, and enough pining to make even seasoned veterans of the legendary XuanLi courtship roll their eyes, Qijiu get their shit together and get together. Yay, celebrations!! Jiang Cheng cries with both eyes, one is happy for his loyal SIC, the other is unhappy because once again someone dear to him is leaving him. Except Shen Jiu is like, no way, am I quitting, I'm not going back to Cang Qiong, they frown at murder, they don't like my cutting remarks! Jiang Cheng tries to gauge how Yue Qingyuan feels about that. Yue Qingyuan, on cloud nine, no problem, Shen-shidi can lead the sect while I visit. (this could lead to Qijiucheng but not right now as I am still getting to the point)

During the events of MDZS, Shen Jiu is vacationing at CQMS (aka smugly feeding YQY treats while his former sect siblings pretend they are unaware that the two of them are an item.)

So, MDZS ends. Jin Ling becomes Jin sect leader and his reign is stabilized with support from jiujiu and occasionally helpful advice from WWX.

And then some person decides SL Jiang has gotten too powerful let's knock him down a peg. They threaten to expose the core transfer. Jiang Cheng kills that person but the whole thing gets him thinking. He's not really ok with the whole transfer but what can he do it's not like he knows an immortal master...oh wait he does.

He writes a letter to Yue Qingyuan and Shen Jiu: Hey for no particular reason. Have you heard of a way to transplant a golden core from one person to another? Maybe you know a doctor who would agree to do it without the other person knowing?

It takes Qijiu all of five minutes to find out, why.

Like during the war he was definitely killing them indiscriminately.even he thought the methods used to kill the wens were a bit too gruesome.after the war he didn't think of them either.it was only after wen qing asked for helped that he decided to become their saviour.if i was jc i would be mad to because what do you mean my brother is leaving me to save a family that was responsible for the destruction of my family.also wwx grew up with the jiang clan. But wwx's holier than thou attitude about the wens does seem a bit hypocritical to me and it does feel unsatisfying to me that the narrative never address this.

There are definitely excellent posts out there that discuss these points! I've seen JC fans unpack WWX's lack of/disregard for political strategy in defense of their boy, and JGY fans point out that WWX did in fact commit some pretty heinous murders during Sunshot. I invite other people who've written on this to add their links!

Those things aren't often discussed together, though, and you make good points, anon. A core element of WWX's character is that he Does The Right Thing No Matter What (according to his own personal definition of "the right thing"), so to him, it probably doesn't seem hypocritical at all. The Wens during Sunshot destroyed the sect who raised him, so the right thing to do is enact gruesome revenge on them. The Wens after Sunshot are no longer a threat and he owes two of them a life debt, so the right thing to do is rescue them. I don't think diplomacy would have gotten him far with the rest of the jianghu so determined to punish Qishan, and I don't blame him for keeping the Tiger Tally in novel canon. (Drama canon is different. Got a lot of opinions on this portion of the show in drama canon that I will not get into here!)

To me, the big thing is that he doesn't have a real plan for the Wen remnants. Their situation is wholly unsustainable, and WWX shows little interest in seeking out long-term solutions. Yeah, he did the big flashy gestures of saving them from the camps, but now what? They can't live as outlaws doing subsistence farming in a graveyard forever. This is the kind of problem JC would have been able to help with! Unfortunately, WWX is rolling up to night hunts with the Ghost General in tow, which kind of undermines any honest attempts at reconciliation that JC could make. And I might be wrong about this, but I've heard nothing about him reaching out to JZX after receiving the invitation to JL's ceremony (he for sure doesn't in the drama), which is a HUGE missed opportunity. If JZX is genuine, then he is a possible source of aid for the Wen, and he's lying, then WWX should identify the threat before risking his life (and the lives of the Wens by extension). His belief that bravado and good intentions can overcome anything--and if they don't, oh well! them's the breaks!--is a flaw, and I agree that it's a flaw that is not thoroughly examined.

tbf, lxc is valid for noticing how one-sided is the wangxian dynamic and it's true that wwx didn't give an f about lwj in his first life... and except for some moments when he went "oh no, he's hot", lwj is the reason people ship them because that ship has no real basis on wwx's part...

In the end, it feels as if he falls for lwj only because he's literally the only one there for him. What's ironic is that he even ponders on how it used to be the other way around and he used to have jc by his side and lwj against him...

MXTX created a mess of a fandom because of all these mixed signals she gives so no wonder there are a lot of wwx / jc shippers. I mean, it's OBVIOUS that she didn't intend for jc to be a love interest at all... but she still made him "ex"-coded. The fact that he's the one wwx made a big sacrifice too for, and not lwj when, on the other hand, lwj sacrificed a couple of important things for a wwx that didn't care about him in their first life, and that won't get the same devotion in return is just. weird.

This is certainly a bad/sad understanding of the entire point of Lan Xichen's angry rantings, as the audience was supposed to be exasperated on behalf of all involved due to each one only having their own perception of this entire situation and the ongoing theme on relying on self-biased thought and perception.

Just as Lan Xichen has only his own understanding of one-sided reciprocity(on Lan Wangji's behalf), Wei Wuxian was terrified of being the only one to have thought he was taking his feelings to an inappropriate level that was not reciprocated, mind on the heels and only hours after Jiang Cheng accused them of being more and mocking Wei Wuxian.

And within the extras we see the blatant proof, while he may not understand he was in the midst of a crush, given he was fifteen and once more, he have Jiang Cheng being nasty, he much exhibited his fixation upon Lan Wangji by mentioning him within Lotus Pier and being happy to discuss him with Jiang Yanli without the excuse of wanting to just mess around with him.

For the very next extra to make good on this, almost 20 years later and Wei Wuxian to admit he had always wanted Lan Wangji's attentions romantically and poking at Lan Wangji seemingly not sharing that interest, that was dispelled as soon as both were able to out their shared romantic love.

As for Jiang Cheng, yes he is jealous, yes he is a homophobe, no there is no mixed signals from Wei Wuxian to anyone other than Lan Wangi. Me, unlike you, understand what logical comprehension is and can read what MXTX meant for her CP. this is half stolen from a fic I read once but I think that post canon wei wuxian would wear certain clothes and carry himself in a certain way to invoke the image of the yiling laozu whenever he needs to intimidate people to get things he wants from them. he's sort of just living in domestic bliss doing whatever the fuck he wants but he's still very good at manipulating peoples perception of him, and he doesn't let the cultivation world forget that he's dangerous and scary and can kill them if he wants to. gusu is hosting an important trade conference and he's there in his nice hanfu with chenqing to make sure things go well for them

jiang cheng is absolutely a fish guy. I don't know why I think this but it's just true. he can't have dogs so he goes to fish (he could have gotten dogs after wei wuxians death but he doesn't. he keeps chenqing for 16 years. much to think about). he's obsessive over it and spends way too much of the sects income on things for his fish. no one else takes care of the fish they're His fish and he is solely responsible for them unless he has to travel, in which case only the most trusted advisors are permitted to take care of the fish. he can tell them all apart and they all have stupid names like sweetheart and baby

jiang yanli is an Excellent diplomat. jiang fengmian brought her along on so many negotiations and diplomatic endeavors that she picked up on a lot of it, and the fact that she's always settling quarrels w her brothers has made her a great mediator. I think her style of negotiation is kind of sneaky? like she's very charming and sweet and people see her as being fragile, so they don't want to upset her by being too "aggressive" and are inclined to listen to her when she's trying to calm people down in an argument

After everything with Liam’s passing, we really see how much lack of empathy people really have for other humans. It’s depressing actually. The way people talked about those boys and their grieving was so awful. Fandoms attacking each other but really just attacking the boys, the inappropriate comments about their looks, what their facial expressions were like, people calling it a reunion, fans upset that the 4 weren’t pictured together, etc. Can they not even just grieve? I saw it all yesterday honestly.

Niall got it for smiling and his hair cut, Harry got called out for his mustache and his general appearance but then a fan with a big account said he looked cute & made it their pfp while simultaneously preaching people shouldn’t post the boys’ pictures. Everyone talking about how hot Zayn looked & others saying he came for publicity same as Harry did because it would look bad if they didn’t show up. Louis got it for his appearance either fans could f*ck the sadness out of him and even said that Harry & Zayn will do that for him, he looks hot when he’s sad or some said he looks sickly & made fun of his appearance and of course exploited his grief. Oh and with no surprise, Niall & Harry hate Louis & Zayn because they weren’t pictured together. Some were excited though because zouis were together in pictures finally (ok, I may have gotten a little glimmer of happiness from that). People claiming Harry hugged Zayn when the guy in the picture with Zayn clearly wasn’t Harry unless he changed his hair and clothes 2 times at the funeral. Even a news station edited a picture to make it look like Harry & Zayn were next to each other walking out, though people debunked that quick because they all entered and left alone per actual video footage. The biggest joke is that JC was there for all the boys and is really like a 2nd dad to them. What? When did JC suddenly become the good guy in this world?

Truth is those boys care about each other and wanted to be there for their brother. Why is that so hard of a concept to comprehend? It’s like people lost all human decency yesterday. And today it’s back to fan wars again. Can people just be normal? Maybe learn something from what has happened? This fandom is very exhausting.

Yesterday was a day full of emotions, and we shouldn't judge each other based on what was said and done yesterday. People have different favourites, and different relationships with the boys. People are also in different state of grief. Some are done grieving and are back to their normal joking, thirsting, fangirling selves.

There are also alot of people who need attention and will say anything to get it. They are rage-baiting you. There are trolls out there too trying to provoke a reaction. Yesterday was hard and people were extra angry, extra sensitive and lashed out at each other out of misplaced anger and frustration.

The best thing is to avoid it if it upsets you. Controlling it is useless and it's not your job to do that either. Avoid things that makes you angry and upset. Make sure you don’t add to the anger and upset by lashing out at those you feel are not grieving correctly. There is no need to spread other people's bad takes and tell on them. Don't give it any attention. I curate my tl and dash so i don't see it. Because there is no need to and i don't want to give them the time of day.

It's not about which social media you're on, it's about curating your fandom experience and shutting out what you don’t want, need or should see. You can do that on any social media.

The first time Ava should die, she is seven.

She can slit purse strings with the best of her pack of street urchins, can slip away with nary a first glance from her mark, let alone a second. But today, she's distracted. She's thinking about the races later, at the Circuit of Heaven. JC says that Mistress Frances is going to allow him to ride her second fastest horse in the heats. JC says a lot of things, though, so Ava's gotten used to not trusting him. It's that debate that's going through her head when her knife slips from the pouch's belt loop, darts forward, bites into the plump flesh of the man's hip.

"Sorry, sir," she squeaks, and takes off running.

She knows the maze-like streets of the Rahad like the back of her hand, but the man chasing her keeps pace past stands packed with bruised fruits, past crowds clumped together around the exterior seats at one bar or another. Even when she slips between two men who seem like they're about to duel, he's still there, doggedly on her heels.

She curses to herself, a string of expletives that would surely have gotten her ears boxed had she loosed them in front of Mistress Frances, and picks a building at random, one among a sea of similar, white plaster flaking from the walls, front door wedged open against the heat. She darts through the door and down the hallway, finds a narrow staircase a third of the way down and scampers up it.

She's rounding the stairs past the second floor landing when she hears his footsteps loud below her, echoing up through the dark space. So much for the hopes that she'd lost him. She picks up her pace anew, takes steps two at a time, climbs and climbs and climbs.

She almost trips over her own feet when she emerges suddenly onto a hallway lit by a single window at the far end. She fancies she can hear the man's breathing, hear his heart beating, he's so close behind her. She flings herself bodily at one door, at the next. She needs to get away. The third door gives way just in time, its rusted padlock falling away easily.

She moves to swing the door shut behind her, but his foot is wedged behind it, jamming the door, forcing it back open, and then he's inside with her, looming over her. His kick takes her square in the chest. There's a loud crack, a burning pain shooting through her ribcage as she falls backwards, lands awkwardly on a pile of something that starts to slide apart beneath her weight. There's a burning in her back, then, too, accompanied by the iron scent of blood.

The man crouches to take his purse back from her outstretched hand, then rises, cocks his leg back. The toe of his boot crunches into her jaw and everything goes black.

Ava wakes up groggy, the room illuminated only by a splash of moonlight through a window facing the river. When she moves, she can feel crusts of blood flaking from her skin, as though she, too, is a long-standing feature of the Rahad, a monument who has weathered its storms.

There's no pain to it, the moving, the rolling to her knees, the pushing to her feet. Even the fatigue that's long since sunk into her bones seems to have been washed clean away.

She glances around warily, her loosely woven shirt crackling as dried blood sloughs off the fabric. Her heart thrums wildly in her chest. The room is lit only by moonlight. She's late. She's late.

She starts towards the door, but a glint of light off of something half-hidden in a pile of refuse to the side catches her up. She pulls aside mouldering cloth, kicks at cups and bowls and small strange carvings. Gold glitters back up at her, stretched thin into wire wrapped around a dagger's hilt. She snatches the blade up and the fist gripping her heart loosens as she clasps it tight to her chest.

If she's lucky, she'll be able to sneak back into the cellars of the Crown without Mistress Frances being any the wiser.

Not once in her life has Ava been called lucky, but she can always live in hope.

I have so many thoughts on him it's insane 😭

With og Juanín, basic things about him are that he values his friends (to the point of enabling the worst of them) and is willing to endure the worst things for them. He is very responsible but also a doormat. He is a very hard worker and, overall, a mistreated character. He feels like quite the opposite of Tulio. While Juanín has a humble demeanor, Tulio has an outwardly proud demeanor. Tulio is at the forefront of fame while Juanín helps him from the sidelines. Juanín is passive while Tulio is abrasive. Their parallels have always interested me. That's why with the switch au, it started with the idea "what if Juanín took Tulio's spot".

Juanín is now more "fake-nice." He will be nice to someone he can't stand if it'll help the show. Although this has limits, as he hates feeling taken advantage of. He'll shittalk people he doesn't like behind their back. Him and Amapola will shittalk others together. They are best friends even if they are dysfunctional and enable each other and get sick of each other from time to time. While Juanín isn't as overworked as his og self, he has to fix Tulio' messes often. Even on live television. As mentioned before, Tulio is in Juanín's place. He does everything, but isn't the best with his work. This annoys Juanín often, but despite this, Tulio is his right-hand man. He entrusts Tulio with a lot even though he shouldn't. He will admit Tulio is an idiot, but I imagine just like the og Juanín he has a distorted positive view of Tulio. He likes bossing people around. He does get tired from all the work though. He is a suck up to Juanín, even if he also gets annoyed with him. He is jealous of Juanín's fame and wishes he could be the news host. (His inexperience and anxiety would hold him back, though) Juanín knows of the jealousy but won't give Tulio his place. He thinks he's worked too hard for it, unlike Tulio. He's satisfied that he's finally recognized by people for his work. That he's appreciated and can do what he wants. He thinks he's doing the best he can in life. Even if he is missing Juan Carlos, his childhood friend. They drifted apart after Juanín started to become famous. They had many disagreements during that time. Bodoque used to work with Juanín and Tulio during the earlier days of the show but eventually left because of that. Juanín and Tulio tried to remedy things, but Bodoque had gotten tired of the work environment. He knew it was making him worse mentally and feeding his addictions. Juanín feels bad for this but feels resentment towards JC because he thinks he abandoned him. Juan Carlos used to be the estrella periodista, but after leaving, he was replaced by Amapola. Juanín will occasionally hear from Amapola how Bodoque is doing. I think he grew closer friends to Amapola after this.

Juanín secretly still likes scrapbooking :] He is creatively talented and has fun creating. He likes looking his best. He does his own makeup (even if his hair covers most of his face) and chooses his outfits. He likes hanging out with Amapola too. Also he has autism/ocd because I get to project on him.

Random fun fact, "birdhouse in your soul" and "kiss me, son of god" by tmbg remind me of him. Also "big shot" and "everybody loves you now" and "my life" by Billy Joel. And to a lesser extent "I love you for psychological reasons" by tmbg.

my fears about lisa’s career being controlled by the arnaults rings true little by little cuz what do you mean lisa is going to release a book about her life under the french publisher JC Lattès who happens to be part of LVMH publishing house… i am sorry but, what? why would she do that in france when she could’ve gone for any worldwide publisher?? and why French writers at that? why are all of her gigs limited to France now? at this point, if blinks don’t think the arnaults (mostly frederic) are controlling a lot of her career choices — i think we are being delusional. every single solo content we have gotten from lisa since the end of bp’s tour and the contracts were getting negotiating have been in French/around Frederic.

i don’t think it’s smart for her to get so dependent of him to get certain deals because at this point we need to be real and accept that a lot of those french gigs she’s getting is because of him. he is there at every single event. LVMH is sponsoring almost (if not all) of those events. and all of the ceos from all the LVMH divisions suddenly posting her on their instagram feels like is more about her involvement with frederic than anything else. there’s not separation between romantic and professional relationship there because he is technically her boss and the heir to all of the brands that she endorses. the power imbalance there is crazy. this isn’t some random dude. and this dependency is really dangerous.

I had such a great time watching this episode. it may be one of my favorites. it's funny. there's important relationship beats between the wens and wwx. there's drama. there's foreshadowing. the kids are not having a good time, but it's not so dire as to be painful to watch. lwj being wounded adds a flair to his character. and it has some nice wwx moments

see, wwx complained about CR being strict and unfair, and it was, but they weren't at risk of this kind of physical violence or threats against their family. the food was apparently good. the lans were highly respected and the students learned important lessons about cultivation. although it seemed stressful at the time, it was probably the last extended period of time they were all safe and in a stable position. I mean, compared to being at the mercy of wen chao? man's a maniac. in CR they got to go to lantern festivals and weren't locked in their quarters

button - she can make a mean lasagna. outside of that, she's pretty average. she typically likes to make big batch meals as meal prep and eat the same thing for a week. outside of her repertoire of recipes shes pretty useless in the kitchen. i think she could impress someone who didn't cook, though. if she ever cooked for people she might even get a "good lasgana, button!" but, uh, will that ever happen? :/

jc - he can make cereal :)

rilakk - rilakk is pretty good at cooking! they are very thoughtful about the food they intake because of the amount of time they spend asleep. theyre good at cooking very hearty, filling foods! i think their go-to is probably curry and stir-frys, cuz they're flexible but you can build a lot of flavor into them.

spyke - you know how it is with spaghetti

lauren - ehhhh he can get around a kitchen, but he never really cared enough to be really good at cooking. the sort of buy pre-marinated meat and throw it in the oven, but hes more likely to go out. he likes good food! i think hes probably tried to make some recipes at home, like if he found a cool planet-specific ingredient and looked something up, but quickly became demotivated because its never as good as just ordering it out, and lauren likes good food!

ceefor - its a good thing shes rich and people cook for her.

fledge - she could probably follow simple recipes, but not much outside of that. she grew up eating from Fleet cafeterias so she never had a reason to learn. shes picked up some skills since living with arunae but she still wouldnt feel super confident cooking alone.

leathy - he doesnt like cooking enough to do it for himself, but hes very capable of following a recipe. he could make a decent meal for someone if they asked, or if he thought they'd like it :)

gazijo - this man can COOK!!! he can break down fresh meat and make u fucking ANYYYTHINNNGG and it will be so so so so good. he prefers to cook for others rather than eat out or have people cook for him cuz he likes to know where his food comes from and what went into it. since he started hunting fauna less hes gotten more into vegetarian recipes too! catch him finding a cool edible mushroom and incorporating it into something for dinner. dont ask him to bake tho.

ionyll - i think her cooking ability starts and ends at box mac n cheese. anyone want chipotle?

pj - pretty decent! hes got a couple go-to dishes. generally prefers to dress up a bowl of ramen or premade tortellini n stuff like that. nothing super involved but he can develop a decent flavor profile.

alaise - her cooking is mid (can follow recipes). i think for herself, if shes not eating out, she'd default to sandwiches / salads / other raw foods. her baking is more where she shines!!! really likes making muffins and cupcakes in particular.

iggy - he has not touched his stove since he moved in. he is eating canned chickpeas plain. hes eating deli ham. maybe put some cheese in there if he's feeling fancy. if it doesnt come together prepared in a package then its not being eaten together. closet he gets to cooking is microwave meals

palaia - capable of following recipes! she never really needed to learn to cook, but she would prepare something for herself if what her sect was offering didnt interest her that way. she does prefer more raw foods, though. salads and the like.

alaska - capable of following more complex recipes, and has a few good ones memorized. capable of impressing people, honestly. he likes to cook himself nice things, though he does prefer to cook for others.

stasia - i dont think shes ever cooked.

trixis - she can cook!!! i think she prefers things that have some of the prep done but she'll make something if shes really in the mood for it. she prefers to make something simple and hearty at home rather than eat out.

aether - roasted vegetables + pasta my beloved. shes trying her best

mim - he can make a good smoothie :) it'd be easier if he had a blender, though...

Dream 3.9.24

Dream 1: I went to the neighbour's house who had a Vyvanse script for safekeeping and I took it from them to prepare it at home. They said to me, Why did you take it? I dunno that I answered her but it seemed that I just wanted to take care of the situation. Then a boy, the person who it was for, and his carer (probably his mother) came over to the house (it was our old house). I knew that the boy was somewhat mentally disabled/ill. Then they were staying here so I must have offered them to stay here because I felt bad. The carer was asking me questions as I had labelled up the bottle and gave to her.

So now I had two people staying at our old house. The room they were staying in had water dripping from the ceiling. I think I tried to ignore it at first but then it had gotten worse. But after awhile, I had to bring down the mattress and a pink duvet cover down the stairs in order to wring out the water. I felt really bad. I tried to help them as best I could since I wanted their stay to be somewhat comfortable. I was gonna wring out as much as I could and then use a hair dryer to dry it out before they have to sleep tonight. I am confident that I make it dry enough.

Dream 2: My ex, MP, was here. He thinks we are together. I am trying to shake him off but he won't go away and it's making me really frustrated. I wish he would go away. Why is he following me? He was hanging around with his mate JC and they were both hanging around me actually. I didn't want him. We had gotten back from somewhere and he had followed me home. I was so agitated and I don’t want him near me. He kept acting like we were a couple. I was trying to run away from him and shake him loose. Were he and JC staying in that room with the dripping ceiling? IDK.

Dream 3: I was browsing in a clothing shop that wasn't much to my style. There wasn't anything that I liked. I noticed that there were two other ladies who looked really cool. I left the shop. Then nearby was a different shop, the entrance to get up was up some stairs. I was interested in going inside but I didn't want to go up alone. I felt hesitant. Then I saw those two ladies from before who were umming and ahhing about going up too. I said to them, Do u want to go up together? I'm scared of going up alone. They said, Sure and we all went up.

It was a really cool shop like gothic retro witchy whimsical vibes. There’s jewellery and bags and dresses and random stuff. We spent a good long while here. I observed the two women who seemed like really close friends. They were quite eccentric and the type of people I have always wanted to be friends with. I liked their energy, it was so unique. And most of all, they were kind. There was a table of random bric-a-brac that I was browsing at and I saw some merchandise that my ex had created. I was surprised to see it here. I picked it up. It was a tiny flip book of his quotes, tips and stories about life, I guess. There were two different versions. I'm not sure if it was one of the two girls from before, or a different girl, but whoever it was knew him and was still friends with my ex. She saw me with the book and told me stuff along the lines of him being successful now. Evidently enough to have his own branding. Apparently he has moved to South Australia, for some job. I asked her, Is it weird that I’m looking at this? They said no but I kinda think it seemed weird. He seems successful but the books were so 3D, I could just tell without even reading any of it. But nevertheless I was glad he was happy. I felt a twinge of regret, I don't know what for. I knew that I didn't want be seen as sentimental, so I didn't want to leaf through the book for longer than necessary. I didn’t want to looks like I missed him because I didn't, I was simply curious. I realised that he and I had both gone of two completely different paths. I knew that girl was still friends with him and I didn’t want them relaying to him stuff about me. I looked through the window. It was getting dark. I ignored it.

I kept browsing. The shopkeeper saw me looking at a display of handbags. I was looking at one bag in particular when she struck up a conversation with me and said, We have a similar skin tone and we like to wear a lot of blue. As if I was wearing blue right then but I wasn't, my outfit was all black. Then she showed me a velvet bag that I might like. I really liked it, it was in my style. I found a mirror to look at myself in. The bag was smaller in real life, just the right size but when I looked in the mirror, the bag became huge. It was way too big and looked off. I tried to make myself like it but I couldn’t. I realised that ultimately I didn’t like anything in this shop, like I liked the idea of the shop and the general vibe but each time I looked at the individual pieces I wasn’t interested.

I realised it was getting really late. The sun was starting to set. I think I biked here so I needed it to not be dark as I rode home. I browsed some more feeling like I needed to purchase something. I quickly looked at the other two ladies and they looked as if they were happy to keep browsing. I felt weird to leave by myself for some reason. However, I really needed to go. I felt bad to announce that I was going, even to the shopkeeper since I'd spent so long here and not purchased anything. She had been so nice to me. I was going to tell her that I’ll be around next time, soon. I also wondered if those two women would want to be friends with me. Would they ever ask me out to eat? I felt like I had to say something to them before I left as if I owed it to them. I felt agitated now. I had to go. I was kinda sad I hadn’t found anything to my liking.

This references a few things I’ve mentioned in one of my previous Joshtin “Lance Watched” but it's not required reading to be able to enjoy this. Sorry, this is late. Life has been life-ing. I started this on May 13th if you can understand how much life has be life-ing. I know Justin wasn’t there (or at least not photographed or mentioned as far as I know) but my brain thought a little while ago that JC’s girlfriend looks so nice that Justin might like her unlike how it seemed that he hadn’t liked any of his past girlfriend while JC was dating them. I’m also not assuming that JC doesn’t like Jessica. I’ve just never seen the two of them in the same place for the entirety of Justin’s relationship sooooooo….that feels like something. Anyway, only JC could be with someone who makes me stop being distracted by how handsome he is. She looks like she’s really, really sweet. And she’s sooooo pretty. I love, love everything that she wears to appearances with JC. She and Michael are my favorite. I clearly have a type. I might have a small crush on her. Her smile! Okay, I’m gonna stop. Enjoy.

“That’s fucking unbelievable,” Lance says to JC as he takes a seat next to him across from the rest of the group. It’s the first official day of his Vegas birthday weekend. Lance has gotten very lucky to have almost all of his brothers here with him. Justin was on tour but he had three full nights in Las Vegas. He’d be tired and tight for time but he’d promised to drop in for a drink no matter what time it was. Among an entire hoard of his closest friends, Lance was also lucky enough to have Joey and JC in town to celebrate with him.

“The sign?” JC asks, referring to the nearly six hundred-foot electric billboards on the side of the Hilton across from where they are celebrating his 45th birthday. There is nothing like seeing your twenty-something-year-old face in an astronaut suit on the side of a building to remind you how much you’ve done in your life.

“I’m sure one of your friends, if not Michael…”JC starts but Lance interrupts him, once again amazed at how obtuse JC can be. “No JC. Them. Look at them,” Lance says gesturing at Jenn and Justin chatting away like they are old friends on a sofa the short distance across the Ayu dayclub from them. Lance looks back at JC, watching him look at Jenn and Justin. There is something about the way JC is looking at them. He’s not at all tense while he’s watching them the way that Lance expected. Lance thought for sure JC would want to split them up. He’s observed over the years that JC can be a protective boyfriend in the best way. Walking on the outside of the street. Keeping an eye on his girlfriends at parties to make sure they are okay. You know the cute, nice guy stuff that most men don’t seem to do anymore without begging. But this, whatever this is, feels like the opposite of what JC would want to see. 

Since Justin arrived, he and Jenn have been inseparable. The minute Jenn spotted Justin, she practically ran and flung herself into Justin’s embrace. It was almost like a scene out of a rom-com. Where the male interest comes back after years of separation when truthfully Justin and Jenn had last seen each other a few months ago at the LA performance at The Wiltern. Watching them greet each other, Lance half expected them to start kissing but Justin hoisted her up, carefully avoiding planting his face in her bust, and swung them around before putting Jenn back on her high healed feet. 

Something about Jenn and Justin together was captivating. Lance wanted to stop looking but he couldn’t take his eyes off of them. They complemented each other nicely. Although not entirely his style, Lance has been finding himself a little jealous of Justin’s latest wardrobe. He’d arrived in another subtly sexy, light-colored match-set linin outfit with a deep collar showing off just a hint of his buzzed, tanned chest. The outfit Jenn had on was sexy, full stop. A tight, colorful, and strappy dress with equally just enough skin showing to get your attention. Lance didn’t know how JC managed to not wisk her back up to their hotel room with her dressed like that. Their body language with each other screamed of their familiarity. The way they seem to be melting into each other due to something other than the desert heat, their bodies seemingly one despite not being each other's partner was enough to gravitate the gaze of anyone around them.

“That's real, isn’t it?” Lance asked JC. “They like each other?”

“When did that happen?” Lance asks again after JC doesn’t react to his previous question. JC shrugs and takes a sip of his drink leaving Lance to interpret the casual gesture as his response to Lance’s latest question. Justin and Jenn laugh loudly suddenly, Jenn falling backward into Justin, the back of her hand cascading across his chest while Justin’s arms flow around her both keeping her upright and emphasizing the surely hilarious story he is telling...

How had he been found by Nie Huaisang was beyond him. If Jin Ling had not been hosting Jiang Cheng would have simply not attended this little gathering.
